July 27, 2004: First version. Includes introduction, about the setting, the
equal overall rating growth setting, and the first weekly preparation setting.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[II. Introduction]
In Franchise mode, you are allowed to prepare for each game by having workouts
and other training. This FAQ is to help you maximize your time in preparation
by increasing everyone's overall rating, while decreasing none or very little
of some players. The weekly prepartation feature in this game is helpful,
becausedepending on your opponent for that week, you can adjust your players
to better handle some of their offensive or defensive threats, as well as
improving on mistakes from your last week game.
You have 40 hours each day to spend on improving your team and decreasing
time it takes for your injured players to come back. To do this you can
have players watch film, weight train, do team workouts, alternative
workouts and 7 on 7 drills.
The increase in ratings due to preparation only lasts for that week. So,
don't worry if one of your players ratings go down because in the next
week it will be restored back to default and you can fix the problem.
(* Your players might have a permanent stat change in the middle of the
season, this might happen once in the season)
On Mondays you can set coaching tasks, meetings, conferences, player
tasks such as films and weight training (no Positon Drills), and rehabilitate
injured players.
On Tuesdays-Fridays you can do player tasks including Positon drills, films,
and weight training, Team Drills, rehabilitate injuredd players, and give
the team a full or half a day off.
During 7 on 7 drills and Full Drills, there's an option to have no pads,
partial pads, and full pads. Using Full pads would give you the most out
of the workout, but this can cause injuries during training camp. I
have only gotten injuries when full pads are on, so right now I either
use partial or no pads.
7 on 7 drills and Full Drills improves many players because they are team
drills. So, each week try to have at least one of these since these help
everyone.
During Full Drills, there's an option to work your 1st, 2nd, or 3rd teams.
These teams refer to players who are on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd slot on your
depth chart. Ideally you want to work out all the teams, but try focusing
on the 1st team because they play the most. Also, don't forget to give
some of the other teams some workout becaue some of your WRs and CBs won't
be getting any practices in.
When working with a specific set of players (for example TEs or RBs) you
have the option of focusing on certain players of the postion, this can
be helpful so you do not overwork some of your players. But, you will
still be developing other players.
You might not want to give players days off because you want them to gain
more rating points. But, if you don't you risk your players from getting
injured during the game. If you want to take that risk you can or you
can play it safe and give your players some time off.
Injuries can happen during workouts. To lessen the risk of getting injured
during workout, have your players use partial or no pads, do not overwork
your players, and fit time off if you can.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[III. About the Drills]
Note: not 100% correct on these, if you find any of them wrong please e-mail
me.
Meetings affect the teams morale and focus.
Coaching affects the teams focus.
Conferences can affect the teams focus as well. Having players talk in
interviews can decrease team focus.
Film will give your players focus and also improves some attributes of the
player.
Weights improve your players strength, speed, and agility.
Aerobic improves player's strength, speed, stamina, and agility.
Alternative affects your teams strength, agility, stamina, durabiltiy and
reduces players injuries.
Rehabilitation will help speed up your injured players recovery.
Position Drills improve qualities that are needed for specific player.
For example: Quarterbacks will improve on pass accuracy, while wide receivers
can improve on securing the ball and breaking tackles.
7 on 7 drills increases your teams physical attributes as a whole team.
Full drills increases your selected squad's physical attributes.
Giving time off will reduce chance of injury during the preparation as well
as in the game.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[IV. About The Original Weekly Preparation Setting]
This setting has been tested in a Bears franchise with default rosters.
All my players progress except for about 2-3 bench players. Also, I used
up all my hours. You want to do this to maximize your teams time to gain
overall rating points. During a game, I got a cut scene in which my players
are like "yea, it's because of the workout" (something like that and
after I got a td). This happend after a touchdown and showed me that this
workout is on the right track of what you are suppose to have.
On Friday, I gave my team half a day off because what I have seen from my
games so far is that there will be minor or no injuries during the game.
But, when I didn't give my team half a day off, I had a pretty long injury.
If you want to risk getting injured, but get more rating points, you can
take out the half a day off and add more positon drills.
Note: Depending on your team you can edit and tweak these preparations. This
schedule will progress everyone and 99.9% of your starters will never lose
overall points (hasn't happened to me, but there is a small chance). For
example, if you need to improve your Runningback you should lower time spent
with other positons and used the hours to improve your RBs. A good positon
you can decrease time is your offensive line and wide receivers. They gain
2-4 overall points with this setting, so lowering there time would be okay.

[VI. About The Equal Overall Rating Growth Setting]
This setting gives all your players an overall growth of 2 rating points or
higher. With this setting all your players will have an equal amount of time
working on drills, so custimization for your team is even easier.
All your players will be having 2 hours of position drills each week, most of
your players will be having 1 hour of film study and weights, and everyone
will be having at least one full team drills.
This setting does not give any of your players time off, but that can be fixed
by taking out the full drills and some positon drills on Friday.

[VIII. Common Problems]
You might have noticed that some of your players are losing stamina and
durability. The easiest way to fix that is to go to Alternative workouts and
then select Piyo which is on the high intensity level. This will usually
make your players not decrease in stamina and durabilty.
Strong and free safeties are the hardest players to increase in ratings. I'm
still trying to get them to gain some points, but I can only get them to stay
the same with a minor increase. I'll post more when I find a good way to
increase them.
This setting can be easily changed for your own players. For example, if you
have guards that are already good at run blocking choose the pass blocking
option instead so that they can increase in that stat instead.
Having a conference end where you challenge the players will help your team
stay the same or increase team focus.
