1) Who is Dian Wei?

A giant of a man often referred to as pure evil. Served as Cao Cao's
personal bodyguard and was constantly by his side. After Zhang Xiu's
night attack on Wan Castle, he alone stood before the enemy troops,
giving his life so that Cao Cao could escape.

2) Why Should I Use Him?

Dian Wei is a axe-wielding fighter who has some above-average strength, and
boasts some fun moves to use.

3) Moves and Weapons

Regular Attack: Dian Wei's regular attack is hack-and-slash action that
does a good job of taking out those around him.

T             : Spinning attack that hits all around Dian Wei.

ST            : Lifts up the enemy with his axe.

SST           : Dian Wei slams his elbow onto an opponent. Stuns.

SSST          : Throws the axe like a boomerang. Extreme range, and
                  has a nice knockback effect.

SSSST(T)      : Lifts his opponent into the air with his axe. Standard
high juggler. Press T for a followup attack.

SSSSST        : Slams his axe into the ground, sending out a shockwave.

Mounted Attack: Like every other mounted attack in the game(save for those
few good ones). Standard right-to-left swinging, although
                  somewhat slow.

Dash Attack   : Headbutt of doom, with knockback effect.

  Jump Attack   : Horizontal swing.

Musou Attack  : Dian Wei does some hack and punch action, with a crowd
clearing swing at the end. Each hit has a stun effect.

True Musou    : Fire element added, plus extra axe slashes and a maximum
range clearout swing added at the end. The stun effect is
                  lost.

  Weapons:
  Hand Axe
  Attack +19  4 Hits
  (Varying Stats)

  Strike Axe
  Attack +34  5 Hits
  (Varying Stats)

  Bull
  Attack +49  6 Hits
  (Varying Stats)

  Mad Bull
  Attack +49  6 Hits + Lightning

  HP Max +84
  Attack +27
  Musou Charge +28

Weapons are obtained randomly in each stage. The later the stage, and harder
the difficulty, the better the weapon you will receive. However, 4th weapons
must be obtained in a precise manner.

Stage: The Battle at Wan Castle
  Requirements: Defeat Hu Che Er.

Not the most difficult 4th to get, the only tricky part is keeping Cao Cao
alive. When Hu Che Er is killed, a Supply Team will show up from his start-
position. Kill them for the Weapon.

An easy way to complete 4th weapon quests is to have a fresh character(one
who is not leveled up) be first player, and a stronger character be second
player. It does not matter who the 4th weapon is for, or who kills the supply
captain/gets the item. The objective is what's needed to be completed.

4) Overview

Dian Wei is slow, and doesn't have much in range. He also has a somewhat
weak bow defense(although not totally crippling).

That being side, putting aside the weaknesses, Dian Wei is a pretty good
character to use. His SSST is godly, as it clears out everyone looking at
Dian Wei's face. SSSSTT with his 4th will also wipe out crowds nicely. His
SSSSST, although terribly slow, is a shockwave you can easily make a hit
with, and the Lightning makes it a terribly good crowd clearer too. Dian
Wei's regular attack is also effective at taking out everyone around him,
and the cooldown rate of attack isn't as bad as you think it'd be. His
Musou is also a decent crowd clearer, although you'll find problems with
the alternating axe-punch technique. Dian Wei's 4th is also very godly,
giving you a nice Musou Charge, Attack increase, and a large Life boost.

Fighting Generals, it's just your regular hack and slash action. Dian Wei's
SSSST might be a bit slow for some people to do infinite combos with, though.

  Recommended Equipment:
  Speed Scroll/Red Hare Saddle
  Peacock Urn
  Dragon Amulet/Way of Musou
  Elixir/Wind Scroll
  Tortoise Amulet

5) Stage Strategy

  1. The Battle at Hu Lao Gate
Run down the path towards the top of  Fan Shui Gate and plow through Fan
Chou and Niou Fu. Head down the stairs and clear out Hua Xiong and Xu Rong.
With Liu Bei, Gongzun Zan, Cao Cao's, and Sun Jian's forces ready to go,
advance southward. By now, Yuan Shu's dead. Either engage Lu Bu, or just
avoid him. Take out Li Meng, run through the ambush, then protect the
Assault Captain. Sometimes, the game is cheap, and a horrendous group of
archers appear on the southern wall of Hu Lao Gate. Once the gate is down,
standard buttkicking. If Li Jue and Guo Si's forces pop up, ignore them if
Yuan Shao's morale is pretty high.

  2. The Battle at Wan Castle
Clear out any archers in the surrounding area, then kill off any subofficers
if you need powerups and such. Head towards Jia Xu and hold off his forces
until Cao Cao passes by, at which head towards Hu Che Er's forces and kill
him off. Secure Cao Cao's area, then head towards Jia Xu and defeat him.
Now run to Zhang Xiu and ignore him; instead, shut off his Gate Captain.
Once that's done, get rid of Zhang Xiu's remaining forces and finish the
     stage.

  3. The Battle at Chang Ban
Playing from Xu Huang's, Dian Wei's, and Zhang He's spot, you have more or
less of a good position to work with. Just take the West path and intercept
Liu Bei as he comes from the East. You should have little opposition to slow
you down, so just take out Liu Bei. If Liu Qi's reinforcements pop up, kill
     him off ASAP.

  4. The Battle at Chi Bi
Being Dian Wei, it is imperative you must shout out loud profanities once
the stage starts, due to your position. If you have Red Hare, ride towards
the Place of Prayers, and seek out Lu Meng/Lu Xun. Kill him off. If you don't
have Red Hare, then you'll have to seek out Zhou Yu/Huang Gai and kill them,
unless you want to take a huge Morale hit. From that point on, you can either
take a clockwise or counterclockwise path to take out all the remaining
officers, who should be concentrated on either the boats or the East/West
     sides.

  5. The Battle at He Fei
Start out by killing Lu Meng in the Southwest, then go towards the middle
and kill Zhou Tai and Cheng Pu. Ignore Taishi Ci, Zhang Liao will take care
of him. Head Northeast and attack Lu Xun from the rear. If Gan Ning's forces
pop up, rush over to HQ, clear out any crossbowmen, and kill Gan Ning as best
as possible. Get rid of any other subofficers in the middle of the map, then
charge for Sun Quan. If reinforcements for Wei pop up, Sun Quan will charge
for HQ to end the stage quickly, so be sure you have a reliable horse to
chase him down with. If you go into Lu Su's territory, be prepared for lotsa
     archers.

  6. The Battle at You Ting
Start by aiding Zhang He in the East. Take out Quan Zhong and Da Qiao. Once
that's down, go West and help Zhang Pu by killing Xu Sheng and Xiao Qiao.
Head South and mop up Zhu Huan and Sun Shang Xiang. When Zhou Fang defects,
attack his forces. Attack Sun Quan's base from the East and kill off Zhuge
Jin and Lu Xun. Shut off the Gate Captain, exert unneccessary violence onto
all archers, and finish off Sun Quan.

  7. The Siege of He Fei Castle
Start by killing Zhen Ji in the West. Do it quickly and you'll be able to save
the Gate Captain. Next, work on eliminating Lu Xun, and then Lu Meng. There's
two Imperial Seals nearby, one by each officer, so use those if you need
help. If Sun Shao and Zhuge Jin have entered the castle already, kill them
off. Next, head east and kill Sun Shang Xiang and Gan Ning. Shut off any
remaining active gates, then charge for Sun Quan. Kill his Gate Captain,
then attack Sun Quan. Exert any and all anger onto any surviving crossbowmen
     that happen to hang around.

6) Questions and Answers

  Q: Dian Wei is bald.
  A: That's not a question. And that's mean. :(

Q: I fufilled the requirements for Dian Wei's 4th weapon, but no Supply Team?
A: You sure you're playing on Hard?
Q: Are you asking me a question? You're supposed to answer.
  A: It's, uh, rhetorical.

Q: I grabbed the Weapon Box, but all I got was this cruddy 1st/2nd/3rd weapon.
A: :PpP, you used Gameshark/Sharkport save that has basic 4th Weapons. Start a
brand new game file, or use EvilR's Weapon Customizable FAQ on GameFAQ.com to
     fix the problem.

Q: My Dian Wei does no damage!
  A: 3rd time you didn't ask a question. :p Refer to above and get yourself a +20
     Tiger Amulet somehow.

Q: Where do I get 2nd/3rd weapons and good items?
A: I shop at You Ting Wei side for weapons, Wu side for items. Hard mode for best
     results.

  Q: This FAQ is horrible.
A: Make a better one then.
  Q: I just did.
  A: >_<
