                            0.00)  Guide Notation
                                   --------------
===============================================================================
===============================================================================

In order to understand some of the notation I've used throughout this script,
you should consider reading this short section before you start reading the
script.  It will tell you exactly what certain symbols and comments mean when
you see them in the script.

-------------
Direct Speech
-------------

Dialogue is given in indented sections following the speakers name like this:

Speaker's Name:  "Dialogue."

--------
Naration
--------

My descriptions of events are given in brackets like this:

[This is what's going on in the game, even though there's no audio to tell you
that it's going on.]

---------------
Indirect Speech
---------------

Parentheses are used to denote dialogue that occurs indirectly, as in not by
direct personal speech:

Anna (on radio):

------------
Missing Text
------------

Some words and sounds are made in the game, but not expressed through the text.
For example, the word "doing" is spoken in this scene, but not written in the
guard's speech bubble:

Gate Guard:  "I can't let you through without clearance.  Hey, wait!  What are
you {doing}...  Hold it!  Stop!  Aaaah!"

The word inside {these} was audible, but not written in the text box.

Note that in this game, not all text has corresponding audio.  A decent amount
of the text is Hansen's thoughts as he moves through the boat/rig, so it isn't
audible.  I will not bother denoting what does or doesn't have audio throughout
the script most of the time.

--------------------
Script Reading Error
--------------------

Sometimes, the script will have one word written in it, but what's actually
spoken doesn't match it completely.  I tried to explain these every time I
caught one while I was typing all of this, but it's possible I missed a few.
The ones I caught will look like this in the script:

Speaker's Name:  "Dialogue goes here."  [Note that Speaker's Name actually says
the word "there" instead of "here".]

That notation would mean that the audible voice-over used the word "There"
instead of "Here" as it was written on the screen.  These might not have been
script reading errors, but that's the best term I could come up with.  It's
possible they just changed the script between the time the voice actors read it
and when the game was actually made.  Don't want any of the voice actors to get
mad at me for saying they made errors, just in case one of them happens to read
this some day.  >_>;;

===============================================================================
===============================================================================

[The first scene in the game shows a helicopter hovering above a boat of some
kind during a storm.  A voice can be heard on the chopper.]

Voice on the Radio:  "Alpha Team, prepare for insertion on my mark.  And...
                     Go!  Go!  Go!"

[Several armed men drop from the helicopter onto the deck of the boat.  They
begin searching the boat, which appears to be deserted.]

Commander (on radio):  "Kenneth, Marcus.  Advance by twos."

[The Alpha Team splits into groups of two, spreading out over the deck of the
boat.  A low groaning noise can be heard.]

Operative 1 (on radio):  "Anyone else hear that?"

Operative 2 (on radio):  "Negative."

[After advancing a little farther, one of the men sees something on the deck.]

Operative 3 (on radio):  "Something's out there..."

[Something large can be seen attacking several of the operatives, and then the
camera is knocked out.  The commander is monitoring the situation from a room
with several cameras that are supposed to be showing what's going on.]

Commander:  "Come in.  Come in!  Damnit, Hernandez, talk to me!  What's going
on!  I'm not getting anything here!  Marcus!  Law!  Can you hear
me?  Come on!  Somebody, answer me!  Get me another asset out
there pronto.  Anything we've got.  Anything."

[The scene shifts to another boat, where an alarm is going off on the control
panel on the bridge.  This is a Coast Guard ship, and Tom Hansen is on duty.]

Hansen:  "Yeah, yeah, I hear you!  This is the USS Ravenswood, we arrived in
the vecinity of the vessel, and we'll now initiate a search patrol to
         look for it.  Ravenswood out."

[Hansen and several fellow Coast Guards can be seen boarding the drifting boat
when the scene changes again.]

Lansing (on radio):  "Okay people, you know your assignments.  Hansen, you've
got main deck, port side.  Watch yourself, you're going
                     solo."

DeSantos (on radio):  "How come Hansen gets all the fun?"

Lansing (on radio):  "Because he's pretier than you are, DeSantos.  Now cut the
                     chatter."

Friedman (on radio):  "This place is creeping me out.  Where is everyone?"

Lansing (on radio):  "Steady, Friedman.  Remember, I've got that extraction
code in case things get hairy."

Ravenswood (on radio):  "Boarding party, this is the Ravenswood.  The seas are
too rough.  We're gonna have to head back.  You're on
                        your own, people."

Lansing (on radio):  "You heard the man.  Keep it tight."

[From here, the audio gets a little confusing as to who said which lines.  Some
of them I'm fairly sure of, but others there's no easy way to tell, so I've
simple put "???" for all of them.]

???:  "Hey Walter, did you hear that?

Walter (on radio):  "Hear what?"

???:  "What's that smell?"

Lansing:  "These old Russian whalers all stink to high heaven."

???:  "What's that?  Open fire!  Open fire!"

???:  "Holy Sh.."  [Note that the audio clearly says the full "shit," but they
trail the text off for some reason.]

Lansing:  "I'm falling back!  Reform on my position.  I repeat, reform here."

Hansen:  "Lieutenant Lansing!  Come in!  Come in!"

[There's no answer, so you continue down the side of the deck.  On the other
side of the boat, waves are pounding the deck.]

Hansen:  "Whoah, the deck is really rolling.  One wrong move and I'm
         overboard."

[When you get closer, Hansen thinks about it again.]

Hansen:  "I have to time this just right or I'll go overboard."

[On your way over the deck, a Russian soldier tries to cross before you, but a
wave crushes him against the wall of the ship.  You proceed carefully and find
yourself in a hallway with a couple doors.]

Hansen:  "These Russian boats aren't exactly built the same way ours are.  I
better read the inscriptions so that I don't get lost.  Let's see how
much of my Russian I still remember."

[There are two doors, one marked "Main Deck" and one marked "Storeroom".  The
Main Deck door is being held shut by some sort of electronic thing, so you
shoot it with your handgun.]

Hansen:  "It's unlocked!"

[You go through the door and enter the Main Deck area.  Two Russian mercenaries
are arguing in the hallway.  The audio is in Russian, but thankfully, the text
is in English.]

Mercenary 1:  "We are surrounded!  They are everywhere!  They are coming for
              us!"

Mercenary 2:  "Quiet!  they are going to hear us!  Help me to open this door...
It is locked!  we are dead!"  [Note that I'm not accidentally
forgetting to capitalize the words "they" and "we" - they aren't
capitalized in the text for some reason.]

Hansen:  "{Hey!}"  [Note that Hansen says this, although there is no text
         displayed on the screen.]

Mercenary 1:  "Watch out!  there is one around the corner!"

Mercenary 2:  "Shit, shit, shit!  Fire!"

[The two Russians duck behind some crates for cover and start firing at you,
and you are forced to eliminate them.  A fire is burning in the middle of the
hallway on the other side, so you start looking for a way to put it out.]

Hansen:  "This valve must control the sprinkler system."

[Indeed it does, and the fire is extinguished.  You enter some of the rooms on
this side of the deck before proceeding.  There's another Mercenary in the
first door.]

Mercenary 3:  "Son of a bitch!"

[He attacks you, so you kill him.  There's nothing of any interest in this room
though, so you open the next door in the hallway.  It's another small storage
room, and there's a slaughtered Russian on a table with flies around it.  A
healthpack is sitting on the table, and if you need it, you can use it,
causing this line:]

Hansen:  "A health pack.  That feels good."

[That's the same line he'll always use, so I will not be mentioning it again in
the script.  Aside from the health pack, there's nothing of interest in here.
The third door in the hallway is still locked, as the Mercenaries said before.
A female Russian voice can be heard inside, but she's speaking English.]

Female Voice:  "You bastard!  Whoever you are, you will open this door now!"

Hansen:  "I've got to find that code!"

[The door won't open without the code, so you try the fourth door in the hall.
Nothing in there except for another slaughtered Russian and some more flies,
so you go back into the hallway and head through the hallway where the fire
used to be.  After finding a key on a dead Russian in the flooded hallway
below you, you head up the door in this area to find Sick Bay and some other
rooms.  Nothing much of interest, so you continue on to the next section of
the boat.  The door to the Captain's Quarters is locked, so you enter the
bathroom instead.  Several slaughtered Russians are in the room.]

Hansen:  "What the hell is that?"

[Most of the Russian in the shower's head is missing...  When you approach the
bathroom stalls, a Mercenary will attack you.]

Mercenary 4:  "Stay back!"

[After taking care of him, you enter the next door in the hallway.  It's a
lounge of some sort, and two Mercenaries have set up a defensive position in
it.  They attack you when you enter the room.]

Mercenary 5:  "Stay back!"

Mercenary 6:  "Fuck!"

[After eliminating both of them, you go through the next door, which leads to
the galley.  The galley exits to the other side of the lower deck, behind the
fire that was blocking you earlier.  You find a valve to turn the sprinklers
on and douse the fire.  The stairs heading up lead to the Bridge (Radio Room),
but the door is locked.]

Hansen:  "Great.  It's locked!"

[Instead, you go through the door underneath the stairs, which leads to the
Front Deck.  Gunfire can be heard, but you can't see it from up here.]

Hansen:  "It must be downstairs."

[Two Russians attempt to stop you on the other side of the walkway, and a third
one attacks you when you go down the stairs.]

Mercenary 7:  "Stay back!"

[Yeah, that's likely to happen...  after eliminating him, you open a nearby
door that leads to Service Room.  Another Russian is waiting in here.]

Mercenary 8:  "Shit!"

[After you kill him, you raid the room for items and return to the Front Deck.
Another door here leads to the Dormitory, so you enter it.  There are several
slaughtered Russians on the beds, and there's a bathroom in the back of the
room, which you enter.]

Hansen:  "Lansing?  Oh, man..."

[Lieutenant Lansing's been killed, and there's blood and body parts all over
the bathroom.]

Hansen:  "At least I found the code."

[On the way out of the Dormitory, a severely injured Russian is crawling on the
ground towards you.]

Mercenary 9:  "Help...  me..."

[Another person jumps out from one of the bunks and kills the injured Mercenary
with some sort of sharp object.  This is your first "zombie" encounter.]

Hansen:  "Holy..."

[The zombie rushes you, and you kill it.  You open the door to return to the
Front Deck area, finishing the first mission.]

                         1.02)  Find the Radio Room
                                -------------------
===============================================================================
===============================================================================

[Back on the Front Deck, a Mercenary is fighting off three zombies.  Sometimes
the Mercenary gets lucky and takes them down, other times the zombies get
lucky and take him down...  either way, you proceed through the area killing
anything that moves and enter the Storeroom door on the other side of the
deck.  You find an AK-47 on the ground in here, then deal with another zombie.
The door on the other side of the Storeroom leads to the Rear Deck, near where
you started the game.  Another zombie attacks you out here, and then you go
back into the Main Deck area.  Inside the first room you come to, you find a
Mercenary (which you kill) and a handwheel for the fish hold door, which you
take with you.]

Hansen:  "It looks like this will do the job."  [Note that there is only audio
for this line, there is no corresponding text.]

[Back in the Main Deck's hallway, you can check the locked door with the female
voice locked behind it.]

Female Voice:  "You stupid son of a whore, when I get out of here I will kill
               you!"

[You head down the stairs into the flooded Portside Cold Rooms, where you can
use the handwheel you just found to open the door to the Fish Hold.]

Hansen:  "It's unlocked!"

[Inside the Fish Hold is a gutted whale.  A fallen Russian behind it has the
Radio Room key, and when you take it, several Exocels will burst out of the
whale's corpse.]

Hansen:  "Son of a bitch!"

[After escaping from these guys, you have to backtrack all the way to the
Bridge (Radio Room).  Some more enemies will attempt to interfere, but they're
nothing too difficult to handle.  When you approach the stairs leading up to
the Radio Room, Hansen states the obvious.]

Hansen:  "The radio room must be up these stairs."

[The Bridge (Radio Room) has a few zombie guys in it, of course.  Oddly enough,
the only one of the three Bridge rooms that doesn't have any enemies is the
Radio Room itself...]

Hansen:  "This looks like the radio."

[The radio is in working condition, so you try to contact someone.  It's worth
noting that I suspect Bennett is the same person that I referred to as
"Commander" early in the game, but there's no way to be sure.]

Hansen:  "Bravo Seven Niner, can you hear me?"

Bennett (on radio):  "Who am I speaking to?  Where's Lansing?"

Hansen:  "Lansing's dead.  This is Hansen.  Everyone else is down."

Bennett (on radio):  "Bloody hell.  Then I guess we're stuck with each other,
Hansen.  But you're not the only survivor.  There's still
a very dangerous man loose on that ship.  Colonel Dmitriy
Yusupov.  He needs to answer a few questions.  Round him
up, and then we'll get you out of there."

Hansen:  "Who's "we"?"

Bennett (on radio):  "I'm CIA Special Agent Bennett, Mr. Hansen.  Patch this
frequency through your headset.  You might need my help.
                     Bennett out."

Hansen:  "Great.  Just great.  So where's this guy I'm looking for?"

Bennett (on radio):  "Rear deckhouse.  We got a fast satellite lock through the
                     cloud cover and pinpointed him."

Hansen:  "Must be nice.  I'm on my way."

[When you try to leave the Bridge (Radio Room), you're offered a chance to save
your game, and the second mission is complete.]

                             1.03)  Find Yusupov
                                    ------------
===============================================================================
===============================================================================

[The Rear Deckhouse is near where you first started the game.  Conveniently,
the door underneath the stairs you're on leads to the Front Deck, which leads
to the Storeroom, which connects you to Rear Deck.  The trip there, while
filled with zombies and Mercenaries, is fairly uneventful.  You eventually
find Yusupov in the Rear Deckhouse.]

Hansen:  "Hello?"

Yusupov:  "Speak English.  It doesn't matter now."

Hansen:  "What's going on here, Colonel?"

Yusupov:  "A terrible mistake...  Find Anna.  She has answers."

Hansen:  "Where is she?"

Yusupov:  "Locked up for protection, after that idiot captain Lubenski hid in
the cold storage.  Now here, take this.  Experimental.  The bolts
are chemically treated to distract them.  It may...  save...  your
          life."

[One of those Exocel things pops out of Yusupov, killing him.  You deal with
the Exocel, then pick up the Speargun Yusupov told you to take.]

Hansen:  "Let's see what this speargun can do."

[You also find a journal on the ground next to Yusupov.]

Hansen:  "Yusupov's journal..."

[You head off to find Anna, and even though this mission technically ended when
you entered Rear Deckhouse, I'm breaking it this way to make the sections look
a little more even.]

===============================================================================
===============================================================================
                                     ---------
                              1.04)  Free Anna
                                     ---------
===============================================================================
===============================================================================

[You contact Agent Bennett immediately after exiting the Rear Deckhouse.]

Hansen:  "Mother of God, Bennett, you would not believe what I just saw..."

Bennett (on radio):  "Easy there.  I heard it all...  You need to go find
                     Captain Lubenski, pronto."

Hansen:  "But this girl Anna..."

Bennett (on radio):  "...is probably just some Russian hooker Yusupov had on
board.  Go find the captain before that tub you're on
                     capsizes."

Hansen:  "Yusupov said she had answers.  I'd like a few of those."

Bennett (on radio):  "Hansen!  I'm trying to keep you alive here."

Hansen:  "And I'm going to keep her alive.  Hansen out."

[Some more wandering zombies don't like you moving through the area, but they
are easy to deal with as they come up the stairs.  A door in the lower part of
the Rear Deck leads to the Starboard Ladder.  An Exocel is shown crawling into
the mouth of a slain Mercenary, and the Mercenary proceeds to stand up and
attack you.]

Hansen:  "My God..."

[After dispatching it, you take the stairs down to the Engine Room.  A slew of
enemies awaits you in the hallways, including the first Exonest.  In the back
of the lower hallway, you find a keycard for the Propeller Shaft area.]

Hansen:  "Here's the electronic key."

[The door down here is tempting, but when you approach it...]

Hansen:  "This looks like the wrong way."

[So instead, you head to the other end of the lower hallway.]

Hansen:  "Hmm.  Haven't tried that door yet."

[They keycard you just found opens the door.]

Hansen:  "It's unlocked."

[After saving your game, you enter the Propeller Shaft Room.  After eliminating
a zombie, you grab a shotgun from the ground next to a fallen Mercenary.]

Hansen:  "Ah, the good old shotgun."

[The Propeller Shaft Room is crawling with zombies and Exocels.  On the other
side of the room, you find another handwheel.]

Hansen:  "It looks like this will do the job."  [Note that you only get the
audio here, there is no text displaying it.]

[The nearby door will open when you shoot the electrical box next to it.  The
lines Hansen says about it are the same as always, so I won't bother noting
them.  You return to the tempting door that you skipped earlier.  A few
zombies/Exocels are waiting for you in this small hallway, so you deal with
them and exit out the other side into the Cargo Hold Corridor.  Several
Mercenary corpses are hanging from the ceiling in here...  Some of the doors
lead to rooms with items in them, but the door you're mainly interested in is
the one that leads to the Fish Hold, which you are able to open with your
trusty handwheel.  A few zombies attack you, but you make it through the other
door to find yourself in the Portside Cold Rooms again.  A zombie tries to
attack you, but he's electrified by a wire dangling in the water before he
gets the chance.  You head up the stairs when the water's safe, and Anna's
room is just around the corner.]

Anna:  "I spit on you.  Yusupov!  Let me go!"

Hansen:  "It's unlocked."

[The female voice behind the door earlier is obviously Anna, and you've now
succeeded in freeing her, completing the fourth mission.]

===============================================================================

Hansen:  "Anna?"

Anna:  "Who are you?  What are you doing here?"

Hansen:  "My name is Tom Hansen.  I'm a friend."

Anna:  "Why should I believe you?"

Hansen:  "Because I'm here and you're not dead."

Anna:  "Heh.  Funny.  Where's Dmitriy?"

Hansen:  "Yusupov's dead."

Anna:  "Good.  The bastard deserved it."

Hansen:  "So can you tell me what the hell is going on here?  He said you had
         some answers."

Anna:  "He lied.  I don't have answers."

Hansen:  "Then who does?"

Anna:  "Papa does.  We can radio him.  He'll know what to do."

[And therein lies your next objective - taking Anna to the radio room.]

Anna:  "I think you and I are linked, Hansen.  We will both make it through
this, or neither of us will."

Hansen:  "I vote for both."

Anna:  "I don't think you have a choice."

[Bennett radios you as soon as you enter the Main Deck again.]

Bennett (on radio):  "Hansen, I've got an ID on the girl.  She's Viktor
Kamsky's daughter.  It is vital that you keep her alive."

Hansen:  "Yeah, some scientist.  So?"

Bennett (on radio):  "I'm telling you that she's valuable.  Guard her with your
                     life."

Hansen:  "I'll keep her alive."

Bennett (on radio):  "You'd better.  If she dies, it's all over."

[The door to the armory is blown off in an explosion when you walk past, so you
won't be able to stock up on ammunition there anymore.  After heading up the
stairs and past the Sick Bay, you lead Anna to the radio room, ending the
fifth mission.]

1.06)  Find the Autopilot Unlocking Code
                         ---------------------------------
===============================================================================
===============================================================================

Hansen:  "Here's the radio room."

Anna:  "Good.  We can call the drilling platform my father works on."

[Hansen sets up the radio, and Anna takes the microphone from him.]

Anna:  "Star of Sakhalin, can you hear me?"

[The voice that answers is that of Doctor Pavel Bakharev.]

Bakharev (on radio):  "Anna!  Is that you?"

Anna:  "Pavel!  What's happening?  Where's my father?"

Bakharev (on radio):  "I'm sorry.  He is missing, and this place...  Don't
come back, Anna.  It's too dangerous."

Anna:  "{Hush.}  I'm coming back, and I'm bringing help."  [Note that while she
clearly vocalizes the "Hush", it isn't in the text.  Also note that she
actually says "I am coming back" instead of "I'm coming back" like it's
       written in the text.]

Bakharev (on radio):  "Then I will try to hold out until you return.
Good-bye."  [Note that everything he says is in English
except for the "Good-bye", which he speaks in Russian.]

Hansen:  "We can't turn the ship.  The autopilot is locked."

Anna:  "Then unlock it!"

Hansen:  "Good idea.  I'll go find Lubenski.  You stay here.  Lock the doors.
         And here, put this on."

Anna:  "What is it?"

Hansen:  "It's a radio.  It will let us keep in touch.  Just...  wipe it off
         first."

[Hansen leaves to find Captain Lubenski, and Anna stays in the Bridge (Radio
Room).  Bennett contacts Hansen.]

Bennett (on radio):  "OK, Hansen, here's the plan.  You find the codes you need
to unlock the autopilot.  Point that thing at the oil rig
Anna's talking about and get her father out of there."

Hansen:  "If we turn this thing broadside to the storm, the waves are going to
         swamp us."

Bennett (on radio):  "Then turn it fast.  You're Coast Guard and her dad needs
a rescue.  Go resuce him."  [Note that it sounds like
Bennett says "You're {a} Coast Guard" instead of just
"You're Coast Guard", but it's hard to tell for sure.]

[You leave this area and continue all the way to the Rear Deck.  Something
large is pounding on the door that leads to the Main Deck, and it's become so
bent that you can no longer open it from this side.  Instead, you unlock the
door across from the Starboard Ladder that leads to the Pump Control Room.  A
switch in there turns the pump on, which drains the water from the hallways
you saw earlier.]

Hansen:  "The bilge pump is finally running."  [Note that there is no audio for
this line.  I assume it's Hansen thinking to himself, but I suppose
it could've been meant as a notice to the player rather than any real
         dialogue...]

[The door down the stairs in this room leads to the Engine Room again.  From
there, you make your way through to the Cargo Hold.  Several Mercenaries are
preparing to fight off several zombies.]

Mercenary 10:  "Get ready"  [Note that this sentence has no punctuation.]

Mercenary 11:  "They're too close!"

Mercenary 10:  "Open fire!"

[A ridiculous slaughter proceeds, with you doing the majority of the
slaughtering.  The door on the other side of the Cargo Hold leads to the
Portside Cold Rooms.  The bilge pump's done a nice job of draining the hall,
so you enter the rooms.  Cold Room 2 yields what you were looking for.]

Hansen:  "OK.  I found the captain.  He's a corpsicle.  Anyone got any bright
         ideas?"

Bennett (on radio):  "Search the body.  You've got experience with that,
                     right?"

[You find the key to the Captain's Quarters on the ground in front of Lubenski,
so it's time to go up there.]

Hansen:  "Nothing on the frozen stiff except the keys to his quarters.  I'll
         head there, next."

Bennett (on radio):  "If the codes for the autopilot aren't on him, that's the
best place to look.  Just don't rush over there and get
                     yourself killed."

Hansen:  "Thanks for the tip."

[You head up the stairs and past the Sick Bay, where yet another zombie has
decided to jump out at you.  After going through the door to the Lower Deck,
you find the Captain's Quarters and enter.  A book on the Lubenski's desk has
the code in it.]

Hansen:  "Anna.  I've got the code to unlock the autopilot."

Anna (on radio):  "Go ahead."

Hansen:  "Three - teh - five - ell.  Got that?"

Anna (on radio):  "It's working!  I'm putting in the coordinates for the
                  drilling platform now."

[Mission six is now complete, and the seventh mission is to meet Anna at the
lookout post (crow's nest).]

1.07)  Reach Anna in the Look-out Post
                          -------------------------------
===============================================================================
===============================================================================

[Before you even make it out of the Captain's Quarters, the boat shakes
violently.]

Hansen:  "Whoah, Anna, getting a little rough there.  Hang on, and I'll meet
you at the pilot house."  [Note that while the text says "and I'll",
the audio clearly just says "I'll".]

Anna (on radio):  "No, it's not safe.  Look, the seas are too rough for us to
dock with the oil rig, yes?"

Hansen:  "What are you getting at?"

Anna (on radio):  "The only way we can get on board is to climb up to the
crow's nest and then jump when we get close."

Hansen:  "Oh, crap.  We're going to hit the platform, aren't we?"

Anna (on radio):  "That will make jumping easier, won't it?"

Hansen:  "You're out of your mind, woman!"

Anna (on radio):  "You have a better idea?"

Hansen:  "Shit.  I'll see you in the crow's nest.  Don't get yourself killed."

[When you exit the Captain's Quarters, Bennett contacts you.]

Bennett (on radio):  "Listen, Hansen, I've got some bad news for you."

Hansen:  "Great.  What is it now?"

Bennett (on radio):  "We've known about that oil rig for a while.  It's got
some sort of radio fuzzer on it.  No transmissions in or
out except in a very tight window that we can't get
                     into."

Hansen:  "Which means..."

Bennett (on radio):  "Which means that until you take care of that jamming
device, I won't be able to help you."

Hansen:  "I'm heartbroken."

Bennett (on radio):  "I'm serious, Hansen.  The only way you get off that rig
is if I help you.  And I can't help you unless I can talk
to you.  So once you get on board, you smash that jammer.
                     You got it?"

Hansen:  "Sorry, you're breaking up.  I can't hear you."

Bennett (on radio):  "Hansen.  Hansen!"

Hansen:  "Just kidding.  Smash the jammer.  Got it.  Hansen out."

[The Captain's Quarters exits directly to the Upper Deck.  Anna is being chased
by a hoard of zombies.]

Anna:  "Hansen!  Help me!"

Hansen:  "I gotta get rid of these bastards before meeting up with Anna."

[Tons of zombie guys attack you as you work your way up the ladders to the
crow's nest.  Luckily, there's no shortage of flamable barrels around to help
you out.]

Anna:  "Hurry up, Hansen."

[Cutscene time as Hansen and Anna prepare to jump.]

Hansen:  "You sure you want to do this?"

Anna:  "It's our only chance."

Hansen:  "How did I know you were gonna say that?"

[The whaler smashes into the fringes of the oil platform.]

Hansen:  "Now!"

[Both of them jump off of the crow's nest.  Hansen lands on a walkway.]

Hansen:  "Made it!"

[Anna didn't make it quite as far.  She's hanging from the ledge below the
walkway.]

Anna:  "Hansen!"

Hansen:  "Anna!  Hang on!"

[She slips and falls off of the ledge before you get to her, falling down into
the water below.]

Hansen:  "Shit!"

[Hansen dives into the water after her.  The scene fades, then fades back to
show Hansen passed out on a lower part of the oil rig.  Anna is no where to be
seen.  An Exocel approaches Hansen and climbs into his mouth.  You are now
infected.]

===============================================================================

[You wake up and start looking for a way off of the Dock area.]

Hansen:  "Goddammit!  This shit is screwing with my vision!"

[Eventually, you work your way around the dock to an elevator entrance, then
ride it up to the Main Drilling Module.  A few zombies are on the walkway, but
they're nothing special.  Down the walkway is the Armory and Sick Bay.  After
visiting the Armory, you enter Sick Bay.]

Bakharev:  "Stay back!"

Hansen:  "I'm...  with Anna...  help me..."

[You pass out on the floor.  When you wake up, Pavel Bakharev is above you.]

Bakharev:  "You're alive.  Good.  There's only a little time to inject the
antidote after infection.  So now, tell me whose life I just saved.
           You know Anna, yes?"

Hansen:  "Knew.  She's gone.  I'm Tom Hanse, USCG."

Bakharev:  "You bring terrible news.  Did she tell you about this place at
           all?"

Hansen:  "No."

Bakharev:  "And yet you came here anyway.  Then I must tell you.  Kamsky -
Anna's father - and I were sent here to study the exocels when they
climbed up onto the platform.  Maybe the drilling woke them up, eh?
We were told to learn what they were, and how to control them.  But
Kamsky went past that.  He wanted to use them.  And this is the
result.  It will kill us all."

Hansen:  "Where's the radio jammer I heard about?"

Bakharev:  "Anischenko {had} kept it in the magnetic field room.  You can't get
in.  It has retinal scanner locks, and only Anischenko can open
it."  [Note that while {had} is not in the text, it can be heard in
           the audio.]

Hansen:  "Then I guess I'll just have to ask him to open it for me."

Bakharev:  "He'll kill you first."

[The scene ends, and you can pretty much guess what the next objective is.]

===============================================================================
===============================================================================

[You find the Spear Gun on a table next to you.]

Hansen:  "Am I glad to see you again!"

[After raiding Sick Bay for anything of interest, you go back out to the
walkway.  Bakharev is there.]

Bakharev:  "Hansen, one more thing..."

Hansen:  "Yeah?"

Bakharev:  "You need to..."

[Bakharev screams as he is grabbed and pulled up several feet into a duct of
some form.  Guts go everywhere, and his body is thrown back out of the duct.
You examine him to find a key to the storeroom.]

Hansen:  "Here's the electronic key."

[You continue down the next walkway.  A fallen Mercenary has a shotgun next to
him, so you grab it.]

Hansen:  "This could be useful..."

[After even more walkway, there are more fallen Mercenaries.  One of them is
next to an AK-47, so you take it.]

Hansen:  "Add it to the arsenal."

[The storeroom door is up ahead after you fight off a few zombies.]

Hansen:  "It's unlocked!"

[The storeroom is filled with corpses and zombies.  Some stairs in the back
lead up to a control panel, next to which is a box with a grenade launcher in
it.  You take it.]

Hansen:  "A hand-held grenade launcher.  What's this doing here?"

[The control panel controls the other set of doors leading out of this room, so
you press the button there.]

Hansen:  "It's opening."

[Opening the doors angers several more zombies.  After eliminating them, you go
through the newly opened doors to a new hallway.  Some sort of creature is
roaming the floor in here, and it attacks you.]

Hansen:  "What the hell is that?"

[You can either kill it or run from it.  Either way, you eventually find your
way to the Laser Mine Shed and the Main Office, where you find some items.
After that, you open another door in the Lower Corridor that leads to the
Upper Corridor.  Mercenaries are fighting off some zombies, and you get thrown
into the middle.  A door on the far side of the corridor leads to the Heliport
Module.]

Hansen:  "Anischenko must be on the other side...  I don't have a choice, I've
         gotta get through..."

[The walkway is laced with laser mines, so you must carefully crawl your way
through across to the Storage Shed.  Another large battle is raging between
Anischenko's mercenaries and the zombies.]

Mercenary 12:  "There he is!"

[You have no choice but to take on the entire Mercenary force.]

Anischenko:  "Into position!  When he comes through the door...  {Fire!}"
[Note that he audibly says "Fire!" even though there is no text
             for it on the screen.]

[You continue to close in on Anischenko's position, eliminating tons of his
mercenaries.]

Anischenko:  "Listen, dickhead!"

[More battle.]

Anischenko:  "Keep it hot!"

[Eventually, you wipe out all of the Mercenaries in the room, including
Anischenko.  After raiding the place for items, you approach his corpse.]

Hansen:  "Ewww...  I'd better keep Anischenko's eye from getting squished."

===============================================================================
===============================================================================

[Time to return to The Upper Corridor, where the door leading to the magnetic
room is located.  The walkway out of here where the mines were is now crawling
with zombies, but they're easily dispatched, and you eventually make it to
the Main Security Room.]

Automated Voice:  "Auto-defense system activated.  Unauthorized personnel have
been detected.  Please begin evacuation plan B.  This is not
a test.  I repeat:  this is not a test."

[Tons of Exocels are in here, and they take over the bodies of a few fallen
Mercenaries to attack you.  When you clear them all out, the automated voice
lets you know.]

Automated Voice:  "Area cleared.  Doors unlocked."

[A fallen Mercenary nearby has a flamethrower next to him, so you take it.]

Hansen:  "This ought to heat things up."

[The door to the Communications Room is right here, so you use Anischenko's eye
to make it open.]

Hansen:  "Eyes-only clearance, I guess."

[A few more Mercenaries are defending the magnetic equipment inside the
Communications Room.  After dealing with them, you destroy one of the three
machines operating the magnetic field.]

Hansen:  "Only two left."

[And another...]

Hansen:  "One more to go."

[...and the third one.  You try to hail Bennett.]

Hansen:  "Bennett, you out there?"

Bennett (on radio):  "I can hear you.  Give me your situation."

Hansen:  "I'm all right, but Anna's missing."

Bennett (on radio):  "Sorry about the girl, but there's bigger things to worry
about.  I need you to find Kamsky's notes.  Our best
guess is that they're on his laptop.  Find those notes
and upload them.  With his data, we can make sure this
                     never happens again."

Hansen:  "But what about Anna?"

Bennett (on radio):  "Fine.  Head to the main security room.  It's a good place
to start looking for those notes, and you might be able
                     to spot your girlfriend."

Hansen:  "She's not my girlfriend."

Bennett (on radio):  "Oh, that's right, Hansen.  You get your girlfriends shot,
                     not eaten by monsters."

Hansen:  "Back off, Bennett."

Bennett (on radio):  "Whatever you say."

[When you exit the Communications Room, you see a scene of Anna floating in the
water.  A large creature grabs her and pulls her onto the rig.  It takes her
to a lab table and sets her down, then several Exocels can be seen infecting
her.]

Monster:  "Some day, I promise, you will understand."

[Anna screams, and Hansen hears it over one of the monitors in the Main
Security Room.  He sees what happened.]

Hansen:  "Anna!  No!"

===============================================================================

Bennett (on radio):  "Hansen!  Talk to me!"

Hansen:  "I'm here."

Bennett (on radio):  "Have you located the notes?"

Hansen:  "Screw the notes.  Those...  things just infected Anna!"

Bennett (on radio):  "Don't do anything stupid, Hansen.  There's nothing you
                     can do."

Hansen:  "There's an antidote!  I can still save her!"

Bennett (on radio):  "An antidote?  Fine.  If you think you've got a shot, go
for it.  The notes can wait...  for now."

[When you move towards the exit, an Exocel bursts out of a scientist's head.
The automated defenses are tripped again.]

Automated Voice:  "Auto-defense system activated.  Unauthorized personnel have
been detected.  Please begin evacuation plan B.  This is not
a test.  I repeat:  this is not a test."

[Once you destroy that solitary Exocel, they defense system calms down.]

Automated Voice:  "Area cleared.  Doors unlocked."

[A key for the Habitat Module is on the scientist, so you take it.]

Hansen:  "Here's the electronic key."

[The trip to the Habitation Catwalk Elevator is relatively uneventful,
especially if you killed the monster in The Lower Corridor earlier.  The
elevator leads to The Habitation Module, which leads to the Rest Room, a large
open area.  Some of the room is covered in Exonest, and a part near one of the
doors collapses, sending you sliding down to the lower levels of the
structure.  You hit your head on the way down, and another Exocel infects you
while you're knocked out.  The hallways leading back upstairs are covered in
nesting, but you make your way up anyway.

Another elevator leads you underwater.  In the Underwater Tunel, you enounter
some sort if invisible monster.  A few shotgun shells takes care of it, and
you're free to move on to the Lab's Main Elevator.  After wandering through
some labs, you find yourself in the Experimental Chamber.  Several zombies are
on the floor below you.  You inspect a control panel on the catwalk.]

Hansen:  "Access denied.  Damn!"

[The Experimental Chamber leads to the Mortuary.  After a couple more zombies
attack you, you come to the door leading to Dr. Kamsky's Lab.  A dose of the
antidote is on one of the tables, so you take it.  Time to find Anna.]

===============================================================================

[After dealing with another invisible zombie thing, you return to the
Experimental Chamber.  Armed with a code you found on a fallen scientist, you
activate the electric floor using the console on the catwalk.]

Hansen:  "What do you know?  Access granted."

[The catwalk collapses after the barrels explode.  A hallway down here leads to
the Laboratory Shed.  Several "specimens" are still in their cages, and
another one of those ExoShade things is loose.  A mangled Mercenary pleads to
you.]

Mercenary 13:  "Kill me!  Please!  Kill me!"

[The fire in the back is dealt with when you find the sprinkler wheel, and you
exit the room to the flooded Lab 6.  A small elevator takes you out of the
flooded part and up to the catwalk, where you exit to the Lab's Main
Elevator again.  You activate it, but halfway up, you run into trouble.]

Automated Voice:  "Hostile life form detected in a high-security area.  Begin
evacuation protocal B.  Repeat, begin evacuation plan B.
{This is not a test.  I repeat, this is not a test.}"  [Note
that the last two sentences have no text representing the
                  audio.]

[A pack of Exocels is responsible for the security alert.  Eliminating them all
deals with the problem.]

Automated Voice:  "Area cleared.  Doors unlocked."

[The elevator finally stops, and you approach the door to the lab only to be
attacked by an ExoMass, one of the creatures that was in the containers on the
elevator.]

Automated Voice:  "Warning:  One of the holding cells has been breached.
{Intruder detected.}"  [Note that the second sentence has no
                  text to represent the audio.]

[Once the ExoMass is taken down, the doors around the Lab's Main Elevator are
unlocked.]

Automated Voice:  "Area cleared.  Doors unlocked."

[After working your way through the Cryogenic Room, you eventually come to the
Decontamination Room where Anna is located.]

Hansen:  "I'm sorry, Anna.  So this is it, Tom.  Two patients, one cure."

[Hansen gives Anna the antidote, then passes out.  He wakes up again later only
to find that Anna is no longer in the room.]

Bennett (on radio):  "Hansen!  Move it!  You've got work to do and you're
                     running out of time."

Hansen:  "I know.  Let's make a deal.  I get the notes, you take care of Anna.
         Get her out of here."

Bennett (on radio):  "You play hardball, Hansen, but you've got a deal."

Hansen:  "Right.  I'm on my way."

[You backtrack to The Main Drilling Module and head for the Habitation Module
again.]

Anna (on radio):  "Tom!  Tom!  You alright?"

Hansen:  "Anna, you saved my life!"

Anna (on radio):  "Just returning the favor!"

Hansen:  "Thanks all the same!"

Anna (on radio):  "You need to help me destroy this place."

Hansen:  "No, I need to find your father's notes.  Once I do that, Bennett will
find a way to get you out of here."

Anna (on radio):  "You'll die."

Hansen:  "Probably.  But you'll be safe, Anna.  That's what counts.  Goodbye."

[Something interesting going on in the Storeroom when you pass through, but you
won't get to find out what exactly it is quite yet...  An ExoMass attacks you
in the Rest Room, but thankfully there's no shortage of exposive barrels to
use on it.  A slide down the nest thing here lands you in the Technical
Basement, and a hallway there leads you up to the Main Corridor.  The door to
the dorm is locked.]

Hansen:  "I gotta find a way to get into the science personnel's dorm."

[Another door nearby leads to the Showers.]

Hansen:  "There must be a way to get from this room into the science
         personnel's dorm."

[As luck would have it, there just happens to be a massive duct standing wide
open at ground level, conveniently leading directly to The Scientists'
Dormitory.  Kamsky's laptop is on a dresser next to a bunk.]

Hansen:  "I've found Kamsky's laptop."

Bennett (on radio):  "Good work.  Now attach your headset to the USB port and
                     start uploading the data."

Hansen:  "I'm on it, chief.  Antidote file is incoming."

Bennett (on radio):  "Got it.  What's next?"

Hansen:  "Nothing.  I'm pulling the plug."

Bennett (on radio):  "Don't try to be funny, Hansen."

Hansen:  "Hey, according to you, that file is all you really need."

Bennett (on radio):  "You listen good, Hansen!  You get that uplink working
right now!  I want that data!"

Hansen:  "You want the rest of this, come get it yourself."

[Your conversation with Bennett ends, and you switch to talking to Anna.]

Hansen:  "Hey, is that offer to blow up this place still open?"

Anna (on radio):  "Tom!  Yes, yes, of course!"

Hansen:  "Great.  Tell me what I have to do."

Anna (on radio):  "I found some of the explosives supply, but I don't have
enough for both platforms.  There's a supply room below the
waterline where you can get more."

Hansen:  "Security?"

Anna (on radio):  "Of course.  I'll call you with the code when I find it, and
I'll mark the spots where you need to set the charges.  I
know everything there is to know about this place, including
                  how to destroy it."

[You unlock the door leading to the Main Corridor and head out.]

Anna (on radio):  "Hansen!  The code is 1-9-0-1-2.  You'll need to go in
                  through the main lab elevator."

Hansen:  "Got it!"

Anna (on radio):  "Just be careful."

Hansen:  "You, too."

[You have very little trouble getting to the Lab's Main Elevator and down into
the Maintenance Room.  Tons of zombies and an ExoMass are waiting for you
here.]

Automated Voice:  "Warning:  The automatic defense system is active.  Repeat,
the automatic defense system is active."

[Careful use of the explosive barrels, valves, and fire extinguishers can save
you a ton of ammunition.  Once everything in the room's been eliminated, the
security system deactivates.]

Automated Voice:  "Area cleared.  Doors unlocked."

[A door in the rear of the Maintenance Room leads to the Ammo Warehouse.  Tons
of laser mines are set up in here, so you must crawl through slowly.  To make
matters worse, the place is loaded with explosive barrels, and an ExoSpecter
is waiting for you inside.  You find the explosives.]

Hansen:  "Got the C4 charges."

[After fighting the ExoSpecter, you return to the Maintenance Room.  More
zombies are waiting for you.]

Automated Voice:  "Warning:  The automatic defense system is active.  Repeat,
the automatic defense system is active."

[Nothing all too difficult though, so you quickly eliminate them.]

Automated Voice:  "Area cleared.  Doors unlocked."

Hansen:  "I've got the C4!"

Anna (on radio):  "I've marked the places for you to set the charges.  Start
with the underwater elevator, then take care of the bridge
control room which is next to the scientific module, and
finish with the room before the heliport gate."

Hansen:  "I'll meet you there when I'm done."

[Note that there wasn't any text on the screen for the preceeding three
entries.  Not on the tape I had, anyway - it's possible that I cleared the
room at a bad time, causing the other text to get forced off when the
automated voice came on or something.]

===============================================================================
                ---------------------------------------------------
1.15)  Get the C4 and Place the Charges in the Right Order
                ---------------------------------------------------
===============================================================================
===============================================================================

[Backtracking to the Underwater Elevator doesn't take long, and you place the
first charge.  It blows as you're running back through the Underwater Tunnel,
so you have to run fast before the water swaps you.  It doesn't take long to
get to the Bridge Control Room from the Lab's Main Elevator either, and that
charge is a little less dangerous to place.  Last stop is the heliport area,
and the path is uneventful - until you reach the Storeroom, that is.]

Hansen:  "What the...  Oh, man."

[Several ExoMass enemies will pound their way in through the ceiling.  You can
either fight them or try to ignore them, but either way, the door to The Lower
Corridor has to be unlocked again before you can progress.  You head up the
catwalk and press the button on the console.]

Hansen:  "It's opening."

[You enter The Lower Corridor only to find that it's literally crawling with
Exocels.  Luckilly, they're hardly a threat.  Of course, the ExoMass around
the corner by the stairs is, so you'll have to hurry or prepare for a fight.
The last X for the charge is just around the first corner in The Upper
Corridor.  You place it, then run all the way out across the Heliport Access
walkway into the Storage Shed.]

Hansen:  "Mission accomplished."

Anna (on radio):  "I'm near the walkway between platforms.  There's a
helicopter on the other one.  They were repairing it when I
left.  If it's working, I can fly us out of here."

Hansen:  "You learned to fly a chopper?"

Anna (on radio):  "I had to do something with my time here."

Hansen:  "Beautiful.  I'm on my way."

===============================================================================
===============================================================================
                                  ---------------
                           1.16)  Kill Dr. Kamsky
                                  ---------------
===============================================================================
===============================================================================

[Of course, the trip through the Storage Shed won't be simple - there's another
ExoMass in there.  Even better yet is the Transit Room, where two ExoShades
are waiting for you.  Once you make it through to The Heliport, Anna is
waiting for you.  Only one thing left to do...]

Hansen:  "Anna!"

Anna:  "Tom!  Just a few charges left to set."

[The large monster that rescued Anna from the water earlier bursts through the
walkway Tom's on, sending him launching towards the platform near Anna.  In
case you didn't figure it out from before, this thing is Doctor Kamsky, Anna's
father.]

Kamsky:  "And where do you think you're going with my daughter?"

Anna:  "Papa?"

Hansen:  "I'll keep you covered, Anna.  Do what you have to."

[You must continuously hit Kamsky in the back with lots of weapons so he'll
focus on you instead of Anna.]

Anna:  "Tom!  Just a few charges left to set."

[You're using pretty much all of your ammo on Kamsky, but it doesn't seem to be
hurting him at all.]

Hansen:  "I'd better keep searching corpses for ammo."

Anna:  "Just one more."

[The charges are eventually set, and Anna meets you at the entrance to the
helipad.]

Kamsky:  "Anna!"

Hansen:  "Get to the chopper.  I'll hold him off!"

[Anna runs towards the chopper.  Kamsky continues to attack you.]

Anna:  "I have the chopper off the ground!"

Hansen:  "Then get over here!"

Anna:  "I can't get close until you kill him!"

Hansen:  "I'm doing my best!  This guy seems invincible.  I'm gonna have to get
closer.  I'm gonna have to get right up close and personal."

[When you get close to Kamsky, he'll grab you and pick you up.  When he does,
you use your hand gun and blast him in the face.  After several of those in a
row, he'll finally fall.  Anna swings the chopper in and drops a rope ladder.]

Anna:  "Hurry!  Get in!"

Hansen:  "Let's get out of here.  It's all right.  I'll take care of this."

[You take the detonater switch from Anna.]

Anna:  "Papa...  I'm sorry..."

Hansen:  "Goodbye, Papa."

[Hansen presses the button, and the rig blows up.  The chopper flies away into
the night, and that's the end of the game.  Leaves quite a lot unexplained, I
know...]

This section includes a list of any character that gets named directly or
indirectly at any point in the game, including names mentioned in the many
documents you can find on the ground throughout the game.  If you'd like to
read complete texts of every document, you can do so in section 2.00 of my
walkthrough, found here:

           http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/cold_fear.txt

The documents cover a great deal of information that isn't covered through the
main game script, so if you want to get as much out of the story as possible,
you should definitely read the documents.
