INTRODUCTION                                                             [INTR]
===============================================================================

Ys: Memories of Celceta is a PS Vita game released in Japan in 2012. It comes
on the heels of 2010's Ys Seven for the PSP.

As with all Ys adventures, the main protagonist is fiery-haired swordsman Adol
Christin. In this outing, Adol has lost his memories and must travel into the
dangerous and mysterious Great Forest to get them back.

As with all Ys games, Memories of Celceta moves along at a fast clip, and
offers some diversions apart from the main narrative.

===============================================================================
COMBAT                                                                   [COMB]
===============================================================================

Ys: Memories of Celceta uses a real-time combat system. Each character earns
special attacks as he or she levels up, which can be set to button
combinations. Special attacks can be beefed up to level 3, based on frequency
of use.

Each character also gets an EXTRA skill that can be activated by the L button
once the bar on the lower right of the screen fills up. Later in the game, the
Hero's Ring accessory changes the EXTRA skill to something more powerful.

Like in Ys Seven, the player can switch between characters on the field. This
becomes necessary when facing enemies that are weak to certain types of
weapons, which are:

1. Slash: swords and halberds
2. Smash: gloves and maces
3. Pierce: knives and spears

Players can also learn two useful tricks: Flash Guard and Flash Move. Both
require a good sense of timing, as you must block or jump just as the enemy's
blow comes. Flash Move has the added bonus of causing enemies to slow down
for a limited time. Meanwhile, the Flash Bracelet accessory restores HP after
a successful Flash Guard.

===============================================================================
WALKTHROUGH                                                               [WAL]
===============================================================================

The story begins with Adol stumbling around in a town, which turns out to be...

**********
* CASNAN *
**********

After the end of the cut scenes, Duren will introduce Adol (and the player)
to some of the basics of the game. Follow all of Duren's suggestions to move
the story forward. Then head to the mines, to the southwest.

After the scenes, go inside the mine. The left is a dead end. Go right past
the monolith and into the mine proper. Duren will give a combat tutorial here.
His "Smash" weapon is effective against the enemies with exoskeletons, while
Adol's "Slash" is good against slime-type monsters.

Follow the path deeper into the mine. Remember to hit the large rocks that
also show up on your minimap on the upper right of the screen. They will yield
coal, which is a core ingredient for refining metals.

The locked gate can be opened after you use Duren's "Pick Lock" ability on
the treasure chest to the northeast. Go inside and follow the path until you
reach the second monolith. Save your game and go inside to find a boss.

> Boss: Aldovoss, the Awakening Armored Beast
> Level 3, HP 1240, EXP 123, no weakness

Dodge and strike is one strategy here. Use your characters' EXTRA skill as
soon as it becomes available to remove a good chunk of boss HP.

After the fight, go into the room with the statue. Then warp back using the
monolith. Governor General Griselda will meet you outside the mine and bring
you to her office to ask you to map the Great Forest.

There are four subquests available in Casnan right now. More will be added to
the board as the plot progresses (see ADDI), but for now, here's what's up:

1) To Milk a Fabros
Client: Mucho, inn
Reward: 1,000G
Tip: Head toward the marked flag on the Beast Plains map. Walk slowly up
behind the fabros and press the action button to milk it. Return to Mucho for
your reward.

2) Honey Potions
Client: Soldier Wallace, government building cafeteria
Reward: Bitter Potion x 3
Tip: Exchange the Brittle Bones he gives for Sturdy Bones and sell for 300G,
then buy the potions.

3) Purchasing Iron Ore
Client: Goldsmith, weapon shop basement
Reward: 5,000G
Tip: Mine rocks in the Casnan mine or the Beast Plains for 20 iron ores.

4) Bear on the Plains
Client: Luluca, inn
Reward: 2,000G
Tip: Head toward the marked flag on the Beast Plains. Be sure to level up
before trying to defeat the Langritz, which is level 8 and has 633 HP.

****************
* BEAST PLAINS *
****************

Your objective is the Forest of Dawn, to the northwest. If you talked to
Mucho and Luluca, there will be flags marking the location of the fabros and
the Langritz. See above for tips in completing those quests.

When you're ready, head past the monolith. There will be a cut scene involving
a sapling. Afterwards, go into the forest proper.

******************
* FOREST OF DAWN *
******************

In the forest, check the map often to see the locations of memory lights.
Head towards them whenever they show up.

Touch the monolith nearby. You can explore the areas to the left and the
right, but they will eventually lead to dead ends. Be careful of the Bozuonga
to the right -- it's level 18 with 2370 HP.

The way forward, for now, is north. Make sure to check out the Waterfall Cave,
marked on the map. Leave and go east and north again for another monolith. The
north of this area has a lot of plants and rocks if you want to collect
materials. Your objective is to the west. Keep heading in that direction
until you see another monolith.

At this point, your map should be showing two options: the river to the west,
and the Great Tree nearby. We're going to the Great Tree first.

From the forest exit, head east into the Forest Labyrinth. The trick here is
to look for white flowers near the exit. After the scene, head east past the
statue. Then go north twice, then south. You should see the statue again. Head
east out of the labyrinth.

You'll make camp here. Head east to return to the Forest of Dawn. Go right and
push the log to connect to the previous area. Then follow the path to take the
southwestern exit.

*****************
* GIDONA CRATER *
*****************

The Great Tree towers in the background. Head toward the monolith to the north.
Before you head east into Comodo, exit north. You will be back in the Forest
of Dawn Stream. Lower the drawbridge to connect to the previous area. Now exit
south into Gidona Crater. This time, go right at the monolith.

**********
* COMODO *
**********

After the scene, choose to sneak out. Walk slowly so the patrols don't catch
you. When you go all the way up to the spot with the memory light, touch it
for a flashback where Adol can talk to all the villagers.

Another scene will follow. You have to go to the Ancient Burrow, which you
can get to through the southwestern exit once you leave the village. Follow
the path until you reach the monolith.

******************
* ANCIENT BURROW *
******************

Karna will now join the party. Her weapon has "Pierce" properties. After the
fight and the scene, go to the easternmost part of the first area to
reveal Karna's skill. Exit north once she opens up a path. Follow the path
in the next area.

Here, you will see three exits marked on the minimap where the tiny enemies
emerge. Ignore them for now and go east toward the next area. Have Duren use
his skill to open up the locked chest near the exit. You will need three of
these slate fragments to complete this dungeon.

In the next area, go to the southeastern ledge so Karna can throw her knife.
Now exit by going north and east.

Follow the path, past the unreachable chest on the left, and go to the ledge
to the northwest. ONLY HIT THE FIRST TWO TARGETS. The third target will land
on the treasure chest! If you do this by mistake, just exit and enter the area
again. Now touch the monolith and save.

> Boss: Melldrabie, the Purgatorial Hornet
> Level 14, HP 6140, EXP 2200, no weakness

Karna is a good lead character here, since she can strike from a distance and
seems to have greater speed than Adol or Duren. Watch out for its dive attack.

After defeating the boss, go into the next area to receive the Dwarf Bracelet.
Now you can access the tiny areas. Go into the nearby tunnel and exit south.
You're back in the room where you found the first fragment. Make sure you turn
back to normal size because your defense is not up to snuff as a dwarf!

Shrink again and head into the tunnel to the left of where you just came from.
Ignore the exit to the south; it just leads back to the room you just exited.
Go north into a big-person area and fight off the monsters so you can shrink
again and go into the western tunnel for a chest containing the second slate
fragment. Remember: Duren can open locked chests!

Return to the main area and go north to mine rocks. Your final destination is
to the east. In this area, go all the way and exit to the right for the chest
you passed earlier on your way to the monolith. Have Karna open a path to the
previous area if you want.

You now have three fragments. Go back into the tunnel and go north this time.
Touch the monolith and use the Vita's touch screen to arrange the pieces
properly. Now save and prepare for another fight with a grandly-named boss.

> Boss: Glucarius, the Great Squilla of Extermination
> Level 16, HP 6140, EXP 4190, no weakness

Keep pounding at this boss and save your EXTRA attack until it does its
ultimate move: rolling up into a ball and slamming into everything. Dodge
until it smacks into a wall and gets dizzy, and then lay into its head.
Unleash the attack you've been storing. Rinse and repeat.

After the scene, return to Comodo. You will lose Karna, but get a chance to do
three subquests:

1) Sword Training
Client: Lindsay, top level
Reward: 2,000G
Tip: Adol will have to fight Duren.

2) A Fresh Meal
Client: Edea, standing near the deer by the chief's house
Reward: 2,500G
Tip: You should have 10 Fresh Leaves by now. If not, exchange for Rotting
Leaves.

3) The Monkey King
Client: Agent Theresa, community center
Reward: 3,000G
Tip: Head toward the marked flag at the Gidona Crater. Leveling up helps,
as does flash guard or leaping away every time it brings down its fists.

You can now return to Casnan by going north to the Great Forest and teleporting
to the Forest of Dawn entrance, then using the Beast Plains monolith to return
to the city. Governor General Griselda will give you cash, which is always
welcome in this game.

If you choose to continue to the river marked on the map, exit Comodo and go
north to the stream. Lower the bridge if you haven't already, and exit west.

**************
* MISTY PEAK *
**************

The trick in this area is to keep heading downhill. One of the explorers will
say as much later. First, head east downhill, then east downhill again. In the
next area, the downhill path is to the south. Now go west, past the rock, and
continue down the path. Here, go immediately down the hill, then go left. This
area has a monolith. Go past it to make camp.

*********************
* ALGON RIVER BASIN *
*********************

Follow the path toward the monolith to the north. To the right of the monolith
is a good area for leveling up, if you want. Otherwise, continue north into
the next village.

**********
* SELRAY *
**********

Same deal with Comodo: a bad incident for which Adol is blamed, followed by an
investigation around the village, and then it's off to a dungeon.

You will have Ozma in your party, whose spear has a "Pierce" type attack,
like Karna's knives. Head south to the Spardas' lair.

***********************
* SACRED BEASTS' LAIR *
***********************

Your object here is to make your way into the depths of the structure by using
Ozma's wall-piercing skill to flood certain areas.

The northern room contains treasure chests, including one with a slate fragment
required to complete the dungeon. Go back to the main area. This time, go into
the western room. Both the north and south have water-filled areas where Ozma
can pierce the wall. Do so for both areas.

In both cases, you will end up back in the main area. Now swim over to the
northeastern set of stairs and climb up to the monolith. Save and prepare for
a boss fight.

> Boss: Volnake, Serpent of the Rapids
> Level 13, HP 10200, EXP 1772, no weakness

This fight shouldn't be too hard. Watch out for its water spray attacks.

When you defeat it, go north into the next room for your prize: the Hydra
Scales, which allow you to go underwater.

Return to the main area and collect the treasure chests at the bottom. Now swim
over to the eastern room. Go north and pierce the wall to reach an area with a
chest. Go back into the room and this time go south. Swim into the tunnel and
go north to another area. This area has a Y-intersection. The left path leads
to a chest. The right path leads to a locked chest with a piece of the puzzle
inside. Have Duren open it.

Go back the way you came. Now swim south and go up the stairs. Cross the bridge
to reach another area.

Go into the water and have Ozma destroy the rocks until he creates a bridge
that your characters can cross over. Follow the path to the northeastern exit.

Go into the water and choose the left path for the final fragment. Backtrack
and go east and north. Follow the path up to the final monolith. The path to
the right leads to an area where you can have Ozma hit a pillar to connect to
the previous floor.

Solve the puzzle and swim to the next area. There will be a scene before the
boss fight.

> Boss: Angoraboras, the Gluttonous Tyrant
> Level 16, HP 4190, EXP 3455, no weakness

You will be on a strip of land. The boss likes to jump across the island.
Attack it when it comes to a stop or when it makes itself dizzy from leaping
around. Your target is the round thing dangling from its forehead.

After the scene, you will return to Selray. Ozma will separate from the party,
but you now have access to Selray's subquests:

1) Shopkeeper for a Day
Client: Ray, village entrance
Reward: Recommended Goods Set
Tip: Just remember his directions about discounts.

2) Seeking Moisturizer
Client: Bonnie, southwest bridge
Reward: 2,500G
Tip: If you don't have 10 Clear Liquids, exchange them for Filthy Liquids.

3) A Swarm of Black
Client: Agent Bertha, community center
Reward: 3,000G
Tip: The Jade Cave is two exits east and north of the town. Level up first by
going against the Crocles. The enemies inside the Jade Cave aren't too tough,
but be careful not to be swarmed in the main area.

4) Super Weapon Test
Client: Syriu, blacksmith
Reward: Weapon of choice
Tip: I went for the sword and only equipped it when I had to fight the
Rangoas, which are in the western part of the Forest of Dawn.

Next stop: Casnan.

**********
* CASNAN *
**********

There will be two subquests that must be completed to move the story forward:

1) Challenge!
Clients: Evan and Lyle, town square
Reward: Gold ore x 5
Tip: Lyle gives hints. The gold ores look like small yellow chunks. They are
in: i) the left of the bar, ii) the sink in the mine chief's house, iii) the
stable, iv) the back alley, and v) a tent in front of the government building.
During the search, Adol will be prompted to ask certain characters about the
tower or the Primeval Lands. Ask away!

2) Miners Wanted
Client: Wagner, mine
Reward: variable
Tip: Start with the closest rocks and go clockwise. I got eight gold pieces.

After a scene, you will be reunited with Karna. There will other cut scenes.
Now head back to Selray. Ozma will join you, too.

Go north of Selray and solve the puzzle to get into the Underground Ruin.
Adol's notebook contains the hint for the puzzle.

*********************
* UNDERGROUND RUINS *
*********************

After the scene, go past the statue into the next area. Go west and then south
for a chest. Go up and down into the water, through the tunnel. To the right is
a treasure chest. Now go left to go through another tunnel and up some stairs.
Go all the way left and then down for a chest and a locked chest. Exit west.

Use your Dwarf Bracelet to get to the next area. At the split, go up and right.
In the next room, go up the stairs and follow the path to a chest. Now
backtrack, shrink, and go left this time.

Go down the stairs on the right and follow the path to get to the exit. Shrink
and head west to the next area. There's another locked chest here -- go south
and then east. There's another chest to the west. Backtrack and take the upper
left exit. Touch the monolith and prepare to battle a boss.

> Boss: Elvaron, the Blue Cavalier
> Level 16, HP 6600, EXP 7094, no weakness

This boss may take a little longer because you have to attack its legs first.
Otherwise, attack and dodge should work.

Go up the stairs after the battle. There will be a scene when you get to the
other side.

****************
* PLATEAU PATH *
****************

Touch the monolith and follow the path up. In the next area, go right to an area
with a memory light. Backtrack and go north, across the rope bridge. Touch the
monolith and go into the town.

************
* HIGHLAND *
************

After the scenes, go out through the window between the fireplace and the
altar. Go left and follow the girl up the stairs.

After the scenes, Calilica will guide you around town. You need to talk to
the following people:

Simon & Betty - In the southeasternmost house
Werner - Inside the pink building, by the bar
Dario - In the house to the left of the mayor's
Timali & Philemon - In the orange building to the west
Lisa & Mariana - Chapel

If you would like to activate an optional subquest, go behind the stables in
the southeast for a scene. See [ADDI] for Mishi details.

The group will decide on some grave robbing, so head back to the graveyard near
the Underground Ruins. Go back to the mayor. After another decision, leave
Highland through the northern exit.

**********************
* SANCTUARY APPROACH *
**********************

Go past the monolith and the currently-impassable left exit. Go north to the
next area. The north contains a chest, and all the way east is a memory light.
Backtrack and go to the next area.

Follow the path to the monolith and your next campsite. When you go north, you
will be struck by lightning. Once Calilica joins you, she can energize the
devices that protect you from lightning. Zigzag to activate the three in the
first area, and the four in the next area. Touch the monolith and enter the
tower.

***********************
* TOWER OF PROVIDENCE *
***********************

There are enemies here that look like treasure chests, so be careful. The
goal here is to use Calilica's skill to move deeper into the tower. The
first device is to the northwest. It will create a bridge leading to the
eastern side. Here, go to the rightmost area and use the Dwarf Bracelet to
get the chest. Backtrack and go left up the ramp into the next area.

This floor has Calilica energizing devices to move the floor so you can
proceed. The southwestern area has a chest. Go to the central area and
energize the device. Go to the newly opened path, energizing the devices
along the way. Remember to go back for the chest you passed. When you're
done, go right and up the ramp into the next area.

The premise is the same for this floor: energize the devices until you can
go around the room clockwise and up the ramp.

The next floor has a monolith and a waiting boss.

> Boss: Krell-Emecia, Guardian of the Storms
> Level 24, HP 5220, EXP 10611, no weakness

This boss is accompanied by Zandabal (HP 258), small sphere-shaped artifacts,
and Litonileah (HP 1470), stationary artifacts with a magnetic force field.
Destroy them to deactivate the main bad guy.

When you defeat the boss, you receive the Gale Shoes, which allow you to run
at high speeds and up walls. Use it when you're in the next area, dodging
attacks along the way. At the next floor, energize the device to raise the
platform, and use the Gale Shoes to run on the newly raised platforms.
They will fall behind you.

Stop in the middle path and step on the first tile to fall through to a raised
platform with a chest. Jump down and go right to use the elevator to go back
up. This time, run at full speed to get to the other side. There's a chest to
the northeast. The exit is up the ramp, near the center of the room.

On this floor, energizing the device on the right opens a challenge: run
through the swinging maces and reach the chest before the gates close. When
you're done, backtrack and activate the device to the east to lower the gates
so you can go up the ramp to the top floor.

Touch the monolith and go right to grab the contents of a chest before facing
the boss.

> Boss: Krell-Emecia, Guardian of the Storms
> Level 28, HP 8510, EXP 15905, no weakness

Destroy its arms before going in for the kill. When you defeat it, you will
finally meet Eldeel. After the scene, you will return to Highland. Fight off
the masked men and watch the next scenes. When you regain control, talk to
the mayor. He will give you the Golden Wings, which let you travel unrestricted
between monoliths! You can now return to any place you've previously visited.
I recommend going back to Casnan to report to Governor General Griselda and
get some cash. Or, you can try your hand at the subquests in Highland:

1) Unleashing Artifacts
Client: Philemon, Philemon's Workshop
Reward: Dwarf Bracelet+
Tip: You should have one emerald and one topaz by now. Refine if necessary.

2) Purchasing Silver
Client: Oona, item shop
Reward: 10,000G
Tip: Refine 3 Silver Ingots at Casnan using coal and silver ore.

3) Wayward Guardians
Client: Mariana, chapel
Reward: 5,000G
Tip: The guardians are in the area near the tower. Be careful not to get
surrounded.

Next stop: the Ashen Forest.

******************
* TABLE MOUNTAIN *
******************

Warp to the entrance of the Tower of Providence. Exit west. Follow the path
all the way down and to the ledge to have Karna open up a path back to
Sanctuary Approach. Exit left.

The path makes a wide split here, but they both lead to the same place. Grab a
treasure chest at the southernmost point and exit right.

Here, you can choose to go up at the split for a locked chest. The monolith and
the exit are to the south. Make camp. To the west is the Ashen Forest, which
you currently can't explore. From camp, exit south and descend to the base of
the mountain.

***********************
* SUBTERRANEAN FOREST *
***********************

Follow the path. Ignore the first exit you encounter and forge ahead until you
see another exit leading north.

*********
* DANAN *
*********

After the scene, you can go around talking to the villagers. Go to the elder's
house, which shows up as purple on the map, on the third floor. There will be
another scene and you will fight a boss.

> Boss: Sol-Galba, the White Galbalan
> Level 29, HP 7110, EXP 21909, no weakness

Nothing special here -- just attack and dodge, attack and dodge.

After the scene, you can now complete Danan subquests:

1) Secret Synthesis
Client: Yami, lab
Reward: Elixirs
Tip: You should have everything at this point. If not, check the monster
manual for their item drops.

2) Good Luck Charm
Client: Mikuri, second floor landing
Reward: Tablets
Tip: Give her the Silver Axe if you want the 100% on the subquests. You can
have another one crafted.

3) Twilight Flowers
Client: Greta, library
Reward: 10,000G
Tip: Head to the marked location in the Subterranean Forest. An easy fight.

Now to the Ashen Forest!

****************
* ASHEN FOREST *
****************

Frieda will join you. She has "Slash"-type attacks, like Adol. Watch for
memory lights in this forest.

Leave Danan and go right and up through the exit you passed earlier. Touch
the monolith to and proceed to the forest entrance. After the scene, have
Frieda create a path past the miasma. Go east and then south for a chest.
Now backtrack and take the north exit.

Here, a chest awaits to the northwest. The middle-north exit is blocked for
now, so have Frieda seal the fissure to exit east. This will allow you to
connect to your last camp.

Now go all the way back to the area with the first chest, and exit west this
time. There's another chest in the north, in the curvy area, if you want it.

The exit in this area is to the west, but the north and south sections offer
plenty of materials and some treasure.

Remember this next area for a later subquest. The south has large roots off
the ground, and there's a floating black ball here. When you go north,
Frieda can open a path either to the left or the right. To the left is a chest
and a strange tree-looking thing. To the right is the exit.

Here, you can make a camp if you go to the westernmost exit, but cannot pass
through the Forest of Spores yet. The other two exits lead to the same area,
but the northern one offers a tantalizing view of an ancient temple in the
distance. Anyway, when you reach the very large marsh area, head for the exit
to the far east.

Touch the monolith and fight your way up to the barred Frog's Inn. To open the
gate, place rocks on the scale nearby. Go inside and fight a boss.

> Boss: Ribbi-Roi, Master of the Grotto
> Level 35, HP 8560, EXP 29985, no weakness

Kill the small frogs first and then focus on Ribbi-Roi. He should go down easy,
especially if you've been gaining mad EXP by defeating Modagra-Slefs in the
marshes.

Your prize is the Beast King's Claws, which let you tear down those tall white
barriers. Practice outside the Frog's Inn to reach a chest on a western ledge.

Now backtrack to the large marsh area. If you go south, you can connect to a
previous section of the Ashen Forest. Take either the north or southwestern
exit to reach the area where you can exit west to make camp.

********************
* FOREST OF SPORES *
********************

Leave the base camp and touch the monolith. Follow the path to the southern
exit, knocking down the barriers on the way to grab chests.

The next exit is north and requires the Beast King's Claws. Touch the monolith
and prepare for a boss battle.

> Boss: Mustrum, the Deformed Nightmare
> Level 37, HP 12700, EXP 89803, no weakness

There are giant mushrooms called Polestol surrounding the arena. Destroy them
before focusing on Mustrum.

In the next area, use the Beast King's Claws to reach the chest to the
northeast. Go past it and exit further north and east.

***********************
* COLONIA BATTLEFIELD *
***********************

If you go north and go past into the next area, you will reach another monolith
and an impassable door.

Back in the first Colonia Battlefield area, head east for the monolith and
the exit.

******************************
* ELDUKE, THE RUINED CAPITAL *
******************************

After the scene, head up the steps where there aren't any soldiers. Go down
the stairs after the other scene. When Karna senses something, follow the
narrow, twisty path into the Roo's Nest.

**************
* ROO'S NEST *
**************

The Grand Roo in the back is the only one who speaks human, but the merchant
near the entrance will sell and exchange materials despite the language
barrier. There are great weapons and armor stocked here, and a new selection
for material exchanges.

After the conversation with the Grand Roo, go back to the temple grounds. Up
and right is a treasure chest with the Sacred Beast's Collar. Now you can talk
to the Roos.

Exit to the east of the temple. Remember to go south past the path to the
Roo's Nest to open up a bridge connecting to the Ashen Forest.

********************
* ELDUKE OUTSKIRTS *
********************

You must go to Mt. Vesuvio and Lake Tolmes. Let's tackle the mountain first.
Head north and touch the monolith before exiting.

***************************
* MT. VESUVIO: SNOWY PEAK *
***************************

Follow the path. You can plow through the snow barriers with your unleashed
Gale Boots or Beast King Claws. Go up the ledge midway up on the left so Karna
can open up a path. Go up into the cave.

Proceed until you reach a point where Frieda can seal two fissures. Seal the
right one first so you can get blown up to the left ledge and grab a treasure
chest. Then seal the left fissure to go up the right ledge. A small exit to
the left leads to a spot outside where there's a chest at the midpoint.

Return to the cave. You will slide down to the bottom. You can fall off to the
right side to mine a rock. Otherwise, head out the lower left exit at the
bottom of the slide for a chest. Go back inside and approach the northern exit
for a scene.

Fight off the Masked Division soldiers and leave the cave. Go up the mountain,
watching for the big snowballs hurled by the Avabish. There's a chest at the
northeasternmost point. Backtrack to a ledge to have Karna use her skill. Use
the new path to enter another cave.

Head toward the monolith to the north. Save and prepare for a boss fight.

> Boss: Bami, the Enchanting Magician
> Level 43, HP 18100, EXP 51290, no weakness

You should be fine if you've leveled up enough and mastered Flash Move and/or
Flash Guard. She surrounds herself with Mesarabadi, bat-looking creatures with
663 HP. They're weak against Pierce. Get rid of them first and then keep
hitting Bami with special attacks and EXTRAs you build up. Watch out for her
area lightning attacks.

After the scene, go back to the Roo's Nest. The other half of the Moon Mask is
to the northeast. From Elduke Outskirts, take the southwest exit. The path
splits in this next area, but they both lead to the same northeastern exit.

The Lake Tolmes Ruins are now in view. Grab the treasure chest to the left of
the path leading to the ruins. After the scene, touch the monolith and enter.

*********************
* LAKE TOLMES RUINS *
*********************

Go left and climb the stairs to the top. Go south for a chest. Now exit north.
Use the stairs to the left to go down into the water. There's a chest to the
south of the platform you were on.

Go up, past where there's water gushing through a crack in the wall, and all
the way to the right. Climb the stairs and exit south.

You are now back in the main room, but on the highest eastern floor. Go all
the way south and west for a chest. Then use the right exit that you passed on
the way. Have Adol touch the memory light. At the second circular platform, go
down into the water and head west for a chest, and then north for a locked
chest.

Take the northwestern exit to reach three chests underwater. Backtrack and swim
in the canal to go out the middle west exit.

Make your way up to the north and have Calilica energize the device to flood
the room. You can now go down the ramps near the center of the area to grab an
underwater treasure chest. Swim down and to the west to where the wall was
cracked (and now collapsed). Swim up to the ramp to exit northwest.

Go into the water and grab the chest to the north. Now swim south and climb
out of the water to go to the eastern exit for a chest. Go back inside and
leave through the southern exit.

Go north for a chest. Backtrack and go up the stairs and north to energize
another device. You can now reach the treasure chest at the lowest floor on
the right, if you want.

After the scene, make your way up the ramps, touch the monolith, and prepare
for a boss fight.

> Boss: Gadis, the Sadistic Beast Tamer
> Level 43, HP 21700, EXP 51290, no weakness

Gadis is joined by Dagbanthers (HP 804) in this fight. Kill them quickly when
they appear and then dodge to avoid Gadis' attempts to grab you, shoot you
with rockets, and jump on you. He has a lot of HP so be patient and use
healing items aplenty. His worst attack is a sweeping fire beam that decimates
HP! This is absolutely the time to use that Flash Move.

After the scene, head back to the Roo's Nest. Remnos will have you talk to the
Roda Tree/Grand Roo, who will give you Artifact Sword Emeraude for finishing
off "living weapons" in the artifact laboratory. Only Adol can do the final
blow.

If you've been to Colonial Battlefield, warp to the monolith there. Otherwise,
make your way there from the Forest of Spores or Elduke.

***********************
* COLONIA BATTLEFIELD *
***********************

Use Gazock's services if needed, then go and defeat the guardian at the
entrance.

The northeastern exit leads to a dead end for now, so go down to the
hexagonal area and take the eastern exit. Remember to switch to Adol to
defeat the living weapons planted in the ground.

Exit north up the stairs. Head south for a scene. You will now have an
auto-healing NPC! Make sure she's always at least within sight of the party.

Continue south to get to the next area. Use the Dwarf Bracelet to reach a
place where you can go around and go down some stairs for a chest and a
locked chest. Backtrack to where you first put on the Dwarf Bracelet and make
your way west and north to the next set of stairs. There's a locked chest in
the upper right corner near the stairs.

Follow the path to exit east. Now go north. Go up and west for the monolith.
There's a chest up and to the left, past the first living weapon. Grab the
contents and follow the path to the southwest exit.

There are two exits in this room. Take the north one to go down some stairs
to a room with three chests. Backtrack and wind your way toward the stairs at
the eastern exit.

Use the Dwarf Bracelet to shrink and enter a tunnel. Go left at the split for
a place with a locked chest. Return to the split and go straight down this
time.

At the split with the living weapon, go right to reach a room with a chest and
a locked chest. Backtrack and go north to head down a set of stairs.

Follow the path through the mirror image of the first area you entered in this
dungeon. Exit north to a room where you can connect to the previous area by
stepping on a floor button to the southeast.

Go north and up the stairs. Cross the bridge to the monolith. A boss awaits.

> Boss: Sol-Galba, the Muddled Galbalan
> Level 47, HP 10700, EXP 60771, no weakness

Not really a tough boss. It has a limited area attack and the usual stomp/
shockwave move. Lay into it when it falls forward.

After the extended scene, warp back to the Roo's Nest so you can go into the
Temple of the Sun.

This is also a great time to report to Governor General Griselda in Casnan for
cash and, if you have most of the map completed, the Aeolus Urn, which pulls
gold and materials to you after you defeat enemies.

You can also warp to the towns to complete additional subquests. Check out the
[ADDI] section below for the full list.

When you're ready, go up the steps to the Temple of the Sun. There will be a
scene outside and a scene inside. Afterwards, a requisite boss fight.

> Boss: Eldeel, the Black-Winged God
> Level 48, HP 27700, EXP 65459, no weakness

He flies around a lot and has some limited area attacks, but otherwise he
isn't a tough boss.

There will be a scene, and the final dungeon will be revealed.

******************************
* IRIS, THE WORLD OF RECORDS *
******************************

This place has three areas: bronze, silver, and gold. Go to the center, touch
the monolith, and go left to enter the Bronze Area.

This is a floor-moving puzzle level. Go up and right to step on the first
glowing floor panel. Cross to the other side. There will be a choice  of two
panels. Step on the southern one. Use the new bridge to get to the locked chest
to the right. There's another chest to the south.

Backtrack and step on the northern panel this time. Go north and step on the
panel. Now step on the panel right in front of you and cross over to the
western part of the level. Grab the chest to the north, and proceed down
through the curving path for another puzzle.

Use the Dwarf Bracelet to get through, and read the sign at the other end to
raise your hand and deactivate it. Continue north and step on the panel. Go up
and left to step on another one. Then go south a short way for another panel.

Walk south some more and step on the panel on the right. This will open a path
to a golden chest. Backtrack and go all the way left for a chest. Step on the
nearby floor panel. Cross over straight ahead, then go left and down to the
panel. Go all the way up for a locked chest.

Go south and cross the brown bridge to step on the panel that is second from
the top. Go up and right to avoid the glowing floor panel on the left. Run
right and read the sign that tells you to use the Beast King's Claws. Do so.

Enter the left mirror and head southwest for a chest. Backtrack and enter the
mirror to the north. Go up and left, heading north for a chest. Make your way
back and go through the portal you passed earlier for another chest.

Backtrack and head east. Go through the southeastern portal and head south
for a chest. There's a locked chest to the northeast. Return through the
portal and go northeast. Go past the portal and follow the path all the way
for a chest.

Go back to the previous portal and go through. Go up and head southwest at the
split for a locked chest and two chests. Backtrack and go north for another
golden chest. Now you can go up to touch the monolith and fight the boss.

> Boss: Girguzalm, the Bronze Colossus
> Level 53, HP 33000, EXP 39674, no weakness

Hopefully you have enough EXP by now that this is a breeze.

Next: Iris' Silver Area.

This is an elements-based puzzle level. Go all the way to the right, past the
circular area, for a golden chest with the Wind Crest. Now go back to the
roundabout and choose to use it. Go north and let the wind carry you up.

Go up the ramps until you get to a spot where the wind can carry you up a ledge
on the left. Go all the way left for a locked chest. Return to the control area
and hold up the Wind Crest again. Walk down for a chest to the southeast with
the Rain Crest.

Return to the control panel and hold up the Rain Crest. Go up northwest and
swim through the pool, making sure to grab the contents of the submerged golden
chest on the way. Follow the path and go right at the split for a golden chest
and a locked chest. Backtrack and head northwest to another control panel.

Hold up the Wind Crest so you can go on the northern ledge using the wind for
a golden chest with the Sun Crest. Back at the panel, use the Sun Crest to
melt the ice on the southwest path. Make your way up, grab the chest on the
way, and continue up the ramps to get to the northeastern spot that has two
chests.

Head southwest and use the Wind Crest on the control panel. Take short trips
northeast, northwest, and northeast again to go up on a ledge with another
golden chest. Return to the control panel and use the Rain Crest. Go up the
southeast ramp and swim through the pool to get to the upper level.

Go right and use the elevator to descend to the previous area. At the control
panel to the right, use the Sun Crest. Return via elevator and use the Gale
Boots to run north and straight up the wall. Open the final golden chest,
touch the monolith, and fight the level's boss.

> Boss: Zerivutz, the Silver Colossus
> Level 53, HP 33000, EXP 39674, no weakness

Same as before; just use your tried-and-true techniques.

Next: Iris' Gold Area

This level requires rotating three circles to create paths toward control
panels. You have to match the glowing lines to the hexagon shapes to proceed.
I'm mostly going to describe how to get to the control panels.

Don't do anything yet; go up the default path and head right and down for a
chest. Now return to the panel.

You can reach the panel to the right, near the middle, by rotating the middle
circle to connect the yellow hexagon right in front of you to the one at the
four o'clock position. The last connection uses the innermost circle to
connect the yellow hexagon to the blue one with another control panel.

When you reach the spot, go into the mirror for a mini-battle. This will
unlock a seal in the center.

Now turn the middle circle to connect yourself to the northern yellow hexagon.
The outermost circle should be connecting the two hexagons to your right.
Follow this path and go through the mirror for another fight.

Exit and use this control panel to connect the two o'clock hexagon to the
twelve o'clock using the center circle. Use the innermost circle to connect to
the ten o'clock. Follow this path to a chest. Return to the control.

Have the second circle connect the two o'clock hexagon to the stairs to the
north, above the twelve o'clock hexagon. There is another control panel here.
Have the center circle connect to the ten o'clock, and the outer circle to the
next control panel, at the very left. Go through the mirror to fight and
remove the third seal.

Back at the control panel, connect the outer circle to the ten o'clock, and
the center circle to the final control panel. Go through the mirror and fight
to break the final seal.

To make your way back to the stairs, use the control panel to backtrack to the
panel on your left. Have the center circle connect to the ten o'clock, and the
outermost circle to the leftmost panel. Use the outermost circle to connect to
the ten o'clock, and the center circle to link back to the stairs.

Go up the steps, claim the contents of the golden chest, touch the monolith,
and fight the final mini-boss.

> Boss: Bulaghoul, the Golden Colossus
> Level 53, HP 33000, EXP 39674, no weakness

Same strategy: give it all you've got.

Warp back to the crossroads. You can now use the teleporter at the center to
go to the Central Area. Grab the golden chest behind you. Make your way north
to the monolith. This is it!

> Boss: Akasha-Glyph, the False God of Causality
> Level 53, HP 70600, EXP 97823, no weakness

This battle will take a while because of his high HP, and the fact that he has
multiple attack supports. They all look like columns, and they will try to
crush your party as Akasha-Glyph attacks simultaneously. There are red
Kut-Shells (5370 HP, weak against Slash), yellow Blo-Shells (5370 HP, weak
against Smash), and green Shu-Shells (5370 HP, weak against Pierce). Forberis
are blue all over and only have 938 HP.

Basically, keep running around, dodging, and attacking when you have the
chance. Store up EXTRA attacks as much as possible for the main body. Use your
healing and/or resurrection items as needed.

There will be extended scenes after the battle. Run out of the Temple of the
Sun. Scene after scene will follow. Just go with it, and fight your way up.
Don't try to kill everything; just get yourself to the top! Another fight
awaits at the peak.

> Boss: Phantom-Gruda, the Hollow Specter
> Level 56, HP 7220, EXP 131891, no weakness

Sure, his HP is low, but you're on your own. This is the final battle, so use
up all your items if you have to. When you're done, you will have completed
the game!

EXCHANGING, REFINING, AND REINFORCING                                    [EXCH]
===============================================================================

This section is intended to provide general tips for exchanging, refining, and
reinforcing, as these can help enormously throughout the game. I suggest
equipping the Silver Axe as soon as you find it, as it increases the drop rate
of rare items.

Each village has a person doing the exchanges, and another to do the
reinforcing and refining. Materials exchanged and reinforced depend on the
location. Paltheos has a Shop/Reinforcing Guide on GameFAQS if you want to
check it out.

It's a good idea to exchange crap materials at every opportunity, e.g. Rotten
Leaves for Fresh Leaves, Filthy Liquids for Clear Liquid, or Cracked Shell for
Sturdy Shell. Exchanging is free.

Refining requires coal, as well as ores and stones. It costs money to refine
your materials, but you can use it to earn some money back. For instance,
refining coal and gold ore into gold ingots costs 1,200G but you can sell it
for 3,000G, which gets you back more than what you spent.

Finally, reinforcing weapons and armor with different minerals, plant, and
animal materials changes their stats. For weapons, minerals offer additional
attack points, but many plant and beast materials will add properties that
inflict status effects to attacks. My favorite materials are Fierce Beast
Claws, Titanic Bone, Poisonous Organ, and Sturdy Shell. The Libra Flowers
are pretty decent, too.

For armor, I recommend choosing materials that increase the healing stat, so
that characters regain HP while moving around. Protection against common
statuses like paralysis is a close second priority.

Be careful while reinforcing, though -- it costs quite a bit, and you may want
to save up money to buy newer weapons and armor.
