[ABOUT THIS GUIDE]
This Boss FAQ is based on my other full FAQ and for those who only want to
know about the Bosses in this game. I define a Boss as an enemy that traps you
in a laser cage. Most of the bosses are similar so I've grouped them together.
I've also listed them in order of appearance.

(II) BOSS FAQ
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[Steel/Fire/Volt/Toxic/Cryo Soldier]
The Steel Soldier has two attacks: extending his hand and swinging his sword
down. When he stops to step back, he'll launch his hand. If he stops and lifts
his left leg, he'll swing his sword. After every attack he opens his cockpit to
look around, that's when you shoot or grenade him.
For the Elemental Soldiers, they have the same attacks and can also stab the
ground with their sword sending elemental shots to both sides. All the Soldiers
are weak to Caustics.
When he throws his hand, duck then jump to shoot or throw a grenade at him. Be
sure to duck again when you land. If you're both at a corner when he throws his
hand, crouch and deflect your shots off the corner toward the exposed cockpit.
When he attempts to use his sword, step back then shoot or grenade him when he
exposes himself. If you're trapped roll under when he jumps and shoot behind
him.
[Raid/Burning/Hazmat/Battery/Iceberg Rover]
The Rover has two attacks: it will fire its cannons at you twice (just duck)
then stop to raise itself high, firing spread shots to the ground.
The Elemental Rovers do the same thing only after they raise themselves they
fire their element toward the ground and 2 shots roll to both sides. All Rovers
are weak to Caustics.
Beating the Rovers is simple. Jump and shoot at its upper body, the lower part
will only deflect your shots.
Don't let the Rover trap you in the corners, so after it shoots at you twice
go in front of it and as it extends high roll through to the other side and
avoid the shots. As it heads for the direction it's facing shoot its back.
[Blitzhound K9]
It'll first charge you when it flashes rainbow colors making it invincible.
The Blitzhound fires small missiles from its ears, shoot a laser while doing
1080's toward you and fires giant missiles from its behind. Avoid the rainbow
dashes, roll under when it jumps too close and jump or duck when avoiding the
missiles.
[Titan/Toxic/Tundra Trooper]
The Titan Trooper sports what looks like a metallic Tengu mask. Or the shoulder
pad of a Zaku. In any case, the Titan has 5 attacks: it jumps up then shoots
3 fireballs to the ground, it leaps to your position, tosses 3 bombs, jumps and
shoots two fireballs that roll in 2 directions and fires a glowing sun that
goes super nova at the corner.
The Toxic and Tundra Troopers have the same attacks, only that when they leap
high into the air to stomp you they will also fire their element to both sides.
The Titan is vulnerable from behind and when the pilot exposes themselves after
they toss the bombs or fire the sunball. Use these times to attack the Titan,
and roll under it when it tries to jump you. Run away from the bombs and get
away from the super nova. After it jumps straight up crouch in front of it to
avoid the fireballs.
[Munsterlander]
The Munsterlander has 4 attacks: it fires a laser beam, fires an energy blast,
drops mines and the pirate puppy jumps straight up to attack (I suppose).
From the start it will shoot a laser beam so jump on the platform once the
Munster activates. When it jumps to fire a energy blast shoot the Munster from
the edge of the platform then drop down to avoid the blast. When it drops down
shoot at it until it reaches you and jump up to the platform to avoid it.
Sometimes the Munster will stop directly below the platform. The dog will then
jump straight up (I guess to attack you if you're standing there) so jump off
and shoot the idle Munster.
When it starts dropping mines jump to the platform then jump shoot aiming down
at it while it passes by and stay on either edge to avoid the mines when it
shoots upward, or you can stand inbetween and fire at the Munster.
[Mega Loopers 1]
* For the mission Operation Lights Out
Roll or dash to the ladder on the left then shoot at it a bit before climbing
up the ladder. Near the edge of the middle opening shoot at it more before
dropping down and shooting up at it. Go under the ladder and repeat this
process over and over until the Mega Looper is destroyed.
Go to the East Wing and it's the same thing only mirrored.
[Doomsday/Hellfire Harrier]
The Baron has 4 attacks that are in sequence: first he'll hover down (you can
shoot up at him but don't touch the flames) then use 2 cannons to fire outside
going straight down. Then he'll sway in one direction while firing the cannons.
Depending on which side he sways the outer cannon will fire from the outside
going in. He'll then fly up and repeat the attacks.
When he goes up the second time he'll drop massive bombs one after another. He
will then hover above the ground and try to ram you while reminding you that
Claw is Law. This sequence is repeated until he retreats and you'll have to
find him to continue.
To avoid his first attack just stay directly below him and shoot. After the
shots face down he'll sway right the first time so roll left and let him sway
while firing. Quickly crouch in line with the tip of the outer wing and deflect
your shots to the Harrier until it goes up again to repeat. This time he will
sway to the left so mirror what you did before.
After the second time he goes up, stay on the side he flew from, crouch then
shoot the corners to deflect the shots and hit the bombs, or just shoot them
directly. Crouch on the corner and wait until the Baron hovers above the ground
then deflect your shots against the Harrier. After he moves forward get up and
keep shooting at him (avoid the jet fumes) as he yells at you and he goes up
again.
Once he starts to blink red he'll drop down straight down and fire a grenade
launcher left and right. He'll fly up again then crash at your position then
fire again. He'll keep repeating this until you finally blast his beard into
tiny particles.
* The Hellfire Harrier only moves around when it's blinking red.
[Kings of Violence]
* As soon as you get near the Ark they drop down on you so roll quickly and go
to the right corner!
The Kings of Violence have 3 kinds of attacks:
Jab you with their swords
Jump and throw their swords at you
Spinning around on the ground with their shells.
Don't waste your effort on these guys. The best time to attack them is after
they start spinning. If you went to the absolute corner there is a 99% they
cannot touch you when they try to jab.
IF they jump to throw their sword, roll under them, shoot them from behind
then run to the other side. Fire at them as they approach you.
IF they start to spin (assuming you're at the corner), just jump straight up
and jump again when they return. They will stop at the middle where you can
fire away as they approach you.
After a few spins they will jump to the opposite side so fire away as they
approach you again.
The idea is shooting at them from afar to land as many hits as possible.
They will start blinking red when you've inflicted enough damage. They then
jump on the Ark and fuse with it, giving them 6 new attacks:
Both will raise their arms and fire 4 energy balls at once to your position.
They will spin their weapons and swoop down at you.
They use the Ark to stomp you.
The Ark will stop at the center then shoot a beam into the sky. The skinny
guy will fly from above attacking in a X pattern where he aims toward the
right corner then the left corner on one side of the Ark, then does the same
on the other side.
From the center, they both will throw 3 swords at each side.
From a corner, they will activate a portal sending a giant snake and a
giant Triceratops attacking to the other side.
The best thing to do? Stay close to them. The bars protruding from the sides of
the Ark don't have collision, only the bottom, feet, sides and top can hurt
you. It may sound crazy but it works.
IF they both raise their arms, once you see the energy balls on their hands
just roll away as soon as they fire.
IF they start spinning their weapons, simply crouch.
IF they try to stomp you, run or roll away.
IF they stop at the center and shoot a beam into the sky, (assuming you've
stayed close to them where the bars are at) just jump straight up to avoid
the skinny guy's attack.
IF from the center they begin to throw their swords at you, simply crouch
(assuming you're where the bars are at).
IF they stop at a corner to activate their portal, run further to that corner
to be behind the portal.
Jump and fire at them whenever you get the chance, and if you've been staying
close to them all this time they'll be blinking red in no time so you can
finish them off.
[Prime Soldier Ifrit/Thor/Namtar]
The Prime Soldiers have 4 attacks:
They will melee you.
They will fire 5 shots at you.
They will dash toward you.
They will power up from the center and fire 3 fire shots to both sides.
* The Prime Soldiers are only invincible during dashes, so don't bother firing.
Other than that, keep shooting. They also leap far, either at you or just to
the opposite side.
IF they will try to melee you, get away.
IF they fires 5 shots at you, crouch and keep shooting back.
IF they dash toward you, use timing and roll past him when he's very close
to you.
IF they will power up from the center, go to the nearest corner and after he
fires 3 shots jump toward him. If he's facing you prepare to roll under him
when he jumps.
[The 3 Prime Soldiers]
First one will reappear at random. He will go right and hang onto a minicopter.
Follow him and fire up at him so that the shots get deflected onto those that
will appear in the line of fire (assuming you're not using Caustic Ammo).
Keep firing and the last one to appear will charge up and fire their element
balls (only 1 at each side this time) which you could jump over and continue
firing up. If you're lucky, the last one will switch with the one on the left.
But if they switch on the right side, I'd say take the damage and just continue
firing at the most damaged one (who switched to the ground) while you're
invincible.
What this means is you have atleast 10 seconds to damage one so badly they
might be out of the fight before it even starts!
Whether you took one down already or not (let's say you didn't) the pattern
they'll use is that one will charge up, fire their elements, (the ones hanging
will then toss bombs close, far, then farthest) jump over to the side they're
facing, gear up, dash to the other side, fire shots, run to the middle, jump
to the side their facing to switch, etc. It's like madness with the 3 of them
out there. Suddenly they'll decide to combine their powers at the corner and
throw a tornado at you but it'll dwindle and you can just jump over at the end.
So you see, it's better to knock one out before it gets out of hand.
WHEN one charges up and fires their element, roll toward it when it's close
to dodge and just let him jump over you.
WHEN they begin to gear up then dash (about 1 and a half seconds, I counted
1-Mississippi-2) roll toward them when they're right in front of you.
WHEN they fire at you crouch
WHEN they leap at you roll away
WHEN you get close to them they'll melee you
WHEN they gather to one side and launch a tornado stay at the other corner
and wait until it dies down then jump over it
It's possible to take on all 3 at once. From the start, stay at the very corner
and when they fire their element, roll once to dodge when it's in front of you
and let the Prime jump over you. While facing that Prime wait until he gears up
then roll toward him as he dashes pass you. At this time the bombs from the
nearest and farthest Primes won't touch you. They'll switch on occasion (maybe
after you get hit or not) and if you're under the switch roll away.
But still, it's better to knock one out as soon as possible so just do as I
mentioned earlier and take advantage of those 10 seconds.
[Metal Woof]
Metal Woof has 120,000 HP so if you're the are-we-there-yet type it might seem
like forever to beat the metal mutt. Yet there is a very easy way win: knife.
For example, I used Flesh Eater (510/420) and combined with the Kage Mod it
becomes 1275/420. 2x Kage Mod = 2040/420 (2460 including Element). First off
let's see what the Woof does:
It charges with a shield.
It reappears, fires a laser beam then disappears (repeats).
It reappears in the center and does some sort of....bloody roar. Or howl.
It reappears and runs from one side to the other in a solid projection then
disappears (repeats).
It throws a bone and fires a barrage from the corner.
What to do:
WHEN it charges with a shield, jump over and fire back at it.
WHEN it fires a laser beam, shoot then jump or just jump.
WHEN it reappears in the center to howl a chorus stay inbetween (If you're
low on health call Bluebell for some First Aid if you're out of Rations).
WHEN it runs around in a projection just jump over it.
WHEN it launches a barrage, crouch and deflect the shots.
So where lies the key to victory? When it throws you a bone. The main thing to
do is always stay near the center not only to be close when it howls but when
it fires a barrage. It's like this: counter its moves as I mentioned above, and
when it starts to charge with a shield, you'll want to be close to the center
and the corner it turns around from to charge again. But sometimes it won't
turn around and charge, it will instead stay put and launch a barrage. So you
have 2 choices: sacrifice some HP to get close and attack, or stay far and
deflect?
It's better to sacrifice the HP because not only will you deflect the puppy
rounds but you will inflict damage AT THE SAME TIME. The Woof will stay put for
approximately 7 seconds for you to unleash your rage on it. So using the
numbers earlier, 1 hit = 1695 (1 Kage) or 2460 (2 Kage). You can land atleast
10 hits with your knife within 7 seconds (assuming you weren't far) so that
means 16,950 for 1 Kage, and 24,600 for 2 Kage. Remember not to be TOO close
that it also damages you. I was able to land almost 15 hits with 2x Kage for a
whopping 36,900! Insane!
You can also knife after it howls if you're lucky enough to be behind it while
it pauses for a second. If you choose to knife from the front, you'll lose
atleast 48 HP.
In other words, shoot when you can but stay close and when it throws you a
bone, take that que and knife.
Of course this is all moot if Woof never does a barrage and you end up relying
on your most powerful weapon to slowly destroy it. I guess it really doesn't
matter lol.
There are 2 Mega Loopers this time and it's not as difficult as it looks. One
will go up then left, the other will go down and right. When they reach the
ladders they will loop around the spiky areas only. The idea is to shoot from
the top or bottom when it's clear, and as they approach you go up or down the
ladders avoiding contact from below or above them as they loop, and if you have
AP Ammo you can also shoot from the middle as they both meet.
First drop down from the right and shoot the one going up then left. When it
returns go down the ladder and avoid contact by going down a little more. The
same when you shoot at the bottom, go up then some more as it loops.
[Tiny Computer]
From the start a Tube with a Mega Mandrake will drop and electric shocks will
be fired to both sides. Sometimes the Tube will be close or far. You'll have to
fire at the Tube while jumping to avoid the shocks.
After the Tube is destroyed the computer will boot up and you have to aim for
the eyes (3 Squares) on both sides. It's possible to deflect the shots with
AP Ammo to 3 blocks at once to save time.
After a few seconds or after you destroy 1 block the screen will display its
plan of attack. Arrows pointing down means it will drop plugs from the ceiling
at that spot. If it shows arrows one after another then it's a sequence. It
varies from two inside, 2 right side, 1 left side, etc. You'll have to memorize
the sequence and stay within the white areas. If it's a sequence then you'll
have to roll to avoid getting hit. I counted "1-Mississippi-2" before the next
plug dropped.
Blocks that move left to right and/or right to left means rocket boosters will
come flying from those spots to the other side. You'll either have to jump on
these to prevent being squashed or sometimes you'll only have to crouch.
If the sequence only uses the plugs just stay on the white marks between the
plug spots.
[Dr. Neil]
Neil will transform into a fake Hulk then dash-punch you where you roll to
avoid his attack.
Neil will dash to punch you.
Neil will teleport and stomp.
Neil will jump and fire 3 fireballs.
Neil will pull a giant rock from his pants and throw it in a straight path.
To counter:
WHEN Neil dashes just roll toward him when he's in front of you.
WHEN Neil teleports to stomp get away from where he reappears.
WHEN Neil fires 3 fireballs roll towards the opposite corner.
WHEN Neil throws the giant rock, crouch (and keep shooting).
You can fire at Neil at all times except when he dashes and teleport. When
you've damaged him enough he'll lose control and morph into a...something.
[BOSS FIGHT - Round 2]
First be sure to stay at the center. Neil will float around to check the
surroundings and show off his mufflers, then he'll swoop down toward you so
roll quickly toward him then return to the center.
Neil will swoop down toward the center.
Neil will pollute you with every element.
Neil will toss 4 thorns to block your path.
Neil will drop blood across the area.
You must shoot his heart whenever it's exposed. To counter:
WHEN Neil swoops down roll toward him then return to the center (may repeat).
WHEN Neil stops at the center keep firing at his heart and when bright
flashes appear around him roll immediately toward any direction.
WHEN Neil stops at the center keep firing and when he tosses 4 thorns quickly
shoot the thorn that's closest to both of you then roll to avoid the swoop.
Quickly shoot the other thorn to avoid the next swoop and destroy the rest.
WHEN Neil stops at a corner and move towards you while dropping blood shoot
his heart. Regardless of how far you are, once his heart is nearly above you
roll toward the opposite direction he's going. If you were at the center or
close to him you can resume firing from behind.
