~ AOV01: Overview ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello, and welcome to my first guide! I am a big Vocaloid fan, so I was very
excited to learn that us Westerners were finally giving a DIVA game an
overseas release. I am a big Vocaloid fan and guide user, so why not combine
the two?
The Hatsune Miku Project DIVA series originated on PSP. Three games were
released for that system, none of which made it to the West. Project DIVA
made the jump to next-gen with the Vita game Project DIVA f. Sega then ported
the game to the PS3 as Project DIVA F. (Notice the difference in the letter.)
All the Project DIVA games are music/rhythm games starring Vocaloid singers.
Vocaloid software is a program that producers use to provide vocals to songs.
While the software itself is actually Vocaloid, companies created mascots
based on the voices they sampled/created. While there are many Vocaloids,
Crypton Future Media's Hatsune Miku is arguably the most well-known. Other
Crypton Vocaloids include her predecessors Kaito and Meiko and successors
Kagamine Rin/Len and Megurine Luka.
In the game, players try to press buttons to the on-screen cues while a music
video (PV) is playing. Players can change the Vocaloid(s) dancing and/or
dress them up, but the original vocals will always apply. Transliterated
lyrics (romaji) will also play, but if you want translations, I recommend
animelyrics.com or YouTube. Side note: If you really want to understand the
songs, I recommend not relying on just one translation, as some translations
may have been heavily adapted and/or just plain wrong. Just as English
speakers probably wouldn't trust someone who mixes up homonyms like "bare"
and "bear," there are translators who mix up words like "kami" (god) for
"kami" (hair). Plus there's a third "kami" (paper).
Anyways, I hope you find this guide useful. Let's work together to bring
Project DIVA f/F 2nd over here as well! If you find any errors or can
contribute any information, please email me at
[email protected].
You will receive credit. (Please include how you would like to be creditted
as.)
~ BBA03: Basics ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The bulk of the game involves a series of button presses to match the on-
screen prompts. An image of the button will appear in gray along with the
hands of a clock. The corresponding button in color will fly in on a rainbow
tail. You want to press the button just as the buttons overlaps, when the
clock strikes midnight.
The basic presses include Triangle, Circle, Square, and X. If you press the
corresponding direction on the D-pad, it will also count. So for each
Triangle, you can either press Triangle, Up, or both, and they will all
count.
There are also times you will need to hold the button, and not let go until
the clock strikes midnight again and another copy overlaps.
At times, you may need to press or hold the colored button along with the
corresponding direction. This is marked by a colored arrow with a W on it.
For example, a green W would mean press Triangle and Up together.
The final input command involves a star. You need to wiggle or flick the
right or left (doesn't matter) joystick when the stars overlap in F, or
swipe/scratch the touchscreen in f.
When you choose a song, you can also choose the on-screen character(s) and
dress them up however you choose.
After clearing the tutorial, you can initially choose to play one of four
songs on EASY or NORMAL difficulty levels. Clearing a stage on NORMAL will
unlock the song on HARD. Clearing a stage on HARD unlocks its EXTREME
version. Each difficulty level adds a faster pace with more button presses.
EASY versions generally have only one type of button in use, NORMAL two, HARD
and EXTREME use all. Clearing stages will also unlock other songs. Each
difficulty level for each song has a rating for difficulty out of 10 stars.
Clearing a song on either EASY or NORMAL will almost always unlock a new song.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~ BGR04: Grade ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Whenever you input a command, you will receive a rating along with points.
From worst to best, this is:
AWFUL < BAD < SAFE < GOOD < COOL
The worst two will lower your gauge, and the best two will increase it. If
you see a red "COOL" (or other rating in an off-color) you pressed the wrong
button but in the right time. The game will track how many "GOOD"s and
"COOL"s you have received in a row. SAFE or below will reset your combo.
In the lower-left hand corner, you will see a gauge. This is the Song Energy
Gauge and will rise and fall depending on how well you are doing. If this
reaches 0, the song will end immediately. The bar at the bottom, the Grade
Gauge, shows your progress. So the Song Energy Gauge tracks your immediate
score while the Grade Gauge measures your overall score.
Technical Zones are a series of commands that can range from short and easy
to hard and painful. If you complete these sections perfectly, you will
receive a huge boost to your Grade Gauge. "Technical Zone Over" means you
failed (and the counter will stop at the one you made a mistake on while
"Technical Zone Complete" means you were successful. Depending on the song
and level, you may or may not need the Technical Zones to pass the overall
stage. If one is at the beginning and you did poorly, you might as well
restart. If the zone(s) is more in the middle or end, just let it ride and
hope you can get a good combo going. EASY has one Technical Zone; the rest
have two.
During the song, you will also see "Chance Time Start." This is usually at
the end, but some are more towards the middle. The Song Energy Gauge will
change into a star. If you fill up the star during Chance Time, you will see
a better version of the song. Again, this is worth a significant amount of
your final score. Chance Time will always end with a star: silver means you
failed, gold means you passed.
At the end of the song, you will receive a rating. From worst to best, this
is:
DROPXOUT < LOUSY < STANDARD < GREAT < EXCELLENT < PERFECT
You need at least an 80% to pass a stage. GREAT requires a score of 90.
EXCELLENT is anything above a 95, and PERFECT is 100%. The Grade Gauge shows
your progress. Each | on the Grade Gauge is the mark for each rating. You can
also view a graph of your results. The characters will also comment on how
well (or poorly) you did.
Thanks to purplepolecat, here is how the Grade score breaks down:
5% for Chance Time
3% for each Technical Zone
So for NORMAL or higher, you have 89% of your Grade left, and on EASY, you
have 92. From this number, divide by the total number of notes in the song.
This is how much each note is worth. Now multiply this number by the number
of GOODs and COOLs added together. Add any Chance Time or Techincal Zone
bonuses. This is your Grade, rounded down to the nearest tenth of a percent.
For example, if this was your results screen:
Total Notes 446
Max Combo 116
COOL 265 52.8%
GOOD 154 30.7%
SAFE 17
BAD 3
AWFUL 7
Chance Time: Success 5%
Technical Bonus 1/2 3%
(89 / 446) * (265 + 154) + 5 + 3 = 91.6%, so you receive a GREAT. The
percents listed next to each is based on how much each note is worth. In the
above example, (89 / 446) * 265 = 52.8%. Notice that adding the percents
listed directly is slightly different due to rounding.
For the purposes of your Grade, only the number of COOls and GOODs matter.
SAFE, BAD, and AWFUL are worth nothing, and your combo does not matter.
Your high score is based on your combo, input type and amount, Chance Time,
and Technical Bonus. This is basically for bragging rights.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~ BDI05: Diva Points ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rather than your high score, your real focus (at least at first) is Diva
Points (DP), earned at the end of each song. DP is the currency you can use
to unlock additional features.
The amount of DP is tied to the song mode, level, and Grade. Thanks to a
thread on a Chinese Hatsune Miku cosplay site, here is the Diva Point
distribution (edited to reflect North American version and formatted for this
guide):

10 190 950 13,300 19,000 26,600 68,400
Before you begin a song, you can spend some of your DP to buy items to help
you. On the screen that appears just before you begin a song, move the cursor
to "Rhythm Game Items". Descriptions are directly from the game. Costs for
Help Items stay the same for each level, while Challenge Items go up in cost.
These are listed in EASY/NORMAL/HARD/EXTREME. Thanks to Light Buster for the
Vita versions.
Help Items:
Training Wheels: BAD/AWFUL beats count as SAFE, so you won't lose Energy,
but your grade will be "LOUSY". Costs 1,000 DP.
Combo Safeguard: Your first 30 SAFE and BAD beats will count as GOOD. Costs
3,000 DP.
Recovery: If your Song Energy hits 0, this item will restore it to 100% one
time only. Costs 1,000 DP.
Simple Rhythm: All button targets will switch to [O], [O]+hold, or ->, but
your song result will be LOUSY. Costs 1,000 DP.
Double Killer: Double-input targets will not appear. Costs 2,000 DP.
Double Killer: Double-input targets will not appear, but you can't earn
higher than a STANDARD grade. Costs 2,000 DP. (Vita Version)
Star Changer: You'll be able to hit [star] targets by pressing the L1, R1,
L2, or R2 buttons. Costs 0 DP.
Star Killer: You can press any button for a scratch target, but you won't be
able to earn higher than a STANDARD grade. (Vita Version)
Challenge Items:
Stealthy Target: Targets will appear later than NORMAL, but you'll earn 2x
the Diva Points. Costs 500 (EA) / 1,000 (N) / 2,000 (H) / 3,000 (EX) DP.
Survival: Song Energy does not recover and decreases more easily, but
you'll earn 2x the Diva Points. Costs 500 (EA) /1,000 (N) / 2,000 (H) / 4,000
DP (EX).
Mega Survival: Same as "Survival", but you begin with only 1/4 Song Energy,
and earn 3x the Diva Points. Costs 1,000 (EA) / 2,000 (N) / 4,000 (H) / 5,000
(EX) DP.
Perfectionist: GOOD and SAFE make you lose Song Energy instead of
recovering it, but you will earn 4x the Diva Points. Costs 2,000 (EA) / 3,000
(N) / 7,000 (H) / 10,000 (EX) DP.
Overall, you will want to ignore the help items. They aren't worth it. Combo
Safeguard and Recovery are the only useful ones. Between the two, I would say
Combo Safeguard. This may help you build a decent combo to help rack up the
score or protect you during difficult parts. Star Changer is also an option
if you find the stars annoying, but you can only choose one, so you'll end up
having to use the joystick to grind anyway, unless you're not playing to
Platinum this game. You will also receive a heart mark on the song list
indicating the use of a help item. User sage_ultima promoted the use of
Double Killer to tackle W inputs. The few times I tried it didn't seem to
help me as much as Combo Safeguard, but you might want to give it a whirl as
a cheaper alternative, especially on songs like Negaposi*Continues.
Strange as it may seem, I think a lot of times it is easier to use
Perfectionist than Mega Survival. With Perfectionist, you still have room for
error and can recover. You start off with the normal amount of Song Energy,
and as long as you score more COOLs than all the rest, you should be fine.
(About 65% COOLs, according to sage_ultima.) With Mega Survival, you can't
counter any mistakes.
Do the math. For example, if you choose an EASY song, a Level 3 EXCELLENT
will leave you with a profit of 17,200 DP. Using Mega Survival on a Level 3
NORMAL GREAT will leave you with a profit of 16,000, 1,200 less and plus at
least one more button to worry about! Do the math and factor in the amount of
effort it takes you to reach a high score.
Another option (although probably not the best) is to use Combo Safeguard and
pick an easy song. If you can Perfect a song like "Stay With Me" on HARD, you
can earn a profit of 25,600 DP, almost the same as using a Mega Survival on a
Level 4 NORMAL with EXCELLENT. With Combo Safeguard and an easy song, getting
a PERFECT isn't too difficult. If you don't want any heart marks indicating a
Help item, however, don't pick this option.
In short, Option A is to spend more time grinding, but choosing an easier
difficulty level while Option B is to choose a higher difficulty to rack up
the DP easier. Personally, I think "ACUTE" and "Stay With Me" are good
choices, the former on HARD being my preference.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~ BTI06: Tips ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Firstly, relax! Don't fixate. Just get in the zone and try to rely on muscle
memory. The more you think, "Don't miss this next one," the more likely you
will.
I recommend doing some calibration to find the "sweet spot" for you and your
TV. This value can be anywhere between -99 and 99. The default is 0. By
adjusting this value, you may find some of your "GOOD"s and "SAFE"s are
bumped up.
Take frequent breaks. Sometimes getting away from the screen for a while is
all that you need.
Getting closer to the TV also helps, especially on a smaller screen. Please
don't sit too close, however. Your health is important.
For me, I found that I did better with my laptop underneath my hands. This
helps me steady the controller and not jerk the controller when a big chain
is coming or when I'm trying to get in a last-second press.
Slow songs may seem extremely slow if you play it right after a fast-paced
one. Same with jumping between difficulty levels. If you get used to one
pace, you'll throw yourself off.
F seems to be the most forgiving on stars, so on areas with tons of them, you
literally can just keeping tilting it to the right and left and you will hit
most--if not all--of them, with little skill required. Just watch when the
stars slow down and spread out. When they're coming constantly, though, you
really can't go wrong with a constant barrage of tilts. For me, I usually
threw in one extra tilt since I always seemed to be short one if I counted.
It won't sound that impressive with the joystick noise repeatedly going, but
unless you're recording your gameplay, no one will know.
If there are no notes around, pressing buttons does not seem to affect your
score. So if there is a W note coming up and nothing is around, you can have
one finger already pressed on the direction, and the game will not register
it as an input until the other one is pressed. This might be easier sometimes
then tapping it once in sync.
If you are aiming for all trophies, keep track of which songs you passed
Chance Time. Skip EASY unless you are grinding a song for DP. Complete NORMAL
and HARD. If you're near the end of a song, just finish it to get a few extra
Diva Points and analyze your grade. Ignore stuff marked as "EXTRA".
Lastly, on the higher difficulties, you can find people's playthroughs of
stages on YouTube. While it might make you sad or slack-jawed that somebody
can make it look so easy, it also gives you a chance to freeze frames and
study parts that give you trouble.
The lyrics are all transliterated (i.e. in romaji), not translated. While
this doesn't help you in understanding the song, I guess they kept it to make
it easier to follow along with (and probably easier). If you know very little
or no Japanese, the main thing to remember is that all syllables--except for
one—end in a vowel. So basically find the first vowel, and it's the end of
the syllable. Ha/tsu/ne Mi/ku. Me/gu/ri/ne Lu/ka. There is an "n" that proves
to be the exception to the rule, as in the case of Ri/n and Le/n and
Te/n/ga/ku. Notice how it's not Ha/tsu/n/e, but unless there is a vowel after
"n," assume it's by itself.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Section C03: Rhythm Game
Below you will find the list of the songs along with their creator(s) and
difficulty rating. You will also find notes, tips, and my general rambling.
Anything marked as "N/A" means that it is already available at the start of
the game. When I say that certain buttons are used on NORMAL, it refers to
both those buttons and their corresponding direction on the D-pad.
I have included background on each song. I know what I refer to as "anime
Japanese," as I can get through a basic manga or anime without much
difficulty but could not carry on a real-world conversation. As such, I can
often piece together meanings, but sometimes I needed outside reference to
understand the song.
Most songs, modules, and food items will unlock even if playing EASY, but
some require NORMAL or higher. Others require HARD or multiple playthroughs.
I am currently playing through EXTREME. As I am not typically a music/rhythm
game player, I will do the best I can. For me, I am happy with just passing a
song and am not looking to get a PERFECT on all songs.
I completed the songs in listed order on NORMAL, then redid the order for
HARD, then bounced around a bit in EXTREME, starting with the easiest. You
can do it this way (which I recommend) or complete NORMAL, HARD, then EXTREME
before moving on to the next song. I'm just letting you know that the first
way is the way I did it, and so the guide reflects this both in content and
in style.
Also, even if you are playing a stage on a harder difficulty, you might want
to read the other sections. Some of the "tricks" or "gimmicks" are carried
over to the higher difficulty levels, so there may be a useful tip you might
miss if you skip directly to my HARD or EXTREME notes.

Creator(s): Otomania (Original: Finnish Folk Song)
Vocal(s): Miku
Unlock: N/A
BPM: ???
EASY: N/A
NORMAL: N/A
HARD: N/A
EXTREME: N/A
According to Wikipedia, the title is translated as "Ieva's/Eva's Polka" and
is about a young man who wants to dance with Eva and stay with her despite
her mother. I don't understand how the whole leekspin thing started though,
which led to Miku spinning a negi (spring onion).
This song serves as the tutorial. Clear it for completion's sake.

~ CCA01: Cat Food ~

Creator(s): doriko
Vocal(s): Miku
Unlock: N/A
BPM: 174
EASY: 1
NORMAL: 3
HARD: 5
EXTREME: 7.5
Love this song. Basically this song is about being torn between stand-offish
and affectionate, like a cat. Note that "NYA-O" is an onomatopoeia for the
sound a cat makes. So excited that one of doriko's other hits "Romeo to
Cinderella" (Romeo and Cinderella) is in f/F 2nd.
EASY/NORMAL: The middle section can be confusing with the rapid colors
flying. On NORMAL, circle and triangle are used.
HARD: This was my first HARD song, and I got tripped up on the ones with
multiple clock hands. If this is your first hard, be prepared to use that
square button for the first time!
EXTREME: There are two parts that get me: one is a certain star on the left
side of the screen during the second Technical Zone. The other is the notes
with three presses and a hold all on one spot. I really thought I had Chance
Time in this song, but I must have missed it by just a tiny bit. Anyways,
only got the second Technical Zone. Just try to match the beat of the song.
The parts like "yuugure Rainy" is a repeating patten with doubles on the
English words.

This song in romaji is "Himitsu Keisatsu." The title pretty much sums up the
song.
EASY/NORMAL: On NORMAL, circles and triangle are used.
HARD: Memorize the patterns. Hi/mi/tsu Ke/i/sa/tsu. Don't miss the switch
from buttons to stars on the second Technical Zone. The first Technical Zone
involves doubles, so if you can nail one or both, you should be set.
EXTREME: Hello, police? I'd like to report a murder. The victim is my hands
at the hands of "Secret Police". The second Technical Zone is stars, but I
still couldn't get it all the time. The first Technical Zone is a horrible
repeating pattern of four notes, four notes, and then two notes. This gets
progressively harder, and in Chance Time, doubles will start to appear then
dominate. Plus there are some long chains and overlapping notes just to mess
with you. I played this right after all the 8s, and it feels like jumping
from NORMAL to EXTREME. I only passed thanks to Combo Safeguard.

This is song is a good one to use to calibrate your TV since the song and
button presses start right away, plus it is not too fast so you can judge
your calibration. If you know the term "tsundere", that's pretty much the
image I get from this song.
EASY/NORMAL: Remember this song still has quite a bit left after the vocals
drop, so don't worry if your Grade Gauge looks quite short when Rin stops
singing. Xs and Os are used on NORMAL.
HARD: I managed to get Chance Time and blow both Technical Zones plus
completely dropped the ending, but I managed to squeak by. This song likes to
have several of the same button in a row, so make sure to quickly count how
many you need and not go over or under.
EXTREME: The worst parts are the two Technical Zones (especially the first)
and the very end. The first Technical Zone has 11 squares in a row then
triples of Xs. Later there are 16 triangles. The bottome line of stars in the
second Technical Zone has 11. Watch the circle of circles, and the
alternating Xs and Os on the same X and O.

This song was commissioned for Project DIVA f and is the other main theme for
the game. I would say the theme is "love is as exciting and colorful as the
weekend".
EASY/NORMAL: Lots of lights and colors that can make some sections hard to
follow. Be aware of the circle of inputs. On NORMAL, triangle and circle are
used.
HARD: Please, don't be like me and keep missing the star for Chance Time. The
Technical Zones are long and quite tricky. I missed both and squeaked by.
Watch the partially overlapping commands and the circle of commands.
Hopefully you can start the main song with a good combo if you nail the stars
at the beginning.
EXTREME: The easiest part of this song is the chorus, which is also in Chance
Time. Try to concentrate on doing well in these parts to make up for any
shortfalls. The circle of W notes during the second Technical Zone isn't bad.
Focus on the first command and just let your fingers go around the

EASY/NORMAL: You might want to keep retrying the stage until you pass the
Technical Zone right at the beginning. It's basically a free boost and will
help you if you drop the other Technical Zone or Chance Time. The NORMAL
difficulty uses triangles and circles.
HARD: Definitely keep retrying until you get the first Technical Zone. Really
no excuse not to. Otherwise just be prepared to switch between presses and
holds.
EXTREME: Look, ma, I passed an EXTREME! This was my first one, and it only
took a couple of tries. Can you believe once I got a 79.9? Sheesh. Anyways,
the first part isn't bad. The second Technical Zone has some quick presses
that match the piano part. There isn't a lot of switching between the four
main buttons; generally you'll press it two or three times before moving on
to the next one. Just don't forget the slowdown at the very end.

This song is almost all in English. Interesting fact: A composer for a
Japanese band plagarized parts of this song.
EASY/NORMAL: If you aren't familiar with the song, the copious amount of
English along with Luka's soft vocals can make it harder than it really is.
(Good song, though.) At least the background is not distracting. The first
Technical Zone seemed really long. Circles and triangles are the buttons of
choice on NORMAL.
HARD: The beginning is all triples and is repeated for Chance Time. Get these
two sections and you should be able to clear it.
EXTREME: Lots of triples and quadruples. The best advice I can give is to
turn up the volume. Otherwise just watch out for the circle of inputs.

The title is a pun. "Fireworks" in Japanese is "hanabi," which is made up of
the Chinese characters for "flower" and "fire". A song about summer love.
EASY/NORMAL: Circles and triangles are used in NORMAL. This stage is really
nothing special. (Not the song, I mean, but the gameplay itself.)
HARD: Again, nothing really remarkable about this song. Do well in the
beginning and keep it up.
EXTREME: Holy cow, I passed an EXTREME on one try. So you KNOW this has to be
an easy 8. I think I would have done better if I didn't spend the whole song
thinking, "OK, there has to be a trick coming. It HAS to be coming. Now? Now?
Now!?" There are a few quick triples, and Chance Time has all four basic
buttons with triples right in a row, but nothing serious. You can do horribly
in these section and still coast through this stage. As long as you can do
taps, holds, and switch between them, you'll be fine. I'm sure this will be a
good song to farm DP on for more advanced and riskier players.

The ending is hilarious. The song is about their goal of finding a summer
love, but then the last singing line is about them giving up and the two of
them being a couple. Miku then says something like, "That's not gonna happen,
right?" and Rin says, "Yeah..."
EASY/NORMAL: Even if you have never heard the song before, you'll probably
still have a feel for it, since I'm sure you've probably heard dozens of teen
and/or beach pop songs. (Not that it's a bad song.) Circle and triangle are
used in NORMAL.
HARD: Don't miscount the large chains. The first Technical Zone involves
stars while the second one is much longer.
EXTREME: Wow. Maybe there are only two types of players for this song: the
kind that make the beginning look easy and those of us who pray their Song
Energy Gauges survive. There are 13 partially overlappping circles in the
beginning. After that the stage has a lot of pairs and triples coming one
right after another. The first Technical Zone is stars. Chance Time is
merciful, but that signals the difficulty increase in the song. You really
need to do well on the easy parts and try to minimize any chains you blow so
that your Song Energy Gauge doesn't hit zero. Yeah, I have a feeling all the
8.5 and aboves will be ones I use Combo Safeguard to pull through.

"ACUTE" is about a dark love triangle. I didn't really care for this PV. I'm
hoping for Cantarella~grace edition~ in F 2nd. If you're not a fan of Kaito's
voice, that song will make you reconsider. UPDATE: Yay, confirmed for f/F
2nd!
EASY/NORMAL: If you know the original song, the DIVA F version starts with
the instrumental just before Kaito's first solo, not the group singing. That
threw me off the first time I played. Otherwise, don't try to rush it. Xs and
Os on NORMAL. (Hilarious and ironic considering the theme.)
HARD: The majority of the song is not hard at all. Listen to the song a few
times if you're having trouble since it matches up. The song really only
picks up by the second Technical Zone, but you shouldn't need it to pass. A
good choice to start off HARD with.
EXTREME: Hey, look, a free Technical Zone with stars right at the beginning.
I would have passed this the first time if my brain hadn't decided to
suddenly turn off halfway through Chance Time. I actually got a "GREAT" the
second time. The main thing is to know there are notes overlapping which you
can "feel" if you know the song. If you can match this to the music, you
should be okay. For reference, there are 7 stars at the bottom during the
first Technical Zone, followed by 5 more. There are 10 circles in a row at
the start of the second Technical Zone, followed by 7 more. The top line of
stars has 11, then 9, then 10.

This song is more probably more well-known as "Torinoko City." I always

EASY/NORMAL: Another song where you don't want to rush. It uses Xs and Os on
NORMAL.
HARD: I barely squeaked by due to the Technical Zone with all the W notes at
the very end. If you're just going straight down the list on HARD, then this
definitely feels like a step up from the others.
EXTREME: The main thing to remember is that, while in most EXTREME songs,
notes one right after another is almost frantic, in this song, you actually
have a little time. If you keep pressing buttons in a row, you're likely to
get ahead of the song. Watch the clock hands, match the music, and
concentrate on only doing quick taps on the partially overlapping triplets.

One way to title this song in romaji is "Douiu koto nano!?" but the video
also romanizes it as "Do You Kotonano". This isn't my favorite song by any
means, but it is catchy and hard to get out of your head. It's about trying
to understand like or love.
EASY/NORMAL: This is another one of those stages with lots of bright colors
and things flying around. Bleh. It uses triangles and circles on NORMAL.
HARD: Don't go on until you pass the Technical Zone at the beginning. I
actually found Chance Time to be relatively easy do to all the "Douiu koto
nano"s. I didn't do so well on the rest of it, but these two sections got me
through.
EXTREME: Still a long (but free) Technical Zone at the beginning, and Chance
Time is still easy as long as you remember that the "dou iu" is W notes and
"ko/to na/no" is four overlapping notes. Otherwise, just try to minimize the
damage on the large chains of eight with partially overlapping notes.

something like, "I don't really care about anything" but Vocaloid wiki says
Miku is a nympho in this song? I don't really care for it anyway.
EASY/NORMAL: The middle can be a little distracting. It's a 4, but it feels
like closer to a 5 than a 3. Probably doesn't help it comes right at "Stay
With Me," which feels really easy. On NORMAL, triangles and circles are used.
HARD: Again, this song feels harder than its rating. Maybe I just am not a
big fan of the song.
EXTREME: OK, I lied. I managed to get through this 8.5 without a Help.
Seriously feels like a world of difference compared to "Secret Police" and
"Summer Idol". The second Technical Zone should be child's play by now.
Chance Time isn't too bad if you can keep up with the chain notes going from

Japenese often shortens words of foreign origin, so the direct romanization
would be "Remokon". As you can pick up from the PV, this song is about being
controlled by a remote.
EASY/NORMAL: The first 5 on NORMAL, but I think it's easier than "Hm? Ah,
Yes". Watch the repeating stars at the beginning. Lots of presses in a row,
but the pattern repeats frequently. Xs and circles on NORMAL.
HARD: Man, the first time I got 79.5, and the second was 80 point something.
Watch for a couple of tricks where they switch the order of the presses when
they're singing about the code. Get the Technical Zone at the beginning.
EXTREME: If you remember the tricks from HARD, you should be fine. The first
Technical Zone is super easy by this point. Just count how many of each
button you're supposed to press before moving on to the next button, and as
long as you usually press the right number, you should be fine. Don't forget

HARD: The Technical Zones are not bad at all. Get at least one and Chance
Time (which is also straightforward) and you should be all set.
EXTREME: I guess this song wanted revenge. Ironically, the real enemy was the
Song Energy Gauge, as I would just go on bad streaks. The major gimmick in
this song is quick chains. It's best to count in fives. The first Technical
Zone is easy with stars. The second is a copy up to a point then adds in
several W notes. Chance Time is stupidly simple compared to everything else.

not fall for the fake end with the title card. It continues on for a little
while longer. Xs and Os for NORMAL.
HARD: Darn it, I fell for the fake end again! I need to take my own advice.
Anyways, I missed both Technical Zones but made Chance Time. Nail the doubles
and triples and you should be fine.
EXTREME: You're really going to have to work for the two Technical Zones,
which are quite long. The second one is fairly easy, as it is all pairs of
same direction W notes ending with a circle. As for the first one, it's right
at the beginning, so if you can swing it, keep retrying until you pass. Watch

HARD: Man, it says it's only a 5, but I was making it look much harder. I

but be prepared for inputs right afterwards. I kept doing combinations like
triangle+left. Bad fingers! Bad! It's because the song is so catchy! Yeah,
that's it. It's the song's fault, not mine. :)
EXTREME: Was Chance Time always this short? It sure feels short. The first
Technical Zone isn't too bad with the alternating W notes. The second
Technical Zone is a mess of stars: 3 beginning, 6 going down, then 9 going
left. Next is a zig-zag of four stars in each zig or zag for a total of 16

HARD: After the complete fail that was me playing "Freely Tomorrow," I came

prepared for constant W notes starting in Chance Time.
EXTREME: Whoo-hoo! Another EXTREME I passed in one try. I got one Technical
Zone and Chance Time, but my Song Energy Gauge really dropped during the
second Technical Zone. In the first one, just let your fingers travel around

u/tsu/ru ki/mi no yu/bi/sa/ki ga (with the last part of the lyric changing
depending where in the song you are) is the part you want to master.

card game. If you've ever seen (or heard of) hanafuda cards, those are the
cards used in hachihachi. (Thank you, Internet.) So they're battling in a
card game and for love.
EASY/NORMAL: Here's another one where you can get distracted by the colors.
The second Technical Zone is quite long. Be prepared for W notes. Otherwise,
just follow the beat of the song. Xs and Os on NORMAL.
HARD: This may seem like a big jump in difficulty, but just do your best to
match the song. At least one star of difficulty is from distracting
background, which may cause you to miss some notes until you've played it a
couple a times. Just let your fingers do the thinking and don't overanalyze
your every move.
EXTREME: I still find the background distracting but at least the buttons
generally match the music. There are a lot of stars, but if you are weak at
the circle of inputs in the second Technical Zone and the ending, they may
not be enough to counter those areas. The first Technical Zone is stars, and

Don't take the PV as the literal meaning of the song. It's about enjoying
yourself even when others hesitate to, not a battle on buses. I like the
song, but there are also some excellent covers out there as well (including
English ones).
EASY/NORMAL: This one is on the difficult side. The background can also be
distracting. Listen to the song to get the best results and don't get too
panicky when the tempo speeds up. The second Technical Zone involves stars,
unlike the more difficult first one. Circles and triangles on NORMAL.
HARD: I think the Technical Zones are reversed on this one as compared to
NORMAL, so you can restart easily if you blow the first one. Otherwise, I
think it's just a matter of overcoming the background and the couple of notes
in circle. I would rank it slightly before "Kagamine HachiHachi Flower
Fight."
EXTREME: I knew there was going to be trouble when there was an easy
Technical Zone at the start. Be wary of the first circle of inputs that is 9
circles, 9 triangles, 3 squares, 3 Xs, and then 5 circles. The second
Technical Zone takes it up a level: 15 circles, 15 triangles, 5 squares, 5
Xs, and 5 circles. Shortly after that is 11 squares and 11 circles. After
that, the only other gimmick to watch out for is a triangle with multiple
clock hands during Chance Time. The best advice is to tap both the listed
button and its corresponding one on the D-pad. Took me quite a while to pass.

Here's a title I've read people complain about. Well, there are several ways
to write this title, but the most popular seems to be "Netoge Haijin
Sprechchor" (or "Net/Online Game Addicts Sprechchor"). I guess the translator
thought nobody would know what "Sprechchor" is anyway. I figured it was
German but thought maybe it meant "splendor". It's actually German for
"choir" or "chorus". (Thanks, Internet. Seriously, you're awesome.)
EASY/NORMAL: Not too bad. The song ends with a long Technical Zone, so don't
worry if you feel like you're going to fall short when the stage end
approaches. Uses triangles and circles on NORMAL.
HARD: Again, ignore the background with all the speech bubbles.
EXTREME: Yuck. I think the hardest things about this stage is the bonus
chances. Chance Time is a mess of quick presses and overlapping buttons. For
instance, there are 15 circles in a row at the bottom of the screen followed
by 3 more and then 8 triangles then 5 W notes. Another mess of squares has 11
then 8 more. The first Technical Zone is the easiest of the bunch, but, of
course, one safe and you have lost out on 3.0 extra points. The first segment
of the song is fairly straightforward as long as you are matching the music,
but this pattern gets significantly more complicated, especially during the
second Technical Zone. There are only a few stars, and right after regular
inputs. Basically, try to do awesome in the beginning to make up for the

longing for the past (nostalgia) while also analyzing its importance (i.e.
using logic).
EASY/NORMAL: Another breath of fresh air. It can seem slow after a song like
"World's End Dance Hall." The only really major note of is that the Technical
Zones are on the longer side. Also remember it's "No/sta/lo/gic" not
"No/stal/gic." Xs and circles on NORMAL.
HARD: Still just about the same as before.
EXTREME: You have to work for the first Technical Zone, as the first line of
stars make no sense to me to match up with the music, and there is a O+Left
at the very end. The second is a pain, alternating between stars and inputs.
The last part of Chance Time can be confusing, but just remember to alternate
between X and O and triangle and square. Otherwise, this song uses slightly
overlapping buttons as its other main trick.

HARD: The first time I got completely lost. I passed Chance Time and the
second Technical Zone and still came just a bit short. Get out of the way,
cats! You're blocking the buttons! Geez.
EXTREME: Ignore the cats, don't overhold the short holds, and watch the tempo
changes. Otherwise, the chains are overly long, and there are a lot of pairs.
Oh, and don't blow the very first note of the first Technical Zone like I
did. The second is all stars. I haven't passed this one yet, even with Combo
Safeguard. It's the cats, I swear!

Another song that is intentionally vague. I think it's about trying to
determine what is happiness, although others think it's about suicide.
EASY/NORMAL: Don't blow the Technical Zone at the beginning. You're probably
going to need it. Watch for the notes appearing in square and rectangular
patterns. This song uses triangles and circles on NORMAL.
HARD: The long chains involve six notes, and the super long chains in Chance
Time are eight notes long. I kept shouting quickly "123456" on those parts in
order to stay on beat. Also beware of the tricky floating wavy W.
EXTREME: Blech, another one I can't pass. It has a lot in common with HARD,
only more exhausting. The box of notes series will start off in pairs, then
go to doubles, go to triples, then a mixture. Just before Chance Time, there
are three notes (square, triangle, and circle) with 4 clock hands. You also
really need to count the chains, as they appear in all sizes. (I believe 9 of
one kind in a row is the max, though.)

A story about working together despite the hardships, as Miku is the voice
for someone else's words.
EASY/NORMAL: This is the opening song, so if you're having difficulty, play
the opening movie a few times. Usually I want to rush songs, and this is one
of those songs where I felt like the opposite: the notes seemed much faster
than the song. It uses circles and triangles on NORMAL.
HARD: It feels much easier than some of the other hard songs. Just don't miss
the Chance Time star at the very end.
EXTREME: There's nothing in particular that really stands out. The second
Technical Zone is short but tries to trick you. As long as you can handle (or
counter) the quick taps, you should be fine. Just remember there's nothing
after Chance Time to help you boost your score.

I wonder if several different translators tackled song titles and were given
free rein to adapt titles. That would explain why some were romanized, some
were translated, and others were localized. "Tengaku" equals "Heaven's
Music". I think it's like, "I don't know why I'm here, but I swear with this
song to the heavens that I'll overcome this."
EASY/NORMAL: Hopefully by now you are starting to grasp the faster inputs. If
not, hopefully the abundance of long presses will make up for any shortfalls.
This song uses Xs and Os on NORMAL.
HARD: Just a series of long presses and short presses. You really shouldn't
have any major problems.
EXTREME: After playing a few slower songs, this one put me back in the "tap
quickly" mode. I think the worst part is at the beginning, right after the
Technical Zone. It switches quickly between taps, presses, and W notes, and I
just could not keep up with the switches. My Song Energy Guage always dropped
low here. The rest of the song is similar, but there are more spaces between
notes and times to help boost your Song Energy Gauge back up. So if you can
handle the beginning, you just need to keep that pressure up.

In romaji, the title is "Kami Kyoku," with the more common English title
being "Divine Comedy" despite that not being the literal translation.
"Believe in something, and you will be saved" is the theme.
EASY/NORMAL: Really the only part you have to worry about is Chance Time,
where it suddenly decides to pick up the pace and include W notes. Otherwise,
the rest of the song isn't bad at all with some easy Technical Zones. On
NORMAL, Xs and Os are used.
HARD: I imagine this will be a good song for farming DP, as it is a 6, but an
easy 6.
EXTREME: I cleared it in one try. I must be having a good day. Or maybe it's
because I've played several songs in a row with a free Technical Zone at the
beginning. Even if you blow the second Technical Zone at the very end, you
should still recover and get a nice bonus. The worst part I think is Chance
Time with rapid button changes. Otherwise, keep up with the short and medium
chains and you should be okay.

There is an anime called "Black Rock Shooter" which was based on an
illustration. Before that, though, that image was used as the basis for this
song.
EASY/NORMAL: Another song I've heard so many times that I thought I would do
well. The game throws in a slow section at the beginning and just before
Chance Time. Also watch the stars in a zig-zag pattern during Technical Zone.
This song uses triangles and circles on NORMAL.
HARD: Watch out for a couple of stars during the Technical Zone with double
clock hands.
EXTREME: Build up your combo at the very beginning. By now, you should be
prepeared for the tempo changes in this song. Otherwise, it doesn't feel too
different from HARD.

In case you missed it, "nega" is short for "negative" and "posi" is short for
"positive". I can read the lyrics since it's in basic Japanese, but I don't
really understand the meaning. Is it a metaphor about spending too much time
in a fun place (like a video game world) can be a bad thing?
EASY/NORMAL: Here's where it feels like it's kicking up a notch. This was the
first song I scored a DROPXOUT on. Try not to miss the switch to the second
Technical Zone. Chance Time can also be a pain. The hardest of the non-extra
songs on NORMAL in my opinion. This song uses triangles and circles on
NORMAL.
HARD: Wow. This song is deserving of every single star of difficulty. I had
to redo this song sooooo many times and only managed to squeak by with a
80.5. It's best to view this song as a series of doubles and triples. What I
think I was doing wrong was that the doubles and triples need to be quick
taps instead of pressing buttons. To borrow an expression, you need to be
light on your fingers. If you can nail the second Technical Zone and all the
stars that follow it, you should have a 70 combo. Hopefully you can continue
it for a few more notes.
EXTREME: The beginning starts off as a slightly more difficult version of
HARD, then it just continues (heh) to warp into insanity. Make sure you're
counting the chains, but the most common I think is 7, but 6 is also very
common. As far as how the notes appear, again, you probably remember from
HARD. Again, try to nail all the stars during and after the second Technical
Zone, but it's more difficult this time around. Watch for the walls of double
notes, and if you have managed to pull that far through, you should be able
to finish off Chance Time. I have not passed this one yet.

You must keep making songs for Miku. You can't escape for the rest of your
life!
EASY/NORMAL: Chance Time felt really short in this song, so try concentrate
on doing well in this section. Otherwise, this song isn't nearly as sadistic
as the title is or even the previous song. Hopefully you can get a decent
size combo before the title card and build it up with more stars right
afterward. Circles and triangles are used on NORMAL.
HARD: I'm sure this is a pain to perfect, but just to pass isn't too bad.
Nail the beginning for a good combo star (eight triangles), and use the stars
to continue it. Watch for the 6 overlapping buttons when she's eating and the
10 chain of squares shortly afterwards. Chance Time (and the stage) ends with
five squares, eight circles, and the Chance Time star. If you nail at least
one out of the two Technical Zones or Chance Time, you should be fine.
EXTREME: Ah, now this really is Sadistic. Surprisingly, I've actually gotten
through to the end, which is more than I can say about some songs. I guess
because it's relatively short. I don't know, I think working at Miku's
factory might be better than playing this song. The song opens with a chain
of 15 partially overlapping triangles after having to alternate between
circle and square 8 times. Ironically, when she's eating, the clock hands
have been downgraded to 5 times and only a 9 chain after that. The 5 clock
hands appear again during Chance Time. The W notes go right, left, left,
right, right, left. Also don't be alarmed when the square, triangle, circle,
x pattern picks up. There is an unusual chain of 13 in Chance Time. The stage
ends with 16 circles.

"Yume no Tsuzuki" would be the common way to romanize the title, and
something like, "The Continuation of the Dream" or "The Dream Goes On" would
be another way of translating it. It's about how trust was put in the
singer(s), so the feeling will be returned.
EASY/NORMAL: Despite being the "last" song, it doesn't feel like a Boss
encounter. Just a nice song to end the main game with. Circles and Xs on
NORMAL.
HARD: A good chunk of the song is doubles or triples. Just make sure you are
prepared in the first Technical Zone to switch between stars and buttons and
the slightly altered three notes in Chance Time. Otherwise, just don't forget
the easy Technical Zone at the very end.
EXTREME: Not too different from HARD. Just be prepared to alter the main
pattern a little more. Still an easy Chance Time at the end.

This is the first bonus (not available in the Japanese Vita version) song of
the Rhythm Game. This song was featured in a Google Chrome ad in Japan.
Create your own space and share it with the world.
EASY/NORMAL: There are a couple of times of where the same button has
multiple clock hands (i.e. you must hit it several times before moving on to
the next one) so make sure not to skip out on them! Despite being available
at the beginning, I would start off with some of the main songs before this
one. This uses circles and triangles on NORMAL.
HARD: Strangely relatively easier on HARD. As with other songs, watch for
chains of six and eight.
EXTREME: I actually did pretty good on this song. Try to start building a
combo with the opening stars (which is, unfortunately, not a Technical Zone)
and keep it up with the easy notes that follow. Hopefully you'll have gotten
to around 100 with your combo before the song picks up. The first Technical
Zone involves several notes in a circle and some long presses. One line at
the top of the screen in Chance Time is OX[]XOX tri tri while the bottom is
OX[]XOX OO. I blew it since I couldn't keep up when playing, but when I went
back to check, I realized it was much more straightforward than I thought it
was.

No, this song is not about a teddy bear from Tokyo. I always thought it was
about suicide (well, more of an attention-grabbing suicide) and then deciding
to continue living and change herself instead. Most others seem to take it as
running away. Either way, the "teddy bear" is a metaphor for creating a new
identity (well, actually sewing and repairing).
EASY/NORMAL: Notes can sometimes blend in with the black-and-white Japanese
text. This song isn't too bad as long as you're not like me and keep missing
Chance Time by one or two presses. Also be ready as soon as you begin this
song. This song uses Os and Xs on NORMAL.
HARD: Nothing really to note. Just don't forget to not fall for the fake end.
EXTREME: Unlike some other songs, this definitely feels like a significant
step up from HARD. I kept blowing Chance Time by the reversing the last few
button presses, and the first Technical Zone was no where close. I did build
a large chain mostly because of the chorus and the stars that follow that
helped me pull through. Start building your chain at the opening of the song
and it should run for a while.

The romaji title would be something like "Yumekui Shirokuro Baku," with many
different ways to translate the title, such as, "The White and Black Dream-
Eating Monster" or even something like "Shirokuro Baku, the Dream Eater."
"Baku" is a type of dream-eating Japanese spirit. The dream-eater in this
song will take away all of a girl's nightmare, but he will take something
else as well. Her dreams? Her vision? Who knows.
EASY/NORMAL: By the time you get this, you will probably have tackled harder
songs. Even its preceding song is harder. This is one of the few songs I
didn't recognize at all. I wonder why I've missed out on this song before.
Anyways, circles and Xs on NORMAL.
HARD: Was it just me, or did it seem like a lot of notes were appearing
where, in the background, the bright window lights were. I don't remember it
seeming so bright the first time around. Otherwise, pretty straightforward.
EXTREME: Heh, 80.0 exactly. Thank goodness for all those stars at the very
end. There are a lot of stars, and especially in the second Technical Zone,
make sure you are just going full-throttle with the joystick for easy points.
Otherwise, be prepared for pairs of partially overlapping notes.

Another stage with bright colors. At first, I read it as "Sweet's Beast," a
Kaito song I really like. Not a bad song, but kind of disappointing. This
song is about a mischievous girl.
EASY/NORMAL: Don't rush the very beginning. Circles and Xs on NORMAL.
HARD: There's also a part in Chance Time I kept missing, as it's right down
in the lower left hand corner with the bright lights in the background.
EXTREME: Lots of overlapping buttons? Check. Lots of W notes? Check. Lots of
switching between notes? Check. Bright lights when the difficulty picks up?
Check. Lots of stars? Check. Combo Safeguard was totally worth it, although
it was used up right away do to the barrage of quick presses at the very
beginning. Again, this is going to be one of those "either you're awesome or
you're not" type of songs. Make sure to get those stars, especially during
the first Technical Zone. Free stars are also at the beginning and end of the
stage. Also don't blow it on the parts where notes are spaced out more.

If you ask me which song I like to play least, it's this one. It's basically
all about Miku and Luka obsessing over Rin. Things they want to do include
hugging her, putting her in cat ears, getting texts saying "I love you", and
seeing her in a maid cafe. There is a parody called "Len-kun Now!" which is
even more stalkerish.
EASY/NORMAL: This can be a very hard stage. It's one of those fast-paced
backgrounds with lots of colors. Miku and Luka really don't sing much, as
most of the "song" is talking about their "love" for Rin. It's cute but not
really rhythm-y. So you actually want the two of them to be quiet so you can
hear the actual music to match the beat. Godspeed to those of you going to
play on EXTREME... If you're playing NORMAL, expect circles and Xs.
HARD: Twice I scored a 79. Still took less time than I thought. The key parts
are the "Rin-chan Now!" parts and the repeating pattern that goes "dun dun
dadun dun dadun dun dun". That takes up the majority of the song. Beware of
the 4 stars and in the second half where you suddenlly have four clock hands
on one icon. (I was doing six. That's what I get for just assuming and
getting myself in a panic.)
EXTREME: Another one I have yet to defeat. The overall idea is the same as
HARD, but the pattern will mix up more throughout the song. The first
Technical Zone is all stars, but the second is much more cruel with a mixture
of chains and W notes. Beware of a series of stars that end with W note just
before the second Technical Zone. The main pattern will introduce notes with
double clock hands. Chance Time is the "Rin-chan now" pattern, generally with
pairs of W notes in the same direction.

The title in English is something like "Thousand Cherry Trees" or "One
Thousand Cherry Blossoms" (depending on the translator). I didn't understand
much of this song without translations, but it seems to be about the
Westernization of Japan in the late 1800s. Another thing to consider is that
old legends say that cherry blossoms get their pink color from the blood of
dead bodies buried under the trees.
EASY/NORMAL: I believe this is the only song on NORMAL that involves three
different types of buttons (circles, Xs, and triangles). You will need to
play this song 10 times on any difficulty to get additional modules.
HARD: This doesn't feel hard so much as physically exhausting. Lots of quick
notes. On the bright side, it matches the music almost perfectly, so go
listen to it a few times if you haven't before.
EXTREME: It's everything HARD is, only more. I received so many 79s on
this stage, but I finally got that last boost. I used Combo Safeguard. For
some reason, although I knew in Chance Time and the end the notes travel
around the pad clockwise and counterclockwise, I kept screwing up.

Section D04: Shop
If you go to the "Shop" option in the main menu, you can choose how you want
to spend your Diva Points (DP). You can own up to one of each costume, seven
of room items, and 99 food/shelf/wall items. Areas you haven't unlocked one
item for will show as "sold out."
Most modules will unlock on EASY, although some require NORMAL or better. All
Room items require NORMAL or better. All gift items will unlock on EASY.
There are also some items that require you using each character 10 times. I
used LiNne's Project DIVA f page and Project DIVA wiki to double/triple
check, so a shoutout to those sites.
"Angel Wings" and "Halo" will definitely unlock by 100 clears or 1 song on
EXTREME (thanks, Curtis Lyon) along with the Append modules.
I have replayed the game, and all of these should be correct. However, there
may be additional, hidden unlock requirements for items besides the ones
listed below. If you know of any of these, let me know.
Again, if you are going for Platinum, anything marked as "EXTRA" is not
required. I do not know if these EXTRA items will natively be in the
Western Vita version, as they were not in the Japanese version.

Section E05: Other Modes
Besides the Rhythm Game, there are also three other major features: Edit
Mode, Studio Mode, and Diva Room.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~ EED01: Edit Mode ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is where you can create custom stages. You can either use any of the
songs included in the game or upload your own mp3. Then you can create your
own stage, everything from what the music video is to the placement of the
input commands.
To get the trophy, just select some music, chose any background, and put in
one note. If you go to the Network option on the Home menu, you can choose to
upload it. Do the world a favor and if it's just for the trophy, please take
it down right after the trophy unlocks. One I downloaded, for instance, would
not end; it just kept playing on and on. And if it's a real piece, do not
forget to give title the stage with the song title.
You can choose to download someone's elses data, which will be available in
the "Edit play" option on the Play menu. You will need a copy of the mp3 if
it's a song not available on Project DIVA f/F. Make sure to favorite one (by
pressing triangle) and play it for a trophy. It doesn't matter whether you
pass the stage or not.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~ EST02: Studio Mode ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are four songs only available in this section. None of these are
playable in the rhythm game. There are 10 camera modes that can be switched
between with L1/R1 with the joysticks to zoom. The X button will turn lyrics
on/off.
Unlike most other unlock requirements, Studio Mode songs seem to require
different songs to unlock. So you can't replay "Weekender Girl" five times to
unlock "Weekender Girl (Live Mode)". You must clear five differently titled
stages.
"The World Is Mine" by ryo
Unlock: N/A
"Miracle Paint" by Oster project

"I'll Miku-Miku You (For Reals)" by ika-mo
Unlock: Clear 20 different songs

These are "live" versions of songs in the main game you can watch by moving
the camera around.

Unlock: Clear 5 different songs
"Odds & Ends (Live Mode)"
Unlock: Clear 15 different songs
"Time Machine (Live Mode)"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~ EDI03: Diva Room ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
**** EIN01: Introduction ****
Here you can interact with the various Vocaloids and decorate the room. You
can unlock items with your Diva Points. While Miku's Diva Room is available
from the start, the rest are locked until you clear their introductory song.
Even if you change performers in an earlier song, the rooms will not be
available.
Rin: "Melancholic"
Len: "Fire Flower"
Luka: "DYE"
Kaito: "ACUTE"
Meiko: "Stay With Me"
You can remodel the room by buying items with DP. Certain decorative items
also unlock events which you can view by opening the menu in the Diva Room
and selecting "Item Events." Gadgets can also be used along with giving
gifts. Communication Mode can also be activated with the X button, and it
allows you to touch the Vocaloids.
The goal of the Diva Room is to raise Affinity to level 6 and to view all
events. (Some are quite hilarious.) See Section EEV03 for more information.
Most can be activated with any Vocaloid.
**** EAF02: Affinity ****
The maximum level of Affinity is level 6. Each level is made up of 10
points. You can raise their Affinity by interacting with them or buying
their love with gifts. Each level will unlock a new item to purchase. There
will be times when it feels like you keep giving gift and the gauge does not
seem to increase; other times it increase just with a pat on the head. Just
keep bribing and petting them. The middle sections seem to take longer than
the beginning and end sections.
While all gifts will increase Affinity, the crew has their own likes and
dislikes. When you give them a gift, hearts mean they love it, flowers mean
they like it, and sweatdrops mean they dislike it. While these are listed
below, a more visual chart is available on Project DIVA wiki.
Basically, just rub their hair or face gently by holding the x button and
wiggling the left joystick. For Miku, Kaito, and Luka, stop just after their
eye closes. For Rin, Len, and Meiko, stop when one eye opens. If you mess
with them the wrong way, Affinity will drop.
Pet them three times and they will usually ask to play a game of Rock-Paper-
Scissors (janken). Then there is a round of Look This Way (acchi muite hoi).
If the winner of the previous round picks the same direction as the loser,
they get a point. Anything else is a draw. First to three points win. Beating
one character 3-0 will get you a trophy.
Below, you will find each Vocaloid's name with their loves and dislikes. The
first line is their food choices and the second is the gift items. Giving
them their likes will give a bigger boost in Affinity. If you give them
something they don't like, their Affinity will not go down, but it will not
rise much. Don't waste your DP. Anything not listed is a "like".
Remember that you can access the shops in the Diva Room (under "Gifts" and
"Remodel"). Don't stock up too much at one time; buy only what you need and
go back later if necessary.
If you want all events, you will need a lot of Calligraphy Paper and
Sketchbook as they have several random events tied to them. Everybody likes
these.

**** EEV03: Events ****
You need to place items in the Diva Rooms by choosing "Remodel" and then
selecting them in "Item Events". Unless specified, any Vocaloid will activate
the event. The portraits, calligraphy, and fortunes are all random, so just
keep redoing them for all events. (For me, Kaito kept hogging the portraits.)
Use the Event Collection to check which calligraphy events you got (unless,
of course, you can read a little Japanese).

~ ETI02: Title List ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These are copied directly from the game. The game misspells the Rin and Len's
last name on Titles number 28 and 30, so I have written it correctly here.
(Thanks, sage_ultima.)
If they are marked with a *, I am translating (adapating) from the Japanese
site Hatsune Miku –Project Diva- Sougou wiki and have yet to confirm their
name and unlock requirements in the North American version. If you have the
official name and game description for any of these marked with *, please
contact me. Some of these (the ones involving EXTRA items) are unavailable
in f, so there are only 98 Titles.
Thanks to sage_ultima for providing many titles.
Also, I believe the Clear 50/100 songs using each character titles must use
their original, default module. However, sage_ultima reports unlocking it
without using the original modules. I would think it would unlock on any
(which is what I assumed in the first place), but when I switched to Rin
Append, I played like 10 times when I was positive I should have unlocked Rin
Fan. When I switched back to default, sure enough, exactly the same number of
plays later, it unlocked. I wonder if it has something to do with the Append
modules counting separately?
If the Title says "Clear," you actually need to pass the corresponding number.
If it just sasys "Play," DROPxOUTs seem to count. (Again, thanks,
sage_ultima.)
~ GFA02: FAQ ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
--> I have a tip or information! Can I contact you?
--> I have a question! Can I contact you?
--> I have a comment! Can I contact you?
Absolutely! Please email me at
[email protected] and use a subject
line like "Project DIVA F guide" or something so I don't miss it. You will
receive credit for anything I may use.
--> Is this game hard or easy?
--> This game is easy! Is there any more challenge to it?
--> This game is hard! How can I beat everything?
Like any game, there are bound to be a mix of reactions. Would I say this is
easy? No. Is it the most difficult rhythm game I have ever played? No. I do
like how they only required NORMAL and HARD for Platinum instead of forcing
everybody to complete EXTREME, a task near impossible for many. So if you can
handle the higher levels, go for it. If you can't, read my tips, watch on
YouTube, and practice. If you don't mind a low average or having a heart mark
indicating you need help, use Combo Safeguard. Thirty presses go a long way.
--> What is "dual wielding"?
--> How do I clear the really fast parts?
"Dual wielding" is basically alternating between your left and right hands.
Remember that for X inputs, for instance, you can press X OR Down to receive
credit. So if you have a chain of Xs and frantically tap both X and Down, the
hope is that the game will register one or the other as a good press and give
you credit for it.
--> Do I have to all clear songs on EXTREME to Platinum this game?
No. There is a common belief that you need one EXTREME, but I disagree. All
these items will unlock with one EXTREME OR 100 clears. In fact, I was
disappointed when I cleared "Time Machine" on EXTREME, as I received nothing.
You will need to clear all on HARD, though. If you want all customization
items, you will need to clear all EXTREMEs, but this is NOT necessary to
get the Platinum trophy.
--> Are all of these unlocks right?
As of 1.0, Modules, Room Items, and Miscellaneous should all be correct.
Earlier versions I thought were tied to songs (espeically Sadistic.Music
Factory on HARD) were actually ones unlocked by a number of song clears. I
took great care in counting the second time around, so I am fairly confident
they are all correct.
The Japanese Project Diva wiki does say that Mikudayo (Mini) unlocks on "Tell
Your World" NORMAL, Chef's Hat on 70 clears, and Gag Goggles on 90 clears. I
think these were changed, though. I know the cost for the regular posters
unlocked on Level 3 friendship went down from 2,000 DP according to the wiki
to 1,500, so I do have reason to believe there are changes in the North
American version. (I didn't check to see if other DP costs were changed.)
As for Titles, until I unlock them myself, find a perfected save file
somewhere, or someone else copies (or screenshots) these, I am relying on the
Japanese version. If you notice a discrepancy in the guide between F and f,
please let me know.
--> I didn't get [insert item or trophy] but I'm positive I should!
Try exiting from whatever screen you're on to the Home menu. Most of the time
that takes care of the problem, forcing the game to recheck. Otherwise, you
probably missed something. Film Buff is well-known for this hiccup.
--> What is the best song to grind?
What you're good at. Seriously. Obviously, advance players will have their
choice of songs, but if you anything like me, you'll be happy with getting 20
to 30,000 DP a song with Mega Survival or Perfectionist. Overall, I think
Kaito and Meiko songs are the easiest. ACUTE also has room for three
vocalists, allowing you to get the 50/100 clears for each character title
fairly easy. Not that this is necessary to Platinum.
Jonathan R. Johnson emailed me recommending "World's End Umbrella" on Hard
with Perfectionist, getting 61,000 DP for an EXCELLENT.
--> I downloaded an Edit Play, but where's the music?
Due to copyright issues, no mp3s are transferred with Edit Play stages. If
you want the music, you must find your own copy.
--> Is f worth it if I already bought F?
If you a) want to support Miku, Crypton Media, Sega, and the DIVA games, b)
want to play on a smaller screen, or c) want to play on the go, then yes, by
all means, pick it up. Otherwise, there really is no reason to buy f if you
already have played through F.
--> Will f/F 2nd be released in the West?
YES! In fact, the Playstation Blog said f and F received a "fantastic
reception to the PS3 and PS Vita" so the sequel will be released in the West.
Great job, video game and Vocaloid fans! In fact, both games will be
receiving a physical release. This game featuressome the Vocaloid's greatest
hits, many from the Project Diva PSP games. There are also more help and
challenge items, making it easier to customize the difficulty level. Hope
you will pick up a copy (or two)!
--> What's your favorite song?
In this game? Probably "Cat Food," although "Melancholic" and "World's End
Dance Hall" are also really good. "ACUTE" often gets stuck in my head and
"Weekender Girl" is fun. My all-time favorite is probably "Romeo to
Cinderella" (or "Romeo and Cinderella", if you prefer). Also need more Dios,
Mitchie M, and Samfree in F 2nd. And Kaito V3.
Update: Yay, f/F 2nd has granted most of my wishes!
