1.2 - Introduction

This is my second FAQ, it's for a very fun adventure RPG for the Turbo Grafx 16
The name of this game is Dragon's Curse, it's in the Wonderboy in Monster Land
and Adventure Island series.  It's very similar to Zelda II in that it's a side
scrolling adventure RPG where you find magic power ups and thing to aid you
through your journey.  Hudson Soft from NEC made the game in 1990 and is now
on the Nintendo Wii.  Thanks Nintendo for showing newer generations the great
classics of the 90s.

I have played through this game numerous times so this walkthrough should flow
rather well.  This is one of my favorites games.

Eventually I'll add a monster list and a list of all items and all their
effects, but for now I listed where all of them are, just when you find them,
so you have a walkthrough.

If you want to use my walkthrough just ask me, all I will do is say no, but I
will probably say yes.  If I don't allow you to use it, it's probably because
I'm lazy.

      II - Game Information

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      2.1 - Plot

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Taken straight from the game

"You are entering the dragon castle.  Your mission is to defeat the 5 ghostly
goons and save your country.  Be aware of the dragon's power as they can turn
you into a totally disgusting creature.  The only way for you to get back to
human form is to fight these dragons and find the Salamander Cross.  It has the
power to cure the curse of these ugly and disgusting demons.  Your battle is
about to begin."

Furthermore, what happens at the end of the first Wonderboy

SPOILERS

is that you go to this huge castle to fight this dragon, and Dragon's Curse
picks up in that castle, but this time it's much much easier, and then
the first Wonderboy ended where this one picks up.  Simple enough.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      2.2 - Controls

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The D-Pad does the obvious, moves you left or right, makes you duck, and
holding up opens doors.

Run - Opens your menu

Button II - attacks

Button I - jumps

Select - ?

Holding down when you press Button I will allow you to use magic.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      2.3 - Basic Things to Know

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Here's a cheat apparently only I know because I've never seen it posted any
where.  If you want money fast but you don't want to save up you can just save
and load or use a password and you'll have more money than you previously had.
The only downfall is that you'll lose potions and items that you have, but no
armor of course, just magics and medicines.  Sometimes it won't work, if that
happens, I'm sorry.

- There are two different kinds of locked doors.  Locked doors with green key
holes only require one key for the entire game, as in, once you unlock them
once you don't have to use anymore keys on them.  Red key holes require a key
everytime you go through the door.

- Some items will not appear in the store, they will only appear as a question
mark (?)  If this happens you must get more CP or Charisma Points, to do this
you either need to wear nicer armor or be a different Man, as in a different
form.  In my walkthrough I'll get you everything one way or another, don't
worry.

- There are 3 levels of enemies.  Red-green-blue.  Red is the easiest,
green is in the middle, blue is the hardest.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      III - Walkthrough

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      3.1 - Hu-Man

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Move right killing green snakes, be careful, they jump and may hit you, but
you won't take much damage, then at the end of the path is a spring that will
shoot you to a platform with a blue snake on it.  Kill the blue snake and
continue on the upper path.  There should be some red cyclopses, kill them and
continue on until you find a hole in the ground, and after you see the hole
drop down it.  Upon landing, move left and fall down another hole, and then
you should see a skeleton with no skull.  Move left and jump up the staircase.
Keep fighting your way left until you get to the door, and prepare for a boss
fight.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      MECHA-DRAGON
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Easiest boss in the game, you have to try to die if you want to.  Simple
pattern, jump and hit him in the head, you don't have to try and avoid his fire
because you're so strong at this point, but if you want to avoid taking damage
for whatever reason, wait until after he shoots his fire, then jump and attack.
He will only breath fire when you hit him.  It should take around 8 hits. Try
and kill him towards the center for optimum gold.

Upon his death he will turn into a blue flame and drop gold coins, if the
blue flame touches you, you will transform into the next creature in the game,
so try and get as much gold as you can before this happens.  Basically the
blue flame will dip down and you want to get gold whilst it sits still,
this is a general rule of thumb for the rest of the game.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      3.2 - Lizard-Man

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After you turn into the Lizard-Man you will be outside of the boss room and
back into the dungeon.  Notice that you shoot fire now instead of swinging a
sword.

After killing some more cyclopses, a green one will drop a heart which will
give you all of your HP back.  Then after you get onto the next screen kill
the next green cyclopse and get a key and just go through the door.
Move right jumping over the blocks on the floor and avoiding the rocks
falling from the ceiling.  There will be one cyclops you need to kill, then
just keep on moving right, and eventually you'll get to a dead end.  The
falling stones will make a staircase for you to leave through, and after
they do climb to the top and leave the dungeon.  Then after you come out
of the pipe Mario style, move left ignoring the locked door and killing
whatever is in your way.

Then you should see a clip of the castle crumbling.  Upoin reading the text
you should find out that you have the Dragon's Curse and that you're a gross
creature.  Now you have to find the Salamander Cross.  You will find weapons
and armor to aid you in your journey.  You are a desperado and you have to
save the world from the clutches of evil.

GASP.  Your hearts went back down to one and you only have ivory armor now
instead of max hearts and legendary armor.  Oh well, now you're at the main
town.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      TOWN
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a church to either save at or get your password at.  The church is the
first building on the right and has a cross on it.  Apparently the only priest
they could find is a purple pig who smokes.  If you move left you'll see a two
story house, the bottom floor leads to the next dungeon and the top floor is
a store.  If you got enough money you can buy the mithril shield and armor,
and when you buy the armor and equip your CP should shoot up high enough for
you to get the mithril sword.  If you don't have enough money just come back
later.

Anyway, move left to the second two story building, jumping over the
spring, and go to the bottom door.  You will need to fall down a hole to the
right, and then just move right, and there will be a treasure chest with an
extra heart inside of it.  Now you have two hearts, good job.  Then just go
back left and leave through the only door.  Then leave the building
completely.

The last house with a door all the way to the left is a hospital that will
heal you.

Then move back to the building with the dungeon and enter.  You'll jump down
a pipe to the right and end up in some water, walk to the right and jump
up the stairs.  And now you're at a beach.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      BEACH
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The door you see will bring you back to town, so don't take it yet.  You can
either go into the water and move right or just jump over the chunks of land
to get to the right, but either takes you to the same place.

After you get to the next screen, fall in the water.  After you get in the
water go the left and there will be a door with some items and gold.  Then
leave and just keep moving right and eventually you'll kill some green
octopi and enter a door.

Before you get to the door you'll find possibly the most annoying enemy
in the game, the fire defocating cloud.  You can normally kill him using
an arrow or a few lightnings, or you can just ignore him, but either way
learn how to deal with him now, because you will see him in many more places,
but when you're back on land just keep on heading right until you find a door,
go through the door and skip the shop for now and get the key in the other
room, if you bought the mithril armor and if you have enough money, you can
get the goblin mail now, if not come back later if you want, but for now,
leave and just go back to town.

Once back in town, jump to the top floor of the big tower and enter the door
using your newly acquired key.  Once inside, keep hopping on up until you
reach a door.  Then you should be outside of the tower in the sky, if you
want you can jump back to town or just move on to the next area, the desert.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      DESERT
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You have two choices, but the right is too dangerous for you at the moment, so
choose to go left.  After you go left for a while you'll see a beatle looking
monster shooting fire from the ground, if you want to get some treasure equip
the tornado magic and hit him with it, and then go down the pit he was in.
Be careful when you get down there though, because if you're too close to the
left side you'll get shot back up on one of the springs, so just be close to
the right side when you go down.  After moving left enough you'll eventually
find a door that leads treasure chest which has some nice goodies for you.
Then leave, and go up through the closest spring.  If you would have traveled
on land you would have just fought enemies and not gotten the treasure.

Move left and jump and kill the cloud.  If you're having trouble with the fire
flowers, you can negate their fire if you shoot it with your fire breath, but
anywho, you should see two pipes leading down.  Ignore them both for now and
start climbing the tower.  Once you get to the top, just move left and get
to the bottom.  There you should see a sphinx with a door, enter the door
and get an extra heart.  Yay, but when you exit watch out for the the fat
archer.  If you need gold he drops a nice sum at this point in the game,
and just like the fire flowers you can negate his arrow with your fire
breath.  Furthermore, remember this place for a future sidequest.  But
anyway, climb back to the top and then back to the bottom on then take the
pipe on the right side.  Once inside the pyramid ignore the door you see
because it will just take you to the room with the springs that will make you
exit the pyramid.  Dodge the fire shooting heads and move left, and go up the
pipe.  Then just work your way up to the top of the pyramid, heal at the
hospital if you want, and then get the key inside the chest.  After you get
the key, make your way to the spring and jump up to get the second dungeon.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
     LIZARD-MAN DUNGEON
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first few rooms are rather linear, kill the frogs, if you shoot at them
far enough away they won't move, and then just keep moving left.  Dodge the
fire shooting heads from the ceiling and keep on hopping on to the left.

Eventually you'll get to a room with nothing but springs for the floor.  It's
rather simple, use the springs to jump over the fire shooting heads on the
floor.  When they stop you'll just have to jump over the fire shooting heads
on your own.  There will be a spot with two fire shooting heads on the floor,
to dodge them, just time your jump a little more precise.

In the next room there will be a fire shooting head attached to the wall, and
you can get rid of his fire if you shoot at it with yours, and then kill the
red ghost coming at you and keep moving left.  Then after you pass two pharaoh
statues you will notice a fire shooting head on the right side, just duck
under his fire and ignore it, it's rather simple.  Then you'll notice one
more shooting at you from the left wall, you can choose how to deal with him.

Now, start counting pharoah statues.  After three there will be an invisible
hole in the floor on the bottom row, jump over that to the fourth pharaoh, but
you have to time it so you don't get hit by the fire shooting head, if
you do that you can enter walk through the wall to the left for a nice treasure
chest with a medicine and a recovery heart.  Then leave the room and you'll be
at the room before the boss.  Duck as soon as you land so you don't get hit by
the last two fire shooting heads. Then run left, and enter the door to the boss
Equip a magic if you want, but you won't need one.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      PIG-DRAGON
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, this is a relative easy boss fight.  It will start out and he'll be
running at you.  The pattern goes like this ...

Jump - Shoot him in the nose, and he'll get a little higher
Jump - Shoot him in the nose, and he'll get a little higher
Jump - Shoot him in the nose, and he'll get so high you can't jump and hit
him anymore

Then he'll fly around a shoot green blobs at you, if you're under him when he
shoots them you won't get hit, but when he's done shooting he could drop down
on you, but normally he'll fly around before he drops.  You'll figure out how
to dodge the green blobs, if you can't get under him, and even if you do get
hit you'll be fine.

It took me 24 hits with the ivory sword, or 8 rounds of 3 shots using that
pattern.  Then the blue fire will appear and try and transform you, get as
much gold as you can before he does.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      3.3 - Mouse-Man

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now you're a mouse and you have a sword and a shield again.  Notice that if you
jump and hold in the direction of the spotted wall you can stick to the wall
and walk on it.

Anyway, you'll be back at the pyramid, and you just work your way down until
you notice a small gap that only a mouse could fit through.  Go through it.
If you haven't figured it out yet, you're going to need to stick to the wall
to get through.  Then you'll see a treasure chest with a bunch of gold and
stones.  Unequip the goblin mail and equip the mithril armor and buy the
dancing shield and equip it.  Then re-equip the goblin mail and leave through
last door.

Once you're back in town you can save if you want or get the ever so popular
password, and heal if you want to spend the money, but once you're done with
that move to the left side of the town and climb over the spotted wall.

You'll notice a store, but your CP isn't high enough for you to see it, so
ignore the store for now.

Now you'll be in a forest

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      FOREST
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first screen is easy, just run feverishly to the left and ignore the
cloud, and jump over the blue balls.  Haha, I said blue balls.

Putting all ten year old jokes aside, keep on moving left, and an even more
annoying cloud monster will bother you, for you see, his fire balls will
chase you when they hit the ground, so you have two choices.  You can either
kill him with an arrow, or do as I do, and run from the fires until they get
close, turn and block them with your shield, rinse and repeat until you're on
the next screen.

Now you'll see a maze of spotted wall, here's what we do here.  First,
climb to the very top, and go to the very top left corner, then jump.
You'll get another secret chest with money and heart recovery.  Then you'll
be teleported back to the screen with spotted wall maze, from here, take the
path second from the top, the path under the one where you just got the secret
Now you'll be at an even spookier forest.

Now you'll see a store, equip the mithril armor and buy the shogun lamellar.
If you don't have enough money, just run around killing enemies until you do.
Leave the store and equip the shogun lamellar, then enter the store again and
buy the shogun blade and shogun shield.  Buy the sword first, because the
shield you have now is stronger than the shogun shield, but buy them both
anyway just to milk the game for 100%, and for a more important reason,
some classes are more proficient in certain weapons and armor, so another
class might get better DP with the shogun shield.

Then after you buy the armor, continue left killing whatever is in your way
and jumping over any obstacles are in your way.  Eventually you'll have to
climb some spotted walls, but it's very linear.  After climbing a number of
spotted walls you'll get to some where there are monsters moving around
on the top, just climb on the side and kill them while on the side of the
wall.

After you finish the screen I just mentioned you'll get to an area where
the skulls aren't attached the skeletons, so they'll dip down and try to
hit you, so just continue with caution.  Make sure to kill the red ghost
to get the key.  Then you can either climb up or climb down.  Choose
to go down, go into the water, and go into the only door and open the chest
to get an extra heart.  Then leave through the door you came into and climb
back to the top, and go all the way to the top, jump off and try to get
to the center of the screen.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      MOUSE-MAN DUNGEON
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As soon as you enter you'll notice that you can go down a hole.  Go down the
hole, follow the path, enter the door and get a chest fill with
some recovery hearts, some tornadoes, and a medicine.  Then go back to the
beginning of the dungeon.

From the beginning of the dungeon, just follow the only path.  There are more
fire shooting heads, but now you have a shield to block them.

The dungeon is very linear, each room has different enemies.  The enemies
come in this order:

1. Ghosts

2. Cyclopse Ghosts

3. Witches and Wall Climbers
** During one play through of the game, the witches dropped some armor, but
I have no idea what it was, so if this happens to you contact me and tell me
what it was.

4. Skull-less Skeletons and Ghosts

5. One Green Cyclopse, one fire shooting head, and a blue ball.
On this floor, use your shield to block the fire from the fire shooting head

Now you're at the top, but here you just kill two Wall Climbers, and fall
down to the bottom, but it plays a nice little jingle while you fall.

Once again, climbing to the top, here is what happens.

1. Fire Shooting Heads

2. Green Cyclopse Ghosts
Walk slowly because these guys will pop out of nowhere

3. Wall Climbers and Fire Shooting Heads

4. Blue Ghosts and Skull-less Skeletons

5. Blue Balls and Fire Shooting Heads

Then you're at the top again, and time for the boss.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      ZOMBIE-DRAGON
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, so this dragon does two things, first he slides around the floor and
tries to hit you with his horns, just jump over him while he does this, and
when he pops up jump and hit him in the nose/head region.

If you miss him for whatever reason he'll shoot chicken pot pie at you, to
dodge it get close to, because it arks out of his mouth, so that there is a
safety region between yourself and his body, and when he's done spitting
his lunch at you he'll go back under and move around.

Rinse and repeat, it took me 14 hits with the shogun sword.

Then you'll get another chance at money with the blue fire, and you'll
eventually get turned into the Piranha-Man

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      3.4 - Piranha-Man

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Equip the Shogun shield I told you to buy now, and after you leave the dungeon
jump to the left and land in the water, and then go through the door and go
back to town.

To swim all you do is press button I while in water, just like jumping on land.
Also take note that the Piranha-Man does not duck.

Save and whatnot and then go the beach from the beginning of the game.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      BEACH
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Immediately go in the water as soon as possible, then head left to a shop.  Buy
the Aqua Shield and equip it.  Then just go back to town, and once back at town
you'll want to go to the desert.  Yes, you finish the desert at the fish.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      DESERT
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take the right path this time.  It's linear, so just kill everything in your
way.

Eventually you'll get to some lava.  Don't fall in the lava.  Keep moving right
jumping on platforms and whatnot.

Eventually you'll get to a spring, jump on it and head into the house.  Get the
treasure chest and then go in the store, buy the Dragon Mail, and with this
your defense will go down but you can go in the lava without taking damage.

After you make it all the way to the right you'll enter a building.  When you
get in, swim to the door, and go in it.  Then you'll be in a room with three
doors, go in the door in the middle at the top of the bricks, and you'll fall
onto a transform block.  Transform yourself into the mouse.  Then leave
through the door on the right and climb to the top and drop down to get the
chest.  Now you have a sword upgrade that lets you break those brown colored
blocks you've seen.  So break the blocks to your left and go back into the
room with the transform block, turn back into the fish and leave through the
door surrounded with blocks.

Now go back to the tunnel that leads to the beach, but stay in the room with
the blocks.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      TOWN
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Break the left most block, and activate the hidden room, and it contains
a transform block, then transform into a mouse, then leave.

I could have had you leave the desert as a mouse, but now you know about
this much faster way to transform.

Furthermore, use the spotted blocks in the middle of town to go down into a
new area, and move all the way to the left until you see four pipes.  Jump
in the closest one and it will have springs that shoot you to the top, and
when you get shot to the top, stick to the ceiling and head to the left pipe.
Then enter it, and you'll be in an area with a bunch of breakable blocks, go
around and break all of them, and make sure you stick to the floor so that
you can break them all.  Finally one should have a question mark block
that hides a hidden a door.  Go in the door and get another secret sword
ability.  It allows to make blocks on the special wall blocks.  So equip
it and go to the top of the room and leave.  You can break the blocks you
make, so you can have fun in that room if you want to, but I just left.  If
there is something in that room missed, contact me and tell me, but I doubt
that there is.

Re-equip a real sword.

Then turn back into the fish and go to the sewer before the beach.  You might
have noticed a place where you can jump through the top of the screen.  Go
there and you'll see a store.  Get the samurai armor they sell.  Then when
you equip it your CP should be high enough to get the lucky sword, but you
might not have enough money.  Go get money and buy it.  Or, if you don't want
to raise money, just hop over the roof and go in the house to the right, and
get the chest with the money and buy.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      BEACH
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once at the beach, go underwater and move right until you see breakable blocks.
Break them and follow the linear path.  Eventually you'll have the choice of
going left or right.  You can go left if you need to get healed in the hospital
or you can go right and continue on with the game.  To the right is the dungeon
but skip it now, because the pipe in the bottom right corner leads to a path
that leads to an extra heart.  Get it, then go back to the where the dungeon
was.  Then just go in the dungeon.  In case you don't see it, it's at the top
of the sunken boat.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      PIRANHA-MAN DUNGEON
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This dungeon is rather straight forward.  Just keep moving left fighting
enemies and you'll get to the boss, here's what each room has.

1. Red Banshees and Green Witches
The Banshees will pop out of nowhere and annoy you, so walk slowly through
the whole dungeon.

2. Green Banshees and Floating Blocks
They will shoot at you, so use your shield wisely.

3. Green Banshees and Green Cyclopses

4. Green Banshees and Fire Shooting Heads

5. Green Banshees and Blue Octopi

6. Green Cyclopses and Blue Banshees

Then boss time.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      PIRATE-DRAGON
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Basically, all he does is shoot hooks at you and jump around.  You can use
your shield to block the hooks, or you can just stand where they won't hit you.
When he jumps all you have to do is run under him, it's pretty simple.  Jump
and hit him in the nose/head region like always.

He'll shoot hooks then jump, and that's his pattern.  If you hit him he'll
jump to the center of the room.

Wow, I surprised myself, I found a really easy pattern for the first time.
Get kind of close to him, so close you can jump straight up and hit him, but
he won't hit you, and you'll knock him back, and everytime you hit him he'll
jump, but he'll jump just close enough that he can't hit you and you can hit
him.  This only works if he's in the center of the room when you hit him.
Rinse and repeat until dead.

It took me 14 hits with the Lucky Sword.

Then the blue fire will transform you again, this time into a ...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      3.5 - Tiger-Man

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First and foremost, the tiger has the highest natural CP, so it's time to
go treasure hunting.  As soon as you leave the dungeon, go right and into the
house, enter the store and buy the master shield.  Then break the block above
your head with the tiger's arch swing, and then go back to town.  Now go back
to town, and turn into the mouse, equip the samurai armor, go to the shop on
the far left side of the town, and buy the prince armor.
Remember where we got the magical saber?  Go back to that area with the tiger.
You might have noticed some blocks you walked over.  Break those with the
tiger, and at the bottom to the right is an extra heart. Get it, then go
back left. After you get back to where you were, move left to the pipes,
and you're going to want to go to the second one from the left, but before
that, notice the block you can break?  Break it, open the shop, and buy the
muramasa blade, now you're going to want to get into the pipes.
Jump in and be careful not to fall in any of the others.  When you get there,
you'll be at a new area.  I'll call it a cave.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      CAVE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rather linear, on the first screen just move left and kill enemies.  On the
second screen you will have two paths, pick the top path.  Then a little
farther left you'll have the same two choices.  This time take the bottom path.
On the next screen you'll have the same two choices, go the bottom route.  Then
jump over the lava.  If you want to, equip the dragon mail to be safe, because
there is more lava.  Then you'll have two paths again, choose the top,
or if you want to get healed there is a secret hospital in the bottom left
corner at the dead end, but either way to progress the game take the top path
and be careful about either lava or getting hit, because both hurt, it's
Catch-22, you'll take more damage with the dragon mail on, but without it on
the lava will hurt, so choose whatever, it won't matter that much, but when
you're done make sure to re-equip your good armor.  Continuing left, the
background should to blue rock, and when there kill the random monsters and
keep moving left.  Then when you have the choice of the upper or lower path,
take the upper path this time.  Go fight enemies until you get 1480 gold,
because there is a secret shop here.  All the way to the left of the top
path is a dead end, but hold up near the end of the dead and end you'll
find a shop with a sword.  Once you do that go back and take the bottom
path, then move left and kill the enemies as usual.  Then you will notice a
large open space under you as you are moving left.  Walk directly above the
top right corner of the empty area and hold up to find a hidden door.
Then move left in the hidden area, then move left all the way to find another
hidden door, and you should find a chest with a lot of gold and a medicine,
then just keep moving left, then when you have two choices again take the
bottom if you want to refill your HP.  There will be
a blue cyclops, kill him for a full HP recovery, then go back and take the
top path.  Then jump from the ledge to platform with the big house on it.
Walk left, kill the blue cyclops, then enter the dungeon.

Prepare, this is the first real challenging dungeon.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      TIGER-MAN DUNGEON
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are two kinds of enemies in this dungeon: ninja and samurai.  They are
both the hardest enemies in the game.  The ninjas will throw ninja stars at you
and jump around while the samurai will jump back and shoot stuff
when you try and attack them.  The only trick to them is just timing and
practice.  But anyway, here's the dungeon room by room.

1. Red Ninja
Don't be afraid to use your shield.  Personally, I like to hit the ninja
while in the air so that they'll be stunned on the ground

2. Green Ninja and Blue Balls

3. Red Samurai
If they jump back from you, you can run and attack again quickly to get
your hit on them.

4. Green Samurai and Blue Bats

5. Red Ninja and Green Samurai
You move right to left in this room - The Red Ninja will start in the air
and shoot at you from there, so you either need to jump and get your shield to
hit the stars, or jump over, or use some magic to stun them before they can
hit you, but just be aware that you can't dodge the ninja stars at ground level

6. Blue Samurai and Floating Blocks

7. Blue Samurai and Green Ninja
Right to left room

8. Blue Ninja

9. Blue Ninja and Blue Samurai

10. A secret door past the door leading to the boss.  The secret door has a
recovery heart and a medicine.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      SAMURAI-DRAGON
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the second hardest boss next to the final boss.  He has two attacks.
When his sword is in the air he will shoot four balls of energy at you.  When
his sword is at an angle he will swing at you.  The only time you can hit him
is when his sword is straight in the air.

Make sure you equip the fire ball magic before you enter the fight, at times
he will close you in the corner, if this happens, shoot him with a fire ball.

After a few trials, here's the most effective pattern I've found.  Equip fire
ball.  As soon as the battle starts, run and hit him, but as soon as you make
contact and hit him, move slightly to the left.  Here is the tricky part of the
battle.  You have to move left enough to not get hit by his falling sword,
but not so far that the blue balls of energy.  That's the main pattern, but
to make him more defenseless, if you hit him with a fireball, he will drop his
guard and you can attack him.  That should speed the battle up and make it a
little easier.

I wasn't paying attention to how many hits this battle took, mainly because
I was doing anywhere from 2-4 damage, and the fireballs would ocasionally do
1 point of damage, so it wasn't easy to count.  I did use all 3 potions though
That might give you some reference.  Also, I didn't have the muramasa blade yet
because I'm stupid, so you should have a much easier time than I did.

But anyway, try and get as much money as you can here, because the last blue
fire, and we have a lot of spending to do before we beat the game.

Then you turn into the hawk.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      3.6 Hawk-Man

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Equip the shogun shield since, for some odd reason, it's stronger on the hawk.
Upon leaving the god forsaken dungeon you should fly straight up, and enter
the door.  In the room get the chest full of gold and then enter the shop.  I
hope you have 2000 gold, because that's how much the armor here costs, and the
hawk has horrible defense, so you'll need it.  Now go back to town, and then
go to the beach by flying right and dropping down before you see that arrow,
then go left into the sewer, and fly up at the opening.  You'll get an
extra heart.  Now just go back to town.  Notice that you fly the same way the
fish swam.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      TOWN
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Save, and now all we have left is treasure hunting and the last dungeon.  So
let's get started.  Alright, now let's go to the desert dig up some buried
treasure.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      DESERT
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Go all the way to the left to where the sphinx treasure room is.  Notice how
all the blocks are breakable?  Break them and get out of the room.  There are
eight chests.  They have coins, money bags, all 5 magics, and then a "fun" box.
Each time you open a chest you have to leave if you want to open another, so
press up and leave through the invisible doors, and do that 8 times.  Now go
back to the Lizard-Man Dungeon, and get to the very end, and instead of
dropping down to where the boss is, fly to the ceiling, and feel your way
around the ceiling until you fly through the ceiling, and you'll get a treasure
chest with a bunch of money and two medicines, so at this point if you lost 3
medicines fighting the Samurai-Dragon, you should have gotten all 3 back now.
Now when you leave the dungeon, pick up a key on the way down, and head on
back to town.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      TOWN
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now with your new key, make your way back to the beach, but
instead of going to beach, fly above it and go right, and you'll be at the
dungeon from the beginning of the game.  Enter it.  Now go through it the
same way you did the first time, going to where the boss was, and you'll
get the legendary sword!  The best sword in the game.  Then, leave the same
way you left the first time, and make sure to kill every enemy.  A blue
cyclops will drop the legendary armor!  Then leave, and as you leave, hold
up in the pipe you leave through.  The store here sells the legendary shield
for the hefty price of 5440 gold.  Start saving up.  After you do that, you
should buy the heavenly shield so that you have a life drop.  If you equip
the hades armor and the heavenly shield and you die, you won't die
you'll get a few hearts back, pretty much like a medicine, but you won't
use a medicine.  The heavenly shield is in the store right of town.  Either
way, buy a key from the store that sells the heavenly shield.

After you buy those last two shields you can either go back and buy the rest
of the armor or you can just go to the last dungeon, skip down from here
if you're just going to the last dungeon, but if you plan on getting
a complete armory, keep reading.

Go to the left of town passed the spotted blocks and buy the knight shield.

Turn into the mouse and equip the legendary armor, and if you save up
9330 gold, you can get the full crystal set.

Apparently I forgot to tell you to buy the first sword for 15 gold,
so get that if you want.  It's called the mithril sword.

And that should be all the armor in the game.

If you're trying to save up 20,000 gold for random armors and shields,
I recommend turning into the tiger and running back and forth through
his cave area and his dungeon, that seemed to net me the most money.
Also, I believe the Lucky Sword will get you more gold when you kill
enemies.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      HAWK-MAN DUNGEON
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Go to where you go to get to the desert, but instead of going through the door
that leads to the desert, fly left.  You should see a bunch of bricks and
a door.  Then break the bricks at the top and one of them will give you
a recovery heart, then use your key to open that door.  Remember that magic
sword we got?  Equip it.  Use it on the brick in the center.  Then equip your
legendary sword and break it to reveal a question mark block and then the door
leading to the last dungeon.

*******************************************************************************
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~~~~~~~~~~~FROM THIS POINT ON YOU CAN'T GO BACK UNLESS YOU DIE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*******************************************************************************
With that said, last dungeon time.  Go through the door, then you'll see
a nice scenic scene with a big castle.  Go inside.  The first room only has
fire shooting heads, and a door leading to a hospital, but if you got that
heart, you won't need it.  So fly up through the opening.  Then fly through the
second room and just dodge and ignore the blue wall climbers.  In the third
room fly up to the second floor and walk through the wall to the right.  Break
the block for a small heart and keep on moving right.  Then you'll notice two
fire shooting heads making it harad for you to continue, just block the fire
with your shield and go in the room, turn into the mouse, and keep on moving.
Once you're the mouse, move on the spotted blocks and walk through the wall.
The wall's maze is in the shape of an S, just keep moving right and jumping,
then left, then right, and you'll figure out how to get out.  Then in the
fourth room there are just some enemies, blue crabs and a blue cloud, then
jump on the first ledge, and run through the wall, and fall down.  This
room is easy, fall to the bottom and walk left through the wall.  Then after
you fall, kill the cyclops and get the last bit of treasure, the last heart
container!  Now keep moving left.  Kill the clouds if you want, and then at
the end of the room is a crate hiding a spring.  Break the crate, jump on the
spring, go through the wall, and fall down.  In the next room, just fall to
the floor and go through the bottom of the wall like last time.  Then you
need to go through the door and turn into the fish
Once you're the fish, go to the door in the top right.  Then kill the fish
in the next room and go through the next door.  Now move right killing
the sea shooters and ninjas.  The next room has blue samurai and blue
banshees.  Then go in the door and turn into the tiger.
Now that you're the tiger, break through the wall to your right and drop
down.  The next room is simple, kill the enemies and drop.  Same with
the next room, dodge the fire and drop, then the next room is a wee
bit tricky.  Fall to the right, jump over the two fire shooting heads,
carefully jump up and use your shield to dodge the last fire shooting
head, then just drop.  In the next room there won't be many lights,
but that's not a big deal.  Kill the fat spear throwing pigs, and keep
on moving.  Kill the banshees if you want to as well.  In the next room
jump over the fire shooting heads and kill the blue ninjas if you want.
This room is a pain, but you'll make your way through.  Now in this
dark room, kill any enemies in your way, and drop on the left side and run
right and you'll fall down a hole.  Now in this last dark room, just
follow the lights up and to the left, then fall down.  Now you should
be in a lit room.  Fall in the floor in the middle and go through the door,
turn into the hawk.
Fly up with the hawk, then maneuvar around so as to not take much damage
or any damage from the pig spear thrower and the fire shooting head.
Then fly through the ceiling to continue.  This next room is rather simple.
Dodge the fire balls and go through the ceiling.  In the next room fly
around and go through the wall at the top side of the screen and break
the box to get a tiny heart, and now you're at the last boss.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      VAMPIRE-DRAGON
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's a nasty twist, but this boss is not thate hard, but either way get
ready.
The jerk starts by coming from under you, dealing a chunk of damage, so make
sure to run and to the left side of the screen at the beginning of the battle.
You have to hit him in the stomach, and I found it easiest if I stayed on the
ground and let him come to me, and jumping and hitting him in the stomach.
He went down rather quick, and I even had a medicine left over.  So have fun.
Watch the ending and relax.
Thanks for GameFAQs in general
Thank you to my brother for being such a huge influence
I did not have to go anywhere to find anything about this game, it's been
a favorite of mine since I was five or six, and thus the only person
to really give credit to is my brother, he showed me where most of the
secrets were and I found the rest on my own.  Thanks brother.
