Zen Nihon Pro Wrestling by NCS. A game for the Super Famicon (SNES)
system released in 1993. It is a quick moving, cartoonish wrestling game
that is quite good. It spawned two sequels and Natsume Championship
Wrestling. Matches are decided by pinfall or countout.

Controls Basics-
button
X= run
Y= punch or weak grapple
B= kick or medium grapple or climb corner or enter/ exit ring
A= power strike or strong grapple
L= pin or tag
R= taunt

Grappling occurs when the wrestlers touch. The one to input their move
first wins and will perform a move.
To irish whip a wrestler win a grapple by pushing a direction and the run button.
To put a fallen opponent in a hold or do a ground attack use the kick or
power button.
To pick up an opponent push the Y button (punch) twice. This will stand him up.
Pushing the Y button once will sit your opponent up so you can kick him in the
back or apply sleeper or chinlock (A button).

Grapples-

"Y" grapples- slams, hip tosses, punch/kick/chop combos. With some wrestlers
                   you must hold the Dpad up or down (instead of tapping) and push Y.
Examples-  Kawada machine gun kicks= hold down+Y
                   Kobashi hip toss= hold up+Y
                   Patriot's belly to belly overhead release suplex= hold down+Y

"B" grapples-suplexes,piledriver,power slam etc.
Examples-  piledriver (all players)= tap up+B
                    Kikuchi snap suplex= tap down+B
                    Ogawa neck breaker=tap down+B

"A" grapples-back drop suplex, DDTs,powerbombs, finishers
Examples- Misawa tiger bomb= down+A
                - Ace Crusher= down+A
                - Dr Death Oklahoma slam= down+A
                - Taue Chokeslam=down+A
                - Patriot Full Nelson Slam=down+A

Running attacks- Very simple, run at opponent then push Y, B. or A. To counter
attack a whipped opponent push Y,B or A. If you whip a wrestler at the very top
of the ring he will run into the steel post and be stunned. A whip close to the ropes
will send him out to the floor.

The ropes- these are useful to do extra damage and stun an opponent. Using
a front slam (ie Fuchi- hold down +Y) will hot shot your opponent off the top
rope and hurt him  more. Using punches,kicks and strike based Y grapples
to bounce people off the rope is also effective.
The down side to the ropes is that it is too easy to send an opponent to the
floor. A suplex or slam in the direction of the ropes can send him flying
off like a pinball.

Power Moves non grapple- if you press the A button while you are fighting
a standing opponent (preferrably stunned) your wrestler will reach out
and do a non grapple power move. Hold the D-pad in different directions
for the various moves. There are a lot of subtle hits and throws in the game
so experiment. The computer always seems to have a new move.
Examples- Fuchi cobra twist=up+A (close but not grappling)
                   Fuchi low drop kick=left/right+A or just A
                   Fuchi front slam=down+A

Top rope attacks- very few wrestlers in Zen Nihon PW have these.Climb the corner
with the Dpad toward it and the B button. The tope rope attacks are as follows;
Kawada- flying elbow
Kikuchi- diving headbutt
Kobashi-moonsault with pin
Misawa- frog splash with pin
Ogawa- flying drop kick (if the opponent is down the AI will stand him stunned
to receive the hit)
Patriot- flying shoulder tackle (AI will stand opponent up for hit)

The stamina bar- indicates the health of the wrestlers. A wrestler in the red
or black is ready for a pinfall. Comebacks, crowd approval, and resting
after you tag out in tag matches raise stamina. Being beat up and taunted
drops stamina.
