Update History:
Version 1.1 08/09/06
I've found some other info on the whole Super Scope as well as changing up the
faq so it looks a little better. I also got some better descriptions for each
game up.
Version 1.0 08/05/06
I noticed nothing had been done for this game so I pulled out my old Super
Scope 6 and set up a faq. In this version I included controls, pre-cautions,
troubleshooting setup, and games/tips.
The Super Scope wasn't really a big hit, it is often looked down upon because
it was difficult to use mainly because it was big and clunky. Despite being
big, the Super Scope used a up its batteries in a few hours - making it even
more undesirable. Figure that and the lack of compatible games doesn't make it
look to good.
____________
How it Works
+------------+
The Super Scope monitors the actual scope in the image to find the position of
a sprite with high precision. Upon firing, the Scope relays information about
where on the screen it is aimed to an infared receiver on top of the television
set. This receiver is plugged into controller slot two of the SNES. Some modern
LCD televisions are incompatible with the super scope due to the lack of a
scope for the light sensor to monitor.
What you need:
1) Super Nintendo Entertainment System
2) Super Scope 6 Game Cartridge
3) Super Scope Lightgun
4) Super Scope Receiver
5) Six "AA" Batteries (that work)
Compatible Games
1) Battle Clash
2) Bazooka Blitzkrieg
3) The Hunt for Red October (Bonus games)
4) Lamborghini American Challenge (A different game mode)
5) Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge - Battle Clash's sequel
6) Operation Thunderbolt
7) Super Scope 6 (Bundled)
8) Terminator 2: The Arcade Game
9) Tin Star
10) X-Zone
11) Yoshi's Safari
Mounting the Sight
-If you are left handed/eye dominant, then you want to put the scope on the
right side when the gun is pointed away from you.
-If you are right handed/eye dominant, then you want to put the scope on
the left side when the gun is pointed away from you.
-Place the front of the site just before the sight holder and slide
forward. Line up the two arrows to ensure it is in posistion. Remember,
the smaller hole goes away from you and the larger tube is what you put
your eye up to.
Removing the Sight
-Press the release button located in near the back under the sight and
slide the sight back.
Installing Batteries
-The battery box is lcated under scope at the very back. Remove the cover
and install six "AA" batteries. Replace the cover and you're set!
Connecting the Receiver
-Plug the Super Scope receiver into control slot 2 and then the receiver on
top of the TV (be sure to get it as close to the TV screen). Make sure the
receiver is facing forward with the blank end the same way as the TV
screen.
_________
Operation
+---------+
Power Switch
-Slide the switch forward one slot to turn the Super Scope on. When it is
in this position, the Super Scope will fire one shot whenever the fire
button is pressed. If it is moved another notch to "turbo" the Super Scope
will fire repeatedly whenever the fire button is held down. Also note that
the turbo feature is not used in every game.
Pause
-Press the pause button to pause the game. Press again to continue. Also
note that the pause button can have different uses in some games.
Fire Button
-You'll be using this the majority of the time. Press to fire at the
targets on your TV screen.
Cursor Button
-While this button is pressed, a cursor dot will appear on the TV screen
showing where you are aiming. Also note that the cursor button can have
different uses in some games.

Aligning your sight
+-------------------+
After you place the game in your SNES, you will need to align the sight before
playing.
1) Make sure your TV and SNES are on
2) Turn the power switch to on or turbo
3) Stand around 6-16 feet away
4) Aim your Super Scope at the TV screen and press the fire button to
adjust the sight settings (this will be an option)
-If there is nothing hitting the screen, shoot again at different spots
on the TV. If there is still nothing going on, check the batteries.
5) Look through the sight and through the small hole on the front of the
sight and line it up with the target on the screen. Press fire to align
the sights correctly.
After you shoot the gun a dot should appear on the screen where you are
aiming. A second later, a new screen will appear and you can keep practicing
here.
-If the dots are appearing where you are aiming, the the alignment is
correct. You are now ready to play, follow the instructions from the game.
-If the dots aren't correct, reset the game and realign the sights.
-Moving around such as getting closer or farther away or moving left and
right can effect the alignment. Always make sure they're lined up before
you play.
Solutions
---------
-Check to make sure the power switch is on.
-Check batteries and make sure they are in correct and are new.
-Check to see if the reciever is plugged in and on top of the tv.
-Fluorescent lights can disrupt the connection, so turn any off .
-Check to make sure the sight is aligned correctly.
-Check the brightness on the TV.
Problem
-------
Sounds can be heard, but the TV screen isn't displaying a hit.
Solutions
---------
-Check the brightness on the TV.
-Check to make sure the sight is aligned correctly.
-Fluorescent lights can disrupt the connection, so turn any off .
Problem
-------
Certain sections of the TV screen cannot be hit.
Solution
--------
-Be sure you are around 10 feet away from the screen, realign the Scope.
Problem
-------
Firing works sometimes but not always.
Solutions
---------
-Check batteries and make sure they are in correct and are new.
-Check to see if the power switch is in the right slot, the game may not
support the turbo feature which may be throwing it off.
Problem
-------
Non-Super Scope games won't work
Solution
--------
-Unplug the receiver from the controller slot when not in use.
1) Do not use the Super Scope for more than 10 minutes at a time. Remember to
take breaks if you ever feel discomfort in your eyes, shoulder, arms,
neck, or and other body part. If it continues, STOP using the Super Scope.
2) The Super Scope isn't a real gun nor is it intended to be, it should never
be used to make others think it is real.
3) Keep the eye piece GENTLY against your eye.
4) Take care to not scratch the lens on both the Scope and receiver as well
as bending the front sight.
5) The Super Scope does not work with a projection television.
6) The Super Scope may not work on all tvs, mainly lacking certain functions.
7) Do not use the Super Scope simultaneously with an infared remote control.
They can mess with your VCR, DVD, or TV.
8) The Super Scope may not work in rooms using fluorescent lights.
9) Do not block the lens on the Super Scope or the receiver.
10) Be sure to turn off the power switch when you are done using the Scope.
11) When done, be sure to UNPLUG the receiver before playing any other game.
_____
Games
+-----+
There are a total of six different games in Super Scope 6. There are two
different types with three different games in each section. For LazerBlazer,
each game has 30 levels, upon completing those levels, the game will end.
LazerBlazer
-----------
-Intercept-
The player must shoot down incoming missiles before they get to the left
side of the screen. The missiles' distance from the screen varies. If the
player allows five missiles to reach the left side, the game finishes. The
player can only shoot three bullets at a time, and it takes awhile to
reload. Intercept is the only game in Lazer Blazer that allows two players
to play three levels in alternating turns.
-Tips-
Keep the gun on the right side, if any get passed don't worry about it
unless a bunch get passed. It's better to let a few go then go after
them and let more get by. Beating Intercept Mode requires a good
perception of timing. The farther away the missile is from you, the
farther you have to shoot ahead of it to hit it.
-Interesting Note-
Mario appears piloting a plane, chased by a Koopa Kid riding on a Rocket, in
some one-player game levels or in Level 2 of the two-player game. Hitting the
Koopa Kid will either recover a miss or award the player bonus points. But if
the player hits Mario instead, it will count as a miss or those points are void
(depending on which mode the player is).
**From Wikipedia**
-Engage-
The player needs to shoot down enemy fighters and incoming missiles before
the player ship's fuel runs out. If the player gets hit five times or the
ship's fuel runs out, the game is over. The player can only shoot four
bullets at a time, and it takes awhile to reload. When a level finishes, a
green ship refills the player ship's fuel. Occasionally, a red ship
appears. It not only refills fuel, but it can recover one hit.
-Tips-
These guys can be tricky, a lot of the times, they follow the same
flight plan. So if you can memorize how they're moving you should be
able to find out where they're going next. After you get passed level
ten, they'll start sending more ships at a time.
-Confront-
The player fights off an incoming invasion of enemy ships. In this game
the player can fire bullets indefinitely. Unlike Intercept or Engage, the
player can shoot an infinite number of bullets at any time. When an enemy
has not been destroyed for a while, it will attack and every shot received
counts as a hit. When the player has been hit five times, the game is
over. During some moments, flashing enemies wil appear. Shooting them will
recover a hit.
-Tips-
You need to be fast here or they'll pile up. Try to take them out when
they're far away, you can do it. When they get close they fly out of the
screen so you got to be ready for them. Never stop shooting, even for
one second. It may give you a low Score but it can make the difference
between beating the aliens or getting Destroyed.
Blastris
--------
-Blastris A-
Blastris A plays like a traditional Tetris game, in which the player must
make five lines to advance in stages. The pieces are dropped from left to
right in random columns, and the player must make them fit by shooting the
individual squares off the block. The bullets used for shooting the bricks
are limited to two per drop, although you can save them for more later.
Blastris A is the only game in Blastris that allows two player games. Both
players alternate turns between levels.
-Tips-
You need to focus on a few colors at a time. Try to use one row as a
different color and focus getting all colors there.
-Blastris B-
Blastris B plays more like Sega's Columns. Single multi-colored blocks are
dropped in random locations, and the player must make these blocks arrange
in rows, columns, or diagonal lines by shooting the falling blocks to make
them change color. Some blocks' colors are unchangeable, indicated by
their metallic outline and metallic sound when hit. The player can choose
between a stage based game mode (which involves a set number of blocks on
the bottom level, which the player must eliminate), or a single nonstop
game mode.
-Tips-
These columns can fill up fast. Use a similiar strategy as you did for
"A" you should focus only on combining a few colors and getting those to
one side and the rest in the middle.
-Mole Patrol-
Mole Patrol involves protecting your garden from invading blue moles by
shooting them. More points are given based on the player's reaction time
and accuracy, similar to a Whac-A-Mole game.
There are two game modes; Stage Game and Score Game.
-Stage Game has you play in levels. In each level, the player must shoot
all of the moles before the timer runs out, otherwise the game is over.
There are also red moles that once shot, speed up the clock, and increase
the speed of the moles, thereby making it even harder plus they don't
count as a mole. Every one in awhile a mole will appear in the sky,
flying on a rocket, most likely from Lazer Blazer's Intercept mode.
Shooting it results in bonus points. This mode ends when time runs out.
-Score mode is a single level mode in which the player must shoot the
moles in order to gain a higher score at the end of the level. If the
player shoots out the moles quickly, without missing any single shot, the
score will be higher.
-Tips-
Always watch out for the pink moles. These are bad and your screen gets
blurry if you happen to hit one. You also need to be quick, so keep the
gun in the middle and be ready to go to any side once they pop up.
