Seems I lied when I said V2.0 wouldn't come until everything was done.

The First one.
(If you are easily bored, stop reading this section now)
There will be many updates, but the only planned additions are 'FAQs'
and 'Battle Mode Tactics'. The 'Hey can I just say some stuff...' will
eventually disappear, and will be replaced with... well I'm not sure
if it will be replaced. The question for FAQs will go to the FAQs
section, the Battle Mode question will go to 'Battle Mode Tactics'.
The question for Tips and Tricks will go to the 'Tips and Tricks'
section. The one asking for Game Genie codes will go to the 'Game
Genie Codes' section. The one asking for some fast times? It will end
up going to the 'Fast Times' section. The one requesting character
preference line-ups will not end up in the 'Characters And How They
Rate' section; instead, it will have its own section, working title:
'Character Line-ups'. I have a feeling it won't last long though...
When I get those emails, the MKSC references will go into their cups
and the name of the game that I did my actual first guide on will end
up... somewhere. The little part stating that I'm Australian will be
added to the intro as a 'Post-Script' (or, 'PS'). The one about
getting the night-time screen on MKSC will disappear as soon as I get
an email saying that someone has done it, while the one about the
'group' that hates it how Koopa wasn't in the other games will be at
the very end of the guide. And the one about writing too much, that
will probably end up right here. In fact, I think I've said so much
here now that I'll introduce it to this little section right now...

Donkey Kong Jr: Okay, I don't like this monkey. But, I'm not going to
rave on about it. All I can say is, if YOU don't like
this monkey, use a Game Genie code. Or, learn how to
do a boost start.
Bowser: KKK. The Kool Koopa King. This kool king is definitely a
roadworthy driver and definitely does better on the road than
against Mario.

Mario: The star of the game. Not the best, no, that honour is bestowed
on Koopa Troopa. But he's still right up there with the best of
'em. He is the only all-round player and that is the most
important thing, but come on, you want the best, you don't come
to this guy.
Luigi: The only differences between the brothers are, Luigi jumps
higher, Luigi is thinner and Luigi turns sharper in this game.
What that means is, the overlooked brother is the better
brother. Still, I prefer Mario, mainly because my brother uses
Luigi. Or, he would if he still played this game.

Yoshi: The baby re-incarnation of T-Rex. He looks cute and all, but
he's one mean dinosaur. And one mean driver... Wazzat? Yoshi is
a pet lizard? NO! I've said it time and time again, to my
brother and my father, when we are playing Mario Kart 64, I say
'It's a DINOSAUR!' It all started when my dad commented on the
'frog' in front of him...
Toad: Either I can yap on about how I hate the Fungus or just cut it.
For the sake of all of you, the readers, I'll just cut it 'cause
if I slag him I'll probably get LOTS of hate mail. Oh well. For
some reason, there is one character that gets lapped TWICE. I
use Koopa Troopa, and Toad is usually that one that gets lapped
TWICE. Not to say he sucks, but I've used all of 'em and this
lump of fungi doesn't handle well with the best of 'em.
Princess: Sucks. That's my view. Now don't complain, I'm Australian,
and I'm not good with some American stuff, but I do believe
that this is a First Amendment right: freedom of speech. Now
as said before, I'm not good on American stuff so if it's
wrong, just email me and tell me. Don't call me every name
under the sun because I screwed up. And anyway, the name's
"PsyTom2000".
Koopa Troopa: The fact that Koopa Troopa is, unarguably, the BEST
racer in the WHOLE game, just gets me infuriated at
Nintendo for giving the BEST racer the series has EVER
had, the boot. They oughta be ashamed of themselves. Oh
well, I think Koopa is headed for the Gamecube in an all
new Mario Kart game.
Oh, and by the way, don't get angry at my ratings. I know people will
say, 'Oh, you said [insert racer here] was crap but he's good' or
maybe 'Hey you reckon [insert racer here] is good? He sucks!' In fact,
I've already gotten 1 email on it. A guy named Mike Groels sent me an
email criticising my ratings for DKjr and Koopa Troopa. He said,
'Everyone races with DKjr, and you think he's the worst' and 'Koopa is
slow, you need to slow down to corner, and hop and slide'. I changed
my rating for DKjr, still doesn't affect the fact that I don't like
him. I responded to the 'Koopa Komplaint' by doing... nothing!
According to me, Koopa Troopa is the best! Everyone is entitled to an
opinion, and that's my opinion. You want your opinion heard? Send your
own character reviews in and next version, I'll start a new section,
called 'The Readers Rate The Characters' so everyone's opinion is on
here.
By the way, I DON'T CARE ABOUT HATE MAIL! I'll do 2 things with it:
I'll either delete it; or I'll grab it, shine it up real nice, turn it
sideways, and STICK IT STRAIGHT UP YOUR (for censorship reasons, the
following obscenity could not be printed - Psy)!

6. CHARACTER LINE PREFERENCE TOP 10

This section has no popularity and the survival cord is hanging by a
thread so it is pretty much over unless people send in their
preferences and give it a lifeline. Anyway, there will be a new
Section 6, called 'The Readers Rate The Characters'. This, if it's in
the FAQ at all, will be Section 7. If this folds, it will be taken
over by 'The Characters And How They Rate', funny enough that my line,
the first shred of life for this section, started out in 'The
Characters And How They Rate'. Yes, it would be a painful homecoming.
So, if you can find it in your heart to save a dying section, send one

here. Get a mushroom and go over the dirt near the end and you'll cut
1 or 2 seconds off.

This one is also too easy. Anyone for a challenge go to Special Cup.
Yeah, anyway, the bumpy corner near the end is the only hazard. There
is a shortcut on this track, it was on the map but not noted here. How
to do it, you need a mushroom, then, when you get to the * part of the
track, there is a gap in the barrier, 'room through it and will cut 1
second off.
P.S. Use the 'Opponents can't turn' Game Genie code when the leaders
are on the straight in the middle, they can't turn so they go in
the water, let them go so they're banging into the barrier
outside the first straight, then take it off and they will be put
back on the track - at the start so they are last!

Okay, I admit it, I made a mistake. I put the turbos on the wrong side
on the map, there are actually 2 turbos on the left and 1 on the
right, not 1 on the left and 2 on the right. This, however, does not
change how easy this track is. Anyway, put a banana on the left hand
side of the turbo on the right hand side of that straight and some
other sorry kart will end up sliding on it. Make sure it isn't you.
P.S. The 'Opponents can't turn' Game Genie code can screw them bad if
you know how to use it.

*snore*... Huh? Oh sorry, I keep dozing off when I play this track,
and I take it that is why I have a bad record on this track because
this track is too easy to lose. Oh well, if I have to write a guide
for this track, then, well, I have to write a guide for this track.
So, all you have to do is go around the track. Easy, isn't it? Well,
there is a kind of a shortcut to make it much easier. If you can get a
mushroom, you can zoom over the dirt near the start. But I'll just get
something off my chest: There is absolutely NO way to get a feather on
this track. I 'spose Nintendo programmed that into, or rather, out of,
this part of the game 'cause with a feather, there could be some MAJOR
shortcut opportunities! Oh well, back to sleep...
P.S. Hang on, I can't sleep knowing I didn't tell you this. If you put
the 'Drive Anywhere' Game Genie code on, the computer opponents
will reach the part where you turbo-jump over the previous part
of the track, and they will just keep going around the loop!
Well, now I've told you that, now I can go back to sleep...

CHOCO ISLAND 1
This is, well, in a way hard, but in another, more accurate way, easy.
The reason it might seem hard is because it's the biggest challenge so
far. The reason it's easy is because it's only the 6th track out of 20
and therefore has to be easy. Really, all I have to say is, just stay
on the track, especially if you are Bowser or DKjr.
P.S. The fact that there are no shortcuts on this track contributes to
the fact that this track is boring.

GHOST VALLEY 2
Track 7 of 20, now the hard is starting to set in. Avoid the wall and
you'll probably be fine. There is a shortcut, you need a feather to
get it, you'll find it about five seconds in, on the 'inside' of that
corner with some items on it. There is a turbo at the end, but it's
hard to get 'cause it's on the inside of a hard corner.
P.S. Don't fall off.

This track isn't too hard but the moles or whatever the hell they are
can really piss you off. Get the mole off you by repeatedly jumping.
Also, there are some hard corners.

wouldn't like it.

BOWSER CASTLE 2
I skipped some things and made a mistake when I originally did this.
For one thing, yes, I believe it is possible to use a feather at the
end of the dead end and make it although I haven't been able to do it.
And, when you land on the track, there is a turbo there that I didn't
mention. Apart from that, there is a turbo at the end that I did
mention.
P.S. This is my favourite track, mainly because of the track on Mario
Kart Super Circuit, on the Gameboy Advance. I'll tell you why
when I get 15 emails on the MKSC references... well, actually, I
have received # emails on this topic so I only need # more.

Okay, what I want to do is complain about how I hate this track and
how it's too hard for the Flower Cup and they should have put it...
wait, this isn't the time for all that. Okay, the hairpin turn in the
middle of the track pisses me off, but, hey, that's just me. I
overlooked a shortcut in my rage, near the end there is a gap in the
barrier so you can mushroom through the gap. There is also a turbo at
the end that I forgot to point out.
P.S. Okay, here's where I complain. This track is way too hard for the
Flower Cup and it should be in the Special Cup. You could always
kick Koopa Beach 2 out of the Special Cup 'cause as I always say,
that should be in the Flower Cup!

KOOPA BEACH 1
In V1.0, I said nothing. But now, I'll tell you what's important. You
can travel the shallow water in the middle of the track, and you can
get an item on the way.
P.S. Did you know that this should be in the Mushroom Cup? But
seriously, there's a shortcut in this track similar to the
Vanilla Lake 2 shortcut:
At the start, turn a sharp left so you're driving just to the
right of the checkered starting stripe and you're driving at the
water. Hop just before you hit the water so you jump into the
water. Keep going forward until just before Lakitu comes, then go
left. It's hard to do but you know you've done it right when
Lakitu goes through the line, puts you down, leaves, then
immediately comes back with the 'Lap 2' sign.

This is easy and there's a shortcut too. At the start of a lap, if you
have a mushroom, you can go straight and mushroom through the gap in
the barrier. Also, don't forget to avoid the Piranha Plants.

VANILLA LAKE 1
This isn't too hard, the ice blocks that are hard to see are quite an
annoyance but you can avoid them if you're good enough. Stay away from
the pipes too.
P.S. Vanilla Lake 1 is actually harder than it sounds, but, as I said,
it isn't too hard.

BOWSER CASTLE 3
The ongoing tradition of Star Cup being like the 'Hard' difficulty
only takes effect here, but, it hits hard. It'll take a while to
actually come 1st on this track. Getting repeatedly knocked into the
lava by your opponents is a specialty. Well, anyway, just try and
avoid the Thwomps and stay on the track and you should be fine.

This is basically Vanilla Lake 1 with a shortcut:
At the start, turn a sharp left so you're driving just to the right of
the checkered starting stripe and you're driving at the water. Hop
just before you hit the water so you jump into the water. Keep going
forward until just before Lakitu comes, then go left. It's hard to do
but you know you've done it right when Lakitu goes through the line,
puts you down, leaves, then immediately comes back with the 'Lap 2'
sign.
P.S. This is just a bit easy for Special Cup.

Finally... the one track in the Special Cup that actually lives up to
the, as I call it, 'expert' rating of the Special Cup. This track is
'hard, damn hard' and it's hard to win without a Game Genie code. All
you can do if you DON'T have a Game Genie is, stay on the track. Or,
download an emulator with an 'in-built' Game Genie and play on your
PC.
P.S. Stay far away from the Thwomps as they are not your average
Thwomps. You hit 'em, you spin out.

Can everyone please send in Battle Mode Tactics for this Battle Mode
Tactics section so this Battle Mode Tactics section can get very big
and you, the reader, have so much info that you are UNBEATABLE! And
yes, you'll get credit for it.
EASY RED SHELL ATTACK
Okay, say you are in one lane and your opponent is in the next one.
You are both near the same end of the same barrier. Here's what you
would be thinking without this tactic:
GUY TRYING TO RUN AWAY - "Damn, I gotta turn around and scoot".
GUY WITH RED SHELL ----- "Damn, I'll have to keep chasing him".
And here's WITH the tactic:
GUY TRYING TO RUN AWAY - "Damn, I gotta turn around and scoot".
GUY WITH RED SHELL ----- "Aha! I can fire now 'cause it will fire in
a kind of circle, which will go AROUND the
end of the barrier and will then proceed to
knock the lights out of my opponent!"
Yep, there's your tactic. Use it wisely, and you'll never lose a game
(in Battle Course 1 at least).

16.TIPS AND TRICKS

You wanna send in some tips. Here's where they go.
BOOST START
At the start of any race, press and hold the B button exactly in the
middle of the first and second 'BEEP's and you will get a boost start.
Easy to do but don't stuff up. Do it early and you get a skid start;
do it late and you just do a normal start (sent in by Mike Groels).
LITTLE RIDER
At the character select screen, press Y & A at the same time to race
a little rider, as if you've been zapped by lightning.
ROTATE YOUR REPLAY
If you go perfectly in a time trial and you don't hit any obstacles
then when you go to Replay, you can move the camera with L & R.
EASY SPECIAL CUP (ONLY IN VS. AND TIME TRIAL)
When you go to the track select screen in VS. or Time Trial, and you
haven't unlocked Special Cup in 100cc yet, then you can still do VS.
and Time Trial Special Cup by pressing, in this order:
L R L R L L R R A.
Then Special Cup will appear and you will have access to Special Cup
in VS. and Time Trial.
SAVE YOUR GHOST
If you go perfectly in a time trial and you don't hit any obstacles
then you can save the ghost. On the screen with CHANGE COURSE, RETRY,
etc. hold L R & Y and then, while still holding L R & Y, press X. Your
ghost is now saved. The track that you saved the ghost for will appear
in yellow. To race against the ghost, hold L & R and press B on the
'Are you sure?' screen to go into the track and race against the
ghost. I think you can only save 1 ghost in the whole game, though.
COMPUTER GHOST
When choosing your character for a Time Trial session, press START on
Controller 2 and 'COM' will appear on Luigi. Then choose the 'COM'
character on Controller 2, then choose your character with Controller
1. Then choose the race and you will race against a computer ghost!
EXTRA LIFE IN MARIO GP
Win three races in the same position to earn 1 extra life.

This is where I just say some stuff. In V1.0, This was chock-full of
stuff that I have moved to their sections. But the three following
things don't have a section... yet. The MKSC references will go to the
tracks when I get enough request-mail. The one about the first guide
will end up on this section's replacement, 'Useless Stuff', which
places everything in a rut because that can't go on until this section
is six feet under. No decision on the one about the night-time screen
on MKSC though. I haven't decided whether to just kick it when someone
emails me saying they've done it, or to put it in 'Useless Stuff'. Or
maybe I'll do a hall of fame. I'll keep you updated.

WHAT I MEAN
MAPS SECTION: What this is about is you guys sending in maps. The
rules are - Anyone can send in maps. Anyone that sends
in a map gets their map on and receives automatic
recognition. All maps sent in will get in, REGARDLESS
of how many maps that track has. You can never have too
many maps or too much help.
