2.What is Super Castlevania 4?
______________________________

Super Castlevania 4 is a game released for the SNES in 1993(I think).  This
game stars Simon Belmont, the Belmont who has been in the most Castlevania
games so far.   Most people say this game is a remake of the original, but
since nothing in this game is the same as the the original Castlevania, I
will just say that Dracula has been revived again.

This game was a far advancement in the Castlevania Series.   For the first
time, you could whip in 8 directions, swing, and throw subweapons with one
button.   The graphics in this game are excellent, and the music rocks.

The coolest thing about beating a boss in this game is the little tune
(Simon's Theme) that plays when you beat a boss.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Controls
______________

Castlevania 4 uses the controls listed below.   I recommend making the X
button as the subweapon button since that will make things much easier.
Note: This is assuming you have default controls.

Button                    Function
------                    --------
Right                     Move Simon to the right
Left                      Move Simon to the left
Down                      Crouch
Down+Left or Right        Crawl
B                         Jump
Y                         Whip
Y+Up or Down              Whip up or down
Y+Upleft or Upright       Whip diagonnally upright or upleft
Y+Downleft or Downright   Whip diagonnally downright or downleft
R                         Throw subweapon

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
4.SubWeapons
________________

These are really important and are key to winning.   In order to use a Sub
Weapon, you must have one heart (with the exception of the clock).  Use R
to use a SubWeapon.

Cross-The best weapon to have with you at all times.   When you throw one of
these, it will spin forward until it hits the edge of the screen, then
     then return back.

Dagger-A very weak weapon.   Completely useless.

Holy Water-A bottle of Holy Water is thrown on the floor.   A flame will burn
where the bottle landed for a few seconds.   Good against slow or
          stationary enemies.

Axe-An axe is thrown up in an arc.   Tricky to get the timing right to hit
   enemies.

Stopwatch-Bad, weak, and heart consuming.   Don't use this in boss fights at
         all.

II stone-A rare stone with a II symbol on it.   It allows you to throw two
weapons without one leaving the screen yet.   Very useful.

III stone-A rarer stone with a III symbol on it.  It allows you to throw three
weapons without the other two leaving the screen yet.  Very useful.

Thorns-Upgrade for your whip.   Collect one, and your leather whip will
become a chain whip.   Collect another one, and your whip will become
      longer and more powerful.

Pot Roast-You mostly find these in walls or in candles.   They refill about
         3 units of health.

Turkey-You mostly find these in walls or in candles.   They refill about half
      of your health bar.

NOTE: I have beaten all these bosses (excluding Dracula) with no subweapons,
so I will rarely tell you which subweapon to use.

5.Boss Strategies-Outside the Castle
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
5A. Stage 1-Skeleton Knight
___________________________

Easy.   If you can't beat this guy then don't play the game at all.

-------
Attacks
-------

Fireball-The horse shoots a fireball.   You can easily jump out.   Keep
hitting the horse in the head until it dies.

Pounce-The skeleton will jump into the air, stop over you, and then stab down
with his lance.   Walk out of the way of it.

Stab-The skeleton will stab his knife forward repeatedly as he is walking.

Note:When the Skeleton has one more hit left, he'll pretend to explode, and
then come back together.   Don't be fooled.

5B. Stage 2-Medusa
__________________

The classic monster from ancient Greek(or Roman?) mythology of a woman with
snakes coming out of her head.   Staring into her will turn you into stone.
For some reason Simon doesn't seem to turned to stone when he looks at her.

-------
Attacks
-------

Snake-Medusa repeatedly throws snakes out of her head and onto the floor. Duck
down on the ground and keep whipping at the snakes, and Medusa to make
     short work of her.

5C. Stage 3-Twin Vipers
_______________________

Two serpents.  Not too much trouble here.

-------
Attacks
-------

Triple Shot-One of the Vipers will shoot out three fireballs that go forward,
down forward, and up forward at you.

FlameThrower-A dragon shoots out a downward flamethrower.   Its very short
            range and easy to avoid.

5Di. Stage 4-Puweyxil
_____________________

This is a rather annoying boss.   Whip him as much as possible.

-------
Attacks
-------

Tounge-His basic attack.  He'll jump out at you and lash out his tounge.
      Very tough to avoid.

Brain Shot-Three peices of the skull's brain will fly out.

Rock fall-Rocks will constantly fall in this fight.   Try to get in between
the falling ones.   You can hold out your whip to block these.

5Dii. Stage 4-Koranot
_____________________

You have to whip this guy alot.   He throws lots of rocks and gets faster and
smaller as you whip him.

-------
Attacks
-------

Rock fall-Rocks will fall in constantly.   Keep in between them to avoid
damage.   You will have to whip him while avoiding lots of these
rocks if you want to get rid of him fast.

Rock throw-When Koranot jumps, he's gonna throw a rock, so watch out.

Note: Every time you hit Koranot, he'll get smaller and smaller.  He'll also
throw rocks and move alot faster.  When he jumps, watch for the ceiling
so you can know where to stand to avoid them.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
6.Boss Strategies-Inside the Castle
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thought it was over?   The worst is yet to come!

6A. Stage 6-Dancing Ghosts
__________________________

This is possibly the dumbest boss I've ever seen.   Two people dacing around
the screen?  What is the video game industry coming to?

-------
Attacks
-------

Arrows-Two to three arrows are shot out.  They can be very hard to see since
they turn invisible alot.  But they move slow so you should be able to
      dodge these.

Sword-The ghosts draw their swords (???) and they go sideways across the
screen.   I usually duck or jump under this.

Best Strategy-You see the way the platforms in this fight are arranged?  To
avoid the ghosts, simply go about in a figure 8.   Start on the
platform furthest to the left, then wait for the ghosts to get
close, then jump to the top platform, then jump  all the way to
the right.   Repeat the process from the right side now.

6B.Stage 7-Sir Grakul
_____________________

-------
Attacks
-------

Axe throw-The knight will throw his huge axe across the screen and it will
return to him(similar to the axe knight).   Ether jump over or duck
         under it.

Flame waves-He takes his axe and slam it on the floor, causing fire to spread
across the ground.  It comes out from both sides of him, and even
goes up to the higher platforms.  Jump over the flames to be safe.

Sword-When about 75% of his energy is gone, the knight will pull out his sword
and try to slash you with it.   Stand on the higher platform, and jump
when he is about to swing down on you.

6C.Stage 8-The Monster
______________________

I don't know too much about the legend behind Frankenstien.   But this is the
EASIEST boss in the game.  Just stay on the left side of the screen and beat
the crap outta him.

-------
Attacks
-------

Pink Flask-The Monster throws various flasks at you.   The pink one has a
small flame come out on the floor.  If your standing on a platform
you shouldn't even worry about this.   You can hit the flask and
it will never have its affect.

Green Flask-You should really worry about this one.   When he throws it, it
bursts in mid air and flames will burst out of it and they will
fall to the floor.   Since it explodes in the air, you cannot
           block this move.

Grey Flask-When this hits the floor, another Monster is brought out. While
the copy is walking around, the real one will also walk around
not throwing anything.   Kill the fake one to end this process.
You can also block this flask.

6D.Stage 9-Zapf Bat
___________________
This is a very hard boss.   He has a high amount of health (three hits=1 unit
of health)and when he splits into three it gets really hard.

-------
Attacks
-------

Dive-Occasionally the bat will swoop down on you.   Move either left or right
    to avoid this.

Split-When only seven units of health are left, the bat will split into three
smaller bats.  They all drop little rocks directly under them, so don't
     stand under them.

Strategy-When fighting the big bat, stand directly under him and whip up.  The
pieces of him that fly out when you hit him can hurt you, so watch
        out for those.

6E.Stage 10-Mummy
_________________

We all know how mummies are made right?    Well, first, the Egyptians would
take some king or other nobleman, and remove his brains, fill his stomach with
flowers, then wrap him in bandages.   Now you have to fight one.

-------
Attacks
-------

Teleport-The Mummy will materialize away between attacks to either the main
platform or to the smaller bottom platform.

Bandages-The Mummy will shoot out bandages that move in a sine wave type of
motion.   Simple whip or hold out your whip to block them.

Fireballs-Fireballs will be shot out, and they will for some reason go backwards
in a boomerang type way.   You can either block the fireballs or just
         stay back.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.The Final Four
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Its not over yet!!!  These are the last four bosses in the game.   You will
have to fight them one after the other, so be careful.   If you have played
Castlevania Symphony of the Night, all four of these bosses will be very
familiar to you...

7A.Slogra
_________

This guy is ****ing hard.   He takes alot of hits and is very evil in the way
he hits you.

-------
Attacks
-------

Jump-Whenever you hit him, Slogra will leap into the air, and land on the spot
you were standing in.   Hit him, then move to the other side of the
screen.   When he lands, you cannot hit him while he's black, wait til he
    turns green.   Repeat.

Stab-Duck at all times.   After landing from his jump, he will stick out his
spear at you.    If you duck, you can avoid him.

Fireball-If you are too far from him(outside of the two small pillers), he
will shoot one of these.   You can duck under it, but becareful since
        the explosion can hit you.

Peck-After losing his spear, Slogra will now dive forward with his beak.  This
move is ****ing impossible to avoid, so hit him fast to keep him up in
    the air.

7B.Gaibon
_________

A big blue demon.   Very easy.

-------
Attacks
-------

Fireballs-Gaibon will throw some fireballs diagonally down every once in a
         while.   Easy to avoid.

Big Fireball-Gaibon will occasionally land on the floor and shoot some fire
balls forward, and some spikes will fall from the ceiling.  Stay
between the spikes and duck under the fireballs at the same time.

Power up-When half his energy is gone, he will fall to the ground and become
red.   Now he shoots faster, and more fireballs at once.

7C.Death
________

Death is Dracula's best friend.   Death is a skeleton who carries around a
large scythe and takes people's souls.   He also has the coolest entrance.

-------
Attacks
-------

Sickle-Death will shoot out little sickles at you.   To block these, hang the
whip will holding up.   You will block them all.   Whip up every once
in a while as he floats over you.

Throw Scythe-Death will stand on the right side of the screen, and throw his
big scythe spinning around the screen.   He also sucks you in,
and subweapons can't reach him.    I recommend standing to the
left of the platform and ducking to avoid everything.

Note-You CAN'T hit Death with a subweapon while he is trying to suck you in.

7D.Count Dracula
________________

The Lord of Wallachia and Count of Castle Dracul.   The legend is that some
guy liked dipping his bread in his enemies blood, then when he died, he made
a deal with the devil and become a vampire.   Now we know him as Count Dracula.

Key tip.   To make things easier for you, get the secret stash of weapons on
the invisible platform below when you first come in. *See Full Arsenal Trick
below*

-------
Attacks
-------

Teleport-Dracula will teleport on to different pillers every time.   Be sure
to throw three crosses at his head level to take the most damage.

Fireball-After teleporting in, Dracula will open his cape and throw out a
fireball.   If you try to jump over it, it will break into three
fireballs that shoot up.   If you whip it, it will break into three.
The best tactic is to whip it, then leave your whip hanging to block
        the fireballs.

Flying fireball-When you take some hits off his energy bar, Dracula will let
these crazy fireballs fly all over the screen.   If you whip
them, they will shoot all around them, then drop a chicken.

Twin fire pillers-Dracula will make two pillers of fire come up, and two slow
fires will follow you.   Hit them down, but becareful cuz
they will drop to the floor and burn for a second.

Lightning-When Dracula is down to his last bit of health, he'll go crazy. Now
you'll hear Simon's theme playing in the back, and Dracula will use
big bolts of lightning to attack you.    Be sure to watch the top
of the screen where the lightning will come down, then stay between
each bolt.   Jump and throw crosses until the Count is dead.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
8.Full Arsenal
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dracula is too tough?   Taking too long?   Use this little trick to make him
somewhat easier:

When you reach the famous Castle Keep Staircase, instead of climbing up the
stairs, just jump to the left.   Now STOP.   Yes, you are floating in the air.
Now, carefully jump all the way to the left.   Just when you think you are
ready to die, you land on another platform.   Now walk to the left wall, and
the screen will flash.   Now a bunch of stuff will fall on you.  You'll get
99 hearts, a full power whip, a cross, full health, and a III stone.
Now here's the hard part, getting back up.   Walk to the right and hold up.
You should start walking up invisible steps.   When you reach the top, hold
right and jump.   You should just make it back to the regular staircase.   Now
go kill Dracula!
