-VERSION HISTORY-
--------------------------------------------------------------

v0.63      Minor changes, fixed the blatantly obvious screwups in some
7/9/03   of the sentences, and moved all the 'Contact' info into it's own
section -- just to make it easier.

v0.70      Added "DMG" column to the modifier table. Added more modifiers and
7/11/03  special mantras.

v0.75      More table sorting.. Still have to do the same for the special
7/14/03  mantra table, but that'll come in a future update.

- s1:  About Mantra           -                   - [mnt_abt]-
--------------------------------------------------------------

Let's see, where to start...?
Mantra is the magic system in Treasure of the Rudra. Basically, what it does
is lets you input any letter of the English alphabet (a max of 12) and
create 'words', which become your magics.

This has some good points: You can make all sorts of different mantra, some
of which are INCREDIBLY powerful, useful, AND cheap; great for the start
of the game. Another one is that you can learn them from enemies, and use
them in future battles. The only bad thing, however... all these are shared
with everyone in your party, and thus there are NO unique skills.

Still, this is one of the most creative systems I've seen in an RPG to-date,
and it is quite a welcome addition to Treasure of the Rudra.

-------------------------------                   ------------
- s2: Mantra Basics           -                   - [mnt_bas]-
--------------------------------------------------------------

Here are the basic elements in Gideon's translation:

- Lef  : Healing
- Ig   : Flame
- Aqu  : Water (Aqua :p )
- Teo  : Wind
- Tou  : Lightning
- Soa  : Light
- Sere : Dark

Now, there's also two MORE elements, of which have no weakness against
anything else (as far as I can tell, if someone could confirm/deny this,
that'd be great!).

- Nihi : Void
- Pra  : Earth

Fire is weak vs. Water, but the inverse also holds true.
Wind is weak vs. Lightning, but yet again, the inverse also holds true.
Light is weak vs. Dark, but, again... the inverse is true.

And here's a weakness-resistance table, for those of you who need to
visualize this:

MANTRAS                  ELEMENT
Ig   <--> Aqu            Flame  <--> Water
Teo  <--> Tou            Wind   <--> Lightning
Soa  <--> Sere           Light  <--> Dark

Nihi <--> NONE           Nihi   <--> NONE
Pra  <--> NONE           Earth  <--> NONE
Lef  <--> NONE           Healing<--> NONE

- s3a: Mantra Modifiers       -                   - [mnt_mod]-
--------------------------------------------------------------

Now, let's get to the fun stuff -- Modifications!

These can be added onto the basic elements of the Mantra (Ig, Aqu, Teo, Tou,
Soa, Sere, Nihi, Pra, Lef; but they're in the last section, in more detail).
To increase the effectiveness (power), make them multitarget, or just to
screw around.

The table below contains the modifier ('~[suffix]' or '[prefix]~' format)
and a description of what it does to the mantra, with base MP and damage value.

Nihi and Pra, the two unlisted elements, however, are unusual in the fact
that some modifiers do not affect them (at all or correctly). These are
marked with an asterik (*). Test the marked ones with Pra and Nihi if you
wish... some of the results are kind of amusing.

Damages based off of a level 5 Surlent (casting on an enemy with no weakness).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- MODIFIER - AIM - DMG - MP - MISCELLANIOUS                              -
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
cont~       One   53    2
giga~ *     ???   -     -    Augments power.
hor~        One   88    4    ~tome easily outclasses this.
kaa~        One   126   4    +1 MP for 30 more dmg than ~tome.
ki~ *       One   119   6    Useful in combinations, not singly.
luc~        One   103   3    Decent for starting off.
mega~       ???   -     -    Augments power.
meta~       One   124   6
mor~ *      One   52    8
o~          All   55    6    Causes multitargetting. (not with LEF).
on~         One   81    3    Best 2-letter prefix damage-wise.
vu~         One   66    2    Best 2-letter prefix cost-wise.
you~ *      One   57    2
~bird *     One   275   12   TOU doesn't work with it.
~ga *       One   79    3    There's stronger modifiers... You decide.
~god        One   311   12   Good lord this is strong (not a pun).
~ius *      All   221   21
~lus        One   66    2
~mel        All   59    3    Don't bother -- it's outclassed.
~na         All   35    4    Can you say... useless?
~nareem *   All   -     12   Creates Elemental Barrier (50% damage).
~nas *      All   53    12   Don't bother with this either.
~nates *    All   110   9    Replacement for ~na, later on.
~reem *     One   -     9    Creates Elemental Barrier (50% damage).
~rex        One   144   5    Superb power for the tiny cost.
~teum       One   259   11   Very useful towards the end of RnH.
~tio        One   203   8    Doesn't combine well w/ other modifiers.
~tome       One   94    3

HINT: You can mix together two or more modifiers together to (sometimes) get
something more powerful than either is singly. They are listed in the next
section. You can even mix prefixes AND suffixes... how fun.

-------------------------------                   ------------
- s3b: Modifier Combinations  -                   - [mnt_com]-
--------------------------------------------------------------

Some of these may not work correctly with certain elements (namely pra and
nihi), but I do not have enough space to list which don't. You will need to
test these for yourself to make sure it works.

Also, beware of length with these, some elements will not work due to the sheer
length of the modifier combinations.

NOTE: There will only be 8 modifier combinations listed at any one time. These
will be the most useful ones that I have come across (or been told of).

These are all the English words and/or special Japanese words that still work
that have been gathered that are useful (or otherwise good) as Mantra.
If anyone finds any, email them to me and they will more
than likely be added; and you'll definately be credited if they are.

--------------------------------------------------------------

All stat-affecting spells (except Spirit, from what I've noticed),
only last 3 or 4 turns.. you need to re-cast them frequently.

Elemental barriers are supremely useful... too bad you can't block
Void and Earth spells with them.

"Kuri" is a good spell to use against people like the Train boss in
Sion's quest and the DesertRose in Surlent's.. it protects you from
some of their attacks. Beware, however, it DOES cause damage to you
to cast this on someone!

AIM  : Found on GameFAQs... check Zajin's user-info.

Email Guidelines!
 - Make sure "RnH" "Rudora no Hihou" "Treasure of the Rudra" or
something to that effect is in the subject. If it's not, the mail will
    most likely go ignored!
 - Don't flame. I'll really get on your case if you do.
 - If you need to be credited for something, email me, WITH PROOF of it.
A link to the topic in GameFAQs will suffice. (I DO check dates)
 - If there's any ERRORS in the Guide, please email me and point them out.
I especially need help with the mantra damage -- I may have used them
on enemies with weaknesses or resistances unknowingly.
