Okay, I finally found the time to do a full waza list.
I did the best I could on the translations using my
powers as a B student in Japanese. Some of them are pretty
liberal translations. There are still a lot of waza effects
which I'm in the dark about so bear with me. I've also
included a section with some comments on a few of the more
troublesome translations so anyone whose curious can read
that.

that, it's a weak attack.

Comments: a weak attack which I think might also have a chance of

Comments: attacks a portion of enemy's Max HP. Very effective on some
and ineffective on others. Some tough enemies with high HP
are very susceptible to this.

Comments: a good attack against undead and good for other enemies, too.

Comments: a decent attack that looks neat. May be effective
against certain fish-type enemies but I'm not sure.

the game. You'll need to use this to learn Headwind.

Comments: doesn't work on aerial enemies. Damages target and any
enemies directly behind. You'll have to use this to
learn Harvest Moon.

Comments: a powerful attack for early in the game. You can use it
to learn Bull Crash but it's not necessary to do so.

Effect: counter non-aerial attack
Comments: negates enemy's attack if successful. Useful against beasts
and humanoids which tend to attack physically a lot.

Effect: avoid enemy attack, steal weapon
Comments: works just like any other counter attack but if the user
has a free weapon slot they will have a chance of taking

for big damage.

Comments: Powered up version of Sweep Draw. You'll have to use
Sweep Draw to learn it. You'll also have to use Headwind
if you want to learn Chaotic Flowerfall.

Comments: just about as strong as Chaotic Flowerfall but a little
less expensive and a bit harder to learn. Use Ground Surge
to learn this.

waza that leads to a lot of the more powerful axe waza.

Comments: not that great. The attack bonus seems to fade slightly
with each attack you do. You could spend the whole battle
powering up but by the time you're ready to attack, the
battle would probably be over.

Comments: useful in the beginning of the game. Damage is kinda weak.

Comments: useful until you learn Pine Chop Dynamic.

Comments: seems to miss often but maybe that's just because it's
an axe waza. Good early game waza.

Comments: never get to use this one much. Seems to do about the

Comments: hits target and surrounding enemies. A good attack for
for any point in the game.

Comments: attacks all enemies. You'll need to use Tomahawk to learn
this and Sky Drive.

Effect: chance of instant kill
Comments: this is a handy waza to keep around. It's the only waza
that can instant kill more than one enemy.

Pine Chop Dynamic

Effect: anti-plant
Comments: You'll find yourself using this a lot in major battles
until you can learn Sky Drive. Does good damage and easy
to learn. This is a big step up from Accele Turn, Hyper
Hammer, and Big Chop so make sure any axe users learn at
least this.

Comments: Powered up version of Tomahawk. Can target enemies front
or back. Useful and powerful.

Comments: I think this may have an effect but I'm not sure what
it might be. You'll have to use Blade Roll to learn this.
It's hard to learn but doesn't seem to pack the punch
that you'd expect of an expensive axe waza.

Comments: not a strong attack but it can get cause sleep which
seems to work well on humanoids and beasts. Try it
out, you may be surprised that some of the more
powerful enemies can be put to sleep.

Effect: counter non-aerial attacks
Comments: seems to work just like all the other counter attacks.
Though it's probably a little more effective on undead
since it's a staff.

Comments: a normal attack with a little bit more pop. You'll
need to use this if you want to learn Turtle Shell Split.

Comments: seems to miss a lot. Does good damage for a 3 WP waza
though. You can use this to learn Deadly Gravity Wave
but it's not necessary.

Comments: nothing special here. May do a little bit more than
Hard Hit but then it costs a bit more.

Effect: anti-undead
Comments: it comes in handy in some of the early areas. Good for
those medium strength enemies you don't want to waste
WP on.

Effect: chance of stun
Comments: Damages and stuns all non-aerial enemies. Works best
if the user is faster than most enemies. Annoying when
enemies use it on you.

活殺重力波
Deadly Gravity Wave

Effect: lower target's speed
Comments: I think this may also do extra damage to aerial enemies.
Can't seem to remember this one very well.

削岩撃
Rock Breaker
WP 7
Effect: extra damage to enemies made of stone.
Comments: this does pretty good damage compared to the previous
staff waza. There aren't very many enemies in the game
made of stone though.

Effect: -
Comments: This attack damages all non-aerial enemies at the end of
the battle round. You'll need to use Earthquake to
learn it.

かめごうら割り
Turtle Shell Split

Effect: lower enemy defense power
Comments: it's not as powerful as some of the other weapon's best
waza but it is the most powerful staff waza not
counting Draw Sword Swallow Return. Plus, it lowers
the targets defense so each time you use it, it should
do more damage.

decrease to an enemy's speed but I'm not too sure.
Perhaps it does nothing. The damage it does is weak
but I guess it's excellent when compared to the
damage done by Feint, Imprison, and Mind Stare--
which is 0.

Comments: similar to Feint except it paralyzes an enemy.

Comments: this does instant kill on frogs. A good small sword
waza for early game.

Comments: small sword users will probably use this a lot until

Comments: a good waza that you can learn pretty early on from
Fat Robin. Fun to use on females.

Comments: a good waza for small swords. You'll probably use this
a lot since Final Letter is difficult to learn and
it does more damage to single enemies than Firecracker.

good damage and may even finish the battle early for you.

other techs like Double Dragon Wave and Triple
Supremacy.

but if you want to learn Beast Killer you'll need
to use this.

Comments: This waza doesn't cause confuse very often and
the damage is a bit less than Two-step Thrust.

Comments: a little bit stronger than Two-step Thrust.
You can use this to learn Spiral Charge but it's
not necessary.

Effect: chance of poison
Comments: I like this waza. It even poisons some of the
stronger enemies like Red Dragons. It can also
target enemies in the back rows.

Comments: the standard counter-attack for spear users.

Comments: this is one handy waza. For 5 WP it does pretty good
damage to all enemies. I almost always have somebody
ready to use this.

Comments: attacks target and any enemies behind it. A high-
medium level powered attack.

Beast Killer

Effect: ???
Comments: I think this does extra damage to beasts. You need
to use Aiming to learn this. It's power is about
medium.

Comments: a high-medium level attack to one enemy. You're
probably better off using Double Dragon Wave in
most situations.

Shooting Star

Effect: chance to paralyze
Comments: probably the best spear waza not counting Round Slicer.
It can target any enemy and may even paralyze them
if they survive. It's difficult to learn, though.

Comments: a high powered spear waza that's not too difficult to
learn. It's comparable to Shooting Star in strength but
can't target enemies in the back rows.

Comments: shoots arrows all over the place. Not very powerful
but that's to be expected of a 2 WP bow waza. You'll
need to use this to learn Million Dollar.

Comments: I suspect this does something but I'm not sure what.
The game description says something about causing the
enemy to lose thier composure. Perhaps the target will
miss more often? The damage isn't that great so you may
be better off using Id Break.

Comments: does mild damage and might confuse an enemy.

Comments: a bit more powerful than Id Break. Still, not very

Comments: a powered up version of Random Arrow. Though the
difference in strength isn't much.

to learn. Use Shadow Sew to learn this.

Comments: works like Lightning Pierce for the small sword. Use
it as much as you want because you can learn
Continuous Shot from it.

Comments: works like Snake Shot for the small sword causing
instant kill to frogs. Like most of the bow waza,
it's power is in it's use rather than attack strength.

Comments: fairly easy to learn and fairly powerful too. A good
bow waza until you learn Plasma Shot.

Comments: this waza is similar to Splitting Image in that
it's damage is somewhat randomized and increases
a lot with higher weapon skill. This is the bow waza
of choice for any major battle. Use Instant Arrow to
learn this.

Comments: a good solid bow waza. If you don't want to take the
time to learn Continuous Shot or Million Dollar, you
should at least get your bow user to learn this.

Comments: an excellent waza however you want to look at it. With
a fast character, this is usually all you need to end
a battle quickly.

Comments: Happens if you use Random Arrow when blind. Since
most helmets and suits protect from blind status and
few monsters can cause it, you'd really have to try to
get yourself blinded.

this to learn Evil Smash.

Comments: a counter-attack for martial arts users. Very dangerous
when enemies use this.

空気投げ
Air Throw

Effect: chance of blind/stun
Comments: not sure whether or not this works on aerial enemies.
It's only 1 WP so it's not surprising the damage it does
is weak.

Effect: chance of stun
Comments: this waza will sometimes stun the user as well. The
damage it does is a little less than Lightning Kick. It
seems to miss a lot but it's fun to watch.

Comments: a cheap waza that does fair damage for early in the
game. You may want to use Tankei instead because you
can learn some good waza from it.

Comments: your basic power punch. It's possible to learn
Dimensional Persona and Train Energy Fist from this
but it's not necessary.

Effect: chance of stun
Comments: yet another throw that stuns. You may be better off
using Lightning Kick instead of this one.

Comments: this does OK damage similar to Evil Smash. It looks
neat and instant kill is never a bad thing.

Comments: a high medium level powered attack. Kinda difficult to
learn.

Comments: the only martial arts waza that attacks all enemies.
Very useful and decent damage. Use it as much as you
want because it's the only way to learn Tiger Break.

Comments: I think this may stun but I don't use it enough to be
sure. Does damage similar in strength to Niagra Buster
but it seems to miss a lot more than I like. It's fun
to watch though.

Comments: this does extra damage to certain types of sea monsters
including the Water Abyss Guardian. It may also stun but
I'm not sure. It does pretty decent damage.

Comments: about equal in strength to Furious Dragonfire Fist but
a lot harder to learn. You'll need to use Train Energy
Fist if you want to learn this.

about like Golden Dragon Sword for the regular sword
or Chaotic Flowerfall for the big sword in strength.
Not too difficult to learn either. Looks brutal.

it does good damage but that's because it costs 11 WP.
I prefer Sky Drive instead. You'll need to use Tomahawk to

Sword Waza

亜空間斬り
X-Zone Chop: could be "Beyond Space Chop" but I thought all the
Final Fantasy fans would be able to relate to this.

分身剣
Splitting Image: "bunshin" type attacks appear a lot in video games
and anime. A person splits into many selves and
whatever. I'm quite proud of this translation since it
sort of has a built-in pun. Runner-up translations
included "Illusion Sword" and "Dead Ringer" (which,
also contains a pun if you see how it looks when used
in battle.)

五月雨斬り
Summer Shower: the first three characters mean "early summer
rain". It refers to a specific type of rain that
sometimes comes to areas of Japan in early summer.
It's characterized by small raindrops made visible
by the sunlight and the fact that it has a distinct
rhythm of sound due to the way it falls in layers.

Big Sword Waza
--------------

地走り
Ground Surge: you know how Bugs Bunny would travel underground
leaving behind a long trail of raised dirt? Well,
the kanji in this waza are meant to describe that
phenomenon when it's caused by an earthquake. Some
of the runner-up translations were "Earth Mover",
"Rotatiller", and "Gaia's Pulse".

地ずり残月
Harvest Moon: to be honest, this translation is only very loosely
based on the kanji. But wait till you hear the
literal translation: "Earth Slide Fading Moon". Now
doesn't mine sound a lot better? I could've called
it "Earth Slide Zantsuki" but how cool is that?
Not very.

乱れ雪月花
Chaotic Flowerfall: rather than being a name for the waza, the
Japanese in this waza describes what happens
when you use it. Its name is composed of
the kanji for "confusion" "snow" "moon"
and "flower". Now if you were Japanese and
someone showed you the name for this waza
you'd get an image in your mind of something
like "a confusing blizzard of flower petals
made to look like snow because of the
moonlight." I went with "Chaotic Flowerfall"
for the sake of brevity. I believe this is called
"Tres Flores" in SaGa Frontier and might be
referred to as "Beautiful Three" in the U.S.
translation of Legend of Mana.

Staff
------

居合い抜き
Unsheathe Cut: this is a based on a particular style of samurai
sword stroke where the samurai quickly draws out a
sword and makes a fast, fluid slice. The
translation isn't literal but it gets most of the
idea across.

抜刀つばめ返し
Draw-Slash-Return: this is a lot like "Unsheathe Cut" in that
it's the same style of sword stroke except
that after slicing, the sword is returned to
its sheath. My pathetic guess at a literal
translation would be "draw out/let loose the
sword that flutters like a swallow and then
returns." Folks, I apologize for that absurd
translation but that's the best I could muster.

Spear
------

無双三段
Triple Supremacy: the literal translation would be something
like "No Comparison Triple Step" which, just
doesn't sound quite right. So...

Bow
------

挑発射ち
Pot Shot: this is supposed to be a shot fired at the enemy in
order to taunt/challenge them so that they lose their
composure. "Challenger" would have worked but I just
thought "Pot Shot" was so darn clever. Though, now
that I think about it, "Hot Shot" isn't bad either.

心眼でたらめ矢
Inner-eye Random Arrow: have you ever seen one of those choppy-
saki movies where the master blind-
folds the student and tells him to
"See without seeing, Little One." Well,
that's what is meant by "inner-eye".

Martial Arts
------------

短剄
Tankei: I've no friggen' idea. The second kanji character is
supposed to mean "beheading" but is really out of date
to the point that some Japanese don't even recognize it.
(How many of you know what "victuals" or "cuckold" means?)
So I just opted for the romaji.

練気拳
Train Energy Fist: this is "train" as in practice. The user is
using the enemies to practice his or her
Energy Fist.

龍神烈火拳
Furious Dragonfire Fist: could also be "Flaming Fists of the
Furious Dragon God" or maybe "Furious
Flaming Fists of the Dragon God."

Misc.
------

七星剣
Seven Stars Sword: literally, should be "Big Dipper Sword" or the
"Ursa Major Sword" would work. But as you can
see, those sound really dumb.

妖刀龍光
Youtouryuukyo: my hat goes off to anyone who can come up with an
understandable translation for this.
