1)  Intro

Ciao! I decided to write this Walkthrough for Pitfall - The Mayan Adventure
simply because I have notice that on www.gamefaqs.com there were only two
FAQ/Walkthrough for this game, moreover they were uncompleted, or not so rich
in contents. I have also wrote a version in Italian language, because I am
Italian. For this reason, if you find errors, please correct me!

2)  The Legend of Pitfall

Many years ago there was a daring adventurer who traveled the world in search
of ancient legends and lost treasures. His journeys took him across the seven
seas and to the ends of the Earth. He ventured into vast, uncharted regions
filled with unthinkable dangers. As word of his exploits filtered back to
civilization, he soon became larger than life, a legend. This great explorer
was Pitfall Harry.
After many successful quests, Harry settled down to raise his son, Harry
Junior. Having inherited his father's love of the unknown, Harry Jr grew up to
become a hip 18 year old with a deep sense of adventure and a bit of an
attitude. He quickly learned the thrill of exploration and discovery and soon
experienced many exciting quests of his own.
Hearing of his son's thrilling escapades, Pitfall Harry realized how much he
longed for the life he once knew. So together the daring duo set off for the
jungles of Central America in search of the lost treasures of the Mayans.
But something went terribly wrong...

Pitfall Harry's Journal - Day 3 - The Mayan Adventure
"After days of traveling through the jungle, Harry Jr and I have finally
reached the hearth of the ancient Mayan Empire. It's been a long journey, but
the real danger lies ahead, for we are close to discovering the lost treasure
of Uaxactun. According to legend, the treasure is guarded by the spirit of an
ancient Mayan warrior, Zakelua: Lord of Evil. Thousands of years ago, Zakelua
attempted to conquer the Mayan lands so he could rule the Empire. After many
battles, he was finally defeated, never to be seen again. I have recorded my
research on Mayan culture and legend in the following pages. If something
should happen to me, it is my hope that Harry Jr take my personal log and use
it as a guide to continue our quest. I only hope that it will be enough help,
if ever it must be used..."

Welcome to the Jungle
Pitfall Harry has been taken captive by the dreaded warrior spirit Zakelua:
Lord of Evil. Armed with only a trusty sling and his father's journal, young
Harry Jr must now venture into the unknown to rescue his father, before it's
too late!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5)  Mayan Weapons

-Sling: Harry Jr begins his adventure armed with only his trusty Sling and a
few sling stones. The Sling can be used as a Whip to swat enemies at close
range. But the odds are already against you, so pick up as many sling stones as
you can find. You'll need them!

Pitfall Harry's Journal - Day 5

"-Sling Stones: stones that serve as ammunition for slings. Commonly found
throughout Mayan lands in sacks.

-Mayan Boomerang: sends a powerful blow to any enemy. Must remember to recover
this weapon after its thrown.

-Exploding Stone of Pacal: this sacred stone has magical properties. Said to
destroy almost all enemies in sight."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6)  Special Maneuvers

Harry Jr will have to get through one deadly situation after another to save
his father. This will often require some quick thinking and resourcefulness.
Here are a few special maneuvers that may provide a little help:

-Super Shot: every now and then, you may feel like hurling a sling stone with
all your might. Good news: you can! Just hold down Y and Harry Jr will wind up
his sling to fire off a Super Shot. This will do more damage than a standard
shot, but remember, waiting for the windup can cost you valuable time!

-Swinging on vines: press the B button to jump and grab the knot on the base of
a vine. Press the B button again to release from the vine.

-Crawling: press and hold Down on the Control Pad, press the B button to engage
in a crawl, press Left/Right on the Control Pad to make Harry Jr crawl in
either directions. Press Up on the Control Pad or the B button to stand.

-Climbing ropes: jump onto a rope, press Up/Down on the Control Pad to climb or
descend the rope. To jump off a rope, press and hold the Control Pad in the

-Crossing pegs and cords: jump towards the horizontal peg or cord to hook on to
it, press Left/Right on the Control Pad to move Harry Jr left or right. Press B
to release from the peg or cord.

-Riding ziplines: jump to grab the zipline. To release from the zipline, press
B or ride the zipline to its end.

-Springing off items: jump onto a web (or other item) and bounce into the air.

-Pulling levers: use the Control Pad to move Harry Jr to the left or right of
the lever, so he is facing it. Press Up on the Control Pad to pull the lever
down.

-Entering doors: move Harry Jr in front of a door and press Up on the Control
Pad to enter the door.

-Bungee-jumping: jump onto a bungee, press B again to release from the bungee
and fly into the air (the closer to the top of the bungee plant you are when
you release, the higher you will go). Use the Control Pad to control Harry Jr
while he is in the air.

-Drive the mine car: jump in the mine car, then press Left/Right on the Control
Pad to move it. To brake, press the Control Pad in the direction opposite to
the one you are moving.

-Runaway mine car ride (only in the Balankanche Mine): press Up/Down on the
Control Pad and press B simultaneously to make the skate car jump. You have no
brakes!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7)  Mayan Artifacts

Pitfall Harry's Journal - Day 7
"There are several artifacts that Harry Jr and I hope to find during our
journey. Many Mayans believed these ancient idols and relics were created and
sent to Earth by Itzamna, the Mayan God of Knowledge.

-Time Keeper: according to legend, this powerful artifact temporarily freezes
time after being touched.

-Mayan Chili Pepper: said to endow the beholder with superhuman strength,
causing temporary increase in running and jumping abilities.

-Sacred Heart: a spiritual beating heart that restores a portion of lost health
to its finder.

-Location Idol: used by Mayan travelers to mark their location. Holds magical
properties that point traveler in general direction of desired path. Allows
traveler to return to marked point after traveler is unable to continue his
journey.

-Golden Idol: rare Mayan artifact with the power to bestow its finder with a
second attempt at continuing journey.

-Treasure Pieces: it is reported that pieces of Mayan treasures (gold coins,
silver and gold bars, diamond rings) are hidden throughout the Empire.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8)  Mayan Foes

Pitfall Harry's Journal - Day 9
"There exists very little information on Mayan foes, for all who have witnessed
any evil doings have mysteriously disappeared. Therefore, I have only been able
to compile a partial record on enemies.

-Skeletons: at one time soldiers in Zakelua's army. Groups have been recently
spotted near Copan.

-Spirit of Chaac: were at one time followers of Chaac, the Mayan God of War and
Sacrifice. It is said that these spirits have a strong command of fire.

-Jaguar: this sleek, powerful animal was a favorite pet of Zakelua and served
as his personal bodyguard. Recent sightings include the nearby jungles.

-Hawk: served as messengers for Zakelua during wartime. Have been spotted in
Tikal and areas near water.

-Gargoyle: according to legend, many of the ancient Mayan ruins are guarded by
stone gargoyles that come to life when approached.

-Snakes: another favorite of Zakelua. This creature is common throughout Mayan
lands and can be very dangerous.

-Vapor Ghost: reportedly a product of Zakelua's sorcery, created to ward off
anyone who has sights on the lost treasure of Uaxactun.

There have also been sightings of Zakelua, though no one has been able to
document his appearance. And some believe that Zakelua himself, using ancient
Mayan sorcery, wields control over the creature that inhabit the Mayan Empire.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9)  The Lost Civilization of the Mayans

Pitfall Harry's Journal - Day 12
"The Mayan civilization flourished for nearly four thousand years throughout
what is now Mexico and Central America. Although many Mayan sites have been
discovered, little is known of their day-to-day activities. What is known is
that they built elaborate cities and temples without aid from the wheel, metal
tools or animals. Long has there been talk of ghosts and evil spirits roaming
through the ruined cities and forests of the lost Mayan Empire. It is this
civilization of mystery and magic that I long to explore."

9a) Mayan Lands

Pitfall Harry's Journal - Day 13
"Harry Jr and I have traveled for days in search of the lost treasure. Although
it's been a long and tough expedition, it is far from over. The road ahead is
full of danger.

-Ceiba Jungle: an ancient and mysterious place uninhabited since the 1400s.
Danger lurks from all around on this maze-like path. Should be able to use
surrounding elements to navigate.

-Xibalba Falls: named after the demons believed to exist throughout the Mayan
civilization. Only the skillful can travel the dangerous path without
plummeting into the raging water below. Must be careful!

-Tazamul Mines: lost for centuries, this series of treacherous caverns is
believed to be inhabited by deadly creatures and filled with hazardous
barriers. Could possibly use abandoned mine car as transportation.

-Lost City of Copan: located in the hearth of the ancient Mayan Empire, this
2000 year old, decaying exterior is loaded with deadly traps and even deadlier
enemies.

-Copan Temple: all who have entered this mysterious labyrinth have never
returned."

Pitfall Harry's Journal - Day 14
"Should Harry Jr and I actually survive the journey through the known Mayan
territory, we will need all remaining luck to continue the expedition. Ahead
lies a long road...

Lakamul Rain Forest
Yaxchilan Lagoon
Balankanche Mine
Tikal Ruins
Temple of Tikal"

9b) Bonus Worlds

Hidden throughout the game are bonus worlds that could yield you great rewards,
if you are skilled enough.

-Loltun Secret Vault: you will enter a room with three levers on a wall, Y, X
and A. Directly above each lever is a light that will flash in random order,
creating a pattern. Repeat this pattern by pressing Y, X or A on your
controller. If you successfully repeat all the patterns, the vault will open
and you will be rewarded!

-A Trip Back: hidden somewhere in the game is a magical time warp created by
the evil Zakelua. This warp will transport Harry Jr back to a primitive time...
a time which may bring back a few memories. The rules are simple: you have 20
minutes to collect all the goodies (or else). Here's a hint: watch out for the
scorpions!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10) Strategy Tips

-Collect as many Treasure Pieces as you can. Every 50 points earns you a
Continue.

-Use the Super Shot to help defeat deadly enemies or blast through nasty web
blockades.

-Try to be downhill from your enemies when fighting.

-Be sure to use Mayan Artifacts and Mayan Weapons wisely. These Mayan goods
only give you a limited amount of time and/or uses.

-Remember to grab the Mayan Boomerang after each use or it will disappear.

-Try using abandoned mine cars or other items as platforms.

-You can do more than just stand on top of tree stumps.

-Don't be afraid to venture around each world, you may find hidden surprises.

-Keep moving while over jumping crocodiles.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

11) Walkthrough

This walkthrough will give you instructions on how to complete the game 100%,
i.e., not only I will guide you through 10 levels to reach the final clash with
Zakelua, but I'll tell you how to find the letters composing the word PITFALL,
to unlock the final scene.
After pressing Start on the main Menu you will watch an introductory scene.
You see Harry Jr enter the legendary Temple of Uaxactun and a Golden Idol get
out of a pedestal. From the door you can see the shadow of Harry Jr's father,
then you can hear very heavy footsteps and Pitfall Harry is kidnapped by a
mysterious hand. Harry Jr runs out of the Temple to try to save his father...

11a) Ceiba Jungle

Go left and take the Bag with the Stones. Then go to the right, you will be
attacked by a Snake. Jump across the first pit (or wait it to disappear) and
you will be attacked by another Snake. Jump across another pit (grab the
Boomerang) and you'll be attacked by a third Snake. Go through the tunnel, jump
across another hole and dodge the Warthog. Run to the right until you find a
Bag, then take the road that goes to the upper left (jump and grab the Sacred
Heart). Jump on the first branch to the left and continue in this direction on
the long branch with 2 Monkeys. Jump down to pick up the Exploding Stones and
redo the path to climb up to the point where you jumped down. Climb the vine
and jump on the branch to the left with other 2 Monkeys (grab the Heart).
Return to the vine and climb on the branch, touch the Location Idol and hold on
the vine swinging, then jump on a branch with a Snake around. Defeat it, climb
the vine and go down (grab the Coin). Head to left, you'll see a cobweb and a
Monkey, kill it and jump on the cobweb, holding on to another vine with a Snake
around. Kill it, jump on the branch and pick up the Coin. On the left, kill the
Snake and climb the vine. Kill the Monkey on the vine to the left and jump
hanging to the vine (grab the Heart). Back on the vine to the right, go down to
the branch below and pick up Coin and Boomerang. Go down again and touch the
Location Idol, then kill the Monkey. Go left, kill another Monkey, pick up the
Bag and jump on the web flying to left (and trying to grab Ring and Heart,
otherwise you can pick them up later). Kill the 2 Monkeys. Jump on a sprig on
the left and onto the bungee-flower to bungee-jumping. Get the Bag on the
branch and also Coins. Then repeat the jump and try to hang on to the higher
flower. Get the Silver Bar on the branch, then bungee-jump on a branch even
higher, where there is a Location Idol. Touch it and then take the Exploding
Stones on the left branch, but watch out for the spines fired by the plant at
the top. Then jump on a sprig to the right of the Location Idol (be careful
because it will break as soon as you jump on it, therefore you cannot stop on
it) and then on the vine to the right. Kill a Monkey on a vine further to the
right and jump on it, and yet on the other vine. From this, jump on the
swinging vine, then on the other and then on the branch with the Location Idol
(yet be careful to the spines of the plant). Ride the zipline. You will come to
a Location Idol, kill the Snake and grab the Bag. Jump to the left, being
careful of the thorns on the branch, and grab the Heart and the Bar. Jump down
to the right, towards the cobweb. Back on the branch with the Location Idol,
and from there jump on the cobweb at right, then hang to the vine in the top
right. Climb it, jump on a branch to the left, then to the right and grab the
Heart. Jump on a swinging vine to the left, then on a motionless vine and kill
the Snake. Jump to the left and grab a Golden Idol. Back to the zipline and
jump into the chamber of the tree. Grab the Bag, the Exploding Stones, jump on
the cobweb, bungee-jump and climb on the sprigs to the right and the left
(break as soon as you jump on them). Reach the chamber at the top and go inside
it. You will fall at the base of the tree and you will face the first Boss of
the game, a Jaguar. Begin to throw Sling Stones with the Sling. The Jaguar will
attack running and jumping towards you, moving from right to left and
vice versa. Try to dodge it jumping and continue to throw Sling Stones. If you
prefer, you can also use the Exploding Stones. Once defeated, the Jaguar will
fade and you can enter the tunnel to the left to exit the first level!

11b) Xibalba Falls

Get the Bag to your right, then climb on the rocks and get the Coin. From
there, jump on the platforms in the middle of the waterfall, kill the Monkey
hanging to the vine, go down on the big rock, kill another Monkey and grab the
Heart. Get a running start and jump to the right, bouncing on a spur of rock
below and jump to the left, trying to catch a Golden Idol in the air. Land on a
small platform below the previous one, with a bungee-flower to its left end.
Still on the left there is a small outcrop of rock with a Coin, grab it and
bungee-jump on the big rock at the top. Climb the vine to the branch and then
jump on the small platforms in the middle of the waterfall to reach a rockwall
with a Giant Mosquito and a Monkey. Kill them and jump right onto a platform
with a Golden Idol. From there, drop down on the branch with the vine and jump
right on a platform with a Mosquito and a Snake. Kill them and bungee-jump to
another flower slightly to the left of the previous one, to reach a higher
platform. Kill 2 Monkeys and a Snake, grab a Bag and a Silver Bar and ride the
zipline. At its end, touch the Location Idol, go down and kill a Mosquito, go
down again and grab the Time Keeper. Go up until you reach a horizontal cord,
hold to it and move to the right (beware of the Mosquito). Jump on a small
platform, bungee-jump towards the rockwall to the right, to grab a Golden Idol
and Exploding Stones. Jump down and ride the zipline as before. Repeat the path
to the flower, but this time bungee-jump vertically on some very small
platforms above. Go up fast on them because they shatter under your feet and
reach a platform on the left with 2 Monkeys. Grab the Bag, climb the vine and
grab the Heart. Get on the branch and try to pick up the Ring with a wall-jump
(jump to the rockwall, then press B again and Up on the Control Pad at the same
time). Jump and ride the zipline to get to the rockwall on the right. Kill a
Mosquito and a Monkey, grab the Bar and fall in the Secret Cave. You'll find
yourself on a rockwall. To the left pick up a Bag and a Heart. Then jump on
small outcropping rocks in the middle of the waterfall and reach the Location
Idol. Go to the left, grab the Coin and climb the vine. Jump to right to grab
the Boomerang, kill the Monkey and pick up the Heart (be careful, you'll slip
to the left, hold to the vine and go up again). Jump to right on the spurs of
rock in the middle of the waterfall, go down to the right, kill 2 Monkeys, grab
the Bag and the Exploding Stones on the rockwall to the right. Back to the
spurs of rock in the middle of the waterfall and touch the Location Idol.
Continue on the rockwall to the left, kill the 2 Mosquitoes, bungee-jump to the
top (beware of 2 Hawks) and touch the Location Idol. Bungee-jump from the
flower to the right end of the rock and get to the wooden bridge to the top
(beware of many Hawks). Pick up the Chili Pepper, the Bags and the Hearts
continuing to the right to exit the level!

11c) Tazamul Mines

Go left and down the rope. Jump just below the track to find a secret corridor
which leads to a Golden Idol. Jump down to the track below and kill a Bat to
grab a Heart. Return to the rope and jump down on the cobweb to get a Ring.
Climb the rope to get back to the point where you started the level. Move the
mine car to the right and stop it to reach a dead track, where there is a
Boomerang. So go back to the bottom track, go to the right and jump over the
gap. Kill 2 Bats, throw a Sling Stone to the barrel to blow it up and go into
the Secret Cave. Here you'll find the Exploding Stones, a Heart, 2 bags and
above all the letter P!!! Return to where you entered. Kill 2 Bats (again),
climb the rope to reach the top track. Touch the Location Idol but avoid to get
on the mine car, it is not necessary. Continue to the right and slightly after,
downhill, jump to climb the rope and jump on the dead track to the left to grab
a Bag and a Bar. Then jump to the right on another dead track that leads to a
hidden Heart and a Golden Idol. Go down on the main track that you were
following before, until its end. Then jump down to the right and touch the
Location Idol, but watch out for Rats. Continue to the right, blow up the
barrel and enters the vortex that leads to the first Bonus World, the Secret
Loltun Vault! Here, try to repeat the pattern that is shown to you. You will
receive intermediate prizes such as Coins, Bars and other things, while if you
complete all the patterns you will receive a Golden Idol. If you fail or take
too long, a weight will drop on you and the minigame (this is actually) will
end. You'll find yourself in the mine in the point where you could reach the
Loltun Vault. Climb the rope and grab the Time Keeper to the right. Go left,
climb the first rope, touch the Location Idol, go down the rope, go left where
the track dies, jump and climb the rope to grab a Gold Bar and Exploding
Stones, then go back on the track to the right. Climb the rope and go to the
right. Reach the mine car and move it under a rope, so that you can climb it.
So go up and right to kill a Bat and grab the Bag. Go left, pick up another Bag
and a Heart and then jump on the platform below. Continue to left, reach the
Coin and, at the branch, take the top rail and enter the tunnel. Continue until
you get to a rope, climb it and jump to left to grab a Ring. Jump left again to
reach a Location Idol and continue. Break through the cobweb and enter the
tunnel. When you came out, jump the gap and to the left you will find a Heart
(beware of Bats). Crouch and crawl to follow the track and pick up 2 Silver
Bars, a Boomerang and a Heart. Return to the right and reach the rope suspended
on the small central section of track. Climb the rope and follow the higher
track. You'll find a mine car, use it until you will dash against a wooden
barrier. Climb the rope nearby. On a rock on the left there is a Coin. Go back
on the rope and jump to the right from a rope to the other to get on a raised
track and a platform with a Bag and a Golden Idol. Return to the first rope on
the left, climb it and jump to the left where there is a Location Idol. Jump
left again to pick up a Heart and Exploding Stones. Still on the left, pull
down a lever on the wall, go to the right and you will fall on a track below
(the lever opens a trap door). Go to the left avoiding the mine cars that move
against you very fast. Jump inside the tunnel higher than that mine cars come
out, to exit the level!

11d) Lost City of Copan

Go right, grab the Bag and jump on the tongue of the statue on the wall. Watch
out for the Snake on the top ledge and jump again on the tongue to reach small
platforms and get to the top floor (there is a Heart, grab it). Here watch out
for a Snake but especially for a Gargoyle. Grab the Bag to the left and jump to
land on a ledge with a door and a white Scorpion. Enter the door and you'll
find yourself in a secret room with another Scorpion, a Gold Bar, Exploding
Stones and above all the letter I!!! Jump behind the cracked wall to the left,
where there is a spring hidden and bounces behind the wall on the top right to
find a hidden corridor that leads to the second World Bonus, the time warp! In
practice, you can play the first version of Pitfall for the Atari 2600. To say
the truth, this minigame is pretty boring, and there are almost no hidden
treasures. The minigame ends with the stipulated period of 20 minutes or if you
spend the 3 continues available, then you will reappear at the point where you
had found the letter. But that's not all, there are still secrets in this area.
Returns to the point of access to the World Bonus, but do not enter the vortex.
Crouch and crawl under the vortex to cross it. Then head to right, jump to the
left and continue along the corridors hidden behind the wall that take you
higher and higher. It's a bit difficult to explain the movements to do since I
do not see anything, however, continue until you see a hole into the wall with
2 Exploding Stones and a Golden Idol. You have to try to get in a corner in the
bottom right of the hole, where there is a hidden spring that allows you to
achieve the much desired objects. Then come back and leave this secret area.
Go down the ledge with the white Scorpion and head to the right, repeating the
path to the Gargoyle. This time go to the right (watch out for Snakes). After
the column is a shattered statue. Jump on the roof of the house on the
background and watch out for a Skeleton. Jump to right on the second ledge (be
careful to a Hawk), crouch and crawl in a small tunnel which leads to a Bag, a
Ring and a Heart. Go back, but about halfway through the tunnel stand up to
grab a Chili Pepper, then go out and jump in the upper left to hold on to the
hooks on the roof, exceeds the point where before there was the Skeleton, the
two amphorae and continue until you find 3 Golden Idols. Back to the amphorae
and jump to the right on the first ledge where there is a hole in the floor.
Jump in and you will fall in a long pipe (when you land watch out for Rats). Go
right and jump on the moving platforms in the wall to climb. Then climb the
rope and through the hole in the ceiling. On the left there is a Silver Bar and
on the right a Skeleton. Kill it and enter the door. Just out touch the
Location Idol and pay attention to the Gargoyle. Go to the left and hold on to
the hooks. Stay behind a large rock in the shape of human head and drop (there
is a Chili Pepper hidden). Hold back the hooks (be careful to another
Gargoyle), go to where the pavement ends and jump left to achieve a Golden
Idol. Then jump down to pick up a Ring and fall on a lower floor where there
are a Gold Bar and 3 Coins (and many Bats and Rats). Then go out to the right
where there are 2 Skulls, a Snake and a Skeleton. Apart from the latest there
is a rope, climb to grab a Boomerang and press the switch. Return to the Snake,
stun it but do not kill it, you can use it as rope and climb. Go to the left
through the door and watch out for the Gargoyle. Beyond a wall with a small
window there is a Snake. Kill it and climb the rope to the top (be careful to
a Hawk). Go left to find a Heart and a Golden Idol on the roof. Then go to the
right of the rope from which you have gone up, grab the Bag, stun the Snake and
climb. Then jump down into the void, defeat the Skull, crouch and crawl through
an opening in the wall to the right. Go up on moving platforms, defeat another
Skull, go right, go down and touch the Location Idol. Go down again and climb
the moving platforms, then the 3 tongues (grab a Ring on the left if you want)
and ride the zipline to its end. On the left, beyond a Gargoyle, there are some
Bags if you need them. Go back to the right, pick up the Time Keeper and jump
down behind the wall on the right. Touch the Location Idol, defeat the
Skeleton, jump to the left and grab the Boomerang. Press the switch, jump over
the spines and go through the door on the right. Grab the Exploding Stones,
defeat the Skeleton, grab the Heart and jump on the tongue to reach some fixed
platforms high on the wall. Continue to rise, pick up the Chili Pepper, jump
on the higher floor where there is the Snake and climb the rope. Grab the
Boomerang, climb to the roof, go to the left and jump down to start the battle
with the Bosses, in fact there are 2 Jaguars this time. However, if you've done
in a hurry and the effect of Chili Pepper is not yet gone, you may land beyond
the second Jaguar and then jump on the top ledge, to exit the level without
fighting the Jaguars! If the effect of Chili Pepper has already vanished,
jumping you will arrive in the middle of the statues of the 2 Jaguars and you
will fight inevitably. The statue to the right come to life again and the
Jaguar will start to attack you just like the Jaguar in the first level. After
a while even the left statue come to life again and also this Jaguar will
attack you, while the first rise in the upper left ledge and it will be
standing there in the meantime the other attacks you. For a while the 2 Jaguars
will take turns to attack, as in wrestling happens. Try to stay in the center
of the arena while fighting, but be careful when a Jaguar jumps off the ledge
to exchange with the another. Towards the end of the battle the 2 Jaguars will
begin to attack together. You can defeat them as you did with the Jaguar in the
first level, throwing Sling Stones, but it's really hard, you should use the
Exploding Stones. After defeating them, a rope will drop allowing you to reach
the exit from the level!

11e) Copan Temple

Under the stairs there is a Bag. Break only the first jar, which contains a
Heart (the second contains Rats). Fight a Warrior with a bow, then reach some
fixed platforms on the wall and climb being careful to fire jets. The last
platform leading to the upper floor crumbles as soon as you jump on it, so
hurry. Go right, jump on the cobweb and beyond the void. Pull the lever on the
wall and back to the stairs to the left (the door is open). Face the Warrior,
then grab the Heart, the Bar, the Ring and the Boomerang. Return to the lever
and go over, kill the Snake and break only the first jar hanging from the
ceiling, then enter the door. In the new room touch the Location Idol, jump
over the pit, fight the Spirit of Chaac, jump over other pits and climb the
fixed platforms to the wall, always being careful to fire jets. Go to your
left, going up, until you see a jar. Break it to release a Golden Idol. It will
probably fall down, then go to pick it up and redo the path to where you saw
the jar. From there continue to the right holding on to pegs to arrive at a
door (watch out for the fire jets and a Bat, grab the Heart). Enter the door
and you will exit in the top right. Touch the Location Idol (beware of Bats),
grab the Bar and go down the rope. Jump to left on the floor below to pull down
the lever. Get down on the floor and go right, avoiding the fireball. Go up the
stairs and climb to the top floor, with a rope hidden behind the pillar, to
pull down another lever. Go down, passes beyond the same fireball and you'll
see that on the floor a trapdoor will open. Jump down and head right to find
the letter T!!! Jump on a cobweb and on the right faces a Warrior. Jump on the
cobweb in the corner and fly in the upper left (grab the Heart). Touch the
Location Idol, break the cobweb blocking the door and go inside. In the new
room, break the jars for grabbing a Heart, a Ring and a Bag (do not break the
upper left jar because it explodes). Return to the previous room, holding to
the pegs (be careful of fire jets) and reach the rope. Come down and grab a
Heart and a Ring if you can. Lands on the platform and passes behind the
pillar. Jump on the rope (grab the Boomerang), up and down the stairs to the
right. Fight one Spirit, jump on the cobweb to get to fixed platform on the
wall (watch out for the fire jets and a Bat). On the left break the cobweb, go
through the door and the vortex to enter the third World Bonus, another Secret
Loltun Vault! The minigame is carried out exactly as first, except for the fact
that the pattern is longer this time. Back from the Loltun Vault, go to the
stairs, go down the rope and lands on the floor below (there is a jar hanging
from the ceiling, break it to get a Golden Idol). Come down and faces a Spirit
(grab the Idol). Pick up Exploding Stones, then go to the left, paying
attention to fire balls and Snakes. Reach the stairs and down the rope. Grab
the Heart and defeat a Spirit. Crawl to go behind the wall and go always right,
until you reach a Location Idol. Grab the Heart over the cobweb, then jump on
it to reach the upper floor. Here bounces from one web to another until you
reach a small platform at the top right. Continue to the right and then go down
through the holes in the floor (be careful to Bats). Go to right (be careful of
the spines), reach the rope, climb it and bounce on the cobweb to reach another
rope. Climb and jump to the right (watch out for Bats and spines... I know, I
sound like a broken record) and enter the hole. Go to right and pay attention
to the Warriors with the spear. Between the two there is a hole, jump down and
when you land and enter the door. You'll come out in the upper left. Pull down
the lever and jump down to the right. Beyond the second Warrior a trapdoor will
open. Jump down and when you land enter the door. In this room, defeat a Spirit
(don't fall into the pool) and go into the hole behind him. Kill the Snakes and
enter the door on the left. Here pull down the lever and jump down to the left.
Before the first Warrior a trapdoor will open. Jump down, break the jar to get
a Golden Idol, touch the Location Idol, go down and pull the lever down (pay
attention to the Bat but above all the fire jet). Go left towards the stairs
but be careful, because as soon as you go out the other side there is a stone
wheel that rolls from left to right and vice versa. Wait on stairs and jump
over it as it approaches. Try to grab the Golden Idol and the go up the stairs
to exit the level!

11f) Lakamul Rain Forest

Go to the left and hang to the swinging vine. Watch out for the spines fired by
the plant. Get on the broken log and stun the Snake, or charge a jump to be
thrown on the vine (crouch on the log by pressing Down on the Control Pad).
From the vine, to the left there are a Monkey and a Bag, then jump right on a
branch, on 2 swinging vines and then on a fixed one. Grab the Coin you see and
then jump down. As soon as you land touch the Location Idol and run to the left
to avoid being hit by the Warthog (pay attention to the pool). Pick up the
Heart, kill the Warthog and go to the right. Arrive at a pool with a Snake
above, stun it and climb on the branch. Kill the Monkey on the left, bounce on
the cobweb flying to the right to get on a branch with another Monkey. Enter
the log and come out just below. Grab the Bag, jump to the right on a twig that
breaks as soon as you jump on it and again jumps right on a branch with a
Heart. Stay behind the log and jump to reach the upper branches. There is a
Boomerang to the left, jump again left on a twig that breaks down and left
again for a Golden Idol. Go back to where there was the Boomerang and go to the
right, to ride a zipline. Reach its end, stun the Snake, jump on the vine and
climb on the branch. Behind the log there is a hidden vine, climb it and then
jump on the branch to the left where there are a Monkey, a Snake and beyond the
letter F!!! Return to the lowest branch and jump to another branch to the
right, where there is a Monkey. Go through the log, kill the Snake and slide to
the ground. Run immediately to the right to escape a Warthog and jump on a
broken log, for being thrown on a branch at the top left and grab 2 Bags. Back
on the broken log to be thrown on a vine with a snake, then ride the zipline
and complete the level!

11g) Yaxchilan Lagoon

Ride the zipline and land on a ledge. Go left, climb the vine and at your left
you will see a Heart on a stone in the middle of the lagoon. Grab it if you
need it and return to the vine. Climb to the branch, then kill the Mosquito.
Pick up the Time Keeper and continue to the right. Climb the rockwall, go to
the right and grab the Exploding stones. Jump on the rocks further to the right
and grab the Golden Idol. Jump down to pick up a Silver Bar then climb the vine
and ride the zipline until the end. Touch the Location Idol, kill the Hawk and
jump on the head of the Crocodile. This will begin to swim toward right but
after a while it will stop under a vine, so climb to it before the Crocodile
dive underwater. Climb the vine, paying attention to a Hawk and a Mosquito,
grab the Heart to the left, then jump to the right. Kill 2 Mosquitoes and climb
to the vine, go down and cross the horizontal cord paying attention to the
Crocodiles that jump out of water and want to eat you. Arrive on the platform,
jump on the stone right in the middle of the lagoon and still on the platform,
where there is a bungee-flower. Bungee-jump to the top left and cross another
horizontal cord, at the end of which there are Exploding Stones (watch out for
2 Hawks). So drop down on the small platform of rock on which there is a bar
(be careful, if you miss it you will fall where before there were Crocodiles).
So back to the flower, but this time bungee-jump to the top right and cross
another cord (beware to 2 Mosquitoes). You will drop in the bottom right on a
rockwall with a Monkey. Go down the rockwall and to the bottom left, in the
middle of the lagoon, there is a stone with a Heart on it. Then continue to the
right, jump on the rocks and then on the Crocodiles, the third of which will
swim to the right allowing you to reach the Location Idol. From here jump to
the left on the stone in the lagoon and then climb the vine. Jump onto the rock
platform where there is a Monkey and a Bag, kill the other Monkey on the vine
and climb it. To the left you will see a Chili Pepper, grab it and then jump
to the right for a Heart. Continue to the branch, jump and holding to an
horizontal cord in the top right. Cross it (there are some Hawks), and arrive
to a vine. Climb it and jump right behind the rock. Cross the wooden bridge
(there are many Hawks), go down on the rockwall where there is the Boomerang
and even more under you will see the exit of the level! Alternatively, from the
last Location Idol, you can jump on some rocks in the lagoon and reach the exit
from the level from below (there are some Mosquitoes and a Heart).

11h) Runaway Mine Car

In automatic mode, Harry Jr goes to the right, he jumps on a mine car and goes
down to left. You'll find yourself on 3 tracks superimposed and only now you
can resume control of Harry Jr. The mine car has no brakes, so you can just
jump from one track to another. To the left of the screen there are 3 traffic
lights in correspondence of each rail. You can go only on tracks whose traffic
light is green, so if you're driving along the track that has lights on red,
change track. After a while Ghosts begin to appear. They don't damage you if
they hit you, but they make you lose your balance and you are not able to
change track. Towards the end of the path, there will be only one track with
the traffic light on green, the middle one, which leads you to the exit of the
level!

11i) Tikal Ruins

Go to the right and watch out for Snakes, jump on the tongue and hold to hooks.
Move to your left, grab the Heart and defeat the Skeleton. Jump on the tongue
and get to the second floor to the right. Watch out for the Gargoyle, defeat
it, pick up the Gold Bar and go down through the hole in the floor. Grab the
Silver Bar and defeat the Skeleton. Go right, jump on the small platform fixed
on the wall to go upstairs through the hole in the ceiling. Jump to grab the
Bag, be careful to Snakes and continue to the right. Jump down, run away from
the Skeleton and go right again. Go down the hallway with quicksand (beware of
the Hawks) and go down through the hole. Continue to the left defeating the
Skeleton, jump down and touch the Location Idol. Go to the left, stun the Snake
and climb it to jump over the pool with the black slime. Jump to the tongue to
get upstairs, grab the Bags and enter the door. You'll come out the door to the
right of the wall and you will soon find the Skeleton. You are again in the
corridor with quicksand. Reach the Location Idol but this time go to the right.
Break only the third and fourth jar to obtain a Heart and a Bag. Go right
through the door, but there is a pool with the black slime. Jump on moving
platforms. Then pick up the Exploding Stones and exceeds a second pool as
before, but this time you will need to climb into an opening in the ceiling.
Here go to the right, touch the Location Idol, grab the Silver Bar taking care
of Hawks and Snakes and go upstairs. Go to the right (watch out for Snakes) and
go down the rope. Don't drop just under the rope because there are spines, drop
a bit to the left (in the direction of the coins), and then continue in this
direction by defeating a Skeleton. Jump on the tongue and hang to the hooks on
the roof. Continue to the left, go down to pick up Exploding Stones and a Heart
and enter the door. You will come out of a door superior to the point where you
met the last Skeleton. Then climb the rope nearby and press the switch that
opens the door at the bottom right. You'll see a pool of black slime that can
only be overcome by jumping on tongues. You'll have to jump about 4-5 tongues
to get to a door in the top right. In the other room, touch the Location Idol
and exceeds the pool jumping on two moving platforms to reach another door.
Enter and in the other room you'll find a Heart and a Golden Idol. So back to
the previous room and go to the right, going down (beware of the spines). Crawl
under an opening in the wall to the left to grab a Bag and then continues to
the right. The first jar contains a Golden Idol, the second one the Exploding
Stones. Jump on the moving platforms and to left to grab a Heart and press a
hidden switch. Then jump back onto the platforms for climb onto the roof
through an opening. Touch the Location Idol to the left, grab the Bag and go to
the right. Go through the door and jump down to the right. DON'T GRAB the Bag,
otherwise you will face the Boss! Go down to the left and fight a Skeleton. Go
right and through the door you will find the letter A!!! But also a Heart and
the vortex that leads to the fourth and final Bonus World, another Secret
Loltun Vault! By now you know how it works. Once the minigame ends, return to
where the Skeleton and the spines were. There you will see the tip of a rope
that descends from the background. Climb it to its top and you'll see the
Exploding Stones on its left. Then exit to the left, go down and to the right,
where there was the Bag that led to the Boss. Get on the small platform before
the Bag, in correspondence of the rope, and from there jump on the ledge to the
right, thus avoiding to grab the Bag. Get a running start and jump to the
right, jump on the tongue and through the opening in the ceiling. Grab the
Heart and go through the door on the right to exit the level! If you are not
able to avoid taking the Bag, you'll face the Boss. This is the Jaguar-Man, a
sort of Warlock/Shaman who can turn into Jaguar. It's in this form that he will
appear at the beginning. He has 4 types of attacks.

1.Jaguar shape: he will attack exactly like the previous bosses.

2.Human shape: at short distance, he extracts the claws (like Wolverine) and
scratch you; don't stay next to him and don't close yourself in the corners.

3.Human shape: at middle distance, he jumps towards and hits you; go away to
avoid being hit.

4.Human shape: at any distance, he get a magic stick, he twirls it in the air
and beat it violently to the ground, causing an earthquake. This is his main
attack and he can run it repeatedly. Jump just before the stick hits the ground
to avoid being hit by the seismic wave, or you'll get an heavy damage.

Hit the Jaguar-Man with any weapon, but of course the Exploding Stones are the
best to take this fight as short as possible and try not to lose a life. Once
defeated, the Jaguar-Man will vanish. From the statue of stone in the wall to
the right will come out the tongue that will allow you to reach the level exit.

11j) Temple of Tikal

Go right and fight the Spirit. So stay behind the pillar and jump on a hidden
spring to reach the top floor through an opening in the ceiling. Go left, avoid
the spiked ball, and pull down the lever. Then go right, past the second spiked
ball and pull down another lever (watch out for the Bat). Come down to the
bottom floor, from where you are rose, and continue to the right until a
trapdoor opens in the floor (be careful of the Bat) and come down. Get the Bag
to your right and then go to left, going down to the bottom floor through the
opening in the floor. Go right and pull down the lever. Then go to the left
(avoid the spiked ball) and open another trapdoor with a cobweb below it. But
continue to left of the door that leads to the bottom floor, down the stairs
and jump on one of the platforms that float on the river of black slime. Climb
the rope and jump on the ledge with the spiked ball. Break the jar for a Ring
and kill the Bat. Jump back onto the floating platforms and then on a ledge
behind the pillar, beyond which there is a Location Idol. Continue again on the
floating platforms until you find a Golden Idol, then go back (against current)
to the Location Idol. Hence jump on the fixed platforms on the wall going
towards right to rise and then to left until you get to a door blocked by a
cobweb (pay attention to spiked balls and a Bat). Break it, go through the door
and defeat a Warrior. Then jump on the webs to collect some Coins, a Bag and
Exploding Stones in the jars. Go back, kill the Bat (again) and jump on the
platforms on the wall to reach a door in the upper right corner (kill another
Bat). In this room, you will see a large stone, coming from the left, roll
towards you. Obviously run towards right, jump the gap and touch the Location
Idol. Carry on to the right dodging 3 spiked balls that rotate, in order, from
right to left, from left to right and the last alternately from right to left
and vice versa. Then wait on the edge of the floor for a rolling stone until it
falls down, then jump on the other side. Other rolling stones will come, avoid
them jumping on platforms on the wall, and reach the door (if you want, grab
the Ring crossing pegs). Enter the door and, in the other room, touch the
Location Idol and kill the Bat, then jump on the platforms floating on the
river (watch out for a Bat), go beyond a pillar, climb the rope and reach the
Location Idol (another Bat). At the bottom left there is a Heart, but be
careful to fall on a platform. Behind the upper part of the pillar beside the
rope there is a hidden door. Enter and in the other room you'll find a Golden
Idol and a Warrior who protects the letter L!!! Kill the Warrior and grab the
letter. Go back and enter the door next to the Location Idol. As soon as you go
out you will see a rolling stone come from the left. Run to the right until you
reach a pillar, behind which a rope lies. Climb it and let the stone pass,
then go to the right with calm, there are no other stones. Jump the gap, touch
the Location Idol, kill the Spirit to the right and break the jar for Exploding
Stones, then climb a rope hidden behind the pillar and go upstairs. Avoid the
spiked ball, kill a Bat, grab the Bar and the Bag, kill another Bat and enter
the door to exit back to the downstairs. Pull down the lever to open the
trapdoor and jump down, grabbing the Exploding Stones, a Heart and a Bag. Enter
the door on the right to exit the level! Get ready for the final showdown...

11k) Warrior Spirit

Do you find yourself in a sort of arena where you're going to deal with the
Spirit of an ancient Warrior, Zakelua: the Lord of Evil! He has taken the form
of a giant stone statue. He has 5 types of attacks.

1.He moves back and forth and then jumps on site (calling it an attack is a bit
excessive, since it is almost impossible to be affected).

2.He kneels down and fire a stone fist to you; crouch not to be hit.

3.He beats his foot on the ground causing an earthquake (as the Jaguar-Man with
the stick). Jump just before his foot hits the ground to avoid being hit by the
seismic wave, or you'll get a damage.

4.At short distance, he grabs you, gets up you in the air, crushes you a bit
and then throws you to the ground; try to stay not too close.

5.He jump high in the air off the screen and falls, in a non-detectable point,
divided into many pieces, and then bouncing and reform at another point. This
is his main attack, he will execute it repeatedly. If you're in one of the two
above-mentioned points, you'll get a heavy damage. Try to stay on the corners
of the arena.

The only way to defeat him is to attack him all the time with the Exploding
Stones until he explodes into a thousand pieces. He receives the greatest
damage when he is divided in pieces during the attack 5, but don't wait for
that moment to hit him, throw Exploding Stones repeatedly.

Once he is defeated, in the center of the arena the letter L will appear. Grab
it and join the end.

12) FAQ

1.Q: What are the patterns to repeat in the 3 Loltun Secret Vault?
A: From some researches I've done, I can say that the patterns to repeat are
randomly generated by the game. For this reason I haven't written them
    down on the walkthrough above.

2.Q: Do you need to find all the letters to complete the game 100%? What
changes if I am not able to find any?
A: Yes, to complete the game 100% you have to find all the letters of the
word PITFALL, as I said at the beginning of the walkthrough. If you are
not able to find some, please refer to the above guidelines. If you don't
want to be spoiled then stop reading now. After having defeated Zakelua
and having taken the last letter, you see Harry Jr run towards an altar to
which it is hung and tied his father, who seems almost scold the child for
having taken so long to save him (ungrateful!). Then you will see the two
hugged from behind to walk with the sunset in the background, therefore
the letters that you found will appear. If you found all the letters, you
will see the word VICTORY! written with the same characters of the
letters, and below a message that tells you "now take a photo to document
your triumph". If you left out a few letters, a message will appear
telling you that the "victory is yours... but you may have missed
something". Then the credits will scroll.
