Metal Max 2 Walkthrough
Version 1.0 - 10/22/2002
by Carlos Satoshi Mori (
[email protected])
This is a guide for Metal Max 2, a game developed and released for the Su-
per Famicom (SFC) in 1993. I decided to write this because I really love this
game, and there seem to be no FAQs/Walkthroughs for it already. So, I figured
I'd take the matter on my own hands.
Please keep in mind that this walkthrough is only a poor substitute of the
actual game experience: I recommend that you play this game your own way, and
only resource to this document in case you're really stuck, or want to see if
there is anything left to do after you finish the game. This FAQ can be a big
spoiler.
Also, I should already tell you this game is text-intensive, and those who
don't have any knowledge of japanese may have a hard time figuring things out
even in this FAQ. I do make use of japanese text here, so if you're unable to
see japanese text, you'll see only some garbage text at some points.

Pressing the 'A' button at the field map brings up the main menu. The main
menu functions are the following:

[強さ ] - Strenght [道具 ] - Item
[装備 ] - Equipment [砲弾 ] - Shells

a person.

you can drop a few tiles to reduce weight.

Pressing Start at the field map brings up the Tank Data Menu (just like

These are the options in it:

トランク (Trunk) - The items stored at the Trunk Room in Mado City.
CHARACTERS-------------------------------------------------------------------
Here I'll place a brief description of each character, in hope to bring up
the unique features of each one.
1 - Hanta
---------
Hanta, a Bounty Hunter, is the main character of the game, and the one you
start with. Hanta's meant to be a balanced character: fair battle skills, and
good mechanic abilities. His main advantage are his driving skills, which al-
low him to squeeze a little bit more from a car than the others.
2 - Ijiru
---------
Being a mechanic, you shouldn't expect Ijiru to perform miracles in battle
(or even be very good at it). In fact, he's the weakest fighter of the group,
to such an extent he can't even equip the most powerful weapons.
Ijiru does have a certain variety of exclusive weapons and protective gear
available, but these are usually weaker than those available for the rest of
the party, not to mention more expensive.
His greatest feature isn't for battles: he's a superior mechanic (expecta-
ble, isn't it?). Not only he has the highest Repair Level (meaning he can ma-
ke Repair Kits last longer), when this Repair Level reaches 50 he becomes ca-
pable of repairing even destroyed parts, while everyone else can only repair
semi-damaged stuff. At times, this is the best skill you can ask for.
3 - Anne
--------
Anne is a trained soldier, unlike everyone else. She is by far the best in
personal battle, being the only one able to equip the most powerful weapons -
plus, she has a considerably high HP. On the other hand, she's the worst dri-
ver and mechanic.
4 - Pochi
---------
In battle, Pochi works like a non-player character (NPC): you have absolu-
tely no control over what he does. He is smart enough to use healing items if
his HP gets too low, but that's all you can exepct from him other than attac-
king whoever is closer.
Also, being a dog, Pochi can't drive, and is left constantly exposed to e-
nemy attacks. To compensate that, he has the highest HP on your party. In ad-
dition, he has the strongest weapons (since he has to level up with your cars
most of the time). He also has the strongest defense equipment, but that only
makes up for his inability to wear arm and leg armors.

CHARACTER EQUIPMENT----------------------------------------------------------
There are five different types of equipment: weapons, suits, gloves, boots
and protectors. On the descriptions, the H, M, S, D marks refer to which cha-
racter can equip this item: H = hunter, M = mechanic, S = soldier, D = dog.
1 - Weapons
-----------
First come the weapons; in this section a '1' means the weapon attacks one
single enemy per turn; a 'G' indicates it attacks one group, and 'A' means it
attacks all enemies at once.

According to Famicom Magazine (March 19, 1993), some helmets also increase
the hit and/or evade rates of its user. I'm not sure if it's true, nor how to
find it out, but these are the rate bonuses, according to the magazine:
- Pochi Goggle: Hit + 1%, Evade + 1%
- Goggle Cap: Hit + 1%, Evade + 1%
- Copy Beret: Evade + 5%
(presumably the Skunks Beret has the same bonus)

----------
Now, to the gloves. Unlike suits and helmets, gloves may not be a defensi-
ve equipment only: they may rise your attack stats as well. There are no glo-
ves available for your dog, of course.

don't do it as often as gloves. There are no leg protections for dogs.

--------------
At last, the protectors. Protectors are kinda like bulletproof vests: they
help you sustain less damage on each attack, but an excessively strong impact
can cause them to break, in which case they become totally useless.

Protector Scraps are what's left of any protector after being broken by an
enemy attack. They have, at principle, no value, but can be sold at Azusa Ci-
ty. In this case, selling several Protector Scraps at once may be worth a bo-

VEHICLE EQUIPMENT------------------------------------------------------------
For cars, there are six different categories: chassis, large gun, sub-wea-
pon, special (S-E), engines and C-Unit.
1 - Chassis
-----------
First, let's cover the chassis: these are the only thing on the cars that
can't be replaced. The ammo (Am) column shows the amount of special shells it
can carry, and the 'Slots' column shows which slots are open by default:
'M' = main gun (large cannons)
'A' = assistant weapon (sub-weapons)
'S' = special weapon (S-Es)
Remember that, at a chassis upgrade shop, you can alter the slots so they
can accept different kinds of weapons.

Tank number 8 is a custom-made unit. You can choose between four different
chassis, and add features as you wish. On the preceding chart, the weight in-
dicated for those tanks is the minimum one - it grows according to the weapon
slots, shell carriage and armor you choose to install.
2 - Large Guns
--------------
Second, the large guns, the main thing when fighting most strong monsters.
These weapons have limited ammo (Am), and reloading them costs money. The hi-
gher their armor (Arm), the less likely the weapon is to be broken. The Wg(t)
column indicates the weapon's weight, in tons.

'Burst'-type cannons are capable of firing twice per turn. All weapons can
be upgraded on a parts upgrade shop, but some can be upgraded more times than
others (the values above refer to the weapons without any upgrades).
3 - Sub-Weapons
---------------
The second type of weapon is the sub-weapon. These are designed to be your
everyday weapon of choice, as they have unlimited ammo and can often hit more
than one enemy at a time.

4 - S-Es
--------
The last class of weapon is the Special Equipment (S-E). These weapons are
designed for use in special situations only. They have VERY limited ammo, but
can cause massive damage, as well as hurt the opponent's status.
To save column space, the ammo and range columns were merged into one, the
'A/R' column.

Notice that more than being awfully expensive (and their ammunition is ve-
ry expensive too), S-Es are usually very heavy, and prone to breaking.
5 - C-Units
-----------
Computer Units (C-Units) are responsible for most of the navigation tasks
of a car; they take care of several non-essential functions, making it possi-
ble for a single person to pilot a tank. They also contribute a little bit in
battle, improving your hit and evade rates.

C-Units often pass unnoticed when you configure your car; often, you might
only remember them when they break...
6 - Engines
-----------
Engines are essential parts of a vehicle; they're one of the three things
without which a car can't function at all (the other two are the chassis and
the C-Unit).
They are what define what the other parts of your car will be, as they are
responsible for carrying the car's entire weight. How much they can weight is
called their 'capacity' (Cp(t)), expressed in tons.

Engines are divided by classes; a given engine can be up or downgraded in-
to any other engine of its class; for example, if you have the Jango, you can
take it to the parts upgrade shop and turn it into a Boost Jango, which can,
in its turn, be upgraded into the DOHC Jango. So, having an engine means you
have, potentially, the strongest engine of its class.
7 - Special Shells
------------------
Special Shells are used to perform special attack functions. The amount of
special shells a car can carry varies (see the "Chassis" part of the "Vehicle
Equipment" section).
They can only be fired by large cannons, and can be sold (for the very sa-
me price you bought them), but not passed from one car to another.
Name | Price | Effect
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
よび弾 Spare Shell | 10 | Same as a cannon's regular ammo

れいとう弾 Freeze Shell | 50 | Freeze attack on one enemy group

てっこう弾 Iron/Steel Shell | 30 | Likely to damage/destroy parts
セメント弾 Cement Shell | 35 | Reduces enemy agility
ロケット弾 Rocket Shell | 99 | High damage on fast enemies
パトリ弾 PatriShots | 9 | Used by anti-projectile systems
The PatriShots require the car to have the AM Patriot item, which must be
turned on. The stronger the cannon firing them, the better the results use to
be, especially on the damage side.
SERVICES---------------------------------------------------------------------
1 - Trunk Room
--------------
(Available at Mado City only) The Trunk Room is a free storage service; at
this place, you can store items and equipments you won't need. The menu there
goes as follows:
[ Store ] [ Take Out ] [ Goodbye ]
Simple enough, [Store] lets you store items, [Take Out] lets you pick what
you stored, and [Goodbye] is an exit option. Your stored items aren't ordered
in any fashion - they're in the same order you put them.
2 - Refill Service
------------------
Lets you reload your vehicles' ammo and armor. The menu is:
[ Refill All ] [ Stop ]
[ Refill Armor ] [ Count Tiles ]
[ Refill Ammo ] [ Count Shells ]
[Refill All] refills both armor and ammo for your vehicles; [Refill Armor]
equips as many armor tiles as your vehicle can carry, while [Refill Ammo] re-
loads only a chosen weapon. [Count Tiles] and [Count Shells] let you know how
much armor and shells each car has.
3 - Hunter Office
-----------------
The Hunter Office is the place where you can collect the bounties for kil-
ling wanted monsters. You can look at the wall posters to see pictures of the
wanted major monsters (usually, those that are nearest to this city). Talk to
the man behind the counter, and the following menu appears:
[ This Week's Target ] [ Listen Information ]
[ Just Looking ] [ Receive Prize ]
[This Week's Target] tells about rewards offered for minor monsters. Unli-
ke major monsters, campaigns for their heads are temporary, so they may expi-
re if you take too long to collect.
[Listen information] makes the clerk tell you the whereabouts of one major
monster (usually one of those displayed on the wall posters). [Receive Prize]
is the option to collect the bounty for killing a major monster.
4 - Memory Center
-----------------
This is the place where you can save your game; they're usually located at
Hunter Offices. Memory Centers are just a computer, almost always operated by
a green-haired woman. When you talk to her, she asks whether you wish to save
your game (left is 'yes', right is 'no'). If you save, she'll ask whether you
want to continue playing (if you answer 'no' the screen goes black so you can
turn off your console).
5 - Teleport Machines
---------------------
Teleport Machines are warp devices usually placed at the underground. With
them, you can beam yourself to any previously visited city (provided your de-
sired destination has a teleport machine too). Only people can be teleported,
not vehicles.
6 - Car Wash and Gum Remover
----------------------------
(Available at Mado City only) As the name suggests, here you can have your
car washed. Every now and then, your cars get dirty with bird crap and things
alike; these things are totally useless, and take space on the vehicle's item
list, preventing it from carrying as many useful items as it could.
Unlike other items, bird crap can't be simply thrown out; the only way you
can get rid of it - and free its slot on the item list - is to have the dirty
vehicle washed.
Like cars, characters too can get dirty: a piece of gum may stick to them.
Gum is a little bit different from the bird crap: you can actually give it to
another character - but, if you do, BOTH characters (giver and receiver) will
have gum in their inventories. Like the bird crap, you can't simply throw gum
away - only the Gum Remover can clean it.
The Gum Remover is the helmet-wearing man at the bottom left house at Mado
City, and his services are all free. Makes you wonder what's his gum-removing
method, if he has to wear that huge helmet for it...
7 - Dr. Minchi
--------------
Dr. Minchi is a regular mad scientist. When one of your party member dies,
go to the Mado City bar - he'll be there to resurrect the dead. Also, if your
entire party dies, the next thing you get to see is Minchi, and his assistant
Igor.
WALKTHROUGH------------------------------------------------------------------
When you start a new game, you have to give a name to your main character.
If you go straight to "end" (bottom right option), the main character will be
given his default name, which is "Hanta"; so, in this document, I'll refer to
him as Hanta. Give him any name you wish, and you're ready to start.
0 - Prologue
------------
On one of their people hunting spree, the Grapplers are coming to Mado; if
they succeed, the city is doomed. To prevent this, the city elders hired four
famous hunters to defend them ("Falcon" Fei, "Iron Man" Apache, "Dashing Bug-
gy" Garcia and "Invincible Soldier" Maria); three of them are already waiting
at the bar. When Maria finally arrives, she brings along a friend: you.
Talk to everyone, leaving Maria for last - she mentions you must escape if
things get too tough: survival is the first duty of a bounty hunter. When the
Grapplers come, you can only watch until Ted Broiler arrives.
Broiler's too strong: soon only Maria is left, and Hanta jumps in the bat-
tle. Don't waste any items - you just can't win. Maria will always cover you,
so she'll die first, and you won't last much longer (despite Maria's instruc-
tions, you can't run away)...
1 - Mado City
-------------
You wake up in a bed. Try to go downstairs to stumble on a kid named Karu;
he and his sister Illit cared for you after the battle and tell only you sur-
vived it. Illit gives you a BS Controller, the only thing left of Maria, won-
you'd like to keep something of hers.
Check out the cabinets for a Molotov Cocktail. You can come here any time,
and talk to Illit to sleep over and refill your HP. Downstairs, go to the Re-
pair Dock to learn the local mechanic, Nile, went to El Ni? City looking for
material to fix a car. Right outside this building, check the mailbox to read
a letter from Maria to Fei, telling she's coming to town.
Explore the city to know what it offers, especially because it has several
unique services, like a Trunk Room, Car Wash and Gum Remover. There's a Tele-
port Machine at the bottom left house, but it doesn't work because its power
grid is off. At the same building's second floor, fall off the hole to reach
boxes containing two Cure Capsules, a Rocket Firework and 3G.
At the top floor of the bar/inn, check the armoires and drawers for a Pine
Soap. The underground shelter is northwest of the bar, but there's nothing to
do there right now; the wooden box contains a shotgun, but you're not allowed
to keep it - it's for the shelter's protection. Plus, a door's blocking your
way to the safes; its key was lost long ago...
For the time being, you did all you could at this city, time to move on...
From here, you can go to three different places: to the west, there's a house
("Lonely Man's House"); the Nameless Bar is east; and El Ni? City northeast.
Let's check the western house first (actually, this house and the bar seem to
hold no important events, so you can skip straight to El Ni? if you want).
2 - Lonely Man's House
----------------------
The man inside this house is drunk. He says you're on the wrong way if you
want to reach El Ni? - you should've gone east until you reach a desert, and
then north.
On the wall, there's a picture of a young girl - look at it, and the drunk
starts crying about Latoya (the girl on the photo, I suppose), asking why did
she leave. The kid explains since his mother died his father started drinking
a lot. There are no items here, so just leave and go east, through the desert
until you reach the Nameless Bar.
3 - Nameless Bar
----------------
Again, nothing really useful here. The clerks just offer services (drinks,
rooms) if you talk to them through the counter; if you go behind the counter,
one of them isn't very pleased, and tells you that, if you want a friend, you
should go to El Ni?: he's heard of a clumsy mechanic imprisoned by the Grap-
plers for messing with their cars.
On the second floor, there are 5G inside the drawer. The safe is a quality
one, and you can't break it open. Leave the bar, go west, back to the desert,
and from there go north to reach El Ni? City.
4 - El Ni? City
----------------
This city is taken over by the Grapplers, and is controlled by a man named
Mendoza. Go to the largest building on town, and talk to the mechanic behind
the counter (the one wearing blue) - he'll tell you Nile has already returned
to Mado City with the parts he needed. Mendoza's at the second floor; you can
talk to him, but there's little point on doing this - still, you can play the
game machine next to him, and get a Cure Capsule from a refrigerator.
Talk to the woman near the cage (Melody) to learn the prisoner is a Mecha-
nic, arrested for messing with the Grapplers' cars; she also asks you to save
him. At the bar, learn about Gimba, a famous jailbreaker: he might be able to
help you rescue the Mechanic - however, his hideout is unknown.
Check the area above the Rental Service tent to find a secret passage and
get a Cure Drink and a Mechanic Glove. At the Hunter Office building, the two
looking at the posters are the PichiPichi Brothers, another wanted monsters;
however, they run away as soon as you talk to them. One drum can be pushed to
the side, revealing a passage to a hideout, where an old man named Kimba lies
in a bed. He knows where Gimba lives, but will not tell you unless he is sure
you can be trusted.
Enter the rightmost tent to reach yet another Teleport Machine. There is a
generator near it - use the computer to activate it. Now, the teleport system
is functioning, and you can use it to warp to any city you visited. Let's put
it to work - return to Mado City.
5 - Mado City
-------------
Return to Nile's Repair Dock - Nile's back already. He introduces himself,
and tells Illit and Karu are his grandkids. Since your friends died defending
this city, he thought he'd give you something as a proof of gratitude: hop up
in the car he shows you, and you'll be prompted to name it (default: "Garcia-
Gou" = "Garcia Model").
As the name hints, this is the car your friend Garcia drove. Leave the car
(it can't move anyway; it's broken) and talk to Nile again, so he can explain
it'll take him one more night to finish repairing it.
[NOTE: From now on, whenever you rise a level, return here and talk to Nile.
Choose the second option and he'll coach your players into better mechanics.
Also, give preference to him to repair damaged/broken car parts - his servi-
ces are always free!]
Go upstairs and sleep to spend this night; by the next morning, just talk
to Nile and get the buggy. He hopes you can use it to defeat monsters, become
stronger, and put an end to the Grapplers. For the moment, with a car, you're
set to go hunt the first major monster: the Sand Shark. Refill the car (go to
El Ni? to buy better stuff for your car, if you want - I recommend buying a
48mm Cannon), and chase the shark fin at the desert: it's battle time!
Boss: Sand Shark ----------------------------------------------------------

If you have the 48mm Cannon things should be much easier, as it's much
stronger and carries more ammo than your previous 37mm Cannon. The Sand
Shark has the nasty habit of hiding underground, in which case you can't
hit him - and will waste precious ammo.

Anyone who tries to fight him without a car is likely to get killed in
a single round, so make sure your buggy has plenty of armor tiles. That
said, it's just a matter of firing your main gun at him. If you run out
of ammo, pray the Sand Shark's hurt enough so your sub-weapon can finish
the job.

It's actually possible to escape him if he proves to be too hard, but
escaping doesn't happen very often - better make the first time count.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
After defeating the Sand Shark, go to El Ni? once again.
6 - El Ni? City
----------------
Buy a Dog System for your car at the shop; with it, you can have your car
automatically take you to any city you already visited, as well as exit dun-
geons. Go to the Hunter Office and collect your prize (1000G) for killing the
Sand Shark.
Go to the inn (top left house) and try to reach upstairs: a Grappler will
block your way. Talk to the men in the bed and he'll tell you there's proba-
bly something on the second floor, as the Grapplers won't let anyone through.
Even if you try and rent the Bamboo Room (which is supposed to be upstairs),
the Grappler says it's occupied.
After speaking to the men in the bed, talk to the Grappler that blocks you
again; he insists you can't go upstairs and tells you to beat it. Answer 'no'
to pick a fight with him, then 'yes' to confirm you wanna battle. Defeat them
and they'll let you pass - just push them to the sides.
On the second floor, the guarding Grappler is asleep, so you can approach
the cell safely. One of the prisoners is the rightful owner of the inn, and
the second one is a trader called Kathia, who begs you to open the cage - the
guard has the key. Talk to the sleepy guard to get the Jail Key, then use it
on the door to free the inmates. Talk to Kathia to arrange a meeting with him
at Kimba's hideout.
Go to Kimba's hideout (remember, by pushing the drum at the Hunter Office)
and meet Kathia. He was heading to Mado City to warn about an imminent Grap-
pler attack, but was captured here first. Now, it seems safe for him to leave
this city, as Mendoza is a pretty small-minded boss.
Talk to Kimba: this time, Kathia guarantees you're trustworthy. Despite
his senility, Kimba tells Gimba lives in a sewer near Hatoba Village. He also
gives you his Gold Dentures - give them to Gimba to prove you're friendly. In
addition, he warns you about the Bay Bridge you must cross to reach Hatoba -
it is controlled by the Grapplers. Leave El Ni? and head west, to find the
Bay Bridge.
7 - Bay Bridge
--------------
Just before the bridge there's a bar/inn. Most people there just tell you
not to try crossing the bridge, or that the Grapplers are too strong to beat.
There are Pine Slippers on an armoire on the second floor.
Talk to the Grapplers at the bridge to learn only traders can pass. Insist
a little to pick a fight with them and defeat them in battle. As you push the
Grapplers back, they see a ship approaching: it's the ferry that transports
those caught during the Grapplers' people hunts.
Short on alternatives, the defated soldiers jump off the bridge and board
the ship to escape you; unfortunately fot them, the ship carries Ted Broiler,
who roasts the losers out of his boat and keeps on going.
Cross the bridge and move on. Not far to the north, there is a house: the
Sewage Management Bureau.
8 - Sewage Management Bureau
----------------------------
This used to be the Sewage Management Bureau, but the installations were
destroyed long ago, and no one knows what kinds of creatures live there now.
There's a Cure Capsule at the sink cabinet. The computer near the ramp says
the pollution levels at the sewers are dangerously high.
Go down the ramp to enter the sewer. Go right to find boxes with 580G and
a Gatling Gun - equip it immediately. Return left and go down; at a certain
point, you have to abandon your car to proceed and find some people living at
the sewers - none of them says anything useful, though.
Retrieve your car, and backtrack all the way to the start. From there, go
left until you can go down again. A man sees you and runs away to warn Gimba.
Chase him: when you talk to him, he notices you don't look like a Grappler,
and lets you talk to Gimba.
Gimba immediately sees the dentures, and knows you're friendly. He's not
exactly happy Kimba gave up his location, but now it's too late to complain.
He goes with you to El Ni?.
9 - El Ni? City
----------------
Gimba checks the cage, and borrows your Jail Key. By tampering with it a
little, Gimba opens the door, than leaves - it's not good for him to expose
himself.
The mechanic doesn't know what to do now, but knows he won't stay in this
city anymore, so he asks to join you: he's Ijiru, the second member of your
party! While leaving, Ijiru meets with his sister Melody and tells her to ta-
ke their father and leave the city.
Use the underground passage (the same that leads to the teleport machine)
to reach the back of the rental agency, and talk to Ijiru's father, who dis-
inherits him for being stupid enough to mess with the Grapplers.
Leave the city (I suggest you rent a vehicle for Ijiru first), cross the
bridge again. Return to the sewers to retrieve your buggy, then go northeast
from the Sewage Management Bureau to find Hatoba Village.
10 - Hatoba Village
-------------------
You can find Socks in a drawer on the center tent. The Hunter Office's em-
pty, and its computer's broken. Talk to the scared man in the corner to learn
two bad guys thrashed the office and kidnapped its staff.
Buy a Pow-Wow Gourmet at the item shop. The largest building is the ferry-
boat station. Go to its second floor and a dog will block your way; feed it
the Pow-Wow Gourmet and he'll let you through. The two baddies appeared there
too and messed up the place. You can find a Pow-Wow Gourmet, Red Bandana and
a Denim Patch at the armoires. Go down the top right stairs.
Open a cabinet to find 2G, then use the stairs to your left to reach a ba-
sement room. Wake up the unconscious man: he's the Hunter Office clerk, left
here by the evil twosome, who he identified as the PichiPichi Brothers.
Go back all the way to the entrance and hop in your car(s). Exit the sta-
tion through the rightmost door and a girl comes out at the same time - she's
hesitant to leave, and the man on the other side tries to talk her away.
If you want, you can use the ferry service to cross to Delta Rio City. You
can't exit the station there (a Grappler's at the door), but you can buy bet-
ter car equipment without leaving the building.
Having saved the Hunter Office clerk, return to El Ni? to meet the Pichi-
Pichi Brothers again at the Hunter Office - and again they'll run away. Time
to move on: from the Bay Bridge go southwest, following the river course wi-
thout crossing any bridges, to find the Dog Village.
11 - Dog Village
----------------
As its name implies, this is a nearly dog-only village. To the east, the-
re's an item shop inside a tent. At the building first floor, check the boxes
for a Barrier Seal, a Pow-Wow Gourmet and 403G. At the second floor you can
find 3G and a Denim Patch, plus an elder saying watching the dogs run around
is the only joy in his life.
If you talk to any dog, it barks and you must answer 'yes' or 'no'. If you
say 'yes', the dog joins you. The problem is, common dogs are lousy fighters,
so make sure you answer 'no' (if a regular dog did join you, go to Mado City
and enter the center warehouse to get rid of him).
Outside the building, enter the pound to the left. Talk to the different
dog and answer 'yes': that's Pochi, the dog you want on your team. With a new
member on your party, go back to Hatoba.
Equip Pochi with stuff sold at Hatoba and El Ni?. Also, buy a Mine Detec-
tor at Hatoba, and make sure you have a Repair Kit. From Hatoba, go northwest
until you find a tunnel in the mountains - enter it.
12 - Bitoh's Tunnel
-------------------
Digging tunnels is the sole objective of Bitoh's life, and he's currently
working on rebuilding a tunnel that collapsed long ago. Inside the tent, one
of Bitoh's friends asks you to help Bitoh: he's in the end of the cave. The
hole above was just to calibrate their Tunnel Bowler.
Go to the eastern end of the tunnel to find Bitoh. His Tunnel Bowler's en-
gine broke when it hit a particularly hard bedrock, and now he needs a Repair
Kit to fix it. Give him one, and Bitoh hands out a Capsule Drink in gratitude
for your gesture.
Now Bitoh can move on with his tunnel digging, but it'll still take some
time before he finishes it. Go west to find a city near the ruins of a train
line: Azusa City.
13 - Azusa City
---------------
Azusa City is home to an anti-Grappler resistance movement, which makes no
distinction between weak and strong people: everyone's welcome. Pick a Sleep
Gas Shell at the garage first floor, as well as an Egyptian, a Cure Drink, a
Molotov Cocktail and a 44 Magnum at the second floor.
At the item shop (rightmost tent) there's a Pine Soap, and a Slimy Cell at
the car equip shop (leftmost tent). As soon as possible, return to Mado City
and store this Slimy Cell at the Trunk Room to keep it safe (you may have mo-
re Slimy Cells (you can get them by fighting Killer Amoebas); if so, you can
sell the excedent at any bar - you only need to store one).
Visit the bar/inn. You can't open the safe there, but you'll be told about
a bar, way up to the north, famous for presenting two really beautiful girls;
they're twins, and still single!
Enter the column north of the city. You're warned you can't enter the 'up-
per city' without the password, and nobody will teach you - one kid reasons
that if you don't know it already, then you're one of the bad guys. Remember
to get the Red Peony Vest from the box near the top.
Reaching the top, a girl blocks your way, asking something like: "North?"
(the direction may vary). Answer 'no', and repeat this answer until the form
of her question changes to something like "South, isn't it?". When this dif-
ferent question comes, answer 'yes' and she'll let you through.
[NOTE: if you don't know japanese, just pay attention to the last two letters
of her first question. Answer 'no' until she asks something ending with dif-
ferent letters.]
By talking to the people, you can notice Maria was well-known in the upper
city. Inside the tent is a dealer who buys Protector Scraps; you can sell him
the Scraps now, but I suggest piling them up for a later sale, so you can get
a bonus protector in exchange (see the 'Protectors' part of the 'Character E-
quipment' section for more details).
Inside the Shinkansen (bullet train), learn the beautiful girls of the Bar
Thirsty hate the Grapplers too. Plus, that bar has stores that sell some po-
werful stuff. Pick the Signal Detector at the left end of the train.
Most people on this train speak with admiration about Maria, and tell her
killer, Ted Broiler, is one of the Grapplers' "four emperors". The resistance
leader (an elder in a bed) says Maria was born here in Azusa, and tells about
the day she brought an unknown child (you) she'd saved from a battlefield.
South of Azusa, there is a single house surrounded by the mountains. It's
called the Misfire Mansion - visit it.
14 - Misfire Mansion
--------------------
This place sells Misfired Shells - shells retrieved from the battlefield
and whose purpose is unknown. To put it simply, when you use a Misfired Shell
you never know what effect it'll have on the enemy.
Buy some Misfired Shells if you want, then head north, past Azusa, follow-
ing the remains of the road, to find the Bar Thirsty (on your way there, you
may stumble on the third wanted monster, Saigon - just defend until he runs
away).
15 - Bar Thirsty
----------------
The beautiful twins that make this place's fame are called Lisa and Wendy,
and all the customers are fans of either one of them, even if they can't tell
them apart. The clerks, on the other hand, claim they have no weapon-selling
businesses going on here ("this is just a bar").
The PichiPichi Brothers are here, but they ignore your presence while wai-
ting for the show. Enter the room through the left door and talk to the nea-
rest girl. She asks if you're her fan; say you are, and she'll do the exactly
same routine you went through in Azusa: she asks whether she's Wendy or Lisa,
and you must answer 'yes' only when the form of her question changes.
Wendy's thrilled you can tell them apart and is, therefore, a real fan of
hers. Because of that, she claims she wants to give you "a great service" and
pulls you deeper into the dressing room.
Once you guys are out of everybody else's sight, Wendy asks where did you
learn the password. Answer 'yes' when you're offered weapons, and she'll tell
you to come again after the show. Sit on a chair to start the show.
After the show, talk to the PichiPichi Brothers; your constant harassing's
getting annoying, so they reaffirm they're the real bad thing and you should
maintain distance unless you want to get hurt. That said, they leave.
Talk to Wendy again. She lets you in and Lisa leads you upstairs to intro-
duce you as a new customer. Check everything on this floor to get two Barrier
Seals, a Battle Spike, a Mini Vulcan and a Nitro Beer. One of the clerks is
blocking your way to the top left boxes, so go down and up the stairs to make
him leave, then open the boxes for a Hand Grenade and a Cure Drink.
Back to the first floor, the box on the dressing room has a Liquid Mosqui-
to Toll. Now that you're known, the clerks on the top left and top right cor-
ners will sell you people and car equipments, respectively - if anything in-
terests you, buy it here: it's half the price.
Leave the bar. Go southeast and use the Mine Detector on the desert (near
the mountains to the south) until it detects something. Check the marked spot
to find a new chassis for you - the Armored Car! Also, there's a Beam Lancer
buried to the north (far north) of the Armored Car.
At the eastern side of this desert, there is a four-tree formation around
a clear spot. Enter this center spot to discover a Trader Camp.
16 - Trader Camp 1
------------------
This is a secret Trader Camp - only one of many hidden scattered all over
the world. This place doesn't sell any important equipments, but you may want
to replenish on items. After you're done here, return to Hatoba.
At Hatoba, do whatever you need to do (save, etc.) and, once you're done,
go west, into the forest (you have to abandon your vehicles to enter it). In
its center lies the Forest Administration Bureau.
17 - Forest Administration Bureau
---------------------------------
Well, the whole place is an abandoned mess, seemingly ridden by something
very bad... Enter the building and push a drum in the rightmost room to find
a secret room with a Pow-Wow Gourmet.
At the second floor, the open notebook on a desk reports the appearance of
giant ants, which could be seen from the top of the watchtower. As they ate
through the doors, the person who wrote these notes writes a goodbye message
"from someone who worked to protect the forest for 20 years".
Pick two Shotguns in the armoires. Go upstairs and climb the watchtower to
see the giant ants and their lair. Leave the building and enter the ant hill
hole.
Inside the ant hole, go left until you find a passage leading south; enter
it and go downstairs. At this second level, go left and down to find a Battle
Spike and a Leather Patch. Return to the main path and go further left to get
to more stairs leading down.
At the third level, go down and right, ignoring all the passages below. At
the end of the path, go through the top right passage to find stairs leading
to the fourth level.
At the fourth level, talk to the man to learn the ants enslave people; he,
for instance, has to look after their eggs. He says he spent 20 years protec-
ting the forest (he's the one who worte the notes at the Bureau?), but 30 ye-
ars taking care of ant eggs - of course he's not happy.
If you go left and up, you can find a stairway leading to a cell with more
slaves, but they don't say anything new. Instead, go left and down to find a
chamber with a big red ant:
Boss: Adam Ant ------------------------------------------------------------

The only reason you had to visit the Bar Thirsty before coming here is
this: the Adam Ant is tough! It is feasible to defeat it without the Mini
Vulcan and the other new equipment, but you'd have to sweat a lot.

The Adam Ant can damage you severely with each attack, so have every-
body equip protectors - they're not going to last long, but any help is
welcome. Attack the Hunter Ants first (the green sidekicks), just because
they're so pesky. Against the Adam Ant itself, a Nitro Beer does wonders,
so toss one and then use regular attacks to the end, remembering to heal
yourself whenever your HP drops below 180 or so.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Having defeated the Adam Ant, leave the hill and go back to any city to
save and collect your reward (if you can see the posters for the PichiPichi
Brothers, notice the reward on them rose from 500G to 2000G). Then, go visit
Bitoh's Tunnel again.
18 - Bitoh's Tunnel
-------------------
Inside the tent, the woman's all joy, because Bitoh's been digging nonstop
ever since he repaired his digging machine. She calls you to hear the Tunnel
Bowler working, but there's no noise... something's wrong?
Go check on Bitoh to see the tunnel's almost done, but they've hit another
hard bedrock. Try to leave, and Bitoh'll stop you: the Bowler's blade could
probably crush the rock, but he doesn't think it the vehicle has enough hor-
sepower to move forward while doing this.
Now, Bitoh's idea is quite simple: use your cars to push the Tunnel Bowler
forward. Agree to it and, when Bitoh jumps in his digger, go behind him and
push. Keep holding, and soon the tunnel is done.
The tunnel-diggin crew is all happiness, and they're particularly grateful
to you. They go celebrate in their tent, and you're invited to join the party
anytime. Leave the tunnel through the newly-opened exit. Go east, then north
to find a city.
19 - Bazarska City
------------------
Bazarska's vocation is clearly for commerce, but the city hasn't seen much
movement lately: as soon as you set your feet in, the locals get all worked
up to see you - you're often referred to as "the legendary customers".
Learn, at the bar, that all those who take the old road to the north never
come back. Rumors say they were turned into stone - and can be seen north of
here.
At the garage buy a Signal Shot; you can use it to tag any monster, so you
can chase it later (using the Signal Detector) if it runs away. On the under-
ground, there's a chassis upgrade bay, where you can modify you cars. The me-
chanic on the lower table allows you to change your cars' names for 10G.
Enter the top left house and talk to the elder, who reveals the rumors are
false: whoever goes north is not turned into stone; instead, the stone-turned
people are just "stone and metal figures meant to resemble people".
The structure to the north is just a museum, built by a legendary millio-
naire called Brad; originally, Bazarska was built only to greet the visitors
of that museum. Check the drawers and armoires for 3G and 1G.
Enter the right wooden house and get a Denim Patch at the armoire. Go up-
stairs and talk to the mechanic - he just whines. The other man explains his
son studied like a maniac to become a car remodeler, but the city upgrade bay
isn't hiring anymore.
The father asks if you don't know any other repair bays that could use an
extra worker. Answer 'yes' and point to Mado City; immediately, he tells his
son about it. Talk to the son again to confirm it's true. From now on, he'll
be working at Mado City, at the underground of Nile's Repair Dock.
Make sure you have good equipment (for both your cars and your people) and
leave Bazarka to the north. Follow the remains of the road to a pyramid-like
structure - that's the Brad Museum.
20 - Brad Museum
----------------
There are three entrances to the museum: use the center door, which leads
to the main hall. Inside, follow the arrow and go left to hear a message wel-
coming you to the Brad Museum; it introduces itself as your intelligent hos-
tess, Alice2011.
As you advance, Alice2011 invites you to look at the precious works of art
gathered from around the world - an offering of the Brad Conglomerate. You'll
eventually find a ramp going up.
On the second floor, the sign near the mannequins says "Brad Brand Uniform
Collection". A little later, Alice2001 informs "the Brad Conglomerate is be-
coming more and more the leader in high technology", and invites you to visit
the clothing and chemistry boothes.
Approach the door between the capsule and the robot, and the security sys-
tem will attack you, as this is a staff-only area. Defeat it, cross the door
and go upstairs.
At the third floor you can find shelves cropped with difficult books, and
the computer to the right registers today's attendance: two visitors. Destroy
the security system defending the door above to enter a room with London Boo-
ts. Go upstairs, into the fourth floor.
There are two safes on the fourth floor, but you can only open one, where
you'll pick a Piece of Paper. The fifth floor has nothing of interest: only a
jukebox and a balcony (you can't see much from it). Backtrack all the way to
the second floor, and board your cars again.
Go to the right and Alice2001 greets you to the lounge, where you can rest
surrounded by masterpieces (on the wall hang famous painters' works). Use the
ramp to the right to return to the first floor.
On this room, Alice2001 calls you to see the achievements of the Brad Cor-
poration in the fields of engineering and public works. You can see a tank, a
C-Unit and an engine on display, but you can't reach them. Use the computers
to learn more about each of them.
Leave the room. As your tour is ending, Alice 2001 thanks you for your vi-
sit, and invites you to come again in the future. Leave the museum, and enter
it again through one of the side entrances - these lead to the basement.
Go straight to the grate blocking the large room at the top. The computer
panel next to the grate can open it, but it requires a password to work. Read
the Piece of Paper found at the fourth floor to learn the password.
Input the password, then choose 'open'. Inside the room, look at the com-
puters and call 'down' on each of them to lower the tank and the parts so you
can collect them: a Wozniak SI C-Unit, a Chonov T1 engine and your new tank,
the Wolf.
Equip the engine and C-Unit on the Wolf, then leave the Brad Museum. Next,
go to Azusa City.
21 - Azusa City
---------------
With the Wolf and its 88mm Cannon, you are prepared to hunt the third wan-
ted monster. Reload your weapons and armor tiles, then keep wandering in the
area between Azusa and the Bar Thirsty (especially near the woods); eventual-
ly, Saigon will attack:
Boss: Saigon --------------------------------------------------------------

One thing you should know about Saigon is that it always runs away at
the sixth turn, meaning you have to destroy it within five turns. If you
feel you can't make it, fire the Signal Shot at him. This way, after it
escapes, you can use the Signal Detector to trace his position and resume
your hunt (this counts for every wanted monster that runs away).

Now, about defeating Saigon itself: after having to get the 88mm Can-
non for this fight, it should be pretty obvious you must use it. Fire all
it has on Saigon. The Armored Car's ATM Missile is also quite damaging,
but it only has one shot - if you want, have the Buggy fire strong shots
(like Napalm Shells) instead; of course, if you altered any of your cars
to carry both a main gun and a S-E, you have the best of both worlds, but
it's not absolutely necessary.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
After you defeat Saigon, return to Mado and collect your reward. Then, set
up for a long journey: buy healing items, store what you won't need for now,
refill your cars. Go to the Bar Thirsty and go north from there; your goal is
the building in the middle of an small island - the Grapple Tower.
22 - Grapple Tower
------------------
A body falls right before your eyes - the last person to challenge the to-
wer leader Skunks. Talk to the corpse and you'll pick it and drag it around.
Return to Mado City.
23 - Mado City
--------------
Go straight to the bar; Dr.Minchi will be there - have him resurrect the
dead. She is Anne, the soldier, and the last thing she remembers is climbing
the Grapple Tower when looking for Ted Broiler, her brother's murderer. When
told she lost for Skunks, Anne vows to become stronger, then leaves...
Leave the bar, and she'll be looking at her brother's grave (Falcon Fei),
who she can't forgive for dying fighting for complete strangers. She promises
him she'll fight and destroy his enemies. Return to the Grapple Tower.
24 - Grapple Tower
------------------
First Floor: The circles on the ground are the security system. Defeat it,
then go to the right. Use the computers to open the doors be-
fore going down the ramp.
Basement: Go into the door and open the box to get 371G. Go back to the
first floor.
First Floor: Enter the elevator and go to the fifth floor.
Fifth Floor: Fight the security system again. After defeating it, go up; a
Grappler spots you and wonders what happened to the security
system. Beat the Grapplers to make them run away, then go up
and left. Notice the two drums blocking your way; push only
the rightmost drum down - don't move the other one.
Go to the bottom right corner of the floor and open the boxes
to find car parts (which you can't carry by yourself). At the
corner room there's a ventilation tube. Enter it and go left.
Come out in the bottom left room to pick a Barrier Seal and a
Goggle Cap, then go back into the vent, to the top left room.
The two people there are prisoners, and tell about a monster
called Skunks, which lives on the top of the tower - even the
guards seem to be afraid of him. The boy says he heard their
captors mentioning a code number - write the number down.
Leave this room by pushing the drum to the right, then enter
the top elevator and go to the ninth floor.
Ninth Floor: Enter the room full of Grapplers. Some of them you've already
beaten at the first floor - they try to spook you away now...
Push him out of your way, and do the same with the one before
the computer.
Insert the code number you learned from the boy into the com-
puter, then select 'off' to deactivate the security system -
from now on, you won't be attacked when approaching the blue
circles on the ground.
Check the refrigerators for a Pow-Wow Gourmet, than take the
elevator down to the eighth floor.
Eighth Floor: Go left and walk against the conveyor belts to reach the top
left corner - fall down the hole, into the seventh floor.
Seventh Floor: Check the boxes for 233G, a Cure Capsule, a Cure Drink, Nitro
Beer and Para-Non. Fall down the hole again.
Sixth Floor: At the sixth floor, use the vending machines to buy anything
you need and take the elevator to the fifth floor.
Fifth Floor: Take the stairway right below you.
Fourth Floor: Check the refrigerators at the top right corner for a Repair
Kit. Go left, and down the stairs at the top left corner.
Third Floor: Open the box for a Burner Gun, then back to the fourth floor.
Fourth Floor: Go back to the fifth floor.
Fifth Floor: Take the stairway next to the top elevator.
Fourth Floor: There's only one way to go: to the other stairway, down into
the third floor.
Third Floor: Go into the ventilation tube, to the bottom left corner, to
get a Cure Drink and a Evil's Bromide. Then, to the bottom
right corner. Enter the door to the top right room, and go
down the stairs.
Second Floor: Fall down the hole, to the first floor.
You'll fall right into a Grapplers' bedroom - defeat them. Push the drum
out of your way, and use the computer to the right to open the door. Retrieve
your cars, then use the top elevator.
Go to the fifth floor to get the car parts at the bottom right corner - a
Bull engine and a 9mm Chaingun. Visit the seventh floor for a Sleep Gas Shell
before going to the ninth floor. There, go to the bottom left corner and use
the computer to open the door. Climb the ramp to reach the tenth floor.
Talk to the Grapplers to learn Skunks is another of the four emperors of
the Bias Grapplers. Approach Skunks and he'll ask if you're a death-wishing
fool; answer 'yes' to fight him.
Boss: Skunks --------------------------------------------------------------

Defeating Skunks isn't that different from fighting Saigon. Have the
Wolf shoot its 88mm Cannon on him, and have the other car fire either ATM
Missiles or Napalm Shells at him.

Unlike Saigon, however, Skunks doesn't rely on sheer brute force: he
can fire poison shells, hand grenades and all sorts of damaging things.
So, make sure Pochi has plenty of healing items and use Tile Packs to re-
fill your cars' armor. Sleeping Gas Shells work on him too, but not often
and usually not for long.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wounded, Skunks tries to escape but doesn't last long, and dies saying his
friends will take care of you. Look at the computer near Skunks' platform: it
is a Bridge Lock Control - apparently, Skunks' explosion caused the bridge to
be lowered, and it can't be pulled up anymore. Better for you. You can fall
off the hole to the right to fall right on a guy's head on the ninth floor
(^^).
Leave the tower and go east. Not far from the tower, there's a four-tree
formation: it's a Trader Camp.
25 - Trader Camp 2
------------------
The man on the right tent asks if you've been to the Bar Thirsty, and, if
you say you did, he gets all worked up because he wants to visit it one day.
The left tent is an Interior Shop, "to make your place more beautiful, within
your budget". You can buy all sorts of decoration and furniture items and ha-
ve them sent to your place, at Mado City.
Buy anything you want, then leave the camp. Follow the remains of the road
below, to reach the city of Delta Rio.
26 - Delta Rio City
-------------------
You may've been to Delta Rio before, if you used the ferry on Hatoba, but
back then you didn't have full access to the city. Here, you learn that long
ago a fleet of unmanned busses was established to carry people from city to
city, but the machine that controlled them was destroyed; now, their route's
unknown, and they've become wild, 'field busses'.
Visit the bar to meet Anne again, confronting a thief; she's still not in-
terested in talking to you, and leaves. Still at the bar, you're told a woman
called Sayuri can tell you much about the 'field bus'.
At the bar's second floor, open the center armoire to reach the back room
and talk to Ishmael, a former sailor of Captain Bhab's ship. He says Bhab has
some deep grudge against a monster called U-Shark, and is obsessed with ven-
geance.
At the local Hunter Office, push the rightmost guy and go upstairs to open
boxes with a Cure Capsule, a V3-IC Chip, Pencil Missile, Red Bandana and Old
Coin. By using the bottom ladders, you can pick up a Shaggy Wig, Pochi Cylin-
der and a Smoke Firework.
The left boathouse houses the teleport system on its underground; go there
to meet the PichiPichi Brothers one more time. The right boathouse is the one
you could visit when taking the ferry from Hatoba, but now the ferry carries
you to Islaport City instead of Hatoba. Upstairs, rent the Pine Room and open
its armoires to find a Pine Towel.
The rightmost warehouse is a casino of sorts; there, you're told about one
Dhalsima, a rich enthusiast of gambling machines - but he hasn't appeared la-
tely. Take the top right ladder, then go down the bottom one to appear behind
a counter; talk to the customer to fix him a drink, and he'll confess he wan-
ted to hit big on the gambling machines to help a girl called Maririn.
Go to the left side harbor, to see the U-Shark appear. Chase it, into the
warehouse. Turns out it's a common shark, dead. Suddenly, Anne blasts her way
out of it, saying she won't let such a crummy shark eat her. She leaves, just
to die outside (again). Pick her body and go to Mado City.
27 - Mado City
--------------
Go to the bar to have Anne resurrected by Dr. Minchi. She says she'd heard
of a Grapplers' hideout at the sea; because she didn't have a ship, she went
swimming, then...
Having been defeated by that shark, Anne recognizes she's not strong enou-
gh to beat the Grapplers on her own; she presents herself as 'Anne, the Wild-
cat', and asks to join you. Now that your party is complete, return to Delta
Rio.
28 - Delta Rio City
-------------------
At the rightmost harbor you can find the Salvage Service. Basically, there
you can hire a boat to sweep the bottom of the lake, and get to keep whatever
it finds.
Next to the Salvage building lives a woman named Eva. She has constant ni-
ghtmares about one Cagliostro, but pretends nothing's wrong when she notices
you're there.
At the bottom right ships there are an Interior and item shops. Past these
stores lives Sayuri, who once was the number one showgirl. Back then, one of
her fans was a hunter, who once went into a field bus hunt. To catch one for
himself, he told he has to enter a Buddhist image's throat (?). Get a Tattoo
Seal downstairs.
The ship below the Salvage is a floating theatre. Pay the entrance to see
the show. At the audience, you're told that Maririn, although most beautiful,
is said to care only about money. Plus, she's apparently a lousy dancer - the
girl in the back just had her teeth loosened, courtesy of Maririn's high kick
skills.
After the show, talk to Maririn. Agree she's pretty and you like her, and
she'll ask if you wanna buy her stuff. Say you do, and she'll drag you into a
ship to talk with Dhalsima: she wants you to buy her an apartment! Do pay for
the apartment, and she'll show you the place.
Talk to Maririn at her new home, and she'll drag you into another shopping
spree. This time, you two go to the Interior Shop, where you can buy her any-
thing; now, whenever you buy at an Interior Shop, you have the choice to send
it either to Mado or Maririn's house.
Still at Maririn's house, open the cabinet next to her to find... Eva. She
is an old friend of Maririn, and, for an instant, refers to you as her 'money
bag'.
At the left harbor, the bottom left ship sells DD Pineapples, and the ship
to its right has a Mine Detector, 330G and 586G. Equip Anne and get her a car
(bring one at Mado, rent one, whatever). From Delta Rio go northeast, into an
area surrounded by mountains.
Inside this area, notice the busses running around - these are the famous
field busses. At the northwestern corner of this area, stand the remains of a
Buddha statue: enter it.
29 - Nobotoke Village
---------------------
You're told a man living upstairs has a lot of knowledge about the busses.
The Grapplers once tried to capture them for their own use, but these field
busses are proud, and with them it's kill or be killed; the Grapplers killed
plenty of them, but couldn't capture a single one.
The one before the refrigerator says he's keeping Metal Detectors cool in-
side the fridge. He offers to sell you one; buy it: they're the same as Mine
Detectors, but with a wider range.
Go upstairs. A man asks if you're here to catch a field bus; answer 'yes'.
He knows how to catch one, but wants money to teach you. You're the one to
decide how much you're paying, but if the offer is too low, he'll decline. To
be accepted, your offer must be at least 2222G.
He says there are strange signs like the one above him, most probably on
the grassy fields to the east, before the forest. Dig one of these out, and
the field busses will be attracted to it - the busses still haven't gone com-
pletely wild, retaining some bus characteristics. The sight of that sign ma-
kes them instinctively react and stop.
Take a look at the sign near the man to read it: "Bus Stop - Large Buddha
Statue Station". Leave the village and go northeast: there's one Trader Camp
hidden on the corner of the forest (a single clear patch in the end of a cor-
ridor of trees).
30 - Trader Camp 3
------------------
The trader near the water tells there's a famous weapon upgrading shop on
Islaport, called "Iron Hole". The tents sell car equip and items, but nothing
exclusive.
Leave the camp; now it's time to get yourself a bus. Move south from this
camp, until you find a clearer trail: these are the remains of the road. Use
the Metal Detector on this area. You will soon find a Bus Stop and a bus will
immediately come and stop before it. Congratulations, you've got the vehicle
No. 3: the Field Bus! Return to Delta Rio and take the ferry to Islaport.
31 - Islaport City
------------------
At the Arrival/Departure Building, the man by the table warns you hunters
aren't well seen here, especially after a guy named Hanta killed Skunks, lea-
ving the Grapplers apprehensive. You must pay the Grapplers an entrance fee
of 100G.
Go to the top of the lighthouse. Bhab's there, trying to spot the U-Shark.
He introduces himself and his goal: destroy the damned U-Shark, nothing else
matters. When Bhab calls you to join the hunt, agree. His ship Nemesis-Gou is
at the dock, waiting for you.
The leftmost waregouse is an hospital, but they're lacking good medicines,
especially Oyholotoxin, and analgesic composite used on Cure Capsules and Do-
ping Tabs. The patient on the center bed suffers from nightmares, apparently
cause by the belt stuck to his head: the electric shocks from it prevent his
brain waves from settling down. The only thing he says is "Death Cross".
The center warehouse has an Underwater Gun, Diver Suit, Panic Bottle, Fre-
eze Bottle and three barrier Seals on the second floor. The third warehouse
houses the car services. Go downstairs to visit the famous "Iron Hole" repair
shop: the new thing here is the part upgrader, a man that can upgrade parts,
making them stronger or weaker at your will.
At the inn, learn about the Forest of Ruin, a forest killed by the pollu-
ted rain that plagues this world. Inside this forest, a city dominated by wo-
men is said to exist.
Enter the center dock house. The mechanic there is an unemployed part up-
grader; like the chassis upgrader at Bazarska, he asks if you know any place
that may be hiring. Say 'yes' and point him to Mado; he'll stand just next to
the chassis upgrader at Nile's Repair Dock - now you have everything you need
for your cars at Mado!
Try to get into the boat and it leaves; looks like Bhab went to Delta Rio.
Go there too and enter the left boathouse. Bhab greets you in, but he doesn't
like dogs, so you have to leave Pochi back. While on the ship, you have full
control of your destination, but Bhab won't let you jump out anywhere. Go to
an island south of Hatoba and enter the house on its edge - that's Bhab's Is-
land.
32 - Bhab Island
----------------
Leave the ship and check the house right next to find Crocodile Boots and
the 155mm Spark. Go to the other house. This is the house Bhab grew up in; he
remembers it used to be so busy... Enter the upper room, and Bhab says you'll
be hunting the U-Shark tomorrow.
The next day, go talk to the old lady. She mentions the U-Shark ate Bhab's
wife and brother. Downstairs, check the refrigerators for a Jellyfish Foot
and a Sea Cucumber Piece. Open the trap door to go to the basement and find
another Jellyfish Foot and Sea Cucumber Piece.
The crosses above are Bhab's family graves. Go back to the ship, and resu-
me the hunt. Keep wandering in the area south of Delta Rio, and the U-Shark
eventually appears.
Boss: U-Shark -------------------------------------------------------------

The U-Shark is very prone to escaping, so firing a Signal Shot isn't
out of question. That aside, he isn't that dangerous.

It often uses its tail to throw waves on you, reducing your hit rate,
and occasionally does some very damaging attacks, but things will be fine
as long as you have the 155mm Spark equipped and some armor tiles on your
cars.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the battle, Bhab returns to his island and tells his wife Eileen and
their kids the enemy is finally gone, and they can rest in peace. He also vi-
sits his brother Chab, who died helping Bhab's cause, to say his vengeance is
over.
With his vengeance achieved, Bhab no longer needs the Nemesis-Gou, so he
gives it to you - Nemesis is the name of a goddess of revenge, and you still
have a revenge to pursue... Return to Delta Rio to get Pochi back on the team
before going to Hatoba.
From Hatoba, use your ship to go south, into a nearby semi-submerged blue
building.
33 - Water Bypass
-----------------
Depending on the tides, different parts of this building are submerged. As
such, depending on your luck, you may come in a time when the water is at the
first floor level, or the second floor level.
If the water's at the first floor, there's nothing to do; you can explore
a few rooms, even go upstairs and downstairs, but it's of no use. Now, if the
water lets you in through the second floor, you can go downstairs into the
first floor and reach a room with a CVC Glove and an O1-IC Chip.
Therefore, if this time you can't get the items, just leave and enter once
again, until you find a 'different' building. Once you get the items, return
to Mado City.
34 - Mado City
--------------
Open the mailbox; among other letters, there's a Challenge Note. Looks li-
ke you've met its writer before; it says he managed to enhance his body after
the Grapplers killed him (!). As you defeated Skunks, he thinks you succeeded
him as one of the four Grappler emperors. He calls you to Swan City to see if
you can defeat him. Signed: "Invincible Upgraded Human".
To discover who's this challenger, go to Islaport, and from there go north
(by water). Follow the coast until you find a place that looks like a duck -
I imagine it's supposed to be a swan: Swan City.
35 - Swan City
--------------
Your challenger is no one less than "Invincible Buggy" Garcia. He's been
spreading a rumour around the city, that you're not much of a good guy, so to
speak. Because of that, don't expect any kindness from the locals.
The Grappler at the back reveals Garcia's enhancements were made by a sci-
entist named Eva. At the basement, people will always block your way, urging
you to duel Garcia before trying to go any further.
At the swan's second floor, go left to reach an open area and talk to the
city elder, Gekangen. He asks if you're Hanta, and if you're really the demon
who killed Garcia's family. If you deny it, Gekangen does believe you, but it
doesn't really matter: you still have to duel Garcia to clear your name.
Put all your best equipment and plenty of healing items on your best figh-
ter, then go to the man guarding the swan's neck. He asks who's going to bat-
tle Garcia; choose your man and have him go up the swan's neck.
At the head, Garcia sees you and says he never expected to fight you...
Boss: Garcia --------------------------------------------------------------

Garcia is a pretty tough enemy, so you better have good equip on. The
Red Peony Vest can absorb much of the damage, so the only times you'll be
damaged at all is when he makes a critical hit (which happens awfully of-
ten).

Attack him whenever possible, healing whenever your HP drops too much.
Your attacks can't hurt him bad, so using items may help. To top it all,
he does drink healing items every now and then - prepare for a very long
battle.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that Garcia's gone, everybody knows you're not evil incarned, so back
down the swan's neck, and get your partners back. Go down the trap door into
the basement - now your path isn't blocked anymore.
Open the box to get the Lock Hacker, a very useful item that can open any
door. Return to Mado City.
36 - Mado City
--------------
Enter the underground shelter and open the corner door with the Lock Hac-
ker to get 1221G and a Gold Bar. Go to the bar and push the top drum to the
side to get an Electric Whip, 4000G, Superhuman Glove, Pow-Wow Gournet and a
Silver Bar.
Now, by using the Lock Hacker, you can open several doors and gain access
to several things you couldn't get before:
- Azusa City: E3-IC Chip inside a safe in the left warehouse.
- Brad Museum: 1370G inside the rightmost safe on the fourth floor.
- Delta Rio: Gum inside Sayuri's ship basement safe (okay, you may not want
this one...).
Silver Bar inside a safe in Eva's ship.
Socks, 7G, Red Peony Vest, Ancient Armor, Shotgun, Iron Clogs,
1450G, Shaggy Wig inside the closed warehouse.
After picking up all these items, return to Mado. Go to the teleport sys-
tem and have yourself transported to Mado (yes, the same place you are now).
I don't know exactly what triggers it, but eventually you'll be teleported to
a different destination - the Noguchi Chemical.
37 - Noguchi Chemical
---------------------
Noguchi Chemical is a totally isolated research facility - its only access
is via teleport system. Open the door with the Lock Hacker to leave the buil-
ding. Enter the house below and hack its door too.
Downstairs, turn on both computer to activate the Zig-Zag Liner Organizer,
and have a conveyor belt bring its product to you. The Organizer manufactured
a Resuscitation Capsule: it can bring one dead character back to life.
You can only have one Resuscitation Capsule at a time, but that's not much
of a problem, since the Noguchi Chemical location is now recorded in the te-
leportation system database - now you can come here whenever you want.
Return to Mado for your cars, then head to Islaport. Board your ship, and
go southwest. Not far from the coast, there's a relatively large island. Jump
off there.
38 - Club Piece of Love
-----------------------
Before entering the house, use the Metal Detector on the top right corner
of the island to find a powerful Scissor Hand for Anne. Club Piece of Love is
managed by two beautiful scientists, Sunny and Luna, who offer bar services
and lodging as well.
Go to the basement to find the teleport system, so you don't have to cross
the lake whenever you want to come here. Then, go to the second floor.
Talk to the leftmost girl. She's Luna, who tells "pieces of love are scat-
tered all over the world". More specifically, she means there are twelve dif-
ferent IC chips available: 3 L's, 3 O's, 3 V's and 3 E's.
Talk to Sunny to learn "gathering all IC chips will grant you a lot of lo-
ve": meaning, you must collect all IC chips and have them delivered to Luna.
Actually, you don't have to pick all twelve chips, but you need at least one
of each letter: if you do, you can configure the Love Machine, a very useful
item.
By now, you should be missing at least an 'L' to spell love. Just deliver
all the IC chips you already have to Luna, then return to Islaport. From the-
re, go north (by ground). Follow the contour of the western mountain bank and
you'll find a clear spot surrounded by trees: another Trader Camp.
39 - Trader Camp 4
------------------
Topic of the moment: rumours are someone exploded the top of the Grapple
Tower and killed its commander Skunks. Some wonder if it was the work of the
female soldier whose brother was killed by the Grapplers...
The top tent sells items. After you're done, leave the camp and go north-
east, into the mountains. The mountains make a maze of sorts, but always try
to go northeast, near the top right corner of the map, you'll reach a city:
Taishar.
40 - Taishar City
-----------------
Taishar is known for having a shrine dedicated to the 'war god'; the shri-
ne is said to keep the actual god's body. To a certain extent, everything in
the city revolves around it: people from all over the world visit it, mainly
traders, who arrive to pray for safe travels.
At the bar/inn you can hear about a place to the south where women use men
as slaves. At the second floor, a man tells you what's being kept at the tem-
ple isn't the true god's body - which was stolen long ago. But, if so, what's
the thing being kept inside the shrine?
Enter the bar through the side stairs to get 3G from a cabinet. Rent the
Pine Room - it's the only way you can enter it. The next morning, talk to the
man standing next to the room's leftmost door: he offers you information, but
you have to pay for it (offer more than 50G and he'll accept). Hachi, the dog
guarding the shrine door, he says, has a strange taste for food - Slimy Cells
are his favorite dish.
At the car equipment store tent, you can hear the stories of an old lady.
Long, long ago, when the world was full of people, the earth suddenly started
to tremble and the sea advanced. To top it all, a poisonous rain fell for a
long time.
Within all this confusion, the world computers rose rebellious against the
humans; they fired missiles at everyone without exception, and paralyzed all
networks. Soon, the whole world was taken by revolts and pillaging. This all
is referred to as the legendary 'great destruction', which destroyed all cul-
ture at once. The actual god's body was stolen during this mess.
Collect 9G, Army Glove and a Bible at the house above the car equip store.
Push the statue above this house to find the teleport system, and a room with
a Para-Non Super, a Blast Hammer and a Refill Drink. Teleport to Mado and ta-
ke back the Slimy Cell you left at the Trunk Room, then come back here.
Go north, through the gate, to find the shrine on the mountain top. Hachi,
the dog, is guarding the shrine and won't let you through no matter what. No,
not really: give him the Slimy Cell and he'll go eat it elsewhere.
Hack the door of the shrine. As the door opens, you can hear the priest's
voice praying for the Grapplers' demise. Look at what they keep as god's body
- a tank! More specifically, the Gepart tank. Pick it up and leave this city.
Return to Islaport and go northeast from there, until you find a passage in
the mountains leading to a forest. This is the Forest of Ruin, and inside it
you'll find the Oil Prospection Site.
41 - Oil Prospection Site
-------------------------
While elsewhere it's said God made women out of men, the women here belie-
ve 'Madam' got pregnant on her own and gave birth to Eve. It's safe to wander
here, because Hanta and Ijiru are thought to be new slaves brought in by Anne
- and they have no idea of what the heck is Pochi.
Inside the building, the slave by the table is using Oyholotoxin to manu-
facture Oyholo Capsules, a powerful pain-relieving medicine. He explains they
(the slave-driving women) use whips and Oyholo Capsules to maintain control
of their slaves.
Large amounts of Oyholotoxin are stored at a house to the south, the home
of a spooky woman known as 'the Madam'. Open the safe to get 2765G, then lea-
ve this place and go south to find the Madam's house: an underground complex
called Protein Palace.
42 - Protein Palace
-------------------
The Protein Palace has some tough security... Cross the corridor, despite
the lasers firing at your every step. Use the computer to shut down the secu-
rity system, so you won't have your ass lasered on the way back.
Past the conveyor belts, there's a Repair Kit on the leftmost room. On the
rightmost room, there's a ladder leading to an Energy Capsule and Cure Drink.
Pick all items up, then go down through the bottom center ladder.
There, you will find more of those security system circles. Fight your way
to the left side passage; the woman abandons her computer, so you can use it
to shut off this floor's security. Return to the corridor with the now deac-
tivated security and step into the teleporter to find an Energy Capsule, Ram-
bo's Bow and a Hydro Pot.
Backtrack to the security computer you just used, and from there go left;
the guard returns, decided not to let you advance - defeat her and her bunch.
Open the armoires above for a Cure Capsule, then go down, following the con-
veyor belt.
By the end of the conveyor belt, the elder tells you the women here aren't
regular ones, but clones made from the the Madam's cells. Use the ladder abo-
ve the elder. The computer operator runs away, leaving you free to turn off
the security system (the lasers to your left).
Go left, into the teleporter, to be moved across the room. Step out of the
teleporter, and right back into the same one again. Use the computer on this
room to turn off the rest of the security system, then go to the leftmost te-
leporter. Chase the woman and defeat her. Go back the ladder you came in th-
rough, back to the room with the elder man.
Take the bottom right ladder to reach an exercise room. Talk to any of the
aerobics-training girls to battle them all. To the left, there are girls wat-
ching the doors; if you missed defeating any of the clones you've met before,
one or more of these doors won't open.
If you defeated all the clones, the guards here will disintegrate at your
touch, leaving the computers for you to open. Go downstairs, into the Madam's
room.
Check the computer near the pod to learn the cloning technology comes from
Brad Corporation. Enter the room to the right to see the Madam exercising; at
the room below, you can find the Oyholotoxin.
Talk to the Madam. She's pissed you destroyed all her beautiful children,
but can make as many more as she wants. Chase her downstairs. She'll be run-
ning into teleporters and, if you just do the same, you'll never catch her.
Run after her to recon the place. At the second run, when you come out in a
room with refrigerators, walk around instead of stepping in the same telepor-
ter she did - you'll catch her at the other side of the room.
Boss: Madam Muscle --------------------------------------------------------

Madam Muscle takes advantage of various sorts of drugs to make herself
stronger and more damaging. Still, she's not much of a threat, provided
| you kept your characters equipment updated; the Scissors Hand you got at ||
the Club Piece of Love come in very handy here... |

The drill is to mantain yourself high on HP, while attacking her with
anything you have; items like Nitro Beers and Freeze Bottles make wonders
against this one...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Having defeated the Madam and obtained the Oyholotoxin, leave this place
and return to Islaport.
43 - Islaport
-------------
Go to the hospital and give the Oyholotoxin to the woman near the computer
so she can make Oyholo Capsules - it takes time to be ready, but she'll spare
you some when it happens.
After you do all you need (save, refill, collect the reward on Madam Mus-
cle, etc.), take your cars and keep walking in the area between Islaport and
the entrance of the Forest of Ruin (the place where the Protein Palace is).
It may take a long time, but you'll eventually stumble on the seventh wanted
monster...
Boss: Kamikaze King -------------------------------------------------------

The Kamikaze King is possibly the most elusive monster in the game, so
don't even think about not using a Signal Shot at him - he's hard to find
and runs away a lot.

To top it all, Kamikaze King is extremely resistent - by now, very few
of your cannons should be able to damage him at all. I'd suggest firing
strong shots like Rocket Shells or Hollow Charges to make a hit; in addi-
tion, a critical hit with these shells would kill him at once.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can now collect your reward on any Hunter Office, and get the Oyholo
Capsule at Islaport's hospital. Go to Delta Rio.
44 - Delta Rio City
-------------------
Talk to the sailor near the top right building; he tells you about a scary
man called Cagliostro, who's been keeping an eye on Eva (remember, she was a-
fraid of this Cagliostro when you first talked to her). The sailor also wants
you to warn Eva rumors are Cagliostro is likely to come here.
Go to Eva's boat (right of the Salvage building) talk to her - she doesn't
say anything different. Try to leave the boat and the sailor you just talked
to arrives; you saved him a lot of trouble, he says, by helping him find Eva.
He's the one who started the rumor in the first place.
Eva immediately recognizes Cagliostro's voice. He's one of the four Grap-
pler emperors, and says even escaping the Devil Island won't set Eva free and
she, more than anybody else, should know the terrors the four Grappler empe-
rors are capable of.
She begs Cagliostro to let her go, because she can't stand doing such hor-
rible experiments for the Grapplers anymore, and would rather die than retur-
ning to the Devil Island. Saying she can whine later, Cagliostro bops you out
of his way and kidnaps Eva.
Prepare yourself well (armor tiles and Tile Packs, healing items, powerful
shells) before taking your ship. Go south from Islaport, following the coast,
into a river. At end of this river, there's a tunnel - enter it.
45 - Dark Canal
---------------
Jump off at the coast right above, and get a Medikit from the box. Use the
stairs on the bottom left corner to reach the basement. Use the stairs to the
right to reach a computer; use it to open the passage above. Go back to your
ship.
Ignoring the passage you just opened, go right and jump off when you find
a stairway to the basement. Use these stairs and go down a couple of floors,
until you reach a larger room with a stairway just next. Ignore these nearby
stairs and go down to find another stairway. Use the computer to unblock the
waterway above, then return to your ship.
Go to the ledge right below and down the ramp, then down another ramp, in-
to a larger room. Go left and up the stairs, then into the stairs right below
to get the V1-IC Chip. Go back down, then left, to find a stairway leading to
a room with a Refill Drink, Evil's Bromide and a Gauntlet. Return to the ship
and go to the right, through the passage you unblocked.
Ignore the first entrance after the block, and go into the second to find
a E1-IC Chip on a box. Go to the ledge to the right and up the stairs. There,
avoid the dogs and go left and down, using a ramp to reach a room with a com-
puter.
Use the computer to open the door, then use the stairs below the computer
to find a room with a Jellyfish Foot and Pow-Wow Gourmet. Return to your cars
and use the door you just opened, going up the ramp. With the cars, fight the
dogs, then go to the bottom right corner of the room.
Cagliostro's there, and welcomes his guests - visits don't come often. In
time, he identifies you as those who led him to Eva. With some more thinking,
he asks if you're the ones who defeated Skunks.
No matter what you answer, Cagliostro says Eva's dying soon, and you can
follow her to hell. He jumps in his vehicle, and attacks you:
Boss: Cagliostro ----------------------------------------------------------

First, you must fight Cagliostro's tank, the CaglioBattler. It's a re-
gular tank and, as such, should be defeated with heavy artillery: Hollow
Charges, and whatever strong stuff you have.

After taking down the CaglioBattler, Cagliostro comes to fight you by
himself. He often charges up energy, to use it in powerful attacks, the
worst one being the Cagliostro Flash. Use your main cannons' regular at-
tacks, as well as any S-E shots you have, and pray he doesn't use Flash
often.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
After defeating Cagliostro, go to Eva. She recognizes you, and introduces
herself as Eva Grey, a scientist that used to work at Devil Island. By order
of the Grapplers, she performed 'lifeform enhancements' on several people and
animals, many of which died.
Eva says it's not the four emperors who manage the entire Grappler system.
The name of the true governor of the Grapplers is 'Bias Brad'. Before dying,
she begs you to kill Brad...
Open the boxes to get Eva's Memo and a Electric Whip. Return to the ship,
and go right and down, to exit the Canal. Go south to find a city near the
coast and enter it.
46 - Moro Poko City
-------------------
As soon as you enter, talk to the two people stansing still above; they're
scared by something they call "Stepladder Rah". Get your reward on Cagliostro
at the Hunter Office to the right. The teleport system is downstairs.
Go to the second floor, using the stairs to the right. Buy any equipment
you want for your people there, as well as car equipment for your cars on the
first floor. After that, go to Swan City.
From Swan, go north, into the main land. As soon as you reach a wide open
space, with lots of propellers, explore its southwestern corner to discover a
Trader Camp.
47 - Trader Camp 5
------------------
On the bottom tent, if you buy anything you can talk to the man on the top
and he'll let you use the sleeping bags. The trader on the top tent says tho-
se propellers were used to collect wind power - to generate electric energy,
he thinks.
Leave the Trader Camp and go east, following the river course to the north
until you find a place where you must leave your cars to go down a slope. En-
ter this slope and you'll reach a house...
48 - Philosophy Pond
--------------------
The woman at the kitchen is actually a robot; she greets you and lets you
rest in the next room. Go upstairs and check the armoires to get a Rocket Fi-
rework.
Go to the trampoline, and a creature will appear. He says his name is Zen,
and is quite surprised to be alive and thinking. He asks if you want to talk
to him. He has some existential questions, and nothing you answer really sol-
ve his problems.
Leave this house and return to your cars. Go straight north from here, and
you'll find a house on the northeastern corn of this plain.
49 - Personnel Housing
----------------------
This used to be the residential area of all the workers of the Wind Power
Plant, but they all became unemployed after some event. At the leftmost house
you're told the Grapplers invaded the plant; oddly, the security system did
nothing against them.
Some people are suspicious a man named Pedro stole the staff ID Cards for
the Grapplers, allowing them to deactivate the security system. Check the se-
cond and fourth houses from the left for an L1-IC Chip and Earth's Tail - e-
quip this last one on Pochi, and don't forget to turn it on.
At the rightmost house, push the drawer rack to find a stairway. Go down
to find Pedro. He says the Grapplers promised him 10000G if he let them dodge
the security system; with this money, he planned to escape this place.
He proposes giving you an ID Card if you keep his hideout secret from the
rest of the staff. If you refuse he'll fight you, but he's really weak. No
matter what you answer, get the ID Card and an Evil's Bromide from the boxes.
Leave this place and go southwest, into the large building - the Wind Power
Plant.
50 - Wind Power Plant
---------------------
The leftmost house has a Pochi Mask, but you have to enter it from behind.
Enter the building to the right. There, enter the right door: Control Room 1.
Use the ID Card on all computers to deactivate the security system, then go
through the corridor.
On the next room, go right to find a Bulletproof Vest at the box. Head to
the top of the room and go right, down the stairs. Cross this room to reach
its bottom right corner - don't talk to the guy on the top left corner. Use
the computer to turn off the security system and get a Fireman Suit from the
box. Return to first floor, the same way you came in.
Back upstairs, go left. Enter the room and use the computer to turn off
the patrol robots and get a Fire Extinguisher, Evil's Bromide and Energy Cap-
sule. Go back downstairs, and to the bottom right corner again, but this time
use the stairs to go down.
There, use them computer to turn the elevator on, then take the elevator
back to 1F. Retrieve your cars, and take them into the elevator. Go to B1 and
talk to the man in the top left corner - he's the ninth wanted monster, the
Dust Caveman.
Boss: Dust Caveman --------------------------------------------------------

The Dust Caveman's main attack is an electric one, which doesn't cause
much damage against your cars, and Pochi should be well protected against
it with its Earth's Tail.

With the defense taken care of, just fire any powerful shells you have
and your S-E attacks. The Dust Caveman shouldn't last long.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leave the Power Plant and return to Moro Poko.
51 - Moro Poko City
-------------------
Try to use the stairs near the people scared at Stepladder Rah to be at-
tacked by this monster - a stepladder, really. Defeat him and people will re-
cognize you as the great, famous hunter who's fighting the Grapplers.
Talking to everyone, you're told about the city of Death Cross - it's said
those who go there never leave - and about Batoh, a great scientist, although
a bit crazy. Use the stairs behind the bar (at the rightmost point of the ci-
ty) to get a Cure Drink.
At the second floor, you learn about a place called 'Dead End Cave', which
has, as its name implies, no exit. However, some people say it actually goes
very deep. Also, to the north there's a mansion, which used to be a holiday
house of very rich people.
At the third floor, fall through the bottom center hole to pick a Copper
Bar from the refrigerator. Once you're sure you have good equipment for your
cars, go to Taishar and buy Hollow Charges, unless you already have plenty.
Then, go to Islaport, pick up your ship, and roam at the river that led into
the entrance of the Dark Canal, and the tenth wanted monter appears:
Boss: Total Turtle --------------------------------------------------------

The Total Turtle's attacks are freeze-based; not very damaging, but it
causes further damage after every turn, and this may pile up into a big
damage before you notice - particularly bad for Pochi, who doesn't have a
car to hide in.

Still, the greatest problem with this turtle is its huge armor (what'd
you expect from a turtle?), which requires Hollow Charges or very strong
cannons to cause significant damage. However, under the shell the Total
Turtle doesn't have a high HP, so the Hollow Charges should do the job
quickly.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
After killing the Total Turtle, go to Moro Poko and, from there, use your
ship to cross the river; at the eastern margin of the river, go southeast to
find another Trader Camp.
52 - Trader Camp 6
------------------
There's nothing special at this camp; no powerful weapons, but it's the
only place that sells the ArcaDon, if you're in the mood to spend 49800G into
something that doesn't help at all...
Leave this camp and go north to find a single house at the north margin of
the lake.
53 - Blue Moon House
--------------------
Try talking to one of the tennis-playing people to see what happens... and
notice the tennis sounds keep on going even after that.
Inside the house, Sailor grow amoebas for food in the pool. They tell this
used to be the house of the president of the Brad Conglomerate, a famous sci-
entist called Bias Brad.
In order to solve the planet's environmental pollution problems, he built
a Wind Power Plant and a Lake Purification Plant, and became a nearly heroic,
well-respected politician. However, his life was abruptly shaken when he con-
tracted an incurable disease.
The professor changed after realizing he couldn't survive his disease: he
gave up all his enterprises and secluded himself in research. Coincidentally,
the legendary great destruction came right at that time. To this date, no one
knows what happened to Professor Brad...
About the ghosts, one of them thinks the older one is Brad himself. You
can talk to the sailor on the bottom right corner to sleep over. After that,
leave this house and go west, into another small house near a pond.
54 - Monkey Center
------------------
Go right and downstairs; the plaques say this is a 'monkey mountain', but
there are only pigs living here. Return to the first floor, go left and up-
stairs. Talk to the guys to learn they're researching pigs - one of them ac-
tually says maybe humans evolved from them, since their internal organ arran-
gement isn't that different...
Apparently, back when monkeys were being studied here, the boss monkey was
one named Skunks. In the middle of the confusion caused by the great destruc-
tion, all monkeys were taken by the Brad Industries for experiments.
Look at the computers to read reports that Skunks was unusually irritated,
and trating the younger males with increasing hostility. After a male monkey
is defeated on a power struggle, his fate is pretty miserable. On August 3rd,
Skunks started acting violently, probably trying to keep his females...
Leave this building, and go north from the Blue Moon House to find the en-
trance to the Dead End Cave.
55 - Dead End Cave
------------------
It does look like there's nowhere to go, but check the split wall below to
attack and open a passage. Open the boxes for Pow-Wow Gourmet and Grad Boots.
The ramp leading to B2F is to the left, but first use the Metal Detector on
the area below it to find the 16mm Machinegun. Go down the ramp.
At B2F, shoot the wall blocking your way to the box and get the IM Histe-
ric. Get a Pochi Cylinder from the box above, but don't use the stairs. Re-
trieve your cars and check the area below the ramp leading to B3F to find the
120mm Cannon, then go down the ramp.
At B3F, go down and get a Coolie engine from the box. Follow the path wi-
thout destroying any walls and you'll get to B4F.
At B4F, go left and destroy the first split wall you see, then destroy a-
nother one below. Check the area to your right to find a Strong Coolie and
then go left to a box with an AM Patriot. Return to the very top of the floor
(before you destroyed the first wall) and go left, breaking the wall you find
there. Open the box to get an Acceleneuman.
The area between the two boxes you opened has an 150mm Cannon buried. Head
to the bottom of the screen and go right from there; destroy the split wall
to reach the ramp leading to the fifth underground floor.
At B5F, go up, around the pond. Behind the pond, there's a slope that al-
lows you to get to a somewhat narrow ledge. Walk this ledge until you find a
breakable wall - destroy it. You'll release the water of the ponds, revealing
a tank hidden underwater.
Get the tank - it's the Mammute - and get out of this cave, back to Mado.
56 - Mado City
--------------
Equip the Mammute or drop it at the garage - either way you probably have
to leave one car there. After that, go to Moro Poko and take your ship; sail
around the lake above Moro Poko and you'll eventually stumble on the eleventh
wanted monster (you may want everyone using earplugs, though):
Boss: Hitoderon -----------------------------------------------------------

Most times, Hitoderon attacks by using its speakers to confuse you, in
which case the earplugs are a gift from heaven. It can also use its sound
attacks to cause damage, but in this case you won't hurt much.

That aside, Hitoderon does have quite a high HP, but your regular wea-
pons should be able to take care of the job, provided you have good large
cannons and S-Es. Damaging shells, like Grenades and Napalm Shells, also
help, but don't panic if you don't have any of these.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
After defeating Hitoderon, return to Islaport. From there, go south. Below
the Dark Canal entrance, there's a ledge (already at the southern margin of
the lake). Jump off at this coast and you'll soon reach a gate.
57 - North Gate
---------------
Use the computer to open the gate and cross it. From there, go west quick-
ly to avoid being hit by the enemy artillery. Use the Metal Detector often to
find several Iron Scraps buried, plus a Nitro Shower (on a forest to the nor-
th), an Acceleneuman and a 177mm Amorph.
At the northwestern end of this place, you can find a Trader Camp.
58 - Trader Camp 7
------------------
This camp has no particularly useful items... Buy what you want, then lea-
ve the camp and go west. Far west, near the end of these plains, you'll find
the Batoh Resarch Laboratory.
59 - Batoh Research Laboratory
------------------------------
Go to the basement and talk to Professor Batoh. He calls himself just an
old, pitiful lonely man. If you become his friends, he will manufacture a new
tank for you in gratitude.
Accept his offer. He'll ask you to choose a nickname to call you by. None
of the nicknames is even close to being pleasant, but choose one anyway. Now
you're ready to configure your next tank.
Once you have the tank you want configured, you must provide the raw mate-
rial to manufacture it. Take the Iron Scraps you have so far and give them to
Thursday, Batoh's robot assistant.
If the scraps you already collected aren't enough, you can roam around and
get more Iron Scraps from enemies (Missiler or T99 Gorilla, for example); in
the meantime, the configuration you chose will be recorded (and you can chan-
ge it if you want).
After you delivered enough scraps, have Batoh build the tank you want. You
get an extra gift: you can pick the new tank's equipment from a list - choose
wisely, because Batoh will only give this gift once.
Once you get the production started, it takes one day for Batoh to have it
ready. Go sleep somewhere and come back here to find Batoh just finishing the
new tank. Pick the new tank up: that's your No.8 vehicle.
Take the very useful Laser Gorgon from the box to the left. If you want to
change your tank design, talk to Batoh anytime - you have to give your older
design away so it can be recycled. Go to Delta Rio.
60 - Delta Rio
--------------
Go to Maririn's house. Read Eva's Memo (which you got after defeating Cag-
liostro). It says you "cannot defeat Brad without shutting down the Cyclotron
at the Bias City underground. The password to access the Cyclotron Control is
recorded on Maririn's cybernetic brain. Turn the switch on Maririn's back to
have her repeat the password".
Look at Maririn's back to find the switch Eva was talking about, and flip
it down. She'll repeat the password recorded on her - write it down.
Prepare for battle and go to Delta Rio. From there, take your ship and go
west. Cannons will start firing at you, but ignore them and enter the tunnel
at the island - Devil Island.
61 - Devil Island
-----------------
The Devil Island houses a Grappler research facility, where they run grue-
some experiments on people and animals. Cross the canal to reach the building
basement, where you can pick a E3-IC Chip and a Silver Denture.
You can also talk to the prisoners, all captured on the Grapplers' people
hunts, and likely to be combined with the animals on the cage below. The dead
are disposed of via conveyor belt - and they're the lucky ones.
At the first floor, the shutters can't be opened from here, so go left and
upstairs. At 2F, the only room you can enter is Eva Grey's personal room, but
there's nothing useful there. Go upstairs through the bottom left stairway.
On 3F, open the boxes for a E3-IC Chip and a Bible. The drunken scientists
are the ones responsible for making the 'upgraded humans' for the Grapplers.
Return to 2F and go up via any of the other stairs.
The wandering robot complains Eva Grey ran away before completing him, and
now he cannot infiltrate himself at a city. The Maririn robots talk just like
the one at Delta Rio - you can even flip the switches on their backs to make
them repeat the password. Go up and left to get to 4F.
The security system is there again, but you can simply walk around it. Get
a Refill Drink from the box, then use the top right stairs. At 5F, get the E-
vil's Bromide from the box, destroy the security system to the left and head
right to pick a Speed Tab before using the bottom right stairs.
At 6F, open the box for 2650G and go back down to 5F. Use the bottom left
stairs to return to 6F, and get a Refill Drink, Energy Capsule and Cure Drink
from the top right boxes. Take the stairs up.
At 7F, go up to find a Rasher Mike. At the top right corner, you can find
the stairs leading to 8F. There, push the cannons off the building, so they
won't fire at you anymore whenever you approach this island. Get the Shield
Cape, Energy Capsule, Refill Drink and Repair Kit from the boxes inside the
top left room.
Return to 7F and try to reach the bottom left corner, destroying all the
security systems you find. Once you reach this room, the complex leader, Bull
Frog, challenges you to catch him. Chase him until he reaches the computer.
Bull Frog turns on the warning system switch, and runs to the teleporter,
still challenging you to come after him. Don't step into his teleporter; ins-
tead, return on foot to the first floor. When he activated the warning sys-
tem, Bull Frog opened all the shutters on the building, leaving you free to
enter all rooms - and letting anything inside to come out.
The meaning of all this is: on your trip down, you'll face random battles.
While going down the building, remember to get all items that were behind the
shutters before:
6F: 3119G, Synchronizer
4F: Pochi Blizzard, O3-IC Chip
Once you finally return to 1F, board your cars and go down. You will find
Bull Frog, who sends in two tanks to fight you - if you had used the teleport
on 7F, you'd have to fight these tanks without your vehicles, and would pro-
bably be killed.
With your tanks, the two T99 Gorillas are no big deal. Once they're gone,
Bull Frog comes himself...
Boss: Bull Frog -----------------------------------------------------------

Bull Frog first appears boarding his own tank, the BullCruiser. If you
have the Laser Gorgon, turn it on and have whoever is using it defend the
other tanks. Even if you don't have it, no big deal: just fire your main
cannons at him, and some Hollow Charges if you want.

When the time comes to fight Bull Frog himself, you'll find him pretty
easy: although he has some very damaging attacks, his armor is low, so a
few main gun rounds and S-E attacks will have him killed in no time.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
After Bull Frog's demise, go up and use the stairs leading down to go into
the basement, and from there to B2F. Pick an Oyholo Capsule and E3-IC Chip.
Return to 1F, board your cars and go up the nearest ramp for one Earth Chain
and one Northern Wind. Leave this place and go to Moro Poko.
From Moro Poko, go southeast. At the very bottom right corner of the map,
you can find the Laser Bazooka buried. Then, go west until you find a gate in
the mountains.
62 - Southern Gate
------------------
No big deal, just have the computer open the gates and go west until you
find a small garage in the desert.
63 - Caterpillar Village
------------------------
On the Caterpillar Village, if you like cars you're most welcome. There, a
lot of people will get to see your cars and envy you. Learn about the rumors
that tanks are hiding inside the Rain Valley.
The Rain Valley is north, and has this name because heavy rain falls in it
all over the year. Once you bought all you want, leave and head northwest to
find another Trader Camp.
64 - Trader Camp 8
------------------
Not much to do here... No important items for sale, just the information
there's a huge waterfall on the Rain Valley, which rises a heavy, polluted
mist.
Go east to find a village in the middle of a forest.
65 - Human Village
------------------
While in the Caterpillar Village everyone loves cars, at the Human Village
the dominant thought is people are meant to walk on their own feet.
This place dells some powerful equipment, but they're also very expensive,
so don't buy much, as there are more shops to come. Once you're done, go nor-
thwest until you find the valley, then go east until you find a city.
66 - Death Cross City
---------------------
The sign on the door says: "Freedom Paradise: Death Cross". It doesn't ta-
ke much effort to realize what Death Cross was originally meant to be... And
yet, the fame this city has ("whoever enters this place never leaves") is at-
tributed to the fact this city is such an awesome place to live...
Just to begin with, you meet the PichiPichi Brothers at the Memory Center.
They still won't fight you, claiming you're not of their level. At the visit
room (to your left), the old man is talking to his son, and is hearing such
great things about this place he's considering entering here himself.
You're not allowed to enter Death Cross without submitting yourself to an
inspection first, to preserve the city's status as a peaceful utopia. Unequip
all your headgear, and make sure the last equipment slot of all your charac-
ters is empty.
Check the counter next to the gate to be inspected. The only rule in Dea-
th Cross is that all people must wear Angel Rings when going inside. The ins-
pector gives each of you Angel Rings (if you're wearing any headgear, he'll
take it away from you to replace it for the Ring; if you're not using a head
protection, he'll take whatever is on your last equipment slot).
With the Angel Rings you're good to cross the main gate, but notice Pochi
isn't on the team and you can't unequip the Angel Rings. Enter the visit room
and talk to the old man's son: he says you have to think very well what you
tell people about this place...
Leaving the gate building, enter the first door to the right. Turns out it
is impossible to defeat the jail guards while you're wearing the Angel Rings:
the guards use something called 'Shock Remote' to paralyze you all.
Losing to a guard leaves no further consequences - you just return to your
cell. Fight the guard blocking the counter entrance to find out where's your
cell. Talk to the other inmates (all over the prison) to learn all about this
place: the Angel Rings, as you know, are used to control the inmates and pre-
vent riots.
When someone dies, his body is thrown at the sewers - for all you know, it
is the only way people ever get out of here. However, one person successfully
escaped Death Cross: he worked at the kitchen, and lived at cell 109 (remem-
ber the nightmare-suffering man at the Islaport hospital?). Visiting cell 109
doesn't reveal anything about his escape, though.
The furniture sold at the entrance Interior Shop is made on the north wing
- there, you can learn there's a room to the north of the Shop where you can
control the prison's power supply. Without energy, all Angel Rings would stop
working.
Leave the main building, and reach the prison's bottom right corner, where
there are five drums in a row. Talk to the guard: you must push the drums, to
earn today's meal. Push all drums to the right and talk to him again: he cal-
ls you slow, and tells you to push the drums back. Do so, and you'll gain the
right to eat.
Return to the main building and exit it through the west wing door. Becau-
se you've earned the right to eat, the guard lets you into the meal room. You
cannot enter the kitchen itself, however (because you don't work there), so
eat your meal (the dish on the table) and go to sleep.
The next day, go to the drum-pushing exercise. Unlike the first time, the
guard will tell you to push the drum several times. Obey him, and remember to
talk to him after each set of drum-pushing. In time, the guard will be plea-
sed with you, and assigns you a new job: kitchen work.
Now that you're kitchen staff, you can enter the kitchen. Do NOT open the
box: it contains a Fruit Knife, but if you pick it up the guard'll shock your
ass back into your cell. Instead, open the armoire for a Broken Spoon.
Go to the east wing. The man on cell 108 tells he used to hear some noises
from cell 109 at night... Go to cell 109 and push the cupboard to the right,
revealing a dirt spot. Use the Broken Spoon on this spot to dig a tunnel and
enter it.
The sewers are quite complex, but the enemies are very weak, so explore a-
round to find 1875G, Refill Drink, Oyholo Capsule, Maria's Rocket, L2-IC Chip
and Concentrated Methyl.
There are three ladders leading out of the sewers: one on the right, which
leads to the outside of Death Cross - don't use it; one on the center, which
leads to the very center of the prison; and one at the dungeon's bottom left
corner - use this one.
You'll come out in the room north of the Interior Shop. Get an Earth Tail
from the box and use the computer to turn off the energy. Back to the sewer,
use the ladder that leads to the center of the prison.
Now that the Angel Rings don't work anymore, beat the hell out of the jail
guards and go upstairs. Climb the tower until you reach its eighth floor, and
confront the prison leader. He is...
Boss: Skunks Copy ---------------------------------------------------------

He is a copy of Skunks, alright. By now, however, even if you have no
tanks or Pochi, you should be able to simply overpower him, so there's no
real strategy on defeating him.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pick the Shock Remote from the box Skunks Copy was guarding. With it, you
can play prison guard and shock everyone at Death Cross ^^.
Without Skunks Copy's clique on top, Death Cross becomes a regular city.
Return to the entrance and get Pochi Back. You can also get in with your cars
now. Notice also the barricade to the west of Death Cross is no longer there,
shortening your trip to Batoh's Lab.
From Death Cross, go south, down the ramp, into the Rain Valley. There, go
west to find another city: Melt Town.
67 - Melt Town
--------------
Because the rain pouring on the Rain Valley is polluted, the Melt Town in-
habitants have to grow their food indoors. Fortunately, they have access to a
clean water supply, which saved their bacon.
Go to the bar to learn there's a place called Bias City on top of the wa-
terfall. Bias City was originally built by one Brad Corporation to host seve-
ral experiments. Legend says it had something to do with the legendary great
destruction... Even nowadays the horrible sounds from that place's machinery
can occasionally be heard.
About the rumors there's a tank hidden at the Rain Valley, the locals call
it absurd. Several stupid hunters came here in search of it before, and they
all failed. Actually, the main income source of this city is the money wasted
by the car-seeking hunters...
Pay a drink to the waitress, and she tells you about a tool called Synch-
ronizer, which works like the Lock Hacker, but it doesn't open regular doors.
Well, you do have a Synchronizer (from the Devil Island), but no unusual door
to use it in.
Get a Pine Bathrobe from an armoire in the inn's best room. Go outside th-
ough the door near the inn counter, then open the hatch and go into the sewa-
ge system.
From the ladder, go right to get a Polymer Liquid, and left to get the po-
werful TNT Paranoia. Leave through the same ladder you entered, and back into
Melt Town.
Go outside again, this time through the door on the farming area (near the
chicken yard). Enter the hatch there. What you'll find in this corner of the
sewers? The PichiPichi Brothers. This time, however, the older brother does
consider you fit to fight them, but will give you a chance to escape - refuse
it.
Boss: PichiPichi Brothers--------------------------------------------------

At last, the PichiPichi Brothers. Their attacks are somewhat powerful,
but notice the older Pichi may not even damage you at first, because of
your protectors.

Basically, the older Pichi uses widespread attacks, while the younger
one relies on focused, more powerful shots. So, once the little (?) one
breaks someone's protector, this character becomes particularly vulnera-
ble to the big one's attacks.

This kinda goes both ways, though: at first, you won't be able to hurt
any of them bad, but the damage escalates once you crack their protectors
- but doing this may be hard to begin with. Also, they both tend to heal
each other, as well as themselves.

It doesn't really make much difference which Pichi you kill first, as
they're both so damn annoying. If you have Doping Tabs, or something da-
maging set on the Love Machine (the 2322 configuration, for example), it
would be a good time to use them. Don't forget to watch your own HP, by
the way.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
With the Pichis finally out of your way, collect the bounty of the boxes:
Kevlar Glove, L1-IC Chip, 2 CVC Suits and a Gauntlet. The PichiPichi Brothers
were also the thirteenth wanted monsters, but were worth a really crummy re-
ward...
Equip your tanks well, for now you'll hunt yet another wanted monster. On-
ce ready, wander in the desert southeast of the Human Village to find...
Boss: Daidaroz-------------------------------------------------------------

Well, Daidaroz is clearly a tank, and you should know by now what it
calls for: Hollow Charges. They're particularly damaging against any me-
chanical enemy, and Daidaroz is no different. The charges aren't as very
damaging as one would expect, but, with a little luck, they'll tear down
Daidaroz's guts and disable some of his attacks.

Daidaroz occasionally calls a couple of Mechanicopters to cover him,
but those can be easily defeated - the problem is they can repair Daida-
roz's damaged parts and reload his ammo, not to mention boost his stats.
So, taking them down quickly with a grenade or a group attack would be a
very nice thing.

If you have an anti-missile measure (AM Patriot, Laser Gorgon) equip-
ped, remember to turn it on immediately. Pochi won't be of much use here,
as he probably won't even scratch Daidaroz, nor attack the Mechanicopters
when they show up...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Having defeated Daidaroz, how about going after yet another wanted monster
- and a much worse one? Purchase really good equipment, if you haven't alrea-
dy done so before Daidaroz, and pile up Hollow Charges and Patri Shots.
As soon as you're ready, wander in the Rain Valley to meet the next wanted
monster - and maybe regret it...
Boss: Battleshipsaurus-----------------------------------------------------

Damn, that's one big monster... And with firepower to match the size.
As a matter of fact, the Battleshipsaurus is so big it takes time to even
acknowledge your presence, so you have a chance to fire a few rounds at
him before he even reacts.

Use Hollow Charges, not so much for the damage as for for the hope you
inutilize its main gun - because, when he does wake up to your existance,
this cannon is merciless.

If he hits Pochi with his cannon, chances are your dog'll be dead re-
gardless of how strong he is, so maybe you should have someone with a La-
se Gorgon or AM Patriot defend Pochi. However, this'll make no difference
if the monster decides to make a group attack: two of those will have Po-
chi killed.

Despite any strategies, the Battleshipsaurus battle is, ultimately, a
matter of firing whatever you have and praying to connect plenty of cri-
tical hits, while hoping he doesn't get to do the same.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
After defeating the Battleshipsaurus and collecting the reward, make sure
you have the best personal equipment, and have the Love Machine configured to
the 3322 mode; Mirror Coats may be useful too. From Melt Town, go west until
you find a ramp that takes you out of the valley.
Outside the valley, take the concrete road above to reach the entrance to
the mysterious Bias City.
68 - Bias City
--------------
The first thing you meet is a door the Lock Hacker cannot open. You proba-
bly already figured out you must use the Synchronizer in it.
As soon as you're in, enter the building to the left to pick a Polymer Li-
quid and Earth Tail. Go up the ladder, and follow the only available path un-
til you reach the basement. There, use the computer; have it display its in-
ternal memory contents to read a password: write it down.
Still on this basement, use the second ladder (not the one you came in th-
rough) to leave the building. Enter the building above and go down the ladder
to reach another part of the basement. Take the bottom ladder to reach a Kev-
lar Glove and Saratoga Suit, then backtrack all the way to your cars.
Go northeast, into a small room by the wall. Use the computer to find ano-
ther password, and write it down too. Leave this room, and go all the way to
the very top left corner of the city, where you'll find two small buildings.
Check the armoires inside them to find the ID Card 2.
Leave these buildings and go right. Enter the first door you see, and you
will be at a room full of generators. Go up and into the ramp; check the ar-
moires to find the ID Card 3.
Leave this building and enter the door just southeast. You will find your-
self before a huge shutters. There are two rooms, to your left and right. Use
the Lock Hacker on them.
On each computer, type in one of the passwords you just learned; after you
do this, notice the red light on each of the shutter's doors turns off. Once
both lights are off, the shutter opens. Enter the shutter... and you'll find
another shutter.
To open this one, use the terminals on the sides. Use the ID Cards 2 and 3
to gain access to the system and call 'open'. Once this shutter is open, you
have access to an elevator. Don't use it just yet, though: instead, leave the
city and have yourself re-equipped, because chances are you're out of healing
items and protectors.
69 - Mado City
--------------
Store or sell all items you won't need anymore, like the ID Cards, Synch-
ronizer and Protector Scraps. Buy a good amount of Refill Drinks, protectors
and Doping Tabs, and also get your cars reloaded. If you have a Concentrated
Methyl, carry it with yourself.
Remember to have Mirror Coats installed, especially if you had your cars
washed. Once you're set, return to Bias City to pick up where you left.
70 - Bias City
--------------
Enter the elevator and go to B1, where you'll find a shutter with two com-
puter terminals. You're supposed to use the terminals to open the gates, but
they won't respond - turns out they have "fail-safe locks" that must be disa-
bled before you can access them. Go right and down the stairs.
On B2, use the computer below to open the door, then return to B1 and head
right, using the eastern stairs to reach another part of B2. Go left to open
the door, then back right and down: you'll find the first fail-safe lock com-
puter on the bottom right corner of the floor. Turn off the computer, then go
left; open the door and use the nearest stairs.
At B3, go right to reach a room with two stairs. The top stairs lead back
to B2 (near the first fail-safe computer); the bottom ones are a monster. Ei-
ther way, ignore the stairs and head towards the top right corner of B3.
The plate between the skeletons is the second fail-safe lock: turn it off,
then keep going up. You're gonna get lasered by the wall sensors, but push on
until you find a room with two computers: one of them is the third fail-safe
lock and the other controls the security system - turn both off, then return
to the room where you started this floor.
From this room, go left. You have to cross yet another round of laser wal-
ls; once you're out of these lasers, have all your characters reload their HP
and equip protectors. The next room holds your greatest enemy...
Boss: Ted Broiler----------------------------------------------------------

Ted Broiler is amazed you puny humans made it this far, but now you've
run out of luck. His master Bias Brad has evolved into an immortal exis-
tance, and Ted Broiler too desires immortality. Without you on his way he
should have his path clear to receive this gift.

On most RPGs, when you meet an invincible enemy very soon in the game,
you're usually given the opportunity to face him later, when you're able
to match his power. Ted Broiler is one of those enemies... almost.

You've grown a lot since you first fought Broiler, but he's still way,
way out of your league. With a strong flame attack, plus his group attack
'Ted Fire', Ted Broiler can roast you faster than you can heal yourself.
That's where the Love Machine comes in: in its 3322 configuration, it ge-
nerates an Anti-Heat Barrier on your entire party. With this defense, Ted
will have most of his attacks rendered useless!

Notice, however, that the Love Machine won't get your HP totally safe.
Some damage may slip through - especially if he makes a critical hit, and
Broiler still has a non-fire attack, the 'Mohican Slugger', against which
you have no special defense. You better have plenty of healing goods and
protectors to mantain your HP in an acceptable level, although that might
not be enough to deal with a Broiler's critical hit.

If worrying about your defense isn't enough, Broiler is very difficult
to damage at all: unless your levels are very high, only Anne will cause
regular damage on him; the others' shots will bounce off. Doping Tabs can
take care of this problem, at least for a while; also, a Concentrated Me-
thyl attack is often more damaging than a regular weapon.

To top it all, Broiler still uses Refill Drinks sometimes... No matter
how well prepared you are, defeating Ted Broiler is always a long, frus-
trating duel. Patience and a big item stockpile are mandatory to win this
one, as is a little luck.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once Ted Broiler is defeated, check the computers; like those on the oppo-
site side of this floor, one computer controls the security system and the o-
ther is the fourth (and last) fail-safe lock. Turn both off and return to B1,
where you'll board your cars.
With all four fail-safe locks turned off, use the left-side terminal to o-
pen the shutter. Past the shutter, use the ramp to descend into B2, and from
there to B3, where you can see an elevator above. Since this elevator doesn't
seem to be working, go down to find a ramp leading to B4.
Go to the bottom right corner of the floor, ignoring all ramps in the way.
Read the notebook: "Brad's memory transplantation started... It's possible to
have a computer duplicate the Professor's personality, thanks to his own cal-
culations; behind that force field, Brad will have a new life..."
The computers tell all of Professor Brad's nervous system data were trans-
ferred into an asynchronous supercomputer, which should be able to reproduce
all of Brad's memories and personality. Go to the top left corner of the flo-
or, where you'll find stairs leading to B5.
At B5, use the teleporter to the right. As soon as you appear on the other
side, use the computer to the left to turn off the 'Clone Soldier Organizer'
before fighting the two Grapplers - if you defeat them with the organizer on,
replacement soldiers appear out of nowhere.
Enter the vent near the computer and walk all the way to its end to find a
room with two computers; use them to open some doors, then use the vent again
to return to the teleporter. Return to B4 and retrieve your tanks. With them,
go right and use the first ramp you see.
Operate the computer just below you to turn on the elevator; from here, go
right and down. Use a ramp to go to B6, where you can find the Elephant, your
last tank. Also, notice behind the Elephant, and on the rooms left and right
of it, there are safes, where you can find a V48 Kong, a 225mm Hydra and Sun-
burn XX. Now, with the Elephant on tow, Use the Dog System to leave this dun-
geon and return to Mado City.
71 - Mado City
--------------
Choose whatever tanks you want to take along and equip the very best stuff
on them. If possible, have you cars equip anything that protects them against
electric attacks, and apply another Mirror Coat round on them. Buy a few Hol-
low Charges, and maybe some Napalm Shells.
For your people, make sure Pochi has the Earth Tail and that it's activa-
ted. Buy plenty of Refill Drinks, and give Pochi some (many) Pow-Wow Gourmets
to rise his stats. Also, have the Love Machine configured to 3112.
Once you're ready, back once again to Bias City...
72 - Bias City
--------------
Enter the elevator at B3, and have it take you to the B6 floor. There, mo-
ve down, fighting the security system at every other step (if you have Mirror
Coats on, things should be easier), until you reach the ramp to B7. At B7, u-
se the terminal to turn off the security system, then go left (don't go up in
any circumstance). Use the stairs to go to B8.
There's only one way to go, so keep going downstairs until you reach B13,
where you'll find the Cyclotron. It has two computers attached to it. In each
of them, you have to input the password Maririn (from Delta Rio) gave you.If
you input the right password, you can turn off the Cyclotron - notice you ha-
ve to call 'off' on _both_ computers.
Having shut down the Cyclotron, return to B8 and retrieve your cars. Now,
move up to find Bias Brad - that is, the computer that holds his memories. He
says he was afraid of death, and was very angry at the prospect of seeing his
great genius defeated by death... That's why he did all of this.
Now, he unleashed death upon the world, so his intelligence remains unmat-
ched. Brad laughs at the idea you might bring his death, and decides to teach
you the true meaning of death...
Boss: Bias Brad------------------------------------------------------------

Bias Brad can execute several different moves: extremely damaging sin-
gle and group attacks, confusion waves... Before entering this battle, it
might be better to hand over several Refill Drinks to Pochi and take the
Pochi Cylinder away from him - the Cylinder won't get close to refilling
the amount of HP he needs to survive the next hit, and, unlike Ted Broi-
ler, he will be hit a lot.

Being basically a huge machine, Bias Brad is quite vulnerable to Hol-
low Charges, but it's ultimately a matter of firing whatever strong stuff
you have. Freeze attacks, however, seem quite useless against him, while
Napalm Shells grant some good damage if you manage to burn Brad.

Depending on how strong Pochi is, maybe he won't survive even a single
hit, and there's not much you can do about it, except building up his le-
vels and giving him a ton of Pow-Wow Gourmets (which rise his stats per-
manently. Either way, you should be able to beat Brad quite quickly, that
is, if any fight after Ted Broiler could ever seem long...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once defeated, Brad says death has become very familiar to him, as he has
already died once. The only thing death gained back then was a disease-ridden
body; his brain was transferred to this BrainViser. Bias Brad's greatness has
surpassed even death's!
He warns you this was only a temporary body for him. His consciousness has
transcended matter and became a body of pure energy. He is, therefore, indeed
an immortal creature.
Boss: Trans Brad-----------------------------------------------------------

Trans Brad is a creature of pure energy. As such, it attacks only with
energy surges. These surges often hit only one or two of your players, e-
ven though they always sweep the entire screen. However, they're extreme-
ly damaging, and without an electric defense you won't last long.

You've probably noticed the Love Machine's 3112 configuration rises an
ElecBarrier, so use it now. With it, your party becomes pretty invulnera-
ble against Trans Brad's attacks.

Notice, however, that whoever is carrying the Love Machine has to step
off his/her car for one turn to turn the Barrier on. The problem is, when
the barrier rises, the car this character was boarding won't get covered
by it; so, you might want to mantain the Love Machine user out of his car
after the barrier rises, unless the unprotected tank is strong enough to
stand the punishment.

Even worse, when the pilot steps off the tank to use the Love Machine,
Brad may attack first and kill him/her before you have a chance to acti-
vate the ElecBarrier at all, in which case you'll have to match the Trans
Brad without tricks.

Before you get desperate, know that the Trans Brad is quite defeatable
even without the ElecBarrier, although this makes the deal much tougher.
Attack-wise, all that worked against the brain-in-a-bottle Brad also work
pretty well against this one: Napalm Shells, Hollow Charges or normal at-
tacks, if your main gun is strong enough.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
As you defeat Brad, his body starts desintegrating, and at last he is for-
ced to die, this time without leaving a trace on the world. Bias City starts
to crumble, and your guys rush to save themselves... Enjoy the ending.

2 - Monster-Dropped Items
-------------------------
Some enemies, when defeated, leave you items. Getting such items is a mat-
ter of chance, as there's just no way to ensure a monster'll drop anything at
all. There are, however, some rules when it comes to dropped items:
- The monster that drops the items is always the *last* one defeated.
- On some monsters, how many attacks you use before defeating the monster
influences the item you get: if you use less than 10 attacks to beat an
enemy, you may get a different item than if you use more than 10 attacks.
- Notice that on the previous item I said attacks, not turns. For attacks,
I mean anything aimed at the enemy, even if it doesn't damage him at all.
For instance, if an enemy hides underground, any attacks you throw at him
count, despite the fact you don't hit them.
- If you get the enemy burned, freeze-burned, acid-ridden or anything like
that, the little extra damage the enemy suffers at the end of each turn
also counts as an attack.
- Burst-type cannons fire twice, so they count as two attacks.
- I think using a Signalizer on an enemy prevents you from gaining an item
from him, as you'll always retrieve the Signalizer instead.
Here, I'll describe some items you may get from different enemies. I'm not
sure there are other item-dropping enemies, so any user feedback helps. Mons-
ters marked with an asterisk (*) drop rare items: items you can only get from
them.

3- Buried Items
---------------
Some items are simply hidden on an open field. By using the Metal Detector
you can find these items and collect them.
Sister's Towel - right on Mado City (leave the city, and use the 'check'
command before walking a single step).
Pochi Mask - right on the Dog Village (leave the village, and use the
'check' command before walking a single step).

a total of twelve. If you follow the walkthrough you should manage to get all
chips by the time you reach Death Cross, but here are the locations of them,
just in case:

can be obtained through the Salvage Service.

HELP WANTED------------------------------------------------------------------
In this section, I'll place any doubts I might have about the game, hoping
any reader knows the answer. More questions will be posted as they arise.
- Is it possible to get the following items without cheats?
- Mechanic Kit
- DDT Spray
- Radar Scope
- Craction R
- Metal Blade
- 205mm Red Peony
These items are programmed in the game and you can have them by using PAR
cheats, but it seems impossible to get them the honest way.
- On Islaport's Ferry Connection Building (the one where you have to pay a
100G toll to enter the city after you arrive by ferry), there's a room on
the top left corner. Once you get close to it, however, a Grappler blocks
your way. Does anyone know how to get the Grappler out, and what's inside
the box in this room?
CONTACT INFORMATION----------------------------------------------------------
If anyone has questions, comments or suggestions to make, please feel free
to mail me at the address written on the beginning of this document (which is
[email protected]). Before doing that, however, please pay attention to the
following requests/facts:
- Write "FAQ" as your subject, just so I can separate your mail from junk
mail and things alike.
- Due to the amount of mail I receive, I might not be able to respond all
e-mails. So, if you receive no response, it doesn't mean it hasn't been
received and/or read. Don't send it over and over.
- Feel free to point grammar mistakes or anything like that. English is
not my native language, and advice is always welcome.
- Do not ask me where you can get "romz". If it's up to me, you won't get
them; as a matter of fact, do not ask me ANYTHING about ROMs, emulators
or patches, nor complain to me if you can't run it on your computer.
- No 'l33t' language please. What can I say, I just hate it.
