2. Information about FE4
Fire Emblem 4 or Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu, is the
fourth game in the popular (well in Japan) series of Fire Emblem.
Some may know this series for Roy and Marth from SSBM or
the US release of Fire Emblem. Unfortunantly, this game
never made it into the US. And no, Roy and Marth arn't in this game.
This game is diveded into two parts, the 1st and second generations.
In the first generation, the main character is Sigurd.
The second generation stars Celice as the main character.
You also have other characters.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. 1st Generation Characters:
As stated above, there are two parts of this game. This
section covers the characters in the first part of the game.
*note: some characters have bonus stat growths, this is due to
them having holy blood.
I also have a Fesser rating. This rating is the average score the
guys at FESS (a Fire Emblem community) gave me.
Siguld
Class: Knight Lord
Promotes to: N/A
Holy Blood: Major Baldo
Skills: Pursuit
Siguld is the main lord of this game. If he dies, its game over, so you
better make sure he dosn't. But, he won't die too much, because unlike
other lords in other Fire Emblem games, Siguld turns out very strong.
Although his growths are good, his class the Knight Lord, has very low
stat caps which won't let him reach his full potential. Siguld also gets
access to the very powerful legendary weapon Tylfang, which allows
him to be an ultamate mage hunter.

Noish
Class: Cavalier
Promotes to: Paladin
Holy Blood: N/A
Skills: Berserk, Duel
This is your standard red cavalier following the red/green tradition of
other Fire Emblem games. This means that Noish will gain good str and
while having somewhat low spd and skill (Kent, from FE7, does not follow
this rule because he's the oddball). Noish has good good str and def, while
suffering from low spd and skill. His skills are ok, berserk giving him
criticals
and duel occasionaly giving him another round of combat, but he is missing the
all important pursuit skill which means he will not double attack. This hurts
him
a bit. Noish's class, the Paladin, has low caps which further hurts him.
Overall,
he can be useful, but isn't the best.

Alec
Class: Cavalier
Promotes to: Paladin
Holy Blood: N/A
Skills: Pursuit, Awareness
Alec is your green cavalier. He is faster and more skilled than your red
cavalier
(except in FE 7 where Sain is the stronger one). Alec is a shaky character. If
you're lucky, he can turn out exellent. But if you're unlucky, he can totally
suck. I prefer Alec to Noish, due to the sole fact he has Pursuit as a skill,
so he can attack twice. His other skill, Awareness, is purely situational.
Overall, again like Noish, he can be useful but isn't the best.

Adan
Class :Sword Armor
Promotes to: General
Holy Blood: N/A
Skills: Ambush
This is your strong but very slow defensive unit. I'll be blunt and say that
Arden is not a very useful unit. His movement is very slow, so he'll have a
hard time keeping up with your other units. Arden dosn't have very good skills
either. If you promote him to General, he may be useful, but thats a big if.
Otherwise, I just have him protect my castle.

Finn
Class: Lance Knight
Promotes to: Duke Knight
Holy Blood: N/A
Skills: Pursuit, Prayer
At first look, this guy might not seem too useful. He can only use a lance and
the majority of enemies in the first couple of chapters are axe users. He also
leaves you at the end of chapter 3. You should still train him for he is the
only person that joins you again in the second part of the game. Stat wise,
Finn has the exact same growths as Alec, just with alot more luck.
Finn's skills are good. Pursuit allows him to attack again, and Prayer allows
him to dodge more at low hp (just don't rely on it too much). Overall, Finn is
a decent character.

Cuan
Class: Duke Knight
Promotes to: N/A
Holy Blood: Major Noba
Skills: Continue
Some people really dislike this person. I personally think he's okay. Cuan has
high strength and defense, with moderate speed and skill. However, like Finn,
he leaves you at the end of chapter 3. Cuan's downside is that he has bad
skills. Continue which allows him an extra attack, will rarely
activate. Cuan does get a legendary weapon though, but only for 1/4 of a
chapter. Overall, a decent unit.

Mideel

Promotes to: Bow Knight
Holy Blood: N/A

This guy is alright I suppose. He's good for hit and run attacks. His skill are
good, Pursuit and Duel giving him lots of attacks. His growths are a bit shakey
though. Its best to give him a heroes bow.

Levin
Class: Bard
Promotes to: Sage
Holy Blood: Major Holsety
Skills: Continue, Berserk
Ok, this guy is awesome. He is guaranteed to max his speed. His other stats are
alright too. Levin accels in wind magic, which imo is the best magic. Upon
promotion, he can be a good staff user too. On top of his awesome speed, he
also gets the holy weapon Holsety which gives him even more speed! Now Levin
can dodge practically everything thrown at him. Levin's skills are good too.
His Continue skill will activate often due to his monstrous speed, and Berserk
that allows him to do critical damage.

This guy is an excellent unit. He starts off with high stats and gets good

and Moonlight Hit which allows him to ignore enemy's defense. Overall, Holin is
very good.

Azel
Class: Mage
Promotes to: Mage Knight
Holy Blood: Minor Fala
Skills: Pursuit
Azel is an ok mage. He gets good magic and speed growth. However, his other
stats leave less to be desired. Azel specializes in fire magic which imo is the
worst magic. Azel only has one skill, and that is Pursuit, which is good but
another skill wouldn't hurt. When Azel promotes, he becomes a mage knight which
allows him to do hit and run attacks along with using swords. Overall, a decent
unit.

Jamka
Class: Bow Fighter
Promotes to: Sniper
Holy Blood: N/A
Skills: Continue, Charge, Pursuit
Jamka is one of my favorite bow users. He gains high strength with ok speed and
defense. He gains practically no skill, but that's counteracted by his starting
weapon, the Killer Bow, which has a very high hit rate. Jamka has very good
skills, allowing him to attack many times (of course it doesn't take too many
attacks for Jamka to kill someone). Overall, a very good unit.

Claude

Claude's main use is a healer, and should be used as such. He may attack, but
without skills, he would not do too well. Claude comes with the legendary
Valkyrie Staff which allows you to revive a character. It can be repaired, but
for a hefty 30000 gold.

Beowulf

Promotes to: Forest Knight
Holy Blood: N/A
Skills: Pursuit, Continue, Duel
Beowulf, people hate him or love him (mainly due to the Finn-Beo-Lachesis
triangle which I will not explain here). Personally, I'm indifferent. Beowulf
has good stat growth, most notable is strength and skill. His promotion gains
are very good, so even if he gets screwed in his growths, he will still turn
out good. His skills are also good allowing him to get many attacks.

Lex
Class: Axe Knight
Promotes to: Great Knight
Holy Blood: Minor Neir
Skills: Ambush, Elite
Lex is a mounted tank. I prefer him to Adan for my tanking needs. Lex is one of
the few units that can use axes, so you might as well use him against lance
users. Lex is also the only unit that gets Elite, which allows him to gain 2x
the experience, so he will most likely be one of the first to promote. Ambush
also allows him to strike first if under 50% health. However, Lex does not have
pursuit, so it is imperative to give him the Heroes Axe. Overall, a good unit.

Deu

Promotes to: Thief Fighter
Holy Blood: N/A
Skills: Steal, Sun Hit, Bargain
Deu is a unique unit. His skills allow him to steal money from the enemy and is
able to heal himself by attacking. Deu also can buy items at half price.
However, Deu comes very weak. Training him will be very difficult. But if you
do train up Deu, he can become a very strong fighter.

I'll be blunt and say Diadora plain sucks. She may get good Magic and Magic

Ethlin

Promotes to: Paladin
Holy Blood: Minor Baldo
Skills: Berserk
Ethlin is the wife of Cuan. Like him and Finn, Ethlin will leave at the end of
the third chapter. Ethlin is a mounted healer that is able to fight. However,
she has low magic and strength, so is not the best for both roles. Nonetheless,
she's mounted and is able to heal units your other healers cannot reach.

Lachesis

Promotes to: Master Knight
Holy Blood: Minor Hezul
Skills: Charisma, Pursuit (upon promotion)
Upon first glance, Lachesis appears weak. Her growths are also weak. But if you
train her up, she will not disappoint. How? Well, when she promotes, she gains
insane promotion gains. So no matter what, she will turn out good. Also, her
class, the Master Knight is able to use virtually every weapon excluding dark
magic. Overall, if you put effort into her, she will be a good unit.

Skills: Pursuit, Awareness, Star Hit, Continue(upon promotion)
Alright, the goddess sword user. Arya and her daughter, Lackche, are arguably
the best swords users in FE history. Arya starts with high stats and only gets

Fury is the only flier you get. She is uninhibited by terrain so she is
excellent for hit and run. However, her stat growths are the second worst
(right next to Sylvia). Fury does her job well, but don't expect her to be
spectacular. Upon promotion, she can use staffs so she can be a good healer.

Tilytu comes at about as late as possible for a usable unit. Tilytu has low

when her hp is low, but it is risky as she doesn't have good defense or hp.

4. Second Generation Characters
These are the characters in the second part of the game, also known as the
second generation. The second generation differs from the first as you can get
two types of units. One set of units are the kids of the characters that fell
in love. If a female character in the first generation didn't fall in love,
then you'll get the second set of units, called the replacement characters.
There are other characters that join regardless of if you had kids or not.
The characters that are kids of the characters in the first gen have varying
stat growths. The son will have the stat growths of his father plus half the
stat growths of his mother (exception is Leaf). The daughter will have the stat
growths of her mother plus half the stat growths of her father (exception
Altenna).
Celice
Class: Juinior Lord
Promotes to: Lord Knight
Holy Blood: Major Baldo, Minor Narga
Skills: Pursuit, Awareness
Parents: Siguld and Diadora.
Celice is a lord character, which means if he dies its game over, so make sure
to protect him well. Celice is the son of Siguld, so you would expect him to
kick ass. But from the start, Celice is a bit on the weak side. However, you
should train him up asap. Once you train him up, he should become very strong
and might exceed his father. Celice also gets the Tailfang so he will become
the ultimate mage hunter. Overall, a kick ass unit like his dad.
Rating: 9/10
Johalvier
Class: Axe Fighter
Promotes to: Warrior
Holy Blood: Minor Neir
Skills: Duel
Johalvier has a brother, Johan. You can only choose one of them to join your
side and have to kill the other one. Johalvier is an axe user. He gets
practically no Speed, but good Skill growth. Strength and Def are high and
likely to max out. Johalvier dosn't have Pursuit, so don't expect him to attack
much. It is imperative to give him a heroes axe so he can attack twice.
Overall, decent but not the best.
Rating: 7/10
Johan
Class: Axe Knight
Promotes to: Great Knight
Holy Blood: Minor Neir
Skills: Ambush
Its either this guy or Johalvier. Personally, I prefer Johan more as he's
mounted and gets good speed. Strength and Defense are high like his brother.
Basically this guy is Lex jr. minus the elite skill. Skill is very low though.
Again, the Heroes Axe is imperative to allow two attacks. Overall, a decent
unit.
Rating: 7/10
Shannan
Class: Swordsmaster
Promotes to: N/A
Holy Blood: Major Odo
Skills: Pursuit, Continue, Star Hit
You saw this guy in the First Gen as a small kid. But now he's grown up and he
kicks ass. Remeber Arya, well Shannan is almost just like her. His skills allow
him to get many attacks. Shannan starts out with high stats. Shannan's speed
growth is low though. However, skill and defense are high. Expect Shannan to be
able to take many attacks, but only if he gets hit. See, Shannan gets the
legendary weapon Balmunk! You know about Holsety, well Balmunk is just like
Holsety in that it gives +20 speed and +10 skill (Balmunk has 2 less weight
though). Expect Shannan to kill armies unscathed.
Ratin: 9.5/10
Leaf
Class: Prince
Promotes to: Master Knight
Holy Blood: Minor Noba, Minor Baldo
Skills: Continue, Berserk, Pursuit (upon promotion)
Parents: Cuan and Ethlin
Think Lachesis with 2x the stat growths and 2x the ease of training and you
have Leaf. Leaf just plains kicks ass. His skills are good, allowing him to
attack twice and doing critical damage. Once he promotes, Leaf gets insane stat
bonuses along with the ability to use every weapon except dark magic. Some
would say Leaf might make a better Lord than Celis.
Rating: 9/10
Altenna
Class: Dragon Knight
Promotes to: Dragon Master
Holy Blood: Major Noba, Minor Baldo
Skills: Continue, Berserk, Pursuit (upon promotion)
Parents: Cuan and Ethlin.
Altenna is the sister of Leaf, so you know she'll be good. She's a good flier
that can tank. She has good strength and defense while maintaining good speed
and skill. Her skills are also good. On top of her stats, Altenna also gets the
legendary weapon the Geiborg. Just avoid archers and mages and your be fine.
Ratin: 9/10

5. Holy Blood Bonuses and Holy Weapons
Ifyou go to a characters stat screen and press the A button, you will see a
screen showing the holy
bloods. If the character has a small flashing circle in one of the holy bloods,
he gets bonus stat growth. If he
has a large flashing circle, he'll have double the bonus stat growth. Also,
when he has major holy blood, he will be able
to wield Holy Weapons which are very powerful weapons that give stat bonuses.
Here is a list of Holy Blood Bonuses.
