|| I. INTRODUCTION ||
\/============================================================\/
Welcome to my yet another FAQ/WALKTHROUGH for the Final Fantasy
Series created by Square but later merged to be named Square Enix.
Follow my Journey as I conquer the whole Final Fantasy series
along side with Dragon Quest series, Mana series, Breath Of
Fire series, Tales Of series and their various Spin-Off series.
Our journey has taken us to Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest. This game
as you know, is only for SNES. So don't ask me why I wrote for
SNES. So we'll be covering this game next! I'm still working on
FF Legend. I haven't started FF III or DQ III yet..of you care about
what I say >_>...After I finish up this guide and FF Legend, I
think I'll work on Evoland for Android. I just heard its sequel
came out. I'm glad :D.
Anyway, enough of my blabbing! ENJOY!
/\============================================================/\
|| II. GAME INTRODUCTION/INFORMATION ||
\/============================================================\/
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest is an entry-level RPG for the Super
Nintendo Entertainment System designed to feature simplified
in-game options, storyline, and player control. Final Fantasy
Mystic Quest features many elements of other Final Fantasy games,
including a story focusing on quests centered on restoring five
crystals. Designed for American gamers as an RPG for younger
players in the days when RPGs were still a niche genre, Final
Fantasy Mystic Quest was a simpler and more narrowly driven RPG
title than the players and/or fans of Final Fantasy and other
such RPG games are used to. It includes an optional auto mode for
the other party members to make the best decisions during battle.
The game was designed to be linear, that is, travel in the game
is restricted to certain pathways as the game progresses.
The game is called Mystic Quest Legend in Europe to connect it
to Mystic Quest (the name of the European version of Final
Fantasy Adventure). Final Fantasy Mystic Quest is called Final
Fantasy USA: Mystic Quest in Japan, despite being made in Japan.
On September 24, 2010, the game was released on the Wii Virtual
Console.
/\============================================================/\
|| III. DEVELOPMENT ||
\/============================================================\/
Although designed by one of Square's development teams in Japan,
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest was specifically geared for the U.S.
market. At the time, console role-playing games were not a major
ngenre in North America; Square thus attempted to broaden the
genre's appeal through Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. Square had
already released several Final Fantasy spinoffs in North America,
including the first three titles in the SaGa series as Final
Fantasy Legend, and the first Mana series game as Final Fantasy
Adventure, and wished to further break into the popular American
consciousness. Square's executives cited the alleged difficulty
of RPGs as the reason Americans shied away from them, and eased
the difficulty level by tweaking various aspects of the main
series' gameplay. The American release of Final Fantasy IV was
altered to make the game simpler, for example. Mystic Quest was
to take this one step further, and the Japanese developers worked
with the American offices to make sure the game was accessible
to children.
Mystic Quest was developed in a graphic and gameplay style similar
to Final Fantasy Legend III (part of the aforementioned SaGa series).
The gameplay shares numerous similarities with that title, featuring
a very similar battle system, graphical interface, and dungeon system.
Even the jump feature from Final Fantasy Legend III has been reproduced,
and almost all of the icons - from caves to the enemy sprites - are a
color-upgraded version of Final Fantasy Legend III's character set.
Besides allowing for computer-controlled allies, the game did away
with random battles, complicated storylines, and text-based menus. To
appeal to the perceived tastes of North American audiences, which
gravitated towards fast-paced games, Square included action-adventure
game elements; players could now brandish weapons outside of battle,
jump, use a grappling hook, and set bombs to open new paths. North
American translator Ted Woolsey explained that "The action/adventure
players...are larger in numbers and the demographic is different. They
tend to be younger and like the idea of jumping straight into the action
with a sword in their hands; it's an empowerment issue - you get to go
out there, start whacking things and it feels good! With the more
traditional RPGs, it takes a good 15 or 20 hours of playing before
you're finally hooked." Woolsey stated that Mystic Quest was one of
the easiest games he had to translate, due to the game's small size.
Because the game was marketed towards a younger demographic, the game
sold for US$39.99. Mystic Quest also came with an Official Strategy
Guide that helped inexperienced and new RPG players complete it.
====================
RELEASE
====================
After its U.S. debut, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest was released in
Japan under the title Final Fantasy USA: Mystic Quest. The European
release of the game was released in English, German and French,
and had the title changed to Mystic Quest Legend to avoid confusion
with Final Fantasy Adventure, which had been released in Europe as
Mystic Quest. Final Fantasy Mystic Quest was first unveiled in June
at the 1992 Summer Consumer Electronics Show in Chicago, where it
was a popular venue, and the game was later presented in more detail
in the Fall 1992 issue of the Ogopogo Examiner.
====================
AUDIO
====================
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest's soundtrack was composed by Ryuji Sasai
and Yasuhiro Kawakami. It was one of the first games in the Final
Fantasy series not to be composed by regular series composer Nobuo
Uematsu, after Final Fantasy Adventure (known in Japan as Final
Fantasy Gaiden) and the Final Fantasy Legend games (only called
Final Fantasy games in North America). The album was first
released on one Compact Disc by NTT Publishing on September 10,
1993. ROM capacity limits and hardware limitations made the
composition process difficult. After the game was completed,
Sasai recorded two remixes on his days off for the game's album,
and personally played the guitar parts. “Mountain Range of
Whirlwinds†was built off of Sasai's liking of the sound of the
french horn, and its ability to go the length of the song and
convey a sense of mountains. The track "Last Castle" was written
in a short time, and was used to create imagery of a field, but
its length left very little space for the "Battle 3" song.
/\============================================================/\
|| IV. GAMEPLAY ||
\/============================================================\/
====================
EXPLORATION
====================
Like previous games in the series, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest is
presented in a top-down perspective (or bird's eye view), with
players directly navigating the main character around the world
to interact with objects and people. The game features a unique
way of traveling the world map. Unlike past Final Fantasy games,
players cannot freely roam the world map. Instead, they travel
along set paths from one "icon" (pictorial image on the world map)
to the next. Some routes are blocked off (restriction is indicated
by a gray arrow), but become accessible when the player succeeds
in a specific task, such as completing a dungeon. Once its path
is open, the player can enter an icon; the game's plot and action
takes place within these icons, which include towns, dungeons, and
battlefields. The game is characterized by featuring action-adventure
game elements; besides jumping, players can use weapons outside of
battle, which play an active role in exploration. Players can chop
down trees with an axe, detonate bombs to open sealed doorways, or
use a grappling hook to clear wide gaps. The game also has more
puzzles than earlier Final Fantasy games. In the Falls Basin, for
example, players must move pillars of ice across the ground level
in such a fashion that they can be used as platforms to jump across
on the second level. Final Fantasy Mystic Quest also does away with
save points; players can save their progress at any time during
exploration.
====================
BATTLE SYSTEM
====================
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest eliminates the system of random enemy
encounters, a trademark of the main series. Instead, battles are
represented in dungeons as stationary enemy sprites, and the player
is given the option of approaching the enemy and engaging a battle.
Once engaged in battle, the player is thrust into the battle screen,
which presents a window-based menu with three commands to choose from:
battle, run, or control. Running from battle transports the player back
to the field screen, while choosing "control" toggles between the
ally's battle mode, where the player can manually control the main
character's ally or opt for a computer-controlled ally. If players
choose to battle, they are presented with a submenu of four more
options: physically attack the enemy, cast a spell, use a curative
item (such as a Cure potion), or defend. The game's battle system
relies on conditional turn-based combat, where the characters and
enemies cycle through rounds in battling each other, with the most
turns awarded to the fastest character. Enemy sprites are always
far larger than player sprites in battle, despite appearing further
away from the game camera. Some animals attack by physically
crushing the players.
Character health is represented by an incremental life bar, although
the player may choose to have it displayed in numerical fractions as
in most role-playing games. If all character life bars reach zero,
the game is over, but the player is given the option of continuing
and restarting the battle. If the player chooses this option, however,
the main character's attack power may suffer temporarily as a penalty.
A character's performance in battle is determined by numerical figures
(called statistics) for vitality, attacking power, defensive
capabilities, speed, magical prowess, accuracy, and evasion. Character
statistics are driven by experience points (EXP) gained from winning
battles, which accumulate until players achieve milestones known
as "experience levels." Besides awarding experience points, battling
enemies also earns the player gold pieces (GP), which can be used to
buy weapons, armor, and curative items. In the absence of random
enemy encounters, battlefields are scattered across the world map.
Players are immediately thrust into a battle when entering a
battlefield, and must win ten enemy battles to "clean out" the
battlefield. Once a battlefield is cleaned out, players are awarded
either a large amount of experience, a large amount of GP, a piece
of armor, or a magic spell.
====================
CUSTOMIZATION
====================
Unlike all other Final Fantasy games, players cannot manually equip
characters with armor. Instead, newly acquired armor replaces the
main character's current equipment, or upgrades a current version
of a weapon, e.g. obtaining the knight sword will replace the steel
sword. Using the L and R buttons allows the user to cycle through the
weapons that have been collected so far. Benjamin uses four types of
weapons: swords, axes, bombs, and claws. Although the weapons share a
similar function in battle, all have different purposes when
exploring the field map. The Dragon Claw, for example, doubles as a
grappling hook. The weapon arsenal in Final Fantasy Mystic Quest is
considerably smaller than most role-playing games.
Magic in Final Fantasy Mystic Quest is not learned by designated
spellcasters through experience. Instead, the main character acquires
magic spells through treasure chests or as a reward for clearing
out battlefields. The system of spellcasting is similar to that of
the original Final Fantasy; rather than using magic points to draw
upon for supplying magic, spells are used according to a set number
for their type, i.e., white magic, black magic, or wizard magic. The
allotted number for each type increases as a character levels up. A
spell's effectiveness is also proportional to a character's experience
level; the higher the character's level, the more powerful the Fire
spell, for example. The spell catalog in Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
is limited compared to most other Final Fantasy games. Items in the
game are analogous to the spells. Notably, the Heal spell and potion
act as a cure-all for status ailments, eliminating the need for unique
status recovery items. Similarly, the Cure spell and potion each
restore 25% of your maximum hit points regardless of level, so there
is no need for a range of potion or spell strengths.
/\============================================================/\
|| V. CHARACTERS ||
\/============================================================\/
This is the list of all the Characters in the game, giving you
their names and information about them.
/\------------------------------------------------------------/\
|| i. Playable Characters ||
\/------------------------------------------------------------\/
BENJAMIN - Benjamin, also known as Zash, is the main protagonist
of Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. He is an adventurous but
simple-minded boy sent by White to save the world from the Dark
King and restore light to the Crystals. Benjamin's name is never
mentioned in-game, as the player chooses their name when beginning
the game, and only the North American manual mentions it. In the
demo sequences displayed at the title screen the protagonist is
named DemoPlay, and in the Japanese manual the character is merely
called Protagonist.
KAELI - Kaeli, also known as Karen, is one of Benjamin's allies
from Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. She wields axes, and hails from
the town of Foresta. She has a deep connection to nature caring
for the trees in the nearby Level Forest.
PHOEBE - Phoebe is one of Benjamin's four allies from Final
Fantasy Mystic Quest. She hails from Aquaria and is a skilled
adventurer, setting out on her own to save her town.
REUBEN - Reuben is one of Benjamin's four allies from Final
Fantasy Mystic Quest. He hails from the town of Fireburg and
wields a Morning Star. He is devoted to his father and
hometown, but is unsure of how to save them.
TRISTAM - Tristam is one of Benjamin's four allies in Final Fantasy
Mystic Quest. He is a mercenary, and will leave Benjamin to fend for
himself at the opportunity for a treasure hunt. He nicknames Benjamin
"kid", and considers the boy as being in need of his assistance.
Tristam's town of origin is unknown, but he wields Ninja Stars as
his weapon of choice and carries Explosives and the Dragon Claw on
him at various points in the game, both of which he eventually
gives to Benjamin. Tristam is notably the only ally who has his own
musical theme.
/\------------------------------------------------------------/\
|| ii. Others ||
\/------------------------------------------------------------\/
ARION - Arion is a minor character from Final Fantasy Mystic
Quest. He is Reuben's father.
MAC - Captain Mac is a minor character from Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.
He is Kaeli's father, and sails a ship in the lake between Windia and
Aquaria. When the lake dries up, he is stranded, but is able to survive
long enough for Benjamin and Reuben to re-flood the lake by blowing
a hole in Spencer's Place. His ship floats back to the docks at Windia,
but is full of monsters. The heroes board the ship and defeat the
monsters, but when they reach Mac, he warns them that he has discovered a
missing piece of the prophecy which refers to the Dark King. He then
lends Benjamin his ship so that he and Phoebe can travel to the base
of the Focus Tower and climb to the very top to defeat the Dark King.
Even after the Dark King is defeated, Mac allows Benjamin to keep his ship.
NORMA - Norma is a minor character from Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. She
is Otto's daughter, and she becomes trapped in Pazuzu's Tower when the
wind from Mount Gale fouls up the Rainbow Road machine. She remains
near the entrance to the tower, avoiding Pazuzu. After Benjamin and
Kaeli defeat the Dullahan, the wind subsides, and Otto powers up the
Rainbow Road machine again. Benjamin and Kaeli then rescue Norma, and
she returns to Windia while the heroes battle Pazuzu.
OTTO CIS BEKENSTEIN - Otto Cid Bekenstein is a minor character from Final
Fantasy Mystic Quest. He lives in Windia, where he operates the Rainbow
Road machine. His daughter Norma ventured to Pazuzu's Tower across the
Rainbow Road, but was trapped there when the Dullahan caused a wind
to blow from Mt. Gale, forcing the Rainbow Road machine to shut down.
Benjamin and Kaeli arrived in Windia, and Otto asked them to investigate
Mt. Gale. The two heroes defeated the Dullahan, stopping the wind, and
Otto powered up the Rainbow Road machine again. The heroes then ventured
to Pazuzu's Tower and rescued Norma. Following Pazuzu's defeat, Otto
suggested that if he had the Thunder Rock, he could supercharge the
Rainbow Road machine to reach Spencer's Place. Benjamin recruited Reuben
and retrieve the Thunder Rock from Fireburg, returning it to Otto. Otto
was successful, and the Rainbow Road extended beyond Pazuzu's Tower to
Spencer's Tunnel, allow Benjamin to reach the tunnel and refill the dried
lake with the water from the upper lake.
SPENCER - Spencer is a character from Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. He lives
in Aquaria with his granddaughter Phoebe. He is digging a tunnel in hopes
of reaching the lake. Unfortunately, the Crystal of Water comes under the
control of the Ice Golem and Aquaria freezes over, trapping Spencer in his
tunnel. Phoebe recruits Benjamin's aid and the two work together to finally
defeat the Ice Golem, allowing the ice to melt and Spencer to escape his
tunnel.
Later, Benjamin brings Tristam to meet Spencer, and learning that Tristam
loves treasure hunts, he recruits the mercenary to accompany him on such a
hunt. As he leaves his tunnel, Phoebe, frustrated by her grandfather's failure
to finish the tunnel, attempts to finish it for him, but this backfires, as
she is a very bad demolitionist. Spencer's Place caves in, and Phoebe rushes
off to find Spencer. He along with Tristam can later be found sitting at a
table in the Hotel in Fireburg where if spoken to Spencer. Benjamin will let
him know that the tunnel caved in and Phoebe is looking for him. Spencer will
said that he'll head back to Aquaria. Spencer later returns and resumes his
work despite the setback.
WHITE - White is a character from Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. His name
appears in the Japanese and European manual. This enigmatic old man flies
on a cloud and occasionally gives advice to Benjamin.
/\------------------------------------------------------------/\
|| iii. Antagonist ||
\/------------------------------------------------------------\/
VILE FOUR - The Vile Four (Four Heavenly Kings) are the primary
antagonists of Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. They serve as the Four
Fiends in the game, and are explicitly referred to as such in the
Japanese version. They are servants of the Dark King and attack
the Crystals' resting place to drain their energy as part of his
plan to destroy the world. The Vile Four are Flamerus Rex of
Earth, Ice Golem of Water, Dualhead Hydra of Fire, and Pazuzu of Wind.
DARK KING - The Dark King is the primary antagonist of Final
Fantasy Mystic Quest. A green-skinned monarch in regal robes, he
watches over the world from his throne in Doom Castle, situated
above the Focus Tower.

Y
The game begins when Benjamin finds his village has been destroyed,
and is on the Hill of Destiny as it is beginning to collapse. He
is contacted by a mysterious old man and told he must rescue the
other four crystals and return their emblems to the Focus Tower at
the center of the world. After defeating a Behemoth, Benjamin sets
off on his journey. Journeying to the Level Forest, he learns the
forest has begun to rot as a result of monsters. This has also
affected the village of Foresta nearby and has begun to age its
people at an accelerated rate.
Recruiting Kaeli from Foresta, Benjamin explores the forest and
finds a Minotaur, who poisons Kaeli. Benjamin travels to a shrine
seeking the Elixir to cure her, but is beaten there by Tristam.
Tristam agrees to give Benjamin the Elixir if he assists him in
acquiring a treasure in the nearby Bone Dungeon. Accompanying Tristam
into the dungeon, the two find the Flamerus Rex guarding the treasure
keep. After killing the Rex, Tristam hands over the Elixir for Kaeli,
after which the Crystal of Earth appears, rejuvenated and returning
the Level Forest to normal. Tristam claims the dungeon's treasure and
leaves. Kaeli is cured, but worries about Aquaria to the north-east.
Benjamin volunteers to go make sure the people are safe.
Entering the Focus Tower, Benjamin meets the old man, who tells him
Captain Mac will be vital to his quest before running away. Climbing
the tower and entering the Aquaria region, Benjamin finds the land in
deep snowfall, and the waterfall overlooking Aquaria frozen solid. Meeting
Phoebe in Aquaria, she tells him the Libra Crest in Wintry Cave can allow
them to warp to the Libra Temple and use Wakewater to melt the magical
ice. Accompanying Benjamin to the cave, Phoebe finds the crest and uses
it to acquire the last of the Wakewater from the old man. The Wakewater
fails to melt the ice, and Phoebe decides to go to the Ice Pyramid to
investigate.
After traveling through Falls Basin, the two scale the waterfall and enter
the Ice Pyramid. At the top floor they find an Ice Golem. After killing it,
the Crystal of Water shines again and the ice melts, freeing Aquaria. In
the restored Aquaria, Benjamin finds Phoebe's grandfather Spencer digging
a path under the town. Spencer tells Benjamin to go to Fireburg and gives
him more information regarding Captain Mac.
After finding Fireburg near an active volcano, Benjamin discovers it has
recently been plagued by earthquakes. Benjamin finds Reuben and helps him
rescue his father Arion by releasing a huge boulder that was blocking his
way. Arion tells Benjamin the Crystal of Fire is inside the volcano.
Benjamin scales the volcanos outside and descends into the Lava Dome. At
the end of the path lies the Dualhead Hydra. Upon slaying it, the Fire
Crystal is restored and the volcano erupts, opening a new entrance to the
Focus Tower.
Entering the tower, the old man tells Benjamin to look for Otto Cid
Bekenstein in Windia. Descending to a valley, Reuben falls off a bridge
fighting a monster, leaving Benjamin to continue with Tristam to the
Alive Forest where a large tree will not allow Benjamin to pass. Benjamin
returns to Aquaria and asks Kaeli to help move the tree while Spencer and
Tristam go treasure hunting. At the center of the Alive Forest, the giant
tree allows the two to enter him and kill the monsters plaguing him in
return for passage. After doing so, the tree takes them to Windia.
In Windia, Otto's daughter has been stranded in Pazuzu's Tower on a northern
plateau accessible only by the Rainbow Bridge Machine, which the high winds
have destroyed. After going to Mount Gale and weakening the winds enough for
the bridge to be repaired, the two enter Pazuzu's Tower and find Pazuzu. After
chasing Pazuzu through the tower via elevators, he is killed and the Crystal
of Wind is restored, bringing the winds to a halt.
In Windia, Reuben tells Benjamin about a secret passage to the Focus Tower
under the bridge. After acquiring a Thunder Rock from Arion, Otto increases
the Rainbow Bridge's power to allow passage to a deeper area of Spencer's
tunnel. Using explosives, Benjamin and Reuben find a crest that allows them
to warp to where Captain Mac's ship has been stranded. After rescuing him
from the monsters on the ship, Mac and Kaeli return to Foresta, and Phoebe
accompanies Benjamin. Using Mac's ship, they enter a secret area of the
Focus Tower known as Doom Castle.
After finding reincarnations of the fiends draining the crystals, Benjamin
and Phoebe reach the top of the Focus Tower and find the Dark King who
explains the prophecy of a hero was a rumor spread by him centuries ago. After
a fierce battle, the Dark King is killed and the old man appears, revealing
his true self as the Crystal of Light. Benjamin decides to take Mac's ship
in search of more adventures, bidding farewell to his friends before
sailing away. Tristam emerges from below decks and decides to accompany
him. The game ends with the ship sailing towards the open sea.

An Earthquake is taking place as Benjamin quickly rushes to an Old
Man saying his village is gone and asks him what is going on. The
Old Man tells Benjamin that thus place is about to sink. They
need to climb up quickly. The Old Man flies up north which is made
possible because of his flying cloud. Benjamin follows him north
but a gap is in the way. The Old Man tells Benjamin to jump.
Press the B button.
Benjamin makes it safely across. The Hill/Mountain to the west sinks
down.
After that jump, the Old Man shows Benjamin the Focus Tower which is
to the north. It was once the heart of the world. He then tells us
an Old Prophecy which says "The Veil 4 will steal the Power, and
divispde the World behind 4 doors. At that time, the Knight will
appear." The Prophecy has finally come true! 4 monsters locked away
the Focus Tower doora and separated each bearing a Key. They are
also draining the 4 Crystals of the Earth! The people are in danger.
Only Benjamin can save the World.
Benjamin is confused by the Old Man stories says "Me?" The Old Man
of course now says only Benjamin can be the Knight in the Prophecy!

You should be here. :/ This is where we left off. After speaking
to the Old Man and knowing your next objective, go north to see
an Old Man wearing a Blue Robe. Go speak to him. He tells you the
Boulder just above him is blocking his road to town. He asks you
if you can him shove it aside by pushing it. But wait! He's blocking
us from reaching the Boulder. What to do? Jump over him :D. Really...
jump over him :/ When you're facing the Boulders. Just push it by
holding down the directional pad up/left/right/down. Depending on
where you're facing. Now, push it up once and the Old Man will
thank you for helping him. He then says if you want to go
through this forest, you'll need to speak to a girl called Kaeli.
She lives in Foresta. He gives you a TREE WITHER to show her.
With that done, push the Boulder up once again. Go open the chest

Inside, you will see 2 Ladies here. Speak to the one to the right.
She'll say her husband, Mac forgot his Captain Cap. She hopes he's
okay. Now, speak to the girl to the left. She'll introduce herself
as Kaeli. She says there is a Tree blocking the north exit of
Level Forest. She says she can cut down the Tree but monsters are
in the Forest so she can't get to it. Benjamin says he'll take
care of them. But wait! Kaeli's mother tells Benjamin not to take
her daughter to anywhere dangerous! Kaeli notices our Tree Wither
and says the Trees must be dying. She then goes to grab her axe...
...O_o..She tells her mom not to worry. Kaeli then joins our
party!
Speak to her mom again and she'll just tell you to take care. Go
up north through the narrow opening. You should see a Chest along
with 2 Beds. Open the Chest for CURE POTION (x3). Now, exit this
house.
Back outside, speak to the Old Woman nearby and she'll say the
monster can drain energy from a person. She is just a child.
From the entrance of the village, go northeast to find the
Middle part of town. You should be near a Well. Speak to the
Old Man and Woman nearby to find out strange trees are now
growing in Level Forest and that the Earth Crystal is located
to the north inside Bone Dungeon. Go to the northwest end of
town and to reach the Old Man, jump to the Log in the water
then jump to the Old Man location. Speak to him and he'll say
he's an Old Man! He must have been young before but the monster
sucked his Energy. Head to the east part of town to find 2 Houses.
Go into the bottom one first.
Here, go up north and speak to the lady. She says you can rest on
the bed. (The western one). It replenishes your health. Speak to the
man and he'll just ask if you can really save the 4 Crystals. Open
the Chest nearby for CURE POTION (x3). Exit this house.
Go into the upper one now. Inside, speak to the man and he'll
thank you for your help from before. He's the Old Man who asked
you to push the Boulder. He says you can help yourself with the
chest in the back. Go up to see the Chest but it's not reachable
because some barrels is blocking the way. We'll go get that chest
now. Exit this house.
Go to the northeast end of town. Cross the Brown Bridge you see.
You can go down the White Stairs to the west to get into the water
but there's no use of it right now. Go east instead and jump across
the 2 Logs then onto land. Go down south and through the secret

\/============================================================\/
Battlefields are special locations in Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.
Battlefields appear on the overworld map, with 10 enemy parties
in them. The player can enter the Battlefield and fight these
monsters, and if they win 10 times, they win a large cache of
GP or Exp, or win an item or spell.
Battlefields do not respawn monsters, and the player does not
have to fight all 10 battles in succession. As well, they cannot
tell what enemies will be found in a Battlefield, although they
tend to be monsters from the latest dungeon made accessible - the
Battlefields near the Wintry Cave consist of enemies from that area,
for example.

|| XIII. SPELLS ||
\/============================================================\/
Spell is a command in Final Fantasy Mystic Quest that allows the
user to utilize magic spells found in the schools of magic. The
magic system doesn't use MP, but instead uses Magic Left and all
spells cost 1 to cast.
Magic works differently than with other Final Fantasy games. Magic
is not bought or learned as Benjamin levels up, but is learned by
finding spellbooks around the world. There are only twelve spells
divided into three schools of magic. At the maximum level, Benjamin
can have 42 White, 21 Black, and 10 Wizard. While Benjamin can
learn all spells, allies have their spells set and cannot learn more
through gameplay, although their repertoire have increased in the
space of their absence between their first and second appearances in
the party.
