This is another one of those games that has been considered a flop. It really
wasn't a flop, it was just the first RPG Squaresoft made for the SNES. It may
be a bit primative compared to today's standards, but certainly not a flop.
This is a beginner's RPG, and should be treated a such. It may be for
beginners, but veteran RPG players can find some enjoyment in it. I have
played Square games for about 7 years now, and I still liked this game. So,
with that said, let's get to the walkthrough.

2) Characters:
[NOTE: In ALL of my Walkthroughs, the hero is referred to as Jason (Named
after my husband.) I got a semi nasty E-Mail about not naming the hero in one
of my Walkthroughs correctly. But I assure you, my readers, that I do know
the real names of the hero in every game I have written about. Thank you and
enjoy!]
*Hero (Refered to from now on as Jason)- When you first meet Jason, he is
climbing the Hill of Destiny (well, I guess when your village is destroyed,
you have nothing better to do...). Jason meets a Owl Like creature that
informs him that he is the Knight of the ancient Prophecy (you know, you'll
save the world, bring peace, all that...). The Prophecy states that four
monsters have locked the four doors (wow, four monsters- four doors!) of the
Focus Tower and fled with the four keys. You know what you have to do, save
the world! What else is new?
*Kaeli- This is the first character that joins your party (Not sure you can
really call it a party, there are only two of you at any given time). Kaeli
has the ability to talk to trees, a trait that comes in handy both early on in
the game and again later on in the game. She hails from Foresta and when she
joins you for the first time she has 120 Hit Points, attacks with an axe, and
knows the spell of Life. After the fight with Minotaur in the Level Forest,
she leaves the group (she is poisoned in the attack) and gives you her axe!
Kaeli will join you again later on in the game, when Phoebe blows up Spencer's
Place. When she rejoins you she is Level 31 and has 1280 Hit Points.
*Tristam- This character joins you in the Sand Temple. Tristam is a treasure
hunter (Hmmm.... Or is he a Thief????? Heeee) and forces you to accompany
him to the Bone Dungeon. If he gets the treasure he seeks, he will give you
the Elixir which you need to heal Kaeli from the fight with Minotaur. Tristam
takes his leave of you shortly after you fight Flamerus Rex. He is good to
his word, he gets his treasure, you get the Elixir. Also while you are in the
Bone Dungeon with Tristam, he teaches you to use Bombs, and will sell you 50
explosives for 30 GP. Tristam gives you some useful things: He gives you the
Multi Key when you get to Fireburg, and the Dragon Claw later on in Spencer's
Place. Tristam joins you again on the Rope Bridge after Reuben falls.
Tristam is now Level 23 and has 1120 Hit Points.
*Phoebe- You first meet Phoebe un the Libra Temple. She originally hails from
Aquaria. She attacks with a Cat Claw at first, but once you get in the Wintry
Cave, she gives it to you and starts to use the Bow of Grace. She also
teaches you to use Jumbo Bombs in the Falls Basin. She leaves you sometime
soon after the Ice Pyramid. She joins you again in Windia after completing
Mac's Ship. She is then Level 34 and has 1480 Hit Points, and now knows the
Spells of Cure, Heal, Life, Aero, Fire, Thunder, and White! She will stay
with you for the remainder of the game.
*Reuben- You meet Reuben in Fireburg where he joins you for the first time.
He is Level 23 and has 1040 Hit Points. He leaves you when he falls off the
Rope Bridge. He will join you again in Windia after the defeat of Pazuzu. He
will then be leve 31 and have 1320 Hit Points. He knows the Spells of Life
and White on your second meeting.
*Arion- He is Reuben's father. You rescue him by completing the Mine quest
and moving a large rock with Mega Grenades. You learn to use Mega Grenades
from the man in the locked home in Fireburg.
*Spencer- Spencer is Phoebe's grandfather. He helps out with information a
few times in the game. His Place is where you find the Mobius Crest late in
the game.
*Captain Mac- Mac is Kaeli's father. His ship was caught on a ledge when
water drained from a lake. You rescue him and his ship late in the game and
reunite Kaeli and her father. He lets you take his ship in the ending
sequences.
*Otto- You meet Otto in Windia. He bulids you a Rainbow Road to get to
Pazuzu's Tower so you can rescue his daughter Norma. And another Rainbow Road
to get back into Spencer's Place toward the end of the game.
*Norma- Otto's daughter. You rescue her from Pazuzu's Tower later in the
game.
3) Walkthrough List
As I have said in the other Walkthrough I have written- Secret Of Evermore
that appears on Games FAQ, I do not write out every little twist and turn you
need to make in a dungeon. The point of a RPG is to think and problem solve

14) Bosses
______________________________________________________________
*Dark King
Location: Doom Castle
(End Boss)
HP: 65,000
Party: Jason And Phoebe
Strategy: Now, for being a Final Boss this guy is CAKE! There is a chicken
way
to beat him (but any self deserving hero wouldn't use it...right?) Have Jason
ONLY-
now I say Jason only because Phoebe doing this will undo everything Jason has
done. Have Jason ONLY cast Cure on the Dark King. This does an outrageous
amount of damage to him, like 30,000 points! While Jason is using Cure on the
Dark King Phoebe should hit him with White or Flare. If you are a real
adventurer
have Jason and Phoebe use Flare or White the entire time, and Phoebe should
heal
herself or Jason as necessary.
______________________________________________________________
*Dualhead Hydra
Location: Lava Dome
HP: 15,000
EXP: 429
GP: None
Party: Jason And Reubin
Strategy: The strategy here is simple- have Jason use the spell of White and
Reubin should use the Spell of Life (since that's all he knows) to heal the
party, or give
Jason Seeds as he needs them.
______________________________________________________________
*Dullahan
Location: Mount Gale
HP: 13,000
EXP: 750
GP: 21
Party: Jason And Kaeli
Strategy: Dullahan will appear with the company of 2 Vampires on either side
of him.
Both Jason and Kaeli should use the Spell Of Aero to take out the Vampires.
After
the 2 Vampires are gone, Jason should use the Spell of Meteor and Kaeli should
use
the Spell of Aero, or Cure if necessary.
______________________________________________________________
*Flamerus Rex
Location: Bone Dungeon
HP: 400
EXP: 120
GP: None
Party: Jason And Tristam
Strategy: The key to this Boss is the Quake Magic you find in this dungeon.
Jason
should use the Spell of Quake and Tristam should attack. Jason should Cure
both
himself and Tristam as necessary.
______________________________________________________________
*Gidrah
Location: Giant Tree
HP: 13,000
EXP: 729
GP: 18
Party: Jason And Kaeli
Strategy: This battle is simple- Jason should use the Spell of Meteor and
Kaeli
should use the Spell of Aero. Both should heal as necessary.
______________________________________________________________
*Ice Golem
Location: Ice Pyramid
HP: 600
EXP: 246
GP: None
Party: Jason And Phoebe
Strategy: This battle leaves little to explain- Ice Golem.......ICE! USE
FIRE! It
will MELT him! Cure as necessary as always.
______________________________________________________________
*Jinn
Location: Mine
HP: 6,000
EXP: 504
GP: 15
Party:
Strategy: When you fight Jinn he is flanked by 2 Red Bones- take them out
first
by using the Spell of Aero. After they are gone, concentrate on Jinn. Use
the Spell
of Thunder on him, and use the Spell of Cure and take Seeds as necessary.
______________________________________________________________
*Medusa
Location: Volcano
HP: 6,800
EXP: 510
GP: 15
Party: Jason And Reubin
Strategy: First things first... Take out Medusa's companions and then
concentrate your
efforts on her. Jason should use the Spell of White and Reubin should attack
or Cure
and use Seeds as necessary.
______________________________________________________________
*Minotaur
Location: Level Forest
HP: 240
EXP: 102
GP: 30
Party: Jason And Kaeli
Strategy: As with the Dark King, there is a cheap way here to beat Minotaur.
Have
Jason use the Spell of Cure on him- but Kaeli shouldn't. Otherwise, to play
fair,
just attack and Cure as necessary.
______________________________________________________________
*Pazuzu
Location: Pazuzu's Tower
HP: 26,000
EXP: 618
GP: None
Party: Jason And Kaeli
Strategy: Watch out when he uses his Psychshield! DO NOT ATTACK HIM
WHEN IT IS UP! When it is not up (it goes down after 2 rounds usually) Jason
should use the Spell of Flare and Kaeli should use the Spell of Aero and Cure
as necessary.
______________________________________________________________
*Skullerus Rex
Location: Doom Castle
HP: 12,000
EXP: 759
GP: None
Party: Jason And Phoebe
Strategy: Easy strategy (what hasn't been easy?)- Have jason cast the Spell of
Flare and have Phoebe cast the Spell of White. Cure as necessary.
______________________________________________________________
*Snow Crab
Location: Falls Basin
HP: 750
EXP: 234
GP: 6
Party: Jason And Phoebe
Strategy: Snow Crab is flanked by 2 Desert Hags- but don't focus on them like
you
have been on the other monsters flanking Jinn and Dullahan. Use the Spell of
Fire
on the whole bunch! The Desert Hags are weak against Fire and so is Snow
Crab!
Cure as necessary.
______________________________________________________________
*Squidite
Location: Wintry Cave
HP: 700
EXP: 219
GP: 6
Party: Jason And Phoebe
Strategy: First things first... Have Phoebe take out the 2 Sparnas flanking
Squidite
with her Bow Of Grace while Jason attacks Squidite with regular attacks. Once
the Sparnas are gone, Phoebe can use the Spell of Thunder on Squidite. Cure
as
necessary.
______________________________________________________________
*Stone Golem
Location: Doom Castle
HP: 10,000
EXP: 762
GP: None
Party: Jason And Phoebe
Strategy: Both Jason and Phoebe should use the Spell of White here. And as
always Cure as necessary.
______________________________________________________________
*Twinhead Wyvern
Location: Doom Castle
HP: 15,000
EXP: 600
GP: None
Party: Jason And Phoebe
Strategy: Jason should cast the Spell of Meteor here while Phoebe casts the
Spell
of White. Cure as necessary.
______________________________________________________________
*Zuh
Location: Doom Castle
HP: 22,000
EXP: 750
GP: None
Party: Jason And Phoebe
Strategy: Have both Jason and Phoebe cast the Spell of White here to get rid
of
the monsters flanking Zuh- the magic will damage Zuh as well. Once they die
concentrate on Zuh. Have Jason cast the Spell of Flare and Phoebe cast the
Spell
of White. Remember- like Pazuzu, Zuh has that annoying Psychshield. DO NOT
ATTACK HIM WHILE IT IS UP! It will go down in about 2 rounds like Pazuzu's
did. Cure as necessary.

16) FAQ- Actual Questions I Have Been Asked
*How do you get the Sky Coin?
This is gained after the defeat of Pazuzu- climb to the top of the tower and
it is in the red chest.
*How do you get to the top of the Focus Tower?
You need the Sky Coin to gain access to the top of the Focus Tower.
*How do you find the secret passage in the Rope Bridge?
Now, this one I don't know- I had no idea there was one. I'll have to try to
find the answer to this one.
*If you look at the back of the game box, you will see some pictures- one is
of a new/secret character to join with the hero, I forgot her name, she has a
morning star and full HP. Do you know how to get this character?
Again, I have no idea. I have lost my game box. But, I'll see what I can do
about finding anything out about her.
*Howdo you open the mouths of the trees in the Giant Tree?
All you need to do it poke at them with your sword.
17) Odds And Ends
*There is a free bed in Foresta in the tree stump house on your right at the
bottom. Once inside it is the left bed.
*There is a very easy way to kill the Dark King (the end boss). Just have
Jason cast Cure on him. But don't have your companion do the same. Your
companion will only undo the damage done by the hero. But, now real
adventurers will have no need for this, right?
*One tip, if you get to a dead end (well, one blocked by a chest) just jump
over the obstacle.
*There are certain spells later in the game that monsters hit you with that
can cause instant death if they connect. These spells are: Corrode Gas, Doom
Dance, and Doom Powder.
*All Inns cost the same price to stay: 95 GP.
*After clearing Mac's Ship, and preparing to fight through the Doom Castle, in
the lower levels of Mac's Ship, you can purchase Seeds and Cure Potions!
Seeds Cost 50 GP for 1 and Cure Potions cost 25 for 1.
18) Author's Notes
This Walkthrough was made COMPLETELY by me. I had No help with it. If you
would like to use my Walkthrough ASK MY PERMISSION! There is nothing I hate
more than using someone elses things without asking. I worked very hard on
this and played through the game a many times to get the information. Also, I
will not give permission to only use parts of my Walkthroughs as parts of
someone else's projects. Since I work so hard on my walkthroughs, I know
other people writing one can work equally hard on theirs. Thank you and I
hope you have found it useful. I will update this page as I can or as I feel
necessary.
My Walkthroughs can now be found on other sites that just GameFAQ's! I have
gotten great response from Webmasters wanting to use my Walkthroughs! Here

19) Credits
I have written this Walkthrough on my own, but I still would like to thank a
few people:
First of all, my Husband Jason. I have no idea how he puts up with me kicking
him off the computer so I can work on this stuff. Thanks Jason!
And also my parents Bonnie and Ken. They take interest when I bounce ideas
off them every Friday Night ay Midnight when I call them long distance. I'm
sure I drive them crazy, but they never let on that I do. Thanks Mom and Dad.
Also- thank you to all of the people that have E-Mailed me questions. This is
where I got the questions for the FAQ section- they are actual people. Thanks
for reading my FAQs!
