======================================================================

Farland Story 2 was released on the Super Famicom (Super Nintendo) in Japan on
December 22, 1995 by Banpresto. I did not create Farland Story 2, I had no hand
no hand in its production, etc. Banpresto owns the rights to Farland Story 2
and the various other Farland Story games, as far as I know.

The Walkthrough is copyright me, however. Please don't post it somewhere other
than GameFAQs without my permission. If you ask me, there's a good chance I'll
say yes. Its just courteous to ask before taking, you know?

IV. Gameplay Mechanics
======================================================================

Farland Story 2 is an SRPG, in the same vein as the Fire Emblem, Shining Force,
and FEDA games. This basically boils down to the characters moving around on a
giant invisible grid, and attacking the enemies who are in their range of
attack.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Gameplay Mechanics Index:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A. Movement
B. Attacking/Healing
C. Menues
D. Special Attacks?
E. Objectives?

A. Movement
----------------------------------------------------------------------
       Movement in Farland Story is grid based. That means that when you chose a
character to move, a grid lights up. Your character can move on to any of these
lighted squares. Characters only have a limited movement range, and some can
move farther than others.

       Also, certain terrains cause movement problems for certain characters. Most
characters can only move one space while crossing water, which isn't true for
Artaba, the Sailor. Knights can only move one space in forests, whereas most
other characters just have their movement slightly impaired. Clauth can move
freely through the woods. A full list of terrain and their effects will be
included in a later version.

B. Attacking/Healing
----------------------------------------------------------------------
       Of course, what kind of RPG wouldn't feature attacking? When you get into a
certain range of the enemy, you will have the option to attack. This range
varies depending on the character who is attacking. Most characters have a
range of one panel. That is, they can attack and enemy that is directly beside
them. Certain characters, most noteably Mage type characters, can attack from
two panels away. See each characters information to find out their range.

       To attack the enemy, just move a character into their range of attack and
select the Attack/Heal command. A little sword will appear on the enemy,
indicating that you can attack it. Select the enemy, and your character will
attack. Simple, eh?

       When you attack an enemy, you will deal damage. After you have attacked, if
the enemy is still alive, it will counter attack. If the enemy is a ranged
enemy, like a Mage or an Amazoness, it will not be able to counter attack you
if you attacked it with a character standing directly beside it. Same goes for
your team. If Neiphel attacks a Knight enemy from two panels away, it won't be
able to counter attack.

       Clerics type characters, like Iria and Serena, can heal your characters.
Healing can occur as long as the healer has a healing weapon equipped. Yes,
that's probably an oxymoron, but I'm not sure what else to call them. Anyway,
Healing works on the same principles as attacking. Just move the Healer beside
the character that needs to be healed, select the Attack/Heal command, and
target the character, and they'll be healed. Of course, the character won't
counter attack the healer.

       Reviving a character works the same as healing. Just stand beside the
character and heal them. Now you can do one of two things: Heal them again with
a different Cleric to let them act this turn, or leave them alone. If you leave
them alone, by your next turn, they will have recovered completely.

C. Menues
----------------------------------------------------------------------

D. Special Attacks?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

E. Objectives?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
       To complete a stage, you need to meet certain conditions. These range from
"Destroy all the enemies" to "Defeat a specific enemy".

======================================================================
V. Characters
======================================================================

       Unlike in Farland Story 1, when you get a character in Farland Story 2,
they'll still be with you by the end up the game, but with a few exceptions.
Characters with Initial Equipment listed are those who come with multiple
weapons.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Liad - Hero
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I really don't like using Liad. Being the hero of an SRPG, when he dies, the
game is over. This pretty much counter balances his usefullness. In the earlier
stages, when you have to use Liad (Ok, in Stage One.), his special attack comes
in handy. Once you start getting characters though, he should stay far away
from the enemies.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Serena - Dancer
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Serena is your primary healer earlier in the game. Although she isn't that
great after you get Iria, you still should have her healing other characters.
She's the only one who can kill certain bosses later in the game.

Initial Equipment: Ring (Attack), Live Ring (Heal)

----------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Clauth - Wolf
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Clauth isn't that great when you first get him. He has low HP, and his attacks
are too damaging. But, once you begin to build his level up, his ability to
evade attacks is amazing. He also has great movement, and it isn't affected by
Forest/High Grass terrain.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Valkana - Demon
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Valkana is a decent character. His attack is great earlier on, and his Special
Move does wonders on the enemy. He has good movement, and has decent evade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Artaba - Sailor
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Artaba. He's the big, strong guy, only without the usual high defense. He can
move through water like its regular ground, but unfortunately, his movement is
horrible. You'll want to build his level up, because you will need him to be
strong later in the game.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Guy - Knight
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't care much for Knights. Guy can hold his own in battle, but he isn't
overlly useful. He can only move one space at a time in Forest/High grass
terrain.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Iria - Cleric
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Iria's primary function is to heal. After all, she is a cleric. She comes with
a Holy Rod, which you can use to attack instead of Heal. Like all healer
characters, make sure to give equip Iria with the Holy Rod before ending your
turn, just in case she gets attacked.

Initial Equipment: Live Rod (Heal), Holy Rod (Attack)

----------------------------------------------------------------------
8. Neiphel - Wizard
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Neiphel is your first magic user. Her attacks, unlike the others thus far, must
be used from 2 panels away, or diagonally from the target. Being a mage, she
can die easily, so keep that in mind.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
9. Cipher - Lord
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cipher pretty much feels like a clone of Liad. He pretty much sucks in the Lord
Class, but later in the game he'll become a Dragon Rider and own the
battlefield.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
9.5 Docatti - Beserker
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Docatti was one of the best characters from Farland Story 1. His axes had long
range, which made him unfairly powerful. You only get to use him for one
battle, and you don't really need a strategy for him. Just let him kill the
enemies. His movement is sorta bad.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
10. Calinas - Knight
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's pretty much the same as Guy. Uses spears, rides a horse.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
11. Rigiito - Dragon
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You'll only have him for a little while, actually. When Cipher starts riding
him, he no longer gets attack turns. He has great movement, and is a pretty
powerful character. I don't think I've ever had him die before.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
12. Dorace - Shoukanshi (Summoner)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dorace should be used as a healer, for the most part. Her magic attacks can be
helpful if she's near an enemy and can no one needs to be healed. Its pretty
useless to switch her PorePore to Salamander before ending your turn, unless
you're facing enemies with ranged attacks. Like Neiphel, her attacks can only
be fired off from 2 panels away, or from a diagonal to the enemy.

Initial Equipment: PorePore (Heal), Salamander (Attack)

======================================================================
WALKTHROUGH
======================================================================

Format:

Characters:     The new characters that will join you in this stage.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Enemies:        The enemies in this stage, any major things you should look out for.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Objective:      How to complete the stage. Most of it is "Defeat the boss" type
stuff.

               The walkthrough, more or less on how to complete the stage. You really
shouldn't need this, but hey, at least I'm providing it, right?

======================================================================
Stage One
======================================================================

Characters:     Liad - Hero
               Serena/Selena - Dancer
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Enemies:        Killer Bees - Around the right part of the screen. They'll chase you.
               Knights - 3 directly behind Liad and Serena. They'll also follow you, but
they're slow, so they aren't a big      problem.
               Man Eaters - 2 Guarding the gate. Not to big of a problem.
               Knight - The guy guarding the gate. Defeat him to complete this stage.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Objective:      Defeat the Knight at the lower gate!

               Competing this level shouldn't be too hard. Just move Serena and Liad down to
the bottom of the screen and defeat the Knight. The only real threat here is
the Killer Bees, as they'll fly over to you and attack often. You can easily
avoid the pursuit Knights by just moving down. If you Liad gets low on HP, have
Serena heal him with her Live Ring.

======================================================================
Stage Two
======================================================================

Characters:     Clauth - Wolf
               Valkana - Demon
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Enemies:        Fighters - A squad of 6 right beside the heroes, and 4 more scattered
around town. These guys are pretty much                 just there to be slaughtered, so have
at it.
               Armor Knight - One below the heroes. No big deal. Just have Valkana or Clauth
beat it up.
               Knight - 3 Guarding the docks. Don't worry, they aren't tough. Valkana can
probably take 'em out with one  attack.
               General A - The boss. He has a 2 panel attack, but it isn't very dangerous.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Objective:      Defeat General A!

               Again, an easy level. Valkana and Clauth both have amazing movement, so
you'll probably end this battle very quickly. When the battle starts, send
Valkana and Clauth up to attack the 6 fighters. When they're disposed of, make
your way down through the Armor Knight toward the Lower Left of the map. This
is where General A is. You'll probably have to fight through the Knights and
Fighters to get to him, but they're fairly weak and shouldn't put up much of a
fight.

======================================================================
Stage Three
======================================================================

Characters:     Artaba - Sailor
               Guy - Knight
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Enemies:        Knights - 3 are located directly in front of you, and 2 are located on
the Southern Bridge.
               Fighters - 2 are guarding a town at the bottom of the map, and 6 are located
on the upper part of the map.
               Armor Knights - 3 guarding the Green Cat.
               Green Cat - The boss. I think its supposed to be a magic user, but its only
attacked me physically this far.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Objective:      Defeat Green Cat!

               The Fighters in the upper part of the level will come toward you. I suggest
sending Artaba and Guy out to attack the Knights in front of you. Send Artaba
and Valkana down to the town, and possibly Guy. Knights have trouble moving
through forrests, so it depends on how long you want to spend getting to Green
Cat. Clauth has no movement penalties in forests and high grass, so send him on
the upper path. Have Artaba buy a Pearl Ring for Serena in the town. He can
cross through water, so you can send him across the river up to her and hand it
over. Valkana and/or Guy can go up along the far right side to meet Green Cat
without engaging in combat with the Armor Knights.

======================================================================
Stage Four
======================================================================

Characters:     Iria - Cleric
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Enemies:        Fighters - 3 are right in front of your characters, and 3 more are
right behind them.
               Armor Knight1 - 4 are in front of the fort. They will advance toward you.
               Amazoness - 4 are located right behind the 4 Armor Knight1s. Like the Armor
Knight1s, they'll advance toward                                you.
               Mage - 2 are beside Doccatti. Mages have fairly powerful attacks, but don't
worry, you can wipe them out                            before they get a chance to attack.
               Doccatti - Boss. He's strong, but he's also stationary for the most part, so
you can surround and overpower                          him.
               Barnasas - Located right behind Doccatti. You can't defeat him. Just attack
him with one of your characters,                        who will die afterwards, and he'll leave.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Objective: Defeat Doccatti and get rid of Barnasas!

               When the battle starts, Iria will be pretty much surrounded by Fighters. Guy
and Valkana can move up and get rid of them, or you can equip Iria's Holy Rod
and attack them. I don't really suggest doing this, because if Iria doesn't
finish them off, she'll be subjected to a counter attack, and we all know how
fast Female Clerics in an RPG drop. After the 6 Fighters are finished off, you
may have noticed the advancing Armor Knights/Amazonesses. You can go forward
and greet them, or you can wait for them to come to you. It'll probably be a
pretty long wait because they'll hit the rocky terrain, which will impair their
movement (and yours as well.). Whatever you decide to do, make sure you stop in
the town and buy Guy a Sand Lance. When you reach the Fort, have someone take
out the Mages. Then send someone (NOT Liad) to attack Barnasas. This character
will be killed by him, and afterwards he'll leave. Have Iria or Serena heal the
character, and attack Doccatti. Defeating him isn't particularly hard, so just
use Clauth and Valkana's Special Attacks on him, have Iria and Serena heal as
needed, and let Artaba and Guy do whatever they want.

======================================================================
Stage Five
======================================================================

Characters:     Neiphel - Wizard
               Cipher - Lord
               Doccatti - Berserker (Only here for this battle)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Enemies:        Zombie - 4 in front of the heroes, 6 in the upper part of the map, and
8 in the lower part of the map.                                         Similar to Fightrs, these are pretty much
just fodder to destroy.
               Goblin - 3 in the lower map. They're sort of souped up Zombies.
               Gargoyle - 3 in the lower map. They hit pretty hard.
               Sharekoube - 1 in the upper right corner. Very easy to kill.
               Nise (Fake) Liad - The boss. Not too tough to destory.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Objective: Defeat Nise (Fake) Liad!

               The four zombies in front of the heroes can be taken care of by moving Cipher
down to attack one, having Neiphel move over to attack the one to the far
right, equiping Iria's Holy Rod and attacking the one between the ones Cipher
and Neiphel killed, and moving Valkana down to attack the one on the far left.
I suggest sending Guy and Doccatti up  to face the Zombies at the top of the
screen. Advance downward with your other characters, defeating the Gargoyles,
Goblins, and Zombies in your path. Send someone (preferably someone with good
movement like Clauth) to the town. Buy a Bastard Sword for Valkana, Liad, and
Cipher. Buy Clauth a Silver Claw. Buy Artaba a Broad Axe. Have the character
move around and distribute the equipment, staying away from Nise Liad. Nise
Liad is rather strong and can kill your characters fairly easily. Just keep the
Real Liad away from him, have Neiphel use magic attacks, and fighter characters
pound on him and he'll die.

======================================================================
Stage Six
======================================================================

Characters:     Calinus - Knight
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Enemies:        Fighters - 4 around the burnt woods
                          6 Guarding the town beside the woods
               Armor Knights - 3 Guarding the bridge
               Amazoness - 3 Behind Armor Knights
               Gargoyles - 3 Due west of characters guarding a town
               Killer Bees - 3 behind the Gargoyles.
               Green Cat - Boss. Same as last time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Objective: Defeat Green Cat!

               This battle shouldn't be too hard. It might take a long time to buy all the
equipment and distribute it properly, but aside from that, its a cakewalk. The
fighters in the battle are idiots. They run up around the burnt forrest for no
reason. Anyway, send Valkana, Cluath and Cipher to deal with the Killer Bees
and Gargoyles to the left, and move the other characters across the bridge
north. Artaba can swim, so don't make him take up space on the bridge with his
poor movement. There isn't a lot of strategy up here, just have your characters
attack the enemies. Nothing here is strong enough to wipe out your party
(Unless you send Liad in. That would be stupid though.) In the lower town, you
can bye a Great Axe for Artaba, and Silver Lances for Guy and Calinus. The
upper town sells Burnin Rod, which you should give to Neiphel. Whenever you've
bought everything you need, go to the upper left corner and attack Green Cat.
When he dies, the battle ends.

======================================================================
Stage Seven
======================================================================

Characters:     ------
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Enemies:        Zombies - 3 South of the characters
                         3 West of the characters
               Killer Bees - 3 to the Southwest of Characters
               Man Eaters - 2 at the bottom of the screen near the Killer Bees. They have an
ungodly amount of HP for this                        early in the game.
               Armor Knight1 - 3 on the Left of the screen
               Amazoness - 3 Behind, guess who, the Armor Knights
               Mage - 1 Behind the middle Amazoness. Mages can and will kill you.
               Gargoyles - 2 above the Mage, 2 below the Mage.
               Barnasas - On the far left of the screen. He's less powerful now, not that it
matters.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Objective: Attack Barnasas!

               Yep, this battle, the only thing you have to do is attack Barnasas and the
battle will end. Unfortunately, getting there isn't easy, as he's standing
behind Armor Knights, Amazonesses, and Mages. The monster type enemies will
come after you in the battle, so you will have to defeat them to finish this
level. Send some people to attack the Zombies below you, and send the Knights
to kill the Zombies to your left. You can send them over and around to attack
Barnasas, but then you'll miss out on lots of gooey EXP.

======================================================================
Stage Eight
======================================================================

Characters:     Rigiito - Dragon
               Dorace - Shoukanshi (Summoner)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Enemies:        Goblins - 6 on the street above the characters.
               Knights - 4 at the top of the screen
                         2 on the stairs at the far right.
               Armor Knights - 6 on the dock
               Hell Hound - Located in front of the ship.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Objective: Defeat the Hell Hound!

               When the enemies turn comes, the Knights and Goblins will start to charge
you.They don't cause too much trouble by now, so dispose of them. If your
characters get hurt, remember that Dorace can heal them with her PorePore. When
you feel ready, send your stronger troops up the stairs to deal with the Armor
Knights, and have Neiphel and Dorace provide long ranged magic attack support.
The Hell Hound is actually rather tough. He's hard to hit with regular attacks,
and can very well kill off your characters with one attack. Neiphel and Dorace
should be attacking with their magic while other characters provide them with a
human shield.

======================================================================
Stage Nine
======================================================================

Characters: ------
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Enemies:        Zaniganinkaa - 5 in front of the starting point.
                              3 on the lower deck. Nothing too interesting about these guys.
               Kame Knight (Turtle Knight) - 4 blocking the stairs to Weiss.
               Kaiser Penkin - 4 Behind the Kame Knights. They have long range attacks.
Excercise caution with your healers                                     and mages.
               Weiss - Located in the far right. Sitting all alone. Poor Baby.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Objective: Attack Weiss!

               The Zaniganikaas will rush at you when they get the chance. Just take them
out. Neiphel and Dorace can kill the ones that are coming up the bottom stairs
from the upper deck with their magic. After you finish them off, split your
party into two and go to the lower decks. Make sure each team has a healer with
them. When you get an open path, go attack Weiss to end the Stage.

======================================================================
Stage Ten
======================================================================

Characters:     It'll probably be easier to list the characters you still have.
               Calinus, Rigiito, Serena, Liad, Valkana, Clauth, Iria, Neiphel, and Dorace.
Everyone else is M.I.A.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Enemies:        Kame Knight - 4 South of the party, surrounding the town.
               Armor Knight1 - 2 On top of the town.
               Knight - 8 appear after you trade blows with the Kame Knights/Armor Knights.
               Zordein - Boss. Shows up with 8 Knights when you attack the Kame
Knights/Armor Knights.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Objective: Attack Zordein!

               This map is pretty uneventful. Move South, attack the Armor Knights and Kame
Knights, buy a Silver Sword or a Knight Killer for Liad if you haven't already
gotten him better equipment, and finish off the Knights. After you kill them,
attack Zordein to have him run away.

======================================================================
VIII. Misc. Tips
======================================================================

+ Always change the healers weapons back to an Attack Weapon before ending a
turn. Serena being able to counterattack is a good thing.

+ Don't hesitate to create a human shield. Enemies can't walk through a dead
unit, so positioning a character to die in a point that will cause the enemies
to blocked off from Liad is a smart idea.
