1. Introduction
=============================================================================

Biker Mice from Mars was released while ago for the SNES system. I must
say that this game didn't get much public attention. I believe that if you
give this game a try, you'll be hooked on it.

The category that this game is placed in is Action/Racing. There is no
storyline whatsoever in this game. You'll just be spending most of the
time beating up your rivals, which may include a friend. =)

I went to the Gamefaqs site and realized that there are no FAQs for this
game. I finally decided to write my own FAQ and review to fill the void of
blankness in these categories. Alright, time for me to proceed with the
FAQ. This is my second FAQ project that I have enlisted myself in.

=============================================================================
2. How to play
=============================================================================
First thing you need to do is to load the game via your SNES system or
with your ROM emulator. Wait until the main screen loads. You will see the
title and three selections underneath. They should read, in order, Main
Race, Battle Mode, Options. I won't really go into detail about the
Options since it has your usual variety of selections of music and the
like.

---------
Controls
---------
Buttons:
   -A: Helps you buy an item in the subscreen and helps you use an item
       in the race.
   -B: Accelerates the vehicle
   -X: Brakes
   -Y: Uses your special
   -L or R: Helps you maneuver
   -Down + Y: Uses other special attack

The Selection Screen: This is where you are able to choose one of the six
characters. Go to Section 3 for more detailed information on them.

Main Screen: This is where you will see something like this.

Shop: Shop is where you are able to buy upgrades for your vehicle. These
include engines, tires, armors, and shots. You have to buy each one in
order. Once you buy one, it would cost more to buy the next. You are able
to buy the maximum of 5 from each category. After buy 5 you will see a
"sold out" picture.  Here is my list of the costs for each one.

-----------------------------------------------------
|        |   1        2       3       4       5     |
-----------------------------------------------------
| Engine | $5000   $9000   $13000  $17000   $21000  |

Engine: The engine will improve your speed and acceleration.
Tire: The tire will improve your grip and acceleration.
Armor: Armor will reduce the likelihood of your vehicle blowing up.
Shot: Increases the amount of specials you are able to use to blow your
opponent's vehicle

3. Characters
=============================================================================
Before I go talking about each character. I would like to mention
something. For their stats, I have a ">" symbol.

> = poorest
>>>>>> = best

<Throttle>
----------
Special attack: Tornado Shot, Power Drift
Vehicle: Motorcycle
Max Speed: 248 mph
Stats:
   Speed >>>
   Acceleration >>>
   Grip >>>>
Quote: "I'm the leader of the Biker mice! My specialty is the Tornado
       Shot."
Opinion: I think Throttle is an alright character once you get used to the
controls and course. If you're playing in hard mode, be sure to make
accurate turns to cut down on time or else the opponents would zoom right
by you. As you advance in the rounds, the enemies would be faster than
you. I would recommend saving up money that you earned and buy engines and
tires. That way, you can be fast enough in order to earn money for your
armor and shots.

<Modo>
------
Special attack: Bionic Crash, Sky-Hi Slide
Vehicle: Motorcycle
Max Speed: 265 mph
Stats:
   Speed >>>>
   Acceleration >>
   Grip >>>
Quote: "I'm gonna knock you out with my bionic crash!"
Opinion: This is one of my favorite characters. His special attack does a
lot of damage. In the earlier rounds, he can destroy the opponent's
vehicles in one shot. His special attack can also be used on straight
roads for extra speed. I would recommend him for battle mode and for
people who are new to the game. If your friend chose Modo, make sure you
buy lots of armor.

<Vinnie>
--------
Special Attack: Shooting Star, Tornado Whirl
Vehicle: Motorcycle
Max Speed: 220 mph
Stats:
   Speed >
   Acceleration >>>>>
   Grip >>>>>>
Quote: "Nobody is faster than me! I'll jump over all of you!"
Opinion: Vinnie might not be the fastest out of the Biker mice, but he has
very good acceleration and handling of his vehicle. His special attack
could help him speed up on straight roads and bumpy areas. If Vinnie jumps
on you, watch out since you can be turned around and go in reverse. Give him
engines early in the game and you'll be fine.

<Karbunkle>
-----------
Special Attack: Mutation Beam, Bionic Anchor
Vehicle: Mechanical Creature
Max Speed: 225 mph
Stats:
   Speed >>
   Acceleration >>>>
   Grip >>>>>
Quote: "I'm the best scientist ever! I'll turn you all into mutants!"
Opinion: Karbunkle is pretty fun to use. The sound effect when your
opponents get turn into tiny mutants is pretty funny. His attacks make you
opponents very slow and allow you to pass. These effects are temporary. He
his similar to Vinnie in their speeds. Give Karbunkle a few engines and
you'll be fine. Just time your turns.

<Limburger>
-----------
Special Attack: Plutarkian Beam, Anti-Gray Dash
Vehicle: Hovering unit
Max Speed: 280 mph
Stats:
   Speed >>>>>
   Acceleration >>>>>>
   Grip >
Quote: "After I zap you with my electric shock, I'll take over Chicago!"
Opinion: This guy is extremely fast at speed and acceleration. The only
downfall to him is his grip. When you make turns, make sure you tap in the
direction of your turn. If you hold the directional, you will make a full
stop and create a 90 degree turn which will either make your opponents
catch up to you or crash into a wall as you turn. The hovering vehicle for
him is a good addition. The road surface won't affect him much but there
are some disadvantages to this. In some road courses, there are little
speed ups on the ground. These might make Limburger speed up but it won't
be as fast as, for example, Vinnie who will zoom right pass Limburger.

<Greasepit>
-----------
Special Attack: Grease Gun, Corner Attack
Vehicle: Three wheeled motorcycle
Max Speed: 302 mph
Stats:
   Speed >>>>>>
   Acceleration >
   Grip >>
Quote: "I'm the slickest guy on three wheels! I'm gonna grease you!"
Opinion: This guy is the fastest in the game. If you want extreme speed,
then choose him. However, if you crash, it will take a long time to reach
that speed again.

4. Courses
=============================================================================
Each round consists of 5 races. Each race is similar in every round. There is
A total of six rounds.
Here's my list of what each round contains.

Race 1-City
Race 2-Island
Race 3-Sewerage
Race 4-Circuit
Race 5-Fortress

Ok, now if you don't understand what I just wrote I'll give you an example.
Round 1 Race 1 would mean that you are in your very first race. This race would
take place in a city atmosphere.

Now I will give you the list of races that each category has. The name of each
race goes in order of round. For example, Square Town would be in the first
round, Broken Overpass would be in the second round, etc.

City                       Islands                     Sewerage
------                     --------                    ---------
Square Town                Midsea Island               The Maze
Broken Overpass            Crab Hill Island            Flame Hall
Corner Corner              Dr. Ino's Island            Sewer Trap
Twin Road City             Creek Island                Black Falls
Snake City                 Big Rock Island             Across the Drain
Sunset City                Whirlpools                  King's Labyrinth

Circuit                    Fortress
--------                   ---------
Jumping Square             Moon Base
Desert Storm               Mercury Base
Silent Circuit             Venus Base
Two & Five                 Jupiter Base
Crown Circuit              Saturn Base
Dragon's Valley            Mars Base

<City>
------
The city will consist of rocky roads, ramps, and bridges. The rocky roads will
slow your guy down a bit so make sure you don't go into them.

<Island>
--------
Consists of trees, water, and ramps. Don't go into deep water or your vehicle
would be wrecked. You would have to wait for the hand that would slowly drag
your vehicle out of the water and place you back on the race track.

<Sewerage>
----------
Takes place underground. Consists of running water and these things where flames
shoot up and make you lose armor.

<Circuits>
----------
Consists of ramps, bumps, rocky roads, and speed ups. Make sure you know where
the speed ups are since you can gain places in an instant if you go on them.

<Fortress>
----------
Consists of Fans, ramps, speed ups, flame roads, and electric shockers. The fans
will try to blow you off the track and make your vehicle explode. The flamed
roads are an instant explosion to your vehicle, and electric shockers will make
you lose one armor.

=============================================================================
5. Main Race
=============================================================================

Ok, as far as I'm concerned about the Main Race, I would have to say that
I would suggest putting the difficulty on hard. If you are new to the game,
you could take it easy and put it on Easy. However, you won't get far into
the game since it would tell you to try a more difficult level. I would
suggest to put it on Hard Difficulty. So here is my description of all the
courses found on Hard Difficulty.

Round 1 Course 1 Square Town
---------------------------
Just as the name suggests. This should be the easiest course for you. The
race is shaped as a square. In the beginning is a smooth run. Take a right
turn when the hand tells you to do so and then run. Your vehicle will then go
up an incline and land. Take a right when the hand pops up again and on this
side of the race is dirt on the sides. Avoid these since it would slow down
your vehicle. When you take the next right, stay on the left lane since the
right lane will make you perform little jumps and slow you down. When you
take the right turn again, make sure you stay in the middle where there are
arrows. This will speed up your vehicle and will cause you to launch your
vehicle up the incline. This is a great way to catch up to your leaders or to
increase your lead distance.

Round 1 Course 2

Round 1 Course 3

Round 1 Course 4

Round 1 Course 5

To Be Completed...

=============================================================================
6. Battle Mode
=============================================================================

This mode is similar to the Main Race, except for one thing. If your
vehicle blows up anytime during a certain race course, you are out of it
until the next race. You better get a ranking of 3 or higher in order to
advance to the next round. This provides much challenge, especially if you
are racing against a friend. There is a totak of 12 races.

Here is the list of the following races that are involved in battle mode.
Round 1 Race 1: Square Town
Round 1 Race 2: Midsea Island
Round 1 Race 3: The Maze
Round 2 Race 1: Broken Overpass
Round 2 Race 3: Flame Hall
Round 2 Race 4: Desert Storm
Round 3 Race 1: Corner, Corner
Round 3 Race 2: Dr. Ino's Island
Round 3 Race 3: Sewer Trap
Round 4 Race 1: Twin Road City
Round 4 Race 3: Black Falls
Round 4 Race 5: Jupiter Base

=============================================================================
7. Items
=============================================================================
Here is the list of things that you could obtain during a race. A new item
appears for each lap unless you don't use the item. Well here it is and a
description of what it does. In order to use the item, press the A button
on your controller.

<Money Bag>
-----------
This gives you extra money when the race is over. Use this right away.

<Star>
------
This gives you invincibility and extra speed for a short amount of time.
This allows you to catch up on your opponents or expand your lead.

<Nitro>
-------
This will give you a boost of speed for 2 seconds and then its done with.
I would suggest using this item on straightaways.

<Skull>
-------
This will cause an earthquake that will slow down all your opponents except
for you. This will greatly slow them down if there is a hill in front of them
since they won't be able to climb it. Limburger will stay still until the
earthquake is over.

<Clock>
-------
This will stop time and your opponents dead in its track for a short amount of
time. You won't be able to shoot them or bump into them.

=============================================================================
8. My Review
=============================================================================
I have been playing this game for a while now and I am still in love with
this game. I have looked through Gamefaqs here and realized that there are no
FAQs and only one review to describe this awesome game. I have decided to
write my own review to support high ratings that this game deserves. With the
rave of getting newer games with better graphics, I think that we all have
forgotten about certain classics. In my opinion, this game is one of the
classics that I have in my possession.

Gameplay: You are able to choose from a variety of characters. Each character
has a different type of speed, acceleration, and grip (also known as handling
the vehicle). Each character has a different type of attack that can mutate
your rivals or destroy them. You can choose from the main race, battle mode
(where the first one to finish the race or the last one to be destroyed wins),
or you can race against one of your friends. While racing, you can earn money
which will upgrade your vehicle. You can choose from upgrading your engine for
speed, tires for grip and acceleration, armor, or increase the number of shots
you have.

Sound: Not much variety of music here but the music that are provided aren't
really much of a nuisance. The voices of each character are unique in that
the voices don't sound alike. You can here the sound of zapping or popping
when someone is hit or their vehicles are destroyed.

Storyline: There is no storyline here. You are in a race where you need to
defeat your rivals. This is all action for you action fans. =)

Graphics: Not extremely detailed but the graphics are pleasant enough to
enjoy. The colors would set the mood of your race. The brownish color of a
certain race will help you become aware that the roads ahead will be bumpy
and you should avoid certain areas that would slow you down.

Replay Value: As I have already mentioned, I have been playing this game for
a while and I still continue to play it regardless of how old the game is.
This is one of my favorite games for the SNES and I believe that it will stay
that way. Now don't get frustrated if you lose the first few times. You will
soon become familiar with the terrain and you'll be on that road to victory.

Overview: I would suggest those people who haven't played the game at least
give this game a try. I think that those who give it a chance won't be
disappointed.
