1 Introduction
1.1 Background information
This guide contains the Japanese script and the English translation of
the game 3x3 Eyes: Juuma Houkan. The game is based on manga 3x3 Eyes
and exists as a side story to the series. There are other guides for
this game but none has a complete translation of the script.
So I decided to produce a full Japanese script and hopefully the
full translated script as well.

So far the Japanese script is complete and only the translation
remains in progress. I'll be glad if anyone can provide help in the
following area:

1 Any spelling mistakes and any mistakes or missing section in the
Japanese script.
2 Any part of the translation that is wrong.
3 Any part of the translation which is marked with "=???"

For these, you can contact me by sending email to [email protected]
or if possible, post on the message board of this game on the GameFAQs
site.

1.2 How to use this guide
In the script section(section 3), any line starting with '*' is a
comment. Any line starting with "=" is my translation. If the line is
"=???", then this means I'm not sure how to translate this line. Any
suggestion will be welcomed. This guide uses Shift-JIS format for
Japanese text. You must set the browser in order to view this
document properly.

2 Version history
0.59 - 2005.04.10 - first draft. Include all Japanese text and
translation of menu, battle and intro text.
0.69 - 2005.04.16 - added the translation of chapter 1.
0.74 - 2005.04.22 - added the translation of chapter 2b.
0.94 - 2005.06.12 - added the translation of chapter 3, 4a and 4b.

3 Script and translation
3.1 Menu, battle and intro text

*The translation of Kanji part of name of this game:
獣魔奉還
*The first character means beast. This is simple enough.
*The second character is more difficult. In normal usage, that
*character means demon or devil when used as a noun. But when used as
*adjective, this character means magical. In this case, this word is
*used to signify the magical nature of the creature. Note that the
*character used does not indicate that the creature is evil in this
*usage.
*The last two characters mean "restoring to the emperor" and in this
*case "restoring back respectfully". So the full title of the game is:
*"Respectful restoration of beast demon"

*Yaoji Firm - I use Mandarin pronunciation of the name.
*Mandarin is the official one used in China and the dialect used in
*Hong Kong is Cantonese.
*Since the firm originally located in Hong Kong, you may want the
*Cantonese pronunciation of the name: Jiugik. In fact many characters
*in this anime/manga live in Hong Kong and Mandarin pronunciation is
*used for their names.
*As for the meaning of the name, the first character means magical
*creature, similar to the second character of the game title. The
*second character means attack/strike.

*I use the word "bug". A closer translation is poisonous insect.
*There is no direct translation of the real meaning of the character.
*The character is made up of several parts. The top part means insect
*or insects. The bottom part means container. In ancient China, it
*is said if someone put a number of poisonous insects into a container,
*the insects will kill each other and the last remaining insect will be
*the most poisonous. The result will be used for doing evil or used
*in witchcraft. But since the summon is not poisonous, I simply use
*"bug" instead.

九龍城の骨董品屋のおやじさんなら
何か知ってるかもね
=Oh well...
=The old man of the antique shop of Kowloon City
=might know something about it.

*Pai:

じゃあパイ行って聞いてくるね
=Yeah!
=Well, Pai will go and find out.

*Ling Ling:
ちょっとちょっと
八雲君が仕事から戻るまで
待ったほうがいいわよ
=Just a minute, just a minute
=Mr Yakumo will return from his working trip soon

ホンニャンたちがいるもん

=There are Honniyan and others

*For some odd reason, Pai rarely says names in Kanji form
*In this case the Kanji form of Honniyan is 紅娘, which means
*"red girl". I think she is in the anime as well, but I'm not
*sure. It's been years since I watched it.

*Ling Ling:
．．．じゃあ
ハーン君が九龍にいるはずだから、
彼と一緒に行きなさい
=...well
=Since Mr. Hearn must be in Kowloon
=Go together with him

*Yakumo:
そのままパイが消息を絶ったという話を
鈴鈴さんから聞いたのは
二日後　オレが仕事を終えて帰った時だった
=I heard the story from Miss Ling Ling
=that the contact with Pai was lost.
=That was two day later, when I finished my work and return.

*I think Ling Ling and other are in Hong Kong during the game.
*This is because Yaoji Firm is located in Hong Kong. Also the old
*airport was really close the Kowloon City, you can easily walk
*between the two. Since Yakumo took a sailing boat indicates that
*he didn't flew to Hong Kong and so Yaoji Firm might be located on
*Hong Kong Island. As for why he didn't take a ferry, I have not idea.

This is a really nice Japanese word processor. It is easy to find a
character and insert it into the script. It also has a built-in
dictionary and I use the dictionary a lot when the online translators
aren't giving me good results. This program is a must have for
working with Japanese.
