This game brings me back to my childhood, especially one level that I ALWAYS
got stuck on, no matter how many times I completed it. For this reason, along
with the game not having a guide, I decided to make a guide for it myself.
As with all my guides, I hope you have as much fun playing this game as I had
and find this guide useful.

01C) Differences between Difficulty Levels [LK01C]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are three difficulty levels, named Cub (easy), Lion Prince (medium) and
Lion King (Hard). Cub has only four levels, while Lion Prince and Lion King
has 10 levels. The first four levels does not seem to have any differences in
it, but from Exile onwards, Lion Prince has less enemies than Lion King.
In Cub, you start with three full circles, meaning that you have to focus more
on maintaining the health than getting more. In Lion Prince, you start with
two full circles, but that is nothing to really worry about. In Lion King, you
start with one full circle, which means that you have to try and obtain more
health throughout the level.
The only other difference I have noticed is that you get more fruit drops in
the Pumbaa Mini-Game on easier difficulties.
Simba's Face = Extra Life
Orange Square = Extra Continue
Drawing of Simba = Continuation Point if you loose a life
Diamond = Opens Pumbaa's Mini-Game after the level is complete
Ladybird = Heals for a Quarter of a Circle
Greenfly = Heals for a Quarter of a Circle
Brownfly = Invincibility for a while
Butterfly = Fully Heals Simba
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
01E) Story [LK01E]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The main plot behind The Lion King seems to be similar to Hamlet, where the
Prince's Uncle kills his Brother and steals the throne from the Prince.
The Prince must take revenge against the Uncle to take his rightful place as
King.
This will explain how to complete the game while playing the Lion King
difficulty. I will not mention all the enemies, as you do not need to kill all
of them, just get past them.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
02A) The Pridelands [LK02A]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---Movie Link---
This level could represent the first tour of the Pridelands that Simba got from
Mufasa, which got cut short due to Hyenas appearing in the Pridelands.
The game had Simba fighting the Hyena, but the movie has Mufasa telling Simba
to head home while he dealt with the Hyena problem.
---End Movie Link---
From where you start, turn around and collect the Ladybug on the ledge above
you. Head up to the same ledge as the Hedgehog and kill it. You should notice
a branch on a tree. You can swing from these. Swing from the lower branch to
the higher branch, then on to the ledge above both branches. Now, swing from
the branch above you on to the higher ledge, being careful of the lizard on
this ledge. Kill the lizard and jump on the small ledge slightly higher and to
the right of the ledge the lizard was on. Now, swing to the ledge above the
branch that you can see from your current position and jump on to the ledge to
the left. Dodge the exploding bugs and swing from the branch above the left
ledge to the ledge above and to the right of the branch. Climb to the top
ledge and swing from the branch to the ledge above and to the left of the
branch. You now have an extra life.
From the extra life, head to the ledge below the last branch you swung from.
Jump to the right, hopefully landing on one of the ledges in the middle.
From here, jump across to the ledge on the right, and climb these ledges to the
top. Now, jump to the ledge on the right, trying to collect the diamond for
the mini-game. You have to swing on the branch above you to the one to the
left, and would have to do that until you get to the branch close to the ledge
above the branches. Collect the continuation marker and head to the first Boss
Battle...
---Boss1 - Hyena---
Like all Hyenas that you will encounter, you have to dodge their attacks until
they are tired, which is when you strike. The only difference between this
Hyena and the other Hyena's is that you will have to do this three times.
---End Boss1 - Hyena---
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
02B) The Mane Event [LK02B]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---Movie Link---
This is the scene where Simba and Nala manages to ditch Zazu to visit the
Elephant's Graveyard in the movie. The scene even starts with the colour
change that happens in the movie.
---End Movie Link---
Head to the right and swing on the hippopotamus's tail to the bird nest in the
tree. Jump to the higher bunch of leaves to the left and then jump into the
monkey's arms. You should land on another bunch of leaves, next to an extra
life. After obtaining the extra life, drop back down to the ground and head
to the bird nest you were on earlier.
When you are on the bird nest again, jump to the right, on to a giraffe's head.
Keep jumping to the right on to another giraffe's head. If there are no more
giraffe heads to jump on, try to jump and land on a bunch of leaves. Now, jump
in to the monkey's arms that is to the right off the leaves. You will obtain
this level's diamond and land on a bird's nest. Jump to right-most bird's nest
and growl at the monkey to the right. This will make it turn around for you to
be thrown in the right direction.
Jump in to the monkey's arms after it is facing to the right. You will be
thrown to another monkey that will throw you to a giraffe's head. Run as far
to the right as you can, then jump. You should land on the ground, so jump on
the ostrich.
When you see a bird's nest, jump off the ostrich and on to the bird's nest,
then try to the top of this stack and face the monkey that should be to the
left of your current position. Growl at it to turn around, then jump in it's
arms to be thrown to the right. If you forget to growl at it, you will be
thrown back on the ostrich. If you remembered to growl, you will land on a
bird's nest, facing another monkey that you want to growl at.
After growling at this monkey, jump in its arms to be thrown to the right in to
the arms of another monkey. This monkey will throw you on to the head of a
giraffe, which you want to jump off to the right as soon as possible. Head to
the right and you will see some hippopotamus. Swing from their tails and in to
the arms of a monkey. This monkey will throw you on to the head of a giraffe.
Jump on to the other giraffe's head, then on to the ground. Collect the
continuation marker and face the monkey to the right of you.
Growl at the monkey, then jump in to its arms. This will make it throw you in
the air instead of to the ground. Try to land on the higher bunch of leaves
and face the monkey higher than you. Growl at it, then jump in its arms.
You will be thrown in to the arms of a monkey that will throw you on to a
bird's nest. Face the monkey near you, growl at it and then jump in its arms.
If you do not growl at it, you will have to do all this again.
You now start in another area. Jump across the bird's nests and bunch of
leaves until you get to the end and see a monkey above you. Jump in to the
monkey's arms, where you will be thrown and will grab on to a hippopotamus's
tail. Try to swing yourself in to the arms of the monkey, which will throw you
in to the air. Growl at the monkey to your right when you land and jump in
its arms. You will be thrown to another monkey, which will throw you on to a
bird's nest. From this bird's nest, jump to the right and try to grab on to
the hippopotamus's tail. Swing on to the giraffe's head and jump to the right,
landing on a continuation marker.
Swing from the bottom hippopotamus's tail to the top hippopotamus's tail and
finally on to a bird nest. Head to the right, jumping on and off the bird's
nests and giraffe's head until you reach a monkey. Growl at it, then jump in
its arms. You should land on another giraffe's head, which you should jump
off when you can.
After jumping off all the giraffe heads, you should land on the ground near a
hippopotamus. Swing from its tail to a monkey that will throw you in the air.
You should land on a bird's nest, near another monkey. Growl at the monkey,
then jump in its arms. You will be thrown to another monkey that will throw
you on to a bunch of leaves. Jump on the bird's nest above the leaves, then
jump to the bird's nest to your right and growl at the monkey. Jump in it's
arms and land on a giraffe's head. As usual, jump off the giraffe head until
you reach either land or a bunch of leaves.
Growl at the monkey, then jump in its arms. You will be thrown in the air, on
to a bird's nest. Jump to the bird's nest on the right, then growl at the
monkey and jump in its arms. That ends this level.
After Simba and Nala ditched Zazu, they entered the Elephant Graveyard.
This level seems to be similar to the Hyena's Chase of Simba, ending in what
seems to be a deeper part of the Graveyard. However, the next scene seems to
indicate that Simba managed to escape from the Graveyard.
---End Movie Link---
Head to the right and kill the vulture. Then head back to the left, jump to
the bones above the ground and continue running left. Jump on the ledge to the
right and run up the bones heading back to the left on this new ledge and jump
on to the bones slightly above your current position. Run to the right and
collect the continuation marker.
Jump to the right, collecting a brownfly and keep running. When you see a
greenfly, jump to collect it and to grab on to bone you can swing from.
Swing yourself on to the ledge on the right and jump to collect another
brownfly. Run up and collect the continuation marker. From here, you now have
two ways to get to the next continuation marker:
1) Head to the right and you manage to jump in to a little ledge in the
wall. Move a couple of steps to the right and then jump. Collect the
extra life, then head to the left and you should fall on to the
continuation marker.
2) Head to the right and you miss the little ledge. You will then have to
go to the left of the screen, dodging a hyena along the way and drop to
the lowest level. Jump to the next ledge on the right and kill the
vulture. After the vulture is dead, jump to the next ledge, collecting
the diamond along the way, and kill another vulture. When this vulture
is dead, jump to the next ledge on the right, then swing from one bone
on to another swing bone and finally swing to a ledge on the right.
Run to the top of this ledge and you should see another bone to swing
from. Swing from it to get to the bones to the left of it and jump on
the higher ledge. Head to the left to collect the same continuation
marker that was mentioned at the end of the first way to get here.
From the continuation marker, head to the right and swing from the bone on to
the stable bone above it. Jump on to the bone above this one, then run to the
right, jumping across the gap to the finish.
Before anyone asks, I do not know any timing secrets to be able to get to that
extra life. If I did, I would mention them, as I know how annoying it is to
try and figure out a way to get it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
02D) The Stampede [LK02D]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---Movie Link---
Simba is trapped in a chasm with rampaging wildebeest. Simba, running through
the Wildebeest, manages to get to temporarily safety, waiting to be rescued by
Mufasa. This is where Mufasa dies in the movie and the Cub Difficulty ends.
---End Movie Link---
In this level you have to run to the right until you complete it. Easy, huh?
Well, not as easy as you think. You have to remain the ledges unless there is
no wildebeest on the ground and if you get hit by one of them, you loose one
circle and will restart the level at the beginning.
The Wildebeest will appear in threes or by themselves and there is generally
time to get from one ledge to another in the time it takes between groups of
wildebeest from appearing. You can also jump on the back of wildebeest as
well.
Once you beat this level, you have completed the Cub difficulty of this game.
Congratulations, now try Lion Prince or Lion King difficulty.
After the Stampede, Simba talks to Scar, who convinces him that Mufasa's death
was his fault, and runs away from the Pridelands. Scar then orders the hyenas
to kill Simba, but he manages to escape. They then yell at Simba that if he
returned to the Pridelands, he would be killed, thus making Simba exiled.
---End Movie Link---
Head down the steps until you get to the bottom, then jump to the left,
hopefully landing on the ledge opposite. If not, you can jump back to the
bottom step and try again. Once you are on the desired ledge, kill the
hedgehog and jump to the top ledge. Collect the butterfly, jump to the left,
landing on another ledge and collect the Extra Continue.
Now, quickly drop down from this ledge by heading to the left without jumping
to the higher ledge. Run to the right until you see a hedgehog. Now, run to
the left and collect the continuation marker.
Continue heading to the left until you are on the same ledge as some cactus,
then head to the right jumping over the cactus. Head to the right, making sure
you head to the lower level at each chance you get. When you are at the bottom
level and as far right as possible, you should have finished the level.
This reminds me of when Simba meets Pumbaa and Timone, especially with the
amount of water slides there are in this level. This is where Simba learns
about Hakuna Matata and spends the rest of his childhood.
---End Movie Link---
Welcome to one of the most aggravating levels in this game. The only thing
worse than this level's complexity is the fact that Hakuna Matata means "No
worries" in the movie, which is less than fitting.
You start this level sliding down a waterfall. Hold the right button until you
start to the slide down the waterfall on the right. You should land on a ledge
below your starting position. Jump to the ledge on the right, kill the spider
and roll through its web to stop it from spawning again. Now, head to the
left, jump on a small, green ledge, then jump on the higher ledge to the right.
Collect the continuation marker that is on this ledge.
Jump on the small, green ledge to the right of the continuation marker, then
swing from the green branch on to the water slide above it. Hold the right
button until you land on the lower, small, green ledge. If you miss the ledge,
you can jump to the left and land on another small, green ledge and jump left
again to get to the location of the spider you killed earlier.
Once you manage to get on the small, green ledge, jump across the green ledges,
being careful of any spiders that may block your path. Once you get past all
the small, green ledges, you should be on top of a water slide. Collect the
continuation marker that is here.
Slide down this slide, holding the left button so you fall short of the next
slide. If you have done it successfully, you should have landed in between the
water slides, on a continuation marker.
If not, you will probably slide down to the bottom of the level. To get back
up, swing from the green branch to a higher green branch, then on to the above
water slide. You should land on a ledge that has two green branches above it.
Swing from the lower branch to the higher branch and finally to the ledge
above. Jump on the black ledge and walk as high as you can, then jump to the
ledge above. This is the area where we killed that spider earlier.
Now, aren't you glad you got rid of that spider?
From the continuation marker, head slightly to the left until you fall down.
Here is another Extra Life. Head to the right and jump as far as you can.
You should land in the area where we face the second Boss.
Head to the right of the screen and the Orang-utan will drop down and slide to
your direction. After the slide, it will do a backwards elbow, which will do
a quarter of a circle's damage. Attack it after the elbow and run to the other
end of the screen. Repeat this process until it is defeated, which should be
after five hits.
This level seems to represent where Simba travels to see where Mufasa is, with
the guidance of Rafiki, but it could represent something else. It could
represent Simba's journey from the Mufasa cloud to the edge of the Pridelands.
---End Movie Link---
Simba now looks like an adult lion instead of the cub look he had throughout
this game so far. Unfortunately, that means that he can no longer roll, but
can attack without having to jump.
From the start, head to the right, falling down the lower level. Jump to the
ledge to the right, run the length of it and then jump to the ledge to the
right of the ledge you are currently on. Keep running to the right until you
get to a small, greenish ledge. Jump to the top ledge, using the small,
greenish ledges and then run to the right. Drop to the lower level when you
can, collecting the continuation marker as you drop.
Run to the right, kill the vulture and drop to the lower ledge. Kill the
vulture here, then quickly run to the right and jump through the spider's path
before the spider reaches the ground. Keep running to the right and jump on
to a small, greenish ledge when you can. Being careful of the spider, jump to
the small, greenish ledge and then try to jump on to the brownfly.
Run to the right until you get to a couple of small, greenish ledges.
Use these ledges to get to the high ledge, where you will want to kill the
spider. Run to the right and jump to the next platform. Kill the spider here,
collect the continuation marker and run to the right of the screen. Welcome to
the third Boss.
As with the last battle, head to the right of the screen. The Orang-utan will
drop down and slide towards you again, doing the elbow move when it stops
sliding. After the elbow move, jump and attack, but stay on the right side of
the screen. When it attacks, it should be flashing, thus not able to inflict
damage. Keep doing this until you hit it ten times.
If you are having trouble against it, the method used last time will work.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
02H) Be Prepared [LK02H]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---Movie Link---
The title of this level matches the title of a song that Scar and the hyenas
sing. Other than that, there is not a relation between this level and the
movie.
---End Movie Link---
Head to the left, killing the spider and bat and collect the Butterfly that is
on the ledge below, while killing another bat. Now, turn around and head to
the right until you have dropped down two ledges and can kill a spider.
Head to the right and kill another spider, then drop down to the lower ledge.
Turn around and head to the left, dropping to each level until your position is
at the bottom of the screen. Now, jump on to the ledge to you right and
continue to the end. Kill the spider, collect the continuation marker and kill
the bat.
Run to the right end of the ledge where the continuation marker was and jump.
You should climb on to the next ledge, where you need to kill the two bats
waiting for you. Head to the right to the ledge near the next bat, then jump
on to the ledge. Jump to the left ledge, then to the next two left ledges and
finally to the right ledge to get to the last ledge we need to complete this
level. Run the left right of this ledge, avoiding the hyena, to finish this
level.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
02I) Hyena's Lair [LK02I]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---Movie Link---
Although this seems to just be an extra level they added to bulk the game up,
it looks similar to the area where Scar was singing "Be Prepared" in the movie.
I would not state that this level actually has anything to do with the story
and is just there to make the game slightly longer.
---End Movie Link---
Head to the right until you can drop down to another ledge, then head to the
left and kill the vulture. Jump to the ledge with the butterfly on, then head
to the left until you can not go any further. Now, head to the right and kill
the vulture. Drop down until you land on the same ledge as a continuation
marker.
Head to the right and drop down to the lower ledge. From there, drop to the
lower ledge on the left side and then drop to the lower ledge on the right.
Slightly edge to the left until you drop, then head to the right, jumping
across any gaps until you get to a ledge with a vulture on it. Kill the
vulture and grab the extra life that is also on this ledge.
From the Extra Life, jump to the left and land on two ledges. From the second
ledge, jump to the ledge above and to the left of your current position.
Hopefully, you should climb up the ledge and be able to jump to the ledge to
your right. You should head to the right to complete the level and enter the
battle with Scar.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
02J) Hyena's Lair [LK02J]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---Movie Link---
This is the same as the Final Showdown with Scar, which has to end the same way
as the movie, pushing him over the edge of the cliff near a group of hyenas
that betray Scar after hearing a conversation between Simba and Scar.
---End Movie Link---
This is the Final Boss Battle. It is against Scar, Simba's uncle and his
father's murderer. Just like the movie, you must knock Scar on to the Ledge
below. The main problem is where you start. You start at the edge of Pride
Rock, with your back facing the edge where Scar has to be pushed off.
The best thing that Scar does is jump. Once he jumps, run to the right of the
screen until you have passed him, then head back. To push him off the edge,
you have to wait until he jumps, then jump and attack him. Keep doing this
until he falls off the edge, thus making you win the game.
If you get hit by Scar, he will do half a circle's worth of damage. This means
that he will kill Simba in two hits on Lion King difficulty and four hits on
Lion Prince difficulty.
This Mini-Game can only be played after you collect the diamond on that level.
Using the direction buttons, you have to collect as much fruit as possible
while avoiding the bugs. You loose five points each time you eat a bug and
gain one point each time you eat some fruit. Each time you eat a piece of
fruit, you will incur a small delay. For every ten points you earn, you get an
extra life in the main game.
