Superman: The Man of Steel is my next FAQ for the Sega Master System Completion
Project. It is a project set up at the FAQ Contributors Board at GameFAQs to
give all Sega Master System games a FAQ. It was started by Masamune3 in the
case of the Sega Master System but there are projects like that for other
consoles too.
Lois Lane has been kidnapped by Brainiac. The Doom Star orbits the Earth. The
deadliest adversaries Superman has ever encountered are running amok. What
greater challenge for The Man of Steel, his Heat Vision and the Might of his
Super Punch.
[1] [Q]. What are those numbers like [A300] next to the title of every section?
[A] It is the search engine of this FAQ. Press Ctrl and F. Type in the
search code for the section you want to go to. You should be there in
two steps.
>> 1/START >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
You jump in the air by pressing this button. By combining this button with the
Left and Right Arrow, you can jump further. If you combine it with Up, you can
fly temporarily.
>> 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
This button is used for attacking. If you're on the ground, you'll punch in the
direction you're pointing. If you're in the air, you'll shoot a laser beam.
These are the only attacks you have.
>> CONTROL PAD >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
If you use Left or Right on the Control Pad, you'll walk in that direction. If
you combine those buttons with the 1 Button, you do a long jump. If you press
the Down Button, you'll duck. If you combine up with the 1 Button, you can fly
in the sky.
>> SUPERMAN >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
He is our invincible superhero. He comes from the planet Krypton and he was
raised like a normal kid. He tries to hide his superhuman form by pretending to
be a down-to-earth person named Clark Kent, reporter for a big newspaper. There
are only a couple of people like Lois Lane and Lex Luthor that find out the
truth. While he is only vulnerable to Kryptonite, every enemy in this game has
the potential to kill him.
>> LOIS LANE >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Lois Lane is a co-worker of Clark Kent. They fall in love with each other but
when she finds out the truth about Superman and Clark, she seems to be
kidnapped more frequently. At the end of the series, they are happily married.
She is abducted in this game too and you have to rescue her.
Metropolis is under attack. You have to fend off the enemies. Run straight
ahead, you should see a little robot floating in the air in the lower right
corner of the screen. Run ahead and duck when he starts to shoot his green
laser beams. Continue running at him until you're next to him, duck and start
hitting. Jump over the gap but don't worry about falling.
A regular person will come running at you and start punching. You can take him
down quickly. Continue to the right and a flying man will come at you. He is
easy to take down; you can kill him with one hit. Advance and kill the Laser
Beam Machine by ducking next to it and punching. Another flying enemy will
appear but he can't hit you if you quickly run off the building.
Jump to the next building; don't worry if you fall because you'll automatically
fly. When you're on the building, a small UFO will appear. Jump against it and
a power-up will appear. Go sit next to the enemy and punch him. Go up the next
building, a flying enemy will appear.
You'll see green beams appearing from a place you can't see. Drop down from the
building and you'll land next to the Laser Beam Machine. When you reach the end
of the current building, an enemy will appear from behind you. Drop down and
kill the Green Laser Robot. He'll release a power-up.
Jump to the next building. Defeat the UFO and the Laser Beam Machine. Another
UFO will appear soon. Jump to the next building and defeat the ducked enemy.
There is a grey thug a bit further that comes running at you. There are also
two flying enemies, a flying human and a UFO. Drop down to the next roof and
kill the Laser Beam Machine. There are only five enemies that separate you from
the next part of the level.
You're in a floating mission now. You have to avoid the garbage that the people
drop. Just pay attention to the people that appear from the houses. Some of
them will drop something that looks like a Golden Coin that you can catch.
You'll be in some sort of boss fight when you reach the top. A mysterious man
will throw flowers from his hat. Go sit next to him and punch him a couple of
times. Run away than and wait until he moves. Repeat until he is dead.
Superman will drop down to the bottom of a shaft. Run to the left and break the
wall down. Watch out for the Laser Turret. If you fly to the roof of the room
you are in, you can get a power-up. Go down to the bottom floor and continue to
the left. Watch out for the walking Laser Turret.
Break another wall. Jump up to the next stage immediately so that you avoid an
enemy. Defeat the walking turret up there as fast as possible or run past it.
Go to the left. There is a blue power-up between the two Laser Turrets. Advance
to the left and go down a level.
Fly over the gap if you want to reach a red power-up. Jump in the gap to
advance. Avoid the gun turrets in this room. Drop down and defeat the second
type UFO, he'll also give you a red power-up. There is another UFO a bit
further. Drop down to the ground floor where there is an enemy that bounces
around. It looks like some bomb with three legs. You have to hit it three
times.
Go to the right. Destroy the wall and kill the bouncing enemy. Go up the
platforms on the left side to avoid all enemies. Aside from Laser Turrets,
there are also mini-tanks present. They throw green bombs. Go to the right once
you are at the top and drop down. Avoid the two turrets. There are two bouncing
enemies at the ground floor. Kill them and go to the left.
Drop down again and go to the left to pick up a power-up. Go back to the right
and destroy the wall. Pick up the two girls. Advance to the right and drop
down. Fly to the left, there is an exit there. Make sure you don't go down to
the ground because there are many Laser Turrets here.
This is another boss fight. You'll have to fight an iron man. He can jump very
high and he mainly punches you. Use a hit and run technique. He'll take about
twenty hits before losing to you.
You're in a flying level now. You have to reach a train. Press Right to go more
quickly but this way, it is harder to control him. Try to stay in between the
two rows of blue bricks. All the power-ups are in between those two lines.
Enter the door of the train.
Watch out for the yellow persons that come from the windows. They throw bombs
at you. You can't kill them. There is also an UFO against the ceiling. There
are many enemies here but the level itself is pretty straightforward. You can
only go in one direction. The best way to beat this level is to run until you
reach the end where there is another iron man.
This is another boss fight. You'll have to fight an iron man. He can jump very
high and he mainly punches you. Use a hit and run technique. He'll take about
twenty hits before losing to you. Defeat the enemies you see at the screen and
the level is over.
A Blue Rock Monster will appear from the ground. It moves fairly fast, is
small, and can take three hits. There is a gap a bit further that is guarded by
electricity. It is switched off every couple of seconds so you have a tiny time
window to jump down. There are gun turrets and blue rock monster down there. Go
up the rocks and avoid the two saucers that drop down. They change into tanks
after they hit the ground. Three hits will kill them. Go to the right and drop
down in the gap. Drop through the next gap that is guarded with electricity if
you want two power-ups.
Fly out of there and continue to the right. You have to go down using the next
gap. Watch out for the Laser Turrets, Saucers, and Flying Wasps (It is a blue
wasp like enemy that takes three hits to kill.) Fly up at the opening in the
ceiling. Go to the left to find a power-up and then continue to the right.
You'll find two Blue Wasps there. Drop down and you'll see a Blue Monster. It
looks like those monsters from Scooby Doo, very stupid. It will jump down to
you. It can shoot bombs from his mouth. After five hits, he'll release a power-
up. Fifteen hits should kill him after which the level is over.
There is some spiky blue Bomb flying around. Let's call it a Shuriken Bomb.
You'll have to shoot a couple of laser beams to kill hit. One hit from below
will work too. Fly up. If you land on the first floor, you'll see an enemy you
also encountered in the first level. (One of those enemies that shoots laser
beams.) You have to be on the second floor tough. There is a similar enemy to
the Shuriken Bomb there but it is a little faster and has no spikes.
Go to the left to find a small tank that shoots green bombs. Don't try to kill
him because he is invincible. Just grab the power-up. Go to the right. You'll
see some more enemies including a sort of Key/Space Ship, which can be killed
with one hit. This road is fairly straightforward. At one moment, you'll
encounter a tank and a black screen.
Three rockets will start cycling the computer screen and a face will appear.
While it is there, you can use it to warp. Otherwise, you'll have to wait for
them to reappear. You'll have to follow a simple road again until you reach a
Skull. You'll have to beat him. He shoots green laser beams but can't hit you
when you duck. It will move after five hits, just repeat the process. He'll
also shoot heat-seeking missiles. It takes about fifty hits to kill him. Run to
the right. There is another computer screen with the same system as the last
one. This one is just harder. Congratulations, you have beaten the game.
