INTRODUCTION [001]

Michael Jackson's Moonwalker is a platform game released in 1989 by Sega. It's
based in the movie released one year before, that has the same name. It's a
platform game where Michael Jackson stars, you control him. Mr. Big has
ridnapped some kids and Michael's mission is to save them all. The game has the
movie locations. There's a version of this game to Sega Genesis, and it's a lot
better, I shall say. This game has an insane difficulty sometimes (read Final
Boss) but with a bit of pratice you can handle it.
I hope this guide to be useful and hope you like the game and the reading, it's
a pretty good game, one of the best for Master System.

WHERE TO FIND THIS GAME [002]

Well, there are two different ways of getting this game.
1. Buying the original cartridge.
- Search on eBay (www.ebay.com), and MAYBE you'll find it.
- Search stores that sell old games only.
2. Downloading an emulator:
- Download Meka (
http://www.smspower.org/meka/), it's a great SMS emulator.
Emulator is a software that emulates the video-game console (Master
System, in this case) and allows you to play its games on your PC.
- Now you need to download the game's ROM. A ROM is the emulator's
"cartridge", the game itself. You must find roms on your own, I cannot
tell you where to find, since it's illegal to own a game ROM for a game
you do not own. Deal with it on your own.

HOW TO PLAY [003]

Moonwalker is a platform game, and its controls are pretty simple and
intuitive.

Right/Left - Walk around.
Up - Open doors, windows, etc.
Down - Squat
Button 1 - Kick/throw hat
Button 2 - Jump

ADVANCED CONTROLS

Magic - Press and hold Button 1. Michael's gonna do a dance and all of the
characters on the screen are going to die. This move decreases the life bar.
Moonwalking - Kick in a certain direction, then hold the D-Pad on the opposite
side. This will make Michael moonwalks.
Michael can also punch in the air, and punch while on the knees.

Hat - Michael will throw his hat on the enemies, and hit them from a distance.

You start here, there are two kids on this floor: one in the second door, and
the other on the extreme-right door. Go up the stairs.
SECOND FLOOR
More two kids here, one in the thrid door (from right to left) and other in the
last door on the left.
INTERMISSION
Just kneel down and punch both sides.

Here you start on the third Floor.
THIRD FLOOR
There are 2 kids on this floor, one in the fourth door, and the other in the
last door on the left. Go down the stairs.
SECOND FLOOR
There is one kid here. It's on the door on the rightest door. GO down the
stairsd again.
FIRST FLOOR
Only one kid here, in the third door. In the foruth door you'll find a life-up.
Now go up 3 stairs, and you'ra gonna be on...
FOURTH FLOOR
Only one kid too, it's in the first door, in the second you'll find a life-up.
Go up one floor.
FIFTH FLOOR
Caution, don't open any door yet. There's onlu one kid here, but before get it
go to the door on the right and get the hat - with this item you'll be able to
hit enemies from a distance. The last kid is in the door on the left.
INTERMISSION
Kneel down and throw your hat to both sides, maybe you need to move a bit in
order to hit the enemies.

ROUND 1-3

Now you'll face armed dudes that will shoot you, beware. To avoid the shot,
just squat. You start on the second floor.
SECOND FLOOR
Two children here, and this time not in doors, but in windows. One kid in the
first window, and other in the fourth window. Caution with the gun guy in the
second door. Now head down the stairs.
FIRST FLOOR
Two kids here, rightest and leftest door. There are only three doors, and the
middle one there's a gun guy. Now go up TWO stairs, and you'll be on...
THIRD FLOOR
Two kids here, rightest and leftest door again. In the third door there's a gun
guy. Caution with the fallin guards, they fall because the above floor is
broken. Up the stairs now.
FOURTH FLOOR
Two kids here too. One on the third door, and the other on on the eighth. On
the sixth door there's a life-up. Up the stairs again.
FIFTH FLOOR
Only one kid left, it's in the leftest door. Caution with the broken floor, and
there are MANY guards on this floor.
INTERMISSION
Kneel down near the left table and keep throwing your hat. Let the enemy run to
your hat.

ROUND 2 - PARKING LOT

Now you're in a parking lot, and you must ope the car trunks to find each kid.
Watch out for the bombs.
TIPS TO THIS ROUND:
- When a car trunks has a bomb inside, move fast and it's not going to blow on
you.
- On the Round 3-3, there are going to be little evil dogs, they jump quite a
lot, so just kneel down in front of a car, so when the dog jumps it's gonna
land upon the trunk, leaving Michael unspoiled.

This stage is a bit harder because there are dogs and they are fast and jumpy.
So you have to be as quick as them. When they jump upon you, kneel down in
front of a car, so they land upon the trunk. You start on the first floor.
FIRST FLOOR
Two kids and a hat here. The hat is in the first car, since you'll need it to
beat the dogs. Kids in fourth and fifth cars. Go up the right elevator.
SECOND FLOOR
Now from right to left, three kids. First, third and fifth car. Go up the left
elevator.
THIRD FLOOR
Two kids and a life-up here. One kid in the third car, a life-up in the fourth,
and another kid in the rightest car.
INTERMISSION
Run to the left corner, kneel down and keep throwing your hat.

ROUND 3 - WOODS

Background Song: Another Part of Me
Now you're in a cemetery at night, and zombies are your enemies. You must look
for kids in thumbstones and bushes.
TIPS FOR THIS STAGE:
- Here you'll have to face zombies, they appear from the floor, and look like
they're slow, but they jump on you. To face them, walk on his direction and
when he jumps walk on the opposite direction, now he's not gonna hit you, just
kick him and it's over.
- The bushes are camuflaged, since they are dark as the background. Watch out
for not skipping anyone.

Four kids in the tombstones and two kids in bushes. One life-up on bush.
Kids in the second, fourth and fifth tombstones. Another kid in the eighth
tombstone, the one before the lake.
Jump on the rocks to avoid the water, now jump on the log and there's a kid
right in this bush. Noe head to left, in the next bush there's a kid.
INTERMISSION
Kneel down on the left and keep punching.

Here you got 7 kids in the tombstones, and one in a bush. You'll also find a
life-up and a hat in the tombstones. Let's start for the first floor.
FIRST FLOOR
Here you'll find 2 kids, one in the second tombstone and the other on the
rightest tombstone. Now jump upon the before-the-last tombstone, then jump upon
the three as you arrive the second floor.
SECOND FLOOR
Two kids here now. We're on the far right, there's a kid in the first
tombstone. Now keep walking to the left and you'll find the second kid. Go to
the far left and rach to the floor above.
THIRD FLOOR
No kids here. let's go straight to the next floor.
FOURTH FLOOR
One kid here. The kid's in the first tombstone. In the thurd one there's a
life-up. Jump on the tombstone and to the next floor.
FIFTH FLOOR
Two kids in this floor. In the middle tombstone there's a kid, and in the
leftest one there's another kid. GO to the upper floor.
SIXTH FLOOR
Here there's a kid, it's in the second bush. But before get it, go to the
rightest bush and find the hat, then go back and get the kid.
INTERMISSION
Stand up on at the center of the screen, throwing the hat to both directions.

Here you'll find 6 kids in the tombstones, and 2 in the bushes. There's a hat
in a tombstone. Start on the first floor.
FIRST FLOOR
2 kids here. Second and last tombstone, now from the right, go up to the next
floor.
SECOND FLOOR
Two kids here. In the rightest tombstone there's a kid. Now head to the left,
cross the waterfall and in the second tombstone after the waterfall there's a
life-up. In the leftest tombstone there's a kid. Up to the upper floor.
THIRD FLOOR
Two kids here, One's in the third tombstone, the other kid we're gonna get in a
second, just go up one more floor.
FOURTH FLOOR
Three kids here. There's a kid in the leftest bush. Cross the waterfall and
there's a kid in the next bush. From here you have to go down one floor.
THIRD FLOOR
Get the kid in this first tombstone and come back up.
FOURTH FLOOR
Now hea to the rght and the last kid is in the rightest bush.
INTERMISSION
Stand in the center and throw your hat to both sides.

Now the kids are hidden in caves, there are zombies just like in the previous
stage. There are spiders and grey guards that shoot laser, and they're squat-
able, just to help a bit.

FIRST FLOOR
On this floor there are 3 kids. One kid in the third cavern, another in the
next mid-height cavern, and other in the next one. The kids are over for here.
Go up to the next floor, on the right.
SECOND FLOOR
Only one kid here. There's no kid in these first three caves. Keep walking left
and the next cave has a kid. Go up to the next floor.
THIRD FLOOR
Two kids here. In the leftest cave there's the first kid. Now head to the
rightest cave. Watch out for the zombie that jumps on you when you enter the
cave, just walk to the right to avoid him, get the kid and it's over.
INTERMISSION
Stand up and kick the spiders in both sides.

Here you start on the top.
SECOND FLOOR
3 Kids here. There's a kid in every cave in this floor, except the second one.
Watch out for the jumping zombie at the third and fourth cave, walk to the
right to avoid them. Now go down 'till you find a spider symbol drawn on the
wall, press up and get one life-up. Now go down 'till you arrive the floor.
FIRST FLOOR
Starting from the far right. Brake this spider's symbol and there's a kid. Go
up to the highest cave and there's another kid there. Go down as down as you
can, then walk to the far left and go up on the highest cave at the left border
of the screen, just below the place where you started, there's the last kid.
INTERMISSION
Here you'll fight the grey guards. Kneel down to avoid laser shots and jump
when you need to hit a falling guard. Use your skills.

ROUND 4-3

You start on the first floor
Right when you start, go upa level and get the first kid in the spider symbol,
now get back to where you began. Go to the right and there's a kid in the first
spider symbol. ANother kid in the cave to the right. Go up a level and get
another kid in the left spider symbol, and yet another one in the right spider
symbol. Now go straight to the left and go up to the upper floor.
In the third cave there's a kid. In the spider symbol there's another kid, the
next spider symbol there's a life-up, and in the right spider symbol there's
the last kid.
INTERMISSION
More grey soldiers will attack you, it's easier this time. Just kneel down to
avoid the shots and walk to the guard abnd kick him. Repeat this several times.

ROUND 5 - THE ENEMY HIDEOUT

In this round there are laser shooters (a still weapon) all around, brake the
computers in order to mae them stop shooting lasers. The grey guards are here
too. You must find the kids in the doors. This round may confuse you a bit,
since there are teleporters in it. Always remember where to a teleporter takes
you.

ROUND 5-1
-----------

I strongly recommend that during all the way you become obessed in destroying
computers, things get a lot easier this way. The more computers you destroy,
the less lasers you'll have to face.
On the second door (above the laser) there's a kid. Destroy every computer that
cross your way (just kick them three times) to deactivate the laser shooters.
In the before-the-last highest door on the right, there's another kid. Get it
and use the teleporter right on its side.
You'll go down two floors, on the dar left. Get a kid in the first door, now
teleporter yourself back. You come back to the previous place, go to the last
door on the right and get another kid. Now use the teleporter right on its side
and destroy this computer, now go back to the teleporter. You'll be on the
highest floor again, fall on the right of the below level and use this
teleporter.
Now you're in the lower floor, walk to the left 'till you find a door blocing
you, one door before the block there's a kid, get it, destroy the computer, and
get the last kid in the leftest door.
INTERMISSION
Stand on the left side and kick the enemies on your left. Now if an enemy
appears on the right side, walk to there, kick him and go back to the left
side.

ROUND 5-2

Walk to the first teleporter. You've gone down.
You're in the first floor now, don't mind about the doors now, just keep
walking to the left and and no laser will hit you, now destroy the double
computer (DO NOT DESTROY THE OTHER ONE YET), now you go back and get a kid in
the middle door, and a lif-up in the rightest door. Now you destroy the other
compiter, and get a kid in the leftest door. Walk to right and get the first
teleporter you see.
You've gone up, walk to the left (no need to jump) and you'll find a door with
a kid, jump left and then again, and you'll find a teleporter, use it.
Now you're at the top floor, there's a kid in the leftest door, watch out for
the trap floor. After you get the kid, fall in the trapfloor on the right, and
in the door on the right there's a hat. Kneel down and throw the hat over the
guy on the right, then jump there to get the kid inside the door.
Only one missing, just fall off until you find the first floor and go to the
far right, there's the last kid.
INTERMISSION
Kneel down and keep throwing your hat to both directions. If the hat doesn't
reach, walk a little and throw again. Repeat this until it's over.

ROUND 5-3

Start using the teleporter, now walk to the left and destroy the first computer
on the left. The block doesn't exist anymore, so you can go to the far right
and use the last teleporter.
You've gone up on the far right. Walk to the left 'till you find a trapfloor,
when you do find it, check the door on its right, and there's a kid. There's
another kid on the rightest door, now use the teleporter next to it.
You are one floor below, there's a life-up on the door to your left. Check the
platform on the right and get a kid that's there. Now head to the left until
you find a trapfloor, there's a kid in the door on its right. Jump to the left
and use this teleporter here.
Now you're on the first floor, go to the second door and get a kid. Now you use
this first teleporter on your right.
Destroy the computers and open the block door. Go to the left and get the kid
the kid in the leftest door, now use the second teleporter. Just get the kid in
this door on the left, and it's over!
INTERMISSION
Grey guards will appear on the teleporters, kneel down and throw the hat in
both directions.

ROUND 6 - FINAL BOSS

ROUND 6-1

Michael Jackson turns into a super big robot now, you stay at the lower half of
the screen and must avoid the shots moving left and right. There will be 4
enemies on the platform in front of you and they will keep shooting at you,
when you kill one of them, another identical appears. Kill 30 of them and
you'll go to the next stage.
Try always to get a hit when you shoot, always keep moving left and right non-
stopping to avoid the shots, and shoot once in each side. The difficulty of
this boss is really hard.

ROUND 6-2

Now Michael turns into a plane and you must shoot and destroy Mr Big's cannons.
He has put 4 cannons shooting at you, and they shoot trailing missels (they
hunt you wherever you move), now you're screwed. This boss is insanely hard,
and you'll have to be REALLY REALLY good to beat him.
There are four cannons and you have to shoot each of them 3 times. I suggest
you to concentrate on destroying one at a time. The hardest is to avoid the
missiles, I suggest you to die a few times first just trying to avoid the
missiles, without shooting, just as a training, the game has infinite CONTINUEs
anyway.
After destroying the 4 cannons, Mr. Big runs away with his plane. And Michael
dances Smooth Criminal as the credits appear. Congrats, you've finished the
game.
