Introduction

Welcome to my twenty-sixth Guide without a co-author.
After writing the Air Rescue guide, I was looking for another game to write for
the SMS Completion Project. Checking out the list of games that required a
guide, I noticed that this was the only game remaining with the word "Rescue"
in the titel. Having also written a guide for Rescue Mission and Air Rescue,
I decided to give this game a try. Liking both the game and the fact that I
could cover another game with the word "Rescue" in the title, I decided to
write this guide for this game.
I have enjoyed writing this guide and playing the game, and wish that anyone
using this guide finds the game just as fun and this guide helpful. Good luck

01B) Items [MR01B]

Items in this game can either give you a nice bonus, end the action earlier or
increase your score. Excluding the Key, all items will be thrown to the ground
when they are found. To collect these items, you will need to move the people
on the ground to where the item will land, hopefully while the guy in the air
is holding onto a window ledge.
Below is a table that contains all the items you could find during the main
game. This table does not include the items that can only be obtained in the
helicopter minigame (like the Heart).

01C) Scoring Points [MR01C]

There are several ways in this game to score some points to try and get a High
Score. Here are the possible ways to obtain those points you probably want if
you are reading this section:
1) RESCUE PEOPLE - Save a person from the burning building. If you put
out all the fires, you will get double the points for every person
still remaining in the building. If no-one died during an Action,
you will be rewarded with a 10,000 point bonus. A list of all the
different types of people are listed in section [MR01C1], with the
amount of points they are worth if you save them from jumping to
their deaths or if you pull them out of the window.
2) OBTAIN VALUABLE ITEMS - These items can sometimes be obtained by
searching empty windows. The most common item to find that offers
you some points is the Gold Coin, but it also gives you the least
points. The value of every item I have encountered in the main
game is listed in the previous section [MR01B].
3) PLAY THE HELICOPTER MINIGAME - The helicopter minigame will net you
some more points. There are items that are unique to this game
and items that you might have seen before. I have not seen any
set pattern to the amount of points each item is worth while this
minigame is being played. Additionally, if you manage to collect
every item (or miss just one or two), you will be rewarded with a
bonus. I am unsure how the bonus points are calculated for the
minigame.

To double the points obtained per person, I would recommend that you rescue the
bare minimum and just focus on obtaining action-ending items or putting out the
fires in the windows (based on what appears to be the best for the action).
Each time you exstinguish the fire with people remaining in the building, you
earn double the points for each person.

the game. If you want to find strategies for a specific Action, check the
section named "Actions" [MR05].

02A) Playing an Action [MR02A]

Controlling the Rescue Workers
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
With the guys on the ground, you can only control the travelling either to the
left or to the right. You need to use these people to attempt to control the
position of the bouncing rescuer and to prevent him from hitting the ground.
To control the direction that the bouncing rescuer will use, you have to know
how he will react when he lands on the bounce mat. In this game, landing on
the right side of the bounce mat will bounce him off to the left. Likewise,
landing on the left side will bounce him to the right, and landing in the
centre of the bounce mat will make him bounce directly up. I am not that great
with controlling the bouncing rescuer with the starter bounce mat, but if you
find a bounce mat upgrade, that will make controlling him so much easier.
You can also order him to grab onto window ledges, or to drop down (depending
on whether he is holding onto a window or not) by pressing the button when he
is near enough to the window for the command to have effect.
Gaining Health
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
The best and most effiecent method for gaining health in the game is to grab a
Fire Extinguisher. I also think that you can gain a piece of health back by
collecting a Necklace, but that does not always appear to work.
Loosing a Life
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
In this game, there are 2 ways to die. We do not want to loose any lives when
playing this game, so here is how you can die and what you can do to attempt to
prevent it:
Loose all energy - I consider this the best way to die in this game. This is
because you can get as much work completing the level
before you die. On the right side of the screen is a
"LIFE" bar. A yellow segment indicates energy, while an
orange segment indicates a step closer to death. To fill
the guage, collect any fire exstinguishers you find or
collect points. Unsure how many points you do need, but I
found that collecting a necklace generally increases my
health. If you complete an action with the life bar less
than half full, the next action will start with half a
life bar.
Land on the ground - Never want to die this way (that is, if you have to die).
Although you can grab onto a window, you will drop down
to the ground eventually. To avoid this type of death,
you have to land on the bounce mat. To make it easier to
achieve, there is an item that looks like the bounce mat
(or a plate) that will extend the size of the bounce mat.
In this game, loosing a life will not affect the progress you have made on the
level so far. This means that, if you only had 1 person left to rescue before
your death, you will only have the same person to rescue when you retry the
level.
NOTE: You can only hold a maximum of 8 Extra Lifes. If you collect anymore
Extra Lifes after having 8 already, they will not be added to your total.

02B) Completing an Action [MR02B]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The main objective of each action is to rescue as many people as possible.
There are a variety of ways to complete this task, which I have ranked below in
the order that I think is the best way (highest is first):
Catch a helicopter - To be able to catch a helicopter, you must find the
helicopter item in a window. Once found, direct the guy
bouncing around towards the helicopter and he will do the
rest. I believe this is the best as you get bonus points
for the people still in the building and also points that
can be earned through the bonus round. You can also gain
some health on your life bar with the minigame. Finally,
the bonus round may provide you with an extra life.
Find the key - This is the easiest way to complete the level, and, unlike
any other item, the guy will hold onto the key until he
falls to the ground. You will also gain bonus points for
the people still in the building.
Put out the fires - Like the previous methods to complete the action, you will
gain the bonus points from the people remaining within the
building when the fires are out. This, coupled with the
reason that some actions can be cleared quicker with this
method, makes me rank it higher than the last method.
Get everyone out - First of all, this does not mean they need to be rescued,
just that they must not remain in the building. You can
let the majority of the people jump out of the windows to
their death, just as long as they do not remain in the
building itself. I think this is generally a last resort
solution, as none of the actions should consider this as a
strategy to complete the level. Also, you loose out on
the bonus points from completing the round with people
remaining in the building.

LIFE = If the square is yellow, you have some health. If it is orange, that
square does not contain any health. You want a majority of yellow
squares instead of orange squares.
GRID = The grid will show your ground crew holding the landing mat in pink.
Anyone who jumps out of the building will be highlighted in yellow and
any items falling to the ground will be coloured in a dark blue.

02D) Helicopter Minigame [MR02D]

The objective of this minigame is to collect all the items that fall to the
bottom of the screen. I have not encountered one of these minigames where the
items all fall at the same item. The items do drop at various speeds, so an
item that fell first might not reach the bottom before another item.
The main strategy I use is to try and collect the item I think will reach the
bottom of the screen first, by judging the speed of each falling item. I will
also focus on any Extra Life in all my games, to ensure that I can get past any
level without experiencing a Game Over.
If you do manage to collect every item, the game will reward you with some
bonus points.

Within this section, I will explain my suggestion on clearing each action in
what I believe the be the best possible way. Each Action will have a rough
diagram on the left, showing the starting postition for the fire, people,
closed windows and any items that appear to stay in the same place. The right
side will show the amount of people that need to be rescued and how I suggest
you rescue them.
