INTRODUCTION
o---------------------o
Another FAQ to knock off the SMS Completion Project although I'm only taking a
temporary backseat to FAQing and letting my sister Renea do some FAQs while I
handle the formatting. Galaxy Force is a tough nut to crack that's for sure as
you only get one life and then it's game over. However, if you press the pause
button on top of the Master System then you will be invincible to all damage. I
am not trying to encourage you to cheat or this FAQ would be useless.

STORY
o---------------------o
In this distant Galaxy exist many systems harboring life. Trade and communica-
tion have arisen between these star systems, as has a great, dark force threat-
ening these distant civilizations. To fight this dark menace the Space Federa-
tion was formed, but has met with little success. The enemy calls itself THE
FOURTH EMPIRE and has now attacked JUNOS, jewel of the Galaxy. The JUNOS star
system, once so beautiful... is only ashes now. And on these ashes THE FOURTH
EMPIRE is building the strongest fortress of all time, from which to complete
their conquest of the galaxy. The Space Federation must end this evil menace!
Thus is launched Galaxy Force, to strike a hammer blow against the forces
threatening civilization. Fortunately, having done this duty of saving JUNOS
people and destroying THE FOURTH EMPIRE, a combatant of Galaxy Force returned
to the ship.

You can take up to 16 hits before your fighter is destroyed (assuming that you

the status of your shield.
White and Blue = Maximum protection
Blue and Green = High protection
Green and Yellow = Medium protection
Yellow and Red = Minimal protection

After being hit for the 16th time then your ship is destroyed and the game is
over. You do however, have unlimited continues so should you fail, try try again
until you succeed.

GAMEPLAY
o---------------------o
The planets can be chosen in any order but I'm describing everything from A to D
but regardless of which planet you finish last, you jump straight to the final
boss battle.
~Scene A: Green Planet - Nebula Difficulty Level: 1~
This takes place in outer space and it involves trying avoid flying into the
asteroids. The only thing green here is the core base. Hold the 1 button to
constantly fire your main gun as you fly around the screen to shoot the aster-
oids and also be sure to shoot any spaceships that come by. They come out in
packs. Use the missiles to home in on other ships that you can't quite hit.
Ships will also come in from behind. Don't worry about being hit in the back.
They won't touch you, just get in position to shoot them as they come in a wave.
Towards the end, you will catch a glimpse of what will eventually be the game's
final boss but you won't have to fight it right now. You still got to deal with
spaceships who will now shoot homing missiles at you then an enemy who looks as
if it came straight out of Space Harrier. Use missiles to defeat it. When you
lose control of your ship, that means you are about to enter the ship's core.
If you've played the arcade version of Gradius 3, this section will seem almost
familiar as you got to shoot the enemies on the ceiling and floor. Move your
ship up and down to avoid the homing missiles. When the word left or right shows
up, fly a little to that direction and then just let go. You are trying to
avoid crashing into the wall. You will crash into the inner wall if you don't
ease off the controls since the ship returns to the center automatically. That
is why I say touch the edge of indicated direction then let go and it will get
you back safely.
~Scene B: Red Planet - Solaria Difficulty Level: 2~
You are flying over somewhat of a volcano with lava spewing fire at the bottom.
The fire will not hurt you for the time being. It will only harm you if one of
the pillars erupt at which you can fly left of right to avoid that pillar. As
tempting as it sounds, don't even try to fly through the rings of fire that'll
sometimes show up. It's better to avoid them altogether. For this level, just
concentrate on shooting any of the ships that you come across. They immediately
start shooting homing missiles. While you are blasting them away, meteorites of
fire will rain down from the sides. They can harm your ship so keep an eye for a
gap in the strikes and fly through it and you should be safe from them. Survive
this ordeal and you will fly into a core that looks like a meteor with a hole in
it.
As expected, the inside of the core is red and the ordeal is the same as before,
fly up and down to avoid the homing missiles as much as possible then move in
the indicated direction to avoid crashing into the outer wall while trying not
to crash into the inner one. Drive through the core and the planet blows up. You
probably noticed by now that each planet will explode in a different fashion.
Green planet exploded in a chain reaction. Red planet straight goes boom. One
thing to note is that the turns are longer so you might want to keep turning
and easing to be safer.
~Scene C: Blue Planet - Fauna Difficulty Level: 3~
In this level, you are flying over a jungle and you will see a bunch of beehives
and the turrets you say in the core sections so far will show up on the surface
level here. Hold the 1 button to blast away at the hives. A new enemy you'll see
is one of swarm of bees circling around a head straight out of the movie called
Predator. No joke, the center head looks like that of a "Predator's". Towards
the end, you'll have to shoot a large ship and a swarm of bugs that fly in a
straight line that are hard to destroy. You will fly straight into a waterfall.
This is where the core for this level. It's kind of hard to see in this one but
it's not as long as the other cores. The explosion looks like fireworks bursting
in the air.
~Scene D: White Planet - Gobi Difficulty Level: 4~
This planet is a little bit hard to describe as there is a pink sky, and rocks
below. The real danger in this level is the massive tornados that come towards
you. However, you can avoid those easily. In addition to everyone you had met
in the Blue Planet, you will fight against giant moths instead of the beehives
from earlier. Aside from the tornados and moths, there is nothing you haven't
come across before in this level, just survive and enter the core and I'll note
that the turns come a little quicker than usual. Because this is somewhat of a
gaseous planet, it will implode instead of explode.
~Final Level~
After clearing all four planet missions, you will face the final boss in a major
dogfight. The boss is a giant aircraft that'll fly by you from various random
directions and shoot homing missiles at you. Get in your shots as it passes by
then fly around the screen to avoid being hit by its shots. When the ship blows
up, you win the game.

EPILOUGE
o---------------------o
Thanks to your outstanding courage and efforts far beyond the call of duty. The
evil forces of the fourth empire have now been completely destroyed. Not only
the people of the Junos system but also every single civilization in this galaxy
give a resounding ovation to your achievement. Your name shall be long remember-
ed as the ace of the ace commandos in the Galaxy Force.
