Casino Games is my next FAQ for the Sega Master System Completion Project. It
is a project set up at the FAQ Contributors Board at GameFAQs to give all Sega
Master System games a FAQ. It was started by Masamune3 in the case of the Sega
Master System but there are projects like that for other consoles too.

Are you brave enough to stake a fortune on a turn of a card? Is lady luck
smiling on you... or hiding her face? Casino Games will test your luck, skill,
and bravado as you try to game your way to a fortune!

[1] [Q]. What are those numbers like [A300] next to the title of every section?
   [A] It is the search engine of this FAQ. Press Ctrl and F. Type in the
       search code for the section you want to go to. You should be there in
       two steps.

[2] [Q]. Does this game have a real ending?
   [A] Yes, you just need to earn one million. The game also contains a Game
       Over movie. (Thanks goes out to HawkClay who showed me there is a real
       ending.)

>> CONTROL PAD >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The Control Pad is used like regular. You move the Cursor in the menus and
Poker. You use the Left Button to control the left Bumper in Pinball.

>> 1/START >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
When you first start this game without reading the manual, you'll be very
confused. You'll have to choose a name but every time you press A, nothing
happens. That is because the function of the 1/START is to cancel a decision.

>> 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Unlike in all the other games, the 2 is actually used to confirm your choices
in the menus and the games. You also use it to control the Right Bumper in
Pinball.

These aren't real cheats but Account Numbers for built in Accounts. Choose Mr
as Gender and pick SEGA as your name. Confirm your choice and say Yes at the
next screen. You'll have to type in a number now.

===============================================================================
    4.1- Basics of Cards                                                [A401]
===============================================================================

A regular deck consists out of 52 cards divided over four suits. They are
Spades, Hearts, Clubs, and Diamonds. The suits don't matter in these three
games. Each of the suits has thirteen ranks. The rank is Ace, King, Queen,
Jack, Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Six, Five, Four, Three, and Two. The King,
Queen, and the Jack are also called Face Cards.

===============================================================================
    4.2- Poker                                                          [A402]
===============================================================================

Poker is one of the games that are bet the most on. First, you have to choose
between one of the four opponents. Nancy is the easiest to beat so start with
her until you learn to play this game. The game starts with the dealer dealing
out five cards. After you get your cards, you can Bet, Pass, or Fold.

- Ante: This is the amount of money you have to put in the pot to participate
to the current game. This amount varies from player to player and game to game.

- Bet: This means that you bet on the game. The other players can either follow
you and Call, follow and raise, or fold.

- Call: This is simply following the previous bet. You have to Call if you want
to stay in the game. Otherwise, you're out for this round. This is done when
you have a little trust in your hand.

- Fold: You have to choose this when you don't think you'll wind the hand like
when you have only low cards. You do not longer compete to win.

- Raise: This means that you raise the bet and force the other players to
follow or pass. You can do this when you're bluffing and make them think you
have a good hand or when you do actually have one.

After the initial betting, you'll get a chance to change cards. You select
cards with the 2 Button and then press 1 to draw new ones. After that, you can
bet again or fold. If you bet and you both Call, you both show your cards and
the person with the highest cards win.

If you both have the same type of hand, the one with the higher cards will win.
For instance, if you both have four of a kind. The dealer has four of kind with
kings and you with Aces. This means that you win. If you both have exactly the
same thing, they look at the other cards in your hand. Whoever has the highest
wins, otherwise they'll look at the second highest and so on. If the hands are
exactly the same, there is a tie. Here are the types in order of the highest to
the lowest. Next to it, I mention what happens when you both have the same type
of hand.

- Royal Flush: A royal straight flush is when you have every card from the Ace
to the Ten in order from highest to lowest in the same suit. It is when you
have Ace - King - Queen - Jack - Ten in that order. This can't be topped unless
you have five of the same card.

- Straight Flush: A straight flush is when you have five cards that follow each
order in the same suit. The highest card of each hand is compared.

- Four of a Kind: When you have four cards of one kind, it is a four of a kind.
The one with the highest four of a kind wins. If they are both the same, you
look at the fifth card.

- Full House: A full house is a three of a kind and a pair. The one with the
highest three of a kind wins. If those are the same, the computer looks at the
pair.

- Flush: A flush is having five cards in the same suit. They don't have to
follow each other. If both player have a flush, the highest card is compared.
If those are equal, they compare the second highest and so on.

- Straight: A straight is when you have five cards that follow each. The
highest card of each hand is compared when both have the same type of hand. The
highest straight is Ace - King - Queen - Jack - Ten.

- Three of a Kind: This is when you have three cards of the same kind and two
cards that aren't a pair. If your triple Card is the same, they compare the
highest unpaired card. If those are equal, they compare the second highest.

- Two Pair: When you have two pairs and one regular card. The two pairs have to
be different from each. Otherwise, it is Four of a Kind. The highest pairs are
compared. If those are equal, they compare the second highest. After that, the
unpaired card is compared.

- One Pair: If you have one pair and just three regular cards next to that. The
hand with the highest pair wins. After that, the highest non-paired card is
compared. If those are equal, they compare the second highest and so on.

- High Card: If a hand doesn't fit in anywhere else, they compare the highest
cards of the hands. If those are equal, they compare the second highest and so
on.

===============================================================================
    4.3- Blackjack                                                      [A403]
===============================================================================

Blackjack is one of the more popular card games due to its nature; you don't
need a certain amount of players. It is usually played with about five players
and two or three decks in a casino but in this version you only use one full
deck.

The dealer gives you and him two cards. One of the cards is played up so you
can see it. Your score is calculated by adding up the Value of every card. Face
Cards have a value of ten. Just like in real life, an Ace can count as both
eleven and one. The game uses the rule that the Ace is counted as whatever is
best for the player so if you have an Ace and a Eight, it will count as an
eleven to give you a score of Nineteen. If you want, you can still draw a card,
if that card isn't an Ace or a Two, the Ace is automatically counted as one.

If your score is 17 or higher, it is advised to 'Stand' and both parties will
show their cards and see who won. If you have sixteen or lower, it is advised
to draw one or more cards extra. If you go over 21, you're busted and the other
party wins immediately.

The dealer follows a certain rule. He will stand if his score is seventeen or
higher. It is a rule followed in many real life casinos. Those are the basic
rules of Blackjack that are followed all over the world.

Double: If you have a score of eleven or something lower, you have the
possibility to double down. This means that both you can and the opponent can
draw one more card. This is best used when the opponent's Face Up Card is lower
than half of your score. For instance, when that card is a five or lower. Your
bet is raised too.

Split: If you have two of the same cards like two eights, you may choose to
split. You double your bet and the cards are split. You can draw extra cards
for both. One of the piles might lose and the other one might win evening out
your loss and profit.

Insurance: If the opponent's face up card is an Ace, the chance is big that he
might hit a 'Natural' or 'Blackjack'. You can choose to get Insurance. This
means that you pay an extra amount and you actually make profit. The chance is
rather big that the dealer hits Blackjack at those times so it is advised to
get the insurance.

===============================================================================
    4.4- Baccarat                                                       [A404]
===============================================================================

The real Baccarat is played with six or eight decks of cards depending on the
number of players. Because there is only one player and one dealer in this
version, only one deck is used while in real life, there are usually at least
twelve players and three dealers. The set-up of the game is still the same
though.

The person with the Highest Score wins but there are several ways this score is
calculated. Each player gets two cards. After the bet, the cards are shown to
the players. If the sum of the two cards is eight or nine, that player wins.
That is called a 'Natural'. If one player has eight and the other one has nine,
the one with nine wins.

The sum is calculated by adding up the amount that is shown on the card so a
four and a three gives you a score of seven. Face Cards and tens aren't
counted. Therefore, if you have a Face Card and a Ten, you have a score of
zero. If your score is higher than ten, the left digit is dropped so a sum of
11 equals a score of one.

You don't have to panic though. If your score is less than or equals five, the
dealer gives you an extra card. If your score is six or seven, you don't draw
an extra card but the bank might draw one. If one of the scores is eight or
nine, no one draws an extra card.

If you don't get an extra card, the bank might still draw one if its total
score is five or less. If you draw an extra card, a complex set of rules is
used to determine if he draws a card.

    - If the bank has two or less, it draws an extra card.

    - If the bank has three, it draws an extra card unless your third card was
      eight.

    - If the bank has four, it draws an extra card unless your third card was
      a zero, one, eight, or nine.

    - If the bank has five, it draws an extra card unless your third card was
      four, five, six, or seven.

    - If the bank has six, it draws an extra card unless your third card was a
      six or seven.

    - If the bank has seven, it doesn't draw an extra card.

Before you get to see your cards, you have to bet. That amount of money is then
subtracted from your money. If both players have the same score, they will get
their money back. If you win, you'll get double the money back. If you lose,
you don't get anything back. The minimum and maximum bet change depending on
the amount of money you own.

===============================================================================
    5.1- Casino Slots                                                   [A501]
===============================================================================

The slot machines are usually referred to as One Armed Bandits. This game
contains five Slot Machines. They are all the old standard Fruit Slot machines
where you have to line up pieces of fruit. The five different machines differ
from the amount you have to bet. There is one for $1, $5, $25, $50, and $100
coins.

After choosing a slot machine, you'll have to choose how much you're going to
bet. If you put in one coin, you'll only play on the middle line. Putting two
in makes you play on two lines and putting in three also gives you money for a
sloping line like in the following example.
_____________
/             \ To raise your incomings from winning, you can put in more coins
| 2 | 1  .  . | than three. You can put in nine coins maximum. That will triple
| 1 | .  1  . | your profit from winning but is more risky. After putting in
| 3 | .  .  1 | all the coins you want with the 2 Button, just press 1 to get
\_____________/ the machine running. Now you can press the 2 Button to stop
               each row or let it run and wait. It is better to press yourself
but study the movement and the speed of the slot machine first so that you know
when to press.

After the rolling ends, you'll get points for the following combinations. This
is a multiplying factor. It gives back that amount multiplied with your
original amount of coins for that line (1, 2, or 3). Therefore, a line with
three sevens on the $100 machine with one coin per row, gives you $5,000. A
combination with one cherry only seems to count when there are no Tomatoes in
the row and gives you two Tokens per Token you put in. A combination with two
cherries gives four.

    5.2- Pinball                                                        [A502]
===============================================================================

Pinball is the only game that seems to be in here for the fun and not for
getting extra money. You control the right and left bumper with the 2 Button
and the left part of the Control Pad. You launch the battle by pressing the 1
Button. Watch out and press it when the launcher is far away from the ball to
launch it harder.

Before getting in the game itself, you can choose the angle for the table. You
can choose between Gentle, Middle, and Steep. On a steep table, the ball comes
back faster and he'll move faster.

You score points for every item on the board the ball hits. You also get 5,000
bonus points for every time you go over 10,000 points. I get about 30,000 -
36,000 points for every three balls. You don't unlock any other Pinball
machines so it won't keep you busy for long if you don't like the table.
