Welcome to another FAQ of mine. This one covers the SMS game Ace of Aces. This
game is a relative rarity for most games - this game is a bit of a flight
simulator mixed with a bit of warfare. A decent combination, I'll admit, but
it is a little repetitive in the game itself.

Mode Descriptions:

There are two main modes - Practice and Mission(s).
Practice mode is where you just get used to flying the plane and used to
general combat. There is no particular goal to this mode. There are three
sub-modes for which you can choose your targets.
Mission(s) works similarly. However, it puts particular restrictions on what
you can use, weapon-wise, who you fight, and the like. You will be given a
mission map to help you determine your objectives. You will be coming from
England on the map, so note that. Afterwards, you choose your weaponry and get
to execute the mission.
General Objective:

Fly a plane and destroy other planes. It's a pretty simple objective, and one
you'll end up fulfilling with each mission. Sadly, I cannot provide a
walkthrough due to the random nature of plane placements and AI strategies, so
you're mostly on your own.
Flying!:
````````
You will physically pilot the plane from the cockpit (2 + Up). There are a
number of dials here. From left to right:
- Speed
- Plane (yellow) to horizon (red). If the plane is above the red, you're going
up; below, you're going down; in line, you're going steady.
- Your altimeter. Mostly just consider the shorter hand - it will point to the
number of kilometers you are above the ground.
- In the bottom-left is the compass. It names the direction you're going in.
- The bottom-right is your radar.
When flying, using Down will make you ascend; Up to descend; Left to go left;
and Right to go right. Look at your horizon thingy and compass to see what's
going on with them.
You can also fire your gun (1 Button). It will fire at whatever is in the
center of the targeting cursor. Remember, you have a limited ammo supply, so
don't be wasteful! You will encounter planes when you fly, which is the purpose
of the guns.
Wing Manipulation:

You can go here with Left/Right + 2 for the port and starboard wings,
respectively.
Here, you can hold the 1 Button and use the D-Pad to adjust various things
individual to the wing, including:
- Boost, or speed
- RPM, another way of saying "speed"
- Gear, which affects maximum and minimum wing boosts and RPMs
- Flap, which will lower air resistance if the switch is up, boosting speed
- Trim, which seems to have no effect whatsoever
- Whether the wing is on or off (don't even TOUCH this)
You can also see the fuel left for the wing in the top-right corner of the
heads-up display.
Storage:
````````
You get here with Down + 2.
Sadly, all that you really are allowed to mess with, it seems, is whether you
can use machine guns or rockets - use the D-Pad to go over to those options,
then use Left/Right + 1 Button to switch.
