hope to play agains Brazil or something). Kinda good, get it as soon as
you can!

This manga talks about a boy who enjoys playing soccer more than anything in
his life. The story starts when he moves into a new city, where he meets
Ishizaki and the great goalkeeper Genzo Wakabayashi from the Shutetsu school,
the champion of Japan. After a individual confrontation between them, Tsubasa
meets Roberto Hongo, which will be his coach, and we assist to the great game
"Nankatsu vs. Shutetsu". In the middle of the game Taro Misaki arrives and he
will form the "Golden Combination" with Tsubasa, ending the game by 2-2.
Together they will play on a new team, Nankatsu (yeah, the same name but a
different team) and come up to the national championship, where they start by
losing against Meiwa (with Kojiro Hyuga and Takeshi Sawada in it) by 6-7, they
win to Tachibana Twins’ Hanawa (those two had a really strange but original way
of playing) by 3-2, to Nakanishi’s Naniwa by 5-1 and to Jun Misugi’s Mushashi
(he was really good, but had heart problems) by 5-4. So, the finals will be...
"Nankatsu vs. Meiwa" (again!), but this time it will be even more interesting
since both team have new goalkeepers, as Ken Wakashimazu for Meiwa and
Wakabayashi for Nankatsu (he was hurt, so he hadn’t play up to now; this will
be his last game, since he is going to Germany to became a professional
player), finishing this very long game by 4-2, Nankatsu winning. I shall
mention Nankatsu’s first goal, in which Misaki (this was his last game too,
since his father was going to move to another place) and Tsubasa shoot at the
same time, using an impressive technique that will be called "Twin Shot".
The story continues 2 years from that championship, during this time Tsubasa
won two other times the national championship and tries to win a third time,
feat never achieved by anyone else. After playing against Azuma-ichi, a team in
which a really rough player named Sõda plays (he damages Tsubasa), they play
against some old pals, like Hanawa (Tachibana twins used a new technique called
Skylab) and Tsubasa finally master a shot that will be his special, the Drive
Shot, against the giant Hiroshi Jito, who played for Hirado. On the finals they
play against Toho, a team from Tokyo in which Hyuga, Wakashimazu and Takeshi
now play. Well... sort of, the coach didn’t want Hyuga to play but he did it
after all, using his special, Tiger Shot. After another long game, it finishes
in a tie (4-4), being both teams called winner (in this national tournament
there aren’t any penalty kicks in the end of the games)...
Now the best players will go into the national team in order to play in an
international tournament in France. After some preparation matches, one of
which against Wakabayashi and Karl Heinz Schneider (the "Kaiser" of European
Soccer, both playing for Hamburg SV), they win to Italy and their "Perfect
Keeper" Gino Hernandez by 2-1 and to Argentina (with "soccer prodigy" Diaz and
his friend Pascual, Diaz was surely impressive but Japan's team work made them
win). After wining to France in the penalty kicks (5-4), they will finally play
to Germany, which includes Schneider (the "Kaiser"), Kartz, Magas (or Margus, I
prefer using the first one since it sounds me better), Schester and Dutter
Muller (a giant keeper), and they win by 3-2. Tsubasa goes to Brazil, to play
for San Paulo FC with his old coach from the times of early Nankatsu, Roberto
Hongõ. And this is where the first set of manga’s finish, after 37 chapters...
0.2 Story of Captain Tsubasa World Youth
This set of 18 chapters starts with the presentation of a new japanese
character named Aoi Shingo, who becomes a fan of Tsubasa after his team being
beaten by Nankatsu (Tsubasa's old team in Japan), so he goes to Italy in order
to be a better player. After much trouble, he gets to join Inter Milan, whose
goalkeeper is Gino Hernandez, who becomes Shingo's friend. Then, we get to see
the brazillian championship's final, Tsubasa against the brazillian prodigy,
Carlos Santana, who (like Tsubasa) is also able to learn some of the opponent's
techniques. At the same time, a plot from Gamo (a coach that now appears) is
unveiled... He made a team of seven players (Real Japan 7, if you are
wondering) that would confront the japanese nation team (split in 3 groups of 7
players), and if those last ones lost, 7 players would be thrown out of the
team. Sadly, they lost, so Hyuga, Misaki, Jitõ, Sõda, Nitta, Masao and Kazuo
Tachibana are thrown out of the team and Wakashimazu also leaves the team (he
says he doesn't want to be just a replacement for Wakabayashi), making harder
to Japan getting a win in the coming event, Asian Cup. With the help of Tsubasa
(that came back from Brazil) they manage to win the first two matches, but they
have a hard time against Thailand, since the 3 Konsawatto brothers are really
good at aerial soccer and Shinpurasu Bunnark (a tough defender who uses his
Muay-Thai skills in the field) can hurt Tsubasa, making him not able to attack.
Luckly, Wakabayashi arrives when the score was 4-1, and although he can't catch
any balls (he had both hands broken, due to shots of Levin and Cruyfford) he
manages to stop all of the opponent's shots, Shingo also appears and his
combinated moves with Tsubasa make Japan being able to win this match by 5-4.
During that time, the 7 players that were thrown out were training hard in
order to get new techniques, so Hyuga manages to develop one of the best shots
ever seen, the Rayju (if you are wondering, it is a thunder related beast from
japanese mythology) Shot. Due to those new techniques those players can (this
time) defeat R.J.7 and enter the national team in order to play in the Asian
Cup. They beat teams like Saudi Arabia (from whose captain, the prince Mark
Owaiaran, appears to be one of the best defenders ever), China (with a player
named Shõ that is able to counter most shots with his "Dragon Counter Shot")
and South Korea. By doing so, they get to join the World Cup (for players less
than 20 years old)... They start by playing against Mexico, whose great
goalkeeper, Ricardo Espadas, was able to stop Hyuga's Rayju Shoot, but despite
the difficulties they manage to beat them by 2-1. Against Uruguay, they have
another hard match, mainly because Ryoma Hino (the "Japanese Bomber", one of
R.J.7's players, who had double nationality) is also playing and his Tornado
Shot is great, finally they beat it by 6-5. Against Italy they have an easy
match since both Hernandez and Salvatore Gentile ("European Libero One") were
hurt due to Hino's Tornado Shot, and they win 4-0. On the quarters of final
they get to play against Sweden, who had great players like Larrson,
Fredericks, Brolin (a good defender who manages to stop Hyuga's Rayju Shot) and
Levin (yep, the same player who had injured Wakabayashi), but due to the
appearence of the impressive defender Akai Tomeiya (replacing Matsuyama, his
mate Fujisawa was in the hospital), who stops every of Levin's Levin Shot
(yeah, he has a technique with his name ^_^ ) they win 1-0. In the Half Finals
they get to play against Holland, their captain Brian Cruyfford (the other
player that injured Wakabayashi) was playing but UNFORTUNATELY we don't get to
see the match, for some "not interesting" reason, we only know that they won
1-0. Finally, they get to the World Cup's finals and they will be playing
against....... Brazil, whose coach is Roberto Hongo (Tsubasa's old coach at
Japan and Brazil), who says that Tsubasa wouldn't be able to win this time.
After a first half time in which Brazil was surely better than Japan, Santana
is able to score a goal to Wakabayashi. Japan counter with a great Twin
Overhead Shot by Tsubasa and Misaki's Golden Combination and even score another
goal with Seiki Rayju Shot (in which Rayju is used as a pass and Tsubasa and
Misaki shoot with a Twin Shot). When the match was almost over, Roberto uses
his secret player named Naturezza, who is even able to score a goal to
Wakabayashi FROM OUTSIDE THE GOAL AREA (!), making a tie. On the extra time the
hard match continues, but at the end Tsubasa finishes by surpassing the great
player Naturezza and scores a goal, making Japan win the World Cup (for player
that have less than 20 years old). We also get to know that Sanae and Tsubasa
get married and this last one goes to play for Barcelona, a spanish team, and
all the other players join other teams, mainly those of J-League, but some
(like Hyuga, who will play for Juventus) continue to play in their teams, like
Akai Tomeiya... And that's how those chapters of the manga finish.

All the data in this section was taken from the amazing book "Captain Tsubasa
3109 days perfect data", by Yoichi Takahashi. I didn't just made it up or
something like that, all this was translated directly from the book, hope you
like it! ;) I'll only be referring the data that is given, so don't think I'll
cover EVERY player... The data is formatted like this:

After watching the (impressive) intro just be ready to play one of the
easiest matches ever...
Tsubasa vs Wakabayashi
Easy, just dribble (using Tsubasa's dribble which costs 15 "energy") up
to their goal area and shoot, Wakabayashi will send the ball away but
then Roberto will center and Tsubasa will score a goal to the S.G.G.K.
Nankatsu vs Nishigaoka
Well, the first match... They just have a good player, Urabe, which may
cause you some trouble... although this will be an easy match, watch out
for the opponent shots since your GK is going to be Morisaki... As for
striking, just try passing the ball to tsubasa inside the opponent goal
area and everything will go fine.
Nankatsu vs Shutetsu
Huh, this isn't difficult at all... Just use Tsubasa to score to
Wakabayashi (shooting from inside the penalty area, of course, since
only he can score) and all the other players in your team to back him
up. At half time you will loose Ishizaki (since he is hurt in his leg)
but Misaki will appear and play for Ishizaki, making this match even
easier. After winning, wait a little a see a funny "Captain Tsubasa
Break Time". LOLOLOLOLOL
Nankatsu SC vs Fuji SC
Easy match, Wakabayashi can stop every of the opponent shots plus you
can score easily with almost any of your players, so just try striking
and scoring as much as possible.
Nankatsu SC vs Hamana FC
Hum, kinda hard to score, but just keep on trying using both Tsubasa and
Misaki and everything will go fine.
Nankatsu SC vs Shimashou
Again, with a small help from Tsubasa/Misaki's golden combination you
will get a win.
Nankatsu SC vs Shimizu FC
Once again, use Tsubasa and Misaki for scoring and all the others for
backup and defend, be careful because Wakabayashi is hurt and his wound
may get worse. :(
Nankatsu SC vs Meiwa FC
Kinda hard... Kojiro Hyuga is able to score from almost anywhere the
field and his combination with Sawada is a pretty good one. Try scoring
your own great combination, the one from Misaki and Tsubasa, but I don't
believe you have any chance of winning at all... After LOOSING this
match, keep on playing...
Nankatsu SC vs Osu SS
Just strike with all you've got and you will surely get a win, since the
opponent team isn't good at all.
Nankatsu SC vs ????
Easy match, use Tsubasa (with his Special Shot) and Misaki for scoring
and you can win easily.
Nankatsu SC vs Hanawa
Huh, the worst match up to now... Only Tsubasa and Misaki can score, but
you must be really careful with the Tachibana Twins, since their great
combination and their triangle combination shot can really cause you
some trouble if you are at a low level (like I was)... Tsubasa's special
shot can score from inside the penalty area as well as from corner
kicks, so if you get a chance for it just use it wisely. The Tachibana
Twins can score really fast, so try preventing them from ever getting
the ball or, if it happens (and it surely will) try to take it from them
as soon as possible. Don't be afraid if you loose, just keep on playing
for leveling up and having an easier match next time.
Nankatsu SC vs Naniwa
Easy match, their team isn't good at all... ALWAYS have Morisaki punch
the ball away and strike with Tsubasa's special shot or Overhead Shot
and Misaki's own Overhead shot
Nankatsu SC vs ???
Hum, i forgot to translate their team's name... well, quite an easy
match if you are not at a low level, since one of the opponent players
has a very special shot... Just score using Tsubasa's special shot and
defend with all the other players.
Meiwa FC vs Furano
Kinda hard... sometimes Hyuga's Special Shot can score from almost
anywhere on field... try attacking with him since he is your best
player, just be careful with Matsuyama (Furano's captain, he has a
special dribble just like Tsubasa) and Furano's incredible team play,
which may put you into trouble. After half time you will receive another
very good player, the GK Ken Wakashimazu, who's Sankakugeri (his special
catch, the one he uses the goal posts) will save your goals at least
once.
Nankatsu SC vs Musashi
Pretty good match... their main player, Misugi, has heart problems, so
if Tsubasa takes him the ball (or damages him? I'm not sure about this)
he will have an heart attack... maybe this only occurs in the second
part of the match... well... Misugi is a very good player, with a really
amazing special shot and a great dribble... Try scoring with Tsubasa's
Overhead Shot or with his Special Shot and use Misaki to back him up.
Maybe you should lose before proceeding, so that next match can be a
little easier...
Nankatsu SC vs Meiwa FC
The final match of the tournament, you will get Wakabayashi for this
one. This will be really hard, their GK Ken Wakashimazu is really
tough... the best way to score is by using Tsubasa and Misaki's Twin
Shot (it costs 200 "energy"), the first one you use will surely score
but from there on not even that will be certain... Hyuga is a very good
striker, he can score to Wakabayashi even from a far distance (yep, even
from outside the penalty area) and his combination with Takeshi can
surely cause you some trouble. Well, I believe you must loose a lot just
to build up some levels, since this will be reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyy hard...
Just remenber, attack with Tsubasa and Misaki's Twin Shot, backup with
Izawa, Kisugi and Taki and finally defend with the rest of the team.
After a few tries you will get a win... THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT, LOSE A
BIT JUST TO LEVEL UP, SO THAT NEXT MATCHES WOULD BE A LOT EASIER.
Nankatsu vs Itou
Easy match, strike as much as you can... Tsubasa's special can score
even from a large distance! Since your GK is going to be Morisaki from
now on, be careful since he is quite weak.
Nankatsu vs Hamanaka?
Another easy match... do the same as before but try striking with
Tsubasa near the opponent goals...
Nankatsu vs Akibe?
Hum, their GK is good but not enough for Tsubasa's Overhead Shot. They
have a player that also has a special shot that looks like the one of
Tsubasa, so be careful with it and score as many goals as you can.
Nankatsu vs Ohtomo
You will be fighting some former players of your team... Just be careful
with Urabe (him and all the defensive players are pretty good at their
job) and Nitta, their main striker, who can score easily if you let him
have the ball for a long time. For scoring, just use Tsubasa's Overhead
Shot or his special shot, both of them inside the opponent's penalty
area.
Toho vs Musashi
Hyuga, Sorimachi, Sawada and Wakashimazu vs Misugi... Easy, just strike
with Hyuga (his special shot still works fine) and back him up with
Sorimachi, who should strike inside the penalty area. Sawada can be used
to help Hyuga going up the field... As for your GK, Wakashimazu, he
should always use his specials to defend your goals... his special
"punch" (Shuto I guess) can stop Misugi's Special Overhead Shot.
Nankatsu vs Azuma-ichi
This new championship begins... Soda, the opponent's best player, can
score easily with his Kamisori Shot, so prevent him from developing his
game. Also, the opponent's GK is quite good, so it can be somehow
difficult to score; for having any real chance, pass the ball to Tsubasa
and use his special shot right in front of the GK, so he won't be able
to use his special catch. After half time Tsubasa will learn his new
Shot, the Drive Shot (it costs 200 "energy") which can score even
without the opponent GK being able to move. Use it wisely.
Nankatsu vs Nishikigaoka
Easy match, just strike and you will win... almost every player can
score.
Nankatsu vs Hanawa
This won't be difficult at all... The Tachibana Twins' have 2 new
techniques, the Twin Shot and the Skylab, but Morisaki will be able to
punch the ball away almost all the time... Try stoping those two folks
from doing their game, as you strike with Tsubasa's Drive Shot, which
still is very effective.
Furano vs Minamiuwa
Really easy! Matsuyama's Eagle Shot works really fine even from large
distances (yep, I believe it is even better than Tsubasa's Drive Shot)
so use it always this player has the ball. The opponent team's captain,
Ishida, isn't good at all but one of their players has a really strong
headshot, so try preventing him from ever trying it.
Nankatsu vs Hirado
Kinda easy... The opponent team just has 2 good players, Jito (a
defensive player) and Sano (their striker) but they won't cause many
problems... Jito has a really strong shot which will surely score but
most of the times he passes to Sano, who has a not-very-good special
dribble and an Overhead shot. Use Tsubasa and your best striker to
score, but be careful because Tsubasa's Drive Shot may be stopped by
Jito sometimes.
Nankatsu vs Furano
Hum, be very careful with Matsuyama's Eagle Shot, you already know how
powerful it is. Score with Tsubasa's Drive Shot and backup with the rest
of the team, as usual.
Nankatsu vs Toho
REALLY HARD! As soon as the level begins Hyuga will get the ball and
shoot using his new and impressive Tiger Shot, which will blow the ball
up. Now the real match begins... the best way to score is by using
Tsubasa's Drive Shot right in front of Wakashimazu, since he is able to
stop most of your shots (EVEN Tsubasa's Drive Shot!). You must also be
really careful with Hyuga and especially Sawada, since this last one
doesn't have any specials except for the great combinations he can
perform with Sawada and Hyuga... Hyuga also has a Overhead Tiger Shot,
which will surely score (yep, in the manga it even blow Morisaki and
Tsubasa away)... So, how can you win? Like I already said, Tsubasa
should use his Drive shot right in front of Wakashimazu, Izawa, Kisugi
and Taki should be used to advance in the field and all the others must
be used to stop the opponent's attacks, mainly the ones of Hyuga and
Sawada, although you should also be careful with Sorimachi. Try a lot,
THIS IS HARD, so don't bother if you lose... try again later! Good luck!
2. Controls
If you have the ball the keys are left to pass, up to dribble, right to
shoot at goal and down to make a combination (you'll pass the ball to a
player and he will pass back). If you don't have the ball, left will be
to try to intercept the ball, up will tackle the opposite player, right
will block the opponent player (careful, you may get foul; however, you
will never get cards... :-) ) and down won't do anything (only useful if
your character is out of "energy"). You just need to press which side
you want to select and then press the "A" key to select it. If that
character has any special abilities that move will be displayed in red,
select it and a move's list will appear, followed by the "energy" cost.
There are some more keys but I think you'll get them by yourself, I only
referred the basic ones.
3. Questions
Question: Where can i get this game?
Answer: It's really hard to find nowadays. Sorry but I can't help you
with that. :-/
Question: In the match Nankatsu - Tohou, how can I score a goal to
Wakashimazu?
Answer: As you have already discovered, that is the most difficult match
in the entire game. The best techniques are to use Tsubasa's Drive Shot
right in front of Wakashimazu (WITHOUT ANYONE in front of you) or try to
dribble him with Tsubasa's best dribbling technique, at a certain point
you will be able to score. If (still) you can't score, try levelling up,
it is surely worth it. A special mention should be given to Wakashimazu's
Shutou defense, which is a random event and is able to stop ANY shot you
throw at him.
