               Appendix "A" for the Saturn Edition

This FAQ is intended as a supplement to the standard, arcade version FAQs
that are readily available. Specifically, it's intended to cover the three
characters in the Saturn version, Phobos, Pyron, and Donovan, that don't
appear in the arcade version. And I'll probably discuss some of the
Saturn-exclusive features like EX Options in future versions.

Incidentally, if you're looking for play mechanics, it would be best to
check out one of the other fine, full FAQs available at
http://www.gamefaqs.com. I really didn't want to get into all that since
this is basically just a supplement.

I'll be as thorough as I can about Donovan, Phobos, and Pyron, though,
because I always like big informative FAQs myself, but I'm sure I'll
forget things along the way, so don't hesitate to send comments and

B  - press back (away from opponent)
F  - press forward (toward opponent)
U  - press up
D  - press down
DB - press down and back (away from opponent)
DF - press down and forward (toward opponent)
UB - press up and back (away from opponent)
UF - press up and forward (toward opponent)

JP - jab, or light punch

        Decoration EX special or Demitri's Midnight Bliss EX special.

Ball - Form the fighter takes when hit by Zabel's Hell Dunk EX special

Character Profiles

Donovan Baine
-------------

Type: Dark Hunter

Curse: Little girl with plate of food on her head, and tiny sword.
Female: Lanky, dark skinned girl dressed like Donovan.
Ball: One of Donovan's beads. When the ball bounces, it becomes several
     smaller beads.
Taunt: Donovan points at his opponent and says something in Japanese.

Special Moves

Flame Sword

F, DF, F + any punch

A flame elemental appears above Donovan and swings his flaming sword
upward. Sets opponent on fire. Button strength determines persistence of
the swing.

ES: The elemental swings the sword two additional times.

This move is Donovan's Guard Cancel.

Blizzard Sword

B, DB, D, DF, F + any punch

An ice elemental appears above Donovan and throws a large snowflake.
Freezes opponent if it hits. Button strength determines distance and angle
of the snowflake.

ES: The elemental tosses three snowflakes in succession.

Lightning Sword

B, D, DB + any punch

A lightning elemental appears above Donovan and uses Donovan's sword to
stab forward multiple times. Electrocutes opponent if it hits. Button
strength determines duration of attack.

ES: Attack does more hits.

Sword Plant

B, D, DB + any kick

Donovan thrusts his sword into the ground at his feet. The sword then
sinks into the ground and rises in a location determined by the strength
of the kick button pressed:

SK - Sword stays in place at Donovan's feet.
FK - Sword rises about halfway across the screen.
RK - Sword rires on the other side of the screen from Donovan.

ES: The sword glows as Donovan plants it. The only noticeable effect is
that The sword will hit twice: once going towaard the opponent and once
coming back through them on its way back to Donovan.

Donovan can then follow up with one of two moves. If the sword stays
planted for too long, it goes into a funny "bored" animation.

Sword Call

B, D, DB + any kick

Donovan gestures and his sword is uprooted and returns to him, hitting his
opponent if they happen to be in the way.

Bolt Sword

B, D, DB + any punch

A Lightning elemental (a different one) rises behind Donovan, gestures
with her trident, and a bolt of lightning stikes the planted sword. Button
press determines the number of bolts that strike.

JP - One bolt
SP - Two bolts
FP - Three bolts

ES: Four bolts strike in succession.

Note that while the sword is planted, Donovan may only perform these two
specials, and the Change Immortal EX special, and his normal punch moves
have a shorter range.

Blade Surf

D + any kick (air only)

Donovan stands atop his blade and "surfs" downward somewhat slowly and at
an angle. Button strangth determines the angle af descent.

Sword Grapple (throw)

F, DF, D, DB, B + any punch

Donovan entangles his opponent in his beads and his sword spins around,
striking the opponent for damage.

Change Immortal

SP, JP, B, SK, FK

Donovan hunches over and is surrounded by a ring of flame as he changes
into a winged, fierce looking demon. He then flies forward hovering just
over the ground. Hits for electrical damage.

Spirit Press

B, DB, D, DF, F + 2K

Donovan gestures and a gigantic god appears, stomping downward for a large
amount of damage. This attack will hit an opponent who is on the ground.
Whichever two kicks are pressed determine the location of the press:

SK+FK - right in front of Donovan
FK+RK - in the middle of the screen
SK+RK - at the other side of the screen from Donovan

Each attack that Donovan makes gets an additional hit from his sword.

Phobos
------

Type: Robot
Origin: Mexico
Birth year: 520 AD
Height: 7'3"
Weight: 2.27 Tons

Curse: a small, doll-like robot with stubby arms and legs.
Female: A little Mayan girl.
Ball: A ball with Phobos' face on it.
Taunt: Phobos sticks its hand out as if to attack and a little iceball
falls out of his arm.

Phobos shoots a beam of energy that freezes its opponent.

Phobos crouches and shoots a beam of energy that freezes its opponent.

same regardless of whether kick or punch is used.)

Genocide Vulcan

Phobos shoots a thin, diagonal beam upward, hitting its opponent for
several hits. Good when used very close to the opponent and on jumping
opponents.

ES: The Vulcan hits many more times.

Bomb Thrower

D, DB, B + K (air)

Phobos rears back slightly and spits out a bomb which hits for explosive
damage. Strength of the button determines size of the bomb.

ES: The bomb is much larger and hits multiple times.

Mine Layer

D, DB, B + P (air)

Phobos rears back and spits out a small mine that lands, sits for a
moment, then creates a small electrical field that hits the opponent for
electrical damage.

ES: Phobos drops two large bombs.

Guardian Shield

F, D, DF + any punch

Note: this move is a guard cancel only.
Phobos does his usual force field block animation, but the shield pushes
the opponent back a bit.

Circuit Scrapper

Phobos turns into a magnet, grabs the enemy and shoots them up off the
screen.

ES: Phobos slams its opponent into the ground several times before
launching them.

Final Guardian Beta

F, D, DF + 2K

Phobos shoots a small glowing ball toward its opponent. It the ball hits,
the opponent is stunned and Phobos transforms into gigantic battery of
guns, hitting multiple times.

Delayed Blast Bomb

B, D, DB + 2K

Phobos launches a pair of small glowing spheres which travel toward its
enemy. The spheres themselves do no damage, but when they reach a certain
distance from Phobos (determined by which two buttons are pressed, they
will detonate, causing multiple hits.

       light coming from her eyes.
Ball: A little white-yellow flaming ball with eyes.
Taunt: Pyron tips forward in his missed-throw animation.

Sol Smasher

D, DF, F + any punch (air)

Pyron shoots a large ball of magma toward his opponent, hitting for flame
damage. The button pressed determines the movement of the magma:

JP: The ball shoots straight forward.
SP: The ball moves forward, then arcs upward sightly.
FP: The ball arcs sharply upward almost immediately.

In the air, the ball travels diagonally downward. It's angle is contolled
slightly by the button used.

ES: The ball hits multiple times.

Zodiac Fire

F, D, DF + any punch

This is Pyron's guard cancel.
Pyron transforms into a wheel of fire which rolls quickly toward the
opponent.

ES: The wheel his multiple times.

Orbital Blaze

D, DB, B + any kick (air only)

Pyron spins quickly toward his opponent, arcing downward slightly. The
button used determines the distance he travels.

Galaxy Trip

Pyron disappears in a ball of fire and reappears in another location. The
button used determines the location where he will reappear:

JP: Upper left corner
SP: Upper middle
FP: Upper right
SK: Lower left corner
FK: Lower middle
RK: Lower right corner

Burning Planet (throw)

F, DF, D, DB, B + SP or FP

Pyron grabs his opponent, encircles them in globe of fire, rises into the
air, and slams back into the ground.

ES: Pyron bounces the captured opponent several times before slamming them
down.

Cosmic Disruption

B, DB, D, DF, F + 2P or 2K

Pyron points forward and releases several small balls of energy which
travel forward and explode. Punches cause the explosions to occur close to
Pyron, and kicks cause the explosions to occur across the screen. Holding
the buttons down will cause a delay in the explosion but increase the
strength of the attack.

Other notes about Donovan, Phobos, and Pyron
--------------------------------------------

Holding down the L button while selecting any of the three will apparently
choose a Vampire Hunter version of the fighter. The only difference I've
noticed is that Phobos can hover like he did in VH. Otherwise, there
doesn't seem to be any difference. It seems likely that only Phobos has an
alternate version.

Out of the three, Phobos has changed the most. He now has mostly new
animations to his special and regular moves, and even a few altogether new
moves.
