03.) UNO G0300
===============================================================================
As a general rule, use はい/いいえ (Yes/No) for selections.
At the start of the game everyone is dealt seven cards. The default clockwise
order of play starts as each player attempts to get rid of all their cards, and
prevent others from getting to this goal first. Each round you are allowed to
play one card. If you cannot play a card you need to draw one from the pile.
There are three options to play a card:
- Play the same color
- Play the same card with a different color
- Play a wildcard
If you cannot play any of your cards you must draw a card. If you can play the
card from the pile then you can immediately play it now (or choose not to).
The cards in detail:
Numbers These are 0-9 in four different colors.
Reverse The order of play is reversed.
Skip Four color variants; next player's turn is skipped.
Draw2 Four color variants; next player must draw 2 cards and skip their
turn.
Wild Pick a new color
WildDraw4 Pick a new color (see Wild) and the next player must draw 4 cards and
skip their turn. This card is only allowed to be played when no alternative
card can be used.
Picking a new color shows a dialog box (yellow - きいろ, green - みどり, blue -
あお, red - あか, the chalk changes color as you select).
At any point when a player uses the WildDraw4 card the next player is allowed
to challenge this move. As you know this card is only allowed to be used when
there are no alternatives available. A player could lie and play the card
anyway and this is what you want to challenge. Determine how many cards the
player has and guess if the player could have played another card. Perhaps
that player is desperate to have the next player draw four cards or change the
color of the pile. Bluffing is the key here but keep it intelligent. No-one is
going to believe you can use this card when you have like eight or so cards.
A player in the game will eventually be down to the last card. While discaring
the second last the player must call "UNO" to inform the other players of the
situation. If the player fails to do so and the next player points this out by
challenging then that player is forced to draw two cards as penalty. Always
make sure you call out "UNO" to avoid this mistake.
There are two ways to win the overall game. The setting in the game either have
a number of points to reach or the number of games to win.
Score:
``````
International Rule: The winner gets the points.
Japanese Rule: The winner gets the points and the losers get minus points for
their cards.
As you can see the Japanese rules makes the gap from International to Japanese
makes winning even more important. Either way the points are determine by the
cards you have at the end of the game. It might be a good idea not to end the
game by having a wild card in hand.
