A. -Characters Introduction-
Sinbios
The main character of the game (and the most powerful character when you
get the Shining Sword that commands the Phoenix elemental magic), his
power attacks pack a punch. He has the Return spell and the Spark
Elemental spell! You can equip him with swords, daggers, sabres and
fences. Strangely enough, he never spoke a single word, not even an
alphabet, in the whole of Scenario I. Maybe something happened to him
(or rather his mouth) that he decided not to talk anymore (no wonder his
mouth looks misshapen)? Enough with the jokes, so that's this much about
him. He looks quite handsome though. I prefer his look before he was
promoted. Wait.... just something to add on....! Different weapons
results in the number of power attacks he masters or does, so, like what
Grandchester Resurrection wrote in his FAQ, it is best to equip Sinbios
with swords.
Weakness: When killed, goes back to church and battle has to restart,
and most enemies like to attack him. Equip him with the healing bracelet
to counter this problem. If he is struck by the Madness spell, he will
attack his teammates and cause a great loss of members. Has very low MP,
making spell casting limited to about five Level 1 Spark spell even at
level 18! Low defense and offense at Level 1, not promoted. But as he
reaches Level 3, the problem is countered naturally and becomes as good
as Dantares. He becomes more powerful than Dantares at Level 6, not
promoted, and continues to be more powerful than Dantares.
Strength: Only person who can equip the Shining Sword, and can command
the Phoenix spell, also has the very powerful Spark Elemental spell.
Attacks extremely well and power attacks are extremely good. High
defense, offense and HP. Long walking range.
Dantares
He is the second strongest guy in Shining Force III. He does very well
in power attacks and normal attacks when equipped with lances or
partisans. I prefer equipping him with lances because the damage he does
with the lance is much higher than that of a partisan, but it all
depends on the game play. I found out that once you master a power
attack with a normal weapon, the weapon seems to `get stronger', meaning
the attack power is higher than that of the beginning when the weapon
was just bought. That is just my assumption, the amount of truth in it,
I'm not sure about it. Another thing is, when you are fighting or not
fighting, look at the character list by choosing the particulars mode or
whatever you call it, then press back or front and look around it, if
you take special notice, when the bracket is put on top of Sinbios,
Dantares' attack power increases by ten. Meaning, if Dantares is
fighting side by side with Sinbios, he does more damage on the
opponents. Try looking around in this manner for other characters, some
doesn't have this special `ability' while most of the others have. I'm
quite sure about this `thing'. Correction. I know something now. This is
an alteration to my previous sentence. As you fight, sometimes, when you
assist your other characters in any way, they will sort of have some
`friendship ties', as the Japanese words wrote, and so results in such
special circumstances. I just notice it in my previous game play and
found out something about this. To confirm the truth in this, it is best
to check with a Japanese owner of the Shining Force III Scenario I CD.
Anyway, he is also very handsome, more handsome than Sinbios (that's
what my sister says).
Weakness: Low magic defense. Counter this problem by equipping him with
the Special Lance, or Special Partisan. Too handsome, many woman
fighters like to go after him. Just kidding! Slightly above average
defense against attacks. Make up by getting him to the ten over levels.
No magic, cannot attack a group of people.
Strength: Good offense and walking range. Learns power attacks very fast
and has a high ability in counter attacking. Frequent power attacks.
Grace
She is a very strong healer indeed. I found out that she heals more Hp
points that other healers like Airin or Khan. When she is promoted and
her level is in the high tens, her offensive power proves not bad,
especially her power attack. Of course, it is not as good as that of
Sinbios or the other fighter-like people, but it serves well too. Equip
her with Fear's staff, you will get it when you are in the later part of
Scenario I. It enhances her fighting power greatly and she does power
attacks very often. I usually have some other useful staffs by Masquilin
or her side, I mean in their backpack, or item column, whatever you call
it. You can also equip her with the Death power staff, because she has a
lot of Mp and uses the death power quite effectively. She looks like a
fox or something. Very strange.
Weakness: Low defense. Doesn't have a spell that can be used to attack
enemies. Make up this by equipping her with the Death power staff. Low
offense too. Aura level 4 is gained at the late levels.
Strength: High magic defense. Best attacker of all the mages: Masquilin,
herself and Noon. Has the Aura spell and is amazingly useful at level 4
because it has the ability to heal all your allies' HP, regardless where
they are. Heals a great deal of HP points.
Masquilin
Her magic- wonderful. Her attack power- oh my god!!!!! I used the cheat
code that makes her gain levels very fast and what happened....? She was
around thirty-six levels, promoted, and how much could she drain of out
of a slightly above average opponent, thirty-six points of damage only.
Even her power attack can only minus off around fifty something damage
when Sinbios could minus off one hundred and twenty damage, also at
level thirty six. So what happens if she is around the tens, you know,
I'm not going to say it. However, she has that particular talent in
using magic. I always laughed my head off when I managed to use Bolt
level 3 on a group of about five to seven enemies. HAHAHAHAHAH! Anyway,
her defense is not quite good either. So equip her with defense rings of
braces to save her!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember.
Weakness: Low defense. Too low to be lower. To make up with this, get
her to over twenty levels. Her defense will be very good then. Poor
offense. However, at least it is better than Noon.
Strength: High magic defense. Strong talent in using magic. Powerful
knowledge of magic spells. Use her magic on a group of enemies and what
do you get? A sense of satisfaction. Say goodbye to five over enemies.
Heiward
This guy is ssoooooooooo good in shooting. Best archer ever! Equip him
with arrows. This way, he can shoot very far. His super attack is very
good too! I can say he is very good. His defense is okay. Meaning, he
can survive a few attacks. His only disadvantage is that he can't shoot
in front of an enemy. This will be awful if a place is very cramp.
Weakness: Can't shoot in front of enemy. Average defense only. Average
magic defense.
Strength: Enemies can't get him if Heiward is standing behind a barrel
or something with all the other players surrounding him, making him good
at killing enemies from a distance. Power attacks are frequent and
deadly too. Quite high offense.
Obelite
He uses the axe as if he is the Axe God. Wonderful man! He has a power
attack whereby he enlarges his axe and slashes it on top of the enemy.
Visual effect 100%. Small as he seems to be, he is quite good at
attacking both aerial and ground enemies. Nothing much to say except he
is strong in most areas.
Weakness: He too has an okay defense against magic. Nothing else,
actually, really.
Strength: This guy is high in offense and defense! He is great at
attacking both aerial and land enemies.
Airin
She is an okay healer. Grace makes a better one. Don't think she can't
fight. Her power attack is good. But she is just garbage before
promotion. Equip her with the fighting glove. She is much better off
with it if I'm not wrong. Her defense is very good and she has some
useful magic.
Weakness: Weak. Very weak fighter before promotion. However, she
improves gradually. Her Hell Blast magic is very lousy even at level 2!
Strength: HIGH defense. Sinbio's defense is only slightly better if they
were at the same level. GOOD magic defense.
Julian
A great fighter from Scenario III. He seems as good as Sinbios in all
areas except in defense. Why does all people have this disadvantage? Who
knows? Anyway, he also has the Spark elemental magic. Wonderful
character. Same characteristics as Sinbios. No complains here. Too bad
he will soon be thrown down the waterfall after defeating Spirited. I
really want to kill that idiot stupid purple head monster that did that.
Weakness: He is exactly like Sinbios, even better in some areas, so how
can he have weaknesses? All right, maybe his defense is slightly too
low, but it is not that low isn't it?
Strength: A lot! Look at the Sinbios section and you will know it
applies here too. However, he loses out slightly because he won't be
getting the Shining Sword, I mean, at least in Scenario I, so, you know
what I mean. However, he too has the Spark elemental magic.
Chivalry
Not bad. But she loses out to Dantares in terms of damage and defense.
Equip her with defense rings or braces. She needs them badly too.
However, she does do good damage in power attacks. She is prettier than
Masquilin and Airin after promotion. Again. That's what my sister says.
PUNCH! Ouch! *sniff* Alright, I promise not to talk rot again. (Again,
that's what my sister says...)
Weakness: What applies for Dantares applies here too. However, she has
more weaknesses. Her defense is only a bit better than Masquilin.
Strength: Long range of walking distance. GOOD! Good offense too.
Elder
The sister of Zero, she seems not bad in offense. You know her power
attacks? Very good too. She is not badly affected by opponents' power
attacks. Use her wisely. Fly over mountains and hills and take the
enemies on. You will not regret it. She doesn't do quite well in using
swords. Anyway, she is a birdman, isn't she?
Weakness: Nothing really, except that she has a poor magic defense.
Strength: Good offense and defense.
Khan
He is actually quite good in offense but doesn't seem so when he is in
his low ones, even when promoted. But when he is around high tens, his
ability improves. His fighting skills are average until you have him
around the ten over levels. His power attacks are the kind of action
pack moves, interesting, at least to me. He looks like he is a boxer or
something, just like Airin.
Weakness and Strength: Look at Airin's section. By the way, he fights
even better than Airin. Trust me!
Noon
A hidden character. You won't get him if you kill all or any of the
zombies outside Rilix's mansion. Just let Khan go over to the zombies
and use his dragon orb on them. In this part of the game, you need some
tactics. First thing, wherever Sinbios go, Khan will follow him. So,
just direct Sinbios to the zombies and.... hey presto! You got the
zombies. Also, you must understand that the distance Khan travels is
quite short. So, if you are not sure Khan will get them, move your main
character in slight steps. Back to Noon. Well, I like his Freeze spell,
`cause it is visually impressive. Have you ever realized that all the
characters will mumble some Japanese words before casting a spell? Well,
his sounds COOL! That's my impression. Anyway, his Freeze spell is
better than Masquilin's Blaze spell. He also has the Lightning spell.
What makes him a hidden character could be because he has a lot of good
spells. Like Masquilin, he can't fight well.
Weakness and Strength: Look at Masquilin's section. Some differences are
that Noon has a lousier offense and defense and his Freeze spell does
good damage.
Justice
His name tells it all. He is a chivalrous character with a sense of
justice. He can shoot very well, although not as good as Heiward, he is
still a necessity in your group. His power attacks are different from
Heiward's, and he can't move very far. He has quite a high defense like
Dantares. However, not being able to travel far makes him different from
the `Centaur people'.
Weakness: As mentioned, he can't travel far and has a better offense
only at level 4, promoted.
Strength: Like Heiward, he can weaken enemies from far.
Host
About the same as Obelite. Abilities slightly different. He seems better
in using maces than axes, unlike Obelite. He learns power attacks quite
fast but not as fast as Dantares, and his power attacks are powerful
too. Nothing else to say but you have to answer `yes' to both his
questions to get him. Tricky eh?
Weakness and Strength: Just look at Obelite's section and you will see
what I mean. However, this one seems to have a weaker defense.
Pen
This one is vvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyy tricky. You
have to get a bag of snacks first before using it on a motionless
chicken and make sure it follows you. No second chance here. Then, at
Vagabond town, you must buy an egg from two old couples by saying `no'
to the very first question and `yes' to the second question.
Then...bingo! You get the egg and use it on the chicken in the
headquarters and Pen will hatch from the egg and run away. It will join
in a town after two to three battles. However, his defense and offense
is terribly lousy. Not that I'm being sarcastic, but he is DAMN lousy.
However, if you don't bother to build him up, you can wait until the
28th battle, and equip him with Khan's orb to use it on enemies. Be sure
to surround him with your own teammates before fighting the enemy
because the enemy will most probably attack him, and you know, his
defense is lousy, so... you know!
Weakness: Oh my god! More than his strengths. Look at the above summary
to find out.
Strength: Is there any? Yeah, maybe if he is at around level 10.
Manipul
Weird looking guy. However, he fights well. He can only equip Arms and
Rocket arrows. His is a long story, you can look at Grandchester's FAQ
or Joe Negron's FAQ to know about the details. They are at
http://www.gamefaqs.com/ under the Saturn section and then Shining Force
section.
Weakness: Bad defense.
Strength: Good offense. Rhythms eh?
Frank
He is a wolfsman. You have to push him into your headquarters to get him
to join. Funny way to do it isn't it? He is good in offense. Equip him
with the Claw to get him work towards the fullest. He doesn't do well in
gloves. Remember this and victory will be ensured. He can walk in quite
a long range too, if you haven't yet noticed. One thing to note anyway.
Have you ever realize he always *woo* before punching the hack of the
enemy. What I mean by *woo* is he always screams like hell. Heh heh!
Weakness: Nothing, except bad magic defense.
Strength: Beautiful power attacks, high offense too!
Hagane
Ah! A great fighter long before your time, my time, everybody's time.
Just a joke, really, `cause I thought you all were getting too serious.
Anyway, let's get down to business. Hagane has three magic spells, the
Sleep spell, the Boost spell, and the Soul Steal spell, or maybe Desoul
spell if you like. How does the Soul Steal spell works? You may ask.
Well, if the enemy manages to be caught by Hagane's Soul Steal spell,
then, off the enemy goes to hell. However, if the procedure is not
successful, unlike Shining the Holy Ark, the enemy will still be minus
off about eighteen points of damage (depending on your level and
opponent). This is all on his magic. For his fighting skills, I have
nothing to say but that his power attacks are `ninjatic'. No wonder he
is a ninja. He works well best when equipped with the katana, or
samurai. That's all I have to say.
Weakness: Quite bad defense.
Strength: Wonderful attacks, dodges frequently and beautifully by
disappearing into thin air.
Murasame
Murasame too has three spells. They are the Brutal Fire spell, the Slow
spell, and the Shield spell. Like Hanzou, his spells are quite useful.
However, to make him different from Hagane, equip him with ninja darts
or shurikens, or else, both of them will be having the same power
attacks and there will be a lack of variety.
Weakness and Strength: Look at Hagane's section. He loses out a bit in
magic spells.
Vending
The last person to join you, and the only member joining you that have
already mastered power attacks. Just one suggestion, equip him with
Purple's Lightning Sword. Why do I call it Lightning Sword, you must be
pondering. Because if Sinbios or Vending equip it and master a power
attack, the particular one will be involving in lightning. Meaning,
either Sinbios or Vending will make a slash, followed by some trace of
lightning. That is the only sword that can cast such ability. I hope I
am correct about this. Try it, to confirm my doubts.
Weakness: No doubt an all-rounder.
Strength: Good defense and offense. No wonder this guy could have the
chance to lead the other party into battle at the last battles. You will
find out.
B. -Power attacks-
Power attacks are attacks energized with extreme power to maximize the
damage an attack does. There are two kinds of power attack. One is
whereby the character gathers energy from within him to project a force
on the enemy. The other type is the variety version, whereby the
character goes through an animation and damages the enemy. As you learn
power attacks, you will be learning more and more. The system will use
the most recent power attack learned, occasionally switching back to the
previous few. You can maximize the times your character uses the power
attacks by buying them an item that can increase this possibility. You
can know by reading the words when you highlight the item under the
items' section. Such items could be those you find in chests, or those
crafted out of mithril. The next section will be explaining about
mithril ingots and mithril ore.
C. -Mithril Ingots And Mithril Ore-
Mithril ingots and mithril ore are two different things. Mithril ingot
is the bigger version of mithril that can be used to craft powerful and
magical weapons while mithril ore is the smaller version used to craft
rings or chains. Both are useful in their own ways. So, don't ever throw
them away. Anyway, I found out that after accidentally throwing a
mithril ingot away, I found it under the special items' list of the herb
seller in a town. Maybe it will automatically be directed to the special
item list. I'm not sure. I'm saying this because I don't want you to
lose something as useful as this and come emailing me mails full with
vulgarism! One more thing to note. When you use a mithril ingot and
craft something out of it, the blacksmith will offer a price. The higher
the price, the better the item crafted out will be. 100% guarantee. So
if you want to make an item for a particular character and it requires a
price of only $8000, don't go for it. Switch to another character.
D. -Weapons Acknowledgement-
There are many different kinds of weapons. You will know if there is a
new character joining if you find an extra item that cannot be used on
the items' list under the weapon seller. You can choose from daggers to
swords, arrows to rocket arrows, spears to lances and so on. Different
characters can equip different weapons. Items can improve on your
counter attack ability, power attack rate, agility, and so on. The most
amazing thing about items is that some can command magical spells, or
used in battle to boost your characters' abilities. Like the Shining
Sword, the Death staff, the Dragon staff, the Phoenix staff and so on.
So, choose your weapons wisely.

occasionally increasing the spell level.
*The Confusion Staff activates the mages' power attacks.
*The more the number of power attacks learnt, the more powerful the
attack the attacks a character makes, the same goes to the spells of the

F. -Walkthrough-
-Chapter 1-
Saraband City
At first, the music will be played and there will be a scene showing Masquilin
trying to take a look and listen to what is happening in a building. The first
attempt was one futile one. Then, she will climb a box and the window was
closed to prevent her from eavesdropping. Then, she will meet Grace at the
front of the building and they will both agree on entering the building.
Inside the building, there will be a long scene. Followed by Dantares joining
the force. While leaving, you will meet both Grace and Masquilin.
They will give you a bouquet of flowers before joining you. In the first
building, you will find the elixir in the chest. Search around the other
houses, if you are lucky, you may find the potion and mithril, which I did not
manage to find. One thing to add. Most cabinets contain money. Items will most
probably be found in barrels, boxes, and chests, with some exceptions
sometimes. After all that, you must go to the very right side of the town
where the path is aligned with soldiers. Just keep walking until you are
stopped. There will be some scenes and finally, an explosion. Exit from the
place and bingo! Your very first battle starts. However, there is one reminder
for you. You might want to buy antidote herbs and medical herbs to prepare for
your second battle. The second battle is a tough one, considering your low
levels. After your first battle, you will not be able to buy any herbs any
more, so keep in mind what you want to do. One advice for your first battle,
you must keep healing your first character! The enemies will be attacking your
main character for most of the time. After you first battle, head towards the
very first building. You will have a Mentor to assist you in your missions.
Save in the church before heading towards the bridge.
There is a scene of two soldiers being killed. During the battle, remember to
talk to both Heiward and the blue archer. If not just keep them alive and
Heiward will join you after the battle. Bear in mind that it is not worth
healing the blue archer instead of talking to him unless you want extra
assistance because he will leave you after the battle. If you look carefully
towards the left of the bridge, there is a long wooden plank and a barrel
blocking the end of the path. Break it to access the other side of the dock
after the second battle.
You may want to save after the tedious battle so do it now. I think the item
shop is accessible again now. So buy what you want and leave the town.
Outside Saraband City
This battle is a tough one. You must have all your characters at at least
level 3 to fight the battle smoothly. Thus, it is best advised to use the
Return spell until you get the levels. After the battle, there will again be
some more scenes. This is when you first meet Spirited and Arrogance. The
other guys must be from Scenario II. You will also meet the knight of your
future 8th battle. So take a good look at him now to discover how ugly he is.
Balsamo Town
Actually, you need not go upstairs to the inn yet. Perhaps, you may want to
buy some items and save first. Then, proceed to the top floor of the inn to
see some scenes (You will meet Basanda, Fear and some other guys from the
other Scenarios). Go out of the inn before going in again. Then, go upstairs
again to the room where you met Basanda and the others and see some scenes. At
the end of the hallway there is a secret tunnel that will lead you to a hidden
room where Bernard is being tied up. Click yes to untie him and he will be
able to access in another scenario.
You will find Obelite on top of a house instead of a former village man. He
will join you. Then, go inside a house, which is the only house with a stretch
of fence surrounding it, and get a map and a medical herb. You will
automatically talk with a man who steps aside after the conversation. The door
he was blocking formerly will be free of his meddling and you can past through
there. Just search the well to climb into it before popping out of another
well and find yourself surrounded by enemies.
By taking Sinbios to the very front of the battlefield, you will finish the
battle. Another alternative is to defeat all the enemies. Don't miss the
defense brace in the chest.
Ah! This is the time when your map comes in handy. This will be the first tomb
you enter. It is best to send Dantares and Obelite inside to block the exits
and get what the thief gets from the locked chests. Note that one of the
chests contains the Healing Bangle, an item that may be useful even at your
last battle. So, be sure not to miss it.
-Chapter 2-
Railroad town
The first thing I always do is to buy some advanced items before saving. For
this stage, go and get the map first. It is at one of the houses above the
headquarters. You will have to go up the steps first to get up there. Just
remember it is not in any of the houses of ground level. Anyway, do you all
know where is the headquarters and what it is. It is the place where all the
members of your force gather around tables and chitchat. You will know if it
is the headquarters if there is a marching music and your members are
separated from you, so is your Mentor. After buying the necessities and saving
up, go into the train station. You can search for some items before you leave.
When you leave, you will see a troop of armies marching by with a commander
commanding them. Immediately after this, go back to the headquarters. The
members of your force with have a short conversation before you can leave the
HQ. Then, remember the path where a pair of old couples was blocking? They
would be stepping aside and you can proceed to the warehouse. Before doing
this, save to ensure that you will not have to go through searching the map
and all this because the battle in the warehouse may ensure victory but not
success in getting a new teammate who is a tough fighter in the high tens
levels, promoted. The person is Airin. If you want to know about her
particulars read the characters' introduction. When you get into the battle,
go through the hole in the box to and exit through another two holes to appear
next to Airin. I strongly advise you to take the right hole. After this, just
leave the town for the next battle. Save first, because you might fail in the
attempt to save the five refugees. The advantage of saving the five refugees
is that your characters' abilities will increase. You will also be entering a
tomb immediately after leaving town. Anyway, surprise! Julian joins the force
here.
To save all five refugees, you must use Dantares to get to the switch between
the tracks by his third turn. Otherwise, the five refugees will die. After the
battle, Chivalry joins the force.
Inside the Train
You will get a Bag of Snacks at the place where the saving point is in a
barrel. You must use it on a stationary chicken to make it follow you and it
will come in handy in hatching Pen. After you are done, talk to Grace and walk
away. A battle will begin. Elder will join the force after the battle.
After this battle, you will face another tough one with Siraf. This guy is
terrible. He is amazingly strong and keeps using power attacks. Watch out for
him. After this battle, it will mean the end of chapter 2.
-Chapter 3-
Ghost Town
Find a brave apple in a box in a wooden hut. It can be used to raise the level
of one of your teammates.
You won't be able to buy anything right now so just save. By the way, you have
to go to the graveyard to find Julian. When you try to leave, you will be
stopped by Khan and questioned. Then, your Mentor and other teammates will
come in. A battle will begin. Remember, let Khan handle the zombies if you
want to get Noon.
Go inside the haunted mansion after this. When you face Rilix, use Khan's orb
on her or she will be invincible. So don't let Khan die. Anyway, outside one
of the rooms, you will see many barrels blocking the door. Just break them to
access to the room or else the barrels will remain there. One tip to fight
Rilix-don't stand to close together because of her Bolt level 1.
After the battle, go to a room filled with machines and Manipul's steamsuit.
Flip the switch on and Manipul will come out to show you his steamsuit. Just
click `yes' or else he will not join you later.
As you exit the mansion, you will see Noon. Talk to him to get him to join.
Immediately head towards the old mill to flip on the switch and access a
treasure chest. In the town, the shops are opened now, and you can access a
new shop-the trinket shop. It sells rings and braces at the moment to enhance
your fighting power and other abilities.
Leave the town for the next battle. Reminder: Save.
You will fight Franz as your boss. Spirited's white knights will assist you.
Just don't touch her white knights.
Vagabond City
Manipul is back again and this time, he is waiting for you in this town. Talk
to him to make his suit go berserk and he will run away. Get the map in this
town! It is in the chest, the one right at the open.
You know how to get the egg and all this, just read the Pen's section. Talk to
Justice. He will join you before you leave town.
After leaving town, you come face to face with Spirited. She won't die anyway
`cause Basanda will save her. This is when Julian parts too! Boohoo! Don't
miss the tomb too! It is not quite evident.
After a sad parting, you meet a nosy asshole who blocks your way to the
capital. Just kick his butt and get him to scram. Don't miss the chest at a
protruding hill. You must use Elder to get it.
-Chapter 4-
In the Capital
In the capital castle, you will see Basanda's son for the first time. Look
around... search for items...just do anything you like but don't miss Host! He
is a male dwarf warrior that fights just as well as Obelite. Answer `yes'
twice to make him join. Remember, it's `yes' TWICE!
Get what you need before exiting the town. You will have a battle outside the
capital. This is a place for building levels. Make sure you have all your
characters promoted by here.
After the battle, the capital gate will be closed, causing suspicions in your
force's heart. You will arrive at a town that is half-accessible. The other
half may be accessible in another scenario so don't care about it. Find Pen in
this town. He will be at one corner.
If you want to use him, you better take him along or else, the later part of
the game will prove too dangerous for Pen.
There's a tomb here, so take care not to miss it. If you are lucky, you may
find the Heat Axe, so try your luck then!
After the fight, good news for you -Manipul joins the force. Remember that
gnome? Yeah! That's him!
You must direct your player to the Dragon cave after then. If you wish, you
can save in town first too! This place is a better place to build up your
levels and get plenty of Goddess tears! So kill the King Dragon and use the
Return spell. You will not regret it. Don't miss the magic dagger anyway, it
can either be sold or use, up to you.
Outside the Dragon Cave, there is another battle. *Yawn*. This one's easy.
Remember Chandler, the guy you meet right back in the Capital? Well, that's
him. He is your boss! After the match, although Sinbios let Chandler go he
will still be killed by Fear. Anyway, Chandler's sword is very powerful, so
use it.
Rebel Town
Get Frank to join you by force! Just push him into your headquarters. He will
join you, unwillingly?! Anyway, read the sign by the geyser just to see Pen
appear and fly into the air and underneath a house. Strange eh? Just some
animations, nothing to be puzzled about. Anyway, you won't be able to access
many houses now, even the weapon shops and other shops are not accessible. Too
bad. Take note of the houses that are not accessible earlier on to help you
search for some items as some are in the previously locked houses. To get to
another side, talk to the priest from behind the altar. He will not give you
some tips unless you speak to him from behind. After talking to him, one of
the secret doors with a picture of a leaf along the fence will be opened. You
will know if it is open when you press C and it opens. Simple, isn't it? At
this point, your player may not be powerful enough to withstand the Windigo
spell. So, just hit Fear and he will drop the key. Zero will come and take the
key away after the battle. He will take the key to Scenario II, so no matter
what, hit Fear to get the key! Or else, too bad, you won't have any key in
Scenario II. Anyway, Zero is Elder's brother, from what I know.
-Chapter 5-
Rebel Fort
Poor Sinbios, he cried because the general (or whatever) died. Sob. *Sniff*,
alright, let's get back to business. Don't miss the Shining Sword in this
area. It is in a chest! If you miss it, just mourn with the town folks.
Rebel Town Mourning
Now, you are allowed to enter all the houses. There is a blacksmith in this
town. If you miss him, then too bad. However, just to give you a clue, he is
located between two houses around the fences that surround the town. The door
is very hard to locate, and you won't know where he is unless you are
observant. Press the L and R buttons to help look around you.
Leave the town to the next battle. You will find a Power Glove in the chest.
Let Airin equip it.
Observatory Town
Search... save... do whatever you want in this town before you proceed to the
next system. To stress it enough, find a map in this town to open the next
tomb. The next tomb has some very good items. Very good ones you know! There
is the Water Cane that gives you the Windigo spell and the Power Lance that
raises the abilities of your allies. If you are the `check-any-where' type of
a person, you probably would not miss Hagane among the pillars in the tomb.
You can search them after the battle too if you like or during the battle to
get the fullest assistance.
Observatory
You must talk to your new mentor before he conducts a lesson with you and you
will be able to exit the observatory building to get into the next battle. You
must direct Sinbios until he is almost directly facing your mentor before you
can make him talk with you. I know it won't be quite of a problem although
your mentor follows you.
Remember the half bridge area where Beakheads appears? Well, just go there to
the next battle. You will not access the next battle by exiting the town.
Anyway, I think you can't exit the town. I advise you to save before you
proceed to the next battle.
Beware... the Golem can attack enemies in the area of his attack. The good
thing about him is that he attacks both the light and the dark ones. Watch out
as he can throw pillars! Don't miss the chest up there guarded by Beakheads.
At the starting point, you may have some amazing discovery. You can find a
mithril along the wall towards the left.
Murasame the ninja will join you in the later part of the game. You return to
Vagabond city after the battle.
The Return to Vagabond City
Congratulations! You will find the Phoenix staff in a barrel. Sorry I forgot
the location.
Nothing much to say except that there are new items and you can save here.
The next battle can be said to be quite tough because the Queen Worm keeps
reproducing youngs.
-Chapter 6-
Tokeitown Fortified City
Just to tell you the names of some goodies that can be found here, Aura staff,
Power Axe, Running Ring, and most importantly, the last map in the chest
between two houses. To check the locations, check out Joe Negron's FAQ. To get
inside the castle, answer `yes' and `no' at the gate, and `yes' to proceed to
the next battle. Prepare yourself for an ambush. The last blacksmith in
history is in this town too. You can access the weapon shop only after you get
Vending. You will know what I am talking about as you read on. The weapons
shop is useful because you can get special items here, by using a particular
method. Check Granchester's FAQ out if you want to know the spoiler.
You get your last Brave apple here among the barrels. Hit all the barrels
outside a room to access it after the battle. You get the Lightning Sword
after killing Purple.
Tokeitown Castle
Exit through another door at the place you fought Purple to get to the next
battle.
This time around, exclaim before the awesome son of Basanda, Bluff. Remember
Bluff, the baby face guy you met in the capital? Yeah. You are fighting him
now. After the fight, a small part of a statue will be on the floor. Pick it
up and use it on the large statue in the capital area.
You come across the last tomb. This tomb holds the Death staff so be sure to
get it into your hands. Basanda can be tough. After you kill Spirited, you get
the Purple ring, that increases the rate of counter attacking. Do not kill
her, by the way, I don't know why, but just use Khan's orb on her.
After the fight, go up the stairs and just go on until you meet two soldiers.
Then, turn right and try to exit through an exit. You will meet Vending for
the first time, or rather, second if you meet him in the Tokeitown castle
prison. Go back to Tokeitown castle now. Anyway, the weapon shop is accessible
now. Talk to the queen and Vending will join you. I suggest you equip him with
Purple's Lightning Sword.
The Last Battle of Life and Death
Go to the inn or bar and speak to either the mage, cleric, berserker or
centaur knight and recruit them for a price. You can only recruit one of them,
if you get all the characters that you will find. Then, proceed back to the
temple where you fought Basanda. You can enter an old tomb to fight a battle
that consists of four parts if you want to get the Dragon staff. The Dragon
mage is tough because he has the maximum amount of HP points.
This tomb can be accessed for as many times as you want until you are
satisfied with the levels of your players. Go up the stairs and Vending will
go off to lead his own troop. Go to the place where you met two soldiers and
exit through the hole. You will come to the battle which is separated into two
parts.
One part is lead by Vending while the other by Sinbios. Sinbios will be
fighting the giant sea monster while Vending will be fighting the Big Blue Axe
Knight. The battle is slightly dependant on Vending's part because he will
release the water stored in the dam to wash away the giant monster of Sinbio's
side.
After that is your last battle against Arrogrance. He is quite tough with two
guards helping him from the back so fight him by using magic from a distance.
After the battle, you will see an ending... as I do not want to spoil your
game, the ending will not be revealed.
We come to the end of Scenario I. As I have not bought the Scenario II CD yet,
I may not be starting an FAQ.
