Shining force 3 scenario 3, BLITZ FAQ ver 0.21

By Yohu ([email protected])

First words:

This is the second release of this FAQ for the Shining Force 3 Part III
game. Yet this is not a '1.0' version since I want to put the same building
design to or previous FAQs. (54485)
Now the game had been released for more than one entire month nd many people
managed to get it as an import game... Many also still are stuck somewhee in
game (I hear someone shouting 'Battle 20' who said that ???)
My other Faqs had been delayed because we eed to coordinate ourselves my
friend and I and that I do not have much spare time to share, and there
after, it will be he who will not be able to (another trip to Japan, Hmm)

Now this Faq is more complete than my EARLY faq, who was rather obscure (it
was not because I was lazy, stupid or not very good with the game, but it
was becuase after 3 weeks of release I could not allow myself to be too
precise not to spoil fun...)
Later faq, AKA Joe Negron's one, is more precise than mine, and I do not
think it is a bad think as both FAQs fill different need and goal.
But now this present FAQs is meant to cover more precisely lot of problem.
I still left some points in the dark, mainly because memories fail me, or
that i also believe One should not be Helped so much (rackle your brains a
little more, boys)

Instead of what happened to previous FAQ, I wrote this one all alone, as my
friend (Jean-Baptiste Soufron) SHOULD be busy making the FAQ for part 2 now
(Yes, you should...I agree to help debugging while you are in japan, but
please do the core job before)

What did change between last FAQ's version and this one ?

Added Monster Bestiary
Added a 'deeper' Tomb Section
Updated informations in Character Section
New Tip and Hint section (Known as SPOILER section)

Index / Contents:

1- Items, Battles and Towns
2- Tomb Special section
3- Character List
4- Bestiary (Monsters Stats)
5- Tips and Hints (SPOILER section)
6- Appendix and last words (Synchronicity points Section)
7- Credits and other stuff (for exemple, Things to come)
8- Character survey (in work)

NOW, SERIOUS THINGS BEGINS

1 - Items, Battles and Towns:

Now in the section, all towns and battles are described (Tombs included, but
read the new Tomb section anyway...) as well as how mny items there is in
each, and when possible, or when needed, the global location of the item
listed... Anyway, items in CHESTS are listed but there si no location as
they are obvious. Other items listed were previously known among 'Hidden'
items (and don't tell me they are right under your nose, there had been VERY
HARD items to find)
For Battles with new game concepts, no information is needed, but deeper
strategic hints and 'rules' of each battle are listed in the SPOILER
Section.

Note: personnaly speaking, I think the 'rule' in Gamefaqs server about 'no
tabs' a nessecity yet a raher annoying thing when you want to pu out a good
'easy to read' layout... As far as I am concerned, what i wuld suggest would
be that gamefaqs could also accept HTML written FAQS (useful for tables)

Previous notes:

All battles are listed using the previous format: (space removed here)

Battle Number: (item number)
Monsters:
Items: (with location)

For monsters, the 'ready to use' information in the battle section are:

Number/type of monster (HP/MP) boss flag, item dropped

For reinforcement, the reinforcement points are listed as shown below:

Number of monster within the same point, monster name (HP/MP)

if several reinforcement points with the same monster (and same capacity)
are available in the battle, it will be shown as:
Capacity of one spot Monster blablabla / x? spots (? is the number)

If above all this exception still arise, it will be clearly noted down.

Now I began with the lastest parts of the game. If you do not want to spoil
your fun, I advise you to jump over this section !

I left aside the stuff about the optionnal battle ON PURPOSE...
This is, as for Hero test in part 1, and its brother in part 2, a single
Bonus battle to allow you train more your characters if they are not strong

Each monster is listed using the following method:

'monster sample format'

Name
HP/MP, Att; Def, Agi, Luck, Move, Gold
Battle: first battle where it appears.
Notes/special: Spells, and special abilities or useful things...
For now, I could not record down all special effects (such as slow,
paralysis, poison and so on) that special attacks of the monsters produce.
There are only spells and some other informations yet...

Agility is also known as Speed, in opposition to Move...
In the sample format, i still use abreviations for you not to head at the

5 - Hints and Tips / Spoilers entry

SPOILER section

!!! WARNING !!! WARNING !!! WARNING !!!

This section, linkd to item/battle section, contain SPOILERS. This mean that
when you are stuck at a particular problem, or that you do not understand
well the scenarion, this section and its entries contain often CLEAR HINTS
if not complete expkicit solution to the problem you may have on each
specific point it was linked to... If you read this, however, you must know
that in most cases, this will solve the problem, or hint it in such a way
you will have no effort required... So if you think you would regret
spoiling your fun on a particular problem, stay stuck a bit and think deeply
instead of looking here. Once you lok here, don't complain it ruined your
fun...

#1: To avoid Walkyrie attacks, take cover in the deeper side of the holes in
the ground... Slide wont protect, but the bottom of each hole will do...

#2: You cannot destroy the staff using regular method. To make the Walkyrie
stop attacking (overcharge), cast Shining Spell on the staff (but then you
cannot use Gracia as healer)

#3: Thousand is the boss... However you can get him in your team by two
different ways: You can finish him with Cyclops (you TAME it, but then he
will be CPU controlled), or you can TALK to him and the battle ends
immedialty, Thousand joining you at once (Player controlled)

#4: Defender takes shelter at the top of His Fort... Kick some ass and show
him you are ready to fight ! In order to break open the Fort Gate, you must
use Cannons... It is not targetable in any other way. To use cannon, simply
stand on the square behind the cannon and choose the 'Fire' icon.

#5: The Golems alternatively move to face each of both bridge they
respectively guard... They strike and their attack hit ANYONE (ennemy or
characters) within area effect... You can easily adjust your timing to
safely cross bridges and fight other monsters.

#6: Impossible mission, tada tadada da ! If at the end of the movement of
ANY of your characters

#7: See also Synchronicity point 1. If you spared the life of Stella on
the docks of Anafect (scenario 2), then whe will be here and the Monk will
use her/threaten her to force Profound to fight. You have to manage to pass
aside Profound withot killing/hurting him, speak to him, and JUST kill the
second boss, the monk, and so he will joins you.

#8: For those who are caught by surprise, and mislead by US version,
Bribable (exact name, Buraibaburu... And this gives Bribable, a good name
for a Republic traitor who is a monster related to Bulzome... If not a
vandal... I do not remember if the name Kudan of the minotaur who is his
true shape was written in Blue -boy- or Grey - vandal)
He was known (falsely) under the name of Brutus (you notice, it suddenly
drop some points of the story...). He is the sedond head of Republic
Assembly and the magistrate of one of the provinces of REpublic of Aspinia
(If I am right, it is Barrand, those who attacked Storich in Part 1)
You are in the capital of his province, and the big house his its own.
You will meet him at the atzec pyramid when he is discussing with Yasha.

#9: Well, first time I played, I managed to get the thief opening this chest
but the item may had been sold or LOST among all my other items in HQ and I
definitly DONT HAVE TIME to compare all Kanjis in my notes and my
inventory... If someone got the item meanwhile I am stil at work, please
mail it to me...

#10: In three areas of the battlefield, some of the ground will collapse
behind the feet of a character who would have move a bit too much further.

#11: Items are VERY hard to find, as you must search the EXACT spot in the
EXACT side of the rocks... If popular demand requires it, I will make a
small ascii map or at least a small explanation.

#12: To get there, you must go in the room of the inn and puch the cupboard
to free the secret passage that will allow you to go outside and enter the
cave by the other stairway.

#13: Miscredited as Evil lance in other faqs (sorry, Joe), i know my name is
no better (I will try to find out the real one) BUT it dooes not deserve the
'evil' term as it is not cursed at all !

#14: Again, sorry, Joe Negro, but Jubei is DEFINITLY NOT a ninja... Compare
both the stands, gestures and looks and powers attacks (using the same
weapons, stars and katana) of both Murasame and Hagane with this new
character... He does not do the same attacks with katana (with stars they
seem to be the same) and DOES HAVE a summon spell (Evil Spirit).
If it is true that Hagane and Murasame are Ninjas (even if Murasame looks
somehow like the Samurai type a little), Jubei is a Samurain as in Japanese
lore, the name Jubei is ALWAYS related to a Samurai (see SNK samurai
shodown, Ninja Scroll anime video, and also REAL legends)
Do not take offense, please, and see the character section...
And if I sounds a bit hars, I will say for my defense that HE is my favorit
character in this third part (don't ask me why, it is just feelings...)

#15: Brake the barrel at the other end of the battlefield, or you will not
be granted access to 3 chests in the village secret room...

#16: This is a novelty in scnenario 3... I myself admit I did mistake the
name and called it Auria or something like that... However, it is IN NO WAY
some sort of mithril (Mithril katakana writing is EASY to recon). It is
blue, right...
Now lets gather what we say about this metal: It is blue, it can make
weapons ONLY usable by 3rd class characters (Innovator-like Promotion done
by Gracia and his staff), Specials power attaks granted by those weapons
are VERY OFTEN related to FIRE, it reminds of Inferno spell, and...
And the exact name is OriHarukon... Japanese pronounciation for a well known
metal among RPG/heroic fantasy players: it is ORICHALCUM...
It seems to be made of the same material as the Holy Ark (see shining the
holy ark) and thats why only third class innovator-like characters can use
this... I will refer later in the faq to this items using ORICHALCUM.
Anyway, this is SUPPOSITION, but this sounds more credible to me...
I had bo evidence within the texts of the game but that is strongly hinted
anyway...

#17: There is two ways to win this battle...be clever anyway...
There is the Macho way (take it like a man, boy) and the CLEVER way (lets
design some sort of strategic, my friend)

#18: Ah, so many peopel complaining they were all stuck here... It is still
a mistery for me as I cannot figure out the difficulty in this one (at least
when you watch what happen and not blindly go straight to failure again and
again withou paying attention and learning)...
The robots go straight to their full movement stat... If they are blocked
(by a wall or by a character) in mid-course, they stop at the last case they
can move in, and change direction, spinning 90° clockwise to face another
directino they will walk by the next turn... The goal is to brign all of
them in the pentacle where Gracia stands, in a cross sshaped pattern, on
each squares directly next to Gracia (It means, squares of valid range for
attacking with melee weapon, not diagonal as with range 2 weapons)
Once all four are in, it is finished... It took me 2 tries to understand the
thing, and I still consider myself someone DUMB and narrow minded, and by
the 3rd try, it took me 6 turns or so to ge the robots going in right place,
without anyone getting hurt ! RACKLE YOUR BRAIN a bit more, please, before
complaining... Things goind like that, and I will need not to write faqs
anymore as I will have to move to your home and do the work for you...

#19: To get Marky to join you and end immediatly the battle, have Gracia or
Julian TALK to her with the special icon.

#20: You can figth the hard way trying to protect the lives of Symbios's friends.
After all, Julian went on adventure with them. But you can kill them if you
like, to ease the battle too. What will change is that they will show '1
defeat' in the character profile and stats. BUT their friendship towards each
others DO NOT DECREASE. I think the explanation is because they are torn
between the blackmail of Yasha that threaten the life of Symbios and the
fact Julian is an old friend and his cause is right.

#21: To get Turk, it is a bit difficult. First, buy MEAT at item shop (15 GP)
Then you must put the MEAT in Julian's inventory or it won't work...
Talk to Turk then, and he will follow you in order to you help him finding his OGRE...
Go to the well and inspect the well: Turk's OGRE is here, Turk joins the team.

#22: For those who did not catch the point, the name of the rainblood guards
are names of chess units. We have Rook, Pawn, Knight, Bishop, Queen, King...
But this did not mean you cannot put them CHECKMATE !

#23: For those who want to know some bits of the story: do you notice all those
masked priests with their high cap and their strange uniform... They all
have differents colors... One of them made Gracia passing some sort of TEST
(battle 20) to unravel Gracia's INNOVATOR powers (noticed the new spell) and
strengthen the power of Elbesem Staff, allowing all of your characters
getting a new 3rd Promotion...
Now for those who know Shining The Holy Ark... I am sure you all recognized
some music themes from SHA, and also our old Galm... You also remember that
It happened 10 years ago, and that one spirit remained in the world while
the two others had left with the ark..
Well, look at gracia, he is small, looks like, let say, hmmm a 10 years old
boy... And for the priests, they all remind me of the one who helped Arthur,
Rodi and Melody to gain their Innovator power in the tower of illusion.
This last priest of SHA had the same kind of costume than those priests.
All of this is rumor, and i hope to investiguate it further and let all of
you know in further versosn of the FAQ, but you may agree with me that
Julian chasing Galm to avenge his father SEEMS NOT to be the only TIE in
plot between SHA and Shining Force 3... Take it as you want.

6- Appendix / Last words... (Synchronicity version)

A- Synchronicity:

As you may saw, some actions you make in some scenarios can affect other
parts of further scenarios. Though it is tempting to try to do 'all good'
and try tp set each Synchronicity points (known as FLAGS) in 'ON state',
some are interlinked in such way you cannot always get all the benefits.
Some flags are important and can drasticly change the future of your other
adventures with another leader, some just had bonus things.
Synchronicity is also the way some characters are ACTIVE parts of more than
one scenario and they are met many times... It also measure the way the
three scenarii happens in time and what happen in one of them while others
are doing some other thing in other part AT THE SAME TIME...

It is a complete matter, and while knowign what flags of PART 1 affect
things in PART 2, when finnally we come in PART 3, it adds one more level of
complexity. Some things you did in PART 1 but that did not affect PART 2 can
affect PART 3... Some Things you did in PART 1 that affected PART 2 do also
affect PART 3... There are many combinations, and as you need a COMPLETE game
each time, you may now have just an idea of the work needed to be accurate
on this topic (that means that I wuld gladly accept help as I cannot spend
my time playin all three parts in a row several times).

One of the main exempel of Synchronicity you can witness in PART 3 is the
part about Profound and Equal... If you killed Stella on the docks of
Anafect with Medion Team in Scen2 Chapt2, then she will not be here to be a
tool for Bulzome Monk to force Profound fight for him... Then he will charge
you... If you did not kill Stella, you do not get Equal at start (I think
the story of Stella is ALSO related to Equal), adn you have a chance to save
Profound when the Monk will threaten Stella to force him to fight, but then
the Bulzome Cult Will find another tool and THEN you will have to fight
Equal but without any hope of joining him...

B- Game concepts:

New game concepts had been designed by Camelot team to fits within this new
shining game without pain for olf fans: Friendship and weapon skills.

They are discussed in detail in another FAQ of mine bound to be released by
the end of month...

If there are some other things needed, it could be put in the appendix in
the future... this may be whatever is related to SF3 but not always related
to gameplay...

Note about Harassement in shops: it stil works and bring items new in
shop... Those listed in special deals in this faqs are available WITHOUT
harrassement in the given shop of each towns...
I in fact try to see and discover some regularity and logic or in fact some
solid rules aside from pure random in this feature of SF games...
I would appreciate any report or informations from you...

7 - Credits and greetings / Things to come :

Things to come:

In further versiosn of the FAQ, I plan to put in the following things:
( no particular order)

- Complete list of items and weapons (casual ones)
- List of Mithril Weapons
- List of Mithril Items
- List of Special Items you can find
- Things about raw materials (Auria, new one after Mithril)
- Spell progression of Characters
- Friendship system (as in my Part1 FAQ)
- Weapon Skill system (as in my Part1 FAQ)
- Synchronicity between PART1/PART2 and PART3
- Cast fo secondary characters
- Details about the storyline

- List of Power Attacks (even unique item's ones)
- Comment, review of the game itself
- Whatever things people will think useful...

This fact is Co-designed by ME (Yohu) and Jean-Baptiste Soufron...
The work untill now on SF3 is only from me... And the work on PART 1 is
mostly from me with help of JB... The future of this PPRT 3 FAQ shuld be
shared by both of us... But this is still not for today :-)

I wuld like to Thanx Camelot for the Saturn Shining games (including Holy
Ark) and their great work...

I wuld also like to thanx the following people, mainly from SF3 message
board: (www.rightstep.org/sf3/)

* Florent Azam:
(for his kind exchange of ideas and mails, and future work on secondary
characters)
* Joe Negron:
(for him doing early YET goot and accurate FAQs, and encouraging feedbacks)
* Mano:
(for enduring my 'Shining' madness without complaining, and patiently wait
for me when I used my time to 'play' and debugging)
* People who mailed me for help or feedback (mostly for help, sadly)

We can be reached by email:

Jean-Baptiste Soufron : [email protected]
Yohu : [email protected]

8 - Characters survey:

This is an experimental try to find out what people things and had more
personnal implication  in the work... (54485)
As you may have notice, with so many characters within all three parts, and
such charismatic and good-designed cool-looking opponents, there is in fact
an opportunity to make some survey...
To show you what is an example of what it will be and on how you can
contribute to be, here is the survey, only beginning with MY votes (I am yet
the first and only one that replied to the survey :-)
Also new topics / points of survey can appear and change... Nothing is
definitive...

* Most powerful characters:
(ok, it is subjective and depends on how far you
reach its potential... see explanation)

All leaders are not taken in account...

1st Brigit (good spells, good resistance)
2nd Khan (High fighting powers, good spells)
3rd Jubei (Good power attacks, well rounded)

* Best Design/Behavior (means voice and moves too)

1st Asuki
2nd Noon
3rd Spirited

* Most handsome MENS (Face AND 3d sprite) Class CAN matter

1st Profound
2nd Jade
3rd Dantares

* Most cute GIRLS (Face AND 3d Sprite) Class CAN matter

1st Hedoba
2nd Isabella
3rd Marky

If other people find out other category to make some contests between
characters, let me know to...
For the survey, mail me privately at [email protected] with "SF3 SURVEY" as
subject, and in the body, each topic with your favorit two characters in
each topic... I will compute the results... oh an tell me what reason made
you put each two in your choice (brief, no long explanation, even one word
can be enough)

THAT'S ALL FOLKS

(See you soon in next version)
