Scorcher is one of the harder racing games released. Most people say it's
frustrating because of it's devilish track designs and also because of the
fact that you can fall to your death easily. Add in CPU racers that act as
moving roadblocks and you have a pretty damn hard racing game. The fact that
sometimes the game places you far away your last point of death and slowdown
are the only gripes I have with this game, otherwise, it's the best futuristic
racing game I've played. This guide was designed to point out simple tactics
for the really hard parts in each course. Navigating skills are also needed to
get through these courses, so newbie gamers should just try another game like
Mario Kart or Ridge Racer.

Tips for any beginners willing to try to beat this game.
-------------------
1. Use the Practice Mode to practice!
2. Don't hit the turbo strips unless you know how to navigate through them.
Unlike most games, these turbo strips are only useful if you know how to use
them. Once again, use practice mode.
3. Press down to brake, the only time I use them is when I'm going too fast
after a turbo strip, not while turning.
4. You can restart the level by pressing Start and highlight Restart. Better
than losing and starting over.
5. Remember that pressing left and right is like strafing and that L & R
actually turn your vehicle.
6. Use L & R in tandem with left and right, the controls are pretty tight so
doing that will make sharp turns.
7. Some turns are taken BEFORE the road actually turns. Most racers should
already know this.
8. Try to avoid contact with the CPU, especially on the sides. You can knock
them off the track with a good hit from behind, but it will slow you down.
9. If you're out of jump, you can sometimes get through certain pits by going
really fast.
10. Memorize the levels. It's important that you do so that won't fall into
pits as much.

The Dump
------
1 - rub up against the right side to grab turbos.
2 - make a hard left to get to the left side of the road, grab turbos in the
air.
3 - make your way through by hard turning right, then left, use the barrier
on the right to bounce you back in position. I don't bother with the turbos.
4 - use turbo if needed, this is the easiest part.
5 - hit the turbo strip. To survive, make a hard left when you hit the ground
(only if you hit ALL or most of the turbos). That means you must fly off the
left side of the road, which will land you onto another road. Check the
diagram below. This tactic usually works when you hit all except one of the
turbos. The number of turbos hit makes a HUGE difference.

The Suburbs
--------
1 - In the tunnel, make a hard right, left, and then right again. Make sure
to actually turn before you go past the signs.
2 - Jump over the gaps.
3 - Hard left, then recover by pressing right, grab the turbos.
4 - Do whatever you want in the tunnels.
5 - Hard left, stay on the road.
6 - Make a hard right and collect the turbos
7 - Simple, right, left, right pattern.
8 - Stay in the middle of the road and hit the turbo strip, turn left before
you see the left turn.
9 - You can try to hit the next strip, but it's hard.

Tunnels
---------
1 - Make a hard right in the tunnel, try NOT to hit the sides, if you bounced
off the sides, try making a recovery.
2 - Jump onto each platform ONLY when you're going really slow.
3 - Don't get the turbos on the left, instead, go right and then back to the
middle.
4 - Hit the turbo strip and go to the right side of the road and collect the
jump powerups.
5 - Make a hard left back to the middle.
6 - Either jump over the pit, or move over.
7 - Hopefully you still have a good speed going. Stay in the middle. If you
are going fast, don't bother jumping.
8 - Right after the tunnel there will be road blocks on the left and right
side so once again, stay in the middle.
9 - You don't need to jump over these gaps, just avoid them.
10 - On the bridge, stay on the right side and collect the turbos. You have
two choices, either jump over the hole, or turn left, then right. If you're
going really fast, just go straight and it'll jump for you.
11 - It is important that you hit most of the turbo jumpers. When you do, hold
left(there's a rail on the left which will keep you from falling). You can use
L later, but that will decrease your speed and you will start spinning around.
12 - Stabilize yourself, most people will want to slow down, but if you're a
speed demon, then go for it. Normally, you would jump at the end of the
platform, but if you're going really fast, jump when you're going uphill,
though it'll be a blind jump.

Radioactive Waste
---------
1 - Hit the turbo strip, try to make your way past the CPU.
2 - Slow down before the tunnel ends, I prefer going on the right side of the
bridge. Then get back in the middle.
3 - In the tunnel, try to hit the turbo strip.
4 - If you hit them all, brake a little before the tunnel ends. Try to make it
on the road.
6 - Collect the jump powerups, hard left, then right.
7 - Go under the pipe.
8 - Make a hard right and tap left while you're collecting turbos.
9 - Make your way through the bridge, either jump over the pothole or go right
through it if you're fast.
10 - This part depends on your speed, if you're going slow, jump, if you're
going fast, just turbo your way through it.
11 - Don't bother collecting the jump powerups unless you don't have any left.
12 - Either jump over every hole, or use turbo. Make a hard left while doing
this to get the turbos.

Downtown
---------
1 - Move past the box and that thing on the rope.
2 - Fall on the right side of the road, jump, and hit the turbo strip(if you
are going fast, slow down immediately).
3 - Don't jump, but drop onto the road in front, not to the right of you.
4 - Hit the turbos and make your way left to avoid the stoppers. Stay on the
right side of the road to avoid the car.
5 - Move to the left side of the road and make a hard right(not too hard or
you'll fly out of a hole) to collect the turbos, recover by making a hard left
to get the jump powerups.
6 - Drop onto the next road, stay on the left side.
7 - Don't be intimidated by the construction steel, it will not affect you.
8 - Drop onto the left side of the next road leading downhill.
9 - Stay on the left side and land once again on land.
10 - Truthfully, I don't bother hitting the turbo strip on this part since it
usually propels me to God knows where. So stay on the left and go uphill.
11 - Move to the right side so that you can get the turbos.
12 - Turbo your way through them, and get ready to fly, while in the air, make
a hard left.

13 - Recover by trying to get back in the middle of the road. Jump.

The Spiral
-------------
1 - Grab the two turbos, then make your way back to the right side.
2 - At the uphill part, use turbo on the right side and you will jump, it will
be blind, but make a hard right and you will probably land back on the road
(the other way to do it would be NOT to use turbo).
3 - Let the walls bounce you around, you will automatically land on the spiral
4 - This part is a bit tricky, but can be done with practice. When you land on
the spiral, you will be going really fast. First, try to stabilize by TRYING
to get on the left side(gravity has less effect there), then slow down by
pressing down a few times. By the ramp, you should be going at a decent speed.
5 - Collect turbos by simply letting gravity do its work and recovering by
pressing left. Use one turbo every 3 seconds.
6 - After the spiral, you will be in a tunnel. Go on the left, turbo, and
jump.
7 - In front of you should be some pipes and turbos, just let yourself onto
the pipes and get the turbos.
8 - Another spiral begins. Speed is a very big factor here. If you're going
kind of fast, you must run over every pit and try to stabilize your position.
If you're slow, then avoid the holes and poles with left and right, not L and
R.
9 - When the spiral is gone, make a hard left.
This part should be memorized, it's just right side, left side, and right
side. Remember that on the left side, you jump(just look at the power-ups you
get on the platform if you have trouble memorizing).
10 - Jump onto the platform and go on the right side. SLOW DOWN.
11 - Make a hard left, then right, and jump.
12 - Go on the left side and jump.
13 - Go on the right side and drop, then make a hard left.
14 - Jump over the thing, get the jumps, jump over to the left, collect turbos
and turbo your way to the START.
If you want to see the credits, you gotta have it on NORMAL, and you have to
place 1st, restart as many times as you want. It will take several times, but
the overall feeling you'll get when you beat the game is worth it.
