Introduction [IN00]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Head to the Arctic Circle for an off-road racing rampage, where sub-zero
hazards, unpredictable terrain, and reckless rivals ensure that no two laps are
ever the same. Racing just went crazy so throw on your thermals and get set for
a dose of pure MotorStorm adrenaline.
Arctic Edge offers the player some brand new options to try to give you the
greatest MotorStorm experience possible, below are just a couple of them;
- The brutal and reckless MotorStorm racing experience makes its debut on
the PSP and this time, it's tearing up Alaska.
- Plough through 12 reversible, multi-route tracks with six classic
MotorStorm vehicles plus the brand new Snowmachine and Snowcat.
- Customise your vehicle to outpace rivals in style.
MotorStorm: Arctic Edge is one of the most brutal off road racers available,
and is exclusive to the PSP and PS2. This FAQ/Walkthrough was primarily written
on the PSP version and will cover the basics and the most challenging parts.
Being a racing game this guide will generally stick to discussing how to find
missing emblems and collectables. If you need any more help on getting through
parts of this game, feel free to contact me via email or sign up on the website
listed where I will be available to help.

Handling [BA02]
-^-^-^-^-^-^-
Generally, all of the vehicles will handle well. Each set of vehicles has a
different skill level in the likes of handling, speed etc. These are true to
some level but I wouldn't take them all as set in stone. What you will find
whilst playing through the game is that some of vehicles will have
significantly better handling and they aren't necessarily the ones which the
stats say are better.
Gradient curves are the largest problem for the vehicles as, you'll have a
tendency to ride too high up the curve and either fall off the track or flip
upside down. This can be countered by entering the corners more slowly with an
aim to accelerate out of them. But you will run the risk of being overtaken if
you do decide to drop your speed significantly. Aside from this just watch out
for sharp bends and you should be fine.
-^-^-^-^-^-^-
Boosting [BA03]
-^-^-^-^-^-^-
The boost function in this game is integral to your success. It works on a bar
function where, when the bar reaches the top, the vehicle overheats and
explodes. Avoiding this requires a little bit of monitoring, but the benefits
of the boost are superb. It'll allow you to catapult past people and outrun
opponents to the finishing line. The boost bar refills itself by cooling down
the engine. Cooling time can be decreased by driving through water and deep
snow, but doing so will also result in a brief loss of speed. Once the bar
reaches the top it will begin to beep. There are 14 beeps in total before the
car explodes. Try to use all 14 as you'll gain at least two more vital seconds
of boosting, which over the course of a three lap race can gain you valuable
seconds.
-^-^-^-^-^-^-
Tracks [BA04]
-^-^-^-^-^-^-
Every track in this game has two variations, forward and reverse. The tracks
are identical in each direction except mirrored depending on direction. The
terrains of the tracks vary greatly depending on location but generally its
snow and rock.
The track listing is as follows;
- Anguta Glacier
- Ascension
- Eagle Falls
- Gold Rush
- Log Jam
- Mud Bowl
- Northern Face
- Snowgod Canyon
- The Chasm
- Vertigo
- Widow Maker
- Wolf Pack Mountain

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Emblems [EM00]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Emblems are the various logos imprinted upon the race tracks. They take the
form of Killzone, Little Big Planet, WipeOut and Pursuit Force symbols/logos.
These logo's can be found all over the game and can be collected in any game
mode. The easiest mode to collect them in is Free Play under Wreckreation. In
this mode, you’re not confined to having to try to win the race.
By collecting emblems you unlock additional sponsors, drivers and even a badge
for collecting them all.
To collect an emblem you have to firstly find it and then pause the game and
enter ''Photo Mode''. From here, aim the camera at the emblem and take the
photo. You should receive a popup message saying that the emblem had been
collected. If not repeat this process until you do.
-^-^-^-^-^-^-
Killzone [EM01]
-^-^-^-^-^-^-
Eagle Falls - Direction: Forward
Follow the track around until you reach a forced split in the road where you
can either go through an ice cave looking area or go over a jump to the right
of the cave, take the left route through the cave and out the other side and
stick to the left most wall and follow this through to the next cave. Follow
this until you see a gap in the roof and go just past this and turn around to
see it on the wall above the gap in the cave.
Log Jam - Direction Forward
Follow the main road along, taking no side turns until you reach the first
forced split in the road with the directional arrow signs saying that there is
a split. This should look like a pillar supporting an inaccessible bridge above
it. Take the right hand path within the boundaries of the logs and the rock
face and follow this along. Suspended at the end of this road is a load of logs
held by a crane. The emblem is on the side facing you.
The Chasm - Direction: Reverse
At the last section before the end of the lap, you have to choose either the
high metal curve or the lower one. Either will do as after that point, you'll
have to make your way to the right most path and go off the ramp. After going
over that ramp, turn around to see the emblem on the cliff wall behind you.
Widow Maker - Direction: Forward
Follow the track round until you reach the first metal curved ramp. As soon as
you get on to the metal part, turn around and you'll see the emblem on a wooden
fence which runs alongside the drop next to the curve.

Little Big Planet [EM02]
-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-
Anguta Glacier - Direction: Reverse
Drive through the first snow and ice section until you meet an area with 3
possible directions, two which go around the outside, and are the left most
path and the right most path, and one which goes down the centre on a lower
level. Select the middle lower path and choose any route through there until
the snow changes to rock and dirt. Then take the right path under the bridge
and follow this all the way along until you see the next split in the road sign.
Take the right path which appears to go beneath the metal curve above, and
then make your way as far to the right as possible beyond the large support
coming from the floor. Look upwards whilst beneath the metal curve to see the
emblem on the underside of it.
Ascension - Direction: Forward
Wait until you reach the hairpin corners which weave up the mountain. The last
hairpin which takes you up the mountain has a wooden fence with a stand and
billboard on it and it’ll be on your right hand side. On the left hand side of
the billboard is a piece of fence with an emblem on it.
Gold Rush - Direction: Forward
At the first set of dual-paths you can take either one as they reach the same
destination. When you approach the second split in the road you need to take
the wooden raised path. The emblem can be found on the back of the second water
tower you drive parallel with. Go beyond the second water tower and look
behind you to see it.
Northern Face - Direction: Forward
After exiting the caves you’ll be on the snow curves. We are only interested in
the second leftward bending snow curve. You will be able to tell which curve
this is as you briefly drive over a rocky section beforehand. When on the
second snow curve you need to jump off a snowy ramp which is literally just
before you make the turn. Instantly turn around to see the emblem a little way
down the cliff side.
Wolf Pack Mountain - Direction: Reverse
On the second to last corner, on a large curve, there is a statue of a wolf. On
the far side of the wolf, look on the front leg of the wolf there is the
emblem.

Pursuit Force [EM03]
-^-^-^-^-^-^-
Anguta Glacier - Direction: Forward
Drive round the starting corner and take the left most jump next to the bridge.
Turn around after landing so you are facing the way you just came and drive
alongside the ramp and the emblem is on the cliff in front of you.
Gold Rush - Direction: Reverse
Continue racing and when you reach the wooden curve which mounts the wall, then
head to the furthest right path coming off of it and enter the cave. On the
other side of the cave on the raised level stop and look behind you to find the
emblem on the wall above the cave entrance.
Mud Bowl - Direction: Forward
Race towards the end of the track where the area is rocky, take the left path
and there should be a large ramp which will go over an area of a snowy cliff.
Whilst over that area access the camera and the emblem should be on the snow
directly below you.
Northern Face - Direction: Reverse
Race around the track until you reach the section where you can re-enter the
caves which you initially start in. Instead of entering the cave there is a
ramp to the right. Follow the track round and fall off the ramp at the end of
this and on the cliff face behind where you fell will be the emblem.
Snowgod Canyon - Direction: Forward
This one is quite far along the track, you'll see a split in the track quite
near the end, and it has a very tall pillar in the centre of the split and
looks like a totem pole. Atop the totem pole is the next emblem.

WipeOut [EM04]
-^-^-^-^-^-^-
Log Jam - Direction: Reverse
To find this one you'll need to get towards the end of the track where there is
a small cave entrance coming off of the main path. This entrance leads upward
to a small jump. After making the jump, immediately stop and turn around and
the emblem is above the exit of the cave on the cliff face above.
Vertigo - Direction: Forward
Race as normal, and go through the curve with VERTIGO written on the floor.
Instead of turning left to the jump at the end, continue forward and drop off
the ledge. Then turn around and the emblem is on the wall you just came from.
Vertigo - Direction: Reverse
This emblem is located by the second dual route; you can either go left and go
around the area, or go right and take the jump. Either route will do, as we are
interested in the crane over the top of this area as it has a palette or
something similar hanging from it; we want to be beneath this as the emblem is
on the bottom of.
Widow Maker - Direction: Reverse
This is relatively close to the beginning; basically drive round the track
until you drive beneath the row of supporting beams coming from the ground
(after the second corner). Continue heading down the hill, staying on the right
hand side of the hill rather than levelling off on to the left. As you go down
the hill further along, there should be a small wooden fence on the left hand
side wall and the emblem is on the wall behind the fence.
Wolf Pack Mountain - Direction: Forward
This one is right at the end of the track. To reach it, drive through the track
taking any route up until you reach the large metal curve. After this take
the right path which leads up a hill. Follow this round until you see a metal
ramp at the next split in the path. Go over the ramp and through the cave on
the opposite side, and then follow the path round to the wooden hut with the
path leading through it, on the opposite side of the hut, turn around to see
the emblem above the exit of the hut.
