Hello, welcome to my guide for Kin'iro no Corda PSP, my name is Nika.

This guide is based on the PSP version, however since the game mechanics are
the same for al three platforms it can be used for the PC ans PS2 version as
well. The controls will be different for the PS2 and PC version, of course.

If you are looking for something specific, you can use the codes in the table
of contents below and us CTRL+F to find it. It saves you a lot of scrolling so
please use it. If you have any questions or comments, my contact info can be
found at the bottom of this guide.

I hope this guide will be useful, and happy gaming!

1. Thank You                                                             [TY00]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Small thank you section, for everyone I need to thank.

Koei,  for making the game. (sorry, this one feel obligatory xD)

My-Neoromance.com - A wonderful site and forum about Neoromance games and
otome games in general. Lot of info to be found and a great community. If
you are interested in talking about the game or find out about other games,
  I highly recommend visiting.

Various members from the neoromance forum. The discussions and walkthrough
thread in the forums gave me lots of new strategies and insights. Most
notably are maybe Kaho, Wasseryharp and Seryass but many others as well.

neoromance.info
for information about what to answer when retrieving reports for Amou and
Kanazawa-sensei and how many Fata you need to catch to receive rewards. If
you can read Japanese this is a very useful site, if not you'll probably
  get lost.

2.  the game and series                                                  [GA00]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kin'iro no Corda is an otome game by Koei. it was first released in 2003 for
the PC. About a year later it was re-released on for PS2 with additional
content (extra events, more voice, and animated endings). Another year later
the game was re-released again, this time for the PSP. The PSP version is a
port of the PS2 version, with some small additions.

A second game was published in 2007, titled Kin'iro no Corda 2, although this
time only for PS2.The story in the sequel picks up a few months after the first
game ended. In late 2007 an extra disk, Kin'iro no Corda 2 Encore was released.
Encore continues the story of Corda 2 a bit further. In march 2009 Corda 2 was
ported to the PSP under the name Kin'iro no Corda 2 Forte. The port introduces
a new character, Etou Kiriya, and has additional events, but the content from
Encore was not included. On august 20 2009 Kin'iro no Corda 2 Forte Encore went
on sale, this is a port of the original Encore for the PS2, with five new
additions. Like with all other main characters, you can now have the option of
starting with Etou as your boyfriend. There is a new training camp event with
new CGs as well as extra after school events and CGs, and a special event after
the ending.

A few months after the game was released a manga serialisation started in the
monthly Lala. The mangaka is Kure Yuki, who also did the character design for
the games. There are currently (July 2009) 12 volumes published and the series
is still ongoing. Viz has licensed the manga and is currently publishing it in
English.

In 2006 the anime series stared to air under the title Kin'iro no Corda
~primo passo~. The anime has 26 episodes covering the story from the first
game, and has been released on 9 DVDs. A 2 episode special named Kin'iro no
Corda ~secundo passo~ was also aired in March 2009. The special introduced the
3 new characters from the 2nd game and encore.

Four light novels have been published, titled 'kimi no tame ni dekiru koto' and
'kimi no meion ga suki', and two more for Forte; 'tsuioku no solfe' and 'kimi
to boku no polyfony'. The stories in these novels are extras not featured in
any of the games and tell about the feelings of the boys for the (nameless)
protagonist (meaning, you). Currently the novels are only available in Japanese

There is a wealth of CDs that have been released, including soundtracks,
character songs, and drama CDs. Listing them all would be far to much for
this (already far too long) introduction, so for anyone interested I'd like to
point to our everlasting friend, wikipedia.

If you were already a fan of the series, then I have most likely bored you with
information you already knew. If not, I hope my info-spam has been of any use
to you.

2.1  Game data                                                           [GA01]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kin'iro no Corda for the PSP was released in 2005, and is a port of the
PS2 version with a few extras. So we get all of events, little quizzes with
Lili, and a memory mode in which you can look at all the CGs, listen to the
music pieces, and replay events.

2.2  Plot                                                                [GA02]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The school you go to is called Seiso Gakuin, and it has two departments. The
first is the regular department, in which you are enrolled, this is like any
other school. The second department is the music department, all students that
are enrolled here study music as their primary subject. One day you see a fairy
in front of the school, and when it notices you can see him he introduces
himself as Lili and happily says that you will participate too in something,
and flies away.

During lunch a member of the news club comes running up to you to ask for your
comment as a participant, but is surprised to see that you have no idea what
she is talking about. You get dragged along to see the announcement of the
students that participate in the music concours, and you're just as surprised
as she is to see your name on the list of participants.

When you meet Lili again he says that you should participate because you can
see him, and gives you a magic violin to use. And thus you begin with
practising for the concours...

2.3  Characters                                                          [GA03]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's a short introduction of al the characters. Please note that I use the
Japanese name order, meaning surname-first name, and will usually address them
by their surname as well.

Protagonist
The main character of this game, the protagonist, you. The default name
is Hino Kahoko, but you can change it to anything you like. You're a
second year student in the regular department, but you were suddenly
chosen to participate in the music concours. You play a (magic) violin.

Lili
A music fairy that lives on the school grounds. He gave you a magic violin
to participate in the music concours. Lili gives you advice throughout the
game and has a shop where you can buy presents and training items.

Tsukimori Len
A second year music student, He plays the violin. Tsukimori is usually
cold to anyone he speaks with, but this is also the reason why half of the
female students are his fan. He feels like there is no other reason to
participate other then winning, and is very serious about this.

Tsuchiura Ryoutaro
A second year regular student, he is a member of the soccer club. At first
it seems like Tsuchiura isn't really interested in the concours, but when
it turns out that he can see Lili and plays piano he gets dragged into it
    as well.

Shimizu Keiichi
A first year music student, he plays the cello. Shimizu always appears to
be sleepy and a bit (or a lot) spaced out. The cello and music are his
life and he feels that playing music exactly as written in the sheets is
very important, and practices this to perfection.

Hihara Kazuki
A third year music student, he plays the trumpet. Hihara is always
cheerful and simply wants to enjoy the concours as much as possible.
Although their personalities are different, he is best friends with Yunoki

Yunoki Azuma
A third year music student, he plays the flute. Yunoki is always smiling
and friendly as well as helpful to everyone, but underneath that smile
lies a much darker personality. He also has his own, overprotective,
    fan club.

Fuyuumi Shouko
A first year music student, she plays the clarinet. Fuyuumi is very shy,
especially when there are boys around, and has little faith in her own
    abilities.

Amou Nami
A second year regular student, she is a member of the news club. As
such Amou is always trying to get info about the participants. She has a
    very cheerful and positive personality.

Kanazawa Hiroto
A teacher in the music department. Kanazawa is usually slacking of and
has a very relaxed attitude towards his work. It seems like was much
more enthusiastic about music in the past though.

Ousaki Shinobu
A Seiso Gakuin graduate, he plays the violin. Ousaki was a participant in
a previous concours, although he didn't win. He has a very kind
personality and tries to help you as much as possible.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Controls                                                              [CO00]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The controls are pretty much straight forward and fairly simple to figure out
as you go, but just to be safe:

Circle button:   Used to select things in the menu or continue a message. When
you are at a location you can use it to talk to people or
                examine things.
Triangle button: While on the map or at at location, open the menu.
Square button:   While at a location, it summons the map of that location,
When you are in a menu it can be used to get extra information
X Button:        Cancel a selection or go back in the menu.
Directional pad: Walk. Browse through options or menu.
Analog stick:    Run. Browse through options or menu (faster in lists)
R Button:        Skip (can only be used on text you've already seen once)
L Button:        Hide the text.
Start button:    Start the game, Skip movies. In game: call the text log.
Select button:   Call tutorial mode.
Home:            Press to end the game.

Controls for the PS2 version are the same. For the pc version they are
differentof course. But most of it is done with the mouse anyway.

4. Menu's                                                                [ME00]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here I will translate and explain the menu's of the game. I divided them into
different sections to make things clearer.

4.1 Main menu                                                            [ME01]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The main menu is the menu you see when after you press start when you've seen
the intro animation, it has 6 options:

+------------------+--------------------------------------------+
| menu option      | function                                   |
+------------------+--------------------------------------------+
| continue         | resume with a save game. The first time you|
|                  | see this menu there is no continue option  |
|                  | because there are no save files if you play|
|                  | for the first time.                        |
|                  |                                            |
| from beginning   | select this to start a new game.           |
| memories         | submenu. see below.                        |
| options          | submenu. see below.                        |
| controls         | explains the game controls.                |
| game previews    | lets you see trailers for other games.     |
+------------------+--------------------------------------------+

4.2  Options                                                             [ME02]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The options menu is opened by selecting it from the main menu or any of the in
game menu's. It has 8 options:

+------------------+--------------------------------------------+
| menu option      | function                                   |
+------------------+--------------------------------------------+
| message speed    | (slow - fast)                              |
|                  | Message speed allows you to select the     |
|                  | speed at which messages should appear.     |
|                  |                                            |
| auto continue    | (on   - off)                               |
|                  | When auto continue is set to on, the text  |
|                  | will keep rolling without you having to    |
|                  | press the circle button.                   |
|                  |                                            |
| skip setting     | (everything - already read - nothing)      |
|                  | The skip setting selects what will be      |
|                  | skipped if you use skip. Everything skips  |
|                  | everything, regardless whether or not      |
|                  | you've already seen it or not. Already read|
|                  | skips only the parts that you've already   |
|                  | seen. And nothing skips, nothing.          |
|                  |                                            |
| skip activate    | (press R down - press R once - always)     |
|                  | With skip activate you can select how to   |
|                  | activate suppression R down means you have |
|                  | to keep pressing R in order to use skip.   |
|                  | Press R once means you only have to press R|
|                  | once, and the game will continue skipping  |
|                  | until you reach new text or press R or the |
|                  | circle button. With always skip will always|
|                  | be active.                                 |
|                  |                                            |
| volume           | (low - high)                               |
|                  | Volume regulates the volume of the sound   |
|                  | effects and voices compared to the         |
|                  | background music.                          |
|                  |                                            |
| voice            | (on  - off)                                |
|                  | With voice you select whether or not you   |
|                  | want to hear voices (wherever this is      |
|                  | possible of course).                       |
|                  |                                            |
| default settings | returns all settings to default            |
| save settings    | save changes and return to the game        |
+------------------+--------------------------------------------+

4.3  Memories                                                            [ME03]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The memories menu can be entered from the main menu, as soon as you select it
a short message will be displayed that it is updating, and within a second that
it has finished updating. The menu has 5 options:

+------------------+---------------------------------------------+
| menu option      | function                                    |
+------------------+---------------------------------------------+
| performances     | performances allows you to listen to a the  |
|                  | BGMs and pieces you and your rivals have    |
|                  | played. In order for a piece of your own to |
|                  | be added you need to have both the          |
|                  | manuscript and arrangement at 100.          |
|                  |                                             |
| scenes           | lets you view al the CGs you have collected |
|                  |                                             |
| recollection     | view all the animations you've already seen |
|                  |                                             |
| moments          | somewhat of a bonus section, when you have  |
|                  | met the requirements listed you will be able|
|                  | to see extra events, and sometimes these    |
|                  | also have CGs. so keep this in mind when    |
|                  | want to collect all CGs.                    |
|                  |                                             |
| time             | With the last option you can review all of  |
|                  | the events that you have seen so far and    |
|                  | try out the reactions to different answers. |
+------------------+---------------------------------------------+
the options sound fairly logical in Japanese but in English it
just looks plain weird..

By the way, when you have seen an ending with a character, that character will
listen to you when you play a piece under performance. It's completely useless
but kind of cute.

from all of the above, the only new one is the practice menu, but that is also
the main point right? The practice menu has 4 options, although they will not
all be available from the beginning.

5. Game mechanics                                                        [GM00]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the following sections I will explain more about the game mechanics. After
that you should be able to play the game, the walkthrough is more of a general
description of the flow of the game, as the rest really depends on which
character you want to go for. Also remember to check the tips and trick section
if you have any difficulties, or just want to make your playtrough easier.

Your goal in Kiniro no Corda is to win the concours, but ultimately to win the
heart of your favourite guy. To win the concours you'll have to collect Fata
and learn how to play music pieces, that you can then practice and play in the
selections. The game is divided into 4 selections, and with each selection new
Fata, and thus music pieces, appear. For each selection you will have to
collect Fata, practice your music, and aim for victory!
But to win the heart of your favourite guy you'll have to spend time with him,
and get to know him better. Of course, both can be done at the same time.

As said before the game is divided into 4 selections. The number of days until
the next selection is displayed in the upper left corner of the screen. Every
day after class you will have time to practice, but only until 6 o clock. When
the time goes past 6 o clock you will automatically go home. Note that you
can't practice if doing so will make the time go past 6, so plan your time.

In the weekends you are free from school, so you have from 12 to 6 to practice.
During the weekends two new locations will also become available, the park and
later in the game a shopping street in front of the station.

5.1 getting music                                                        [GM01]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Getting music is one of the most important things in the game. Without any
music you can't compete in the concours. Not only that, but playing music to
(or with) the person your wooing helps to raise their affection for you.

You get music by collecting Fata, the music fairies. There are two different
kinds of Fata. The first are the Ferro, who hold the manuscripts for the
pieces of music that you can learn. The second are the Laame, who hold the
actual arrangements that you can play. For each piece of music there are
multiple manuscripts and arrangements, although the actual number varies.

First you must search the Ferro. When you practice a manuscript (you get your
first one from Lili) a timer appears at the top of the screen, during this
time the Ferro will be visible and you can catch them. As soon as the time
ends though, the Ferro will hide themselves again and won't appear again until
you practice a manuscript again. You have to catch all the Ferro for a music
piece to be able to catch the corresponding Laame.

When you've caught all the Ferro, play each manuscript until the experience
for each of them is 20 or higher. By doing so a message will appear saying that
you can now find the Laame for that music piece. Laame are invisible, but you
can hear them playing their arrangement. To catch a Laame, listen carefully to
the music and try to find the place where the music is at it's loudest. When
you catch a Laame it will shortly appear, to show that you've found it.

Note: on the map screen, right below the name of all the locations, the number
of Fata in that location is displayed. Use this to see if there are any
     Fata left in that location.
Also, sometimes before you can explore, a message will pop up giving you
the location of some Fata, use this to help you locate the Fata!

When you have found your Laame, the Arrangement Bell option will appear in the
practice menu. With this you can call a Laame to learn it's arrangement. When
you call a Laame, you will see a short play, you'll have to choose how to
continue it and this effects the keywords of the arrangement, more on that
later.

Now that you have your Ferros and Laames, you can practice the music piece you
want. To practice the manuscripts, choose the first option in the practice menu
to practice an arrangement choose the second option. To win the selection you
have to choose an arrangement that has two keywords (you can check the keywords
in the info menu. Keyword for the current selection will have a orange red-ish
line surrounding them) and practice all the manuscripts and the arrangement
you want to play to 100 exp. Sometimes when you've seen a dream related to an
arrangement you can practice it to 150.

The way in which you practice your music piece is up to you. You can practice
the manuscripts first, but you can also practice the arrangements first and
use the remaining time of the day to practice the manuscripts. (practising
arrangements takes 50 minutes of your time, practising manuscripts takes only
20 minutes). I like to practice the arrangements first, because this will
result in more Bravo Points (more on those below) when you practice the
arrangements.

When you practice arrangements, be sure to do so in front of people. When you
practice an arrangement a small red line will appear around you. All people
that are standing inside this line will listen to you, and if you preform well
they will give you Bravo Points that can be used to buy items. Also, if you
preform in front of any of the chaseble characters, their affection for you
will rise. This is a great, and easy, way to raise affection.

You can also play in an ensemble with other students, however this won't give
you any experience. It will however give you bravo points. The amount of Bravo
Points is fixed: 10 points for a duo, 50 points for a trio, and 150 points for
a quintet. Each person that listens will give you the corresponding amount of
points, so this is a great way to get bravo points. If you play together with
any of the chaseble characters their affection will rise too.

note: each manuscript and arrangement requires you to have certain base stats.
This means that if your skill level is too low, you cannot play them. Use
the info menu the find out the required stats and skills and train those
that are still too low to be able to play your piece.

Tip:  try to catch all the Ferro and Laame the first few days. That way you'll
have plenty of time to practice for the concours. In the last selection
this will be a lot harder though.

5.2  raising affection                                                   [GM02]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To catch a guy you will have to raise their affection There are various ways
to do so.

The first is to simply talk to them. Each time you talk to them their affection
will rise a little bit. However there is no use in talking to them 200 times a
day, after a while they will just repeat the same message, and their affection
won't rise any more Sometimes when you talk to them a small event will occur
(usually, these are voiced) these events will raise their affection more. If
you get the option to choose from a few possible answers (usually three) and
you pick the right one their affection will rise even more. Plus in some of
them you get to see a pretty CG.

Sometimes when you go to bed you see a dream about a character. These dreams
relate to an arrangement, and you can now practice that arrangement to 150.
Using these arrangements in the concours make winning a lot easier, and when
performing them to get bravo points you get more points too. Provided that the
keywords match, of course.

The second option is to perform an arrangement to them. Each time you play an
Arrangement besides you victim, ehm, I mean love interest, their affection
will rise a little bit. This is a very good way to raise affection. Each
character has one or two arrangements they especially like, and playing these
to them will make them even happier. You can also play in an ensemble with the
character. But they won't play with you until they are convinced of your
skills. So keep performing besides them until they offer to play together.

The third way is to give them presents. Presents can be bought in the Fata shop
by using Bravo Points (more info below). Each character has 4 presents that
you can give to them to raise their affection. When you've bought a present
simply talk to the character to give it. They might not accept it right away,
but just keep trying until the event shows up. To see which present is intended
for which person check the item section in the extra's  :)

ps: you can't give the presents to the wrong person, so don't worry about that.

Each character has 2 endings, a date ending and a perfect ending. To get a date
ending you only have to rise a characters affection to 600 (you can check
their affection in the info menu). To get their perfect ending you will have to
do a bit more though.

Each guy has 2 stats, affection and rivalry. to get a perfect ending you have
to raise both to 1000. (except for Kanazawa, Ousaki and Amou, who need special
events to proceed on their perfect route) Both stats can be checked in the
info menu, Affection is shown as little hearts, while rivalry is shown as
lightning bolts. Besides raising both stats you have to see a special 'love
event' every selection. If you don't see those you won't get the perfect ending
even if you have both affection and rivalry maxed out.

Each character has their own way of raising rivalry (see the chart below).
Besides that you can also raise a character rivalry by performing well in the
selections. So by winning the selections you make getting your perfect ending
easier.

+-------------------+---------------------------------------+
| character         | rivalry rises when                    |
+-------------------+---------------------------------------+
| Tsukimori Len     | All round parameters are high         |
| Tsuchiura Ryotaro | Sadness parameter is high             |
| Shimizu Keiichi   | Skill Level is high *                 |
| Hihara Kazuki     | Brightness parameter is high          |
| Yunoki Azuma      | Earn lots of bravo points             |
| Fuyuumi Shoko     | Elegance parameter is high            |
+-------------------+---------------------------------------+
| you also need all skills to get Shimizu, it doesn't matter|
| whether you get them by practicing or buying books though |
+-----------------------------------------------------------+

When a character likes you enough he or she might invite you on a date. Each
character has two dates. one that happens after school or in the evening, and
one in the weekend. The date in the weekend takes away your whole day though,
so keep in mind that you can't practice on that day (it can bring you in some
serious trouble)

You know when you can get an ending with a guy if Lili gives you the music
piece 'Ai no aisatsu'. You can't play this piece in during the concours but
it is vital to the ending. Lili only gives it to you on school days though
(hence that last school day before the final selection). You won't get the
piece if you are aiming for Fuyuumi or Amou though, so don't get frustrated
if their affection is already at 1000 and Lili still hasn't given you the
piece, you'll never get it when aiming for them.

5.3 bravo points                                                         [GM03]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bravo points are points that you earn by playing arrangements to people. They
can be used to buy presents and training tools in de Fata shops. This way they
can make your life a lot easier.

When you play an arrangement a thin red line appears around you, all the people
inside this line will listen to you preform. If you preform well enough they
will award you with Bravo Points. The more your manuscripts and arrangement
are maxed out (near 100) the more Bravo points you will get. (this is why I
like to practice to manuscripts first, this way I will get more bravo pints)

When you've seen a dream that relates to an arrangement and you can now
practice that to 150, you will get much more Bravo Points when it reaches 100+
Of course the keywords must still match though. Even is your arrangement has
150, if the keywords don't match you will hardly get more Bravo points.

You can also play in an ensemble with other students, The amount of Bravo
Points is fixed: 10 points for a duo, 50 points for a trio, and 150 points for
a quintet. Each person that listens will give you the corresponding amount of
points, so this is a great way to get bravo points.

When you have earned enough Bravo points you can go to the Fata shops to buy
items. There are 4 types of items that you can buy. The first are training
tools, these help you raise your stats faster. The second are skill books,
when you buy one you will instantly learn a skill, even if you haven't maxed
out the corresponding manuscript. Buying skill books can be time saving. The
third type of items are presents, giving those to characters will raise their
affection for you. Each character has only 4 presents though. The last type of
items are clothing and accessory These can be equipped during the concours to
raise affection of guys.

There are 4 Fata shops in the game, but two of them can only be accessed later
in the game. The first shop is Lili's shop, its located in the statue at the
school gate. This shop sells presents, skill books, clothes and first level
training tools. The second shop is located in the statue on the far right side
of the park area, this shop sells presents and clothes and occasionally
training tools. The third shop is located on the school roof, which become
accessible during the second selection. This shop sells presents, skill books
and both first and second level training items. The last shop is located in
the statue in front of the station, it becomes accessible during the third
selection. This shop sells only second level training items.

Fata Shops also give you items when you've collected enough Fata. Some of these
are training tools, but others give you discount or reduce practice time, so
it is worth catching as many Fata as you can.

+-------+-----------------------+----------------------------------------+
| Fata  | item given            | function                               |
+-------+-----------------------+----------------------------------------+
|   5   | level 1 training item |                                        |
|  10   | yellow radar          | shows people on the map                |
|  20   | level 2 training item |                                        |
|  30   | magic music stand     | practice 2 manuscripts at the same time|
|  40   | magic discount ticket | gives discount in the Fata shops       |
|  50   | magic watch           | reduces practice time.                 |
|  60   | red radar             | shows important people on the map      |
|  75   | large magic watch     | reduces practice time again            |
|  90   | blue radar            | shows Fata on the map                  |
| 114   | proof of friendship   | triggers an event                      |
+-------+-----------------------+----------------------------------------+
| proof of friendship triggers an event in which the fata give you a sort|
| of diploma, you'll need it to complete the memory section.             |
+------------------------------------------------------------------------+

note : the park and shopping street in front of the station are only accessible
during the weekends, so naturally these shops as well.

note2: the shops react on what you buy. so if you buy lots of armlets there
is a high chance that the shop will have more of them in stock the
      next day. Not always, though.

5.4 using items                                                          [GM04]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Using items can make your practising a lot easier and faster. Training tools
can be bought from the Fata Shops with BP. When you practice you will auto-
matically get an option to use items if you have them.

There are two 'levels' for training items. The first level items multiply
whatever stat they relate to by 1.5 . Second level training items multiply
by 2. For example, the leather armlet multiplies the exp you get from
practising manuscripts by 1.5 and the metal armlet multiplies the exp by 2.

For each stat (skill, elegance, brightness, and sadness) there are items, as
well as items that make you learn a manuscript or arrangement faster and to
earn more bravo points. For each of these there are a level 1 and level 2 item.

+-------------------+---------------------------+---------------------+-----+
| item              | effect                    | used while          |  BP |

| BP (bravo points) listed is the basic cost. The price will vary with the  |
| likes of the Fata that owns a shop, and after you get the discount ticket |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+

note: when you finish the game and get an ending with a character (date or
perfect doesn't matter) the game saves this. When you start a new game after-
wards, the game will ask if you want to receive the clear bonus. if you select
yes you will get a few training items depending on who's ending you got. These
items stack, so if you get more endings you will reieve more items. However you
can only get the bonus for each character once, no matter how often you get
their ending.

thread in My Neoromance forum (link in the thank you section). Wasseryharp
posted pictures of many of the items and stat screens with their explanation
 on page 2 or 3.

5.5 the concours                                                         [GM05]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Each selection you have to play an arrangement. Based on how well you practised
it and the keywords you will receive a score. The one with the highest score
wins the selection (duh). Each selection has a theme, and the piece you play
has to match the theme. The keywords and order in which the characters will
perform can be checked in the info menu.

To win the selection you have to choose an arrangement that has two keywords
(you can check the keywords in the info menu. Keywords for the current
selection will have a orange red-ish line surrounding them) and practice all
manuscripts and the arrangement you want to play to 100. note: you only have
to practice the arrangement you want to play, but practising the others for
the same music piece seems to raise your score. If you can practice a piece to
150 this almost guarantees victory.

In later selections, you can't just choose any piece that has 2 keywords though
you have to use a music piece from that selection (ie. who's Fata you can catch
during that selection) An exception to this are arrangements with two keywords
that have 150 from the selection before the one you are in now. For the last
selection however you will have to perform one of the last 8 music pieces to
win

On the day of the concours you will be taken to the concours menu, here you can
do some last minute information checking and select the arrangement you want to
play. Once you've selected your desired music piece, you can select which
clothes and accessory to wear. Wearing the right combination can boost the
affection of the guys so use this to your advantage.

Once you've selected what you want to play and wear you will see the program
for that selection. Here you can select which performance you want to see and
which ones you want to skip. Ones you've selected this you will get to see all
the performances you set to 'watch'.

During your own performance there are several things you can see. First you see
yourself playing on stage, after this you get a close up of what you are
wearing. If you see the picture of one (or more) of the guys smiling then you
are wearing a combo they like and their affection went up. After that all
skills and keywords related to the arrangement will flash by, nothing really
interesting. When you've finished playing the two guys that like you most are
shown smiling.

note: the guy performing right after you won't be the hall, so he can't see you
and thus wearing his favourite clothing won't do anything. If you play
their favourite piece though they will hear it and this will still raise
their affection. (just as it would if they were sitting in the hall)

After everyone's performances the winners will be announced. On your way home
you may be joined by one of the guys, and they will talk a bit about the
concours and the piece you played.

To win the overall concours you have to win at least two selections, as the
person with he most victories wins. (sometimes you still don't win the
concours with 2 victories, which is probably due to the game being random, but
most of the times this will let you win anyway).  After the final selection
the overall winner is announced and you get to see the ending.

5.6  misc and other stuff                                                [GM06]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are some other small sections about the game mechanics that can be helpful
although they are not vital to the gameplay.

Lili's quiz
-----------
Sometimes when you interact with music instruments, statues, signs and other
random things Lili suddenly pops up and gives you the option to take a quiz.
The quiz has 10 questions, and if you get 5 or more right you get a prize. The
questions are about music pieces, instruments, recognising a music piece you
hear etc. All info can be found in-game. either by playing or in the dictionary

+-----------------+-------------------------------------+
| answers correct | prize                               |
+-----------------+-------------------------------------+
|  0 - 4          | nothing                             |
|  5 correct      | level 1 training tool               |
|  6 correct      | present                             |
|  7 correct      | level 2 training tool               |
|  8 correct      | location info +5                    |
|  9 correct      | unlocks one event in the memories   |
| 10 correct      | unlocks one music piece in memories |
+-----------------+-------------------------------------+

Map screen
----------
On the map screen you can select to which location you want to go. Below the
location name you see a fairy and a clipboard icon with a number besides them.
The number next to the fairy indicates how many fairies there are in that
location. If the number is zero, you've caught all fairies in that location.

The number next to the clipboard indicates how many information you've gathered
about that location, the higher the number, the higher the chance that you will
get a message at the beginning of the day saying which characters and fairies
are at that location. The limit is 10, though. You can get information by
talking to students that have a red music note attached to them, and you can
get only one piece of information about each location each day.

Since there are no people in the practice room that means that the only way to
get info about it is by getting 8 answers correct on Lili's quiz and hoping
that the info points will go to the practice room. You don't really need the
info points there though.

Talking to people
-----------------
By talking to students you can get information about the main guys, which
arrangements and what clothes they like etc. This information can be used to
fill out their profile. Not every student gives information though, a lot of
them only say 'good luck!' or something like that.

Some students also give you training items. You can get only one each day
though, so choose who you want to talk to. (you'll learn to recognise them
somehow, or not of course)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Walkthough                                                            [WA00]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This walkthrough part is already more of an extra, since how you play through
the game depends on which character you are aiming for, as well as your
personal playing style. So here I will list all set events and some general
information about each selection, but not a step by step walktrough.

6.1 first selection                                                      [WA01]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is where it all begins. In the opening sequence you see two of your
friends talking about the concours, you yourself are distracted by fairy like
creature that is flying around. When it notices you it introduces itself as
the music fair Lili and says that you will participate. aaaaaand it flies of.

Later that day in the classroom Amou comes up to you in the hope of getting an
interview, only you have no idea what she is talking about. It turns out that
you have been chosen as a participant in the music concours. You explain to
Amou that this has to be a mistake because you don't play any instrument. Amou
suggests talking to Kanazawa-sensei, who is in charge of the concours. Both of
you go to the music room to search Kanazawa-sensei, but find that there is an
argument going on between a few music department students. After they leave
Amou storms after them in the hope of an interview, leaving you alone with
Kanazawa. Who is being his usual self and doesn't feel like explaining anything
at all and leaves.

After this Lili pops up and explains to you about the different music fairies.
He also gives you a magical violin that anyone can play, so that you know have
a music instrument to use in the concours. Looks like you have no choice in
all of this and will just have to participate :P

Note:  when you've already finished the game once you can select to see the
alternate opening, which lets you skip all of this and starts you off
      with exploring.

Now that all explaining has finished, you are free to look around the school
grounds and practice. There are three locations that you can go to: the main
gate, the music room, and the practice room. You can now start catching Fata
and practising your music. To meet the other characters find them at a
location and talk to them to trigger a meeting event.

There are three music pieces for this selection, and each of them has 4 Fata,
so 12 Fata in total, although you already have 1.

You've got 7 day (7 daaaaaays) to practice, which isn't much but manageable.

At the end of the first or second day Kanazawa will approach you with the theme
and keywords for the first selection, so now you can choose which music piece
you want to play in the concours as well. There will also be a forced event
with Amou, you bump into her at the main gate. She'll explain that she want to
do an interview with a graduate (Ousaki) and that he is only at the school on
certain days.

If you ask Tsuchiura to help you when you meet him, Lili will find out about
his piano skills and force him to participate in the concours. If not you will
get an event after the first selection in which the same thing happens.

6.2 second selection                                                     [WA02]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During the second selection two new locations become available, the entrance
and the roof. The entrance is a good place to practice arrangements during the
week as there are a relatively large amount of students, and the rooftop has a
new Fata shop.

There are 3 new music pieces for this selection, each one has 6 Fata, so in
total there are 18 new Fata that you have to catch. If you catch all of them
you get the magic music stand from the Fata Shop, which greatly helps with
practising manuscripts.

On the first day Kanazawa will approach you with the new theme and Keywords.
There are no other set events for this selection, although your magic violin
will probably start acting strangely. No need to worry about it though,
not yet anyway.

Even though there are two new areas and a few more Fata, nothing much changes
from the first selection. Be sure to practice a fair amount though, as both
your overall skill level as the individual parameters will have to be at a bit
higher level to be able to play the manuscript and arrangements in the next
selection. So if you have some time left, practice some random manuscripts to
raise your skill level.

6.3 third selection                                                      [WA03]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During the third selection 3 new locations become available, the forest, the
concours hall and in the weekends the shopping street. The forest is a massive
location and usually holds lots of Fata. Catching them can be a bit tricky,
but I suggest running around the place anti-clockwise and when you've finished
running around run through the middle once. This way you should be able to
catch all of the Ferro in just 3 or 4 practice turns. Make sure you don't run
into events though. The Concours hall is much smaller, and can be run through
in just one practice turn. The shopping street is the best place to collect
Bravo Points in the whole game, plus it has a new Fata Shop that sells level
2 training tools.

There are 6 new music pieces for this selection, three of which have 6 Fata
each and three of which have 7 Fata each. So 39 new Fata in Total. Catching
them all in the first few days can be a bit of a challenge but is not that
difficult either. On the other hand you've got a sea of time to prepare for
this selection (10 days) but this is better used with practising in
preparation for the next selection. Especially raising your skills level.

If your affection with a character is high enough they might invite you out
on a date, some of them are after school but others are on saturday, resulting
in a wasted day (except for the pretty CG of course) so keep that in mind.

On the first day Kanazawa will approach you with the new theme and keywords as
usually. Somewhere during this selection you magical violin will break, and
you start using a new, and normal, violin. This means that the range of the
red line when you practice arrangements will return to almost nothing, making
it a bit difficult to collect Bravo points in the beginning. But don't worry
too much about it, it will grow larger fast enough if you practice again.

Kanazawa or Amou (or even both) will approach you to ask you to collect reports
from the other participants. Whether or not they will give them to you depends
on how high their affection is, but you can make Kanazawa and Amou happy by
just talking to everyone about it. You've got one week to talk to everyone.
If your affection is too low the characters will staight out refuse, but some-
times they doubt. To get them to do what you want answer the following:

+-------------+----------+--------------+
| character   | for Amou | for Kanazawa |
+-------------+----------+--------------+
| Tsukimori   | bow      | give up      |
| Tsuchiura   | insist   | give up      |
| Shimizu     | give up  | insist       |
| Hihara      | insist   | bow          |
| Yunoki      | give up  | insist       |
| Fuyuumi     | bow      | insist       |
+-------------+----------+--------------+

I have no idea how to translate 'tanomu' it's somewhere half between insisting
and begging. Maybe more begging. But either way, they will do what you want.

6.4 final selection                                                      [WA04]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The final selection is the hardest one of all. There are a lot more Fata to
catch, one new location, and if your guy likes you enough he will invite you
on a date on either sunday, meaning you lose an entire day of practising
You've got 11 days though (10 if you go on a date) so you should have enough
time to pick a music piece and practice it to full.

There is one new location, the sport area of the regular department. This area
is quite large and tricky to catch Fata in, so I suggest waiting until you
have the Fata radar so that you can see them on the map if possible. If not,
practice in the upper right or left corner, and then make your way through the
map in an S-route.

For this selection there are 6 new music pieces, 3 of them have 8 Fata each and
3 of them have 7 Fata each, so 45 new Fata in total. Remember that you can get
items that reduce practice time when you have collected enough Fata, so claim
your reward as soon as you have earned it.

To win the final selection, you have to play one of the last 6 music pieces.
These can be quite hard to practice, especially if you lack a few levels in
one ore more parameters. 2nd Level Training Tools work miracles though, giving
you up to 80 or 90 exp at a time if you use them. It is best to choose a piece
and work only on that, because despite the amount of days you have it can still
be tricky to get everything done.

The more a guy is in love with you, the harder it gets to win though, and if
he plays his special piece you've as good as lost, although it is possible to
win even then.

After the last concours the credits will roll while Amou interviews your love
interest. Somewhere halfway through the interview he will hear you playing Ai
no Aisatsu, and run off to find you. Enjoy your confession scene!
If Amou isn't interviewing anybody and you see Lili... you failed to get anyone
The endings for Fuyuumi and Amou are an exception though, as instead of the
usual interview they will walk up to you and talk about the concours and
your friendship (which is why you don't get Ai no Aisatsu from Lili if you are
aiming for the both of them)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Extra                                                                 [EX00]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This section will have all kinds of misc in-depth info such as item lists,
further character info, data on the music and everything else that I deem fit
to be added. check back every once in a while to see if there are updates :)

7.1 item list                                                            [EX01]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are five types of items; training tools, presents, skill books, clothing
and treasures you get from the Fata. I'll list all items with their respective
effects (if any) by catagory.

training tools
--------------
there are 14 training tools in total, meaning two for every music stat you have
one that multiplies the experience gained by 1.5 (level one item) and one that
multiplies the experience with 2.0 (level 2 item).

all of the first level items can be bought at Lili's shop, although they might
not all be availeble every day. Second level training items are availeble from
the rooftop shop and the shop near the station.

the item price depends on how much you practiced a Fata's manuscript, whether
or not you have the discount ticket and the Fata's likes or dislikes. Each
Fata likes certain items and gives a discount on them, while other items
are more expensive.

+---------------------------------------------------------------------------+

presents
--------
You can give presents to the boys and girls to raise their affection. There
are 4 different 'levels' of presents, distinguishable by their wrapping. For
each character there is one present of each level.

To give a present all you have to do is buy it and talk to them, they might not
accept it on the first try, but keep talking to them at random intervals and
eventually a present giving event should occur. You don't have to worry about
giving the wrong present to the wrong person either, you only get an option
to give a present if it is intended for that person.

The first level presents have a simple blue box with a darker blue ribbon.
The second level presents have a white box with a red ribbon on it.
the third level have a red box with a yellow ornament and a pink ribbon.
the fourth level have a blue box with lots of yellow ribbons and roses.

clothing
--------
The only times that you can choose what clothing or accessories to wear is
during your actual performances in the concours. If you pick an outfit that
someone likes you will get a nice boost in love points for that character.

There are 3 dresses, 3 hair accessories, and 3 pair of earrings. Each character
likes different combinations, sometimes they like it best when you leave out
the hair accessory or earrings.

Two of the combinations the character likes are already given on his or her
info page, but the other one you will have to find out by experimenting or
talking to students.

fata treasures
--------------
When you collect enough Fata and enter a Fata shop (any shop) you'll get a
reward. The extra training items are not that special, but the items that
reduce practice time are very very helpfull.

8. Tips and Tricks                                                       [TI00]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here you will find all kinds of tips, tricks and strategies that I have found
during my own playthroughs. If you have any of your own to add, simply mail me
and I will see if I can add it.

- Aim for one person at a time. This makes the game a lot easier. You can aim
for two if you only want the date ending, but if you miss a few events you
will still miss out on your ending, so aiming for one person might actually
 save time.

- Talk to your victim of choice at least twice every day. First when you start
your day, and if you have any time left at the end of the day talk to him
again. The chance is quite high that a new event might occur, and otherwise
you've got nothing to lose. I managed to get 3 events with 2 CGs in one day
so I'm sure someone else can too.

- If you've got time left even after talking to your main guy, go and talk to
others as well. If you get an event, you might get a dream as well. And being
able to practice an arrangement to 150 can be very helpful.

- Presents aren't really needed, but fun anyway. If you keep playing besides
the person you aim for their affection will go up enough to get them to 1000
 without giving one single present.

- But you will need to give the presents to complete the events in the memory
 section, keep that in mind.

- Items are life savers. Practising with items really helps in getting your
stats up, especially if you use second level items.

- You don't HAVE to win all the selections to win the overall concours. So you
can actually throw the idea of winning overboard for the final selection and
just focus on making sure your guy falls for you and doesn't just walk out
on you because you lack a certain stat.

- Actually, chances are high that you will win the concours even if you win
only two of the selections. You do need to win all once to unlock one of
the extra events in the memories section, though.

- If you are not sure what item is what, please go and see the walkthrough
thread in My Neoromance forum (link in the thank you section). Wasseryharp
posted pictures of many of the items and stat screens with their explanation
 on page 2 or 3.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9. FAQ                                                                   [FA00]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Questions and answers, some of these were taken from My Neoromance. If you have
any questions that are not answered it the body of the guide or here, feel free
to mail them and I will add them too.

Q: What ending did I get?
A: If you only got Lili and Kanazawa talking to you, none. If you get a CG of
on of the guys you have their date or best ending. For the Date ending you
see them... on a date. The best ending shows them playing their instrument

Q: Do all characters have 2 endings?
A: Yes, all of them. That means the girls as well.

Q: I can't play a certain manuscript/ arrangement. help.
A: One of your parameters is too low or you lack a specific skill. Use the
info menu to find out what it is and practice

Q: I can't get a certain event to happen, what now.
A: From what I have heard and seen, the game is random. very random when it
comes to events. Although the main events for each selection can only be
gotten during that selection, the game is very random in selecting which
event you get to see. Except for keep trying I can't offer much advice.

Q: What are the best locations to get Bravo Points?
A: The best place in the game is the shopping street. If you feel not enough
people are gathered in one spot, exit and re-enter and see if there is a
spot with a lot of people now. Other than the shopping street the park is
a good place. During weekdays the entrance hall and later on the concours
hall are good places to practice.
