|3 | Purpose [PRPS] |
*-------------------*
This guide will tell you how to force various rare drops by abusing the weak
random number generation method of the game.
*------------------------------------------------------*
|4 | About this Guide/Frequently Asked Questions [FAQ] |
*------------------------------------------------------*
This guide is excerpted from my main FAQ/Walkthrough in order to compile the
information in an easy to find location.
Most of the time, the equipment is not as important as the stats of the
characters, so important stats are noted. Weapons such as the Angel arrows and
Sledgehammer, which cause status affects are generally always important if the
character with them attacks.
What you do in previous battles does not affect what happens in future
battles, though if you spent too much time in a battle you may "skip" certain
battle in the sequence (this only applies to interior areas and not the
overworld).

Level Requirements :
- None!
Story Requirements :
- Must have access to Devil's Road Dungeon
- Must not have completed the Mist Cave, thus it can only be done before the
Kain's Tale segment of the main game.
Item needs and how to get the encounter :
- Have a healthy supply of Hi-potions.
- Go to the save spot in Devil's Road.
- Save and reset the game (using the Home button on the Wiimote/Controller)
- Upon reloading, immediately head to the left through the teleporter.
- Take a few steps, and you should run into an encounter with a Lilith and
2 Bloodbones.
Lilith Fight :
- Have Hooded Man or Ceodore (whoever acts first) use a hi potion on the
Lilith.
- Just attack until the 2 Bloodbones are destroyed.
- Silver Apple drops.
- Return through the transporter.
- Save game, reload, repeat until you have as many apples as you want.
At low levels (ie: low character speed), you may want to lower the battle
speed until you get use to entering the commands so that no enemies will
attack before you use the Hi-Potion, which will mess up the drop.
Total time required to get a silver apple : 1 - 2 minutes

- The 3rd Grey Coeurl Fight is the one you're looking for.

Discovered on the GameFAQs forum by Keith_Kuruzu, some additions by me.
You don't have to have that exact equipment, the stats (especially the attack
and defense multipliers are more important. Rosa should have the equipment
listed, though. Angel Arrows, Sledgehammer, and Obelisk are important.
Important Stats :
- (Attack Multiplier) : Ceodore 9x, Rosa 6x, Cid 10x
- (Defense Multiplier) : Ceodore 7x, Rosa 3x, Cid 2x
How to encounter the important fight :
- Change moon phase to Waning Moon.
- Save and reset the game (using the Home button on the Wiimote/Controller)
- Load under Waning Moon for less encounters.
- Enter the Challenge Dungeon.
- Sprint all the way to the inside of the castle. (Feel free to grab the
respawning treasure chest outside if you want)
- Run from everything except a battle with 3 MAD OGRES.
- The battle with 3 Mad Ogres should be your 7th battle, regardless of whether
or not you were attacked outside. (Waning Moon should help you avoid
fighting too much outside anyway)
- For confirmation, the battle before the Ogre battle should be a Pre-Emptive
Strike vs. 2 Coeurls and a Summoner.
- The 3 Mad Ogre battle should also be a Back Attack.
- When you get to that battle, play out the battle exactly like scripted. Just
be quick with the timing of some of your attacks.
3 Mad Ogre Fight :
- All 3 Mad Ogres attack everyone (Farthest attacks Cid, Middle attacks
Ceodore, Nearest attacks Ceodore)
- Kain attacks last Ogre with JUMP
- Middle Ogre attacks Cid
- VERY QUICKLY select Ceodore to attack Nearest Ogre because...
- ...Nearest Ogre will immediately attack Ceodore so after! Be quick here! >_<
- Ceodore attack against nearest Ogre goes off.
- Farthest Ogre attacks Rosa
- Rosa attacks Nearest Ogre
- Cid attacks Nearest Ogre (kills it)
- Kain's JUMP lands and hits Farthest Ogre (kills it)
- Ceodore attacks last Ogre
- Last Ogre attacks Ceodore
- Rosa attacks last Ogre (Confuses it)
- Let last Ogre kill himself
- Giant's Gloves drop.
Notes: So long as you select Ceodore to attack after the middle ogre attacks
Cid, but before the nearest ogre attacks Ceodore, it seems to work fine.
It is important that Kain be in the air after the three initial Ogre attacks,
and that he does not land until the nearest ogre is killed by Cid.
I have had an 11x multiplier on Kain whereas the above setup is for a 10x
multiplier, but it should still work, as the near ogre is the one that drops
the gloves in this battle.
Note that if you get the respawning chest, you will usually get a 3 Balloon
Surprise fight outside instead of the first fight listed inside.
Total time required to get the Giant's Gloves : ~5mins.

________________________/ Good Treasure - Kain's Challenge Dungeon [RNGKNCD] |
Discovered on the GameFAQs forum by squaresoft7, some additions by me
How to Trigger:
- Exit Baron
- Save and reset the game (using the Home button on the Wiimote/Controller)
- Immediately load the save
- Enter Baron, immediately dashing into the Inn.
- You should enter the Inn as the NPC closest to the entrance of the town
takes his second step. It is okay if the NPC north of the Inn also takes
a step at this time.
- Dash up to Namingway and talk to him to enter the challenge dungeon.
- You can do anything once inside, so long as you entered the Inn at the
proper time, the end treasure after defeating the Curse Dragon will be
from the 'Good Treasure' list.
Notes: Originally tested on Waning Moon, but I've found that it works on any
moon. I usually do it on Waning though and rest before the dragon to
shift to New Moon for killing it.
If you're having trouble with the timing, walking to the inn seems to
generate the right amount of time.

___________________________________/ 3 Silver Apples - Rydia's Tale [RNGRSA] |
Discovered on the GameFAQs forum by Teratron
Party Positioning and Equipment:
Any Positioning works.
- Luca : Tomahawk, Iron Shield, Horned Helmet, Horned Armor, Iron Gloves
- Rydia : Any Knife or Whip, Wizard's Hat, Mage's Robe, Silver Armlet
- Calca : Dancing Dagger, Any armors.
- Brina : Dancing Dagger, Any armors.
How to encounter the important fight :
- Go to the final save in the Sealed Cave.
- Take the north exit and dash to the rope.
- Then dash to the northwesternmost room and enter it. This room has two
chests and two exits.
- Quicksave the game.
- Reset the game (using the Home button on the Wiimote/Controller)
- Quickload.
- Run around in here and run from everything except the fifth and sixth
Lilith fights
Lilith Fight #5:
- Luca attacks either Lilith, killing it.
- Kill the remaining Lilith however you like, as long as you do it in one
action (So that you don't skip Lilith fight #6).
- Silver Apple drops.
Lilith Fight #6:
- Rydia casts Fire on either Lilith, killing it.
- Calca (or Brina) uses Dancing Dagger on the remaining Lilith
- Brina (or Calca) uses Dancing Dagger on the remaining Lilith, killing it.
- 2 Silver Apples drop.
Lilith Fight Order:
1. Back attack
2. Preemptive
3. Normal
(about 5 non-Lilith encounters)
4. Normal
5. Normal (Silver Apple drops
6. Normal (2 Silver Apples drop)
Total time required to get the 3 Silver Apples : ~5 mins.
Notes: Make sure you do a real save sometime to avoid losing your progress.
A few encounters past the third Lilith fight, you'll be surprised by a
Cait Sith and three Needlehogs. You will be surprised by four bats in
the following fight, which takes a while to run from due to Bloodfeast.
You can avoid this fight by going up the stairs to the north
immediately after the Cait Sith fight. Stay in this room until you get
a Preemptive encounter against two Cait Siths, then return to the other
room. Stay near the stairs while wandering in the northern room, as a
Surprised fight against three bats follows soon after. If you're not
able to make it back down the stairs before this encounter, switching
rooms is pointless.
In Lilith fight #6, having Luca attack a Lilith followed by using a
Hi-Potion on the remaining Lilith is an alternate method for obtaining
a Lilith Rod. This is the exact same fight as in Uiru's method, just
using this equipment setup.
If you no longer have the dolls, simply kill the second Lilith in
Lilith Fight #6 however you like. You will only get 2 Silver Apples
per run without them.
If you only have one Dancing Dagger, try giving it to Brina along with
the Clown's Clothes. She may be fast enough to get in a second Dancing
Dagger usage before the Lilith attacks.

- Save and reset the game (using the Home button on the Wiimote/Controller)

- Save and reset the game (using the Home button on the Wiimote/Controller)
- Wander around on this floor to get into fights.
- The time points will be identified by the Green Dragon encounters.
- Go through the regular progression of Green Dragons (See the green tai
drop methods)
- You can run from all encounters.
- You will know when you are on the "Back Attack" (11th Green Dragon
encounter, your situation may vary).
- Just run from it, and almost immediately afterwards you will get hit by the
12th normal encounter GD. Run from it as well.
- Then just stay motionless, in order to not get hit. This was at about time
point 0:21 from the reset. Listen to multiple loops of the cave music and
eventually the Moon changes at 0:31 from Waning Moon to New Moon.
- From this point, start trying to get into encounters.
- You'll get the following order.
1st: Ettin Snakes and Naga (Run)
2nd: Mindflayer, Cait Sith, Ogre (Fight, do drop)
- Fight this one by casting Bio on all and then attacking with Luca, to
be safe. It won't drop the summon.
3rd-7th: Trash encounters (Run)
8th or 9th encounter: Mindflayer, Cait Sith, Ogre (Surprise) (FIGHT!)
Mindflayer Group Fight :
- Enemies all attack
- Cast Bio on the whole group with Rydia
- Luca attacks the Ogre to kill it.
- Mindflayer Summon drops.
Notes: Giant's Gloves aren't really needed since Rydia kills the Mindflayer
before Luca gets to attack.

____Method 2____________________/ Mindflayer Summon - Rydia's Tale [RNGMFS2] |
Discovered on the GameFAQs forum by dethdragon, JGPJR79, ShadowSylis, kazerin,
and Moose0fWoe
Notes: This is the first method found, and it's a bit more straightforward and
less confusing, but it takes longer to do and requires Bomb.
Level Requirements :
- Both characters were level 40 (not sure if this really matters?)
Skill Requirements :
- Bomb summon.
Party Positioning and Equipment :
2 Front, 3 Back, from top to bottom
- (blank)
Luca : Gaia Hammer, Horned Helmet, Flame Mail, Giant's Gloves
Rydia : Polymorph Rod, Gold Hairpin, Black Robe, Sprint Ring
- (blank)
- (blank)
Important stat modifiers :
- Intellect : Rydia 61
How to encounter the important fight :
- Go to the final save spot in Agart Mine.
- Sleep until you get a Waning Moon.
- Save and reset the game (using the Home button on the Wiimote/Controller)
- Wander around on this floor to get into fights.
- Run from everything that isn't a Green Dragon
- For Green Dragons, use Bomb with Rydia and then Attack with Luca and then
finish it off with Luca if it doesn't die, to save MP.
- Use 4 Tents every 10 Green dragons to keep track (not strictly required)
This'll keep it as a Waning Moon.
- After the 29th Green Dragon fight, the next Mindflayer group you encounter
will be a Back Attack. This is the summon drop fight.
Mindflayer Group Fight :
- Cast Bio on the whole group with Rydia
- Luca attacks the Ogre to kill it.
- Mindflayer Summon drops.
Total time required to get Mindflayer Summon : ~50 minutes
Notes: Giant's Gloves aren't really needed since Rydia kills the Mindflayer
before Luca gets to attack.
It can be done as part of Green Tail (Method 2) farming. In that case,
go down to Green Tail section and start that method first and continue
on into farming for this summon.

- Dash north until just below the stairs
- Dash east until you can't

- Dash one square east
- Dash north until you are even with the square below Namingway.
- Dash west until you are next to Namingway
- Once you reach Namingway, the nearby man should be one space away from
Namingway's house. As soon as this man steps next to Namingway's house,
talk to Namingway. It is okay if a lady further to the south moves at the
same time. It takes about one second after reaching Namingway for this to
happen.
- Enter the dungeon by saying Yes to Namingway.
- You can do anything once inside, so long as you entered the Inn at the
proper time, the end treasure after defeating the Gobbys will be from the
'Good Treasure' list.

Notes: * I recommend you kill all normal dragon fights the same way.
* It is possible that you will skip some of the fights in the list
depending on how long you take to kill the dragons.
* Make sure your party position is correct! Normally Yang is in the
top front slot, but for this method, you need him in the bottom front
slot and Ursula in the top!
* After the Back Attack at number 10, the turn order can vary quite a
bit since there are dragon encounters packed close together. You may
end up skipping some, or splicing in some fights from the alternate
order. If you always fight the Normal fights using the method above,
you can be sure to get the Red Tail as the Red Tail fight seems to
reliably always show up.

Izayoi: Any type of arrow should work, because she never attacks the
Behemoth. Only her Defense Modifiers should matter here.
Tsukinowa: If you do not have a second Power Armlet, you can achieve the same

Defense modifier does not matter because he should never get
attacked.

- Save and reset the game (using the Home button on the Wiimote/Controller)

Sequence of Behemoths:
1. Surprise
2. Normal
3. Preemptive
4. Preemptive
5. Normal (Should be back-to back with #4)
Behemoth #5 Fight :
- Attack with all characters as their turn comes up.
Notes: I credited Biifcake and hoshe because they found that the attack order
messed up unless they gave Izayoi the Black Cowl and Zangetsu the Steel
Headplate instead of the other way around.
You'll want to do the Power Sash RNG method five times and then the
Giant's Gloves method 5 times in order to do this.
Izayoi will get the killing drop. You probably want to use Ice,
Lightning, or Angel arrows in order to do enough damage.

How to Trigger:
- Save one step outside the Lunar Face.
- Reset the game (using the Home button on the Wiimote/Controller)
- Immediately load the save and run up into the face and onto the teleporter
- From the teleporter, quickly run down two squares, right one, up three,
left one, then straight up into the dungeon proper.
- You can do anything once inside, so long as you entered at the proper time,
the end treasure after defeating Armstrong will be from the 'Good Treasure'

Notes: The exact sequence of steps isn't too important, you just need to take
a few extra ones. If you get attacked right after you enter the dungeon
then you didn't take enough steps. You should get attacked a bit over
halfway through the first room if you did this right.
This was originally found at the Waning Moon, but works on any moon
