(F)                       FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
===============================================================================
Q: Why have my weapons stopped leveling up?
A: Leveling weapons depends on the rank of the monster you are fighting. If a
  weapon stops gaining ability, then find harder enemies to fight against. You
  can not sit around and fight Goblins the whole time to level a Sword to 16.

Q: I took the airship back to Altair from Poft and now I don't have a ship to
  sail from Paloom any more. What do I do?
A: If you look on the map you will see that it is actually possible to walk
  from Paloom around the sea to Poft. Just head north and then east until you
  come around.

Q: Where is the World Map?
A: Once you have the RING, you can look at the map by pressing B + Select.

Q: Does DoS have the Select and Cancel leveling up trick that the previous
  versions had?
A: No, it does not.

Q: Where is the sound test?
A: Once you have a Clear Data File for both FF1 and FF2, you will have the
  option to press the R button at the main menu and hear the sound test for
  both games.

Q: I have Josef, where is the Snowcraft?
A: Head back to Semmit Falls. There, at the entrance, will be a blue marker
  stone. Examine the upper right corner to find a secret passage.
   -----
  |    >|    O = Blue Marker Stone
  |     |    > = The area you need to face and examine
  |  O  |
  |     |

Q: My weapons have been killing everything, but they just did 0 HP on a boss!
A: The boss/enemy has a higher physical defense then the monsters you have been
  fighting. Use magic on the boss if the weapons become useless.

Q: Maria (or other characters) do 0 HP damage every single battle. What do
  I do?
A: Maria starts the game on the back line in the formation. This means that she
  will only be able to attack with long range weapons or magic. To have her do
  damage with close range weapons, enter the menu and select formation, and
  move her to the front line with the others.

Q: I'm just walking around and some monsters just destroyed my whole team out
  of nowhere, what the heck?
A: FF2 has a way of keeping you out of areas you are not ready for. If you walk
  in an area and the monsters are super hard, then you should not be in that
  area yet. If you have to get from one place to another, hug the edge of a
  coastline or mountain range. One step away from said edge could lead to a
  difficult encounter.

Q: Why can't I put the Black Mask on the Doppelganger?
A: You did not put the White Mask on the statue in Mysidia yet. You have to
  take the White Mask and go down the stairs in the southern part of the town
  of Mysidia. There is a statue there, and when prompted select White Mask.
  Now you will be able to put the Black MAsk on the Doppelganger, and it will
  disappear.

Q: How do I get the Sunfire out of the Keep?
A: When you are in Altair and Hilda tells you to go get the Sunfire, you must
  go and speak with the King. He will tell you about the Goddess Bell. You
  will need to get the Goddess Bell from the snow cavern and then use it to
  open the door directly behind the Sunfire at Kashuan Keep. From there climb
  the tower until you find Egil's Torch. Back on the first floor use the torch
  in front of the Sunfire.

Q: Why can't I land the airship near Palamecia?
A: You have to land the ship over Palamecia. Position the ship so that if you
  were to land, you would sit on top of the castle. Press A to land and you
  should end up on the top floor. If you do not enter the castle, reposition
  the airship and try again.

Q: When do I get the airship?
A: You get it near the end of the game after you have defeated the cyclone part
  of the game. You will get the airship from Cid, in Paul's house in Fynn.
  At this point there is only about 2 or 3 dungeons left to play in the game.

Q: Why can't I warp out of the Dreadnaught?
A: The Dreadnaught is an Airship, it takes off when you enter. If you think
  you may have a problem, then save a file before entering so you can go back
  and level up that file if you run into problems.

Q: The Dreadnaught just took off from Bafsk, what do I do now?
A: Head back to Altair and speak to Hilda and then the King. They will instruct
  you to get the Sunfire from Kashuan Keep. Make sure you speak to Cid in Poft
  as you haed back to Altair, he will have you learn the word Sunfire.

Q: I'm right in front of the engine, why can't I destroy the Dreadnaught?
A: You need to rescue Hilda and Cid before you toss the Sunfire into the engine
  of the Dreadnaught. Read the Dreadnaught part of the Walkthrough to see
  where they are.

Q: When/How do I get the legendary Swords?
A: You can get Masamunes by playing the Snowfield Card Game after leveling Toad
  to 16. Read SkyRender's Snowfield Guide on this topic for more information.
  You can get another Masamune from the castle Pandaemonium, near the end of
  the game, search (ctrl+F) the walkthrough for Masamune. You get Excalibur
  once Ricard leaves your party at Palamecia. Head back to Castle Deist and
  speak to the mother.

Q: Where is the Blood Sword and why doesn't it do any damage?
A: The Blood Sword can be obtained right before heading into the cyclone. Head
  into Paul's house in Fynn BEFORE going to the Cyclone. Ask Paul about the
  Cyclone and he will tell you about a secret passage in his bedroom, the
  Blood Sword is there. The Blood Sword does damage based on an enemies'
  overall HP and strength. The more powerful the enemy, the more damage the
  Blood Sword will issue. The user also absorbs the damage the Blood Sword
  inflicts, so do not use it on Undead enemies, you will take damage. Dawn of
  Souls only has one Blood Sword, unlike the previous versions of the game.

Q: Why does Ultima do so little damage?
A: Ultima is based on the level of the spell, and the level of all other magic
  spells in the casters arsenal. If the caster has level 16 Ultima and a full
  screen of spells leveled to 16, then Ultima will do over 3000 HP a casting.

Q: If I save the Clear Data, will it be a restarted file like in FF1?
A: No. The Clear Data save will have your party start outside of the Jade
  Passage with all weapons, stats, and magic still intact.

(1)                           Quest for Mythril
===============================================================================

Start the game with whatever names you see fit. I kept the default names for
simplicity sake. Watch the nifty opening cinematic and prepare for the first
battle. Get accustomed to the turn based attack system and options and then
watch the party get destroyed.

===============================================================================
                           Rebel Stronghold (Altair)
===============================================================================

Once you awake, after being healed, leave the room, as you are by yourself. As
soon as you do you will run into two of your party members that fell in battle
with you, Maria and Gus. Catch up and walk to the throne room in the center
and most northern room. There you will meet Hilda, who decides you are too
inexperienced to join the rebellion. You persuade her to allow you to hang out
in town as you are all orphans now. She agrees, and you Learn your first word:
WILD ROSE. Turn around and Ask Hilda about WILD ROSE, and she will tell you
about the captured town of Fynn. Exit out the Throne room and go down into the
main audience chamber. Walk to the left to the first chest, which contains a
POTION. Exit the room south and you will find yourself in the town of Altair.
Altair has all the normal shops: weapon, armor, item, magic, sanctuary and Inn.
Go to the magic store and with what little money you have buy two Cure Tomes.
Teach Cure to any two characters by entering the Item Menu from the Pause Menu,
and clicking on the Tome and then the character you want to teach the spell to.
Keep in mind there is no white and black magic shops, just one shop for all
magic. Once you have done that, leave the town.

===============================================================================
                             'Leveling' Up
===============================================================================

The leveling up system in a bit different from the previous installment. The
party members no longer gain levels that translate into HP and MP. The new
system is a ranking system in which all magic, weapons, and shields start at
level 1. The max level is 16, and progress can be tracked through status bars.
Here's how it works:
To level up Strength: Attack during battle
To level up Stamina: Lose HP during battle
To level up Spirit: Cast White magic
To level up Intelligence: Cast Black Magic
To level up Magic: Lose MP during Battle
To level up Accuracy: Attack with a weapon
To level up Evasion and Agility: Be the target of Physical Attacks
To level up Magic Defense: Be the target of spells and special attacks
To level up Magic Spells: Use the spell in battle
To level up Weapons: Attack in battle (another variation below)
To level up HP: Reduce HP by half in a battle.
To level up MP: Reduce MP by half in a battle.

Outside of Altair begin battling for gil. Battle until you have enough Gil for
6 spells, 6 bucklers, an axe and a sword. Enter the town and buy these things.
(Spells should be 2 Fire, 2 Thunder and 2 Blizzard) Teach the spells to
whichever members you like. To teach a spell, enter Items and select the Tome
and then the person you want to teach it to. Exit back out of Altair. Equip all
three members with shields (bucklers) on both hands. Fight each battle until
the enemies run away, the shield levels will rapidly climb to level 10 after no
time at all. Now equip each character with one shield and one weapon, except
Maria who gets a bow. Now enter battles and attack yourself and other members
until each member's HP is half of its Max. Then kill the enemies to end the
battle. This will increase strength and HP. To level up weapons, keep all the
members equipped with two shields and 'attack' (nothing happens as there is
a shield on each hand) for about 10-15 rounds. At this point (if the enemy
hasn't escaped) reequip each character with double weapons (Firion-2 swords,
Gus-2 axes and Maria with a bow). Now end the battle. Reequip by selecting
Item and pressing up, now switch out the shields with weapons in the inventory.
The weapons will get credit for all the 'attacks' that took place in the round,
and the weapon levels will rise. As higher levels are achieved, harder enemies
will need to be fought to raise weapon levels. Some party members weapon's will
grow faster than others. If you're a magic user, cast spells on yourself in the
same manner.

Go north from Altair, over a bridge and then Northwest through a forest. You
will see the small town of Gatrea, you don't have to enter unless you must,
nothing to see there as of right now. Continue west and hug the lakeshore.
Continue following the lakeshore north and then back east again. You should now
be in front of the city of Fynn.

===============================================================================
                                    Fynn
===============================================================================

The Empire has already taken over the town of Fynn. Do not initiate any of the
Captains in this town, or you will be worked over like the opening scene of the
game. All the shops are deserted, so head for the pub. Go all the way north,
until you find a white, picket fence. Take one step north from the fence and
head east along the city wall. When the wall heads south, do the same, and you
should run right into the pub.

Enter the pub, and notice it is full of captains and a lone bartender in the
northeast corner. Walk up to the bartender and Ask him about WILD ROSE. He will
recognize you as a Rebel and inform you of a secret passage he has been hiding.
He will run off, so walk straight east to where he was standing and you will
enter a secret passage. The room has three chests, each one containing POTION.
Talk to the man and once again Ask about WILD ROSE. The man will tell you a sob
story and then give you his RING. Then he will die. Death. A common motif in
this game, as you will see, which sets up the Soul of Rebirth. Walk back out of
the pub and head back to Altair.

Now that the RING is in your permanent possession, you are able to view the
World Map whenever you are in the Overworld, just press B+Select.

Walk back around the lake and past Gatrea. Head south and back to Altair. Enter
the house right next to the Inn again, and walk straight up to the throne room.
Speak to Hilda and when prompted, select Item and then the RING. Hilda will
recognize it and decides maybe you can join the rebellion after all. Learn the
next word that the game prompts you to, MYTHRIL. Talk to the white mage who is
standing next to the princess, Minwu, the Mage who cured you at the beginning
of the game. Minwu will join your party, you will now have access to the canoe.
Talk to Hilda again and learn the word DREADNOUGHT. Turn around and Ask Hilda
about DREADNOUGHT and learn the new word, AIRSHIP. Exit the throne room and
leave Altair.

===============================================================================
                            'Leveling' Up Again
===============================================================================
There comes a time in every Final Fantasy adventure when you have to suck it up
and do the leveling, this is that time. Before I continued with the plot, my
characters all had over 2500 HP, 150 MP, and were level 10 on the weapon of
their choice. I am a leveling freak, I don't expect you to level as high as I
did. If you plan on playing Soul of Rebirth, I suggest you get Minwu that
high. When Minwu left my party (which happens soon) he had 2000+ HP, 999 MP,
and was level 10 on staff, sword and shield, not to mention a high Teleport,
here's how:

Walk outside Altair and have the three original characters attack themselves
in battle. Have Minwu cast teleport on every enemy in every battle, one at a
time. Do this until Minwu reaches Teleport Level 4. You can also enter a town
and Teleport out, but you miss out on all kinds of bonuses for the other
players, it's quick anyways. Head to Fynn and SAVE your game. Talk to a
Captain. Have each character attack with weapons or magic, your choice. When
it is Minwu's turn have him cast Teleport. If the captain kills Minwu before
his turn, do a soft reset (a+b+start+select). Captains drop some very good
stuff: Golden Armor, Flame Bows, Toad Tome, and Curse Tome. Equip these as you
get them. Golden Armor will be the best armor you will get for a long time,
give the Flame Bow to Maria, it is the best bow for a long time. Fight Captains
until you have about 6 Golden Armor, and a few Toad Tomes. Sell whatever else
you like. Do this as much as you want, if you need to heal, take the canoe
across the lake and go to the Inn in Gatrea, the head back to Fynn. Don't worry
about the cost, Captains will drop between 300-450 gil each battle. After a
while the captains will become cake, start using Minwu's SAP spell on your
party, this will 1/2 your MP, causing it to rise after the battle. Use every
one of Minwu's spells, they are all one or two castings from leveling up.

As I said before, all my characters were 2500+ HP when I went on, if you want
more of a challenge in this game, go on when your characters are around 1000 a
piece. I'd still level Minwu up higher though if you will be playing Soul of
Rebirth.

===============================================================================
                                  Paloom
===============================================================================

Head straight north of Altair until you run into a lake (not the one by Fynn).
Walk into the lake, you will turn into a canoe, and head straight east to the
town of Paloom.

There is nothing special here, as your armor will be the best possible for a
while, did I mention it is also resistant to Poison? Anyways, talk to the man
on the edge of town and he will offer you a ship to Poft for only 32 gil. Take
the offer, and walk out of town and onto the ship.

===============================================================================
                                   Poft
===============================================================================

Once again, there is not much to buy in Poft. Walk into the Pub and talk to the
man sitting at a table to the east, Cid. He will give you a ride anywhere you
want in his airship, for a price. We need to train anyways, so exit the pub
and the town. Head straight north until you reach some mountains covered in
snow, and then head straight to the west. You will run into your next town.

===============================================================================
                                Salamand
===============================================================================

From all the Captains you slaughtered, you should have plenty of gil. This town
is where you use it. Go to the magic shop and buy 1 or 2 Life spells. They are
1000 a piece, but it's the life spell. Enter the weapons shop and get Firion
and Gus the best Swords and Axes there. Stock up on potions if you like.
When you're finished head to the house towards the northeast part of town where
a woman is standing outside. Go inside and talk to Josef. Ask Josef about
MYTHRIL, he won't tell you much. If you spoke to anyone in town you will have
learned the men of the town are slaves in Semitt Falls for the Empire. Looks
like you will be freeing them.

Leave town and head straight west, you will split two mountain ranges. When you
reach a body of water, head south and take the canoe back east on the river,
this will take you right to the entrance of Semitt Falls.

===============================================================================
                             Semitt Falls Cave
===============================================================================
ITEMS: Eye Drops, Teleport Tome, Fire Tome, Hi-Potion, Potion
MONSTERS: Balloon, Goblin Guard, Goblin, Sprinter, Sasquatch, Soldier, Green
         Slime, Land Turtle
NOTE: Green Slimes are easily killed with elemental magic.

B1
Enter the cave and head left, you will notice a large blue stone near the
entrance, make a mental note, it's useless right now. When you reach the first
fork, take the left path to a chest with 200 gil. Backtrack to the fork and
head south this time along the thinner path. When given a choice, left will
take you to the next floor, and right will take you to a chest with 400 gil.

B2
When you enter this floor, head towards the north and the west corner to find a
chest with EYE DROPS. Now head to the southeast corner for a chest with
HI-POTION. Head north through the water for another POTION. Return to the
corner that had the Hi-Potion, and head east and north till you reach a wall of
doors. One leads to the next floor, all the others lead to a room with an
increased encounter rate, this will be a motif for many caves and dungeons
throughout this game. Take the left most door to the next floor.

B3
Head straight south from the entrance, and you will run into a chest with 200
gil. Now go back to the middle of this room, and cross the bridge. There is a
chest on the other side with 250 gil. Head up and to the west for more doors.
Enter the left most door again. You will now be in a room with the slaves.
Walk to the north part of the room and meet Paul, the master thief. Paul is
there with Josef's daughter. He will get out of your way, so head around and on
to the next floor.

B4
Head across the first bridge and go north on the other side. The chest has a
FIRE TOME. Head towards the next fork and head north. Cross another bridge and
just follow the path to the next floor.

B5
Head across the very long bridge to reach a TELEPORT TOME. It is guarded by a
monster, so be prepared. The monster is a Land Turtle. If your stats aren't
high enough, use Minwu's protective magic. Otherwise, use Maria's Flame Bow and
cast any Blizzard spell. Physical attacks won't work as well as the magic will.
Go all the way back across the bridge and head north. Take the left-most door
again. You should be standing in front of your first boss, save and engage.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss: Sergeant
HP: 420
Gil: 150-300
Drops: Mythril Armor or Weapons
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This boss is not weak to anything. If you fought all the Captains earlier in
the game, he will be a breeze. Use physical attacks to take him down. If you
have problems just use Minwu's protective magic and Life spells to keep the
party alive.

After the fight, open the chest, MYTHRIL. Use Minwu's or one of your members'
Teleport Spell to leave the cave. Walk back to Salamand and talk to Josef. He
will tell you everything you wanted to know before. Head back to Altair by
walking back to Poft, and taking a ship back to Paloom. If you take Cid's
airship straight back to Altair (costs 700 gil) the ship you took to Poft, will
still be at Poft, so the next time you disembark for Poft you will have to walk
all the way around to get there, instead of taking the ship from Paloom. So,
take the ship back.

===============================================================================
                                Altair
===============================================================================

Head back into the throne room, and talk to Hilda. When prompted select Item
and show her MYTHRIL. Hilda will tell you to take the Mythril to Tobul, the old
man in the weapons shop. Head for the weapons shop, and you may notice the old
man pacing to the right of the screen. Talk to him and show him the Mythril.
When he's done talking, speak to the boy on the left behind the counter. He
will now sell you Mythril Weapons. I bought a couple of Mythril Swords at 700 a
piece.

When you are done shopping, return to Hilda, and speak to her. Ask about the
Dreadnought. She will inform you of a double agent working in Bafsk, and that
is where you are to go now.

Head from Altair across the lake to Paloom. Pay the sailor to get you to Poft.
At Poft you can either walk to Bafsk, or fly to Bafsk on Cid's airship. If you
chose airship, it will only cost 100 gil, talk to the guy sitting beside Cid
in the Pub. If you are walking, just head east out of Poft, and hug the
outside edge of the mountain range. To the south is Bafsk.

===============================================================================
(2)                           DREADNOUGHT
===============================================================================
                                Bafsk
===============================================================================

The captains in this town will only complain about being worked to death,
instead of attacking you. Head for the Magic shop and buy some Ensuna, which
comes in handy later in the game. If you want to, shop around, but the Mythril
weapons you have are still top of the line. Head to the Southwest corner of the
town. You will see a captain blocking the way, that is the double agent. Ask
about the Dreadnought and he will let you pass him, and he will run off. Walk
to the hole in the ground and enter.

===============================================================================
                               Bafsk Cave
===============================================================================
ITEMS: Longbow, Longsword
MONSTERS: Soldier, Bloodsucker, Hornet, Vampire Thorn, Leg Eater, Queen Bee,
         Goblin Guard, Balloon

B1
At your first decision, head north to a LONGSWORD. Go back to the intersection
and head around the floor and head south at each of the next two forks. The
chest you find has a LONGBOW in it. The path will take you straight to the
next floor.

1F
From the stairs, head to the southeast corner of this room. Once you reach the
wall, head north and follow this path as far as it goes. It will terminate at
the Dark Knight. Talk to the Knight, and he and eventually Borghen, will mock
you and head off. A pretty cool cutscene follows. Once the Dreadnought is gone
return back inside, and head east on the path you did not explore before
talking to the Knight. The chest has the PASS. Go east for a warp point back
to Bafsk. Head back to Poft by walking North around the mountains and then
southwest.

===============================================================================
                                  Poft
===============================================================================

Talking to any local in Poft and you will learn that the Dreadnought is
destroying all the towns in the area. Enter the Pub and talk to Cid again. Ask
him about AIRSHIP. He will tell you about the SUNFIRE, the means by which
airships power themselves. Learn the word Sunfire and head back to Altair.

NOTE: If you plan on playing Soul of Rebirth and you have yet to level Minwu up
I suggest you do it now. I would fight battles until his MP reaches 999,
(using the SAP method) and raise his hand to hand levels. Minwu left my party
with level 10 hand to hand, staff, shield and sword levels. He had about 2500
HP and 999 MP. Also if you can afford to do so, equip Minwu with the best
weapons and Golden Armor you have access to. Do this before talking to Hilda in
Altair.

===============================================================================
                                 Altair
===============================================================================

Much like Poft and Paloom, Altair has also been attacked severely. Enter the
main house and walk up to the throne room. Speak to Hilda. Minwu will tell you
that he must leave the party to tend to the sick. Speak to Hilda again and
when prompted ask about the SUNFIRE.  She will tell you that the Sunfire is
kept at the Kashuan Keep, and you are to go there and retrieve it. Head out of
the throne room and take a right, go down and into the first room you see. You
will find Minwu caring for the King. Ask the King about the Sunfire. He will
tell you about the GODDESS BELL.  LEARN this term. Ask him about it and you
will learn that the bell opens the gate at Kashuan Keep. Go talk to Hilda
again. Ask Hilda about the Bell, and she will tell you it's in the snowy
peaks of the north. Time to go back and talk to Josef again. Leave the throne
room and buy any equipment you might need. The armor store now sells Mythril
armor if you want it. Take the usual path to Poft, and talk to Cid in the Pub.
Buy a ride to Salamand for 100 gil.

===============================================================================
                                Salamand
===============================================================================

Return to Josef's house, it's the one with a woman standing outside of it, in
case you have forgotten, in the northeast corner of town. Talk to Josef and ask
him about the Goddess Bell. He will tell you the only way to get to the cave
that holds said bell is to use his snowcraft. Josef will join your group. Equip
him as you see fit. If you plan on playing Soul of Rebirth, I suggest you begin
leveling Josef immediately, he will not be with you long. If you leveled
Minwu to a 2000 hp level with 999 mp, then Josef will not need much leveling. I
would level Josef at least to 1000 HP and give him some good armor and weapons.
Head back to Semitt Falls (the cave by the river from earlier).

Remember our blue stone near the entrance? Well walk up to it and past it until
you are face to face with the wall. Now turn right and walk so you are facing
the uppermost right corner. Press the A button, and Josef will reveal a secret
path. Walk to the lone chest and open it, SNOWCRAFT. Leave the cave and head
back west on the river, when you get to land, head straight north, you should
run into an opening of a snowfield. Walk on and you will ride the snoewcraft.
Drive the snowcraft all the way east, check the map, there is only one dot in
this snowy area, and that is your destination.
Note: To play a Card Match game for gil and various prizes, hold the B button
and press the A button 15-20 times. This will be more important once your
Toad spell reaches level 16, for now just mess around. Read SkyRender's
excellent FAQ on this game if you want to win easily with no losses. On to the
cave.

===============================================================================
                               Snow Cavern
===============================================================================
ITEMS: Antarctic Wind, Battle Axe, Mythril Mace, Antidote, Blizzard
      Tome, Potion(2), Mythril Spear, Mythril Shield, Ancient Sword,
      Silver Cuirass
MONSTERS: Snowman, Goblin, Goblin Guard, Balloon, Grenade, Icicle, Dead Head,
         Ghoul, Zombie, Dual Heads, Shadow
NOTE: You cannot warp out of this dungeon, so make sure your characters are
     ready. Have plenty of MP, Ethers, and potions.

B1
Follow the path around this floor. You will stumble over two chests on the way,
the first has 300 gil and the second you will find has 350 gil. The path will
end at the stairs to the next floor.

B2
There is nothing on this floor to get, yet. The door is a high encounter trap,
so ignore it, and follow the path to the stairs to the next floor.

B3
On this floor head to the west, and you should reach a chest with ANTARCTIC
WIND. This is an item that when used casts Blizzard 16 on a target. If you
want items go North, if you don't care for items go south. The north path
will take you back to the B2 floor, just an area you couldn't get to before.
The chests hold a BATTLE AXE, MYTHRIL MACE and an ANTIDOTE. When you open the
Mythril Mace chest (last one) you will be attacked by Grenades. Head back to
the intersection you started from and go south to the stairs.

B4
In this room, head up and to the west and you will find a POTION in a chest.
Go east from the chest to get a BLIZZARD TOME, teach it to someone if you
like. Go down from where you got the Tome and you will find two more chests:
one contains a POTION and the other a MYTHRIL SPEAR. Now head east of where
you came down from and head north. Ignore the door, it is another trap, and
take the stairs to the next floor.

B5
Head all the way west to reach a MYTHRIL SHIELD. From here go down until you
find the southwest corner and the ANCIENT SWORD, which is guarded. Equip the
best items as you get them, just enter Equipment and hit Optimal. The Ancient
Sword will cast curse sometimes when it hits an enemy. Now head back east
along the bottom of the room to reach the next area.

You enter a room full of Beavers. Talking to any of them will result in the
same response, so go talk to the lone beaver at the top of the screen. It will
be revealed that the slow witted Gus speaks the language of the beavers. Ask
the beaver about the Goddess Bell and he will tell you of a secret passage.
Head all the way over to the right and down a little to the corner of the
room. Walk east and you should enter a new passage.

B6
Follow this path as far as it goes. The chest along the way will have a
SILVER CUIRASS. Now you should see the monster right in front of you. Heal
the party and unequip any spears you might have, they will not penetrate
the armor of this boss. Save your game and initiate the battle.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss: Adamantoise
HP: 675
Gil: 300-750
Drops: Diamond Shield
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Adamantoise is weak to ice, keep that in mind if you really struggle.
In other words if you are getting whooped, use the Antarctic Wind you found
earlier. Do not use Thunder or Poison. Maria should be able to take the
monster out in 1 or 2 hits of the Flame Bow.

Once the monster is dead walk up to the gate it was guarding. The Goddess Bell
is right in front of you, take it. Climb the stairs that will take you back
to B1. As you try to leave you will notice Borghen blocking your way. If you
plan on playing Soul of Rebirth, I suggest you level up Josef to where you
want him and equip him how you feel. I left Josef with a little under 1000 HP.
I left him with the best armor and spears though. When you are done walking
around the cavern leveling, heal, save and talk to Borghen.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss: Borghen
HP: 240
Gil: 600
Drops: Hi-Potion, Mythril Knife
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This should not be a tough battle, despite the fact Borghen has no weaknesses.
Physical attacks should do the trick as he only has 240 HP. If you struggle,
use black magic on him and use Cure on yourself every round.

Once he falls watch the cutscene and lose another ally. If you want to depress
yourself, head back to Salamand and talk to Josef's little girl. If not, just
head to Poft by heading south of Salamand.

At this point in the game you should be getting a feel for the direction each
member is going to go weapon and magic wise. While in Poft, buy equipment and
magic as you see fit. Heal at the Inn, but save 400 gil for an airship ride.
When you are ready for that ride, talk to Cid's secretary in the Pub and pick
to go to Kashuan. Walk outside and walk onto the Airship and press A.

===============================================================================
                               Kashuan Keep
===============================================================================
ITEMS: Cure Tome, Golden Shield, Mythril Axe, Mythril Sword,
      Werebuster, Antidote, Mallet, Eye Drops, Golden Armor
MONSTERS: Balloon, Soldier, Vampire Thorn, Hornet, Leg Eater, Wererat, Shadow,
         Ghoul, Adamantoise, Ogre, Ogre Mage, Ghast, Land Turtle, Wraith,
         Zombie, Dead Head

1F
Walk straight into the keep and you will run right into the Sunfire. But you
have no way to carry it, you need Egil's Torch to carry the flame. So, walk up
to the sealed door and use the Goddess Bell, the door will open.

2F
Take the path up and you will run into a member of Kashuan Royal family,
Gordon. You may recognize him from the beginning of the game in Altair. He was
the coward standing just north of the Inn. He's still a coward as he can't
face the monsters in this castle alone, so he joins your party. Follow the
path around and it will take you to a CURE TOME. Take the path from the chest
around to the next area.

After arriving take the first path south and then head east. Follow this path
around and you will run into a chest with 500 gil. Continue on the path and
take the western most path to run right into the next set of stairs.

3F
Hang a left and follow the path it should start going south. On the right side
of the screen you will see a bunch of pillars, walk into this area. Head down
the first path that goes south. This monster protected box contains a Golden
Shield. After getting the shield go back north and continue heading east.
There will be another path heading south, take it all the way to the door.

4F
Head west from the entrance and take the first path down. You will run into an
area with two doors, the first door you see you should enter. This room has a
MYTHRIL AXE, MYTHRIL SWORD and a WEREBUSTER. Head back up the path you came on
and continue walking west. The next path down will take you to the stairs.

5F
The path in front and to the left will take you to a high encounter room. Take
the right path. Walk all the way to the east along the top to find a room with
an ANTIDOTE, MALLET and EYE DROPS. Head back west and go south when you can
into a large room. The chest in the middle of the room is GOLDEN ARMOR, which
you should have tons of already if you fought the Captains in Fynn, but open
it anyways. It's guarded by Mines, be careful if they self destruct, a weaker
party could have trouble. Head to the southwest corner of this room to reach
the stairs. Heal and Save.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss: Red Soul
HP: 540
Gil: 18-150
Drops: Nothing
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are two schools of thought on fighting the Red Soul. You can let him
pummel you with magic and heal yourself, eventually he will use all of his MP,
and become useless. Or you can simply attack while he casts his level 8 magic
on you. Whichever way you go, do not cast any black magic. The Red Soul
absorbs just about every black magic possible.

Once the Red Soul is gone, open the chest and get Egil's Torch. Use Teleport
to leave the Keep. Once outside walk right back in and straight up to the
Sunfire. Use the Item: Egil's Torch, and the Sunfire will pass to the torch for
easy transport. Walk out of the keep and observe the cutscene, it seems Cid is
in some trouble. When the scene is over walk straight south from the keep. You
should see a small circular clearing in the forest, walk into it.
It is the Chocobo Forest. Talk to any Chocobo to acquire one. Leave the
forest and the chocobo will be waiting for you, climb on and press the A
button. On a chocobo you will not have random encounters and you will move
twice as fast across land. From here run east to the bottom tip of the mountain
range, and then straight north. When you hit the shoreline, follow it all the
way northeast until you see Bafsk. From Bafsk head north and then west and then
down south to reach Poft. At Poft take the ship for hire back to Paloom and
head back to Altair.

===============================================================================
                                  Altair
===============================================================================

Go speak to Hilda and you will find her missing. So return to the King's
chambers and speak to Minwu. When prompted Ask Minwu about the Dreadnought.
Minwu will tell you that something so large would have to refuel sometime, but
he does not know where. Head out of that room and go to the open room just
below the throne room and talk to everyone there. The elder will tell you the
refueling area.

Leave Altair and head north. Pass Gatrea and Fynn and start walking in a
northwest direction. The Dreadnought is in the most northwest corner of this
continent (according to the map), the continent actually wraps around again,
but for these purposes. Stock up on as many Ethers and potions as you can
afford, you can't teleport out of the Dreadnought once you're in. If you begin
having trouble with the monsters you encounter then it may be a good idea to
stop and train. The Dreadnought is no picnic. When you reach the clearing,
save your game, you may find it too hard inside and may want a file to fall
back on to train more. When you are ready, board the giant airship.

===============================================================================
                               Dreadnought
===============================================================================
ITEMS: Sleep Blade, Potion, Hi-Potion, Dark Bow, Thief's Gloves,
      Trident, Main Gauche, Ice Shield, Giant's Helm,
MONSTERS: Balloon, Mine, Stunner, Ghast, Ghoul, Captain, Shadow, Wererat,
         Werepanther, Wraith, Magician, Soldier, Sergeant, Hill Gigas,
         Helldiver

1F
As you enter the floor you find yourself face to face with the Black Knight.
Now there are two school of thoughts here. You can show him the PASS that
you have and he'll let you by, or you can Ask WILD ROSE, which will give away
that you are a rebel and you will have to fight a tough battle. Either way,
go west and go down the stairs that are in the middle of the room. In this
room there is a chest behind bars, when you first walk into the room from the
stairs, walk east into the west wall of the cell that holds the chest. There
is a false wall and you can get the chest which holds the SLEEP BLADE,
probably one of my favorite weapons. Of course, the chest is guarded by some
monsters. Equip the blade on whatever character has a decent sword level. I
like this blade because it puts a number of monsters to sleep, including
jellies, flans and most any gigas. Head back out the way you came and take the
stairs to the north. Take a left at the top and go get the 600 gil from the
chest. Now walk back east and continue east until you can go down and then
east when you can again, follow the stairs down and back up to a door.

2F
From the start head to the first intersection and east, when you reach another
intersection head down to find a POTION and a HI-POTION. Return back to the
first intersection you came to, this time head west. Head down and follow the
first branch off to a DARK BOW. Return to the main path and continue heading
south. When you reach the end of the southern path you can go east or west.
Go west and get the THIEF'S GLOVES, then take the east path to rescue Cid and
Hilda. Now go all the way back to the last floor, when you go back up the
stairs on the first floor head south and follow this path all the way to the
next floor.

3F
Walk all the way to the Door and enter.

4F
Walk towards the center of the room and then to the right. There are four
items waiting. One will be guarded by a Gigas, if you have the Sleep Blade
equipped, like I said, it should not be a problem. Open the chests to get the
TRIDENT, MAIN GAUCHE, ICE SHIELD and a GIANT'S HELM. Head up the stairs.

5F
Take the path until you reach the Knight's room. You have to take a path that
avoids the Knights, defeating a Knight will not move him out of your way. So go
North until you reach the top of the room and then head west to the corner of
the room. From the corner go south until you see a knight blocking a path to
the right near the bottom corner of the room. Take a right directly before
that path. Then go south and head east. You should be walking along the bottom
of the room. In the southeast corner you will be blocked again, head north
right before you get to that knight and then take the first right. Head north
now against the far east wall of the room. Take the third left and pass
another intersection. At the next intersection head south then east, then south
then west, you should be able to see the stairs by now.

Now you should come upon the giant engine of the Dreadnought. Walk up to the
engine and toss in the item Sunfire. A Black Knight approaches and Maria
somehow recognizes the voice. Watch the scene as everyone high tails it out of
there onto Cid's airship. Back in Altair heal the group up and do any shopping
you see fit. Uneqip Gordon before the next chapter, he will be leaving soon.

===============================================================================
(3)                            KING'S QUESTS
===============================================================================
Walk into the King's chambers outside the main throne room. The King beckons
Firion near, and gives three quests, one to Firion, one to Gordon and one to
Minwu. Firion is to go to Deist and find some allies to fight the Empire. Then
the King dies. Head to the throne room and speak to the newly appointed
Gordon. Learn the term DRAGOON when prompted. Then Ask about the Dragoons, and
you will be prompted with another word, WYVERN. Ask about the Wyvern and he
will tell you about Deist. Head to Paloom the way you have many times before.
As soon as you enter the town you will notice a woman standing next to your
usual sailor friend. Talk to the woman and she will tell you her name is Leila
and she will give you a free lift to Deist, how convenient. Exit the town and
head towards the eastern shore for the second ship.

Once on the ship you will find that Leila is actually a pirate and wants all
your equipment. You will now fight her eight pirate henchmen, who look very
well fed. Once the battle is won, Leila will give you power of the ship, so you
let her join your party. You now have a permanent ship that can go anywhere on
the seas. But now you actually have to steer to get to Deist. So bring up the
World Map (B+Select) and look for a small island in the northeast corner of
the map. It's the only piece of land not connected to the main continents,
sail to that island and land on the east side of the island. Walk west into the
Castle in the middle of the island.

===============================================================================
                               Castle Deist
===============================================================================

Enter the castle and talk to the boy blocking your way, he will run off. Go to
the next floor and talk to the boy again. Again, he will run off. Advance to
the next floor. Go to the left and open the chest to get a COTTAGE. Now walk
all the way east to the stairs. Head down at the intersection and enter the
second door you see. The room contains a CURSE TOME, STOP TOME, and a STUN
TOME. Continue on walking down this hall and you will get a UNICORN'S HORN.
Return back to the intersection you went down and head west. Go through the
door to get a GOLD NEEDLE, EYE DROPS, ANTIDOTE, SAGE'S WISDOM, CROSS, SAINT'S
SPIRIT, MALLET and the WING SWORD. Equip the Wing Sword on your fighter with
the Sleep Blade (duel wielding). Head all the way back to the first floor and
head down past that kid you saw earlier. Take the final stairs to a PHOENIX
DOWN. Now head back to the woman and her son and speak to the mother. Ask the
woman about the Dragoons and then about the Wyvern. She tells you that you
cannot communicate with the Wyvern unless you have a special pendant, which
is in a cave to the north. Leave the castle and go straight north to the only
other location on this island.

===============================================================================
                          Deist Cavern (1st Run)
===============================================================================
ITEMS: Pendant
MONSTERS: Hill Gigas

To the east is a chest with 230 gil in it. Continue down the path that is
behind the chest to the next floor. There around the neck of a dead Dragoon is
the Pendant. Leave the cave and go back to the Castle.

Back in the castle, enter the room behind the mother and the boy. Walk up to
the giant Wyvern and Ask about the Wyvern. The Wyvern tells you that he is the
last Wyvern alive in the world, but there is hope, he will give you the last
WYVERN EGG. He tells you the egg must be put in the life spring in the bottom
of the Deist Cavern for the egg to survive. The Wyvern then dies. Talk to him
again and he will resurrect and then die over and over again. Head back to the
cavern.

===============================================================================
                          Deist Cavern (2nd Run)
===============================================================================
ITEMS: Ether, Flame Bow, Sage's Wisdom, Saint's Spirit, Knight's Armor, Mythril
      Helm, Mythril Armor, Mage's Staff, Mythril Gloves, Mythril Mirror,
      Mythirl Shield, Acid Phial
MONSTERS: Hill Gigas, Shadow, Wraith, Ghast, Ghoul, Stalactite, Ogre Mage,
         Ogre, Yellow Soul, Ogre Chief, Revenant, Dual Heads, Adamantoise,
         Green Soul
NOTE: There are two paths in this cavern, both will take you all the way
through the cave, the western path will take you to items. Only the eastern
path will take you to the Life Spring.

B1
Choose the path you want to follow Eastern(spring) or Western(items). You can
do both if you like, start with the Western most path if you're doing both.

WESTERN PATH
B2
Get the ETHER on the way to the next floor.

B3
Walk the path to the end and head to the next floor.

B4
Just keep following the pathway and head for the stairs. The branching path
will not lead you anywhere.

B5
Follow this path all the way to the end where you will reach a room instead of
stairs. The chests contain a FLAME BLOW, SAGE'S WISDOM, SAINT'S SPIRIT and a
KNIGHT'S ARMOR. The Knight's Armor will be guarded by an Adamantoise. Now that
you've reached the bottom, use a Teleport spell to take you back outside the
cave. Reenter the cave and take the eastern path.

EASTERN PATH
B2
At the intersection head down. You will find a MYTHRIL HELM. Head back to the
intersection and go north to the MYTHRIL ARMOR. Take the final branch you
haven't gone down yet and you will pass the stairs to the next floor. Continue
down this path and you will have to either go north or south. Head south to
get the MAGE'S STAFF. The staff is guarded by some Green Souls, which heal
your party as you fight them. So if you want to completely heal the party,
don't attack the creatures and they will continue to cast Cure on you. When
you're all healed up head back to the stairs you saw earlier.

B3
On this floor go straight north for two more chests: MYTHRIL GLOVES and a
MYTHRIL MIRROR. Do not cross the bridge, you fall into a place you do not want
to be. Head back to the floor you just came from and head to the intersection
that would take you to the Mage's Staff but head north this time to the real
stairs.

Now you are on the other side of the bridge. Pick up the MYTHRIL SHIELD and
scale the cliff to the north. Do not cross the bridge unless you want to go
back the way you came. Head to the next floor.

B4
The stairs to the next floor are right in front of you on the path, get the
ACID PHIAL near the top of the screen before you continue.

B5
The second door from the right is the door you want. Heal and save.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss: Chimera
HP: 700 each
Gil: 450-900
Drops: None
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Chimera's have a high attack damage which can cause about 100-250 damage
to a character. The beasts will also cast Blaze on your party. Hit the
monsters with strong physical attacks. If you are in danger, have your
designated white mage cast life and cure. Make sure you cast Wall at the
beginning of the battle in order to protect the party from Blaze.

Walk to the spring and put the Wyvern Egg in the water. Teleport out and return
to the Castle Deist if you want. If not head back to Altair.

===============================================================================
(4)                           SAVE THE PRINCESS
===============================================================================
                                  Altair
===============================================================================

Return to Altair and heal and save up. Sell any equipment that you do not want
as you will start to accrue quite a bit on junk you don't need. Enter the main
chamber that is just below the throne room and talk to the people in the room.
They will tell you that Hilda has been acting a bit odd lately. Go to Hilda's
room. It is the room just south of the King's room. Before you walk in, unequip
Leila. Talk to Hilda and she will ask to be alone with Firion. She beckons you
to the bed and then morphs into a Lamia Queen.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss: LAMIA QUEEN
HP: 1290
Gil: 15000
Drops: Diamond Cuirass, Protect ring, Gold Hairpin, Sage's Wisdom, Ribbon
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This battle can be either really quick or really drawn out, I've witnessed
both. If you have the Sleep Blade, I suggest you use it on her as soon as
possible. With her asleep, you can pummel her with physical attacks. If she
uses Blink on herself before you hit or you do not have access to Sleep, then
go for the Black Magic, it is going to take a while though. Her physical
attacks are pretty stout, so just bring people back to life, as she will only
attack one person at a time.

After the battle is done, Gordon and his men run in after the fact, and
announce they have just got news that the tournament in Palamecia is giving
Hilda as the grand prize. Gordon will join your party and Leila will be kicked
out of the group. Palamecia is the cluster of two dots that are south of the
Chocobo Forest. They are the dots that border a gigantic desert. Sail the ship
to the western coast and walk across the desert to the town.

===============================================================================
                                Palamecia
===============================================================================

Walk up into the Coliseum. The gates are slammed shut and a giant beast is let
out of a cage, seems like a trap was set for you and Hilda was the bait.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss: BEHEMOTH
HP: 2000
Gil: none
Drops: none
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He uses physical attacks that can do more than 300 hp of damage. However, his
defense is not that strong. Hit him with physical attacks and he will be done.
If you still have the Sleep Blade, use it, he will go to sleep, and then you
can unload with the physical attacks.

After the battle, Firion and company try to confront the Emperor, who
disappears and has you surrounded by four guards.

===============================================================================
                                Coliseum
===============================================================================
ITEMS: Antidote, Ether, Elixir, Cottage
MONSTERS: Stalagmite, Magician, Revenant, Specter, Parasite

Now you are in a holding cell underneath the Coliseum. Good thing your buddy
Paul is down here and up to no good. He lets you out of your cell and you're
free to explore again.

B2
Head down the right path to a dead end with a chest. The chest is guarded, and
contains an ANTIDOTE. Head back to where you came from and go north and then go
east. Keep going east until you reach another dead end with a door. Head in
there and find an ETHER, ELIXIR and a COTTAGE. Head out of this room and up to
the northeast part of the room, the stairs will take you up a floor.

B1
Walk all the way east along the top of the cells and make note of where you see
Hilda. Head south and around to the gate that is keeping her in. Unequip Gordon
if you gave him anything good. Press A on the gate to have it spring open and
free Hilda. Gordon will run off to help her escape. Head west to the stairs
that will lead you out of here.

Walk straight out of the Coliseum and leave this place. Head west back over the
desert to your ship, which you left on the western coast of the continent.
Sail back to Altair.

Altair is empty. Speak to the rebel guard near the entrance, the only guy in
town, and he will tell you the rebellion is preparing to attack from a camp
just south of Fynn. Head north out of Altair and go towards Gatrea. From Gatrea
head west over the bridge, you should see a campsite.

Inside the campsite, walk up to Gordon and Hilda. Speak to Gordon and he will
give you your order. You are to infiltrate the Castle of Fynn and kill the
Commander of the Imperial Troops, while the rebel forces attack. Enter the town
of Fynn and heal up. When you are ready walk out of town and into the castle.

===============================================================================
                                Fynn Castle
===============================================================================
ITEMS: Break Tome, Death Tome, Toad Tome, Aura Tome, Werebane, Potion,
      Titan's Gloves
MONSTERS: Captain, Chimera, Dead Head, Devil Bloom, Ghast, Revenant, Sergeant,
         Magician, Specter, Stunner, Wraith
NOTE: You can do this the hard way or you can do this the easy way. The hard
way is to infiltrate each floor and search out the items, all the while being
attacked by random encounters. The easy way is to run straight ahead through
each floor, you should reach the Commander without a single random encounter.
Once you defeat him, all the random battles in this castle disappear and you
can collect the chests at you leisure.

Walk up to the castle and you will run into Leila. Equip her how you see fit,
then head into the castle.

1F
These rooms are pretty simplistic. The northeast corner has two chests, one
with 2000 gil and one with 1000 gil. Head straight west and find another chest
with 1000 gil. Now head left and go south in the hallway to a stairwell. Walk
this path through this floor to the next. On the third floor hang a right and
follow the skinny hall around. You will find a BREAK TOME, DEATH TOME and a
TOAD TOME. Head back to the main chamber on the first floor.

2F
Enter the second floor and head left. There are three partitions here. The one
right above you has an AURA TOME. Head to the partition right below the
last one and walk through the wall in the upper left corner. Head north and you
will reach the WEREBANE. Head back out of the secret passage and go over to the
right side of the castle, it is set up the same way. The middle chest has a
POTION, and it is guarded. This is making up for the fact that you may have
already eliminated the random encounters by beating the commander. Stand on the
right side of the chest and walk to the right. Go south in this secret passage
to find the TITAN'S GLOVES. Head back to the middle of the room and take the
stairs.

3F
There are no items on this floor, keep heading up the stairs.

4F
This is the throne room, you will visit it a lot more in the future. Right now
you need to heal and save and approach the commander who is sitting on the
right throne.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss: GOTTOS
HP: 2000
Gil: 1200-3000
Drops: Bacchus's Wine, Ripper, Haste Tome
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once again, equip the Sleep Blade on a fighter and have at it. My Sleep Blade
was doing about 1600 damage to this guy per hit, and I was duel wielding.
Gottos seems more worried about casting supplemental magic on himself, that
there is a chance he may not even attack you. His physical attacks aren't bad
anyways. Put him to sleep if you must then put him away with physical attacks.

Once he is dead the random encounters will stop as I mentioned before. Now is
the time to get all those items if you have not yet done so. When you are
done item hunting, return to the throne room and talk to Hilda. You need to
learn the word MYSIDIA and use it to learn the word MASK, and use that to learn
the word EKMET TELOESS. When you are done turn to Gordon and do the same, you
can learn all the previous words from him, but you will also Learn ULTIMA TOME.
Head back out to the town of Fynn once you have learned these four words, make
sure to have all four.

===============================================================================
(5)                       MASKS AND THE CRYSTAL ROD
===============================================================================
                                  Fynn
===============================================================================

The city is now liberated, so go hit up all those stores you couldn't before.
The armor store carries a whole line of Golden Armor now. Buy what you want and
sell off what you do not need anymore. Head to the southwest of the town to
Paul's house. Ask him about Ekmet Teloess, he will tell you about a secret
passage he found in the Fynn Castle. Head to the throne room of Fynn Castle.
Walk to the northeastern most corner of the room and face east and press A.
You should get prompted, select Item and the words Ekmet Teloess. You will say
the words and you can now walk forward into the secret passage.

===============================================================================
                             Fynn Castle Dungeon
===============================================================================
ITEMS: Gold Shield, Golden Mail, Gold Cuirass, Knife, Clothes, Eye Drops,
      Potion(2), Maiden's Kiss, Hi-Potion, Flame Shield, Spider's Silk,
      Power Staff, Flame Armor, Betrayl Fang, Orichalum
MONSTERS: Green Soul, Wraith, Ghast, Revenant, Stunner, Stalagmite, Parasite,
         Changer, Brain, Killer Mntis, Adamantoise, Ogre Mage, Ogre Chief,
         Rhyos

Start going down the stairs in the secret passage room. You will get all the
way to the first floor, at this point start trying to walk through the east
wall. You will find yourself standing outside the castle wall, don't walk too
far out or you will have to go all the way back through the castle. Go down a
bit and walk back into the eastern wall. You will find a Rebel and a door to a
secret room. The room has a GOLD SHIELD, GOLDEN MAIL, and a GOLD CUIRASS.
Equip them if they are the best you have. Go back and continue down the stairs.

B1
Head down and to the east to find a KNIFE. Head back to where you came in and
head west and then north and the keep heading to the west for some EYE DROPS.
Head back but go to the northeast to find a chest with CLOTHES in it and the
stairs to the next floor.

B2
Go in a clockwise motion here. Get the POTION in the hallway when you first get
to the floor and head west to get another POTION. Then head north to get a
MAIDEN'S KISS, and then head east to go to the stairs to the next floor.

B3
Do the same as you did in the last floor. Head for the southeast corner and get
the HI-POTION. Then head west again to the other corner for the FLAME SHIELD.
Head straight north to the next corner for a SPIDER'S SILK and the stairs to
the next floor.

B4
In this room there is a path for every direction, but we only need three. The
first is to head north and then to the right for the first chest, which is
guarded, it contains a POWER STAFF. Return back to the focal point of the room
and take the northeast branch to find some FLAME ARMOR. Go back to the center
and take the southeast branch. This path will take you to a chest with the
BETRAYL FANG in it and the stairs to the next floor.

B5
Exit the stairs and head through the water until you reach the third hallway on
the right side of the screen. In this hallway you will find an ORICHALUM in a
chest that is guarded by a Rhyos. Head up and to the right corner of the room
and you will find doors again. Take the door that is second from the right. In
front of you is what you came here for, the WHITE MASK. Walk to the north and
teleport out of this dungeon.

Head back into the castle and talk to Hilda again. She will talk of the town of
Mysidia, well southwest of Altair. To get there board the ship and sail through
the opening that is south of Altair, heading west. Land on the northern edge of
the continent that is south of Altair. Walk to the south west between the
mountain ranges and down to the town of Mysidia.

===============================================================================
                                Mysidia
===============================================================================

This town is run by a bunch of Black Mages. The stores here are pretty good if
you are in the market for weapons of magic. The magic shop has five mages and
twenty spells to choose from, so get what you might have missed earlier in the
game. Get the best weapons you can from the weapon store.

In the southern area of the town there is a staircase that heads underground.
Head down and walk up to the statue. When prompted, select to use the White
Mask. The mask will float and fuse onto the face of the statue. Heal up and
leave this town. Head back to your ship and open the World Map. On the map you
should see a lone dot in the middle of the sea all by itself. Get there any way
possible.

===============================================================================
                             Tropical Island
===============================================================================
ITEMS: Eye Drops, Hi-Potion, Ether, Spider's Silk, Sleepgrass(3),
      Spider's Silk, Scourge Tome(2), Blind Tome(2), Garlic, Phoenix Down,
      Gaia Drum, Death Idol, Sleep Tome
MONSTERS: Yellow Jelly, Red Mousse, Wererat, Stunner, Dual Heads, Dual Deads,
         Poison Toad, Shadow, Wraith, Ghoul, Ghast, Wild Horn

B1
Walk to the first chest, EYE DROPS. Take the northern path first. It will take
you to areas that have two chests. Both of the chests are HI-POTIONS. Go back
and take the path south to get an ETHER. Head back and take the southwest path
to get a SPIDER'S SILK. Head north from here to reach the stairs.

B2
Head north from the stairs and to west you will find a chest with SLEEPGRASS.
Take the stairs to another chest with SPIDER'S SILK. Keep following this path
and you will eventually run into an area full with natives. Talk to the right
ones and they will sell you weapons and armor. When you are finished return
back to B2. Walk the path to the east of the Sleepgrass, which will take you
to a SCOURGE TOME, SCOURGE TOME, and a BLIND TOME. Head down and to the right
to get another BLIND TOME. Now head north to go to the next floor.

B3
The south path will yield a GARLIC, the north path will have stairs to the next
floor

B4
Go south when you enter the floor and you will run into some stairs. Take them
up to get a chest with a PHOENIX DOWN. Return to the fourth floor and head to
the east to another set of stairs. Take them down to the fifth floor, where you
will find three chests: GAIA DRUM, SLEEPGRASS and SLEEPGRASS. Head back to the
fourth floor again. Walk all the way back to the stairs you first came in on
and head north and to the west to another set of stairs. Take the stairs down
to the fifth floor and a DEATH IDOL. Return back to the fourth floor and walk
straight east, where you will trip over a chest with 1000 gil. Keep going east
and these stairs will take you to the next floor.

B5
Walk the path until you reach the SLEEP TOME. From here head for the southwest
corner of the room, and you should see a door. In front of you will be a Big
Horn. Heal and save for the battle.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss: BIG HORN
HP: 1140 each
Gil: 750-1500
Drops: None
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This boss has a very low defense, so just attack with weapons. They are pretty
much like any normal enemy you would be encountering in a dungeon at your
current levels.

Open the chest once the battle is done to get the BLACK MASK. Take the warp
portal behind it to leave the cavern. Once outside, board the ship and bring
up the world map. The next destination is the dot in the middle of the
southwestern continent. So head north from the tropical island to the S-shaped
canal, and then head west towards Altair. Stop in Altair if you want to use an
Inn and heal up. Now pass through the canal south of Altair and park the ship
where it was when you went to Mysidia (northern part of the southern continent)
Now head south through the forest and west past the mountains until you get to
the cave in the middle of the continent.

===============================================================================
                             Mysidian Cave
===============================================================================
ITEMS: Gold Hairpin, Black Garb, Power Staff, Flame Lance, Ice Bow, Ogrekiller,
      Potion(2), Phoenix Down, Bell of Silence, Gold Needle, Drain Tome(2),
      Hi-Potion(2), Ether, Mini Tome, Osmose Tome
MONSTERS: Black Flan, Flying Ray, Brain, Cockatrice, Specter, Ghast, Wraith,
         Specter, Revenant, Malboro, Parasite, Changer, Bomb, Red Mousse,
         Yellow Soul, Red Soul, Yellow jelly, Ghost, Rhyos, Death Flower

B1
When you enter head to the left and take the partition stairs up. Head west
along the top and go down some stairs to a chest that has a GOLD HAIRPIN. Head
back to the main path that runs north and south. Head down it and walk to the
right where you will find little partitions with a chest in one of them,
containing a BLACK GARB. Head back to the long path and head all the way south
until it dead ends. Take a left and go down the stairs you see. Walk back east
and you will run into a Doppelganger. He won't budge so use the Item Black
Mask on him, and he will disappear.

B2
Head up and then at the top head east. There will be POWER STAFF in an opening
near you. Head back up and notice the chest that is blocked from you by a wall.
Start testing the wall for a fake place to walk through and walk to the chest.
The chest holds a FLAME LANCE. Now head back to where you came in. Head down
and to the west. The door out of here is a little southwest of the initial
stairs you walked in on.

B3
Heap up and then towards the left. The chest is again behind a fake wall. Just
keep trying the wall near the chest and you will find it. The chest has an ICE
BOW, equip it on Maria. Head to the southeast corner of the room now. You will
find a set of stairs in the southeast corner so go down them to a chest. The
chest has an OGREKILLER, and is guarded. Head all the way west and pass the
first door you see. Follow the same path to the north and go in the second door
you run across.

B4
Take the path and climb the stairs to the top partition. The first chest you
will run across is a POTION. Head to the north and you will see some doors.
Enter the middle door for a PHOENIX DOWN, BELL OF SILENCE, and a GOLD NEEDLE.
Continue on to the southeast corner of the room for the stairs down.

B5
Get the DRAIN TOME from the chest in front of you. Head south to find the
stairs to the upper partition. Head east on the skinny path and start checking
the western wall for yet another fake wall. Once inside the wall get the five
chests: POTION, HI-POTION, ETHER, Hi-POTION, and a MINI TOME. Walk back through
the fake wall and head north. Head as far as you can to the west and then go as
far down as possible, until you reach the stairs and go down them. Head west
and follow the path to the north for the door. The door has three chests: DRAIN
TOME, OSMOSE TOME, and the CRYSTAL ROD. Warp out of the dungeon back to the
surface.

===============================================================================
(6)                         THE MYSIDIAN TOWER
===============================================================================

Head back to your ship at the north of the continent and open the World Map.
Locate where you are on the map, and then look north in the sea for a crescent
shaped outcropping with an island in the middle of it. That is where the
Mysidain Tower is. Go to Altair or Mysidia and heal up the party first. Then
take the ship to the south part of the crescent ridge and head north into the
opening. You are swallowed by Leviathan, the protector of the Mysidian Tower.
Any traveler that has a Crystal Rod and tries to pass gets swallowed up by the
beast.

===============================================================================
                                Leviathan
===============================================================================
ITEMS: Headband, Power Vest, Power Armlet, Gaia Blade, Diamond Shield
MONSTERS: Sea Dragon, Bolt Fish, Red Soul, Flying Ray

1F
It looks as if you are in the Leviathan's intestines. Follow the path around
and get the HEADBAND and the POWER VEST. The stairs are right in front of you
on the path.

2F
Walk to the left and you will find someone blocking your way. When prompted,
show him the Crystal Rod. Ricard, one of the legendary Dragoons, will join
your party once he sees the Crystal Rod. Head straight up from where you were
standing for a POWER ARMLET. Go back and continue heading west and up.

3F
Head to the north of this room until you find the GAIA BLADE, equip it on
Firion or Ricard if you want. Head straight south from where you found the
blade and you will find a guarded chest with a DIAMOND SHIELD in it. Walk to
the west and up a little and you will see a gigantic worm thing. The object
behind it is your ship. Heal up, equip Ricard with lances or swords and save.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss: ROUNDWORM
HP: 2500
Gil: 2250-3000
Drops: None
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The monster does decent damage, but shouldn't be too much of a problem at this
point. The dungeon wasn't long enough for your party to get torn up, so just go
at it with the newly acquired Gaia Sword and other physical attacks. 2500 HP
shouldn't take too long to deplete. You can also use supplemental magic like
Aura and Blink to make the battle go smoother if you have trouble.

Get back on your ship. If you need to heal up then head back to Altair. Your
destination is directly in front of you, but it is a long tower with many
floors and monsters. When you're ready, land in front of the tower and enter.

===============================================================================
                              Mysidian Tower
===============================================================================
ITEMS: Staff(2), Ether, White Robe, Flame Bow, Flame Lance, Flame Shield,
      Flame Sword, Flame Helm, Flame Armor, Ice Shield, Ice Lance, Ice Gloves,
      Ice Armor, Ice Brand, Elixir, Wizard's Staff, Spider's Silk, Hermes'
      Shoes, Unicorn Horn, Flame Tome, Hourglass, Cross, Black Robe
MONSTERS: Werewolf, Bomb, Hill Gigas, Flying Ray, Big Horn, Black Flan, Red
         Soul, Ghost, Killer Mantis, Vampire Girl, Basilisk, Imp, Devil's
         Bloom, Chimera, Death Flower, Specter, Revenant, Ghast, Wraith, Red
         Mousse
NOTE: Before heading into this tower it helps to have double Masamune's
     equipped on Ricard. To get a Masamune, you need to level up Toad to 16
     and play the Snow Field mini game without any misses. SkyRender's FAQ on
     the mini game will teach you how. It's not mandatory, but it is extremely
     helpful in this tower. If you feel overwhelmed in this dungeon, then I
     suggest you warp out and heal up and try again, or level up some more
     before heading back in.

1F
Like the cave the tower will have chests behind some fake walls. The first
floor is a prime example. Head up and to the left for a STAFF and then head all
the way to the east corner for another STAFF. Now that you're on the east side
head south a bit till you find the chest with an ETHER in it. Now you may have
noticed a chest behind a wall on your way to the ether. Start testing the wall
that is west of that chest for a fake spot and get the WHITE ROBE. The stairs
to the next floor are in the very center of this room.

2F
This floor is easy to direct because the paths are all defined, six easy
choices and you start in the middle. Take the northeast branch and enter the
room at the end. Inside you will find a FLAME BOW, which you should have tons
of and a FLAME LANCE, which you can Equip on Ricard if you like. Head back to
the center and take the southwest path this time. This path dead ends at
another path that runs north and south. Go north first to get the FLAME SHIELD.
Then turn around and take the south path to the next set of stairs.

3F
Head through the left most door and you will find yourself standing in lava.
Start going east and you will pass a landing with stairs, keep going past it
and head north a little to find a chest with a FLAME SWORD in it. Head back to
the landing you just passed and head up the stairs. At the top of the stairs is
a door, but there is a chest on both the left and right sides. Leave the path
and walk into the lava on each side, you will find a FLAME HELM and FLAME
ARMOR. Head back to the path and enter the door. You will be facing a black
mage, do not talk to him until you have healed and saved. I suggest you equip
Ice Bows and Swords if you have them. Do not have the Flame Sword you just
found equipped.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss: FIRE GIGAS
HP: 1800
GIL: 900-1500
Drops: Flame Sword, Flame Armor, Confuse Tome
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He's a fire gigas, so use the opposite element, ice. Hit him with the Ice Bows,
Ice Swords, and if you never used Antarctic Wind, use it here. Cast any
Blizzard spell you might have. Ogrekiller, the axe, will also work well on the
brute. It's going to take some physical attacks to take him down. If you are
having a lot of trouble with this guy, you may want to go level up, as he is
the easiest of the three Gigas creatures you will fight in this tower.

When you have won the battle, head up to the next floor.

4F
Head up and to the left and you will run into a chest with the ICE SHIELD.
Below you there should be some stairs, take them to another floor for another
item. The encounter rate starts to increase to a ridiculous amount on this
path. I was attacked almost every other step. If you want step on the ice
spikes, you will take 1 hp damage but will not have encounters. The dead end
has an ICE LANCE waiting for you. Head back to the floor you were just on and
go down, this path will take you to the stairs to the next floor, and on the
path are a couple of chests: ICE GLOVES and ICE ARMOR.

5F
Follow the path around, again if you would rather take damage instead of a
random encounter then walk on the ice spikes as you go. Along the way you will
find a chest with the ICE BRAND in it. Heal up and save at the end of the path,
and approach the black mage when you are ready.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss: ICE GIGAS
HP: 2000
Gil: 900-1500
Drops: Ice Brand, Antarctic Wind, Stop Tome
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Use the opposite element you used on the last gigas. Equip your characters with
Flame Swords, Flame Bows and use fire or Flare on the beast. Have Gus wielding
the Ogrekiller axes if you have them. Physical attacks are good. Worst case
scenario, pull out the Sleep Blade again and put him to sleep.

6F
When you enter the floor take the right path and get the chest with the ELIXIR
in it. Now head back the way you came and look for the path that goes straight
south. Take that path down and to the left of the room to find a WIZARD'S
STAFF. Keep walking down and to the west and take the final door you come
across. It will take you to stairs to the next floor.

7F
From the entrance head to the right for the first item, the SPIDER'S SILK.
From this chest head up to the corner above you to find the HERMES' SHOES.
Turn around from this corner and head straight west about halfway point across
the room you will find a UNICORN HORN. Keep walking on your current path and
pick the farthest door in the northwest corner of the room. Heal up and save.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss: THUNDER GIGAS
HP: 2500
Gil: 1200-1500
Drops: Wizard Staff, Black Robe, Confuse Tome, Flare Tome
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This guy is a lot tougher then his little brothers. He has no elemental
weakness. You can hit him with Poison if you like, but that might take too
long and his physical attacks are pretty hefty. His punch can take a few
hundred off a character and his boulder attack can do over 300 as well. Have
Gus attack with those Ogrekiller axes, and Haste him while you're at it. His
thunder magic isn't too much to worry about. If you are having troubles just
do an all out physical assault with every member and as they die, use Life to
revive them, he only attacks one person at a time, even with his thunder
spells.

8F
Take a right out of the entrance and head north. You will pass openings on
your right, there are four in all. Take the hall at the very top and get the
Devil Bloom guarded FLARE TOME. Head back down to the path right below the one
you took to reach a door to the next floor.

9F
On this floor head up for a HOURGLASS. Head down and to the left until you
reach the corner and you will find a CROSS. You will see some partition stairs,
so take them up. Over in the corner is another chest, however, I suggest you
heal and save before opening it. It contains a White Dragon, with about as much
HP as the last boss you faced. Try to get this battle over as quick as
possible. Use physical attacks, and if you are getting whooped, I hope you have
a lot of MP or ethers to refill it, because you will need to heal your crew in
battle. The chest has a BLACK ROBE. Once you have it, follow the path to the
end and take the second door from the left to the next floor.

10F
You walk up and find Minwu, the white mage you leveled up at the begging of the
game trying to finish his task of finding the Ultima Magic. After a quick talk
Minwu successfully blows the door open, at a price. Head into the chamber and
you should find one orb in the middle of the room surrounded by 4 other orbs.
Walk around the room and touch each of the four orbs first. Each one will give
a stat boost to one of your characters (strength, agility, etc.) I could tell
you which orb gives which so you could plan it out, but it's random and it
really isn't that big a boost for this late in the game. Once your done walk up
to the gold orb in the middle of the room, and receive the Ultimate Magic.
NOTE: Ultima is a magic that is based on the casters magic arsenal. Ultima
will not do a great amount of damage unless it is leveled high and all the
other magic in the caster's arsenal are leveled high. So if you have Ultima to
level 16 and you have a full screen of magic all leveled to 16, then Ultima
will be doing a couple thousand damage per round or better (spirit is also a
factor). I suggest you level up someone's magic when you level up toad, if you
haven't begun that fiasco yet.

===============================================================================
(7)                         IMPERIAL TREACHERY
===============================================================================

Get back in your ship and sail to Altair to heal up at the Inn. When you get
there you will notice something different, you can no longer enter the town. It
has been destroyed. The same goes for Paloom, Poft and Gatrea. It seems some
new treachery is about and is finishing the job the Dreadnaught had started.
Head to Fynn, and you will find that it is one of the few southern towns yet to
be destroyed. You will notice right to the north of the Fynn Castle is a
gigantic Cyclone.

===============================================================================
                              Fynn Castle
===============================================================================

Run up to the throne room and speak to Hilda. She will tell you that a Cyclone
has destroyed all those towns. Learn the word CYCLONE when you are prompted.
While you are here, Ask Hilda about the Wyvern again. She will tell you about
a special mirror that has ties to the Pendant you found in Deist. Walk out of
the throne room and head for the first floor of the castle. Go west to the path
that runs up and down on the left side of the castle. Head down and you will
see some stairs. Take the stairs to the third floor and there you can go up to
find a door. Head into the room and you should see a giant mirror, can't miss
it. Walk up to the mirror and press A. You will be prompted, so select Item and
the Pendant. You will see a cutscene where the last Wyvern is reunited with
Ricard, the last Dragoon. The Wyvern will now be in your inventory to use.

Leave the castle and enter the town of Fynn.
       !!!!!!I CANNOT STRESS THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS STEP!!!!!!
Go talk to Paul in the southwest corner of the town of Fynn. When prompted, Ask
about the Cyclone. Paul will decide to help you out by giving you some items.
Head to his bed and walk into the east wall to find a room with eight chests.
They contain: BLACK GARB, THIEF's GLOVES, ELIXIR, SILVER CUIRASS, RUBY CUIRASS,
GOLD CUIRASS, GOLD HAIRPIN and a BLOOD SWORD. Equip the party with the optimal
armor and go sell your previous mail at a shop. Buy 99 ethers if you can afford
it from the items shop. Do not think of selling the Blood Sword. It may seem
useless against weak enemies, but its damage is based on the overall HP of the
enemy you face. So if you were to face the final boss of the game with a sword
that did more damage the more HP the enemy had, what do you think will happen?
Did I mention it also absorbs HP for you to heal yourself as you wield it? Heal
up and save and then head outside and north of Fynn. All you have to do is walk
up to the cyclone and the Wyvern will automatically sweep you up and take you
into the heart of the storm.

===============================================================================
                                CYCLONE
===============================================================================
ITEMS: Ripper, Poison Axe, Diamond Gloves, Diamond Helm, Defender, Diamond
      Armor, Wind Flute
MONSTERS: Wood Golem, Royal Guard, Devil's Bloom, Gottos, Vampire Girl, Vampire
         Lady, Cockatrice, General, Wizard, Lamia, Captain

1F
There are two stairs here, one in the upper right corner and one in the upper
left corner. The items are in the upper right corner, so head there first. On
the next floor you will find the RIPPER. Keep following the path to the next
floor and you will find a room with charged floors. Cross the floor to the
other side for the POISON AXE. Equip this axe on Gus, if he has a high Axe
level. Many of the monsters in this dungeon drop Poison Axe, you will have a
few in no time. Make sure Gus is dual wielding these axes. Once you have the
axe head all the way back to the original floor and take the stairs that are on
the opposite side of the room.

2F
Follow this path around, and it will take you to the next floor.

3F
The first stairs you come across will take you to some inaccesible parts of the
next floor for some items. Take the stairs and head northeast side of the room
for some DIAMOND GLOVES, and head to the opposite northern corner for a DIAMOND
HELM. Head back down to the third floor and continue on the main path. Take the
next stairs you see to the fourth floor.

4F
Head east to find a set of dual stairs. Take the left stairs up and on this
floor head around and south. Do not go through the charged floor, it's a decoy.
Head south and around and you will reach two chests: one with a DEFENDER and a
General guarded chest that contains DIAMOND ARMOR. Head back to the previous
floor and take the stairs to the right.

5F
Follow the main path around to the stairs.

6F
Take the path north and then head to the east. You should run right into a
chest and some stairs. Heal and save before you open the chest. Equip Firion or
Ricard with the Blood Sword and then open the chest. The battle is with a Green
Dragon, which has 3000 HP and would have been a tough battle had you not had
the Blood Sword. Let loose with the sword and witness its power on stronger
foes. The sword should be doing over 1500 HP of damage. Making a potentially
long battle, only 2-3 rounds. If the Blood Sword is too cheap for you, or you
did not get it, then use Thunder, the Dragons only weakness. The chest holds
a WIND FLUTE. Take the stairs up.

7F
Nothing to this room but a boss fight.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss: EMPEROR
HP: 3000
Gil: 15000
Drops: Elixir, Eye Drops, Phoenix Down, Cottage, Diamond Armor, Defender
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This isn't a straight up battle with the Emperor. He will make you fight a wave
of four Royal Guards, and then another wave, and then when you reach him you
will have to fight a front line Wood Golem, two more Royal Guards, and the
Emperor will be standing on the back line. The Guards should be simple so let's
focus on the last wave. Take the Wood Golem out with the Blood Sword or the
Poison Axes. Once he's done have Maria hit the Emperor with the best bow you
have, and concentrate the rest on the two guards. When the guards are gone,
unleash the physical attacks on the Emperor. He won't do much standing on the
back row, until everyone in front of him is gone. Use this to your advantage.
Hit him a few times with magic or bows, before the guards are gone. That way
you can take off some HP before unleashing the physical attacks on him.

The Emperor flashes and tells you he cannot die. You are warped back to Fynn.

===============================================================================
                                  Fynn
===============================================================================

You return to the throne room and everyone dances. This is the funniest thing
you will see in the game. Fortunately, a bloodied soldier comes in and tells
the party that Leon has declared himself the new Emperor. Now that the party
has been crashed, talk to Hilda and she tells you to go to Palamecia Castle.
You may have seen it before, the castle in the mountains just north of the
Coliseum. There's no way in though. Talk to Leila, and she will tell you that
Paul snuck into that place all the time. So head out of the castle and go to
Paul's house in the southwest corner of Fynn.

Talk to Paul, and the guy won't tell you anything. He has a houseguest though,
Cid. Go talk to Cid and he'll shuffle off to bed to rest. By rest, I mean he
dies right there. Before going though, he tells you that you can captain his
airship, but he expects it back.

Head back to your boat and sail to Poft. Cid's airship is parked there. Stand
on top of it and press the A button. You can now fly at about 4 times the speed
that you could walk out.

If you plan on playing Soul of Rebirth, I suggest you go level Toad to 16, if
you have not done so yet. I'd take the airship to the area just south of the
entrance to the snowfield. Here I'd equip Gus and Ricard with shields and do
the weapon level trick. I would start/continue leveling up the magic of whoever
has the Ultima. Cast all the spells in their arsenal over and over, while at
the same time whoever has Toad, cast it over and over until the MP runs out. On
lower levels you can cast toad 3 or 4 times a battle and then win out. When you
reach level 12-15, you are going to have to use the characters entire MP
supply before leaving the battle. My Firion had Toad and about 300 MP at this
time. Casting Toad every round will fill the bar about half way. By the time
I got to 400 MP and level 15 Toad, it was still only filling half way per
battle. Be patient. During this time attack Ricard to get his HP up. I had
Ricard at over 2000 HP by the time I headed on with the story.

Once you have Toad to level 16, enter the snowfield on the craft and Hold B
down and press A 10-15 times. You will enter the matching card game. Read
SkyRender's excellent guide on this area. Simplest concept is to write down the
location of all the cards on your first game. Then when it prompts you to play
again select yes and then cancel out of that match game. Do NOT cancel out of
the entire game itself, just the match you are playing. Do this 31 times. The
32nd game will be the exact order you wrote down, because the card sets are in
order of 32 sets. Flip the cards without any misses and you will receive some
Gil, but more importantly the Masamune. Skip 31 games again and get another, I
got about 6 of them. Exit the snowfield, and Equip Ricard and Firion with the
Masamunes. You are now ready to head on with the plot.

Head to the Coliseum where you rescued Hilda and fought the Behemoth in the
Arena. There is a large castle in the middle of a mountain range. The only way
to get in is to land on the top floor. So, fly the airship over the top of the
castle and press A to land. If you do not land in the castle the first time,
move the ship closer or farther away until you are entered into the top floor.

===============================================================================
                            Castle Palamecia
===============================================================================
ITEMS: Diamond Cuirass, Hourglass, Garlic, Ether, Buckler, Thunder Spear,
      Sleepgrass, Saint's Spirit, Mage's Staff, Healing Staff, Wizard's Staff,
      Sun Blade, Elixirs(3), Wind Flute, Hellfire
MONSTERS: Eyemoeba, Vampire Girl, Killer Mantis, Devil's Bloom, Skull, Wood
         Golem, Black Knight, General, Stone Golem, Gottos, Cockatrice,
         Flying Ray, Imperial Shadow, Death Flower, Coeurl, Captain, Lamia,
         Lamia Queen

7F
Walk up the crest on the wall and you will plummet down to the first floor,
through a trap door.

1F
Head south for the first item of the castle, a DIAMOND CUIRASS. Head back north
to where you were and head east. You will see one path and then another. Go
down the second path to some stairs that will take you to a HOURGLASS. Get the
GARLIC out of the chest in the southwest corner and take the second set of
stairs to the next floor.

2F
Head south to a chest that holds some ETHER. Then take the path that will take
you around the entire room. Before you reach the next stairs open the chest for
a BUCKLER.

3F
Head north from the entrance and follow it west and then south, until you have
walked to the southwest corner of the room. Here you will find a chest guarded
by an Imperial Shadow (Shadow of the Emperor). The chest has a THUNDER SPEAR.
Now take the path all the way north, then hang a right, and eventually head
down and you will reach the stairs that are in the southeast corner.

4F
There are two chests nearby. Head right and down and you should get both of
them. One contains a SLEEPGRASS, and the other a SAINT'S SPIRIT. Now head to
the left side of the room and you will come to an intersection. Go left and you
will find a room with three chests: MAGE'S STAFF, HEALING STAFF, and a WIZARD'S
STAFF. Head back to the intersection and take the right path to the stairs.

5F
Head west and follow the path through some stairs to the next floor. Head down
until you reach a chest that holds the SUN BLADE. It is guarded by Lamia Queen
and some Coeurls. Don't head back yet. Follow the path around to more stairs.
Follow the path on this floor to a room with THREE ELIXIRS. Head all the way
back to the fifth floor and go down where you chose to keep heading west. You
will eventually come to the stairs.

6F
Walk this path to the next floor.

7F
Head straight north to get to the next floor.

8F
Coming from the east, ignore the huge throne room in front of you to the north.
Instead, keep walking west and you will find the final two chests of this
castle: WIND FLUTE and a HELLFIRE.
For those of you who will be playing Soul of Rebirth, I suggest you get Ricard
situated how you want him. I left him with over 2400 HP, 150 MP and had him
equipped with double Masamune (I got 6 for a reason), Flame Helm, Black Garb
and a Power Armlet. If you don't want him to have your Masamune then give him
something else. For God Sake do not have him equipped with the Blood Sword.
When you are ready go up and talk to Leon, who is mad with power.

The real Emperor comes back from hell, looking a little like Yojimbo. He strips
Leon of his power and summons his strength to kill everyone in the room in
one swoop. Ricard jumps out and blocks the hellish magic, while at the same
time summoning the Wyvern. The Wyvern swoops through and picks up the rest of
the party while Ricard Highwind, the final Dragoon, holds the Emperor off.

The party is dropped off at Fynn Castle, and Hilda wants to be brought up to
speed. Leon joins the party. Exit the castle and go get on the Airship again.
Head all the way back to the Deist Castle. If you don't remember, it is the
castle on the small island in the northeast corner of the map. Enter the castle
and talk to the Mother. Ask her about the Dragoons. Seeing as the entire people
have been destroyed, she gives you their most sacred treasure, EXCALIBUR.
Which is a let down, because as it turns out the Masamunes you already have are
better, as will be the Blood Sword in the final battle.

(8)                        PASSAGE and PANDAEMONIUM
===============================================================================

Head to any shop left in the world, and get whatever items, weapons, or armor
that you feel you need. I suggest buying 99 Ethers, 99 Potions and Hi Potions,
and as many Elixirs as you can with the money left over (I got about 20).

You can head back to Fynn and ask Hilda what to do and she will give you the
term Jade Passage, but you don't have to if you don't want to. If you do talk
to Hilda, Learn Jade Passage and then ask Gordon and Leila about where it is.
They will tell you what I'm about to. The passage is the small circular pond
that is on the eastern tip of the continent that has Mysidia on it (southwest
continent). The area where you had to snake the ship through if you wanted to
go one sea to another, it's on the land that makes up the left outcropping of
that canal. Head there in the airship and land next to it. Plunge in when you
are ready.

===============================================================================
                               Jade Passage
===============================================================================
ITEMS: Diamond Mace, Hellfire(2), Antarctic Wind, Cat Claws, Rune Axe,
      Betrayl Fang, Aegis Shield, Dragon Armor, Holy Lance, Yoichi's Bow,
      Hi-Potion, Protect Ring, Elixir
MONSTERS: Hecteyes, Salamander, Chimera Sphinx, Abyss Worm, Great Malboro, Blue
         Dragon, King Behemoth, Ice Lizard, Pit Fiend, Red Dragon, Mega
         Parasite, Vampire Lady, Killer Mantis
NOTE: Most of the monsters in this cave are going to attack every party member
     at once, this means, unless you have leveled up Leon, he is going to be
     dead for  most of this journey. It is not worth continually wasting MP
     on reviving him, so don't if you are able to handle the monsters with
     only the three characters. An easier way to keep him alive if you must
     is to utilize the Healing Staff during battle, it can be used over and
     over and does not cost you any MP.

B1
Get in the water and head towards the east. The northern path you see is the
one you want to follow around and down a little to a DIAMOND MACE. Head back
the way you came until you hit the west wall. Head straight south until you
reach the chest with HELLFIRE in it. From this chest head east out of the
bottom of the clearing until you reach the door, which will take you to the
next floor.

B2
Exit the stairs and head straight up. Cross the water and still going up is a
chest with a HELLFIRE in it. Head out of this alcove and to the east, head
south just a tad and you should see the next chest, open it for an ANTARCTIC
WIND. Head south until you run into another chest. Before opening this, save.
The CAT CLAWS are guarded by a Blue Dragon, who has 3500 HP. He was not a
problem for my party who has Firion equipped with double Masamunes. He casts
Thunderbolt 16, which shouldn't do too much damage. He can be poisoned. Head
from that chest to the right, and continue to the right until you hit the
east-most wall, head straight north and through the door.

B3
Take the path down and across the waterfalls and back up and then back down
again. You should see a chest near the southeast corner when you get there. Go
up the stairs there to get the chest which has a RUNE AXE. The chest is guarded
by the King Behemoth. This guy has a pretty powerful punch, doing physical
attacks well over 1000 HP. He has a weak defense though, so hit him with
physical attacks and his 5000 HP will decrease quickly. Follow the path to the
west through more waterfalls, and down and back east again. You will reach
three doors, take the far right one to the next floor. NOTE: There is a secret
shop beneath the waterfall. Head to the right of the waterfalls when you are in
the water at the very bottom, and head up and behind the falling water on the
right side. Press A and you will be prompted by a hidden shop, where you can
buy and sell things like at a normal items shop.

B4
Head north until you see a chest with a BETRAYL FANG in it. From this chest
keep heading north and then a little east to find a door. Go in to find
DRAGON ARMOR, AEGIS SHIELD, and a HOLY LANCE. Leave the room and head east
along the top of the room, you will find another chest. This one is guarded by
a Red Dragon, so Heal and save your party before opening. The chest contains
YOICHI'S BOW. The Red Dragon has 5000 HP like his brothers, but he has 30 more
defense points (180), which makes him tough without the Blood Sword. I switched
from my Masamune, in mid battle, to the Blood Sword when fighting him. His
physical attacks can cause over 1500 HP a hit, so be prepared to heal. The Red
Dragon is weak to Ice if you have leveled up your Blizzard spells. Equip the
bow on your archer if you don't already have one, it's the best bow you will
find yet. Head straight south after the battle and enter the only door you see.

B5
The path here is very skinny and winds around a gorge. Pick up the items as you
follow it around. You should find a HI-POTION, PROTECT RING, and an ELIXIR.
Keep on the trail till it runs into the door to the next floor.

B6
Take the path across and then all the way up to the portal out of here.

===============================================================================
                              Pandaemonium
===============================================================================
ITEMS: Ether, Elixir, Genji Gloves, Masamune, Genji Helm, Genji Armor, Ribbon,
      Sage's Wisdom, Acid Phial, Hellfire
MONSTERS: Mythril Golem, Lamia Queen, Death Rider, Mantis Devil, Coeurl, Lamia,
         Beast Demon, Devil's Bloom, Devil Wolf, Ice Lizard, Fire Gigas,
         Tiamat, Zombie Borghen, Beelzebub, Astaroth, Bomb, Thunder Gigas,
         Blue Dragon, King Behemoth, Ice Gigas
NOTE: Beware the Death Riders, they can destroy pretty much any character in
     two hits. They took my 9000 HP Firion out with back to back 4500 HP hits.
     When approached with the Double Death Rider and Golem party, kill the
     Death Riders first, they will harm you way more than the Golem. When they
     are finished take out the Golem.
     Also, the Lamia Queen drops Ribbon around here. So if you feel like being
     immune to status effects, walk around and fight them until they drop
     them. I got one the first fight with a Lamia Queen.

1F
Walk south from the portal and walk east along the very bottom of this platform
until you are forced to head north. Take the long stairs up and then follow the
path to the eventual stairs to the next floor.

2F
Head down and then up some stairs. Keep heading north until you reach the chest
with ETHER in it. Now continue south to a new set of stairs and follow the path
to the portal.

3F
Head straight south and then east a little to find an ELIXIR in a chest. Head
back to where you came in and go up the stairs and head east. Go down and head
east, go down the eastern most steps and then head down and go east again. Do
this until you see the next portal, it is in the southeast corner of the room.

4F
Head up and to the left. You can see the next portal but ahead of you are four
doors. If you want to go straight to the next portal then head through the
second door from the right. The other doors lead to items and equipment. From
left to right the doors will be numbered 1-4.

Door 1
Start heading under arches. Do not go up any stairs. Go under the first four
arches that are along your path and you should be standing in front of some
stairs right next to an arch. Take the stairs up to the GENJI GLOVES. The box
is protected by Zombie Borghen, who is about as easy dead as he was alive. Make
sure you are not using the Blood Sword on the undead though. Use the Masamunes.
Speaking of which, head back down the stairs and go through the arch next to
the stairs. Follow the path under four more arches till you come to a room with
a statue in the middle. Walk to the bottom right corner of this room and walk
into a secret room with a chest that holds a MASAMUNE. Head back out the way
you came in (through 8 or 9 arches).

Door 2
In this room head through the arch, up a couple of stairs and then through a
few more arches until you reach a room with a chest that contains GENJI HELM.
The box however is guarded by Tiamat. Equip the Blood Sword for this one, and
bring Leon back to life if he's been dead for a while. Sometimes it's nice to
have a target for a physical attack that you don't care about. Tiamat has 5000
HP and absorbs all the elements, so don't use magic. Pound away with all the
new equipment you have, including the Masamunes. Use the Blood Sword for a
quick victory (about 2 rounds). When you are finished backtrack the way you
came in.

Door 4
Head to the right and follow the stairs straight up to the top of the room. The
chest contains GENJI ARMOR, but like the others, is also guarded. This time by
Beelzebub. Do not use ice or fire on this thing. Hack away with physical
attacks until he dies. He has 5000 HP like most everyone in this area, and he
will use level 16 Fire on you that shouldn't do too much damage to a single
party member. Keep hacking away with the Masamunes and heal with the Healing
Staff if needed. Once he's gone, head back the way you came in. Make sure
someone is equipped with the Genji Materials (or spread it around if you like).

Door 3
Make your way through this floor, there is only one path. It winds through
arches and stairs, just keep moving till you reach the end. The chest you
stumble across contains a RIBBON. It is guarded by Astaroth. Blood Sword works
wonders here. Her magic attacks are not a problem, she will use Drain, Fire and
Scourge, which don't do but a few hundred damage. When she physically hits you
though, it will be for half your HP and she absorbs the HP to heal herself. My
Blood Sword was hitting her for 3000 HP in return. Have the Life or Phoenix
Down ready in order to revive fallen party members, but they should only go
down one at a time, so it shouldn't be too bad. If you don't have the Blood
Sword, but you did level Toad up to 16, use it, trust me. When she's dead
continue the way you were going. When you come to a branch, head down the left
side to the portal.

4F
Head north and then all the way to the left until you reach the portal.

7F
Head to the left a few steps and then north to a chest with a SAGE'S WISDOM.
From there head west again and then up the stairs. Then head east amongst the
pillars and then straight down and then west again until you reach the portal.

8F
Head north from where you begin and take the skinny stairs to the far left up
until you reach a chest with an ACID PHIAL. Head back to where you entered the
floor and head east along the bottom of the room. The chest in the corner has
a HELLFIRE. From this chest head north up the stairs and bare towards the east
when choosing a stair to climb. Head all the way north until you find the
portal.

9F
Head south and then walk west along the bottom of the room. The portal is in
the bottom left corner.

10F
Walk straight up and heal your party, equip them how you like and max out the
MP. Walk up to the Emperor and engage for a fight.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss: EMPEROR
HP: 15000
Gil: none
Drops: none
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Emperor has a strong physical attacks that turns into HP that he absorbs.
He can hit a party member for over 4000 HP. He will use Stop and other
supplemental magic to slow you down and help him out. The obvious tactic is to
have Firion or Leon wielding the Blood Sword. With the Blood Sword the Emperor
will be dead in one or two rounds, very anticlimactic. The Emperor absorbs
Death and Matter, and is resistant to all elemental magic. He also has no
weaknesses. If you want to take him on without the Blood Sword, I suggest you
equip Firion with Double Masamune, have a healer with the Healing Staff. You
can still win the battle pretty easily, as the Emperor tends to waste turns
by casting Slow, and Curse, which don't do much to your party at this point.
Heal the person he attacks physically and throw Wall on your party. Cast Ultima
with the Mage when they are not healing. He should go down in about 20 rounds.

The game ends and Hilda and Gordon congratulate you, as do most of the people
you came across on your journey. You see the spirits of the dead fourth members
cheering you on. A text ending over scenes of the airship and several towns
follows. After the credits the game will ask for you to Save Game Clear Data.
You must do this in order to play Soul of Rebirth. Your save file will have
your party standing outside the Jade Passage. You can complete the Bestiary if
you want.
