I) History
17th November 2007 -
Started the guide. Laid it all out and started and finished the Z
Trial and Option sections as well as the Legal Stuff, the
Introduction, the Contact Details and the Controls. Also did some
work on the Trivia section.
18th November 2007 -
Started and completed the Profile Card option. Also started and
completed the Boosters section.
19th November 2007 –
Added a few unlockables in the Unlockables section. I also started
the Characters and their Movesets section. Added another bit of
trivia.
20th November 2007 –
Finished off the button inputs for the characters in the Characters
and their movesets section. Submitted the first version of the FAQ to
GameFAQs!

Hiya! Sorry for the wait boys and girls, I’ve had way too much to do!
What with getting Budokai Tenkaichi 3 a little earlier this year and
Christmas fast approaching. Bloody Christmas, I’ve got nothing for
anybody and nothing done! Why didn’t anybody tell me it was on the
25th this year?? Anyways, I added the before battle speeches and
endings for Goku, Teen Gohan, Gohan, Future Gohan, Vegeta, Trunks and
Future Trunks in Arcade Mode. I also detailed Chapter 1 in the Story
Mode aaaaaaand I added a few other little things around the guide.

Um... eh... hehe. Did some more on the main walkthrough.

Chapter 2 is completed! I also finished off the rest of the Booster
list, filling in the 3 missing slots. I added one more piece of
trivia in the Trivia section and touched up and corrected many little
parts of the guide. I also messed around with the Goku moveset,
trying to find a suitable layout for it for when/if I put the various
damages for each character and transformation. I also added Cell’s
Arcade Mode dialogue.
15th March 2010 –
Sorry for the wait guys and gals, there’s been too much stuff to sort
out. I’ve also been doing some serious training with this game and
have become much, much better with Sword Trunks! Anyways, I *fully*
finished chapter 2 and started out of chapter 3. I added a new
section; the Hints and Tips section! I also fixed some spelling
errors that I noticed.

Hi there. How you doing? Good? Good. Okay, so I’ve noticed that there
isn’t an FAQ for Shin Budokai 2 on GameFAQs and the game has been out
now for quite some time. Maybe somebody is secretly doing one right
now, I really don’t know.
Anyways, Shin Budokai 2 is of course the sequel to Shin Budokai, the
very first Dragonball Z game released for the PSP system. Its
gameplay is essentially the same as its bigger brother, but with some
alterations and tweaks. It features a brand new story mode which
focuses on Majin Buu being resurrected in Future Trunks’ timeline.
I know this won’t be the best guide for this game ever, but I just
wanted there to be at least one of THESE FAQs for Shin Budokai 2.
Also, if you read my Shin Budokai Trunks FAQ then you’ll remember I
put that I wanted to try other guides. I will do my best to make this
an in depth guide. I was a little hesitant to make this FAQ at first,
but I sort of just gave myself a slap in the face, told myself to try
something different and got on with it.
Please remember that this is my first time writing a guide like this,
so be nice!!

Okay, firstly we’ll get the controls down:
In battle commands -
Square – Rush Attack (light attack)
Triangle – Slam Attack (heavy attack)
X – Guard/Cancel
Circle – Ki blast
L button – Power-up Ki energy
R button – Aura Burst
Square (during Aura Burst) – Crash Attack
Triangle (during Aura Burst) – Guard Break Attack
Square + X – Throw
Forward + Circle – 1st special attack
Backward + Circle – 2nd special attack
Up + Circle – Ultimate move
Down + Circle – Transform (if your chosen character has a
transformation)
Towards your opponent + X – Teleport (time this with the enemy’s
attack

Okay, there are seven things to choose from here. They are:

1) Another Road
This is the story mode of Shin Budokai 2. This time, instead of just
fighting, you now fly around a world map. Quite similar to Budokai
3’s Dragon Universe story mode, but without the freedom. The graphics
also suck to high heaven. Anyway, lets conquer it shall we?

Chapter 1
=========
Okay, the only thing you can do here is press the X button to start
the adventure. As you progress through the story mode, the other
squares will become available to you and you can play them whenever
you want.
Press that X button and away we go!

In another future...
Goku suffered and died of a heart condition,
and Earth’s strongest defenders fell at the
hands of the androids
It is a world overcome
with despair...
This world’s lone surviving warrior, Trunks,

with the androids and Cell,
he grew stronger...
And now, with both the past
and future restored to
their original peace.
The great cities have been rebuilt, and a
number of years later, the World Martial
Arts Tournament is held once again.

Future Trunks – The World Martial Arts Tournament, huh? I’ve been
waiting a long time for this... I know I’m going to enter, but I
don’t think I’m gonna tell Mom. It’s kinda embarrassing when she
shows up to cheer me on, and heck, I have to enter! I’ve been pretty
out of shape from all this working. Man, people are going to love
this. It’s hard to believe the androids were once here. Wow. Is it
time already? The finals are starting. I’d better get moving.
Future Bulma – Oh, Trunks. You never were good at hiding things. He
didn’t even mention the tournament to me when he left. He probably
thinks it’d be embarrassing to have me watching. Yep. That’s my son!
But he sure does work hard – at his job and with the rebuilding of
the town. I bet his father would say something like “This tournament
is just a silly game!” Urgh... it’s just like back in the day, when
Goku and Vegeta were fighting. Even though I’m not in the crowd... I
can still cheer him on!
Announcer – Ladies and Gentlemen it’s been a LONG time! Welcome to
the World Martial Arts Tournament!
Future Bulma – Go for it, TRUNKS!!!
Future Trunks – MOM! What’re you doing here?! Urgh... She always
seems to find out... Well, I guess I’d better give her a good show!

Kibito – So, you must be Trunks. Show me what you can do as a Super
Saiyan!
Future Trunks – What?! What’re you talking about...?
Kibito – I need to know if you can really help us. I’ll tell you the
details after you become a Super Saiyan.
Future Trunks - ...Okay, if that’s what you want. You already seem to
know about Super Saiyans. So while usually I’d prefer not to do it
here... I’ll make an exception. HAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Babidi – Aha! There you are!
Dabura – Hm? What’s this? He seems to have an impressive energy.
Shall we steal it, Master Babidi?
Babidi – Yes... I want to resurrect Buu as soon as possible. I’ll
wait here, and you can do the rest, Dabura.
Shin and Kibito were surprised and pleased by Trunks’ strength.
But Dabura came and began stealing the energy of the tournament
fighters...
Realising this, Trunks went to fight Dabura, but...
Future Trunks – What?
Shin – Trunks, don’t go!
Future Trunks – M... My body won’t... move! What’s wrong with me?!
You’re with them!
Shin – Calm down, Trunks! We’re on your side! You mustn’t fight him
now! Don’t fight him! Let’s go Kibito!
Future Trunks – Wh... Where are you going?! Let go of me!
Babidi – Hmph. Looks like someone’s trying to interfere. The Supreme
Kai! And he’s running away... No fun at all.
Dabura – Hahaha! You won’t get away!
Dabura began destroying the city to lure out Trunks.
Seeing this, Trunks broke free, only to have his energy drained by
Dabura.
Dabura – This power is incredible! This boy’s pretty good. Are there
more like him?
Babidi – I’ve never heard of any such fighters. Let’s have a peek at
his memories!
Dabura – Very interesting...
Babidi saw Trunks’ memories of the past, the time machine, Senzu
beans...
Babidi – Oh my! This is most interesting!
Dabura – If we can get them to come here, their energy will let us
bring back Buu!
Babidi – Heh heh heh. Fascinating. We’ll retreat for the moment.
Let’s go, Dabura!

great danger!
Future Trunks – Who are you anyway? I’m not the one who let them out!
Don’t stop me!
Shin - ......Fine. But please be careful. Kibito!
Kibito – Hmph! ...There. Your power if back to normal.
Future Trunks – Its... true... My power is back. Thank you, Kibito,
and...?
Kibito – He is the master of all the Kai – the Supreme Kai!
Shin – Kibito, never mind. Just call me Shin.
Future Trunks – Thank you, Shin. All right! I’ll catch up with him
soon!
OKAY!! Here’s where the fun begins! You’ll be brought to the
Customisation Screen. You’ll find yourself at this screen before
every single world map section of the Story Mode. Press the Triangle
button and King Kai will pop up to tell you about customising and
boosters. (Of course, you could just read my section of Boosters in
the guide.
King Kai – Let me explain about the Booster screen and Customize,
okay? Here you can assign your Boosters to slots to increase your
power. One character has 9 slots, so you can set 9 Boosters at a
time. At first many slots are sealed, so you’ll have to be careful.
You can buy “Unlock Slot” in the Booster Shop to unlock one. Now,
let’s talk about how to use Boosters. There are 3 kinds. There are
“Normal Boosters”, “Power Up Boosters”, and “Ultimate Boosters”. A
Normal Booster increases one basic stat like Life. They’re ranked
from 1 – 9, which tells you how big of a bonus they provide! Next,
Power Up Boosters. These improve the other Booster they point to. The
effect follows the arrow, but only one affects a given Booster.
Finally, Ultimate Boosters! These are something totally different!
What they do is improve the power of your Ultimate moves! Amazing!
But unlike a Normal Booster, they only upgrade Ultimate’s. Also,
because of how much power they have you can only set 1 of them. And,
that’s pretty much everything. Now you can power up your character!
So go get ‘em!
Trunks here has 4 of his slots locked. The top left, the top center,
the top right and the middle right. You don’t have any money at the
moment, so you cannot purchase any Unlock Slot’s. You start out with
3 Boosters. These are:
Health up +1
Rush up +1
Smash up +1
Equip these if you want a slight advantage in the coming battles. If
you are not happy with the placement of a Booster, then you can just
press the Square button to remove it.
Okay then, all set? Yep? Great, then let’s do this! Press the Circle
button, move the cursor down to [OK] and we’re off!
Trunks – Damn you, Dabura! I won’t let you get away with this!
King Kai – Hey, Trunks!
Trunks – That voice... I know I heard it in the past. Could you be...
King Kai?
King Kai – Yup. I guess I’m famous! Anyway, looks like you’ve got a
heck of a fight.
Trunks – I’m sorry, King Kai, but I don’t have time to talk! I have
to stop Dabura!
King Kai – Hold your horses! I know that, but I have some advice for
you.
Trunks – Th-Thank you...?
King Kai – Good reply! Now, he’s attacking not just you, but the
cities, right?
Trunks – Yeah. He just keeps blowing up cities...!
King Kai – Exactly! You aren’t his only target! He needs to destroy
the cities!
Trunks – Damn it! And it forces me to worry about protecting the
cities!
King Kai – And for you, if the cities are destroyed, you lose, even
if you defeat him. If you’re faced with an enemy in a city, you
should keep your distance.
Trunks – Right. It’s hard to protect everyone while fighting, but I
have to.
King Kai – Right! Each city has a gauge above it, and when the
opponent attacks, the gauge goes down, until finally the city will be
lost! So be careful and make sure you don’t let all the cities get
destroyed!
Trunks – Right!
King Kai – Oh, one more thing! When you are close to a city, you
regain health. Not only that, but the city will start to repair
itself when you’re there!
Trunks – I see. So if a city is getting too damaged I should stop by!
King Kai – Exactly! The status of the cities is displayed in the
upper left!
Trunks – Okay, I’ve got it! I’d better get going!
King Kai – Good! Be careful now! Oh wait! I forgot something
important! Your opponent can get health back by destroying the
cities! Watch out! Anyway, you’d better get going! Hurry up and stop
them Trunks!
Trunks – Okay! Thanks again, King Kai! Here goes!
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, how much text does there have to be?? In case
you got lost because of their babbling, then I’ll give you everything
they’ve just said in simple easy to read bullet points:
* The percent of the cities is shown in the upper left part of the
screen.
* If an enemy starts destroying a city, its % will go down.
* Beat that enemy and stay in place above the city. Its % will rise
again and your health (if you lost any) will slowly refill.
* If an enemy has lost any health (from a battering by you or a team
mate) and he starts destroying a city, his health will slowly refill.
* Try to keep each city’s % as high as you can for a better ranking
at the end of each mission.

Okay, you’re given a [Clear Condition].
[Clear Condition --- “Defeat Dabura in a limited time!”]
Good lord! Look at those amazing graphics! </sarcasm> Anyways, you’ll
now be controlling Trunks on the world map and you have 59 seconds to
do your thing. You should see Dabura flying toward South Village, so
fly up to him to engage him in a battle. But what’s this? Another
Mission reveals itself!
[Mission --- “Don’t let any city’s health fall below 70%!”]
Resume flying up to Dabura. You should reach him before he starts
shooting ki at the South Village.
Battle time! Okay, if you don’t like the DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi over
the shoulder camera then pause the game. Go to Camera Angle and press
the Left direction button until it returns to the more familiar
angle.
This fight with Dabura shouldn’t be too difficult if you are familiar
with the Shin Budokai fighting system. If you’re a beginner, then
I’ve listed a few combos for you. Really, the only thing you need to
watch out for in this fight is the time.

After the fight, you’ll get the ranking for that one fight. You’ll be
graded 1 – 7 stars on Time taken, Tech and your Health.
Okay, after being graded, you’ll be taken to a new screen. The words
“Got a new Booster!” will appear at the top of the screen and you’ll
be able to pick 1 Booster from 5 random ones. You won’t be able to
see what Booster you’re getting, for example I got an Energy Blast up
+1 Booster. You might get something different.
After picking your free random Booster, you’ll be taken back to the
world map screen where a quick little bit of trash talking with occur
(this’ll happen after every fight in the Story Mode by the way).
[Demon King Dabura has left the field.]
MISSION COMPLETE!
You’ll get another Booster for your troubles. There will only be one
of them this time – a Power Up +2 Booster with two arrows pointing
Left and Right.
FIELD CLEAR!
You will now be graded on how well you did. You should get a Z
ranking and some more Zenie.
Future Trunks has reached a new transformation stage!
This means that the Trunks you are using has obtained his Super
Saiyan form!
A new Booster is added in the Booster Shop!
You will now be able to buy all the +1 Normal Boosters AND all the +2
Normal Boosters. Feel free to head into the Booster Shop to buy a
few.
Anyways, you can now select the box with NEXT CHAPTER written on it.
Pick that one.
Trunks – HAAH! HAAH! How do you like that, Dabura?
Dabura – So you finally caught up with me...?
Babidi – Come on, what are you doing? Dabura – You’re Trunks, aren’t
you? How about this?
Trunks – What?!
Dabura heads for a densely populated city and fires a massive energy
blast!
Trunks is able to take the blast, and protect the city from harm.
But with the damage he’d already taken, he lost consciousness.
Babidi – Oh my! That was close, Dabura.
Dabura – My apologies, master.
Babidi – Let’s leave before the Supreme Kai comes. Heh heh heh...
Unfortunately, Babidi and Dabura got away. Trunks hazily remembered
their conversation, about the time machine, and the Senzu beans.
With this information, they considered what Babidi would do next.
Babidi – Heh heh heh heh! We did it! Look! Those warriors from the
past, and their energy is the same!
Dabura – Fascinating. I’m sure he’ll enjoy this. Heheheh...
Babidi – Let’s bring them along and make things interesting!

We’ll arrive at Chapter 2! But wait, we’re not done with Chapter 1
yet, so go back to the Chapter selection screen! Take a look at the
TOTAL box on the left hand side of the screen. Your status look like

Okay, select Chapter 1 again. Select the square with Dabura’s face on
it. Customise Trunks to your liking and let’s go! Okay, now we’re
gonna fail this mission on purpose. Hey, relax I know what I’m doing.
Okay, just stay where you are and let the timer run out, or enter
into battle with the King of Demons and keep wasting time until it
runs out. Defeat Dabura after the timer has expired, pick your random
Booster and you’ll be back on the world map.
[Demon King Dabura has left the field]
TIME UP!
MISSION COMPLETE!
Get your free 2 way +2 Power Up Booster.
CLEAR CONDITION FAILED!
You can now see that you’ve unlocked the alternate path of Chapter 1!
Select the square with Trunks’ face on it to play through an
alternate storyline.
Trunks desperately fought Dabura, but in the middle Dabura and Babidi
fled.
In reality Babidi was siphoning their energy during the entire
battle.
Trunks recklessly flew into battle, Dabura tried to blast him.
Trunks - ?!
Shin – Trunks!
Kibito – Hmph!
Dabura – Did... did I do it?
Kibito – GAAH!
Shin – KIBITO!
Kibito – Are... are you all... right, T-Trunks...?
Trunks – KIBITO!
Shin – To think they could do such a thing...
Kibito took the terrible blast with his own body to protect Trunks.
Though Kibito saved him from one blast, another came shortly
thereafter.
With no means of healing him, they had to resort to medical
treatment.
With no one to oppose them, Babidi and Dabura are gathering more
energy.
Majin Buu – BUUUUUUUU!
Babidi – EEHEEHEEHEHEE! He’s back! Majin Buu is reborn! It took a lot
of work. Hey, Majin Buu! Go and destroy that town for me! Understand?
Go, destroy!
Majin Buu - ......
Majin Buu was resurrected, but he killed Dabura in short order.
Where at first he heeded by Buu, Babidi himself was also killed.
With no orders, Buu simply went on destroying, purely for innocent
fun.
Trunks – Oh man... Look what happened while I was away...
While he was bust with medical treatment, the world was being
destroyed.
Though injured, he was the only one who could face Majin Buu...
You’ll now be thrust into a fight. No flying around parts. You will
be playing as Majin Buu (er... the fat one) and your opponent will be
Super Saiyan Future Trunks.
This fight is a lot less restrictive than the previous one – there is
no timer and you start out with 1 and a half more health bars than
Trunks. Just in case, I have listed a few of Majin Buu’s combo’s for
you.

Oh yeah, note how Buu’s baseline ki bars are at 5. His ki naturally
raises to 5 if they are under that number. Try to get off an Ultimate
move if you can. It’s chargeable and has a wide range.
Complete this fight and you’ll unlock [Sheet No. 13]! You’ll also get
3 new items in the shop.
Select the box that says [END].

Wow, pretty sad huh? Don’t worry though, that was just a “what if”
ending. The game is littered with them!

Okay! Now the story really kicks off. Okay, you’ll be back at the
path screen now. The only place you can go is up and right to the box
with Dabura’s ugly mug on it, so let’s go there!
On the way to the Western Capital, Trunks came across Korin.
While they talked, Korin Tower came under attack, and Korin had to
get away.
Trunks explained the situation to the bewildered Korin...
Trunks - ...I think that pretty much sums it all up.
Korin – I see... So that’s what happened...?
Korin – I know! You’d best take these with you!
Trunks – What’s...
Trunks – Senzu Beans!
Korin – We had to leave in a hurry, but I did at least bring these
with me.
Trunks – Thank you!

Okay, you’ll be taken to the Booster screen again. Customise Trunks
as you see fit. Purchase some level 2 Boosters with your Zenie and
equip them if you want and let’s go!
You’ll now be at the world map screen.
Dabura – Heh heh heh. Yes. Let’s play some more.
Trunks – We’d finally rebuilt this town.
Trunks – Dabura! I won’t let you destroy any more!
Dabura – Oh really...? You think you can defeat me, the king of the
Demon World?
King Kai – Hey, Trunks! Those are Senzu beans you’re carrying, right?
King Kai – But I suspect you don’t know how they work, right? Let me
teach you!
Trunks – O-Okay. Thank you!
King Kai – If someone eats one, their injuries will be completely
healed!
King Kai – How about that? It’s scary how great they are, right? Hah!
Trunks – R-Right... Um... I, kinda... I knew that much.
King Kai – What?! O-Oh really...? Aren’t you boring. At least act
surprised...
King Kai – Well, anyway, no matter how bad it looks, a Senzu can
fully heal you.
King Kai – Of course, if you lose a battle with none left, it’s Game
Over, you know.
King Kai – Oh, and you can see how many you have left in the lower
left of the screen.
Trunks – Okay, got it! But, can’t my opponents do the same thing?
King Kai – Yup! They can have them too, so look at the screen to
check how many.
King Kai – Beat them and keep beating them! Go on, Trunks!
Trunks – Right, King Kai!
In case you didn’t get all of that:
* You start out with 3 Senzu Beans, treat them as lives
* If an opponent defeats you, you lose one life
* You can give an ally of yours, one of your lives by flying up to
them
* Your enemy will never give their allies lives
* Beat your enemies and take away all their lives.

CLEAR CONDITION
“Defeat Dabura!”

Dabura will be joined by enemies such as Frieza and Cell... only
they’re not the real Frieza and Cell – they are in fact puppets made
by Babidi. Both Frieza and Cell have 1 life each. Fly forward a
little bit.
MISSION!
“Don’t let any city’s health fall below 40%!”
Remember that you can keep check on each city’s percentage by looking
at the top left hand corner of the screen. By now, anomies should be
blasting away at a city or two. Let’s go after... Cell first! Fly
into him to start a fight.
He starts out with less than 3 bars of health. If you equipped a Ki
Booster or two then you should be able to use an Ultimate Attack on
him... if he doesn’t block it that is. Keep close to him and hit him
with your physical attacks.
If he damaged you in the battle, stay above the city to heal a little
bit before Cell comes back for more. Fly into him and kick his arse
again. He will have less life seeing as you’ve made him your bitch
before hand in the previous battle. After this, Cell will be
vanquished from the field. The closest enemy to me after killing Cell
was Frieza. Stay above the city to heal if needed and then go and
fight him. Don’t worry if a city falls below 40%, we’re still fresh
into the adventure. You can always come back when your favorite
characters are pumped up on level 9 Boosters!
Frieza starts out with 2 health bars. He’s not that hard at all
really. He likes to circle you quickly and then hit you with a Smash
attack. Double back away from him and them combo him. You may like to
hit him with a Blast move. Alrighty then, fly into him again to
initiate another battle. This time he’ll have only one life bar!
Finish him off and we’ll have eliminated him from the field... and
we’ll hear the infamous “Darn!” line.
Right, now it’s time to get Dabura. The demonic bastard should be
happily destroying a nearby city, so fly up to him and start that
battle! He’ll be starting off with 3 health bars. It’s more or less
the same stuff as before like what you faced in Chapter 1. Dabura is
a sneaky fellow – after I defeated him for example, he flew up to
another city and started blasting away at it. Remember, he’ll have
even less life than before. After defeating him a second time, he
flew straight to yet another city and attempted to try blowing that
one up. Chase after him (heal if you need to) and battle him again.
You will have accumulated at least 5000 Zenie by now so unlock a slot
in Trunks’ Booster screen if you want to.
Now all that remains is beating him one last time.
Demon King Dabura has left the field.
MISSION COMPLETE!
Acquired 3000 Zenie.
FIELD CLEAR
If you did everything required, you should have gotten yourself a Z
Ranking. If you did, congrats! If not, then keep at it you hear? You
can only get better.

Trunks explained the situation, and how without the Dragon balls,
the only solution is to ask for help from the warriors of the past.
Trunks – ...So, I want to use the time machine right away.
Bulma – Okay; it’s already charged up enough for a round trip.
Shin – Perfect! Then let’s go to the past and get Goku and the
others.
Trunks – Right.
Trunks – Okay, mom. It looks like I’ll be going to the past again.
Bulma – Right! Take care of yourself, Trunks!
Trunks – Right. You be careful too, mom.
Kibito – In any case, we’d best get moving.
Trunks – Yeah. Bye mom!
Okay, now we can head to the next chapter! BUT we’re not gonna do
that, because there’s still some more work to do on Chapter 2, we
need to get to those other paths. Highlight the box that says “START”

Trunks – If we go back in time we can ask my dad and Goku for help!
Shin – Time machine?
Trunks – Yeah! Awhile back, I used a time machine to travel to the
past, and fought alongside the most powerful warriors!
Trunks – Since then, we’ve continued developing the time machine, and
we’ve made one that can carry multiple people. If we brought them
here...
Shin – A time machine?! This is incredible!
Shin – Shin – If there are others who can fight like you, we might
just be able to stop Babidi!
Shin – Where is this time machine now?
Trunks – The Western Capital!... I think my mother already went back
there! Oh gosh, I hope she’s okay...
Kibito – Your mother should be fine, but what about you?
Trunks – I’m fine, but the fact that we have no Senzu beans worries
me...
Shin – No Senzu beans?
Trunks – Yes... They were ruined... A long time ago.
Shin – It’ll be fine, Trunks. Senzu beans take a long time to grow,
but they couldn’t have disappeared completely.
Shin – By now there should be new ones growing already!
Trunks – Really? That’s great, but... I’m still worried about my
mom...
Kibito – Trunks, standing around tormenting yourself won’t help the
matter. While we’re talking, Babidi could be on the move.

highlighted is the mission we’ve already done, so press Down and then
X. Ta da! The second path is now open! There should be a second
picture with Dabura’s ugly mug on it, so let’s select it.

Beans.
But when he arrived, Dabura was already destroying the tower!

There will only be three cities to protect this time. You’ll also
notice that the enemy A.I. has been slightly increased. Beat Frieza,
who should be charging right at you as soon as this mission begins.
After you defeat him:
Chain Mission 1
“Defeat Cell in 35 seconds!”
A timer will now appear at the top of the screen. HURRY!!!! Race up
to Cell as fast as you can to preserve precious time. I’d also
recommend equipping Boosters that raise your melee attack power. You
can also equip a Ki raising Booster to lessen the time it takes for
you to be able to use an Ultimate Move. If, you’re fast enough, then
you will beat him with time to spare!
Cell will have left the field after beating him.
Mission Complete!

Chain Mission 2
“Defeat Dabura in 30 seconds!”
I know, I know, another one! Race up to Dabura. If you press the X
button while flying forward, you will fly at a faster speed and you
should reach him in roughly 4 seconds. Dabura has now decided he
likes to block and use the uber annoying Aura Burst Guard move which
blocks ANY attack. Just keep pounding on him until he runs out of ki
with which to use his Super Guard and then hit him with an Ultimate
Attack if possible. Super Saiyan Trunks’ Ultimate works wonders,
especially if you use the second part of the attack. Also, +3 Booster
will now start appearing.
Demon King Dabura has left the field.
Mission Complete!
Get your Booster which should be a +5 Special Attack Booster! +5!! If
not a Special Attack Booster then it’ll be another one. +5 eh! Not
too shabby!
Field Clear
If you were able to do as requested, you’ll have obtained that there
Z Ranking!
Cell has reached a new transformation stage!
Trunks – How do you like that, Dabura?!
Dabura – Heh heh heh... Most impressive, boy.
Trunks – Something’s wrong!
Dabura – I’m just a fake created by Babidi. The real me is at the
time machine.
Trunks – What?!
Dabura – Heh heh heh... Do you really have time to sit around
staring?
Trunks – Grr!
It turns out this Dabura was one of Babidi’s fakes, a fighting
puppet.
Trunks was shocked, and the puppet Dabura took the opportunity to
escape.
Trunks and company cut their losses and climbed the tower to find
Korin.
Trunks – Korin! Koriin!
Kibito – With the Senzu beans at risk, he might not still be here.
Trunks – Oh man...
Korin – Hello there. You must be Vegeta’s son.
Trunks – Korin!
Korin – You’re Trunks right?
Trunks – Yes! I’m Trunks! It’s good to see you! Thank goodness you’re
alright!
Korin – Heeheehee. Well, when that scary guy showed up...
When the fighting puppet came, Korin hid himself inside a pot.
Trunks explained the situation with Babidi to Korin.
Trunks – But if all the Senzu beans are gone we’ll be at a major
disadvantage...
Shin – That can’t be helped. We should be thankful Korin is alive.
Korin – Senzu beans? Actually I have a few saved up. It looks like
you need them.
Trunks – Really?!
Korin – I took some while I was hiding, just in case. I’m glad I did.
Heeheehee.
Korin – By the way Trunks, you probably don’t have much time, right?
Trunks – That’s right! The Western Capital! Mom’s in danger!
Shin – Trunks, let’s hurry! If we don’t make it in time we’re
finished!

the next mission. You’ll be back at the path select screen. There’s
yet another picture of Dabura. You should also be able to see another
path now. Straight underneath the Dabura picture you’ve just arrived

And we’re back at the Booster Screen. If you want you can equip that
+5 Booster you just obtained. And now it’s back to the world map.
Shin – Trunks, if the city is taking damage, the time machine could

Trunks – Right! My mom’s there; I won’t let him attack it anymore!
Dabura – Heh heh heh. You have guts at least, but you’ll see how
useless it really is.

There are 5 cities to keep an eye on this time. Fly forward a little
bit and:
MISSION!
“Don’t let any city’s health fall below 40%!”
Notice how we now have Android 18 on the field? Where the heck did
she come from!? Let’s concentrate on heading towards West Capital
first as Dabura can reduce it to below 40% quite quickly. West City
is right in front of you, press X to speedily make your way towards
it.
Dabura has 2 health bars this time. While fighting him, if you want,
try out Trunks’ counter move (Back + O). If Dabura hits you whilst
Trunks is in this counter stance, then Trunks will jump over him and
plant his boot into the back of the Demon King’s head in a move that
looks like Trunks has watched the Matrix a few too many times! After
you’ve beaten him, you get a choice of 9 count ‘em, 9 Boosters! Take
your pick and let’s move on. Once you’re on the world map again, stay
where you are to heal the city. Dabura should fly right up to you to
start another fight. He now has 1 health bar. After beating him
again, he’ll once again fly up to the city in a futile attempt to
demolish it. Doesn’t he realise he can’t defeat you? Ai ai ai... For
some reason (in my game at least) he had 1 health bar and a tiny bit
of his yellow health bar.
Demon King Dabura has left the field.

Babidi – Hmmm. What’re you doing, Dabura! Oh well, let’s get outta

Bulma – Oh, the time machine is fine. But why?
Trunks – Well...

And we’re done on that bit! Now you can select the [NEXT CHAPTER] box
and head to Chapter 3, but firstly we’re gonna be unlocking and
completing the other scenarios! Head over to the mission you’ve just
done. Do the customising business and everything and we’ll be back on
the world map (skip the dialogue if you want, you’ve already read
it). This time head over to... erm... Android 18, she’s busy
destroying City F. She starts off with 2 health bars and likes to use
her barrier move. Fly into her again and finish her off.
By now, Dabura should have destroyed much of West City. If not, take
your time flying up to him and he will eventually bring the city’s
overall percentage below 40%, but that’s what we want to happen this
time. After you get a big MISSION FAILED on the screen, keep wasting
time until he fully destroys the city.
When he’s very close to nuking it, Shin will pop up and make a
commotion about how West City is in danger, rather than trying to do
something about it and distract Dabura or something... Anyways when
the city’s % reaches zero, Shin will point out the obvious and says
that it’s been destroyed. NOW’S the time to teach Dabura a lesson.
Fly up to Dabura to fight him. Beat him the required number of times.
Clear Condition Failed
Trunks held off Dabura, but the time machine was destroyed in the
battle.
With his last hope extinguished, Trunks fell into despair.
When Trunks lamented Gohan’s absence, Kibito suggested calling him.
A human who has passed on can be brought back for just one day.
In order to bring Gohan back, they travelled to otherworld.
Trunks – Let’s hurry and look for his energy... Let’s see... Over
there!
When Trunks finally found Gohan, he was with Goku, who had died many
years ago.
Trunks – Gohan! I missed you!
Gohan – Trunks? Trunks! Is that you? You’ve really grown up!
Goku – Trunks? Back then you were just a baby!
Gohan – Yes. After my father died I kept on training.
Goku – Wow! So you can become a Super Saiyan?
Trunks – Yes, thanks to Gohan teaching me!
Trunks – Anyway, we have a serious problem...
Trunks explained things to Gohan and Goku, and asked their help.
However, Goku could not return to Earth a second time.
In his place, Goku asked his friend Paikuuhan to join the fight.
When they returned, the battle quickly kicked off.
And now you’ll be brought back to path select screen. Notice how
we’ve unlocked the other path? There are 2 possible endings for this
scenario. Z ranking is bloody hard to get in this fight the first few
times you try it. I recommend ignoring this for now if you are an
inexperienced player and coming back when you have some powerful
Boosters and characters. If you do have these powerful characters and
+9 Boosters, then by all means try it out. I recommend Super Saiyan 4
Goku, Super Vegetto and Gogeta.
Trunks – Gohan, Paikuuhan, thank you very much.
Gohan – It’s too early to be thanking me. That’s one of Babidi’s
puppets?
Trunks – Yes. Let’s take care of this puppet and then deal with
Dabura!
Paikuuhan – I’ve been training for a long time. It’ll be fun to fight
in the real world.
Gohan – Don’t let your guard down. If we don’t go all-out we could
get in trouble.
Shin – Everyone, thank you. It’s time to finish Babidi and Dabura and
end this!
Trunks – Right! We’ll take care of Dabura!
If you attempted to do this mission with the default characters, then
you’ll notice on the Booster Screen that you now have 2 team mates!
Trunks will be joined by Future Gohan and Paikuuhan (why do they
spell his name in Japanese in the Shin Budokai series?).
Anyways, unlock a slot or two with Trunks if you have the money. I
was able to unlock all his locked slots at this moment. Customise
Gohan and Paikuuhan and we’re off!
On the world map;
Trunks – There’s so many...
Gohan – And these are all those fighting puppets?
Trunks – Yes. But how could there be this many...?
Paikuuhan – So we just have to beat all of them? This should be
interesting!
Gohan – Okay everyone! Let’s go!
Trunks – Right! And once we beat all these puppets, you’re next,
Dabura!
Clear condition
“Defeat Dabura in limited time!”
Limited time is bloody right. You need to defeat all these fighting
puppets on the map so that Dabura will arrive. It also doesn’t help
that the enemies now have 4 health bars each and are highly evasive.
Frieza is in his 100% final form. Seriously, this mission really
takes the piss. Frieza has one life. Beat him and:
Frieza has left the field.
Mission!
“All fighters must not lose a battle!”
Crapping hell SB2!! Anything else? Do we need to hold the PSP upside
down when we play too!? 2 Android 18’s are destroying City A. Beat
one and:
Android 18 has left the field.
The enemy’s allies have arrived.
You will be seeing this message a lot. When I say a lot, I mean a
LOT! Another Frieza will arrive further making this mission even more
difficult. Further more, your 2 allies will be battling by now – look
at how fast their health is decreasing. And you’ll probably be
hurting a lot too, but there’s no time to stop and heal!! Absolute
madness. Beat the second 18 and:
Android 18 has left the field.
Guess what. Oh yeah.
The enemy’s allies have arrived.
Yup, that’s another enemy you have to beat in this extremely limited
time. Don’t worry though, once you’re pumped up on +9 Boosters we’ll
be showing these asses a thing or two about playing fair. If you are
defeated, you’ll get a big “Mission Failed” across the screen. Don’t
blame yourself if you lose, because the enemy A.I. has been upped
considerably for this point in the game. +4 Boosters will also arrive
now.
It was round about this time that both my allies died on me. So yeah,
basically, just fly around fighting whoever you want. We will be
coming back here after we’re a lot better and stronger.

Ending B:
During the long battle
Gohan and Paikuuhan’s single
day on Earth ran out.
With the two of them gone,
Trunks had to fight alone.
By himself, Trunks could
not stand up to the enemy,
and was destroyed.
With Trunks gone, there
was no one left to
oppose Babidi’s ambitions.
The world... is doomed.
After we’re done with the main walkthrough, come back to this
mission. The next part of the walkthrough (in the box) is for when
you have powerful characters and +9 Boosters:

Gogeta is the character to use. Get his Special ATK stat up to 99 (or
as high as you can make it). A great thing about Gogeta’s Big Bang
Kamehameha (Forward + O) move is that the CPU hardly knows how to
avoid it.
Another great character to use is Super Vegetto. His special ability
allows him to increase his power exponentially. Use that and his
Spirit Sword Ultimate Move to deal heavy damage.
Super Saiyan 4 Goku is another good choice.
You can max out a character’s stat by using this setup (I’ll use
Special ATK as an example:
Upper left – Special ATK +9
Upper center – Power Booster +5 pointing left, right and down
Upper right – Special ATK +9
Middle left – Power Booster +5 pointing in all four directions
Middle center - +9 Ultimate Booster pointing in all four corners
Middle right – Power Booster +5 pointing up, left and down
Lower left – Special ATK +1
Lower center – Power Booster +5 pointing in all dour directions
Lower right – Special ATK +9
And that should give you a maxed out Special ATK stat (99 is the
maximum). To max out any other stat, just substitute the Special ATK
Boosters for any other one of your choosing. But for now, raise
Gogeta’s Special ATK stat to the max. Oh and pick him as the
character you play as too!
The enemies might teleport your Big Bang Kamehameha, but here’s the
thing – if you perform the Big Bang Kamehameha at the start of the
fight, then they’ll waste 3 bars of ki to teleport behind you and hit
you. After this, use it non stop and power up when necessary. Also,
make sure you charge it up to cause some severe damage to them. To
save even more time, go and finish off the opponent’s that your 2
allies are squaring off against. Also, make sure you use Gogeta’s
Aura Burst Charge move – it lets him regain ki extremely quickly!
Here’s what you do in a nutshell;
* Start off the match by using Big Bang Kamehameha.
* If the opponent teleports it, then just get up, get close and use
BBK again.
* Use Aura Burst Charge (L button + R button) to charge up ki very
quickly.
* After your opponent has fallen after getting hit by a BBK, rush up
to them and start charging your next BBK, when they get up, they’ll
receive one on the face. In other words – spam the hell out of the
Big Bang Kamehameha!!
* Repeat step 4 until the opponent is defeated.
Max out Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Super Vegetto’s Rush stat to have
them dominate over their opponent’s. They will kill instead of being
killed if you max out their Rush stats. Also, make sure you start
Goku off in his Super Saiyan 4 form!
And there we go! You and your team mates keep killing the respawning
enemies. Keep ‘em coming, they’re not gonna beat you and your two
powerful friends! Eventually, all the enemies will stop respawning
(save one more time, it’s Android 18) and now you just need to finish
off the remaining villains.
After that, Dabura will FINALLY show his ugly self. Go apeshit on him

2) Arcade
Arcade mode is largely unchanged from Shin Budokai. You pick a
character and fight through 10 opponents. As soon as you select
Arcade Mode, you’ll be given a bunch of settings that you can change.
These are:
Game Difficulty:
Very Easy – Easy – Normal – Hard – Very Hard – Z
This determines how hard or easy your time in Arcade Mode will be.
It also determines the amount of things you’ll unlock in the shop. If
you complete Arcade Mode on Very Easy difficulty then you’ll get 4
new things, but if you do it on Z difficulty then you’ll unlock 14
new things. Completing this mode on Z difficulty is the best way to
get things more quickly.
Duel Time:
60 seconds – 90 seconds – 120 seconds – 180 second – Infinite Time
This determines how much time each fight in Arcade Mode will be. If
the time runs out and you have more health than your opponent, then
you will win, if the opponent has more health than you when the timer
expires, then he, or she, will win.
Rounds:
1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5
This determines how many rounds each fight will be. You can get more
Zenie if you pick more than one round. For example, if I get a Z
ranking after completing a 2 round fight, then I’ll receive 2000
Zenie afterwards, rather than just 1000.
In Shin Budokai 1’s Arcade Mode, your fighter had 3 special battles.
The two fighters would converse before the battle. In Shin Budokai 2,
a small conversation will precede every single fight. Every single
character has a unique line of dialogue with every other character
including themselves. The ones listed below are the ones I got at the
time of writing this section. I’ll redo Arcade Mode a few times with
everyone again to get more lines of dialogue.

Challenge –

The Challenge mode consists of 50 challenges. Some are pathetically
easy and some can be very frustrating. Your opponent for all 50
challenges will always be base form Goku. The challenges are:

1) Hit twice with Aura Burst Smash!
===================================
Remember the Stun attack? Do that twice. Its R and then Triangle,
your character should launch a heavy hit into the opponent’s mid
section, causing them to be momentarily stunned.
===========================================
2) x5 Aura Burst Smash, and beat the enemy!
===========================================
Remember the move above that you had to do twice? Now you have to do
it 5 times during the match and you have to deplete all of Goku’s
life bar.
================================
3) Hit 3x with Aura Burst Blast!
================================
Okay, for this one you need to once again press the R button to go
into Aura Burst mode and then press the circle button. Your chosen
character will do a charged up ki blast without you needing to hold
down the Circle button to charge it. Do this 3 times.
==========================
4) Hit with a Special ATK!
==========================
For this challenge, simply hit the opponent with a Forward + Circle
move or a Backward + Circle move.
==========================================
5) Defeat the opponent with a special ATK!
==========================================
Beat your opponent to a pulp and then use one of your special attacks
to finish him off. Your special attack has to be the attack that
depletes the last of Goku’s life bar.

6) Use your Ultimate ATK!
=========================
Power up your ki (press and hold down the L button) until you have 5
ki gauges. Now press the Up button and the Circle button at the same
time to have your character launch his or her (if your using Android
#18) ultimate move.

7) Defeat the opponent with an Ultimate ATK!
============================================
This is the same as the above challenge, only you have to make sure
that your ultimate move is the move that depletes the last of Goku’s
health.
================================
8) Use Aura Burst Guard 5 times!
================================
Okay for this one you need to hold down the X button and then press
and hold down the R button. You need to have Goku hit you 5 times
while you’re in Aura Burst Guard mode. Remember, that this guard
drains your ki, so power up if you have low ki.

9) Don’t take damage with a given time! (Beginner)
==================================================
These next 4 challenges can real a real bitch and I mean that quite
literally. Hope you have good evasive and blocking skills! Okay,
basically what you have to do is survive for a set number of time
without taking any damage at all. You will not be able to use ANY of
your attacks (except the teleport hit). You can still use your Burst
Charge move. There are a variety of ways that you can accomplish
these next 4 tasks:
- Press either the Up or Down directional buttons twice, holding it
down on the second press. Your fighter will circle the opponent
making it difficult for him to hit you.
- If and when you have enough Ki, use the Aura Burst Guard, but watch
out if Goku tries a charged attack!
- Block his attacks and when he tries to do a charged attack,
sidestep or back peddle (press Back twice) away from him.
You need to survive for 15 seconds. If you still can’t do it then
head into practice mode. Select the match option, set the difficulty
to Z and remember to pick base Goku as your opponent. Now practise
evading all his moves. That should help.

10) Don’t take damage with a given time! (Middle)
=================================================
Use the same strategies mentioned above. This time you have to
survive for 30 seconds without taking any damage. Remember that you
still can’t use any attacks.

11) Don’t take damage with a given time! (Upper)
================================================
Use the same strategies mentioned above. This time you have to
survive for 60 seconds without taking any damage. Remember that you
still can’t use any attacks.

12) Don’t take damage with a given time! (Z)
============================================
Use the same strategies mentioned above. This time you have to
survive for 60 seconds again without taking any damage. Remember that
you still can’t use any attacks. For this one, I was able to win with
this strategy:
- Back peddle as far away from Goku as you can.
- Start powering up
- Goku should lob a ki blast at you when you start powering up
- Deflect the ki blast, or if it’s a charged up one, simply sidestep
it
- Rinse and repeat.
I’d suggest using a character with a base line of 3 ki bars. This way
you won’t fill up your ki as quickly, ruining this strategy. Keep at
it ya little monkey!

13) Use a Guard Crush!
======================
This one is incredibly easy. Even a toddler could do it. Goku will be
blocking, just press the Triangle button and hold it down. Your
character will do a charged attack and break his guard.
============================================
14) Defeat the opponent using only Guarding!
============================================
Okay, you have 30 seconds to defeat Goku, thing is he’s constantly
guarding. Use those Guard Crashes and try some Pursuit attacks to
drain loads of his health! He only has 2 health bars, so this
challenge shouldn’t take you too long.
=================================
15) Use Pursuit Finish two times!
=================================
Knock your opponent into the air with Up + Triangle, or do any attack
that will knock him away from you (sending him into the sky) and then
keep tapping the R button. Your character will do a Pursuit Finish.
After it’s ended, do another one!

16) Defeat the opponent with Pursuit Finishes!
==============================================
Basically the same challenge as Number 15, only you have to defeat
Goku using a Pursuit Finish. Get him down to low health and then Use
a Pursuit Finish. You must make sure that the blast move of the
Pursuit Finish defeats Goku.
================================
17) Use Discernment three times!
================================
Remember the teleport counter? Wait for your opponent to attack you
and then quickly press Forward + X. Your character should teleport
behind Goku and kick him away. Do this 3 times.
===========================================
18) Defeat the opponent within 120 seconds!
===========================================
Defeat the opponent within 120 seconds. Goku will have 2 extra health
bars now. If you are having trouble defeating Goku within the
allotted time (which I doubt you’ll have if you are good at the
game), then equip some boosters to your chosen character. Ones like
Rush attack boosters and Smash attack boosters would work well. Of
course, if you are good at hitting your enemy with your chosen
character’s ultimate move then equip an Ultimate Booster (if you have
any) and hit him with it to take off lotsa life!

19) Defeat the opponent within 90 seconds!
==========================================
This is exactly the same as the above fight, only you have lost 30
seconds from the allotted time. Do what you did before, equip your
strongest boosters and go all out! If you want to try and do this
without any boosters, then by all means go ahead. Improve your
skills! As Piccolo would say – “NO!! NO BOOST! NO BOOST!!”

20) Defeat the opponent within 60 seconds!
==========================================
Same story as the above fight, only now you have a minute in which to
beat this Goku. He has a nasty habit of trying to block EVERYTHING
you do. Try more charged attack to get past this problem, or even
grabbing.

21) Win with a Perfect!
=======================
Okay, you must win this battle without taking any damage. One hit
that isn’t successfully blocked or dodged and that’s it, you have to
start all over again. One thing to note is that Goku is back at 3
health bars again. If you are having trouble, then equip some strong
boosters to help you out. Don’t worry if you have to use boosters if
you’re struggling, just keep at it and then when you’re better at the
game, try these challenges again. Keep at it!

22) Win with less than 50% Health!
==================================
Your health will effectively be halved! Fight that much more
carefully in this battle. Boosters can help to increase the amount of
health you start out with.
==================================
23) Win with less than 30% health!
==================================
Your health will now start at just under 1 health bar. Meaning you
don’t even have a single health bar. You have to watch yourself now.
Boosters still increase the amount of health you start off with.
==================================
24) Win with less than 10% health!
==================================
Oh boy. Now you won’t even have half a health bar! If you are a
beginner then I recommend that you wait and complete this challenge
when you’re better at the game.

25) Win without using any energy attacks!
=========================================
For this battle, your ki will always be at o. You will not be able to
transform, you will not be able to use any energy attacks, ki blasts,
ultimate moves, teleport counters, Pursuit Finishes, Burst modes, or
dodges. Get right in there and pound your opponent with physical
attacks! Also, if you start off in a transformed state like Super
Saiyan and you get hit without blocking, then you’ll be knocked out
of your transformation and won’t be able to access it again for the
rest of the fight.

26) Win without using any Special ATK!
======================================
Okay, for this battle you need to make sure that you do NOT use ANY
special moves. If you do, then you will be automatically
disqualified. Normal ki blasts are okay, as are ultimate moves. Oh,
and as for the Pursuit Finishers, you can use these, but do NOT let
the final special part of the attack happen. That counts as a special
attack.

27) Use Charge Cancel five times!
=================================
This one’s easy. back peddle away from Goku and press and hold down
the Triangle button. You notice that your chosen character has
started to charge up his attack. Now while he’s charging it, press
the X button. See that? He stopped the attack. Now do this 4 more
times and you’re done with this challenge.

28) Use Charge Attacks three times!
===================================
Try to hit Goku with some charged up attacks. Press and hold down the
Triangle button to do a charged up attack.

29) Use Charge Attacks seven times!
===================================
This is exactly the same as the above challenge, only you need to hit
Goku with 7 charged up hits.

30) Dodge 4 times!
==================
This one can be annoying. Now, you know how you can dodge a physical
attack by pressing the X button just before it hits you? Well, you
need to do that here 4 times. It doesn’t have to be in a row. I said
it could be annoying as Goku doesn’t seem to want to use normal
physical attacks on you. Try to sidestep or block his other attacks
and dodge when you can.

31) Dodge 7 times!
==================
Exactly the same as the above challenge, only now you need to
successfully dodge 7 of Goku’s physical attacks. Do the same thing
you did for challenge 30.

32) Avoid throws 3 times!
=========================
You can interrupt a throw. As soon as an opponent attempts a grab on
you, try a grab move yourself. You need to do that 3 times for this
challenge. If you are successful then your character should, sort of,
force Goku off of him, effectively interrupting the throw.

33) Breakfall 4 times!
======================
Here’s an easy one. Let Goku knock you onto the floor and then (when
your character is actually ON the floor) press the Up or Down button
along with the X button. Press them both at the same time and your
character will do a sidestep as he or she gets up. This is a great
move for hitting your opponent’s back with!

34) Deflect energy blasts 6 times!
==================================
Back peddle a little and let Goku shoot ki blasts at you. As soon as
a blast reaches you, tap the X button and your character will deflect
it right back at Goku. Do this 6 times.

35) Win without using the Guard Button!
=======================================
You won’t be able to guard any attacks in this fight, nor will you be
able to teleport, or dodge, or do any quick sidesteps. Also, you will
not be able to cancel any charged up moves.

36) Win without using the Rush Button!

You can’t use your rush combos in this fight, Smash moves are the way
to go!

37) Win without using the Smash Button!
=======================================
You will not be able to utilise Smash attacks for this battle. Rely
on your Rush attacks and special moves!

38) Win without using the Energy Button!

For this battle, pressing the Circle button will do nothing, so stick
to physical attacks!

39) Win without using the Aura Burst Button!

For this battle, pressing the [R] button will do nothing. Hope you
didn’t get too attached to Burst Charge and Stun moves!

40) Win without using the Ki Charge Button!

Win the fight without the use of the [L] button. Pressing it will do
nothing. Remember that physically hitting your opponent raises your
ki, as does blocking his attacks.

41) Do a 5-Hit Combo!

Good lord, is this one easy! Pick Goku and press the Square button 5
times. You’ll get a 6 hit combo.

42) Do a 10-Hit Combo!
======================
Power up a little bit and then lure your opponent into the air. Do
the 6 hit combo like above and then keep tapping the R button whilst
keeping the Up button held down. You should get a 14 hit combo.

43) Do a 15-Hit Combo!
======================
Pick Future Trunks (The one without the sword, wearing Saiyan armor)
and start off in Super Saiyan mode. Now, power up and make sure you
have 6 ki gauges. Use Super Saiyan Trunks’ Ultimate move and take a
look at the combo number. As soon as you see the number 6, press the
Circle button again and Trunks will initiate the second part of his
move. This should net you 16 hits.

44) Do a 20-Hit Combo!
======================
Do the above strategy and as soon as the attack is over and you can
move again, dash over to Goku and start hitting the Square button to
have Trunks do his Rush hit combo. You should get 20 hits and you may
even exceed 20 hits.

45) Hit the opponent 3x from behind!
====================================
You can just do 3 Teleport Counters (Forward + X just as your
opponent attacks you) for this challenge. Of course, if Goku knocks
you onto the ground, get up by pressing Up or Down + X and your
chosen character will circle the opponent. Then you can attack his
back!

46) Do 1200 damage with one combo!
==================================
Put a few Special Attack Boosters on a powerful character and then
use his Forward + Circle move. Alternatively you could use a
characters Ultimate. Ultimate’s can exceed 1200 damage like Goku’s
Spirit Bomb.

47) Do 2000 damage with one combo!
==================================
If you have Super Vegito and have enough Boosters to max out his
Special Attack stat, then pick him (start out in Super Vegito form)
and once you are in battle, use his Aura Burst Charge move. It raises
his attack power. Now use a fully powered up Kamehameha and you will
remove ALL 3 OF GOKU’S LIFE BARS! Or use his Ultimate move, the
Spirit Sword to deal over 2000 damage.

48) Survive as long as you can!
===============================
Okay, this is just one big survival match. You can use all your
attacks, but Goku’s health will instantly recover after he has taken
damage. You health will not recover though. You need to survive for 5
minutes or over. To increase your chances of lasting longer, max out
your chosen characters health with Health +9 Boosters. If you pick
somebody like Gogeta or Super Vegito, then you’ll have 7 baseline ki
bars, which will help out with teleporting and dodging and the like.

49) Get as many hits as you can!
================================
Remember the Trunks strategy in Challenge 44? Use that here. Goku
will not be attacking you, so you can fully concentrate on the combo
now without worry. You have over 170 seconds to the combo as well, so
you just have to mess around after you’ve done the combo. Ooooor, you
could try to get a higher combo number!

50) Cause massive damage!
=========================
For this final challenge, use the Super Vegito strategy in challenge
47. You don’t have to use him however, you use any character you
like, but you must make sure that you have dealt AT LEAST 5000
damage. If you look just under your health bar, then you’ll see the
total amount of damage you’ve done when you’re causing damage. I was
able to get 16832 damage with Super Vegito.

4) Network Battle
5) Practice
This is where you can, what else? Practice of course! Use this mode
for trying out the character’s vast movesets and for testing out new
combos that you’ve made yourself. You can choose your character and
also your opponent, so that makes this a great mode for taking out
your frustration or anger on a character you hate! After picking your
characters you can now pick the stage you’re going to fight in. The
stages are;
- Plain
- Hyperbolic Time Chamber
- Snow Field
- Destroyed Future City
- Kai’s World
- Planet Namek
- HFIL
- Ruins
- Random
Next you can set the number of rounds from 1 to 5 and the time limit.
These two are for a mode that you can access during gameplay in
Practice Mode. You can also set the number of health bars(maximum of
7 and minimum of 1), the starting energy (how many ki bars the you
and your opponent will start off with) and the check energy (this is
how many ki bars it’ll cost you to teleport counter). If you don’t
care about all this stuff, then simply press and hold the down
directional button to skip to that [OK] sign at the bottom of this
screen and off we go!
Once the training starts, you’ll notice several little details on
screen. Let’s go through them shall we?
- Max Hits; this is the maximum number of hits in a combo you’ve
managed to perform.
- Damage; this is how much damage each individual hit in the combo
you’re currently performing is doing.
- Total Damage; This is the above damage all added up. It’ll stay
that way until you initiate a new combo or special attack.
- Max Damage; this is the highest amount of damage you were able to
land on your opponent. When you are able to beat this amount, this
number will change to the higher amount.
- Attack; This is the attack power your character currently has. When
you power up your ki and it goes beyond your baseline ki bars, the
percent will rise. It will go down with each smaller ki bar used up.
- Guard; This is how much defense your chosen character currently
has. When you go below your baseline ki (the biggest ki bars under
the health bar) your defense will drop. As expected, you will take
more damage from enemy attacks if you are below your baseline ki, so
try to keep it as high as you can!
Now we’ll look at the pause menu!
Continue – Resume the current training.
COM Action – You can choose to have the opponent do a different range
of things. These include;
* Do Nothing = The opponent will just stand there and take a beating.
* Guard 1 = The opponent will guard your attacks.
* Guard 2 = This seems to be exactly the same as Guard 1...
* Practice = The opponent will spar with you.
* Match = You can fight your opponent in a continuous series of
matches.
COM Level – This is where you can choose the difficulty your opponent
will have when you select Practice and/or Match (explained above).
You can choose from Weak, Average, Strong, Very Strong and Z.
Def. Ki Blast Wv – You can choose to have your opponent deflect your
ki blasts;
* Do Nothing; the opponent does nothing.
* Deflect; the opponent will deflect the ki blasts you throw at
him/her.
* Deflect-Back; the opponent will deflect the ki blasts you throw at
him/her... right back at you!
Counterattack – Switching this on will turn your attacks into
Counterattacks. The word “Counterattack” will be displayed on screen
at the start of combo’s and with every single hit you do.
Break-fall – Switching this on will make the opponent instantly
recover when he or she is knocked down. Just like when you’re
fighting the CPU.
Display – You can alter the on screen text and details. You can
choose from;
* Status and Command; the on screen details and your button inputs
will be shown.
* Status; only the on screen details will be shown.
* Command; only your button inputs will be shown.
* No Display; nothing will be shown on screen.
Assign Buttons – Here you can switch what each button does. You can
also do this from the options mode in the main menu.
Camera Angle – This is a nifty little feature in which you can alter
the camera angle a little bit, fifteen times. At 0, the screen will
be traditional sideways viewing like all other fighting games. If you
crank it all the way to 15 then the angle will be very reminiscent of
the Budokai Tenkaichi series by Spike. The camera will now be almost
over the shoulder of your character.
Change Character – You can change your character and your opponent
without backtracking to the character select screen. Also, yes, you
CAN choose which transformation the character has. Remember to press
and hold the R shoulder button to make the character start off in the
desired form.
Reset Position – You can place the characters back at their starting
positions. Very handy for those players that don’t wish to knock
their opponent onto the ground again. It’s much quicker than flying
up to your enemy and pounding him or her to the floor!
Check Command List – You can browse through your chosen character’s
move list. If you highlight a certain combo or move and press X then
the chosen move/combo will be displayed in the button input section
of the screen! To negate this, simply return to the move list and
press the O button to revert the button input part back to normal.
Main Menu – Quit this mode and return to the Main Menu.
And that just about covers everything there is to know about Practice
Mode. Now get practicing ya little monkey, I wanna see a personalized
20 hit cancel combo by this afternoon!

6) Profile Card
Create and customise your profile card, buy stamps and view your
status and friends!

Shop
====
This is the place, of course, where you’ll be buying your stamps and
titles for your Profile Card. One of the bad things is that you have
to re-buy all the stamps from the first Shin Budokai game. The prices
can vary from as little as 2000 Zenie to 5000 Zenie and even
1,000,000. Only one item in the shop costs this much and quite
frankly it really isn’t worth it. Buying stamps and the like will
increase your %. Keep in mind that Titles do not raise your %. There
are 5 sections – Small, Medium, Large, Sheet and Title:
Small:
These are various little things such as hearts and spirals and stuff.
There are 39 in total.
Medium:
These are various things such as many different kanji’s, the Shin
Budokai 2 logo and other things such as Scouters, a halo, Nimbus,
Trunks’ sword and much, much more. There are 73 in total.
Large:
These are various stamps of all the characters in the game and of
other characters from the Dragonball universe. Most of them are
artworks from the console Budokai games. If you’ve seen an artwork in
a Budokai game (Budokai 2 and 3 anyways) then there’s a 99% chance
that you’ll eventually see it in the shop. I love Stamp #130!
Sheet:
Once you’ve bought one of these Sheets then you can set it as your
background for your Profile Card. There are the various background
artworks from Budokai 3, some of the Budokai 1 screens on the main
menu and much more. 2 things – Sheet #34 is a rip off and Sheet #80
is the best.
Title:
Here you can buy various titles for your Profile Card. The title you
select will appear on the back of your Card, underneath your Network
battle info and above your own text, if you’ve written any. I shall

This is the place where you’ll be making and editing your custom
Profile Card. Pick a Sheet that will be your background and then feel
free to place the Small, Medium and Large stamps that you’ve
purchased onto it:
Arrange Stamp –
This is where you select what stamp you want to have on your Profile
Card. Press Left or Right to go through the S, M and L stamps and
Down or Up to cycle through the stamps themselves.
Erase Stamp –
Not happy with a certain stamp that you’ve placed on your Profile
Card? Not to worry, you can take it off of the Card! Press the X
button to select Erase Stamp and then move the cursor over the stamp
you want to delete. Press the X button again to remove it.
Edit Stamp –
This is where you can edit each individual stamp. The options are:
A) Edit Stamp Position (you can move the stamp around the Card)
B) Rotate Stamp (you can turn the stamps around)
C) Scale Stamp (you can make the stamp bigger or smaller)
D) Edit Stamp Label Order (You can have one stamp go behind or in
front of another one)
E) Change Transparency (You can make a stamp fade away into
nothingness)
F) Invert Stamp (you can flip a stamp)
Have fun with this!
Change Sheet -
This is where you can select the various Sheets that you’ve
purchased.
Background Color -
You can change the color of the background using 3 color bars.
Edit Comments -
Here you can write a message to go on the back of your Profile Card.
Select Title -
Here you can select any Title that you’ve bought. This will also
appear on the back of your Profile Card (just above your personal
text).
Delete Title -
You can remove your current Title. If you don’t want a Title anymore
then just select this option.
Save -
You can save your current Profile Card here.
Load -
You can load an old Profile Card here.
Initialize -
Select this option and all of your current Stamps and your current

Press the Square button to view the card and press the Triangle
button to save the card.

This will show you a list of the Profile Cards you’ve saved. Remember
that you can only Save 1 and only 1 of each friend’s Card.

Load – Load a previously saved game
Erase – Delete a saved game
Auto-Save – Great for people who forget to save. Switching this on
will make the game automatically save your progress after making some
progress.
Change Nickname – Not pleased with your current Nickname? Well, here
you can change it! Remember that your Nickname can only be 7
characters long.

Connection Style

Here, you can switch the Accept Battle option on or off. In a normal
battle, if your Ad Hoc switch is turned on and if somebody tries to
battle you, then you can choose to fight them, or not fight them.
There are also 4 more options to chose:
Player Battle [Normal]:
Have a player battle against the opponent of your choice while
waiting for a battle.
Player Battle [Custom]:
While waiting for a battle you can have a battle with a custom
character.
CPU Battle:
While waiting for a battle you can watch CP characters battle each
other.
Card Sharing:
While waiting for a battle you can do card sharing.

Screen Display

This part deals with the gauges and the camera angle:
Gauge Display:
You can set it to ON or OFF. If you set it to OFF then it will not be
seen during battles. This can make matches more exciting!
Display Priority:
You can set it to Front or Behind. If you set it to Front then it
will always be seen clearly in a battle. If you set it to Behind then
you will not be as visible when your character say, does his or her
Ultimate move.
Camera Angle:
With this you can set the Camera Angle during gameplay. There are 15
Camera Angles in total. If you set it to 0 then it will be in the
same style as all the other Budokai games. Then you can slightly move
it bit by bit and when it gets to 15, you’ll notice that it is in
roughly the same style as the Budokai Tenkaichi series of games.

Voice Select
============
You can set the voices to Japanese or English here. If you like the
original voice of Goku provided by Masako Nozowa then switch the
voices to Japanese. If you prefer his English voice done by Sean
Schemmel then by all means switch it to English.

Bonus
=====
Here, you can play Dragon Click, listen to various tracks from the
Budokai series and view the Ending Credits:
Dragon Click:
It’s changed a little bit from the first Shin Budokai game. Now you
press the X button instead of the [R] button. Try to press it as many
times as you can within 10 seconds. My score is a measly 210.
Dragon Music:
This is exactly the same as the one from the first Shin Budokai game,
except that they’ve placed new songs from this game into it. You can
listen to 61 songs from the Budokai series. Track 16 (Wild Soul) is
my favorite.
View Credits:
What do you think this does? It lets you view the ending credits for
the game of course! You can also use the analogue
stick/slider/whatever it is to move Master Roshi around if you want.

VIII) Boosters
New to the Shin Budokai series is the option to equip Boosters to
your characters. Equip a certain Booster to a character and a certain
stat will increase. Equip more and more Boosters to further increase
a stat. To equip Boosters onto a character, highlight that particular
fighter on the Character Select screen and press the Triangle button.
You will then be taken to the Booster screen where you can place 9
Booster cards down.
Press the Triangle button to open a little menu with the current
number each stat has. On your first time here, you’ll notice that the
character has a few locked spaces. You cannot set a Booster in that
locked space until you have purchased an Unlock Slot item. Okay, to
select or buy a Booster, press the X button on an already unlocked
slot:
Normal Booster –
These are the stat Boosters. They raise different stats such as
Health, Ki, Strength or other things. You can only max out 1 of your
stats, a maxed out stat will be at level 99:
Health:
These ones determine how much health your character has. Max out your
health and you will have 7 health bars.
1) Health +1
2) Health +2
3) Health +3
4) Health +4
5) Health +5
6) Health +6
7) Health +7
8) Health +8
9) Health +9
Ki:
These ones determine how many baseline ki bars your character will
have. Bardock has 3 baseline ki bars: max out his ki and he will have
7 baseline ki bars.

17) Ki +8

Defense:
These ones make you more resistant towards your opponent’s attacks.

Rush:
These ones increase the damage caused by your character’s Rush hits
(the Square button attacks). Max out this stat for say Gogeta and he

Smash:
These ones will increase the damage done by your character’s Smash

Energy Blast:
These ones make your character’s ki blasts more powerful. Max out

Chasing ATK:
These ones make the damage you cause during a Pursuit Finish do much
more damage. It’s only for the physical hits in the Pursuit Finish
though, not the blast at the end.

Special ATK:
These ones make your special moves like, the Kamehameha do more
damage. Max out this stat for say Gogeta and his Soul Strike (<O
move) will deal over a bar of health uncharged and over a bar and a
half of damage fully charged. If you max out Vegetto’s Special ATK
stat, use his Burst Charge move and successfully utilize his Savage
Counter (<O move) then he can end up dealing WAY over 2 bars of
damage!

Power Up Boosters -
The next Boosters are quite different. They have numbers on them and
arrows pointing either up, down, left, or right. None of these
Boosters have 1 arrow, they will have either 2, 3, or 4. Here’s an
example on how they work (Please excuse the s***y diagram...) –
1) I put two [Health +1] Boosters on the Booster Sheet:

character’s Ultimate move could end up dealing like 10,000 hit points
of damage. You can however raise its increase by a few points by
having some Power Up Boosters pointing to it. The max you can get an
Ultimate Stat to is 29, if you know how to raise it even further then
do please tell me and I’ll include it along with your name to this
guide! The Ultimate Boosters are –

IX) Unlockables
Find out how to unlock new characters and stuff!
Bardock –
To unlock the father of Goku, complete the 6th fight of Chapter 5.
Cooler –
To unlock Frieza’s older brother, complete the second mission in
Chapter 4.
Dabura –
To unlock the King of Demons, simply beat him in the second level of
Chapter 2.
Future Gohan –
To unlock Gohan’s future self, you need to complete chapter 5. Not
really that hard as almost all of the parts are normal battles with
no world map stuff to do.
Piccolo (Fused with Kami) –
To unlock Kamicollo or the Namek who has long since forgotten his
name, you must defeat him in the alternate path of Chapter 3.
“What? Piccolo fused with Kami?”
Super Buu with Gotenks Absorbed –
To unlock the second Mightiest Majin, you need to velar the second
level of Chapter 7.
Super Buu with Gohan Absorbed –
To unlock the Mightiest Majin, you must clear the third level of
Chapter 7.
Super Saiyan 4 Goku –
Now, I got both SSJ4 Goku and Majin Vegeta, despite getting the
second ending (Ending B) in chapter 7. I got a B ranking and they
were both unlocked afterwards. I have since got the other ending
(Ending A).
Majin Vegeta –
Now, I got both Majin Vegeta and SSJ4 Goku, despite getting the
second ending (Ending B) in chapter 7. I got a B ranking and they
were both unlocked afterwards. I have since got the other ending
(Ending A).
Other Boosters –
Everytime you defeat an opponent on the over world map during the
story mode, you will be able to choose 1 Booster from a select few.
They will all be turned face down so you cannot see which Booster you
are getting. If you have 30 of a Booster and happen to end up with
that one after a fight then it will say that you already have 30 of
that particular Booster and you’ll unfortunately end up with
nothing... which sucks.
Stamps and Titles –
You can get stamps by beating various modes, but the fastest way is
to go to Arcade mode, set the rounds to 1, the difficulty to Z and
then beat that mode if you can. You’ll get 14 stamps afterwards.
You’ll also be getting this message frequently after completing
something such as a Time Attack course:
“Something new is available in the shop!”
This “Something New” will always be a new Title to purchase. It will
take you a good long while before you stop getting this message so
keep at it! A good way to stop getting this message is to do the Time
Attack 1 course. Do the first course which is against 3 opponents
(Piccolo, Krillin and Vegeta) to unlock more “new things” in the shop
quicker.
Bonus section on the Options menu –
Simply beat the Arcade mode to get this. You will be able to play
Dragon Click, listen to the game’s soundtrack and view the ending
credits. To get the Bonus section quickly, set the difficulty to Very
Easy and the number of rounds to 1.

X) Tips and Hints
- At any time of your choosing, practice with every single character
in the game. Don’t just go after the Saiyans. You may find for
example that you’re really good with Cell or Pikkon!
- Try not to rely too much on boosters after fully getting to grips
with the game; if you use them all the time then you’ll start getting
used to the amount of damage your character does or the health they
start out with and this will probably surprise you when you enter a
battle against your friends... if you play this game with friends
that is!
- When you are confident enough in your own skills, try ramping up
that old difficulty level for modes such as Arcade. Playing the game
on higher difficulties and having no boosters equipped will only make
you get better at the game!
- This is a button preference thing, but you could try swapping the
functions of the X button and the R shoulder button like I did. This
makes performing cancel combos much more easy. It may take you a
while to adjust to the changed buttons, but keep at it and you’ll be
playing the game as you normally would again in no time!
- When doing a pursuit combo on your opponent, stop if the next hit
will give them 3 or over ki bars; there is a high chance that they
will teleport behind you and give you an arse kicking. Only try the
full pursuit combo if you have at least 3 ki bars remaining; that
way, you’ll be able to teleport behind your opponent if they teleport
behind you!
- Whilst teleporting, hold down the Guard button (X by default) and
not only will your character not hit their opponent, but they’ll be
guarding so you can combo them from behind. Remember that hitting
your opponent from behind will cause more damage!

XI) Trivia
Little facts and stuff about the game!
1) Future Gohan’s Super Saiyan 2 artwork on the character select
screen is just his Super Saiyan 1 artwork, but with electricity
added.
2) If Goku does his Kaioken Kamehameha (>O, O) and someone teleports
behind him while he’s doing it (when the camera angle changes) then
you’ll see the other character behind him, trying to do the Teleport
hit. Goku will be immune to the hit however.
3) Like Budokai 2 and 3 with Trunks’ Super Saiyan 2 transformation,
this game also introduces what if transformations in the form of
Super Saiyan 2 and Elder Kai Unlock Ability (or Mystic) for Future
Gohan.
4) This marks the first time Future Gohan has been playable in a
Dragonball Z game. Well, in the UK anyway because Dragonball Z Sagas
never made it anywhere outside of America due to its extremely bad
reception.
5) If you press the Square, Triangle, Circle or X button on the
loading screen, then you’ll “hit” the Turtle kanji. This also applies
for the directional buttons. If you press say, the Down button and
the X button at the same time, then a different sound effect will be
heard.
6) Wanna start a fight in your transformed state? You got it!
Highlight your character’s form and hold down the R button. While
still holding the R button press X and voila! Be warned though, your
opponent will also be in his transformed state as well.
7) As with Shin Budokai, Pikkon’s name is spelt as Paikuuhan, which
is his Japanese name.
8) You can move Master Roshi around during the ending credits! To
move him around, use the analogue stick.
