• Well, my copy of the WRC demo arrived safe and well. After taking it out of
the padded bag it came in, tearing off the shrink wrap and giving it a good
play through, I've come to realise that WRC is going to be one hell of a
game. It certainly surpassed my expectations.
So I've decided to whip up this little FAQ for those of you lucky enough to
also have the demo copy of the game.

R3 - The Right 3 button is also not used.
L1 - The Left 1 button will change down gears when you have your car's
transmission set to manual.

L3 - You guessed it, the Left 3 button isn't used.
D-Pad - When you have control set to "digital" this is what you'll be steering
with.
Left Analog Stick - When you have control set to "analog" this is what you'll
be using to control your beast.
Right Analog Stick - The Right Analog stick isn't used in the game.
Start - This will pause your game, thus opening up the pause menu.

Record Time: 2:19:00
Description: Set across rough-terrainded mountaintops, El Condor may give you
a realatively small degree of difficulty at first, as there are
a few sudden sharp turns, and plenty of opportunities for you to
skid off the un-fenced, rough dirt track and roll you car on a
violent piece of terrain. But with one or two attempts you'll
become more familiar with the track, and those suprise turns will
be no more.
If you stray too far off the track, there's a good change you'll
end up plummeting over the edge of a very high cliff, so make
sure to try and stick to the track, and keep your eye on the
road, and off the breathtaking scenery.

Record Time: 3:18:00
Description: Set on roadways through lush mountains, Rezzo is also a very
impressive track.
At times it's obvious that the roads you are racing on were
designed to be driven on at about a thirds of the speed you'll
be burning across them.
There are a few hairpin corners to keep you on your toes, but for
the most part you will be able to take in the scenery at very high
speeds, thanks to a few long straights, and some nice, blunt,
long-ish turns. If you can control your car through turns fairly
well that is.

I'd seen a few previews of WRC on the net, and checked out a few screenshots
as well, and it looked to be at least a decent rallying game.
When my copy of the game arrived I unwrapped it, and took it down to my PS2 to
give it a quick whirl. From the instant I turned the game on I knew it was
gonna be something special. The opening FMV was excellent, and the game just
had a special feel to it. When I actually got around to play the game it just
got better and better.
The game plays just as it should. The cars and tracks both look, play and feel
just like real rally cars and tracks. The cars handle just like you would
expect, and display great physics.
Graphically the game is pretty damn fine. The textures are nice, the cars look
great, both in design, and the amount of polygons whacked into them. The game
runs at a silky smooth framerate, without ever dropping, and the draw distance
is fabbo. All of the little details are there, from the dust slowly building
up on your car as you race through a dry dirt track, the the vibrations inside
your vehicle (from the rough terrain) that literally make your driver vibrate,
as well as the steering wheel, and gear stick, just as they do in real life.
There isn't any music on the Time Trial tracks, but you do get a taste of it
when watching replays, and from what I've heard it's really good, and fits the
game perfectly.
The sound effects are spot on, and the cars sound just as they should, and the
sounds of collisions, skids and driving on different surfaces are just
great.
If the final version of WRC maintains the quality of this demo, then WRC is
going to go down as one of THE BEST Rally games to date.

• Answer: Sony of Australia was offering a limited amount of these babies
for free. And no, they don't have any more.
• Question: Will you be doing an FAQ for the full version of WRC when it

• Answer: Extremely unlikely.
• Question: Should I buy WRC?
• Answer: Well, if the demo is anything to go by, WRC is going to be one of
the collest rally games ever. If you're a fan of rally games, then
I'd highly recommend you rent the game to see what you think of it,
and I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.
(Update) - Now that it's out, I hear the game is very easy, and can
be beaten in a few days, so why not rent it and see if you think
it's worth owning or not first?
