Character FAQ, version 1.0.

King is a famous fighter from The King Of Fighters (kof) game. She was
playable in all parts, except kof2002. I even saw her in Capcom vs SNK 1,
2. In kof 2003 her technique has changed: she became a ranged fighter. To
my mind this made her weaker, because for example in kof99 she was a
fighter with a ballanced technique, and kof is a close-range combo game.
But King was always one of my favourite kof fighters. That is why I have
written this FAQ.

3.2. Some rules of King of fighters 2003.
**************************************************
When your character is attacked or he/she performs some moves the power
gauge fills. You can fill 5 maximum lines of power gauge. You can perform
super special moves (SSM) if the gauge line is full. This will cost 1 power
line. Leaders can use leader super special moves (LSSM). This will cost 2
power lines. When you select your team members, you select the leader
first. Leaders have a blue life gauge.
Your character is invincible during an evasion move. Your enemy can only
throw your character.
To escape a throw you must press the same button, your enemy did. Some
throws are not escapable.
Characters will get dizzied if they are hit too many times. To recover you
must quickly press any button.
If a character blocks too many attacks the guard will be crushed and a
character disballanced for some time.
You can use evasion during block. It will cost 1 power line. You can evade
when the hero is knocked down to recover quickly.
In kof2003 you can change your team fighters during the battle (If a
fighter you want to summon is not KO'd). While changing, a hero, who
summons, is defenceless for near a second. If summoner is hit in this
period of time, the change will fail. You can also perform character
change attack. This will reduce changing time period, your opponent can be
hit, but it will cost 1 power line.

4. Moves.
*******************************************************
**************************************************
4.1. Key combinations.
**************************************************
#1. Sliding: df + D.
#2. High venom strike: qcf + A/C.
#3. Low venom strike: qcf + B/D.
#4. Double strike: qcf,qcf + B/D.
#5. Tornado Kick: hcb + B.
#6. Full tornado Kick: hcb + D.
#7. Trap Shot: b,d,db + B/D.
#8. Somersault (SSM): qcb,qcb + B/D.
#9. Multiple tornado (SSM): qcf,hcb + B/D.
#10. Multiple strike (LSSM): qcf,qcf + A/C.
**************************************************
4.2. Moves description.
**************************************************
#1. Sliding: King performs sliding kick attack. This move can't knock
down an opponent. Try to perform a quick strike after this move.
#2. High venom strike: King shoots with high energy bolt. Perform this
move to prevent air attacks.
#3. Low venom strike: King shoots with high energy bolt. This move is good,
if an opponent stands in block.
#4. Double strike: King shoots twice with energy bolts. This move is a
good projectile counter move. This move knocks the opponent down, that is
why it is effective at any distance.
#5. Tornado Kick: King performs a long ranged kick attack. I don't think
that it can be used as anti-air attack, because the level of the kick is
too low for that. Use this move to knock a standing opponent down.
Remember, that if the opponent blocks this attack, he/she can easy counter.
#6. Full tornado Kick: King performs a long ranged double kick attack. I
don't think that it can be used as anti-air attack, because the level of
the kick is too low for that. Use this move to knock a standing opponent
down. Remember, that if the opponent blocks this attack, he/she can easy
counter.
#7. Trap Shot: King quickly performs a sault, and if it hits the opponent,
King kicks the enemy multiple tomes and then knocks the opponent down with
the last kick. Use it while close to the enemy.
#8. Somersault: King gathers energy and performs 3 saults, damaging and
knocking down an opponent. Effective against air attacks. Use it while
close to the enemy.
#9. Multiple tornado: King gathers energy and performs a jump forward. King
is invincible during this jump. If King reaches and hits the enemy she
performs a combo with Full tornado kick at the end, damaging and knocking
down an opponent. Effective, when the opponent is in the air, or at the
end of a combo.
#10. Multiple strike: King gathers energy and performs 5 different level
red-coloured Venom strikes, damaging and knocking down an opponent.
Effective, while the opponent is standing without block.
*******************************************************
5. Combos.
*******************************************************
#1. Most famous combo: in air D, after landing d+D.
#2. In air B/D, after landing d+B, Trap shot.
#3. In air B/D, after landing d+B, Somersault.
#4. While crouching: B, B, then Double strike.
#5. d+A, A, Multiple Strike.
#6. While crouching B, then Low venom strike, Sliding, Somersault.
#7. A, High venom strike, Multiple Strike.
#8. In air A/C, after landing A, High venom strike, Double strike.
#9. While crouching: B, B, then Low venom strike, Full tornado kick.
#10. While crouching: B, B, then Low venom strike, Multiple tornado.
#11. While crouching: B, B, then Low venom strike, Multiple Strike.
*******************************************************
6. Strategies.
*******************************************************
**************************************************
6.1. Strategy versus simple enemies.
**************************************************
Some facts are described in section 4.2.
King is a long ranged fighter, so use Double strike and Multiple strike as
often as possible. The best anti-air moves are High venom strike and
Somersault.
When King blocks close attack, counter with combos, the last move of which
knocks down an opponent.
Remember, that King d+D attack's range is very short, so perform it as
close to the enemy, as you can.
**************************************************
6.2. Battling with Kusanagi.
**************************************************
If he is far away, use Double strike. If he is close to King - stay in
block. Kusanagi attacks with combos, but he performs throws rarely. When
Kusanagi ends his attack, the easiest way to counter is f+C. Try not to
use Tornado kick or Trap shot as a single attack, because if Kusanagi
blocks it, he counters (usually with combos). Be careful if King is in a
corner, because if Kusanagi brakes King's defence there, his attack combo
can be much longer.
Try to perform Multiple Strike as often as possible, but only as a part of
counter attack and also when Kusanagi runs to King and he is close (1,5 - 2
of kick distance) to her.
If King has blocked Kusanagi's close attack you can counter with: #5 combo
(the easiest and at the same time strong combo), #7 combo, #9 combo, #10
combo, #11 combo.
Kof 2003 has 2 last bosses: Adelheid and Mukai. To fight mid bosses Maki
and Kagura and the last boss
Mukai you must KO Kusanagi with SSM or LSSM. To fight the last boss
Adelheid you must defeat Kusanagi with these conditions:
- win Kusanagi with the help of "Time over" event;
- KO Kusanagi with kick, punch, throw or simple move;
- when you try to perform SSM or LSSM and Kusanagi at the same time strikes
your fighter, both are hit, but only Kusanagi is KO'd.
So, the easiest way to fight mid bosses Maki and Kagura and the last boss
Mukai is to KO Kusanagi with Somersault, Multiple Strike or the last
strike of #5 combo.
**************************************************
6.3. Battling with Maki and Kagura.
**************************************************
Perform Double strike and Multiple Strike as often as possible!!! It is
very hard to fight with Maki and Kagura in close combat. So, if Maki or
Kagura are close to you, evade until King will be far from them and
continue using ranged attacks.
**************************************************
6.4. Battling with Adelheid.
**************************************************
If he is far away, use Double strike. If he is close to King - stay in
block. Adelheid attacks with combos, but he performs throws rarely.
Try to perform Multiple Strike as often as possible.
When Adelheid shoots try to perform #1, #2, #3 or #8 combos as a preeptive
attack. Adelheid badly counters air attack if he has less then 1 full power
line. Adelheid effectively counter air attacks with his SSM.
When Adelheid uses his LSSM sliding attack, use block and counter with #4,
#5, #6, #7, #9, #10 or #11 combos.
**************************************************
6.5. Battling with Mukai.
**************************************************
It is hard to perform ranged attacks upon Mukai, because the stone he
throws absorbs nearly all energy shots and hits King. Even when energy
shots reach Mukai, King will be hited, because when King hoots, Mukai
usually counters with his stone throwing attack. So to beat Mukai it is
better to enter close combat, but in this chapter of King of fighters King
is a long ranged fighter, so a battle with Mukai will be very hard.
But one type of ranged attack is effective agaist Mukai. It is Multiple
strike, so use it as often as possible.
Do not stand, always move and attack, but don't forget to block when it is
necessary. Try to attack, using #2 and #3 combos.
*******************************************************
7. King's win phrases.
*******************************************************
#1. "You're quite a gallant kid, but you need more practice." (If King
from winner's team defeated K', and he was the last KO'd member).
#2. "Oh, you're bleeding. Wipe it off with this."
#3. "Speed isn't the everything. Make the contact count!"
#4. "Fighting is a test of intellect. Prove it? Who won, fool?"
#5. "When you turn 21, come see me. I'll fix you a drink!" (If King from
winner's team defeated a fighter younger than 21, and he/she was the last
KO'd member. These fighters are: Athena, Hinako, Malin, Leona, Shingo).
#6. "Look, game over. Beat it, or I'll boot you into space!"
#7. "Quite a learning experience. Let's do it again next year!"
#8. "I held back, if I didn't you wouldn't be whimpering now!"
