1.Introduction
--------------
It seems only fitting that since I wrote a Clark FAQ,I should also write one
about his best buddy and comrade Ralf, that and Fat Cat Lim and I are seeing
who can post each others' Ralf FAQ up first.Be sure to check his Ralf FAQ
too which can be found at the site where you found this FAQ.Ralf made his
first appearance in the early NES game called Ikari Warriors along side
Clark, then a few years later they made their first fighting game appearance
in KOF'94.You might have read discussions on who is stronger, but presonally
both of them are the same, each with their strong points and weak ones(Clark
is more of a grappler compared to Ralf but he makes up for that with his other
attacks). In the end I guess it's up to you to decide who is better, the guy
with the hat and sunglasses or the guy who looks old fashioned with a
bandana.Enjoy
If you find any mistakes that I might have made or you might have found
this FAQ in another site from the ones listed above, please kindly email
me([email protected])

----------
2.Controls
----------

All are for the left side of the screen
qcf - down,down-forward,forward
qcb - down,down-back,back
hcf - back,down-back,down,down-forward,forward
hcb - forward,down-forward,down,down-back,back
dp  - forward,down,down-forward

The following applies to any character:

Charge
-Hold a direction for 2 seconds

A/B/C/D
-In order light punch, light kick, hard punch etc

xx
-Press two buttons at the same time(like AB)

Dodge(AB)
-It's more of a slide that grants you invincibility for a short time,by
holding back and pressing AB you will do a back dodge. If done while blocking
you will roll away(roll back if you hold back, roll forward if you leave it
neutral/hold forward)from your opponent thus preventing from doing their
attack but it costs one powerstock

Safe Fall(press AB when your just about to hit the ground)
-A quick recovery from a fall.Comes in handy sometimes from the any off the
ground Strikers like Joe

Call Striker(BC)
-Call out your 4th character for assistance

CD attack
-A knockdown attack which can be done in the air.If you do this when blocking
you will knock down you opponent thus preventing them from doing their attack
but it costs one powerstock if you do it and it also does no damage

Throw(when near opponent,forward or back + C/D)
-Throws,who can live without them.If you call out your Striker after a throw
they will knock your opponent into the air leaving you for another hit. This
process takes up one Striker stock and powerstock

Throw escape(tap any button before being thrown)
-Stops a throw period. This year you knockdown your opponent instead of
pushing them away. You can call out a Striker after you knockdown your opponent
for an extra hit. This process takes up one Striker stock

Counter mode(ABC when you have 3 powerstocks)
-A mode in which you can do unlimited normal DMs and more damage for attacks
for a period of time. When the timer runs out,you will not be able to add
anything to your power gauge for about 10 or so seconds

Armour mode(BCD when you have 3 powerstocks)
-A mode in which you will not get into hit stun and do more damage(more than
Counter mode)for a period of time. When the timer runs out,you will not be
able to add anything to your power gauge for about 10 or so seconds

Super Desperation Move(motion of any Desperation Move + AC/BD)
-An enhanced version of one of your DMs,the set damage for a SDM is about
50%.When you finish the SDM you will not be able to add anything to your power
gauge though for about 5 or so seconds

Taunt(press Start)
-Just used to annoy your opponent but this year each time you taunt you are
given an extra Striker stock but it costs a powerstock. Also, you can't just
stop it any time you want like in the other games,so don't do it just because
you felt like unless you feel suicidal. While in Counter Mode(and maybe in
Armour Mode),if you taunt you will also get a Striker stock but that will
decrease the amount of time you have left for the mode(s?)

---------------------------
3.Command and Special Moves
---------------------------

>Command Moves<

Sorry but Ralf doesn't have any Command Moves(it's been like that since KOF94)

>Special Moves<

Vulcan Punch (Press A/C rapidly, tap forward to move)
-Ralf will a lot of fast punches. If it hits it will cause an explosive
effect.Very quick, does two hits if the first one was a counter. You can advance
with this move by holding the joystick forward, but you can't retreat by
holding back

Gattling Attack (Charge back, forward + A/C)
-Ralf will spin forward doing a number of punches. This isn't as good as its
previous versions because if your opponent crouch blocked this, most of the
hits will miss and it would leave you open due to the lag and the lack of
push-back after the move.A version is preferred unless you are sure that the
C version's initial hits won't be blocked

Kyuukouka Bakudan Punch (Chijou) (Charge down, up + A/C)
-Ralf will charge up into the air and then dive down with a explosive
punch.This can hit on the way up(A version 2 hits,C version 3 hits)but if
that happens it won't connect on his way down. On his way down, you must block
high since it's an overhead attack. There is also a version in which you don't
need to charge down(below)

Kyuukouka Bakudan Punch (Kuuchuu) (in air, qcf + A/C)
-This is for those impatient to charge down(or sees an easy hit). What this
move does is just the same as the one above except for the fact that you won't
go up into the air since your already in the air.So that means you don't have
two chances of hitting your opponent. This is also an overhead and must be
blocked whilst standing

Ralf Kick (Charge B/D for a period of time, then release)
-Ralf will tap the ground and then jump up and do a slow spinning kick towards
the opponent. The longer you hold onto the button the more damage it does(it
will max out once you have held the button for about 9 seconds and he will
do it even if you didn't release the button). While holding the button you
can't run or special moves or AB roll(if your holding B)/CD attack(if your
holding D),plus if you do an AB roll/CD attack or any normal attack whilst
holding the button it will have to restart from when you did the attack(eg
you have held it for 5 seconds and you did a normal attack which takes 1.5
seconds to execute, you will have to wait another 3 seconds after that for
the move to be maxed out).I recommend that players don't use this since it
takes too long, only possible time to do this is during a combo

Ralf Tackle (hcb + B/D)
-Ralf will run towards the opponent at stomach level. This move can
deflect(destroy)any/most special projectiles.2 hits from point blank range
and 1 hit from one forth of the screen distance. If done from too far it will
not hit and it will leave you open so it's best done from close range,it does
good block damage but after a number of hits it will stop and the lag from
that will also leave you open.Very good as an anti-air

Super Argentine Backbreaker (near opponent, hcf + B/D)
-What can I say aside from this being one of the best grab moves in the
game.Ralf will pick up the opponent and throw him/her into the air and then
about a second later their back will land on his head causing a bone crunching
sound and then he'll throw them back to the ground(which can be followed by
a Striker). The miss-grab animation is lower this year so if you miss the grab
you have a greater chance of being punished, but this has got greater range(say
about 0.7cm this year compared to 0.5cm)to balance the lag.Excellent
damage, use this to your best advantage(just make sure that his going to grab
the opponent else it might be "byebye" for you)

-------------------
4.Desperation Moves
-------------------
^=Can be done as a SDM
*=Must be done as a SDM

Baribari Vulcan Punch^ (qcf,hcb + A/C/AC)
-This is just an expanded version of his Gattling Attack with a mix of Vulcan
Punch.Ralf will start off with a Gattling Attack and then stand in one place
while doing a lot of punches(fast enough to be blurred),at the end he will
launch the opponent up with one explosive punch
The SDM version of this has more fast punches(lasts an extra 2
seconds)and then at the end he will do the explosive punch but he will also
follow your opponent with a uppercut punch. Both versions does excellent block
damage

Umanori Vulcan Punch (qcb,hcf + B/D)
-Ralf will run forward attempting to tackle down your opponent,if he does
he will punch the opponent several times while their down and he will
concentrate his energy into one punch for his finale.Very good against
jumpers. This might be considered a grab DM but it's _blockable_

SDM Galactica Phantom* (qcfx2 + AC)
-Best way to finish off a combo. When this is executed Ralf will say "Galactica
Phantom" while charging his energy and moments after he will charge at the
opponent with his fist(similar to Terry's Burn Knuckle).Very high damage if
hit, also has autoguard while he's charging for the punch and when his charging
towards the opponent so most of the attacks that's done to him at that time
won't cause damage nor stop him from finishing the SDM(did I also mention
that this is _unblockable_?).

But beware, this does has its downfalls:

1)While your charging your opponent can come up to you and do a normal
throw(ditto when you attack)

2)When you are charging at them with your fist they can AB roll or jump away
from it

3)Your opponent can do a counter move or a command/DM throw when your about
to hit them.Fine examples are Ramon's throw DM(hcbx2 + A/C/AC),Kasumi's
counter DM(qcf,hcb + A/C/AC) or Seth's normal mid level counter(hcf + B)

---------------
5.Striker Moves
---------------

Ralf-He will come in with his air version Kyuukouka Bakudan Punch(in air,
qcf + A/C).Once landed he will follow up with a Galactica Phantom. This is
faster than the one in KOF99 so Ralf can easily connect his Galactica Phantom
after his Kyuukoka Bakudan Punch

Yashiro-He will come in with his qcf + B/D move from KOF98 and then continue
with his hcb + A/C move.Once he is done he will say "bye bye" and then blink
and disappear.Very good since it can pick up opponents on the ground like
Joe(but not as good)and it's a multi hit Striker

--------
6.Combos
--------
Simple and basic combos for you to get started. No Striker combos will be
included since there are a lot of ways in doing a Striker combo, but as usual
if you choose to send me a combo and I've tested it I'll post it up giving
you full credit.

*=Optional

1.Jump C/D*, Standing C _or_ Crouching C, follow with:
-Vulcan Punch (Press A/C rapidly)
-Gattling Attack (Charge back, forward + A/C)^
-Ralf Tackle (hcb + B/D)
-Super Argentine Backbreaker (near opponent, hcf + B/D)^
-Baribari Vulcan Punch (qcf,hcb + A/C/AC)
-Umanori Vulcan Punch (qcb,hcf + B/D)^

Note-Some of these won't combo if done with a Jump C/D, moves that has ^ right
after them are the ones that can be comboed for sure

2.Jump C/D*, Crouching A, follow with:
-Vulcan Punch (Press A/C rapidly)
-Gattling Attack (Charge back, forward + A/C)(It's possible for you to add
an extra Crouching A before executing this)
-Super Argentine Backbreaker (near opponent, hcf + B/D)
-Umanori Vulcan Punch (qcb,hcf + B/D)(Only has a 50% success rate)
