[O1] OVERVIEW & GENERAL STRATEGY                         |
.........................................................

In Stunt GP, you pilot RC cars in multiple modes of racing
around "miniature sized" tracks in various world locations.

As the title of the game implies, these RC cars are capable
of various stunts. The four core stunts are the back flip,
the front flip, the left rotation, and the right rotation.
There are seven other "situational" stunts that are usually
performed with luck.

Just like real RC cars, the vehicles in Stunt GP run off
rechargable batteries. Completing stunts can recharge a
small portion of the battery, but falling of the track,
flipping the vehicle, using turbo, and just regular driving
all exhaust the battery, at different rates of course.
Every track has a "pit lane" above the start/finish for
recharging, accessed by driving up the ramp to the side.

If one runs out of battery, they will travel very slowly
until they are able to recharge. You cannot use turbo
when the battery is low or exhausted, but you can attempt
stunts to recharge a bit. Note that the AI cars have active
battery meters and sometimes they will run out. The
recharging lane will not fully recharge a dead or low battery.

Because of these mechanics, it is possible on many tracks
to avoid having to recharge your battery simply by
successfully completing enough stunts, without messing up
of course.

In addition, doing stunts and simply going airborne will
net you Aeromiles, displayed at the top of the screen,
along with a multiplier (the red lights that turn on as
you complete successive stunts). These serve only to earn
you credits when in Championship mode, and have no other
effect on gameplay.

By pressing X at the "Go" signal at the starts of races,
you can get a boost, without extra battery expenditure.

Note also that there is no manual transmission mode.

[C2] CONTROLS                                            |
.........................................................

The game is not at all clear about the controls, so I will
list them here.

S denotes SQUARE; T denotes TRIANGLE herein!

X...........ACCELERATE
O...........BRAKE
S...........TURBO
SELECT......CHANGE VIEW
PAUSE.......PAUSE GAME
R1..........STUNT
D-PAD L.....STEER LEFT
D-PAD R.....STEER RIGHT
L-ANALOG....STEERING

L1, L2, R2, R3, L3, D-PAD UP, D-PAD DOWN, and R-ANALOG do
nothing.

---[S11] DOING STUNTS-------------------------------------

It is here that it becomes necessary to explain how to do
stunts. You must depress the R1 button and keep it
depressed as you travel up the ramp that you want to stunt
off of. At the same time, you must press the appropriate
stunt button listed below. Basically, have R1 as well as the
correct button both pressed as you come off the ramp.

STUNT BUTTONS:

X.....BACKFLIP
O.....FRONTFLIP
S.....LEFT ROTATION
T.....RIGHT ROTATION

When you want to stop stunting, you can release the button
listed above and the motion will gradually come to a stop -
it will take a short while to get used to the timing required
to stick a good landing. If you keep R1 held, you can also
press a different stunt button to create a mix, such as
stopping mid back flip to start a front flip, etc.

[P3] GAME MODES                                          |
.........................................................

First I will describe the general car unlocks, by mode.
Arcade mode will net you five cars total. Time trial will
net you two cars total. Championship mode will net you two
cars total as well, but you will need to complete the
championship twice to gain access to them both. No cars are
unlocked via Exhibition or Stunt Challenge modes. If you
want to know what cars are unlocked specifically, go back to
the Table of Contents and then to the Unlocks (Specific)
section.

Some tracks are pre-unlocked, but you unlock other tracks
by placing first on them in Arcade Mode.

I recommend unlocking all cars BEFORE playing through a
Championship! Otherwise, you will be left using the
starting cars even at the very end of the championship!

---[E11] EXHIBITION & STUNT CHALLENGE---------------------

There isn't much to say about either of these modes.

Exhibition is your average Single Race mode; just choose
a track and a car and do your best.

Stunt Challenge puts you in a stunt arena and gives you
a time limit to score as many Aeromiles as you can, but
instead of earning credits like in Championship mode,
it's just for fun.

---[T22] TIME TRIAL---------------------------------------

In Time Trial, try to beat the target time on each track
without the constraint of battery life (in other words,
infinite turbo). The target time is represented by a yellow
(TGR) livery ghost that appears after you beat the two
minute "lap record." You'll know when you beat the target
time when you see "Incredible Lap!" appear at the bottom
of the screen.

My recommendation is to first choose Dune Rat and then
Roughdust Flats. Boost around the track constantly to win.

The new car you get should make the rest of the Time
Trial mode very simple, and you should do it - there is
another reward for completing all the tracks.

---[A33] ARCADE MODE--------------------------------------

Every Arcade Mode stint will have four races (if you do
well), although this is not obvious at the start. You
need to finish fourth in the first race; every subsequent
race, you will need to finish third, second, and finally
first for the last one. Note that there are six different
"final races" to choose from, based on your path. You'll
want to eventually complete all of these, as well as all of
the possible races along the way, and remember that you
need to finish first on a track to unlock it.

You must choose an off road (Wild Wheels) vehicle for the
far left path and a speed (Speed Demons) vehicle for the
far right path. I recommend a stunt (Aero Blasters) vehicle
for the four middles paths anyway, although you are able to
mix it up a bit should you choose to.

Remember, you don't need to fulfill all possible paths, you
just need to complete every track at least once.

---[C44] CHAMPIONSHIP--------------------------------------

Championship is essentially the premier mode of Stunt GP,
where you'll be able to upgrade your car and earn credits
as you progress through races. However, I recommend before
starting Championship, you unlock all the cars from Arcade
and Time Trial modes! You cannot purchase cars that you
haven't unlocked... but the AI can, and later cars come
with better upgrade options!

The Championship consists of twenty race rounds for
points, with two bonus stunt challenge rounds thrown in
where you can earn credits (don't sweat them).

You need to complete the Championship at least twice to
unlock two cars. Please check the Unlocks (Specific) section
for the exact details. Hint: one of them involves coming in
second place in something.

The first thing you will choose when starting a new
Championship file is your sponsor...

..[M111] MANUFACTURER CHOICE..............................

Your choice of manufacturer affects three things:

1) The color scheme of your car
2) The amount of credits you get to purchase a starter car
3) The price of car parts/upgrades

Also, for those of you who are nitpicky like me, here is
a list of all the normal AI names for the various
manufacturers (so you can choose the name yourself):

TGR............TGR
R-LINE.........RLN
CALTECH........CAL
MYSUKO.........MYS
ITEX...........ITX
TITAN..........TTN

The color scheme of your cars is roughly equivalent to
that of the logo on the screen where you select your
manufacturer.

Many players are tempted to choose R-Line thanks to the
large amount of credits they start with. Depending on
the cars you've unlocked, R-Line and other high credit
sponsors will have more starting cars to choose from.
However, there is one more benefit to having a sponsor.

Based on your sponsor, you will get discounts, lower
prices on the car upgrades that your sponsor
manufactures:

TGR........Manufactures both frames and drive systems. Both
types of parts are moderately priced.

R-LINE.....Manufactures tires, which are the cheapest parts
in the game.

CALTECH....Manufactures engines, which are the most costly
parts in the game.

MYSUKO.....Manufactures BMS units and stunt boost systems.
BMS units are moderately priced; stunt boost systems are
expensive. The importance of both of these depends on
your play style.

ITEX.......Manufactures gearboxes, shocks, and brakes.
Gearboxes are expensive, brakes are cheap, and shocks are
moderately priced.

TITAN......Manufactures batteries, which are moderately
priced.

Now I will explain what each part does so that you can make
an informed choice and understand what you are doing when
you begin to modify your vehicle.

..[P222] PARTS GUIDE......................................

I'll begin from the top of the "Modify Vehicle" menu and
explain what each part does in the game.

SHOCKS: Dampens the blow of landing from jumps. Some tracks
can get very extreme; without good shocks, your car can
topple over easily upon hard landings or bumps. There are no
detriments to upgrading the shocks, so I recommend it,
especially before getting far into the championship.

BMS: The BMS unit is essentially a Driving Aids option, in
part form. If you really stink at racing games, use the
Mysuko BMS Bypass. If you're decent or the car is too fast
for you, use the Mysuko Mephisto. Experts should use the
Mysuko Diablo Extreme. NEVER use the Mysuko Maxi-Control BMS
or the Mysuko Enhanced BMS! They will slow you down.

BATTERIES: Determines how quickly your battery meter runs
down. Use the best ones you can get. If you're good at
stunting, you may not need to, but there's no detriment.

ENGINES: Affects the speed of the vehicle. Very expensive,
but use the best one you can get.

CHASSIS: Affects the weight and strength of the vehicle;
comes into play when hitting the wall or other cars. The
weight goes down and the strength goes up with upgrades,
so there is no detriment!

BRAKES: Come into play more as you get faster cars and
better engines. If you are using a BMS other than the
Mysuko Diablo Extreme, this upgrade will affect the
effectiveness of that one.

GEARS: Upgrades help the car accelerate faster and
transition more smoothly through gears (less "lag" when
going up a gear). No downside.

BOOST: Speeds up the car's rotation when doing stunts.
It can help you land better, more battery-filling tricks,
but it also becomes harder to time properly as you upgrade.

TIRES: The lowest options provide maximum grip. The highest
options are for those who like to slide around a lot, for
some reason. Never use the Velocity tires, and if you see
a dirt track coming up, use the Maxi Grip.

DRIVE: Changes the drive wheels. Front wheel drives will
be easier to control, at the expense of turning radius.
Rear wheel drives offer less control, but faster times.
Four wheel drive falls somewhere in a happy middle. Choose
the one you like the best.

.........................................................
[U4] UNLOCKS (SPECIFIC)                                  |
.........................................................

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR GAME UNLOCKS. You've been warned!

Time Trial: You can unlock "Forumla 17," an F1 car, by
beating the target time on one track. "Team Machine," a
NASCAR-style racer, is unlocked by beating the time for
every track.

Arcade: The final races (squares) each award a different
vehicle for first place. They are color coded by what
class of vehicle they award. The orange ones on the left
award "Road Hog" and "The Hustler" (Wild Wheels). The green
ones in the center unlock "Flying Mantis" and "Twin Eagle"
(Aero Blasters). The two on the right unlock "Inferno" and
"The Phantom" (Speed Demons). Completing every track on
the map unlocks "Wild Dart."

Championship: There is a bonus round at the end on Freefall
Freeway. You need to finish first in it for the "Worms
Mobile" and second in it for "The Forkster." That's why you
need to do the championship twice.
