-- About Stella Deus ~ Alpha Project --
Stella Deus (an unofficial sequel to Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth) was
developed by Pinegrow, a reconstructed team formerly known as Max Five. Their
latest foray into the Strategy RPG genre excels beyond all expectations and has
consequently received an incredibly warm welcome from the import community.
It features an inspiring storyline filled with political intrigue between
conflicting philosophical paradigms; therefore, it is the intention of this
project to assist import gamers with their comprehension of this tale, filling
in any holes which may result from varying levels of Japanese language ability.
I, Ryan M. Mattich (Shiguma), am currently a Junior at the University of
Washington, diligently working towards the completion of a Double Major in
Economics and Japanese Linguistics. As an avid importer, I enjoy translating
and localizing Japanese RPGs in my spare time (which is relatively hard to
come by, these days). Although I cannot claim fluency in Japanese, I consider
myself to be fairly proficient, having studied the language in various
academic settings for over six years. Hey Atlus... are you hiring translators
sometime in the near future? :)
Special thanks to James Kaufman (

invaluable assistance with this project.
-- Introductory FMV ~ Summary --
Since long ago, the Continent of Levah was blanketed in a white terror known
only as the 'Sea of Nihility.' Slowly, the land was transformed into a vast
desert; everything was swallowed by mist. The world was on the brink of
annihilation. The people molded their fears into insurgence as the world
continued its gradual, yet steady decline.
Through the manifestation of their fears, the Followers of Ekuei established a
doctrine which advocated tranquility, believing the destruction of the world
was God's will. Consequently, they were able to attain a life of peace, but
lost all remaining sediments of hope at the same time. The people were
engulfed with despair.
The religious organization imposed their rule for several hundred years, but
the tide of lassitude was abolished due to the appearance of a man named
Dignis. Adorning himself with the title of 'Supreme King,' Dignis organized
an army and overthrew the Holy Kingdom of Folnare, purging the continent of
ideologies which he vehemently opposed.
And so, the story begins...
--------------------------------- Prologue ------------------------------------
???: As I thought, I cannot see the Spirits.
???: At this rate, the desert will continue its steady expansion.
???: But there's more. The Sea of Nihility will...
???: If we can't... somehow...
Vizer: It's no good...
Vizer: A single man hunting Spirits isn't nearly enough.
Vizer: The Sea of Nihility is quite certainly advancing. I... if I only had
more power...
(Water Gate City: Polta)
Vizer: Training with the sword, as always?
Sfida: Ah, Vizer. Where did you head off to?
Vizer: Minor business, the usual.
Vizer: Regardless, you're still here tirelessly swinging that sword day after
day.
Sfida: It's something my father taught me. I haven't yet reached my
potential.
Sfida: Aren't you exhausted, Vizer? You were up late last night... I saw the
light coming from your room.
Vizer: Even then, the world around us continued to perish.
Vizer: We have no time to relax.
Sfida: Saving the world... do you really think we can do it?
Vizer: If only my Alchemy were complete, we could stop the Sea of Nihility.
Vizer: By doing so, we can restore willpower to those people who have fallen
into a state of despair.
Sfida: Although I don't understand how your Gyurion is going to save this
world, Vizer... I've made my decision. With this sword inherited from
my father, I will serve you.
(A girl's scream is heard in the distance.)
Sfida: What in the world was that?
Vizer: Those are...
Vizer: Sfida, it appears the time to put your sword to use has arrived.
-- Battle 1: Defeat All Enemies --
Croire: Indeed, it appears the rumors were true.
Echidna: They did considerably well. The two of them alone were able to
defeat so many.
Echidna: Ooooh... it gives me chills. How impressive.
Sfida: Who the hell are you?
Croire: My name is Croire.
Croire: Faithful retainer to Supreme King Dignis, Hero of the Last Days.
Echidna: I am Echidna. I, too, serve Supreme King Dignis.
Sfida: You... I've heard the rumors about you.
Sfida: You destroyed the Holy Kingdom of Folnare, seized control over all
neighboring villages, and even slaughtered the innocents who dare not
resist...
Sfida: What business do you have with this village!
Croire: It seems as if we've arrived at a slight misunderstanding.
Croire: Our mission is to liberate the people from lassitude. Such is the
ideal of Superme King Dignis...
Sfida: For your own means...
Echidna: Pardon me, boy.
Echidna: Our errand isn't with you, but with your handsome friend there.
Echidna: Sorry, but you'll have to come back when you're grown up. You're ten
years too early.
Sfida: What! Don't you dare...!
Vizer: Stop it! Sfida!
(The screen goes black, and the sound of clashing swords is heard.)
Echidna: Ooooh... it gives me chills. Your skill with the long sword is
quite impressive, boy.
Echidna: Allow me to correct myself. You're only five years too early.
Echidna: But, it's unfortunate. You don't have those five years, boy.
(Echidna raises her sword to strike Sfida.)
Vizer: Wait!
Vizer: Isn't your errand with me? The child has nothing to do with this.
Echidna: ......
(Dignis enters, Croire bows before him.)
Croire: Lord Dignis, please leave this to me.
Croire: Our purpose is to recover the lost art of Alchemy, a secret technique
developed by the Kingdom of Leukemia.
Croire: In order to bring about the ideals of Lord Dignis, we continue our
research into the matter, Alchemy.
Croire: Upon hearing of an unrivaled Alchemist in this village, we came to
offer him an opportunity, the honor of cooperating with our forces.
Vizer: ......
Sfida: That's ridiculous.
Sfida: There's no way that Vizer would ever cooperate with the likes of you.
Croire: Silence, child! You are in the presence of Lord Dignis!
(Croire takes aim at Sfida with his bow.)
Sfida: !!!
Vizer: I understand. Let us cooperate with the Supreme King's Army.
Vizer: However, if any harm comes to this boy or the townsfolk, I will turn my
secret art against you.
Croire: Child! You have narrowly escaped your death!
Sfida: Vizer, what the hell are you saying!
Vizer: Control yourself. We have no choice but to obey them, now.
Sfida: ......
Sfida: I... I understand.
Vizer: Thank you, Sfida.
Vizer: We will comply with your request.
Croire: Your obedience has spared your lives.
Croire: Your power will serve to bring about the ideals the Supreme King. Let
us return.
Sfida: ......
(Croire leaves, Echidna picks up Sfida's sword and examines an engraving on the
blade.)
Echidna: This character...
Echidna: This katana... it's a toy which exceeds its owner.
Echidna: I'll give you my thanks for letting me use it.
Sfida: That katana was left to me by my father!
Sfida: Who do you think you are!
Echidna: Silence!
Echidna: Regrettably, it shall be returned to you soon enough.
Echidna: That's right. After five years...
Sfida: !! Da... damnit...
Vizer: Sfida. Regardless, you must endure this.
Vizer: There is a more important purpose in store for us.
Echidna: Well then. From here on, it'll be a pleasure to work with you.
(Echidna leaves.)
Vizer: Our current strength isn't enough.
Vizer: Become stronger, Sfida. Stronger, and stronger yet!
Sfida: ...I understand. I believe in you, Vizer...
(End of Prologue - FMV. Prompt to save.)
----------------- Chapter 1: The World Ultimately Losing Color ---------------
(Barrage Castle: Before the King)
Croire: Lord Dignis, our sphere of influence has quite certainly expanded over
the past two years.
Croire: Currently, there is not a single human lacking willpower within Your
Majesty's territory.
Echidna: You're sure working hard. Just like an ant.
Dignis: And the Followers of Ekuei?
Croire: Their founder, Lumen, has been captured. She is being held in
confinement, but has not shown any signs of resistance.
Echidna: Their doctrine is "Final Days of Tranquility," after all.
Echidna: Regardless, the world continues its demise... in five years, ten
years...
Croire: The world will not be destroyed. It's for that purpose that Vizer
continues his research.
Echidna: Heh, and that'll make everything better...
Viper: Hyahahahaha...
Viper: And what good will that do? Until our final moments, I've decided to
live for nothing but amusement.
Croire: Such a mad dog... bark in whatever manner pleases you.
Dignis: Viper, have you found out where he's hiding yet?
Viper: Th, that's going to take a bit of time.
Viper: He won't let us catch up with him easily. Whenever I think he's in one
place, he always turns up somewhere else...
Viper: That rat bastard...!
Croire: That man seems to be causing quite a disturbance.
Croire: As I thought, it appears this is a bit more than you can handle.
Viper: Shut the hell up! I'm already one step ahead of him.
Viper: Besides, I have a secret plan. If he falls for my trap, there's no
mistake about it... I'll be able to annihilate him.
Croire: Oh? Well, shall we hear about these plans?
Viper: A "secret plan" is called as such because it's a "secret," one which
won't be revealed to a bastard like yourself.
Viper: Furthermore, if I kill them all and bring in his head, you'll really
hand Lumen over to me, right?
Viper: Until then, I'll continue to persevere.
Dignis: She will be handed over to you, yes.
Viper: Thank you.
Croire: ......
Echidna: ......
Croire: Oh, Mr. Vizer. How is the research coming?
Vizer: Fairly well.
Vizer: The Gyurion Armaments are ready, and the Gyurion Soldiers have
completed their training.
Vizer: Furthermore, the development of our latest weapon, the Mechanical
Soldier 'Gohre,' has entered the final stages. It will be ready for
deployment into actual combat shortly.
Viper: You sure do talk a lot, eh?
Viper: Is that pile of junk really going to be as useful as you claim?
Vizer: Oh, come now.
Vizer: Even tools of omnipotence could be rendered useless in the hands of an
idiot.
Viper: Bastard! What the hell was that supposed to mean!
Croire: Control yourself! You are in the presence of the King!
Viper: !!
Croire: Certainly, the brilliant expansion of our sphere of influence over the
past two years can be attributed to your Alchemy.
Croire: Even our capital, Barrage, has become truly prosperous.
Croire: However, it would be best not to forget the presence of those who long
for battle and have grown dissatisfied with research alone.
Vizer: Hahahahaha. I'm fully aware.
Vizer: However, my research isn't necessarily limited to average weapons.
Vizer: It will save the world from the continuing advancement of the Sea of
Nihility.
Vizer: Doing so, Your Majesty's reign will last for eternity. I have no time
for playing on the battlefield.
Croire: Pfft. It has already been two years since you've arrived here.
Croire: When do you intend to complete your research? As our current pace,
it'll be too late to save the world from destruction.
Vizer: I'm hurrying. However, I require far more Spirit Power than initially
expected.
Dignis: ...if that's the case, then hunt them.
Dignis: The boy who arrived with you... what the hell is he doing? I don't
care how many men it takes, hunt them, hunt them, hunt them...!
Vizer: It's already been taken care of.
Vizer: A Spirit-Hunting Team has already been assembled and is currently
marching towards the southern district of Tole, a district where nature
still remains.

(Proceed to the Guild to learn about Quests and recruit your first optional
character.)
Guildmaster: Firstly, I'll explain about Quests. When you complete quests,
you can get money or items, or maybe even better things. There
are those that require you to go to some place specific to
complete the quest, and those that don't have a central location.
For the ones that require a specific location, nothing will
happen until you go there. Those are the red and blue icons.
Sometimes, nothing will happen at all until the proper
preparations are made. That all depends on the specifics of the
quest. The other quests occur suddenly when you make an offer at
the guild. Those are the yellow icons. No matter which quest,
you may be prompted to make decisions. The end result will
probably change depending on your decisions. The red icons
require extreme caution. Unlike the others, you will need to
engage in battle. Make sure that you are well-prepared. For
some of the yellow icon quests, you will automatically fail
depending on certain stats. However, you can usually attempt
those multiple times.
Guildmaster: I know it's sudden, but please accept this quest. I'd like you
to speak with the priest over there.
Priest: I'm rather troubled. You see, I was originally a Priest of Ekuei.
Priest: I advocated "Final Days of Tranquility" to the people, under the
teachings of our founder. However...
Priest: I began to not understand such reasoning as, "Destruction is God's
will."
Priest: Certainly, thanks to the Sea of Nihility, the world is drawing nearer
and nearer to destruction by the day.
Priest: But... but on the other hand, life is continuing to be born.
Priest: The world is falling into ruin, everything will come to an end...
but, people are continuing to be born.
Priest: If this is truly destruction, then for what purpose were we born? If
this is truly destruction, why would new life be...
Priest: ......
Priest: Unable to reconcile such contradictions, I relinquished my Priest's
clothes and have been troubled for many days.
Priest: However, I still can't find the answer. Aaah, I don't understand, I
don't understand...
1. Travel together.
2. Such a depressing fellow. Refuse him.
(Although it seemed reasonable to do so for the first one, I won't be providing
any further Quest translations. When ready, proceed to the next area, Eumeneia
Hills.)
???: Yeah, there were Spirits there! Corner them over there!
???: Okay, roger that!
???: There they are!
???: Eh? Where?
???: No! Not over there. Over *there*!
???: Eh? what? Which direction?
???: But they were over that way!
???: Geez, what are you saying?
???: Over here, over there, I have no idea where you're talking about!
???: That's because... ugh, where did they head off to?
-- Battle 2: Defeat All Spirits --
Sfida: You two, what on earth are you doing?
Adonis: Huff... huff... S, sorry. It's all because Gray can't give directions
properly.
Gray: What did you say? You're the one without a sense of direction.
Adonis: Yeah, yeah. I was pretty bad.
Gray: Moreover, the Spirits are cornered precisely where I said they would be.
Adonis: Oh? Cornered precisely where you said, yeah...
Gray: Wha, what's up with you? Either way, let's try and capture the Spirits
quickly.
Adonis: Capture the Spirits... that's right.
(After the battle.)
Gray: ......
Gray: ......
Gray: It's escaping!
Sfida: Wait, Gray!
Sfida: ......
Gray: What are you doing! We let it get away!
Sfida: It's alright, today's spoils are already more than enough.
Sfida: It was only one of them, there's no need to chase after it.
Gray: But we only had five, right?
Gray: Recently, the Spirits have been diminishing in number... the harvest is
inadequate as it is!
Gray: General Vizer has grown relentless, demanding that we bring him more.
Gray: But we always come in last. That's why we're given the short end of the
stick!
Sfida: I get it, I get it. You're saying we'll have to hunt more of them, and
do so more quickly.
Sfida: But, I...
Gray: Christ! Why the hell is our captain such a wimp?
Adonis: Well, well. Looks like things have gotten a bit heated here.
Adonis: He may be the captain, but he's still allowed time to contemplate
things for himself.
Gray: Heh! He's contemplating things, you say?
Gray: What are you talking about? When that Spirit got away, the expression
on his face... he almost seemed relieved by the whole thing.
Sfida: That... that wasn't my intention...
Gray: It's no use feigning ignorance!
Gray: After all, you just displayed the same expression at the mere thought of
what happened.
Adonis: Hmm.
Adonis: As soon as I saw his face, I understood what he was thinking. We know
each other well, eh?
Gray: Wh, what kind of nonsense are you rambling about now?
Gray: It's as simple as this... as I was trying to say, he's nothing but a
wimp.
Sfida: ......
Sfida: In any case, we'll be able to hunt again tomorrow, so I don't see a
need to hurry, that's all...
Gray: You don't see a need to hurry? That's because you're a wimp, like I
said.
Gray: Don't you get it? The Sea of Nihility is advancing steadily.
Gray: While we're absent-mindedly standing around, the world is going to fade
and vanish before Lord Vizer has a chance to save it.
Sfida: But...
Sfida: Some people say that the sudden, aggressive advances of the Sea of
Nihility could be a direct result of our large-scale Spirit Hunts.
Sfida: I wonder if continuing these Spirit Hunts is truly for the best...
Gray: Hey, hey. What's wrong with you?
Gray: Don't you believe in Lord Vizer? Lord Vizer's Alchemy is the only thing
capable of saving the world.
Gray: That's why we're continuing our Spirit Hunts!
Sfida: Of course, I know that! I would never doubt Vizer or anything.
Sfida: Still, I know it will save the world, but to kill so many Spirits...
Adonis: You have a gentle heart, captain...
Adonis: That's right. Although it will certainly save the world, still... the
Spirits have committed no crime against us...
Sfida: ......
Gray: Heh, Adonis defends him, as always.
Adonis: Gray, might you be just a bit jealous?
Gray: Th, that's ridiculous...
Sfida: ...hehe.
Gray: Ugh...
Gray: Fine. We eat various forms of meat in order to live, right? Does it
bring pain to your heart when you eat that meat?
Gray: You're probably thinking about how good it tastes, not feeling sympathy
for the animal.
Gray: In order to save this world, we must conduct Spirit Hunts and not allow
our sentimentality to get the better of us.
Adonis: I understand that, but it may still bring pain to a gentle heart.
Gray: Spirit Power is absolutely essential to us.
Gray: You're able to use your right arm because of... that's exactly why I...
Adonis: Stop it! Don't speak of that!
Gray: I'm sorry... Adonis, I'm sorry... I, I just...
Adonis: It's fine! I don't want to hear any more!
Gray: ......
Sfida: ...Sorry. This is all my fault for being an inadequate captain...
Sfida: There's a village in this area, we should rest for a while.
(Gray and Adonis have joined the party.)
(Moving on to the next area, Mine City: Sakusuume)
Viper: Hyahahaha! Run, run!
Girl: Please! Please, someone help me!
Viper: If you value your life, get the hell out of here!
Girl: I, I can't move... please, please forgive me!
Viper: Christ, you're giving up already, even though it may cost you your
life?
Viper: These lethargic bastards are really quite interesting creatures.
Viper: Hey! I just might be willing to forgive you... in exchange for a
simple apology.
Viper: If you wish to be forgiven, I want to see some sincerity here!
???: What a coward...
Girl: ...with this, will you please forgive me, sir?
Girl: This jewel is something very precious to me.
Girl: It was discovered in an area which has since been engulfed by the Sea of
Nihility. They can no longer be found in this world.
Viper: Hmm, what to do.
Viper: A jewel like this would suit Lumen quite nicely.
Girl: You can have it, so please... spare my life!
Viper: I don't want to!
Viper: Hyahahaha!
Viper: Unfortunately, I can't make a solid estimate, but this jewel is worth
very little at best.
(Viper raises his axe to strike.)
Girl: But, but no...
Girl: Kyaaa~!
???: !!
Sfida: Wait!!
Sfida: What do you intend to do? Release that girl right now!
Viper: Sure, I'll release her.
(Viper slaughters the girl.)
???: !!
Adonis: How heartless...
Adonis: You, do you realize what you've done?
Viper: Hmm? I didn't hear you. What did you just say to me, little worm?
Sfida: Excuse me?
Gray: He, he's...
Gray: Wait! Wait, Sfida!
Gray: He's... n, no... that's General Viper!
Sfida: General? But that bastard just...
Gray: He may be a bastard, but he's still a General. If we stand against him,
we're done for.
Sfida: If he's a General, then what do you suggest we do?
Sfida: Just now, those people who hadn't committed a single crime were...
Gray: General Viper is that kind of guy.
Gray: They say that out of everyone in Dignis' forces, he's nearest to the
brink of insanity.
Viper: What are you whispering about over there? It's hurting my ears, you
little worm!
Viper: What's the matter, why won't you speak up?
Viper: Hyahahaha!
Sfida: Fine, I'll say it loudly!
Sfida: Why did you murder that girl? Wasn't she pleading for her life?
Viper: Hmm? Hey, aren't you bastards also a part of Dignis' forces?
Viper: Heh, I understand. "Death to the lethargic ones."
Viper: You guys didn't do anything at all to prevent this. You were only
concerned about your own survival.
Sfida: That's not true! Wasn't that girl trying to escape a death which was
ultimately inevitable?
Sfida: You can't just go around stealing the lives of people who may or may
not be lacking willpower. It's not that simple. But you...
Viper: What, why don't you go ahead and do it?
Viper: Unfortunately, I don't have time to stand around and socialize with
you.
Viper: This village still has much more treasure to be found. Come on out,
you bastards!
(Viper's henchmen emerge from within the village.)
Viper: How's that?
Viper: I'll give you impertinent brats a thorough demonstration of just how
relentless Viper's forces can be!
Viper: Hyahahaha!
Sfida: I'll never forgive bastards like you!
Adonis: Looks like we have no other choice, Gray.
Gray: Christ, why... why must we deal with this...
-- Battle 3: Defeat All Enemies --
(After the battle.)
Viper: Shit, what a bunch of cowards...
Sfida: Well now, it looks like you're the only one left.
Sfida: Swear that today's incidents will not be repeated. I have no desire
to fight in vain.
Viper: Fight in vain... hyahahaha.
Viper: This fight wasn't in vain. Not to me.
Viper: Nothing feels better than the instant you take a man's life. Those
are true feelings from the bottom of my heart.
Sfida: Don't play around with me!
Viper: I wasn't playing around. I was being completely serious.
Viper: And I'll enjoy taking your lives as well!
Sfida: !!!
Viper: Hyahahaha! Give them to me!
Sfida: You're absolutely mad! I'll never lose to the likes of you!
-- Battle 4: Defeat Viper --
???: I'll lend you a hand.
Sfida: Who are you?
???: There's no time to explain, he's coming!
Viper: Hyahahaha! What's this? Another one has arrived to have some fun?
Viper: Huh? Wait a minute. That girl, could she be...
(After the battle.)
Viper: (There's no mistake about it. That girl is...)
Viper: (But why is she fighting on their side...?)
Sfida: Huff, huff... what's wrong? Are you finished already?
Viper: Hyahahaha! A bad attitude and sassy remarks, is that all you've got?
Sfida: This battle ends here!
???: Such negligence shall be your downfall...
Viper: (...Ah. I get it. She's after blood?)
Viper: (Perhaps, by taking their side, far more blood may be spilled.)
Viper: (As I thought, there's no mistake about it. Just leave this to me...)
Sfida: What's wrong! What the hell are you grumbling about?
Viper: Arrrgghh! Arrrrrrgggghhhh! Damnit! My stomach... it hurts! And at
a time like this...
Viper: It's completely unavoidable. I'll settle this with you next time, boy!
(Viper leaves.)
Sfida: ......
Gray: Wha, what the hell was that?
Adonis: Hmm? Well, either way, it looks like we're in the clear now.
Sfida: Thank you for helping us. My name is Sfida.
Sfida: If you don't mind, would you tell us your name?
???: ......
Sfida: Um, your name...?
???: I actually didn't intend to help you...
???: But I just couldn't let them get away with this.
Sfida: Still, you helped us in the process...
Sfida: We owe you a debt of gratitude.
???: You seem to value the lives of people. But then... why do you hunt the
Spirits?
Sfida: Eh? Why would you ask about something like that?
???: !!
Sfida: Hey, wait!
(The girl leaves.)
Adonis: Looks like she's gone...
Gray: Certainly not a sociable girl...
Sfida: ......
Sfida: Either way, let's head towards the Montana Plateau, as planned.
(Moving on to the next area, Montana Plateau.)
Gray: What are you going to do now, Sfida?
Gray: We managed to strike back against Viper's forces successfully.
Adonis: That's right. And we may not be able to return to Dignis' forces
as a result...
Adonis: But, I feel slightly relieved at the same time. I've grown to dislike
hunting Spirits, these days...
Adonis: That's why I'm not really worried about it. Right, Sfida?
Sfida: ......
Gray: This isn't a matter of likes or dislikes. It's our duty!
Gray: We'll hunt more Spirits and deliver them to Lord Vizer.
Gray: That should help to smooth things over with General Viper.
Adonis: Your heart doesn't feel the slightest bit of pain when you hunt such
cute little Spirits, Gray?
Gray: Cute? Y... you're calling these Spirits cute?
Adonis: What? Not *that* kind of cute.
Gray: Like I said, these problems have nothing to do with emotion.
Gray: It's not that I dislike the Spirits or anything. But, it's necessary
to exploit them if we intend to save the world.
Gray: In order to assist Lord Vizer and enable him to complete his Alchemy...
it would be helpful if we could all get along.
Gray: Furthermore, regarding your arm, Adonis...
Adonis: Gray! Didn't I ask you not to speak of my arm?
Sfida: But, I wonder... can the world truly be saved by hunting Spirits like
this...?
Sfida: (No, I believe him. I believe in Vizer's research.)
Sfida: Let's seal them into the Gyurion.
???: I see...
???: As I thought, you're really going to continue hunting Spirits.
Sfida: You, you're the girl from before...
???: I'm afraid I cannot allow you to continue hunting Spirits like this.
-- Battle 5: Defeat the Mysterious Girl --
(After the battle.)
Sfida: Who on earth are you?
Sfida: You really helped us back there, so why attack us this time around?
???: It's because you were hunting Spirits!
Sfida: We were minding our own business. How has our Spirit Hunt infringed
upon anybody?
???: That's what I'd like to ask you!
???: What do you intend to do with those Spirits?
Sfida: We're conducting Spirit Hunts in order to save the world!
???: Come now, be serious!
???: The world will be saved by Spirit Hunts? Seriously, is that what
you're saying? You should know better than that!
???: Without Spirits, the land will be blanketed in a vast desert and the Sea
of Nihility will continue to advance against us.
???: That's why Spirit Hunts are discouraged these days.
Sfida: ......
Gray: However, even without Spirit Hunts, the Sea of Nihility is still
advancing.
Gray: Standing around with our arms folded will only lead to destruction.
Sfida: That's right... the world will be saved by Vizer's Alchemy.
???: The world will be saved by Alchemy, you say? Please, don't be
ridiculous!
???: The land is degenerating into nothing but desert, the earth is blanketed
in a veil nothingness...
???: It can all be attributed to the Kingdom of Leukemia and their Alchemists'
Spirit Hunts.
???: After the Great War, the few remaining Spirits were no longer able to
support the earth...
???: That's why the hidden techniques of Alchemy were prohibited and Spirit
Hunts were outlawed throughout the land.
???: The only thing Alchemy can accomplish is hastening the destruction of
the world. It certainly can't save anything at all.
Sfida: Vizer said it can be done. Furthermore, I believe in him.
Gray: It's not solely due to belief. It's because there's no other way.
???: As an Alchemist, General Vizer... he does things in his own way.
???: But, isn't he also using Alchemy in order to develop weapons for combat?
Just like her right arm over there...
Adonis: No!
Gray: Do not speak of Adonis' arm!
???: Such anger and sadness...
???: It's because you reject that arm, isn't it?
???: It's because you wish to regain your real one, right?
???: Likewise, if Alchemy could truly save the world, it would not be the
*true* world being saved.
???: It would be nothing more than an imitation!
Sfida: That's not true!
Sfida: Vizer said that he will save the world!
???: But, I don't suppose he mentioned anything about what will become of the
world itself...
???: It's not that he didn't *want* to admit it... it's that he *couldn't*
admit it.
Sfida: No way!
???: As an Alchemist, that man is fully aware that he cannot save the world.
???: He knows that, yet he continues to exploit you for his own means.
Sfida: Shut up! Shut up!
(Sfida raises his sword to strike the girl.)
Everyone: !!!
(He slashes... and cuts her ropes off.)
Sfida: Please... please just leave...
???: ......
???: Please, the Spirit Hunts...
Sfida: I'm finished speaking with you, I will hear nothing more!
???: My name is Ligne... I'm a Spirit Tamer.
Ligne: The world can be saved. If we could only open the 'Spirit Door'...
Sfida: ......
(Mine City: Sakusuume)
Sfida: She called herself Ligne. And said that she was a Spirit Tamer...
Adonis: That's definitely what she said.
Adonis: She spoke of the Great War between the Kingdom of Leukemia and the
Alliance, versus the Kingdom of Mani and the Union of Spirits.
Gray: I was surprised too.
Gray: It seems as if Spirit Tamers still exist in this world after all.
Sfida: After Mani's Union of Spirits were defeated by Leukemia's Alliance,
didn't the Spirit Tamers form an unorganized nation of wanderers?
Adonis: Yeah, I heard they did so in order to protect the few remaining
Spirits.
Sfida: A nation of Spirit Protectors, Spirit Tamers...
Sfida: What we did earlier today... did we really do the right thing?
Gray: Heh, what's that supposed to mean?
Gray: There's no other way. Even if it wasn't right, it's all that remains.
Adonis: What do you mean?
Adonis: So, even though you thought we were making a mistake, you proceeded
forward simply because it's our duty?
Adonis: Personally, when I know something is wrong... I refuse to take part
in it.
Gray: But still...
Gray: We had not yet determined that what we were doing was wrong.
Gray: Protecting Spirits is that girl's duty. Obviously, she hates Alchemy
and everything related to it as a result. She wouldn't even hear us
out.
Sfida: But recently, every last semblance of nature in this area has started
to fade...
Sfida: I wonder if Spirit Hunts could be responsible...
Gray: It's certainly possible.
Gray: But still, the Spirit Power we've gathered is being used by General
Vizer to save the world.
Gray: You said that you believe in Lord Vizer, right?
Sfida: I believe in him! I wanted to be useful to him!
Sfida: I wanted nothing more than to save this world. However, I can't help
but think about the problems that Spirit Hunts may be complicating as
well.
Gray: I like that attitude.
Gray: I, too, cannot stand to think of the impending destruction.
Gray: For instance, I've arrived at a conclusion... I'd much rather live
in an 'imitation world' like the girl described, than a world which
will be ultimately destroyed.
Adonis: Is that so?
Adonis: I have my reservations about an 'imitation world'... especially one
which resembles my right arm. It wouldn't be for the best.
Gray: That's not true.
Gray: We depend on Alchemy to bring prosperity to the world.
Gray: I happen to like your arm... I don't think it's ugly at all. Likewise,
Alchemy enables us to develop powerful weapons.
Adonis: ......
Sfida: The last thing Ligne said...
Sfida: The world could be saved if we could only open the 'Spirit Door.'
Gray: Heh, is that what she said? I don't remember.
Gray: First of all, what the hell is the 'Spirit Door' she speaks of?
Sfida: How should I know?
Sfida: But, it means that there might be another way to save the world...
Gray: So what?
Gray: You'd rather place your faith in that girl's words instead of believing
General Vizer?
Sfida: That's not what I'm...
Gray: You have a close relationship with General Vizer, right?
Gray: I must have missed something here.
Sfida: ...I see. Alright, I've made my decision!
Sfida: We're going to meet with Vizer. We'll try and sort out this dilemma,
together. Doing so, we'll certainly be able to...
Gray: I see. Well, that was relatively quick and easy.
Gray: It might not be particularly efficient. But, if his research is still
in progress, he may be able to clarify things.
Gray: Does that sound good, Adonis?
Adonis: Yeah...
Gray: ...Adonis?
(Moving on to the next area, Montana Plateau.)
Sfida: To save the world...
Viper: What's this? Well, this is certainly unexpected.
Viper: Hey there, shithead!
Sfida: !!
Viper: You're the one who made a fool of me earlier.
Viper: Why don't you explain how a little shithead like you thinks he can get
away with condescending to me?
Sfida: Do you really think I'll lose to you?
Viper: Hyahahaha!
Viper: So you've still got that attitude, I see!
???: ......
???: They've encountered some unexpected difficulties. Perhaps I'll watch for
a little while...
-- Battle 6: Defeat Viper --
Sfida: Are you alright, everyone?
Adonis: Yeah. I wonder if we're wearing him down at all...
Gray: Yeah, same here...
Sfida: Shit! At this rate...
(Viper's reinforcements arrive.)
Sfida: N, no... it can't be...
Viper: Hyahahaha!
Viper: Too bad. Looks like there's nowhere to run.
???: Well isn't this convenient.
(Ligne and the mysterious man arrive.)
???: Spirit Hunters... looks like we have business here as well.
Viper: Hyahahaha!
Viper: Well, if it isn't Seion!
Viper: We know each other very well, it seems.
Seion: I have no desire to get to know a bastard like yourself...
Viper: Hyahahaha.
Viper: At this point, that's not exactly something that can be helped.
Seion: Unfortunately, I have no time to stand around socializing with the
likes of you.
Seion: Please leave this area immediately.
Viper: What!
Seion: Whoa... be careful, everyone can hear your barking.
Viper: Hmm?
Seion: You're already completely surrounded by our brethren.
Viper: You... you're joking!
Seion: I have business with those young men over there.
Seion: If you comply with our requests and leave this area, no harm will come
to you. What do you say?
Viper: (Hahahaha... even though he has the chance to kill me right now.)
Viper: (It's somewhat hard to stomach, letting him have his way... but he's
exposed himself, he's out in the open.)
Viper: (Next time, I'll capture him for good.)
Viper: Heh, I understand. In fact, I'll forgive you for what's happened here
today.
Seion: Hmph... you're an unpleasant sight. Get the hell out of here.
Viper: Da, damnit! Mark my words, I won't forget this!
Viper: (Argh, I said it...)
(Viper leaves.)
Seion: My name is Seion.
Gray: Seion? Where have I heard that name before...
Adonis: Oh! Could it be...
Adonis: Yeah, that's right! Seion, Prince of the Holy Kingdom of Folnare!
Sfida: Prince?
Seion: Yes... I am the last remaining member of the Folnare Royal Family.
Seion: I understand that conflicts have arisen over this matter some time
ago, but I have business with you, as Spirit Hunters.
Seion: If we are not met with resistance, we have no intention of hurting you.
Gray: You know... I've heard of you before.
Gray: People say that you're organizing a resistance movement against the
Supreme King's Army.
Sfida: Prince Seion, why do you hold company with a Spirit Tamer?
Gray: We're the Superme King's Army Spirit Hunting Squad.
Gray: That explains why they have business to settle with us...
Seion: Are we finished speaking?
Sfida: We understand. We'll discard our weapons.
Adonis: What ever shall become of us?
Gray: It appears that our lives will remain intact... at least for the time
being.
Seion: Alright. Let us return with them.
(Meanwhile...)
Viper: I see...
Viper: So that's where the bastards have been hiding... Good, let's flush
them out.
Viper: Regardless, they're finally beginning to expose themselves...
Viper: Christ, they really are a bunch of rat bastards...
Viper: (This time, my forces had better not let them escape.)
Viper: (If they do, it will postpone the day when I finally get my hands
on Lumen.)
Viper: Alright, you bastards! Move out!
(Prompt to save.)
(Secluded Village of Spirit Tamers: Gura)
Sfida: Where on earth could we be?
Gray: It's hard to say, considering that we were blindfolded the entire time
during transportation.
Gray: More importantly, are you alright, Adonis?
Adonis: Yeah, I'm alright. But, I can't help but wonder what's going to
become of us...
???: As long as you're obedient, we have no intention of hurting you.
Gray: It's you...
Sfida: Ligne...
Ligne: There's someone I'd like you to meet.
Elder: First of all, I'd like to thank you for providing assistance to our
Princess.
Sfida: Princess?
Elder: That's right. We are in the presence of Lady Ligne, Princess of the
Nation of Mani.
Elder: As an expression of our gratitude, you shall be released.
Gray: Are you serious?
Elder: However, there is one condition.
Sfida: Condition?
Elder: Yes. From here forth, we would like you to stop hunting Spirits.
Sfida: But...
Sfida: We have conducted Spirit Hunts in order to save the world. If we were
to stop, it would certainly...
Elder: Do you really think that this world can be saved by means of Spirit
Hunts?
Sfida: If there was only another way...
Elder: By releasing the Power of the Spirits...
Elder: They would be able to protect this world from the Sea of Nihility.
Elder: If the Spirits were able to assemble and release their Power, we could
certainly stop the advance of the Sea of Nihility.
Elder: In order to be successful, we require a method of summoning a great
number of Spirits.
Elder: What would you like to see happen to this world?
Sfida: The Power of the Spirits could stop the Sea of Nihility... the world
could be saved...
Gray: Heh, well that certainly sounds promising, doesn't it?
Elder: Come now, don't jump to conclusions.
Elder: Allow me to speak of the legends of this continent, which have been
passed down for generations...
Sfida: Please, go ahead and speak of these legends.
Elder: In the beginning, our world was created from the Sea of Nihility.
Elder: God began by erecting four pillars.
Elder: These four pillars were linked together, resulting in vast energy
emissions from which the continents were constructed.
Elder: Pleased with their ever-expanding world, the people were determined to
express their appreciation. They reciprocated by founding a system of
faith.
Gray: This was the Kingdom of Folnare, right?
Elder: Precisely.
Elder: By the grace of God, the world was blessed and the Kingdom of Folnare
flourished in an era of prosperity.
Elder: However, such prosperity ultimately failed to live up to the Blessed
Kingdom's expectations. Conflict erupted throughout the land.
Elder: It was called the Era of Bloodshed. The world was consumed by despair.
Sfida: Such conflicts are certainly...
Elder: A single man witnessed those tragic events.
Elder: He was not only our ancestor, but a great Spirit Tamer as well, King
Mani.
Elder: Imitating God, the King sought Four Powers and was determined to break
through the prosperous realm.
Sfida: Four Powers?
Elder: The world was governed by Four Spirits. The King sought these powers
in order to save the world.
Elder: Calling upon a great number of Spirits, he discovered a way to break
through the Sea of Nihility.
Elder: He constructed the 'Spirit Door'...
Elder: And by summoning a great number of Spirits, he was finally able to
repel the Sea of Nihility. He opened the door to a new world.
Sfida: So, if we could only open that door once more, the world might be
saved!
Ligne: That's right.
Gray: So, what's the problem?
Gray: Why not pick up the pace and open this 'Spirit Door'?
Ligne: That's what we intend to do! But there are several obstacles we have
to contend with.
Gray: Obstacles?
Ligne: Yes. Spirit Hunters who don't realize the harm they're bringing.
Sfida: ......
Elder: The Supreme King has brought about a state of disorder which is
becoming increasingly dangerous.
Elder: First of all, we must overthrow the Supreme King and return things to
the way they were.
Elder: In order to do so, we're currently cooperating with Mr. Seion.
Elder: This has become rather lengthy, but I do hope you understand...
Sfida: I just...
Elder: Go ahead, it's alright.
Elder: Take as much time as you need.
Elder: If you can give us your assurance that you won't try to escape, we'll
go ahead and prepare your room.
Sfida: I understand... please let me think this over for a while.
Elder: That's fine. Well then, I'll lead you to your room.
(Prompt to save.)
(Barrage Castle: Courtyard)
Croire: We've been remarkably patient... has it finally been completed?
Vizer: No. Some final adjustments are still necessary.
Vizer: However, I was considering providing a demonstration of this mechanical
soldier's abilities.
Dignis: ......
Croire: That's fine. Well, let's see what it can do.
Vizer: As your master commands, destroy that statue!
(Gohre destroys the statue.)
Croire: Oh my... that's magnificent.
Viper: What's all the commotion about? Is that cheap pile of junk really so
great?
Croire: What's wrong, Viper? Have you brought us Seion's head yet?
Viper: Well, th, that's...
Croire: Hmph. I'd say it's rather impressive... compared to your big mouth.
Viper: (Christ! Condescending to me again... but, I'll endure it.)
Viper: (Now that the bastards have exposed themselves, I'll finally be able
to seize Seion's head.)
Viper: But, there's one thing that you're mistaken about.
Viper: I've set a trap for those bastards. Once they're caught, they'll be
annihilated.
Croire: Trap? What kind of trap could you have possibly set?
Viper: Hey, hey. That's not something you need to know.
Viper: But, in order to annihilate those bastards, I'm going to need a few
more soldiers.
Viper: How many can we spare?
Dignis: Take as many as necessary to accomplish the task.
Viper: Th, thank you.
Croire: But, Lord Dignis...
Dignis: Vizer. This mechanical soldier, Gohre... when will it be complete?
Vizer: Just a few more days.
Dignis: As soon as it has been completed, begin mass-production immediately.
With enough of these, we'll have no need for ordinary soldiers.
Dignis: Fwahahahaha!
(Dignis leaves.)
Croire: Lord Dignis seems rather satisfied.
Croire: Finish the development process quickly!
(Croire leaves.)
Viper: Hey!
Viper: If it's alright, would you let me borrow him for a while?
Vizer: Gohre...?
Viper: Yeah, that's right. I'd like to witness his destructive power with my
own eyes.
Viper: Seion's forces would be easily crushed by him.
Vizer: It's impossible. Unfortunately, Gohre's final adjustments are still
incomplete.
Viper: Come on, don't say that to me.
Vizer: ...I'll allow you to take him there. But only this one time.
Vizer: I'll also require that one of my subordinates accompany you along the
way.
Viper: Have it your way, I don't care.
Viper: Hyahahaha! Lumen will be mine sooner than I thought...
Viper: I can envision him writhing in the flames of battle...! Hyahahaha!
(Ekuei Place of Worship: Third Floor)
Prier: But, you can't come in... this is Lady Lumen's room...
Viper: Hyahahaha. Don't be ridiculous.
Viper: One way or the other, Lumen shall belong to me.
Prier: ......
Viper: Hehehehehe. Looks like I've caught up with him at last, Lumen.
Viper: Your beloved Seion.
Lumen: ......
Viper: Today, I was only able to bring back this small jewel... but you just
wait...
Viper: Next time, I'll bring back an even better present for you.
Viper: The head of your beloved Seion.
Viper: Then you'll be mine at last. Keep looking pretty for me!
Viper: Hyahahaha!
Lumen: ......
(Secluded Village of Spirit Tamers: Gura)
Soldier: According to Lord Seion's report from the front lines...
Soldier: Viper's forces are accompanied by a mechanical soldier, a new design
produced by means of Alchemy.
Ligne: A weapon produced by means of Alchemy...
Soldier: That's right. They call the mechanical soldier 'Gohre,' and its
destructive power is truly overwhelming.
Soldier: It easily broke through our defensive line in the last battle.
There's not enough time to...
Elder: Argh, what a mess. I suppose there aren't many soldiers remaining in
the village...
Elder: If there was only another way, aside from calling upon the Power of
the Spirits...
Ligne: We can't! Doing so would only serve to repeat the mistakes of the
past.
Ligne: The time to call upon the Power of the Spirits has not yet arrived.
It's alright. I happen to know of some soldiers who could provide
assistance.
Elder: Impossible, do you honestly intend to utilize them...? It's hard to
say whether or not they'll be willing to cooperate...
Ligne: There's no other way. No matter what happens, I must try to persuade
them into cooperating with us.
(Secluded Village of Spirit Tamers: Single Room)
Soldier: I... I have my reservations about this, Princess.
Soldier: Although they've been provided with a room here, it doesn't change
the fact that they're still prisoners! The odds are slim, but if
something were to happen to you...
Ligne: Step aside! I must speak with them!
Soldier: Understood! Princess!
Ligne: ......
Gray: Oh, it's the Princess?
Gray: We've grown restless and long for the outside world... for what purpose
do you keep us in such a room?
Ligne: Don't fool around! I must speak with you.
Sfida: What is it...?
Ligne: Come with me. We need to borrow your strength.
Sfida: Borrow our strength?
Ligne: Somehow, the Supreme King's Army has managed to locate our secluded
village...
Ligne: I've received a report which indicates that one of their units is
currently heading in our direction.
Gray: Hah, so you're proposing a temporary alliance in order persuade us into
fighting? You've got to be kidding.

Ligne: Alliance? You were the one who stood against the General, were you
not?
Ligne: I can't imagine that the Supreme King's Army would be willing to
forgive a traitor. Besides, the unit is being commanded by that Viper
guy.
Gray: General Viper is...
Ligne: He's an inhumane, heartless man... you know that very well.
Ligne: I want to protect this village, no matter what the cost. I cannot
allow him to do whatever he pleases with my people.
Sfida: ......
Gray: Hah, so what are you trying to say?
Gray: Why should we fight in order to protect this village? It's certainly
not our responsibility.
Ligne: In order to atone for your Spirit Hunts... which probably doesn't
matter to you one way or the other.
Sfida: ......
Ligne: I understand. What conditions will you require in order to lend us
your assistance?
Gray: Hey there, are you trying to change the subject?
Ligne: Not at all, we shall resume our previous discussion.
Ligne: Come, let us be reasonable with each other. Moreover, I'd like you to
witness the terror of Alchemy firsthand.
Sfida: The terror of Alchemy? What are you talking about?
Ligne: The unit heading in our direction has deployed a new weapon, produced
by means of Alchemy.
Ligne: Sfida. Because he is a man you've come to respect and trust, I think
it would be best for you to witness with your own eyes what Vizer has
created.
Sfida: What Vizer has created...
Adonis: ......
Sfida: I understand. We shall accompany you there.
Sfida: However, I have several conditions as well. If we are persuaded to
form a temporary alliance...
Ligne: Persuaded?
Sfida: It will not be necessary to eliminate every soldier under Viper's
command.
Sfida: Those men are merely following orders. First and foremost, we will
strive to defeat Viper himself.
Sfida: If we are successful, I imagine many of his soldiers will surrender
without further bloodshed.
Ligne: ...Do you really think that the events will play themselves out so
ideally?
Sfida: Of course! Nobody likes to fight!
Ligne: ......
Ligne: Understood. I have no problems with these conditions. First of all,
we'll return your weapons to you. As soon as you've made preparations,
prepare for immediate departure!
(Ligne has joined the party. New equipment has arrived at the Shop.)
(Moving on to the next area, Alush Swamp.)
Seion: What kind of power could this be...
Seion: It's hard to believe that Dignis has been developing such a thing...
Alchemist: Alright, I've gathered all the necessary data. We must return
quickly and provide Lord Vizer with the report...
Alchemist: As your master commands, destroy everything in sight!
Sfida: What in the world is that thing?
Adonis: ......
Ligne: It's exactly as I described.
Ligne: This is Alchemy, after all... it's capable of nothing beyond hurting
people.
Sfida: That's not true! It's not always like that!
Ligne: We can argue about this later! If we don't hurry and help Mr. Seion...
Sfida: ......
Sfida: There's no other way. Let's do this!
-- Battle 7: Defeat Mechanical Soldier 'Gohre' --
(After the battle.)
Ligne: Mr. Seion, are you injured?
Seion: I'm alright.
Seion: But, how were you able to convince them to help...?
Ligne: They were released and cooperated with us in accordance with specified
conditions.
Seion: I see, so that's what happened...
Gray: What in the world was that thing? That monster...
Seion: Mechanical Soldier 'Gohre.' That's what they called it.
Seion: Perhaps, it was created by combining the Essences of Alchemy... the
Supreme King's Army's latest weapon.
Adonis: Mechanical Soldier 'Gohre'... Essences of Alchemy... latest weapon...
Gray: Have we really destroyed our comrade's latest weapon...
Seion: Despite being their latest weapon, it's still incomplete.
Seion: When it's finally completed and mass-production begins, they'll have
raised the stakes of battle quite effectively.
Ligne: That's right. That's the true form of Alchemy.
Ligne: It's exactly like I thought, Alchemy is capable of nothing beyond
destruction and slaughter.
Sfida: It, it can't be...
Sfida: Vizer couldn't have constructed such a thing...
Ligne: That's exactly what he did.
Ligne: There's no way that Alchemy could ever save this world.
Ligne: Heh, as if they were true... he only said those things in order to
persuade you into working for him.
Sfida: That's not true! It's not like that at all!
Seion: It's not? Well, who's responsible for the development of that weapon?
Sfida: I... I know that. But, I still don't understand this at all.
Sfida: The Vizer I know... he isn't the kind of man who would create such a
weapon.
Ligne: ......
Ligne: Regardless, you still want to save the world, right?
Sfida: Well, yeah...
Seion: Speaking of saving the world, there's something we need to discuss.
Seion: Viper and his soldiers are already marching towards the Toura Plateau
as we speak.
Seion: We may have eliminated the original 'Gohre,' but we're still backed
into a corner by that bastard's main forces.
Seion: Even if we were fully prepared for the worst, the enemy reinforcements
are relentless and unyielding.
Seion: What shall we do, Ligne? Do you think we could launch a surprise
attack?
Ligne: It's dangerous, but if we had you on our side, Seion...
Seion: There's no need to worry about that. I don't intend to allow Viper to
get away with this.
Seion: Viper's ruthless mob shall proceed no further.
Seion: If we're able to defeat that bastard, I expect that most of the
soldiers are likely to surrender to us.
Ligne: ...I understand.
Ligne: Let's travel there together, as we had planned.
Ligne: Sound good, Sfida?
Sfida: Understood! To protect our promise...
(Seion has joined the party. Moving on to the next area, Toura Plateau.)
Seion: The enemy headquarters are straight ahead!
Seion: Viper is somewhere within! Let us break through the enemy lines!
-- Battle 8: Defeat All Enemies --
(After the battle.)
Viper: Hyahahaha!
Viper: Well, if it isn't Seion! I've gone out of my way to assemble these
soldiers to prevent you from escaping again!
Viper: But you've managed to come this far and stand shamelessly before me.
Have you already surrendered?
Viper: Hyahahaha!
Seion: Hmph... what are you talking about?
Seion: You bastard, you're free to do whatever you want... I won't run and
hide.
Seion: However, I've grown tired of looking upon that detestable face of
yours. Right here, right now... I'll bid you farewell.
Viper: How dare you condescend to me again!
Viper: You bastard, I was able to track you down and finally catch up with
your ass, wasn't I?
Viper: It was all for the sake of your beloved Lumen!
Seion: Lumen... Lumen...
Seion: Don't you dare defile her name, you son of a bitch!
Viper: Hyahahaha! What a priceless expression on your face!
Viper: Hehehe. To spill the blood of Prince Seion... such a beautiful sight.
Viper: I'll return with your severed head as a present for Lumen!
-- Battle 9: Defeat Viper --
(After the battle.)
Sfida: You're finished, Viper.
Viper: What the hell... I was defeated by a bunch of shitheads...
Viper: Damnit, my leg... there's no strength left in my leg...
Sfida: What could you possibly do with a wound like that?
Viper: Hehehehehe. Haven't I mentioned it...? My axe isn't some ordinary
weapon. It's special...
Viper: I'll kill every last one of you. I'm truly invincible...
Sfida: What the...?
Viper: (Lend me your strength.)
Viper: (Come now... let's slaughter those bastards and spill their blood.
What? Is that acceptable?)
Viper: Don't fuck with me!
Viper: Stop complaining and lend me your strength, quickly!
Sfida: What the hell is he grumbling about?
Viper: Hey, don't do that! You bastard! What do you think you're doing!
Viper: Ar, argh... come on, comrade! You've assisted me this far... right?
Right? St... stop!!
Viper: Guwaaaaaaaaaaah!
Sfida: What's wrong with him?
Viper: Gyaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Viper: Pl, please help me!! Gyaaaaaaaaaaaah!!
(Viper is consumed by blue flames and vanishes. Sfida motions toward the axe.)
Seion: Don't touch it!
Seion: It would be best to leave that axe alone...
Seion: His final moments were quite appropriate, I'd say...
Sfida: That axe... what on earth it is?
Seion: A weapon which was most likely cursed.
Seion: I've heard of such weapons many times throughout my travels across
the continent.
Sfida: Cursed weapons...
Ligne: Your promise has been fulfilled, Sfida. You're officially free to go.
Sfida: Ah. That's right.
Ligne: Can I ask you something?
Ligne: What do you plan to do from here on?
Sfida: ......
Sfida: I want to return and meet with Vizer. There are several things
I want to clarify with him.
Ligne: I see...
Ligne: But, what if General Vizer doesn't intend to save the world after
all... what would you do?
Sfida: It can't be true!
Sfida: At least... I can't imagine it being true...
Sfida: But, if it were indeed the case, I'd try to think of another way to
save the world myself...
Ligne: For that reason, would you mind if I came along with you?
Sfida: Huh?
Ligne: If you are able to understand that Alchemy is incapable of saving the
world...
Ligne: Yet, you still desire to save it yourself, I'd like you to lend us
your strength. To pursue the method we have previously described.
Sfida: The 'Spirit Door'... do you really believe in that legend?
Ligne: The Spirit Door most certainly exists.
Ligne: I am determined to open the Spirit Door and attempt to save the world.
Sfida: But, why are you interested in me? You already have a great number of
followers, don't you?
Ligne: Well...
Ligne: I imagine the Elder would never forgive me for this...
Sfida: We've already defeated Viper. We're already become deplorable
traitors.
Sfida: If we could only survive far enough, we could seek refuge in Vizer's
'Place of Worship'...
Seion: !!
Ligne: I have no problems with that.
Ligne: I'll never have a second chance to slip out of this village unnoticed.
Ligne: If I don't leave now, I'll never be able to search for the Spirit Door
until it's already too late.
Ligne: Besides, I've already made my decision. I'm going with you.
Seion: Wait a minute. Did you just say, 'Place of Worship'?
Sfida: Yeah.
Seion: In that case, would you mind if I accompanied you as well?
Ligne: What?
Seion: Although I'm somewhat concerned about Dignis' Army, I also happen to
know a way to slip into the Place of Worship.
Gray: But, why do you feel the need to accompany us?
Seion: I intend to rescue Lumen from the Place of Worship.
Adonis: Lumen? Lumen, as in the founder of the Ekuei Religion?
Seion: That's right. My beloved Lumen...
Gray: Hah, rescuing a single girl? What kind of objective is that?
Seion: Silence! What the hell do you know!
Seion: Lumen means everything to me...
Seion: It's my one and only objective. No matter what the cost, I must rescue
my beloved Lumen.
Seion: If you've set your sights on the Place of Worship, I'd say this is a
very good opportunity for you.
Seion: I shall free Lumen with my own hands!
Adonis: ......
Seion: Besides, Ligne.
Seion: Lumen has the potential to greatly influence the outcome of this war.
Seion: If the founder of the Ekuei Religion were leading our forces, it
would certainly increase morale among the soldiers.
Seion: Her strength and ideology will radiate across the land, and many people
who agree with her will step forward to join us.
Seion: And then, when we rise to action... we'll finally be able to turn
the tables against them.
Ligne: If that's what you believe, then it shall be so...
Sfida: Yeah.
Sfida: As long as we're able to slip into the Place of Worship, I have no
problems with whatever you choose to do afterward.
Gray: Oh brother, what a mess we're getting dragged into...
Adonis: Come on... don't complain, don't complain...
Seion: Alright! We'll begin by setting our sights on the Waterside City
of Hyudol.
(Prompt to save.)
--------------------- Chapter 2: The Saint of Atonement ----------------------
(Ekuei Place of Worship: Third Floor)
Lumen: ......
Dignis: Absolutely disgusting. Continuing to devote yourself to prayer?
Lumen: ......
Dignis: It doesn't matter how much you pray, God will not extend a hand to
help you.
Lumen: I am not seeking God's help.
Lumen: I merely believe in the existence of God. Therefore, I devote myself
to prayer in order to hear his voice...
Dignis: And what message has 'God' delivered? Aside from "Final Days of
Tranquility," that is?
Lumen: ......
Dignis: "Final Days of Tranquility"... such things will never come.
Dignis: The destruction of this world is ultimately dependent upon our own
actions.
Dignis: People need to make reparations for their own shortcomings.
Lumen: ......
Lumen: As humans, we have alienated ourselves from God... a sin, one which God
continues to lament.
Dignis: And, for that reason, he intends to destroy our world...
Dignis: Absolutely laughable! However, I refuse to comply with the will of
God.
Lumen: That's exactly right. Your existence does not comply with the will of
God.
Lumen: If you insist upon standing against him, you will receive divine
punishment.
Dignis: Punishment...? You wish. I'm not afraid of your God.
Dignis: That's enough. I will show no respect to your false idols.
Dignis: While you're here, you're going to become closely acquainted with
the reality of your situation.
Dignis: Starting with, "Final Days Without Tranquility," fwahahahaha...
Ligne: God's desire is, "Final Days of Tranquility"...
Ligne: However, as Supreme King, you are returning willpower to the people
by imposing a reign of terror upon them.
Ligne: God, please answer my prayers, somehow...
(New equipment has arrived at the Shop.)
(Cave of Trials can now be accessed through Floor 25.)
(Moving on to the next area, Waterside City: Hyudol.)
Echidna: Ooooh! It gives me chills!
Echidna: I can't believe it, are you really bringing me the thing that we've
been searching for?
Echidna: As I thought, this meeting was truly destined.
???: Heh. I'm a bit worried that you've forgotten about our promise...
Echidna: Yes, I'm aware of that...
Echidna: You'll receive your compensation as soon as you've retrieved the item
and brought it before my eyes.
???: Heh. I understand.
Echidna: But more importantly, we'll have to deal with him first.
Echidna: Should I really entrust this task to you, Jade? If this were to fall
through, then...
Jade: Hey now, it's money, it's money. Don't worry about a thing.
Jade: I always work hard for my compensation.
(Echidna leaves.)
Jade: ...isn't that right?
Jade: Why don't you just hand that over to me, nice and easy...
???: ......
(The mysterious man defeats two soldiers in a single blow.)
Jade: Heh. Impressive work... nearly split them in half, it seems.
Jade: I should just give up. For an impoverished fellow like myself to deal
with this kind of shit...
Jade: Heh. Perhaps, I should have charged a little bit more for this...
???: ......
Jade: Well, I suppose the price of money is high. There's nothing I can do
about that...
Jade: I'm going to ask you one last time... will you hand it over to me, nice
and easy?
???: ......
Jade: Ah, I see. Oh brother... come on out, you bastards!
Jade: Although I wanted to resolve this situation as peacefully as possible...
Jade: I'm afraid things might become a bit painful for you.
Sfida: You! What are you intending to do with that man!
Jade: Christ, what the hell is this? It looks like a bunch of meddlers have
arrived.
Jade: Hey kids! This has nothing to do with you, so why not do us both a
favor and take your unnecessary meddling elsewhere?
Jade: Besides, you saw what just happened... he killed those two men! So, why
treat me like the bad guy?
Sfida: Well...
Sfida: Although I saw what just happened, I can clearly see that you're
trying to pick a fight with that man.
Jade: Heh... what the hell are you talking about?
Sfida: Besides, who you were just talking to...?
Sfida: That was Echidna, wasn't it? If you have any relation to her, this
incident isn't something that I can let slide.
Jade: Oh? Is that so?
Jade: Yeah, I have an arrangement with that woman. She's compensating me for
my work. Christ...
Jade: Unfortunately, I don't have time to stand around.
Jade: If you insist upon interfering with this, I'm afraid things might become
a bit painful for you as well...
Jade: So, will you be able to let this slide...?
Sfida: Hell no!
Jade: Ah, I see.
Jade: You're quite strange, quite strange indeed.
Jade: It appears that things have become rather heated, this time.
Jade: Oh brother, I knew I should have charged more for this...
-- Battle 10: Protect the Mysterious Man --
(After the battle.)
Jade: Well done. You're rather skilled with the sword, it seems.
Sfida: What the hell are you grumbling about?
Sfida: What relationship do you have with Echidna? And what are you guys
trying to accomplish?
Jade: Heh, I refuse to entertain this conversation any further.
Jade: Unfortunately, I'll be taking my leave now!
Sfida: So, you think you can get away that easily, do you?
Jade: Heh, you're right. Hey, big guy!
???: ......
Jade: Yeah, that's right, you!
Jade: Although I'll be leaving now, next time... next time, I'll be taking
what I need from you. Until then... don't go and die on me!
Jade: Later.
(Jade leaves.)
Sfida: Wait! Damnit...
Adonis: Hey, were you alright back there?
???: ......
Sfida: With skills like yours, it didn't seem like you needed our help at all!
???: ......
Gray: Hah, you know... you could try saying something?
Adonis: Stop that, Gray! That's disrespectful!
Sfida: But, why were those bandits harassing you like that?
???: ......
Sfida: Ah... I'm sorry. My name is Sfida.
Sfida: Perhaps you're unable to speak of those strangers right now...
???: ......
Sfida: The girl you were talking with is someone I know, that's all...
Sfida: We apologize for intruding. Well, I guess we'll be going now...
???: Gallant...
Sfida: Eh?
Gallant: My name is Gallant.
Gallant: Their objective... is to obtain my axe...
Sfida: They're trying to take away your axe?
Gray: Hah, he's finally spoken, but we have no idea what he's saying...
Gray: They're trying to take away that rusty old axe of yours?
Gallant: ......
Gallant: This axe is a Scared Treasure... it was passed down by my family for
many generations...
Ligne: Sacred Treasure?
Gallant: That's right. Since the days of old, my family has safeguarded this
Legendary Axe.
Sfida: Legendary Axe? Could that be anything like...
Gallant: Long ago, the world was dominated by a God of Destruction who
ruthlessly imposed his will upon the people. Those who opposed him
eventually confronted the God and were able to defeat him. The
weapons used to do so became known as the Legendary Weapons.
Sfida: I wasn't aware that such Legendary Weapons truly existed...
Seion: Such weapons are also described throughout the historical documents of
my Royal Family.
Seion: This is rather unexpected, but I suppose the axe Viper had was one of
such weapons.
Gallant: Axe? Do you know of another man who wields an axe?
Sfida: Yeah, a man named Viper. He's a General in the Supreme King's Army...
Sfida: But, the axe he had was rather strange.
Gallant: Where is this man right now?
Sfida: Actually, he's dead.
Sfida: In the aftermath of our battle against him, that axe seemed to absorb
all of his remaining strength...
Gallant: I see... and where is this man's axe right now?
Sfida: We had a bad feeling about the whole thing, so we didn't touch the axe.
Sfida: I suppose it's been covered by the earth which became his grave.
Gallant: That place... can you tell me how to get there?
Sfida: Toura Plateau, it's south of here. But, why are you interested in
going there?
Gallant: To make amends for the trespasses of my brethren.
Gallant: The truth of the matter... is that a traitor had appeared in our
midst. He possessed one of the Sacred Treasures and managed to
deceive us all.
Sfida: Is that so...
Sfida: If you'd like, we can take you there ourselves...
Seion: Unfortunately, we don't have time for that, Sfida.
Ligne: That's right. If we don't move quickly and locate the Spirit Door...
Sfida: I'm aware of that. However, I still haven't determined whether or not
I want to continue searching for the Spirit Door.
Gallant: (...Spirit Door...)
Sfida: Well, I guess that's that. Please forgive us for intruding...
Gallant: Wait a minute. Would you allow me to join you on this journey?
Sfida: Eh, are you sure it's alright? I thought you wanted to search for the
Sacred Treasure...
Gallant: The Sacred Treasures are certainly important, but that which you've
spoke of is absolutely necessary to me.
Sfida: Necessary to you?
Gallant: ......
Gallant: It's not something that I am able to explain quite yet. However, I
promise that I won't be a burden to you. Please, let me come along.
Sfida: It will be a dangerous journey, you know.
Gallant: I acknowledge those conditions.
Sfida: I understand.
Sfida: In that case, we'd be honored to have such a skillful axe warrior
accompany us on our journey!
Sfida: Well, shall we go?
Gallant: Thank you...
Seion: Once we've passed the destitute village up ahead, we'll be within the
vicinity of the castle. Well, let's go.
(Gallant has joined the party.)
(Moving on to the next area, Destitute Village: Evarate.)
Soldier: Bastard, why don't you resist!
Soldier: Cry out! Scream! Run away! Beg for your life to be spared!
Ekuei Priest: Our doctrine is, "Final Days of Tranquility"...
Ekuei Priest: If we are able to accept and embrace all natural phenomena...
Ekuei Priest: We shall be liberated from our sentiments of fear and despair.
Ekuei Priest: Through "Final Days of Tranquility," God will save us humans.
Ekuei Priest: We mustn't hope, we musn't desire, we must do nothing but
embrace the will of God.
Ekuei Priest: If we can do that, no matter what happens, our hearts will be
able to find peace.
Soldier: Oh? "Final Days of Tranquility," you say...
Soldier: But, hey. Do you really think these have been "Final Days of
Tranquility?"
Ekuei Priest: ......
Soldier: I hate to break this to you... but your end will be anything but
tranquil.
(The Soldier raises his sword to strike.)
Ekuei Priest: !!
Sfida: That's enough!
Soldier: Eh? What the hell is this?
Ekuei Priest: Everything in this world is the will of God...
-- Battle 11: Defeat All Enemies --
(After the battle.)
Sfida: Are you injured?
Ligne: Why didn't you run away!
Ligne: If we hadn't arrived in time, you would have been killed!
Sfida: H, hey, Ligne... calm down a little.
Ligne: But!
Ekuei Priest: Even now, we still believe in "Final Days of Tranquility."
Ligne: !! So, what's that supposed to mean?
Ligne: Even at the cost of your own life?
Ekuei Priest: My life is at the disposal of God's will.
Ekuei Priest: Until the "Final Days of Tranquility," my body is nothing more
than a container for my spirit, one which awaits God's
calling...
Ligne: So what, are you saying that you only live in order to die?
Ligne: That's not the meaning of living!
Ekuei Priest: Ohh... this is really quite deplorable...
Ekuei Priest: Your words are severely blasphemous against God.
Ekuei Priest: Even now, there are many humans incapable of understanding the
will of God, it seems...
Ekuei Priest: Such trespasses have also resulted in Lady Lumen being held
in captivity...
Ligne: What! Do you really think I'm wrong about this?
Ligne: God, God, God...! That's all you ever speak of!
Seion: Please calm yourself, Ligne.
Ligne: But!
Seion: Would it be alright if I had a few words with him myself?
Ligne: I... I understand...
Seion: Sir. Please listen to what I have to say.
Seion: You seem to be a pious follower of the Ekuei Religion.
Ekuei Priest: Ohh... you, you are Prince Seion of the Kingdom of Folnare...
Seion: A Prince who has lost his country is hardly a Prince at all...
Seion: However, even though I've lost my country, I haven't lost my faith.
Seion: I, too, embrace the Ekuei Religion's belief in "Final Days of
Tranquility."
Ekuei Priest: ......
Seion: However, what you said a little while ago...
Seion: You spoke of our founder, Lumen, being held in captivity by the forces
of Surpreme King Dignis.
Seion: The reign of Dignis certainly doesn't revolve around that same
doctrine. That's what I'm thinking.
Ekuei Priest: I understand that our doctrine is filled with seemingly
deplorable thoughts, but we must continue to hold onto it.
Seion: Yeah...
Seion: However, I suspect that even God himself would never be able to forgive
Dignis for his trespasses against mankind.
Seion: That's why, in order to regain "Final Days of Tranquility" once again,
we need to rise together and stand firm.
Ekuei Priest: Rise together and stand firm, you say...
Seion: In order to rescue Lumen, we must gather those men who feel the same
way as we do.
Seion: And then... we shall defeat that monster, Dignis.
Ekuei Priest: If... if that's what you say...
Seion: When the time comes, I will need to borrow strength from the Followers
of Ekuei.
Seion: Perhaps then, "Final Days of Tranquility" may never need to pass.
Seion: With our strength, we shall revive the will of God ourselves.
Ekuei Priest: However, does Lady Lumen approve of such a plan...?
Seion: She would find it quite deplorable, I imagine.
Seion: Our lives are fragile, tenuous existences... we are not unlike insects
in this regard.
Seion: A gentle, warmhearted woman like herself would be quite saddened at
the mere thought of it.
Ekuei Priest: I understand. We will lend you our strength.
Seion: And I will thank you for that strength when the time arrives, my
comrade!
Ligne: I can't believe this at all! This man, one who doesn't even value his
own life...
Seion: Come now, please calm yourself a little. Such feelings have spoiled
your beautiful face.
Seion: I admit, such emotion really brings out the passion in you, but I'd
much rather restore that smiling face of yours.
Ligne: Wh, why are you talking like that all of a sudden? Come on, don't fool
around with me!
Seion: Hahahahaha. In any case, let's get moving.
Seion: Up ahead is a place I remember well, the Ruined Residence of Folnare.
(New equipment has arrived at the Shop.)
(Moving on to the next area, Ruined Residence of Folnare.)
Seion: Something doesn't feel right here...
Sfida: What's wrong?
Seion: This place was once a sanctuary for members of the Royal Family...
Seion: My mother loved this place more than anything... but now, she is
nothing more than a memory...
Seion: You...! You bastard...! Dignis...!
Ligne: Are you alright, Seion?
Seion: ...It's nothing. Nevermind.
Seion: Through here, there is a waterway which directly connects to the old
Capital City of Folnare.
Seion: There are very few people who are even aware of its existence.
Seion: We'll proceed through the waterway in order to enter the city.
Alright?
Ligne: Yeah. But, upon entering the Capital City, we won't be able to avoid
drawing attention to ourselves.
Ligne: Why don't we stop and rest for a while beforehand?
Seion: That's fine... let's do as you've suggested.
Seion: What do you think, Sfida?
1. That's a good idea. Let's rest for a while.
2. No way. Let's hurry and keep moving ahead.
(I recommend selecting the first option. This decision impacts the following
scene and battle, and is currently believed to be one of several flags required
in order to recruit Vizer in Chapter 5.)
(Ruined Residence of Folnare.)
Adonis: Ugh, my arm... my arm hurts...
Adonis: As I thought, they've managed to come this far...
Adonis: If only my arm... if only my arm...
Ligne: Are you alright?
Adonis: !!
Ligne: I'm sorry...
Ligne: I didn't mean to eavesdrop on you, I just couldn't sleep...
Ligne: It's alright. Everyone else is already sleeping, it seems.
Adonis: It, it's not that... I just... Yeah, that's right. I couldn't sleep
either, that's all.
Adonis: Really, there's no need to worry at all!
Ligne: I see. Well, that's good to hear.
Ligne: Hey, would you mind if I talked to you about something on my mind?
Adonis: Su, sure...
Ligne: I've been doing a lot of thinking about the relationship between
Spirits and Humans, right?
Ligne: In order for Humans to continue living, the lives of other beings must
always be sacrificed.
Ligne: Regardless, I think that humans have an earnest responsibility to
continue living, doing whatever is necessary...
Ligne: But still, these are lives that have been sacrificed, for our sake...
Adonis: ......
Ligne: The relationship between Spirits and Humans... we're really quite
similar, I think.
Ligne: We also depend upon borrowing strength from each other in order to
survive.
Ligne: Don't you think we could coexist together in this world, despite the
presence of Alchemy?
Adonis: Ligne, about my arm...
Ligne: Well, all this talking has made me sleepy...
Ligne: I'm going to head off to bed.
Adonis: Wait! Something's there!
(A cloaked enemy materializes before them.)
Ligne: Everyone, wake up! It's the enemy!
-- Battle 12: Defeat All Enemies. --
(After the battle.)
Sfida: Are you alright, everyone?
Sfida: Those bastards were really strong... what on earth were they?
Gray: Well, they weren't human, that's for sure.
Gallant: I feel the presence of evil...
Seion: Impossible... it couldn't possibly be...
Sfida: Seion, do you know what those things were?
Seion: The Nox... could the Nox have started to move again...?
Sfida: Nox...?
Seion: ...It's nothing, forget it...
Seion: The waterway is fairly dark and has a horrible stench, so let's keep it
together.
(Moving on to the next area, Barrage Castle: Underground Waterway.)
???: Nya!
???: So, there you are! I can see right through your weaknesses!
Dark Soldier: ......
???: Your weakness is... your weakness is...
???: That's it! Your weakness is light! And it's daytime right now!
???: I bet you're scared, aren't you!
Dark Soldier: ......
???: It's too late, apologizing now won't do you any good! Here I come!!
(She attacks the Dark Soldier and does no damage whatsoever.)
Dark Soldier: ......
???: It's no good... the light can't reach this far underground!
(Two more Dark Soldiers appear behind her.)
???: Nyaaaa! What a big army!
Sfida: Hey! The bastards are down here!
Sfida: Are you alright?
???: Pardon me, but I'll take care of them!
(Another Dark Soldier appears in front of her.)
???: Nya?! Help meeee! Their weakness is light!
Sfida: ...Light?
Seion: Light... it's just as I thought, those bastards are...
Gallant: This evil presence will be repelled with holy force...
-- Battle 13: Defeat All Enemies. --
(If you intend to recruit Tier in Chapter 4, don't let her die in this battle.)
(After the battle.)
Sfida: Hey!
Sfida: Hey! Wait up!
Sfida: Who on earth was that girl?
Gallant: I feel the presence of evil...
Sfida: Eh?
(More Dark Soldiers appear.)
Sfida: What the hell is this? Is there no end to these guys?
Gallant: The evil presence is brimming with energy...
Seion: Shit... their weakness seems to be light.
Seion: We're at a disadvantage, fighting down here.
Seion: It would be best to bring them out into the open. Our destination
isn't far from here... everyone, run!
Seion: Just a little farther!
Gray: I can see it!
Sfida: This is the... Place of Worship...
(Ekuei Place of Worship: Third Floor)
???: So, he's finally on the move...
???: He's rather devoted to you, it seems...
Lumen: ......
???: If you're rescued by that bastard, conflict will awaken once again.
???: This country will be consumed with the storms of destruction and
slaughter. It has its advantages, as well as its disadvantages.
???: After all, humans really are such foolish creatures, don't you think?
Lumen: Although God views the sins of mankind as quite deplorable...
Lumen: Through his infinite compassion, he has provided us with "Final Days of
Tranquility."
Lumen: We will continue to wait for the "Final Days of Tranquility" to arrive.
???: "Final Days of Tranquility"... that's simply laughable.
???: It's not like you don't know what we, the Nox, are currently doing for
that very purpose.
???: God certainly didn't wish for any sort of thing resembling what you've
described.
Lumen: That's not true. God has extended his hand to save mankind from the
impending destruction.
Lumen: If we could only bring ourselves to believe in the teachings of God
once again, we humans could be released from the terror brought about
by the Sea of Nihility.
Lumen: I believe in the will of God... I believe in "Final Days of
Tranquility."
???: And what about those foolish humans who have abandoned their belief in
your "Final Days of Tranquility?"
???: So halfhearted! Your "Final Days of Tranquility" are so halfhearted!
Lumen: !!
???: Pray as much as you want.
???: God's voice will never reach down to help you... hahahahaha.
Lumen: ......
(Moving on to the next area, Bridge to the Ekuei Place of Worship.)
----------------------------- To Be Continued... ------------------------------
