1. Introduction

Hello there, welcome to my Singstar guide. I wonder why I'm the only one with
a full faq/walkthrough around here. This game is great, I played it alot
altough I can't sing but with some friends and family around it is really fun
to play. I'm writing this guide to help you with playing Singstar. Also because
I want just like others (*wink* *wink* to Relle) to be listed in all
"Most profilic" spots. This game gets better if you have an EyeToy because some
paparazzi will take photos and pieces of your video.
So to begin, plug in your USB connecter, the blue and red microphone and get
ready to have fun!

2. Revision History

0.01 - Just began to write this guide, will do the track list and other easy
things first. More later.

0.1 - Made a piece of th walkthrough and added some other information.

In Singstar all modes are played with the microphones. Your voice will be
read and put into screen data, so you can score points and see how good you
can sing, while your voice is played throug hthe speakers of your TV. The only
thing you need to have nearby is your microphone!
Plug an analog controller (DUALSHOCK2) into your Playstation 2 before getting
started so you're able to use the menus and volume.
Don't have any ASCII controllers here so if you want to submit one please
send an email to me and I'll give you credit.

manual because I'm trying to write it with my own words.

8.1 Precautions

Safety
If you do not use the microphones in the correct way the electrical device
can cause fire, electrical shock or personal injury. To ensure there will be
no accidents while using the microphones follow these guidelines:
- Obserce all warnings, precautions and instructions
- If the microphones act abnormal do not use them

8.2 Using the microphones

While you sing, hold the microphones 5 to 8 centimetres (2 to 3 inches) from
your mouth. Sing in the top of the microphone.
Be sure you're not standing too close to your TV or else you'll hear a loud and
high-pitched sound.

8.3 Troubleshooting

If you cannot hear your voice in the game, check:
- if your microphones are connected to the USB converter.
- if your USB converter is connected to the Playstation 2.
- if you're not holding your microphone too far away from your mouth.
- if the volume on your TV isn't too low or muted.
When playing, player One is player two on your screen and vice versa, check:
- That the blue (Player 1) microphone is in the blue hole in the USB converter
and that the red one is in the red hole.

10. Game Modes
===============================================================================
First of all you'll need to select if you want to sing, a quick game, only a
few songs or you want to have some fun with your friends in the party mode.
If you want to make a career in this game you have to select Star Maker.
You do not care about points and just want to sing for fun? Freestyle!
Let's start at the beginning.

Sing Mode
--------------------
Select if you want to play alone (one player) or with a friend (two player)
Siging aloneis fun for a while but I assure you,if you play with 2 it will be
a lot more fun to play, but it's your choice.
When selecting either one or two player you'll need to enter your names, if
you're lazy like me you just press X and continue, when you sang good enough
to be in the high score you'll automatically will be able to put in your name
if you didn't do it now.
Now select a difficulty, easy, medium and hard.
What's the difference? The linesare much thicker when you play on easy so you
don't have to sing 100% the same on the same tone. The other difficulties are
alot harder but after some hours spending singing the songs so you won' need to
read the text anymore you'll be able to play on the hard mode!
Now select on of the 30 songs, if this is your first time playing I suggest
you begin with Superstar fro Jamelia because that's the easiest song in the
game. Now sing and have a good time!.
If you have selecter two player you can choose between a duet (sing together
for a combined score) or battle (copete against each other).
Once again you have to select your difficulty. When playing with 2 you'll
notice that the arsof the blue mirophones are at the top of the screen and the
red ones are on the bottom. With a duet you'll onl have one bar but the two
players have to use both of the microphones.

Party Mode
--------------------
There are 2 options in the party mode, the best of 3 mode (battle it out across
3 songs: highest total score wins) and pass the mic (take turns on the mic:
battles, duets, and challenges)
If you have selected best of 3 you have to select one vs one (take turns on the
mic) or battle (go head to head in a vocal duel) select 3 songs, after each one
you'll see the standings. After the third song you'll both see your final score
the one with the best score wins!
Select the battle mode and select 3 songs you want to sing against each other.
Now if you rather "pass the mic" you have to select with how many players
you'll be playing, you can selectfrom 1 to 4 players on each team.
Now enter the 4 players names (again you do not have to) selet a difficulty and
if you want to sing the whole song orthe short version.
The game will now pick a random song you have to sing against each other.
After that song both teams will have to pass the microphone.

Star Maker Mode
--------------------
Select new game to begin your career or if you already played a while and saved
yor progress you can load your game.
The point of Star Maker is you begin as an unknown singer and have to create
song buzz to attract some people like record managers so you can bring out
your singles. If you sing good enough you can sing in a lot of clubs.
For more information about this game mode please go to section 9, the
Star Maker walkthrough.

Freestyle
--------------------
This is pretty simple, just select a song and start singing, no matter how
good you sing there won't be a score bar, it's just freestyle here. Just sing
your favorite songs!

Do I need to explain? *sigh* I'll explain else this guide won't be complete.
Screen position lets you change the position of the game on your TV, this
is useful when the game isn't centered on the screen.
Playback, if you have any saved photos or video clips from a singstar game
on your memory card use this option to load them and laugh!
Audio options is where you can slect the singing things like AVC (Fade vocals
when singing) or instrumental (no lead vocals) where you're onyour own, the
original artists won't sing, it's just the music you'll hear. If you're new
to singstar you should select the full vocal mix (singalong with lead vocals).
EyeToy(R) USB Camera, if you own this cool camera you can (de)activate it
here.
load/save game load/save your game data and turn on /off autosave.
credits view the game credtis tht are listed in this guide and in the
instruction manual.

11. Using EyeToy(R) USB-Camera
===============================================================================
Sing, dance and look cool too, it's hard but if you want to try and you have an
EyeToy(R) USB-Camera (for Playstation2) you can see yourself on your TV while
singing instead of the video clip. When you encounter a golden note you can
pose for the paparazzi. After the song you can view the photos.
If you want to use the EyeToy do these things first:
Plugin the EyeToy into one of the two USB ports in your console, the blue
light will now be on (if you're PS2 is turned on). Place it above or below
your TV and take about 1 to 2 metres distance.
Go to the game options and select Activate Eyetoy.
You have activated the eyetoy camera now, turn the camera so your image is
sharp enough. For other info about placing the eyetoy see your EyeToy manual.

~ Introduction ~
Welcome singstars! First of all you if you CAN'T sing it's ok, if you can
that's ok too. I can't sing ^^ but I like to sing a duet with some friends or
play the story mode. This game is just great when you have a disco party or
together with 2 to 6 friends. This is a 95% party game, single player isn't
fun enough.
~ Game Play ~ 9/10
You're a star so act like one! That's the moto of Singstar. In this game you
have to sing one of the 30 songs available solo or with a friend. Try to sing
the song exact like you hear it, on the same tone. If you have an eyetoy you
can see yourself singing else you can watch the video clip while doing your
thing.
You can play with with maximum 2 player, team and sing as good as you can to
get a nice score when combined, battle and see who can sing the best or do a
little match. Select three songs and at the end of all 3 songs you'll see
your final score, are you a lead singer or are you tone deaf?
~ Story ~ 8/10
You can play some kind of story mode where you begin as a newbie singer.
Play in disco's, check your phone, call managers of clubs and work your way
up to the top and compete with the big boys!
~ Graphics ~ 8/10
They are nice, you'll see a bar where your tone needs to be ( high or low )
when you're not on the bar you won't receive many points. Sometimes you'll
find an eyetoy logo above the bar, if you sing that part 100% correct the
paparazzi will take photo's and / or video clips. You can watch therm after
the song.
~ Music Availability ~ 9/10
You have a total of 30 songs. Some are old, some are recent, like you'll
find atomic kitten, elvis, busted and so on. You can also watch their
video clip.
~ Fun Factor ~ 12/10
This is what makes the game. It doesn't matter if you can sing or not, just
have a good time with your friends and laugh at each other when you see
them sing or watch the replays.
Play Time / Replay Value ~ 9/10
There isn't an actual play time but it will take a while if you want to
master all the songs on the hard mode, sing duets, battles and other
stuff with friends if you're bored.
~ Overall ~ 9/10
A very good game if you like singing or just want to have a laugh with
some friends. Maybe people should play this game before entering Idols XD.
Rent or Buy? Buy and buy an eyetoy too if you don't have one.
