Presenting a guide to carry you through the ordeals presented by the various
fifth weapons in Dynasty Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends.  With each weapon we will
provide the item information, in what stage each of them are found, the
requirements for making them appear, and how to fulfill those requirements
with the officers in question.

Obviously with a guide this large, there is room for error and there will
always be room for improvement.  If you find a mistake, or if you have a
suggestion for an addition, please do not hesitate to contact me with the
information.

At this time you may not post this guide to your web site, or take excessive
content from it, without advance permission from me.  Requirements for this
are routine, for the most part (no advertising, no frames, no changes, stays
in plain text, and is always updated from GameFAQs without action from me).

Section I - VERSION HISTORY
----------------------------------------
0.1: Completed initial draft of Fifth Weapons FAQ.  Some weapon names
and element activation sequences are missing.  In the future weapon
strategies will be revised, this information will be filled in, and
evaluations of the various fifth weapons will be included.
0.2: Many weapon names, elements, strategy updates, and corrections.

Section II - IMPORTANT INFORMATION
----------------------------------------
There are a few important things to know before fifth weapon hunting.

  - Xtreme Legends must be set to "Very Hard" difficulty.
  - You can get the weapons in Musou Mode or Free Mode.
  - Pay careful attention to the site on which you must play.
  - If you see (Xtreme) next to a location, you must play on Xtreme mode.
  - If you do not see (Xtreme), play on original mode.
  - Without Dynasty Warriors 3, you cannot unlock original mode weapons.

I would also like to point out that "Very Hard" difficulty is, true to its
name, very hard to play.  I generally consider it to be three times harder
than the older "Hard" difficulty, officers have their fourth weapons and they
do use them (so watch out for shadow attacks from Lu Xun and constant musous
from Gan Ning).  Playing in two-player mode, and staying near each other as
you fight your way through levels, will help greatly.  In fact, you may not
be able to get several of the weapons without considerable talent otherwise.

Do not forget your friend arrow defense, archers are truly horrible beings
in "Very Hard" difficulty. Another friend is the instant death element,
officers like Cao Cao (fourth weapon), Zhang He (fourth weapon), Lu Xun
(fourth weapon), Wei Yan (fourth weapon), Sun Quan (fifth weapon), and Xiahou
Yuan (fifth weapon) are very helpful in this mode, make use of them.

Also, expect to be killed, sometimes many times over, while trying to fulfill
the tougher objectives.  Remember to save frequently during battle while in a
good position so you can restart if you get slaughtered.

Section III - FIFTH WEAPONS GUIDE
----------------------------------------
Cao Cao (Blue Steel)
 Element: None
Basic +45, Life +86, Defense +51, Arrow Def +58, Range +24, Musou Armor
(Musou Armor prevents your officer from stumbling after an arrow strike)
Stage: Battle of Ding Jun Mountain (Wei Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item (Southwest from Huang Zhong's initial position)
Method: Defeat Huang Zhong within 5 minutes.
Strategy: Equip arrow defense.  Huang Zhong will start to move toward your
position fairly early in the battle.  You can either wait for him, or, if
you are good enough with Cao Cao, you can run up and defeat him to earn
some extra time.  Once you have done this, return to your command center to
clear the ambush, attack and defeat Zhang Fei, pick up your item, and then
  face Liu Bei.

Da Qiao (Yellow Beauty)
 Element: Flame (Activate with: SSST)
 Basic +37, Life +65, Attack +26, Range +22, Recovery +10
Stage: Surprise Attack on Liu Biao (Wu Forces)
Location: (Inside the camp north from the southeastern ship)
Method: After Sun Jian is killed, defeat Kuai Ling (east from Liu Biao).
Strategy: Proceed north, kill the gate captain just after you step on land,
and then track down and finish Huang Zu. Go north and kill Zhang Hu, then
return to the south, flip around the east road, and travel up to defeat
Lu Gong.  Continue until you find Kuai Ling; kill him to trigger the item
report.  Go south to get you item, then defeat Liu Biao.

Dian Wei (Beast Axe)
 Element: None
Basic +49, Life +90, Attack +28, Defense +52, Arrow Def +50, Hex Mark Saddle
Stage: Battle at He Fei (Wei Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item (around the pass south of Cao Cao's came, not far
  from Gan Ning's initial position)
Method: After the Taishi Ci Death Event, defeat Lu Xun.  Later enemy backup
troops will appear, defeat Gan Ning (south of Cao Cao's camp).
Strategy: Move south and protect Zhang Liao until he kills Taishi Ci (do
not kill Taishi Ci yourself).  From there defeat all other officers in
the center area of the map, then chase down and kill Lu Xun.  Fight toward
Cao Cao's camp, and defeat Gan Ning when he arrives. After you defeat him,
pick up the item in that area, and then attack and defeat the remaining
officers starting with the closest threats to Cao Cao.

Diao Chan (Imperial Mace)
 Element: Flame (Activate with: SSST)
 Basic +40, Jump +21, Life +72, Attack +25, Range +30, Charge +10
Stage: Diao Chan's Escape (Xtreme) (Diao Chan's Forces)
 Delivery: Dropped by Lu Bu.
Method: Defeat Lu Bu, and he will drop it.
Strategy: Proceed through the first three gates as fast as you can (there
is only 30 minutes to complete the level) and Lu Bu will start chasing you
north.  Try to fight and defeat as many soldiers and officers as you can
before he arrives.  Make sure that when he finally does come, you have a
fairly open space to fight him and his guards.  He will be very hard, but
if you did well enough, and if Diao Chan is strong enough, you should be
able to beat him.  The final gate officers, if left, will retreat after
he is defeated and you can complete the level.

Dong Zhuo (Black Steel)
Element: Instant Death (Activate with: SSST)
 Basic +41, Musou +74, Defense +45, Mounted Def +53, Range +29, Arrows +30
Stage: Wu Zhang Plain (Xtreme) (Dong Zhuo's Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item (Southeast corner of ally fort at bottom of map)
Method: Prevent bombardment of allied headquarters by defeating Pang Tong
while Fen Chou is still alive then wait for allied reinforcements.
Strategy: Rather than run to Fen Chou's side and try to save him, I suggest
going straight for Pang Tong at the beginning of the battle.  Dong Zhuo is
slow, so you will want to use the Red Hare to arrive there quickly.  Defeat
him (no easy task) and then try to defeat Zhao Yun, Wei Yan, and the gate
captains within range.  If using two players, you may want to have the
second face Wei Yan and Zhao Yun while you defeat Pang Tong (or visa
versa).  Once you have done this, work your way south, defeating enemy
officers as you meet them, get the item, then continue to defeat enemy
officers on your way to Liu Bei (do this quickly or you will find yourself
facing multiple enemies).  In two player mode, you can use Dong Zhuo to
distract all but a few officers away from Liu Bei while you run up with
  second player and defeat him.

Fu Xi (Dragon Slayer)
 Element: None
Basic +46, Musou +86, Life +80, Range +28, Charge +8, The Art of War
Stage: Wan Castle (Zhang Xiu's Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item Report (By Fu Xi's initial position)
Method: Defeat Dian Wei, Xu Zhu, and Xu Huang.
Strategy: Move straight to Dian Wei and defeat him, then work your
way around to the west.  Xu Huang will be in the area, and depending
on how fast you finished Dian Wei, Zhang Liao and Zhen Ji may be
there as well.  Defeat all three of these officers starting with
the most accessible.  Do not move too far north, or you will trigger
an ambush of archers and set Cao Cao in motion early.  Once you have
finished Xu Huang, return to Dian Wei's gate and run through the
castle.  You can meet Cao Cao above along with his sub officers and
an ambush.  Don't worry about Cao Cao, but make sure you finish
Xu Zhu here.  Try to do defeat as much of his following as possible.
When Cao Cao starts to get too far away, run south again, get your
weapon, then cut Cao Cao off before he gets to the central southern
  troop entry point and escapes.

Gan Ning (Seven Seas Blade)
 Element: Wind (Activate with: SSSSST)
 Basic +46, Speed +24, Defense +45, Range +28, Recovery +12
Stage: Battle of Yi Ling (Wu Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item (north of the Shu headquarters not far from the
valley in the center of the map in a building complex inside one of
  three lined up boxes)
Method: Navigate the stone soldier maze, and then defeat Zhuge Liang.
Strategy: Defeat Ma Chao to the north, followed by the two gate captains
along the east side of the map, and then Wei Yan.  From there attack
and defeat Zhao Yun, Huang Quan, and then Huang Zhong.  You can
then proceed through the stone soldier maze normally, or you can
come in through the north entrance to the Shu camp.  If you take the
north entrance, you must step into the exit of the stone maze before
killing Zhuge Liang (this counts as navigating the maze).  Finish Zhuge
Liang, run north and through the valley to get your weapon, and then
  return and defeat Liu Bei.

Guan Yu (Divine Dragon)
 Element: None
Basic +49, Speed +21, Musou +82, Defense +60, Musou Charge +25, Red Hare
Saddle
Stage: Battle of Fan Castle (Guan Yu's Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item (Northeastern area of map)
Method: In order, defeat Pang De, Lu Xun, Gan Ning, and then Lu Meng.
Strategy: At the start of battle run to Pang De, defeat him, and then
return to your starting area.  Use the flood event to finish Cao Ren
and Xu Huang.  Approach Sima Yi (get your weapon now if you like) and
before long the Wu reinforcements will arrive.  Finish Lu Xun first
(be careful of his archers, kill them as soon as possible), then run
past Lu Meng to defeat Gan Ning.  Avoid fighting both at once, run
to separate them.  Once you have finished Gan Ning move on to
Lu Meng then complete the stage.

Huang Gai (Spiked Mace)
 Element: Lightning (Activate with: SSST)
 Basic +44, Musou +85, Attack +26, Mounted Att +50, Range +28
Stage: Yellow Turban Rebellion (Han Forces)
 Location: (Southeastern area of map)
Method: Defeat He Yi and then Zhang Bao, in order, before any other officers.
Strategy: Equip the Red Hare; you will have some ground to cover.  Head
northwest once the battle starts, remove the gate captain at the river,
and then charge across the northern part of the map to reach and defeat
He Yi and his gate captain.  Once you have finished him off, take the
fastest route to Zhang Bao, who will probably be in the castle now,
and defeat him. Now start removing generals and officers starting with
the greatest threat to He Jin and working your way out.  Once he is safe
and the castle is secure, pick up your item then finish Zhang Jiao. It
is strongly suggested that a second player use a Wu (Sun Quan or Lu Xun
with death attacks is best) or Wei (Cao Cao with fourth weapon) officer
to help with this stage.  They can take out Zhang Bao and protect
He Jin while you are fighting He Yi.

Huang Zhong (Mystic Blade)
 Element: Wind (Activate with: SSSSST)
 Basic +44, Defense +52, Arrow Att +60, Range +28, Arrows +47, Recovery +10
Stage: Battle of Yi Ling (Shu Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item (Central northern area of southeastern valley
(near Ma Chao's starting position, by an emperor's seal)
Method: Prevent fire attack by defeating Zhu Ran, and then defeat Lu Xun.
Strategy: Zhu Ran travels east through the slim valley in the center of
the map after Lu Xun looks over the Shu camp.  From your starting position
enter the valley, find him, and then defeat him (if you are fast and good
enough, you can kill Lu Meng first).  Once you have done this, attack and
defeat Sun Shang Xiang, then return to the center and remove Lu Meng as
fast as possible and then attack the closest enemy officers from there
until you defeat Lu Xun.  Once only Sun Quan remains, get the item and
  then complete the stage.

Jiang Wei (Starlight Pike)
 Element: None
 Basic +41, Musou +79, Attack +21, Defense +58, Musou Charge +20, Defender
Stage: Battle of Yi Ling (Shu Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item (Northwestern area of map, east of the boat in the
area with three boxes and an emperor's seal)
Method: Defeat all enemy generals (including sub generals)
Strategy: Attack and defeat Xu Sheng then Lu Meng as fast as possible,
then choose your next targets based off who is closest to Liu Bei and
what sub officers you can find in the immediate area.  Be fast and very
efficient, or you will find yourself facing too many enemy officers.
Once you have eliminated any threat to him, you may move on and remove
gate captains and stray generals.  You will probably want to allow the
fire event, as it will cause Liu Bei to retreat south if he has an open
path (he will probably be killed otherwise.

Liu Bei (Dragon Star)
 Element: Lighting (Activate with: SSSST[T])
 Basic +40, Speed +24, Musou +65, Defense +40, Mounted Att +44, Arrows +27
Stage: Battle of Jie Ting (Shu Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item (West end of small valley between forests below
Sima Yi's fortification.  Found along with an emperor's seal)
Method: When Ma Su is surrounded, defeat Du Xi to save him (south of the
open area to the west below Zhang He's initial position).
Strategy: Take the left path when Zhang He charges and save Ma Su.
Once he is safe, move on and defeat Zhang He.  From there defeat
officers presenting the most immediate threat to Zhuge Liang, and
once he is safe work your way north, get your weapon, then defeat
  Cao Cao / Sima Yi.

Lu Bu (Demon Slayer)
Element: Flame (Activate with: ST, SSST, SSSSST)
Basic +50, Musou +90, Life +90, Att +30, Range +30, Red Hare Saddle
Stage: Battle at Chi Bi (Xtreme) (Lu Bu's Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item (above prayer shrine in Southwestern corner of map)
Requirements: Defeat Lu Meng, Huang Gai, Taishi Ci, and Gan Ning.
Strategy: At the start of battle head southeast and defeat Xu Rong then
Li Meng (if you handle Xu Rong in a good amount of time).  If you are
still doing well attack and defeat Li Jue, then start running toward
the Northeastern area of the map.  The Wu officers should arrive around
this point.  Defeat Lu Meng first, as he will kill Diao Chan if you let
him, and then move on to whoever is closest to Diao Chan from there.
Once you have finished them, clear out the soldiers in the area (so Diao
Chan is not endangered) and then get the item.  You may need to return
to the Eastern part of the map to clear the way for Diao Chan again.

Lu Meng (Fighting Tiger)
 Element: None
Basic +45, Life +82, Attack +25, Mounted Att +50, Range +25, Musou Armor
(Musou Armor prevents your officer from stumbling after an arrow strike)
Stage: Siege of He Fei Castle (Wu Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item (In a corner of the castle courtyard directly to
the left of Zhang He's initial position along with an emperor's seal).
Method: Defeat Zhang He and Xu Huang, trigger the archer ambush event
(by walking near the walkway across the center river), defeat Xu Zhu,
and then defeat Man Chong (who arrives with Cao Rui as reinforcements.
Strategy: Equip arrow defense.  This fifth weapon is very hard to get,
and it is suggested that you use Sun Quan, fifth weapon equipped, as
the second player. Start by running around to the left entryway,
stopping to kill archers as you go, but try not to waste time on
anything else.  Attack and defeat the gate captain when you arrive
then proceed north to the wind tunnel trap.  Wind around into the
courtyard and defeat Zhang He, then Xu Huang.  Prepare a clear retreat
to the east, then trigger the archer event and run (there is a whole
army of them, and they will most likely kill you if you stick around).
Find Xu Zhu, knock him down a ledge, and jump down yourself (being down
there keeps you comparatively safe from the archers, who follow you now).
Once you finish Xu Zhu, and you are healthy enough, leave and attack the
enemy reinforcements (you may need to save Sun Quan) starting with their
gate captain. Return to the castle from the west and sprint through the
archers and troops (they will gather in that area) to get your weapon,
and then continue to Zhang Liao, who you should defeat quickly.  Zhen Ji
will ignore you, just proceed up the eastern stairs to Cao Cao / Sima Yi.

Lu Xun (Flash Blade)
 Element: Wind (Activate with: SSSSST)
 Basic +42, Life +80, Attack +24, Arrow Def +55, Range +30
Stage: Battle at You Ting (Wu Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item (South of the bridge near Zhou Fang's position)
Method: Appears after Sima Yi identifies Zhou Fang as an enemy spy,
forcing him to return to your side (20:00.00) with Cao Xiu and either
Zhang Pu or Zheng He alive.
Strategy: Move north from your initial position to find and defeat Xu Huang.
Continue north to defeat Zhen Ji and then search the area for Man Chong.
Return south and then go around east to defeat Zhang He and his sub-generals.
If Sima Yi still hasn't identified Zhou Fang return to your command area
and save any officers that may be in trouble.  Once Zhou Fang returns defeat
Cao Xiu, followed by Zhang Pu, and then finish the stage.

Ma Chao (Lightning Spear)
 Element: Lightning (Activate with: SSST)
 Basic +42, Jump +21, Musou +87, Luck +15, Range +21, Charge +8
Stage: Assault on Cheng Du (Shu Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item (Southwestern corner of map, below castle wall)
Method: Defeat Liu Xun or Liu Han before Pang Tong dies.
Strategy: You may play Pang Tong to keep him alive if you like, but if
you want to use an alternate officer it is suggested that you run
directly into enemy territory to defeat Liu Han. Once you have done
this, return to Liu Bei's side, and defeat all officers that arrive
starting with the closest one.  Eventually, Liu Bei will start to travel
up the Northern path.  Defeat officers and troops as he moves along, and
then toward Liu Zhang's territory leave his side and get the weapon (you
don't want Liu Zhang to surrender before you get the weapon).  Return
if Liu Bei is in danger, if not just defeat Liu Zhang.

Meng Huo (Shadow Beast)
 Element: Lightning (Activate with: SSST)
 Basic +48, Speed +24, Attack +30, Mounted Att +54, Luck +13, Charge +8
Stage: Assault on the Wu Territory (Xtreme) (Nanman Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item (near the central northern troop entry point)
Method: In order, defeat Lu Xun, Taishi Ci, Gan Ning, and then Lu Meng.
Strategy: You only have 30 minutes to complete the stage, so it is
suggested that you avoid fighting troops and sub-generals if you can
help it.  Start by heading down the Eastern of the two paths toward
Lu Meng.  Do not fight him, but instead run past toward the Northeastern
area and defeat Lu Xun.  Once you have finished him, run past Lu Meng
again, return the way you came, then head west to Gan Ning's area.
Lure Gan Ning to the north, and get past him to the area below, where
Taishi Ci will appear.  Defeat Taishi Ci, then return to the north
and Defeat Gan Ning followed by Lu Meng.  Grab the item by the northern
troop entry point, then go straight for Zhuge Liang and finish him.

Nu Wa (Dragon Rapier)
 Element: None
 Basic +39, Attack +23, Defense +41, Range +30, Musou Charge +20, Defender
Stage: Yellow Turban Rebellion (Yellow Turban Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item (Southwestern area of castle among three boxes)
Method: Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, and then Liu Bei in approximately five
minutes or less.  Zhang Bao's troops will attack, and it will be
  followed by the item report.
Strategy: Go straight to Zhang Fei and Guan Yu and defeat them, and if
Zhang Bao is not in danger, attack and defeat Liu Bei.  Make sure you
drop what you are doing if Zhang Bao is in trouble though, you cannot
get the weapon if he dies before Liu Bei and his brothers.  If there
is no threat approaching Zhang Jiao, attack and remove Cao Cao, then
  collect your item.

Pang Tong (Lightning Staff)
 Element: Lightning (Activate with: SSSST[T])
 Basic +38, Musou +80, Defense +56, Arrow Def +50, Musou Charge +30, Charge +5
Stage: Battle at Chi Bi (Shu Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item (Southeastern tip of land before boats)
Method: Make sure fire attack succeeds, defeat Xiahou Dun upon arrival.
Strategy: Keep Zhuge Liang, Zhou Yu, and Huang Gai (north from Zhou Yu)
safe to allow the fire event. From your starting position move north
and defeat the gate captain in the immediate area.  Continue north and
defeat Xiahou Yuan, who will come south for battle.  Clear enemy troops
and officers that get near Zhuge Liang, Zhou Yu, or Huang Gai until
the fire event succeeds.  At that point, return north along the western
path defeating officers and gate captains as you go or protect Sun Quan
if officers are close to him. Defeat Xiahou Dun when he arrives
(it takes him a while, but he will come), follow the eastern path to get
the item, then return north and defeat Cao Cao. Sun Quan is a good
choice for a second player, especially if you have his fifth weapon.

Sima Yi (Raven Feather)
 Element: None
Basic +40, Life +71, Arrow Def +55, Range +30, Musou Charge +25, Defender
Stage: Siege of He Fei Castle (Wei Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item (Southeast area of the wind trap room)
Method: In order, defeat Lu Xun, Lu Meng, Sun Shang Xiang, and Gan Ning
before the full attack message (9:00.00).
Strategy: Run south quickly and defeat Lu Xun (approach from the west
so you don't face Lu Meng at the same time), then move east and defeat
Lu Meng. Proceed northeast to find and defeat Sun Shang Xiang, then
move on to Gan Ning who will be in the area.  Start heading toward
the wind room defeating any other officers that approach you on the
way, collect the item, then complete the stage.

Sun Ce (God of War)
 Element: Lightning (Activate with: SSSSST[T])
 Basic +42, Speed +22, Arrow Def +50, Range +30, Musou Charge +23
Stage: Surprise attack on Liu Biao (Wu Forces)
Location: (in the middle of the camp north of the southwestern boat)
Method: After Sun Jian is killed, defeat Cai Mao (southeast from Liu Biao).
Strategy: Proceed north, kill the gate captain just after you step on
land, and then track down and finish Huang Zu. Go up the east passage
and kill Lu Gong, then return to the southwestern entrance through
the forest and kill Zhang Hu.  Continue north into the fortress,
find Cai Mao, and kill him.  Return to the camp in front of the south-
western boat, get the weapon, and then finish Liu Biao.

Sun Jian (Wolf Blade)
 Element: None
 Basic +43, Musou +82, Defense +42, Arrow Att +55, Range +26, Buckler
Stage: Siege of He Fei Castle (Wu Forces)
Location: (Southeastern area of the central courtyard by an emperor's seal)
Method: Lead troops through the southern entrance to He Fei, through the
traps, and to Zhang He and Xu Huang.  Defeat them, and when your troops
arrive all gates will open.  Defeat Man Chong (can be done at any
point) and then defeat Xu Zhu for item report.
Strategy: Lead your troops into the northwest entrance to He Fei, through
the arrow trap, past the wind trap room, and to Zhang He and Xu Huang
(by killing soldiers, gate captains, and officers that get in their way).
Once you defeat Zhang He and Xu Huang, all gates will open.  Run to the
southwest and defeat Man Chong and Cao Rui (remove their gate captain
first), then head north to Xu Zhu.  Once you defeat him, the item
report will occur. Make your way back to the courtyard and grab it,
then take the northeastern entrance to the inner castle, defeat
Zhang Liao, and then finish Cao Cao / Sima Yi.

Sun Quan (Heavenly Wolf)
Element: Instant Death (Activate with: SSST)
 Basic +42, Musou +68, Life +70, Arrow Att +52, Mounted Att +55
Stage: Battle at He Fei (Wu Forces)
Location: (Northwestern corner of southwestern map area by emperor's seal)
Strategy: Northwest from your starting position you will find Zhang Liao.
Defeat him before he can get near Taishi Ci to prevent his death by arrows.
From there, clear out all officers that threaten the central area, move
north and to the east to clear out the northeastern area, then head west
to Cao Cao's camp.  Avoid Cao Cao, but go around, find, and defeat Xu Zhu.
Also take a moment to kill his gate captains.  Run south to finish off a
few remaining enemy officers and get the weapon, then return north to
  finish Cao Cao.

Sun Shang Xiang (Dragon Chakram)
 Element: Flame (Activate with: SSSSST[T])
 Basic +40, Life +75, Attack +20, Luck +28, Range +30, Arrows +30
Stage: Battle at Fan Castle (Wu Forces)
Location: (Northwest corner of the platform protruding from the southern
castle wall, found along with an emperor's seal)
Method: Defeat Guan Ping before the flood event.
Strategy: Proceed north across the map to the walkway by Guan Yu, and
then run to the east and then south to Guan Ping.  Defeat him.
The castle will flood, but the fifth weapon box will still be
accessible. Before getting it, run past Guan Yu and kill his gate
captain. Once you have the weapon finish the stage.

Taishi Ci (Tiger Wolf)
 Element: None
Basic +45, Speed +22, Defense +46, Arrow Def +55, Range +26, Divine Helmet
(Prevents your officer from loosing consciousness and becoming dizzy)
Stage: Battle at He Fei (Wu Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item (In front of Wei headquarters by an emperor's seal)
Method: Defeat Zhang Liao after he ambushes the Wu headquarters.
Strategy: Equip arrow defense. Try to defeat Jia Xu early in the battle
if possible along with other officers and troops in the area. After
a short time Sun Quan will retreat to the Southeast just North of
the river. Run up to him with your officer and you will jump the
bridge together. Stay in the general area fighting whatever is near
and before long Zhang Liao will vanish only to appear a little
while later in your headquarters near Sun Quan.  Defeat him and his
soldiers.  Fro here, attack and defeat enemy officers that are close
to Sun Quan and gradually work your way out.  Sun Quan will attempt
to charge to Cao Cao's camp alone when you defeat his sub generals.
His arrival would cause Cao Cao to retreat.  Make sure you have the
item before he gets a chance to do this (although you will probably
have ample time to kill Cao Cao first).

Wei Yan (Twin Stars)
 Element: None
Basic +46, Musou +82, Life +82, Range +22, Musou Charge +20, The Way of Musou
Stage: Battle at Yi Ling (Shu Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item (West of bridge entrance leading to Wu's HQ)
Method: Defeat all enemy generals and gate captains
  (sub-generals not required).
Strategy: Attack and defeat Lu Meng as fast as possible, then choose
your next targets based off who is closest to Liu Bei.  Be efficient,
or you will wind up facing too many officers at once.  Once you have
eliminated any threat to him, you may move on and remove gate captains
and stray generals.  You may want to allow the fire event, as it will
cause Liu Bei to retreat if he has an open path (reducing the chances
of him being killed by enemy officers).

Xiahou Dun (Tempest Sword)
 Element: Wind (Activate with: SSSSST)
 Basic +48, Life +82, Attack +28, Mounted Att +55, Range +25
Stage: Battle of Jie Ting (Wei Forces)
Delivery: Precious Item (in map center at the bend of the L-shaped path)
Method: After Ma Su is surrounded, but before he starts to break through,
defeat Wei Yan, Jiang Wei, and Ma Chao.
Strategy: If you are good enough with Xiahou Dun, simply defeat Wei Yan,
then Jiang Wei, and then finally Ma Chao before you run out of time.
If you cannot do that quickly, first charge forward past Wei Yan and defeat
Ma Su's sub general Chen Shi (this will give you extra time).  When you
have met the requirements, finish off Ma Su (if anything for being
annoying), collect your weapon, and then complete the stage.

Xiahou Yuan (Mystic Fang)
Element: Instant Death (Activate with: SSSSST[T])

Avoid damaging Han Sui or any of his guards while doing this, they need

before the Dong Zhuo ambush event, defeat Diao Chan.
Strategy: Hunt down and defeat Diao Chan as soon as the battle
starts, your officers will die quickly.  From there you will
want to hunt down some major generals or gate captains if you
are skillful enough, otherwise take this chance to remove some
isolated officers (like Hua Xiong or Dong Zhuo's reinforcements).

by killing the last tower archer). Move north to meet Xiahou Dun and
defeat him and then remove the gate captain west of his position.
Proceed south to face and defeat Cao Ren if Lu Bu hasn't already
killed him. By now the archer tower units will have appeared.
Shoot the archers in these towers as you pass them while being careful
to leave none behind.  While removing archers, work your way around the

close to your commander.  A possible order includes Meng Huo,
Yong Kai, King Mulu, Dailai Dongzhu, king Duosi, Dong Tu Ne,
Wu Tugu, Zhu Rong, and Meng Huo.  Keep an eye out for Meng Huo's

as second player removes any threat and allows you to go about
  your business however you please.

proceed east defeating officers and soldiers to check the southeastern
enemy camp (see below).  Continue to check camps until you have visited
all three fakes and found the real one last, return and get your weapon,
then move on to Yuan Shao. Save before entering enemy camps so you can
restart if you accidentally locate the supply depot first, second, or third.

  by Cao Pi's initial position)
Method: Using first or second player, get 1,000 kills.
Suggestion: Remove the gate captain above you immediately, and then fight
everyone on your way to the northwestern land mass.  There, fight and
defeat the local officers as quickly and efficiently as you can (you
will be overwhelmed and forced to fall back if you aren't careful) until
you have defeated everyone in the area.  Kill soldiers from the three
regional gate captains until you get 1,000 kills, pick up the item,
destroy anyone near Sun Quan, and then remove Cao Cao.  Using Sun Quan
with his fifth weapon is suggested for this stage, as not only does it
prevent loss due to leader's death, it also gives you a very powerful
instant death attack with which to reach 1,000 kills (in this scenario,
have the other player use Zhuge Liang to occupy or destroy enemy officers).

My Dynasty Warriors experience comes from more than just playing the game
alone.  Over the course of making my other Dynasty Warriors 3 guide I
received countless hints, tips, suggestions, and comments that assisted
me in the process of making a better guide.  Over the course of asking
questions, I also became quite familiar with the various aspects of
Dynasty Warriors 3, and thanks to this I was able to put this guide
together quickly.

Thanks also to Muni Shinobu (http://geocities.com/muni_shinobu/faq/)
for all the wonderful guides and walkthroughs he has created.  While
assembling this guide, it was his (JIS) Fifth Weapons guiding me.
Thanks also to thank Andy, Lord Davion and Jeff, Zhao Yun (screen
names as found on http://the-scholars.com/ - my Three Kingdoms forum)
for many fun hours spent playing through these scenarios.

And to the following people, thank you for telling me about errors
or omissions in the FAQ:  Xiahou Mao.
