This guide is translated and written by Penguin_Knight
I have gathered, translated, interpreted, and typeset this written guide for
players who do not understand Japanese, but are interested in understanding how
to maximize all the commus in Persona 3 (P3) within the first game play.

However, I would like to lay out some limitations so that you know what you
are getting into:
- This guide is highly restrictive, nearly every action outside Tartarus is
 controlled. As time goes on it would improve, but overall, you have all major
 social link events worked out for you.
- I have played Persona 3 multiple times (JPN version) and when I attempted to
 follow this walkthrough, I still needed to restart twice, wasting totally 16
 hours of game play. With emphasis on my mistakes, I put all the must-do's in
 this walkthrough and I hope you'd have better luck.
- Status increase in Persona 3 involves some randomness. If you luck is really
 bad, it may not work out perfectly. Should such thing happens, don't feel
 bad, you'd still maximize more social links than if you just try on your
 own.

Q: Does this guide contain spoiler?
A: This guide is mostly spoiler-free. You may be able to get a vague idea of
what is going on with the S.Link characters by the suggested responses. I tried
to minimize the spoilage by only listing player's responses and not the
character's questions.

Q: How complete is this guide?
A: You'll get suggestions of what to do in order to increase your three stats:
Academic, Charm, and Courage. On top of that, you'll have a better idea of how
to spend a day, initiate and maintain social links.

Q: What this guide is not?
A: This guide is NOT a battle guide. It doesn't contain information on how to
fight the bosses, at least not in this edition.

1) Read all the section one. There are rountine things you have to do everyday
that I will not repeat 200 some times; that would make the walkthrough too big.

2) The system in section 2 is designed to be a "One-glance Calendar" format,
through which you can complete a whole day of activities without cross-
referencing between sections. However, try to read ahead for at least a week or
so to avoid surprise.

Each day is indexed as [mm.dd.day], so if you are interested to continue from
Feburary 10th, search for the term (Ctrl+F) "02.10" and you should be brought
to the right section.

The main has three stats, which will directly affect the starts of some social
links and other activities:

Academic would affects
- Result of examinations and tests in school
- Access to social links Temperance(LV2), Sun(LV4), and Empress(LV6)
- Completion of a quest from Elizabeth (Sushi quest)
Charm would affect:
- Access to social links Moon(LV2), Devil(LV4), and Lover(LV6)
- Completion of a quest from Elizabeth (Elizabeth drink quest)
Courage would affect:
- Access to social links Tower(LV2), Star(LV4), and High Priestess(LV6)
- Completion of a quest from Elizabeth (Mahjong piece quest)

The major challenge using this walkthrough is to max out Courage by 6/19, so
that we can start Priestess social link earlier. In the next section, I will
briefly explain some ground rules to achieve this.

The leveling up of a social link works like this:

1. You talk to the person who is representing that social link, if condition
  is fulfilled, you'll initiate the social link. Most social links do not have
  condition other than only being present in specific days in a week. Some
  have stringent criteria.

2. Each time you spend time with the social link, you accure points towards it,
  once the points have reached a certain level, special social link event will
  happen next time and it will level up.

  During that leveling up conversation, you will be presented with a set of
  questions related to their issues. Among the answers, some will grant you
  more points, some will grant you none. The major goal of this game is to
  understand your social link's personality in order to gain their trust,
  friendship, or even love.

  Those points count towards to NEXT level, if it is more than what is needed,
  you'll level up again in next time meeting. All the extra points you gained
  will not carry over.

  Notice that if you have the a persona with the same arcana in your
  inventory (equipping not required), you'll gain 50% bonus of all the points.

3. To level the commu as fast as one can, the player has to:

  - Carry a persona with the same arcana for 50% points bonus

  - Pick the best answer to yield highest amount of points

I will not repeat the following message in every day's schedule. 100% follow-
ing of this flow of the day is strongly encouraged, especially in the first
two months in which we have to max out Courage.

1. Skip all the day-time restaurant, we'll use the day time for all social
  events. However, you'll still be able to see those restaurant because some
  social link events take place there.

2. Donate 1000 yen to the shrine everyday until you max your Academic. It can
  be difficult at the beginning, make sure to stay in Tartarus longer and earn
  enough donation fund.

3. Spend the night in the following orders:

  i) Go to Karaoke everynight + Study at that late night, continue until your
     courage is maxed. The Karaoke is not available on Friday and Saturday,
     in that case, visit Tartarus to level up/ gain money; or go to have a
     coffee then study. If you're tired on either Friday or Sunday, you may
     just stick to coffee only.

  ii) After Courage is maxed, go to drink coffee + Study at late night,
     continue until your Charm is maxed

  iii) When both Charm and Courage are maxed, go to do Tower Social Link at
     night and then study at the late night, until Tower is maxed.

  iv) When Tower is maxed, just study at night until Academic is maxed.

4. Spend after-school time in the following orders:

  i) After you're off the school, talk to the student at the front of the
     classroom to open up a map. Go to the shrine and donate 1000 yen.

  ii) Afterwards, if you're tired/sick, go to see the school doctor and drink
     his medicine to increase Courage until your Courage is maxed. That potion
     will not heal you, but afterwards you can try visiting bathroom. There is
     a certain chance that your condition will be back to normal.

  iii) Proceed to carry out the Social Link, make sure you have the matching
     persona with you to get the bonus. Answer all the question with highest
     points (suggested answers are given in this walk through).

5. If you're worried that the Courage may not be maxed out by 6/19, here is an
  explanation:

  To maximize Courage you have to at least gain 80 Courage points
  - Each karaoke visit gives 2 pts
  - Each medicine from the school doctor gives 2 pts

  If you go to sing Karaoke every Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu (I know, it's like
  practicing for American Idol), you should have 35 nights for Karaoke before
  starting the social link with Fuuka.

  [Notice that Sunday used for Hermit social links will make you unable to
  visit Karaoke. I took that into consideration when coming with the 35 nights
  answer.]

  So... there are 70 pts, not enough. So, Please please please remember to see
  the two movies on 4/21 and 4/26. They will together give you 8 pts, total up
  to 78.

  With all these secured, you'll just have to visit the school doctor,
  theoretically, once. But I'd suggest do it as much as you can. Here is how
  to "get tired":

  i. visit Tartarus on Friday night. Because you cannot go to Karaoke on
  Friday, but you'll have chance to visit school the next day (i.e. can see
  the doctor). So, visit Tartarus on Friday and fight until you are tired.

  ii. Study sometimes causes tiredness, too. You can try saving first, then
  go out for Karaoke, then come home and study and see if you got tired.
  That's a quite boring way.

  iii. The oracle slip in the shrine also can make you tired (with 5000 yen
  loss, however). If that ever happens to you, don't feel upset. Run right
  back to the school and see the school doctor.


6. One of the key to max out Courage by 6/19 is to see two movies on 4/21 and
  4/26. These would gain totally 8 pts towards Courage and that's 10% of all
  you need to maximize it.

7. What about the dates of maxing Charm and Academic? Basically if you follow
  the routine you should not have problem, some trickier ones are listed
  here for your reference:

  - Charm needs to be at level 4 by 8/2 to start the Devil social link

  - Charm needs to be at level 6 by 9/3 to start the Lovers social link

  - Academic needs to be at level 2 by 5/29 to start the Temperance social
    link

  - Academic needs to be at level 6 by 10/12 in order to top the third exam
    ~ You can also top the first exam with level 3 Academic
    ~ You can also top the second exam with level 5 Academic
    Either way, you'll need at least one of these topped as a condition for
    Empress social link

  - Academic needs to be at level 6 by 11/20 in order to start the Empress
    social link

8. For Social Link initiation and Rank 10 special event, whatever you answer
  does not matter.

9. When to bring a matching persona:

  Rule of thumb, once your reach Rank 2, better to see them again with a
  matching persona.

  Here are the detailed rules and the recipe of the lowest level persona:

  o. Fool - No matching persona needed, level up is automatic

  i. Magician - Needs matching persona on 4/30. Then always meet with him
     with a matching persona.
     [LV5 Nekomata <- Pixie + Apsara]

  ii. Priestess - Needs matching persona after you've reached rank 2.
     [Apsara, picked up in level 1 Tartarus]

  iii. Empress - Needs matching persona after you've reached rank 2.
     [LV33 Leanan Sidhe <- Nigimitama + Gurr]

  iv. Emperor - No matching persona needed. This social link is structured
    in a way that no matter you have Emperor persona or not, you still have
    to spend equal number of meetings.
     [LV7 Forneus <- Pixie + Aramitama]

  v. Hierophant - Needs matching persona after you've reached rank 5.
     [LV7 Omoikane <- Nekomata + Apsara]

  vi. Lover - Needs matching persona after you've reached rank 2.

  vii. Chariot - Needs matching persona for the conversation on 5/6.
     Afterwards, always meet with him with a matching persona.

Congratulations! Now that you can roam across the Tartarus... a few things to
remember:

1. You can reach up to 16/F
2. We'd need a level 5 persona Nekomata on 4/30 and a level 6 Aramitama on 5/6
  make sure to level up and obtain enough personae to do these fusion. After
  5/9 you can get access to the compendium and life will be simpler
3. On 5/27, you'll need a level 13 Valkyrie. Level up accordingly in the second
  area
4. There is something called Odd Morsel that you can find in the Tartarus, they
  replenish HP with negative status effect. Keep at least ONE Odd Morsel. We
  will need it later in the year to start a social link
5. By a Mad Bull at your dorm's vending machine and buy a box of Takoyaki
  (grilled octopus balls) from the train station near to your dorm. The
  takoyaki shop is at the very right of the street. Carry them with you, we
  will need them soon to start a social link

These would be the first few difficulties for the players. I'll also stress
again, always bring a matching persona with once you have rank it up to 2. See
1.03 for a list of personae, and which social links need one.
