list of how to get some of the gaps as well. I probably will not, however,
include a gap list as it can be found in the game under the options menu. If
you have any suggestions of other things that should be in here that aren’t,

**Tip**
Most of the score challenges require lots of manualing to get, max out your
balance as early as possible
5. Boarder score, 200,000 pts.
Manual to the right at the first drop and pull off a couple of flip-grap
combos and land in a manual. Go just about straight until you see a short
pole near a couple of trees. Slide it and jump off it before it ends or you
will hit the tree at the end. Land in a manual and go to the right. You will
see one fairly short silver rail that takes you more towards the left, and a
longer one just behind it. Slide the longer one, jumping from rail to rail
until it ends. Flip off it and you should have the boarder score. If not,
pull off a couple specials on the jump that is coming right up.
6. Pro Score, 550,000 pts.
Jump off and manual to the real low rail on the ground. Slide
this and manual to the big jump coming up. Pull off some specials and then
land the trick cleanly to get the pro score. If you don’t quite have it then
pull of some specials off other jumps and land in a manual to increase your
multiplier.
7. Sick Score, 800,000 pts.
Jump off and manual to the real low rail on the ground. Slide
this and manual to the big jump coming up. Pull off some specials and then
land the trick cleanly. Continue tricking and manualing off whatever you want
until you reach the end. Take the helicopter lift at the end of the run. (not
the snowmobile over to the right) This will take you up higher than where you
started the run. Slide the first tree to the left and don’t jump off it. Hold
slide for a while and you will be able to hit 4-6 trees without pressing
anything other than the triangle button. When you see that you won’t hit any
more trees when you land, then manual. Continue manualing and flipping down
to where you started and do the beginning part of this all over again. Be
very careful that you don’t fall on the manual going down, or you will lose
all the multipliers and points that you got from sliding the trees. Stop
tricking when you think that you will have the sick score and just land
cleanly. As always if you don’t quite have it then do some specials off some
of the jumps in the level.
8. Finish before 3:25 with 125,000 pts.
This is harder to do in this level than it is to do in Squaw Valley, but it
is still pretty easy as long as you have some good speed stats. You need to
do most of what I told you to do for the boarder score and then just land
cleanly when you see that you have the points. Now just go straight down the
level into the finish. The key is making sure that you don’t fall on the
rocks in the middle of the level. To avoid this, pay attention to the way
your board is pointing when you are going to land on the rocks. Most of the
rock stretch is steeper than the rest of the trail so you will probably need
to be pointing forward more than usual. One more tip is that if you see that
you are going to land on one of the pipes, don’t slide it. Instead, you
should bonk it. This will keep you from falling when you hit the pipe, and is
much better than sliding the pipe because it keeps your speed and forward
momentum.
9. Collect the Mount Hood logos
Three of the logos here are very easy to get, but one is kinda hard. Here’s
where they all are and how to get them.
Logo one: Go off of the first cliff and go slightly to the left of the silver
rails I told you to use for the score challenges. A little farther up you
will see two trees hanging out over the edge of a jump. Keep your speed up
and slide the left one (but don’t jump off it) and let yourself fall over the
edge. Continue holding triangle so that you will grind the helicopter’s
blade. After the Animation* is finished then head straight and go off of the
jump right in front of you to get the first logo.
*Grinding this helicopter blade and making it take off is one of the things
you have to do for the water tower challenge, but it is also the easiest way
to get this logo.
Logo two: When you come to the second big cliff point yourself slightly to
the right and try to make sure that you don’t hit the stone roof thing. (why
is it there anyway?) You will see a pipe running along the ground in front of
you. Sliding this pipe leads you right exactly to the tree that the logo is
on.
**Note** To get this one you will have to jump right before the end of the
tree or you will go right under the logo.
Logo three: (hardest) Continue down the mountain until you get to the last
little drop/cliff. Go straight off this and continue down just a little ways
more. You should see a fairly large ramp jump pointed diagonally to the left.
Go off the left-hand side of this jump to get the logo.
**Note** This one may take you a couple tries to get, as there are a couple
different methods of getting it and none of them are really the best. If you
have a lot of speed going onto the jump it is possible to go right off the
jump without jumping and land right on the logo. The second way is to jump
about a foot before the jump actually ends. This also works well. The third
way is to go even farther off the left side of the jump and attempt to land
on the wire that leads right to the logo. I have tried all these methods and
none of them really works better than the other, although for me the first
method is probably the hardest.
Logo four: This is the easiest one of them all. Take the helicopter at the
end of the run and slide the first tree to the left and then don’t let go of
triangle. As long as you don’t jump off any of the trees you will get it on
the third or fourth tree.
10. Find the Secret Sponsor
First of all, let me tell you that this is far easier after you have cut the
power, so you might want to read below to learn how to do this first. Trust
me, it is _much_ easier. At the end of this I will tell you how to do it
without cutting the power, but first I will tell you the easiest way to do
it. After you have cut the power stay as far to the left as you can. Don’t
try to go up the walls or anything, just stay far to the left. About half way
down there is a fallen power tower leaning up the left-hand side of the
level. Slide this to get up to a little ledge covered in snow. The second
tree up here has the secret sponsor on it, you may have to jump to get it.
See, wasn’t that easy? Now here’s the hard way. Before you have cut the
power, it is still possible to do it. Like I told you before, go as far to
the left as you can until you jump off the cliff with the big sign. After you
have landed go up the left-hand snow wall at a diagonal angle. The key is to
stay about half way up the snow wall, and yet not to lose speed and go
backwards or fall off. After going like this for a ways, you will hit a jump
that you can’t see very well (because it looks just like all the other snow)
and turn sideways in the air. If you don’t do anything about it, you will
fall. After you have hit that little jump and have turned sideways in the air
then hold R2 and L2 until you are straightened out. Now land and continue
going up and to the left until you are up where the secret sponsor is. The
Sponsor is on the second tree, and you may have to jump to get it.
**Note**
The first time I got the sponsor I did it the second way because I hadn’t
figured out the first way. If you’re determined to get it this way then keep
trying, because yes, it is possible!
11. Cut the Power
This has got to be one of the coolest challenges in the game, if maybe a
little unbelievable (but who cares right?). First of all, stay to the left
coming down the hill. Stay inside the halfpipe and then go to the left of the
first lift you see. A little bit to your right you will see an enormous sign.
Head straight at it and _jump_ up the side of it. Plant, (not slide) at the
top. Let go of the plant and the sign will fall down, giving you the TIMBER!
Gap. After the sign falls you will be left pointing diagonally uphill. Jump a
couple times to get as far uphill as you can and then turn around and head
back down. Immediately to your right you should see a thin wire leading from
the ground to the sign. **Note** do this part EXACTLY like I tell you to.
Slide up the wire and then slide on the sign toward the platform. Let go of
triangle and do not jump off the sign. If you do it right you will drop right
onto the platform right beside the big gray gun. As soon as you land jump
again and slide on the gun. Now watch what happens!
**Note**
If for some reason you don’t manage to get far enough back uphill to get the
wire, you should still have time to hit the next lift you see and have
another try at it, the sign will still be down.
12. Clear the road
This is the hardest (in my opinion) of all the Mount Hood challenges. First,
you need to go off the first cliff and go slightly to the right. You will see
two trees hanging out over the edge (like in the logos). Slide the left one
and hold triangle until you slide the helicopter’s blade. This will make the
helicopter take off and fly farther down the mountain. Now go down the
mountain to the second cliff right after the big sign and head to the far
right of the trail. You will hop over a little fence and pretty soon you will
see a big crane, along with three buses to the left of it. When I first
played this level I thought you had to do something with the crane and so
spent quite a while sliding and bonking it in various places. Don’t be
fooled! Although the crane is involved you don’t have to do anything to it.
Go to the bus farthest to the right, go up the left-hand side of it and slide
along. At the end, jump to the middle bus and slide it. This should make the
middle bus fall down and the game will say “one of three vehicles cleared”.
Again, don’t be fooled by appearances, the others can not be cleared the same
way. To clear the others, go down to the end of the run and go to the right
of the jump you used to get the third logo. You are looking for a tree
hanging over the edge with a helicopter hovering underneath. Once you find
this tree then keep your speed up and slide it. At the very end of it jump
off. You will see that you are going to land on the helicopter. Instead of
landing on it, bonk the helicopter. If you have jumped far enough then the
bonk will carry you onto a wire. Sliding this will take you to another gun
like the one near the big sign. Slide or bonk this gun and you have cleared
the road (after another nifty little animation).
13. Bonk the Water Towers
This is another relatively hard challenge, but it’s easy once you know how
it’s done. To get the first one head down to where the big sign is. Just
before you go over the small cliff there is a silver rail to the right hand
side. Slide this and jump off onto the rail lying on top of the weird rock
roof thing. Slide this and then jump off it onto a wire that is straight in
front of you*. At the end of this wire is the water tower you need to bonk.
Be careful not to go too far before you bonk it. For the second water tower
you have to go down to the end of the level. Go over the last little cliff
and go to the far right. You will soon see the end of a quarterpipe. Jump up
the end of the pipe on the left part and hold triangle to get on a wire. Be
careful not to miss the end of the quarterpipe, as it is pretty skinny.
Anyway, slide along this wire and then jump onto the short rail on the top of
the building. Quickly jump to the longer rail and slide it all the way to the
end, where the second water tower awaits your bonk. There is also a second
way to do this, when you are coming down to the building that the wire leads
you on top of you will see some sort of pipe hanging off the side of the
building. If you jump off the snow on the side of the building you can slide
this pipe instead of the wire to get to the top of the building. Because you
can’t see this pipe when you are up close, it makes it hard to guess where to
jump on the building, and you may miss the pipe. I have tried both ways and I
think the first way is better, but feel free to try both.
*There is a tree right by the wire, which blocks your vision from the first
part of the wire. Hold triangle to make sure you get it.
14. Credits and thanks
First of all I would like to thank Activision for making this game. Everyone
says that it’s no THPS3 but it’s still great by my standards.
I would also like to thank David Blake for writing the excellent guides to
the earlier levels that helped me get to the later ones, and finally myself,
it’s hard work writing one of these ya know! :)
Please look for my future guides for more levels, I hope to eventually do all
of the levels after Squaw Valley, I just need to find the time to write them
up.
