 o=========================================================================o

In the lower left corner are three bars. There is a red health bar, a yellow
power bar, and to the left of these two bars, around the face of Shana, is a
flame bar, which is empty at the beginning of the fight.
Same goes for your opponent in the upper right corner.

In the lower right corner is a grid, that shows where you and your enemy are,
and where you can see different stats. I will explain them later.

o=============================================================================o
\                             2. Basic Controls                             /
 o=========================================================================o

Circle   (abbr. O) - Attack (you need 3 or 4 flames for an attack)
Triangle (abbr. T) - Move
Square   (abbr. S) - Recharge (flame bar)
Cross    (abbr. X) - End Turn

o=============================================================================o
\                             3. Basic Strategy                             /
 o=========================================================================o

One recharge consumes 3 power, and fills 4 flames. You can get a maximum of 12
flames. At the beginning of every turn you gain 4 power. Moving consumes 1
power for every 2 steps.

Now for the attacks: one attack consumes 2 power and you need at least 3
flames. But I recommend that you only use attacks when you have at least 4
flames. The reason therefore is, that Shana has special attacks, which inflict
twice the amount of damage compared to a normal attack. But you need 4 flames
in order to do a special attack.

Every attack consists of 3 symbols. When you press O in order to start an
attack, there will be a minigame, where you have to press a button at the right
moment. That is easy because when the two white marks meet, there will be a
sound and the two wheels will turn white. Then you have about a quarter of a
second to press your desired button. This will continue two more times, and you
can press different buttons each time. Each time you are successful, the symbol
of the button you pressed will be added.

So which buttons should you choose for your attack?
As mentioned before, there are special attacks with doubled damage, and there
are 4 different ones. You need a certain combination of 3 symbols:
OOT - Rattotsu - Crush?
OOS - Guren no Honryuu - Crimson Torrent
OTT - Nietono no Shana
OTS - Gouka no Ibuki - Breath of Conflagration
But the order doesn't matter. Instead of OOT you can also combine OTO or TOO.

Defending
When the enemy attacks, there will also be a minigame. If you press the same
button like your enemy, then you will block his attack.

o=============================================================================o
\                           4. Advanced Strategy                            /
 o=========================================================================o

Now we need to take care of the stats in the lower right corner. Under the
word 'Player' you see the three symbols. Next to them the first number is the
damage the symbol will add to your attack. The second number is the success
probability, that means that even when you press the button at the right time,
the enemy can block your attack. But if there is a high success probability,
then the enemy will block it seldom.

So the best choice is to use special attacks that consist of symbols with high
damage and above all HIGH PROBABILITY.

Use the symbols with lowest probability in your combo first. Because if the
enemy blocks your attack at the first symbol, you will only lose 1 flame. If he
blocks it at the second symbol, you will lose 2 flames. If he blocks it at the
third symbol, you will lose 3 flames.

This is where it is getting complicated, because moving will change the stats.
The stats depend on your position in relation to the opponent. For example, at
the beginning you are 4 steps away from the enemy. When you or your enemy move
one step closer, the stats will change completely. But if you then move one
step away again, the stats will be the same like at the beginning. Moving to
the side will increase your probability by 5% for each step. Since the battle
grid is only 3 steps wide (horizontal), you can be maximal two steps to the
side in relation to your enemy. Use this side movement! I generally try to stay
at the side, whenever there is an opportunity.

You can also see the damage of your enemy's symbols above the battle grid in
the lower right corner. So defend with the symbol that would make the highest
damage. In the third round of defending you have to look out for special
attacks, so it could be that you have to press a different button than in the
first and second round. If it is too difficult to decide for a special attack
in this short time, then you can also press the same button three times.

Move to spots where the enemy's powerful attacks are easy to block. That means
there is one symbol with high damage and the other two symbols only do low
damage. For attacking you need to move to spots, where your damage*probability
is high. If you are not in the best position for attacking or defending, then
you have to deliberate about whether you should move in order to improve your
position, or stay and save your power for attacking or recharging.

Still, a part of the battle depends on luck. So if you lose, just try again.

o=============================================================================o
\                        5. Enemy-specific Strategy                         /
 o=========================================================================o

In the first table are the stats from the game, just copied.
Layout:
Steps away | Symbol | Damage | Success Probability | Damage done by Enemy

In the second table under 'Best Attack' you can see, which combo is best at
which position, or which combo is best overall. 'Damg' is the damage of the
combo, 'Prob' is its success probability (e.g. 0.320 means 32.0%), and 'D*P' is
the damage multiplied by success probability - the average damage you do with
this combo.
'Enemy' is the sum of the damage of the two lowest symbols. Because you can
block the symbol with the highest damage, any damage done by the enemy will
consist of the other two symbols.

Steps away = Position
4 = farthest away
1 = right in front of enemy

You can stay at 2 (I mean at position 2 - meaning 2 steps away from your
enemy), attack with TOO and defend with T. Or you stay at 1, attack with OTT
and defend with T. 2 is better for attacking, 1 is better for defending and
recharging.

When they have low health, all enemies go far away to 4. In Vines case, you can
stay at 4 then and finish him off with secure attacks like TOO, while defending
with S.

This one is a special case. You can attack Friagne from 4 with the non-special
attack SSS, defend with S.
Another strategy would be to stay at 1, attack with TTO and defend with T, but
this depends on luck whether you hit or not, so make sure to move to the side
in order to increase your success probability.

1 | TOO | 440 | 0.405 | 178 |  75

-Strategy
There are two main strategies. The first is to stay at 1, attack with TOO and
defend with S.
The second strategy is to recharge and defend with S at 4. For attacking move
to 3 and to the side, attack with OTT, but be sure to move away when Margery is
about to attack. If she has low flame bar, then she probably won't attack next
turn, so you can stay at 3.
