01 INTRO

Let me begin by saying how pleasantly surprised I was by this game.
The Judgment Ring added a refreshing twist to the game play and the
time setting provided for a nice change of pace from the more recent
futuristic RPG's. But enough of my babbling... it is highly recommended
that you've played the game already but it's not necessary. With the
following walkthrough you'll be able to complete this hidden gem in
less than 8 1/2 hours.

02 REQUIREMENTS/STRATEGIES
--------------------------
A) "ARGHH! HULK SMASH... HULK NO LIKE READ..."
Jam the 'X' button to roll through the dialogue quicker and be sure to
hit the start button to skip all the FMV's.
B) "I MAY NOT KNOW YOU, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN I CAN'T MAKE
ASSUMPTIONS..."
I expect you to have some skill when it comes to the Judgment Ring.
Mind's Eye + W. Tiger Hair + Third Key may be a bit daunting, but I
expect you to be able to connect on, at the very least, 7 of the 9
hits.
C) "WTF?! DO I LOOK LIKE CARL LEWIS?!"
Except for a ~30 minute stretch near the end of the game and a few
selective fights, you'll be running from all random battles.
D) "YOU'RE A BIG BOY, I'M NOT GONNA HOLD YOUR FRIGGIN' HAND!"
I will leave using TENTS, SEALS and other various items during or
outside of battle to your discretion.

03 WALKTHROUGH

PART I - ASIA
-------------
Select 'New Game' and hit start to skip the FMV (this is the only time
I'll be telling you to do this so don't forget to hit start to skip the
remaining FMV's). Go the menu and set the message speed to "Fast".
Run through the train (grab the THERA and MANA LEAF off the corpses in
second screen) until you get to the nice mess Mr. Bacon left for you.

ROGER BACON
Just wait until he unleashes Revelation.
<DIALOGUE>. Grab the PURE LEAF to the left and head down to the next
screen. From there, head northeast and for the LEATHER BELT. Head
west until you run into Alice. Head east, cross the bridge. Go
northeast and examine the gate. Play the mini-game to get a handle and
head back to the gate. Head for the SAVE POINT. <DIALOGUE>.

towards the glowing gravestone...

control of Yuri, head west. Pick up the LEATHER BELT in the chest and
continue southwest.

LEVEL NOTES: I suggest fighting in one random battle to get Yuri to
lvl.4 before the fight with Felinus. Also, make sure Zhuzhen survives
the fight with Felinus (this will put him at lvl.5 and give him access
to Ogre Flamedance).
Grab the HOLY MOTHER BUST in the chest. <DIALOGUE>. Head north and
SAVE (:19 - :21). On the right side of the well take the TENT. Grab
the TALISMAN OF LUCK to the right of the Lost Peddler. Continue north
to the shrine. <DIALOGUE>. Enter the house to the northwest.

side of the market area) and grab the torch near the gate (on the lower
right side). Head back north, SAVE (:32-:34) to the house and examine
the center of the room...

This is one of the toughest fights you'll have because of your low
levels (Yuri lvl.5, Alice lvl.3, Zhuzhen lvl.5). If Y:EARTH gets the
first attack, you may have to restart. This guy always seems to open
with LARGE WHIRLPOOL which puts A and Z near critical.

Grab the SHELL BRACELET from the shrine and head for the exit. Talk to
the Wandering Merchant to get your first GUILD CARD.

FENGTIAN

When you regain control of Yuri, talk to everyone in the area before
talking to Alice (wait to play lottery when you're inside the store).
Take the TALISMAN OF LUCK located in front of the fountain. Head west
into the next area and grab the TENT from the chest. Then head into
the store. Talk to the guy behind the counter then leave. <DIALOGUE>.
Head back into the store and SAVE (:52-:55). Play the lottery and win
the JADE LARIAT. Sell the JADE LARIAT and SHELL BRACELET. Buy the
KNUCKLE BLADE and LEATHER VEST. Get Meiyuan to max out the power of
the KNUCKLE BLADE. Exit the store. Grab the LOTTERY TICKET on the left
before going down into the sewers.
Head north and take the upper left path until you reach the hole in the
wall. <DIALOGUE>. Inspect the hole for a LOTTERY TICKET. Make your
way back to where you entered the sewers and go east, north, then east
until you reach a SAVE POINT and a ladder. Climb the ladder. Now head
back to the entrance again and keep heading north to get the SEALING
STONE. Don't forget the ROSEWOOD BRACELET on your right. Place
Margarete in the back row. Now make your way back to the ladder, SAVE
(:59-1:02)...

OF AURA in the upper right corner and the FLARE BROOCH from the chest
(equip it on Yuri). Exit the Inn and talk to the woman standing in the
southern area for some DRY FISH. Head southeast for the TEA OF THE
HEALER in the chest. SAVE (1:30-1:33). Play the lottery in the
restaurant (get the POCKET WATCH). Take the SILVER HOURGLASS hidden in
the chest behind the second table. Give the DRY FISH to Sea Mother in
the restaurant. Just outside the restaurant search the ground to
collect 2000 G. Head north toward the docks. Grab the LOTTERY TICKET
from the chest before boarding the boat.

heading back down to Alice. Head back to Zhuzhen <DIALOGUE>. When you

Buy the STEEL CLAW, STUDDED HARNESS, NANBU PISTOL. Equip Yuri with the
STUDDED HARNESS and give Zhuzhen the LEATHER VEST. Sell the LEATHER
GLOVES, KNUCKLE BLADE, OAK STAFF, COTTON SHIRTS, AND POCKET WATCH (If
you don't have at least 25,650 sell the SPIKES). Go back to the bar
and get acupuncture to max out the attack power on the STEEL CLAW and
NANBU PISTOL. Exit Shanghai when you're ready.

BRACELET. In the next screen SAVE and win the BERSERKER EARRINGS from
the guy sleeping in the street. Enter the bar on the right. Talk to
Rosa, then to Zhuzhen. <DIALOGUE>. Head north but before heading into
the next screen look for the KIRIN SCALE hidden on the right side.

talk to Ido and Warda (two houses at the top) then head back into the
house in the southeast. <DIALOGUE>. Grab the MOON SWALLOW and MOON
CARD in the room before exiting. Head northeast toward the gate. Grab
the TALISMAN OF WISDOM to the left of gate before leaving Bistritz.

Grab the COSMIC BRACELET hidden in the left part of the screen. Head
north and inspect the gate. Try walking away and the gate will open.
Keep heading north until you reach a SAVE POINT (3:38-3:51). Proceed
to the left and continue south. Grab the TENT along the way. Head
east and you'll see the "invisible" guy again. Follow him. Before
heading down the steps grab the POCKET WATCH hidden in the lower left.
You'll see eight coffins. Starting from the TOP LEFT of your screen
I'm going to number the coffins 1 through 8. Here is the order in
which you should pray: 7 (Abel), 4(Edgar), 3 (Frank), 8 (Helen), 2
(Leon), 1 (Maria), 6 (Robin), 5 (Steven). Inspect the open coffin.
Head back to the SAVE POINT, head east and through the northern door.
Try to exit this room. <DIALOGUE>. Exit the castle. Outside the
castle gate go to the right and grab the THERA SEED and STAR SWALLOW.
Have Meiyuan max out the power on Keith's weapon. Equip Keith with the
MIND'S EYE, WEIRD BOTTLE, and WESTERN BELT. Head back to Nina's shop
in Bistritz.

Upon entering, talk to the second guy from the bottom (Penniless Mike)
to get the SUN CARD. Continue north into the next screen. <DIALOGUE>.
Head back across the bridge into the bar. <DIALOGUE>. Head back to
the entrance and into the hotel. SAVE (4:40-4:56). Exit and win the
PRIEST EARRINGS from the guy kneeling on the street. Head north past
the bridge. Check in the northwest corner here for the OAK SLINGSHOT.
Now head toward the abandoned home. Go to the northwest and examine
the door on the ground. Upon entering, grab the DEMON EARRINGS to the
left. Go up the ramp to your left and follow this path until you reach
a ladder. After you climb the ladder, grab the SOUL BENEDICTION next
to the box and go up the steps. <DIALOGUE>. Grab the WARNING DEVICE
(next to the table) and the TALISMAN OF PURITY (next to the furnace)
and exit the hideout. Head east and enter the house. <DIALOGUE>.
Grab the SOUL OF FORCE and KIRIN SCALE in this house before exiting
onto the world map.
Enter the orphanage. <DIALOGUE>. Go back to the world map.
<DIALOGUE>.
Head back to the top floor of the hideout. <DIALOGUE>. When given the
option, send Margarete. Return to the orphanage. Equip Halley with
the OAK SLINGSHOT, PRIEST EARRINGS, and CRUCIFIX. SAVE (4:50-5:07)
when you get on the world map. Upon entering the orphanage, check the
door in the southwest...

Once inside, head for the confessional booths. Go into the second
confessional. <DIALOGUE>. Exit. <DIALOGUE>. Select Halley as your
third party member and talk to Joshua to receive the IMPROVED
SLINGSHOT. Exit onto the world map and SAVE (5:39-6:05). Enter
Nemeton Monastery.

NEMETON MONASTERY - SANCTUARY RUINS

Proceed north until you reach the next screen. Grab the MANTLE OF
NOBILITY in the northwest corner here before going through the eastern
entrance. <DIALOGUE>. Head back to the house you saw when you first
entered. <DIALOGUE>. Go back to where you first met Roger. Grab the
TALISMAN OF POWER to your right before going down the steps. SAVE
(5:45-6:11) and talk to Roger to replenish HP and MP. Enter the now
open gate. Go east until you reach an area with two chests. Open the
one that is to the north. Now go west four screens (pick up the hidden
MAUSER PROTOTYPE in the northwest corner before going right two
screens) southeast, then east and open this chest. Go back to the area
where you just came from and push the button on the blue pedestal. Go
left into the next screen and grab the hidden SILVER WOLF FANG in the
upper left hand corner. Continue up and open the left chest for a
MIND'S EYE. Now go west three screens, southwest, and north. Push the
button on the red pedestal. Take the HOLY BOOK OF MARTYRS. Now head
southwest, southeast, then east. You'll be in a room with a chest
blocked by a yellow triangular light. Go north up a flight of steps
and push the button on the green pedestal. Head back to the area where
you picked up the MIND'S EYE and get the COAT OF THE SAGE. Head back
to the blue pedestal and push the button again. Head back to the chest
that was blocked by the yellow light and receive the SEAL OF VITALITY.
Now go west two screens and inspect the fire pit to receive the
DESTRUCTION STONE. Now keep heading east and SAVE (5:48-6:17).
Time Note: The time difference in doing the DESTRUCTION STONE side
quest and going straight to the boss fight is only ~6-7 minutes.
Pick up the SEAL OF STRENGTH and PUNK JACKET on the opposite ends of
the door before entering. Here is what your team should look like:

fight enough masks and get Alice to lvl.35 (Arc!). Fight the masks in
the following order: Grail, Gold (immune to physical attacks). Unless
Alice survived the fight with Albert/Amon, you're going to have to beat
the Grail and Gold mask to get to lvl.35. I suggest fighting the other
two (STAFF & SWORD: it doesn't matter in what order you choose to fight
them) because of the EXP and CASH these easy battles give you (45000
EXP & 30000 CASH).

next to the Inn Keeper). Exit and head for Prague.

PRAGUE REVISITED II

SAVE (6:43-7:30) near the sleeping man and continue north to the next
screen. Buy as many THIRD KEYS (using the 50% discount) from the
Silent Peddler (he's talking to Meiyuan) as you can. Then resell them
at 25%. Do this 3 times (you should end up with ~800,000 in CASH). I
suggest saving after each successful transaction. Have Meiyuan max out
the power and hit area for all three weapons. Pick up 12 THIRD KEYS
and exit onto the world map. Go to the graveyard and check Alice's
grave (you don't have to do this but I recommend it as the next battle
gives good EXP and is very easy). SAVE (6:51-7:39) on the world map.
Now proceed to Roger's house and pick up the STYGIAN ROBE, SNOW WHITE
ROBE, and 5 GOLD HOURGLASSES. Talk to Roger. When you gain control of
Alice go talk to the four masks. <DIALOGUE>.

While writing the FAQ, it took me 7:39 to get to the final two battles.
This walkthrough is by no means as efficient as it could be. With a
bit of luck I'm certain it's possible to beat the game in less than 7
hours.
